I generally don't use Ruin
I'm not affected.
I knew this day was coming and didn't want to have my style of play ruined when the inevitable nerf came.

I'm sure you do like the changes and that's part of the problem. No devs in their right mind would balance around what an inexperienced confused player is capable of. You're supposed to have to learn to play to perform well in a pvp game not have your hand held.
This is a very short-sighted point of view..
If you balance a game around the experience of the top tier without giving the newbies any entry level mechanics to level the field and make the game more accessible for them, all you will get is a tiny community of veterans with no new blood who stick it out long enough to discover that they love the game enough to care about getting better.
-
I'm going to be honest with you guys.
If I was the devs I wouldn't take 95% of the board seriously either.
-
All killers walk at 92% speed when carrying. What you are experiencing is likely just an optical illusion.
It's like how everybody swore up and down the clown had a different speed than other killers, or freddy has a longer lunge
-
Problem is, too many Killers use it as a way to just win the game when the best way to use it is to add tension to the game.
One of my favorite tricks back in the days before everybody started DCing the moment a secret offering came up was to hold back on using the Mori to begin with (this was the pre-nerf Mori). That makes people think you might just have a Yellow Mori and thus they get brave and come out more. We get more of a game and people get to have a bit of fun. Then... when you got several people down on the ground, you reveal the terror of what you have and revel in the despair...
But downing people the moment you get one down? Co'mon, that's a misuse of the offering. Especially when it actually hurts your rank to use it ASAP
-
@Timmylaw said:
Pretty simple solution, mori becomes usable after all survivors have been hooked once. Voila, no more tunneling first survivor off hook.
This seems reasonable to me, actually

Regarding rank reset update:
One serious problem we had was people who don't play a lot who still want to rank up. Sure, playing a game a month just isn't enough. But when it takes quite a few games to get from 15 to 5 and each month it knocks you right back down, that's not fun, nor is it indicative of how good you are at the game.
Also, the system knocked everyone from 1 down to 10, and then various ranks down to 15 depending on how far from 1 you were. Given how the matchmaking algo works (in order to get queue times down), that meant every single player in the entire pool was a legal target to play with every other player in the pool.
Thank you so much for this. I don't play much anymore for various reasons. And one thing that keeps me from coming back is the knowledge that I've been pushed down so far I have to fight through the low ranks to get decent teammates again.
And as a killer, it's kinda boring ripping through bad survivors because I've been pushed down so far.
-
My vote is for Bond as it tells you everything Empathy does but for all 4 people and they won't have to be injured to show up.
-
Kindred should be a perk given out to all level 1 survivors for free IMO
-
80 seconds to solo a gen
120 seconds to die on first hook
there are 4 survivors
A killer who camps on first hook should be losing 3 gens....
DO THE BLOODY GENS
-
Given the number of drops I've seen on first down (or even first hit), I'd say this system was long overdue.
LOOOOOONG overdue.
-
Interesting perk, but ultimately I felt like I'd better serve my teammates with something like We'll Make It.

You want to run enduring maybe spirit fury/brutal and get stunned at every pallet to clear the map...
Only bad killers respect and don't eat stuns every chase
If you have to clear the map of pallets to catch anybody, you are doing it wrong.
-
@Exerlin said:
I think a better synergy would be with PWYF. Especially since it happens when you get stunned, it'll become incredibly easy to lose chase with your new obsession.
That could work in theory - you'll always have a speed token after a stun.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
those survivor perks tho ..
Honestly, the only survivor perk I perceive as problematic is By Any Means. The ability to reset pallets is huge.
But Lucky Break is once per trial and I suspect doesn't hide sounds of pain.
Break Out has a handful of killer perks that can effectively counter it if it becomes meta.
-
Dying Light tokens aren't gained from hooking the obsession.
It could work on a killer that doesn't have to pallet dive regularly - but I do see this working on stealth killers who are free to juggle and are good at getting in surprise hits. I suspect this might be good in the hands of an expert Wraith.

picking nemesis into dying light is horrible, remember if they even PALLET STUN YOU the person you chase becomes your obsession
Not every survivor you chase will stun you - unless you utterly suck ass as a killer.
I see this actually working well with stealth killers who are good at getting the first hit in and are able to juggle. They'll be free to kill or switch their obsession as needed.
And thinking about it, Blood Echo has some potential on Legion or Plague as those killer's typically have multiple survivors wounded most of the game.
-
I don't see the harm in it myself - let people have their fun
If you can't handle it, I hear Civ5 is a fun alternate game to play while you wait for people to blow through their stacks.
This game seems a lot less stressful when you stop making it your only form of entertainment.
-
If Breakout becomes meta, we have ways of dealing with this.
- Iron Grip
- Agitation
- Mad Grit
So pick your poison
Actually, Nemesis can put a canceled obsession perk back into play if that's your thing (kinda like how DS will do that already). I can see it seeing some use along side something like Dying Light to keep the slowdown in play as long as possible.
But hey, if you like slugging and are into Meme builds - Nemesis, Knock Out, Dark Devotion.

Nope, oni is that commander from breach. Explains the height , armor and weapon.
Don't look now, but Oni also has Shugoki's weapon when he enter's wrath mode. XD

i have a question. he has 2 abilities right, so one is the lunge with a 1 hit down. and the other is like a chainsaw sprint. So can you use this second ability to transfer into the first ability? or is it supposed to be used as a way to go from gen to gen. It's a very stiff camera movement so it cant be used in tight corners right?
I watched Pain Reliever a on the Onii a bit and he indicated that you do suffer a turn penalty when using the demon charge. Ending it seems to give you a one hit down if you connect.
-
Feels like a cross between Billy and Myers to me. Has to charge his one shot like Myers and gets a lunge attack like Myers, but gets a sprint simular to Billy
-

No one mentions that jumping off now gonna be silent and you actually can stealthily get away with it?
My thought exactly. Balanced landing might actually become part of some people's stealth builds now.
-
I'm fine with it, and here's my reasoning.
If you do so well that you manage to hook somebody but still down the guy who got rescued before the minute is up, you're on the upswing anyway. Slugging, while it does not progress the hook, does delay the game and buy you time. Niether the slugged person on the ground or the person who is coming to rescue them will be progressing the gens.
As for them jumping in lockers... well, they beat you to the locker - deal with it. Find another target or eat the DS
Remember, if you eat the DS, it's gone for the rest of the game.
-
*pitches a tent and roasts marshmallows in this thread*
What? I thought this was a camping thread.

Never forget, Trailers can be deceiving.
I remember a certain edgy boy coming off as a disguising killer in his trailer but just runs fast and wounds...

Thats kensei, not shugoki.
Kensei isn't 8 feet tall though, Shugoki is.
I'll grant you the weapon and helmet is more like Kensei's though
-
My first thought when I saw the trailer was "Oh god, they brought Shugoki from For Honor into the game.
I'm strangely okay with this. Especially if the Mori involves sitting down hard on the survivor.
Yes, I'm kidding.... a little...

If Survivors get a stack of WGLF as well, sure.
That's reasonable.
-
I disagree, he had very little viable counterplay to all but the most skilled survivors. And even then, he felt like a chore to play against.
-
I'm of the opinion that if your dominating them so bad that you down two people less than a minute after the unhook, you can afford to let them lie there more or even eat the DS and take it out of play completely.
No change required.
-
I suspect that they didn't change it because they felt it the killer has a viable counterplay to it that plays into what the devs intended for the perk - to be anti-tunnel.
If it's penalty wasn't tough enough, it wouldn't discourage tunneling hard enough.
-

I gotta say. That the discussions are real interesting here. I know we will always see the killer that LOVES these ideas, because of SWF. But when it comes to solo playing. Yeah, it is a WHOLE different situation.
Again, NO DC punishment role-outs until COUNTERPLAY is addressed. Bottom line. The game already has bad enough Que times the way it is.
The game LITERALLY crashes more often than not, and the fancy Unreal ENGINE cannot detect those. Out of all the times my game has "flat-lined" i've only seen the unreal engine error message "send to studios XYZ message" maybe... three times at best.
FIX
- SLUGGED survivor issues.
- Camping.
- End Game Collapse. RNG of the gates is terrible. That pretty much condemns the match if the exit gates are NOT opposite of one another.
Simple. REMOVE the closing of the hatch. If the survivor wants a stand-off. It still doesn't happen.
Distortion needs unlimited ticks.
- 9 ticks is how often BBQ will proc. NOT 3!!! The perk is washed out too fast.
- Nurses calling does MORE than that.
-----------
My Sympathies.
From a developement standpoint. YES, I agree. I would be literally banging my head against the desk. Knowing that all the work I just did. My boss would want this revised. (Or my instructor). I've been there for Linux De-bugging classes and would facepalm or grumble. I was on a team in college for Linux server class and would say that the words "SUDO" and having to make countless directories haunted me in my sleep. Let's talk about those Dell PowerEdge Blade servers and "OSCAR". Good old "OSCAR" and CAT IOS was an evil tormentor from "below". ;-P
Distortion with unlimited charges would be overpowered. It already gives you 3 outs in which you can extrapolate what the killer is using and thus start developing a counterplay. It's a great perk in and off itself and needs no change.
Using your DC argument to push your agenda of getting certain things you don't like changed is pretty weak.
-
She still bypasses survivor defenses as good as she ever did once you are in the loop.
All this talk that she's been killed is hyperbolic nonsense. She still arguably an S tier killer.
By the way, time played means nothing. I've watched people suck their way to the top of plenty of games - this one is no different. Your argument from authority is worthless.
-
The only valid reasons to DC are as follows....
- A emergency has occurred and you have to go. At which point, a cool down doesn't affect you anyway.
- The game has bugged out in such a way the game cannot be finished. (Survivor clipped into an object and can't be downed by the killer and thus the gens cannot be finished)
- You are just done with the game and don't plan on coming back for the rest of the night. Nobody should play angry or be forced to play angry. If you get angry enough to do this often enough to get a cooldown anyway - you got deeper issues and shouldn't be playing anyway.
Any other reason is not valid, period. If you got a problem with the game, don't punish the people who choose to play it anyway.
-
You disconnected when you still had a minute to live...
You basically did the killer a favor and allowed them to go after gens....
I'm not sure how that punishes the killer. If anything, you just encouraged him to camp the next guy
congratulations, you're part of the problem.
-
I'm sorry, but given the sheer volume of changes your proposing, I can't help but think this isn't the game for you.
-
Doctor main here with some suggestions you can try.
Stealth Doctor (usually done with a green Calm Addin) - Run Monitor and Abuse with a green Calm addin and you'll have a respectibly small 16 meter terror radius when in punishment mode. The idea is to not keep your Treatment mode on all the time. Just approach areas you think the survivors are at and turn it on the moment you realize somebody might be nearby to try and flush them out. You can run pretty much anything you want with this - the idea is just to leverage MnA with Calm stacked on it to surprise survivors.
Rail Gun Doctor - (Meme build for funsies) Run Polished Electrode with Interview Tape. This gives you a massive 35 meter shock. Throw on Monitor And Abuse and your Terror Radius goes down to 28 meters which allows you to shock people from outside your terror radius. I typically run Nurses Calling when I'm derping around with this as Nurse's calling's range is shorter than your shock range. So if you can see them on Nurses, you can goose them with your shock. Use whatever you want for your other perks. The idea is to just goof off with the addins and hit people on gens from extreme range for giggles - this is not a serious build.
Skill Checks Are Dumb - Most newbie docs start off with this. Be warned, you'll get a lot of salt from using this. The build is generally a combination of Distressing and Disturbing Presence. This bloats your terror radius to 40 meters and gives everybody in your terror radius smaller skill checks. When combined with the random skillchecks that show up in madness 1 and 2, this means lots of skill checks will be missed by all but the more skilled players. This generally works as your slowdown. If you are feeling particularly mean, you can stack this with Huntress Lullaby for maximum Salt mining. The one time I managed to get 5 stacks doing this (it was on Lery's), the amount of missed skill checks was truly glorious
For your other two killers (Wraith and Gordan), I would suggest dropping Overcharge for Pop Goes The Weasel. Both killers have the mobility to get back to gens after hooking people and you'll get way more regression from that kick than a missed skillcheck on Overcharge.

I'm not saying I have a bad connection but when I do, I do what you say, but for newer players it would be not only irritating for de-pipping when your internet messes up even just from one game but if they were to be suspended for a period of time, it could be a push factor of the game.
League of Legends institutes a penalty for abandoning the game from day 1 of your account, it hasn't been hurt. In fact, it remains to be a juggernaught
This method has been proven time and time again.
And frankly, if a new player is pushed away from a game that punishes them for disconnecting, I'm not sure I want them as part of the community anyway.
As I said, if somebody has crap internet, they should be fixing that before they play online games. Doing otherwise is rude.

You can't always depend on that system though, some people have bad internet and it is not their fault, dealing with this in R6 made me not want to play the game anymore
I have an answer for that....
You see, I've both had bad internet and teammates with bad internet. And you know what my conclusion is?
If you have bad internet, stay away from multiplayer games until you get it corrected. END OF STORY
I tell people in the lobby when they say they might drop because of bad internet to please leave, because I don't need the team to be potentially short-handed. That's just ######### rude man.
When my internet is crapping out and having a bad day, I play something else. It's rude to keep trying to play a multiplayer game when you have crap internet and know it.
Note i said start out with a small penalty. So you get a chance to realize "hey, maybe I shouldn't be doing this because my internet is crap tonight"
But if you persist to try and play despite your issues over the course of a couple days, you deserve a much harsher penalty for being so goddamn rude to your fellow players.
-
Institituting a crackdown on habitual disconnects would be my top priority. I'd start with a 15 minute cooldown to getting new lobbies anytime you disconnect. Start doing it more often than that, the cooldown will get longer. Make a career of it, you might need to find a different game.
Mechanically, the game isn't as big of a mess for the average player as people like to make it out to be. The thing that turns me off the most is the player-base.
-
This whole thread is just sad....
I feel like I'm watching US Politics right now - this community is just as divided. Everybody yelling past each other but nobody really listening. Nobody really wants to stop and consider what the other has to say or how they feel.
Our world is doomed....
-
Like they haven't made positive changes to killers like Wraith or Trapper in the past, give me a flippin' break.
-
We've come a long way from how hexes used to be. While I'm sure there is some room for improvement, we no longer have the "lit up totem" in the middle of the street or on top of the hill of shame.
This change that the OP has requested is unnecessary. Totems have to be findable and removable to justify their power.
Now, if you want to say certain hexes just aren't powerful enough to justify being a totem, that's a discussion we can have.
-
Like you aren't supposed to return to the hook at any time, amiright?
Ignore it. People are gonna fuss no matter what you do.
-
My name isn't Jeff, it's fat Jesus
Ace used to be my main, but Fat Jesus has grown on me.
-
The addin that increases her speed after a lethal hit (but disables her blink) feels like such a waste.
You give up so much map pressure and ability to juggle by disabling your power - having regular speed just doesn't justify that handicap.
-
I wouldn't doubt for a second that Jason would be in this game if it wasn't for that messy lawsuit that, last I heard, was still on-going.
-
I miss Bahroo sometimes, his were always the most entertaining.
These days most of my time is seeing Tru3's videos simply because Twitch is blocked from work now and Tru3 will mix up builds and test them - so it's interesting to see how they work.
That being said, I'll always watch anything Ardetha or Pain Reliever put out because their perspectives differ and I like to consider these alternate perspectives. (Ardetha helped me mix up my Doc gameplay with his "Calm Doc" build)
My favorite Streamer (and I wish I could catch him more) is TheEntityLeftHand. I know a lot of people find his roleplay cringe and that's fine. I just appreciate that he sticks to his boy Trapper and doesn't deviate from his chosen path despite what others say. (and goddamn, he's good at Trapper. I've faced him before, he's terrifying) He's also cultivated one of the most toxic-free chat's I've ever seen in this community.
-
the hard counter to keys is to start slugging before the hatch appears in an attempt to get everybody down.
The hatch spawns when Gens complete+survivors dead/exit = 5. So start slugging before that number comes up.
That's the best counter to the tactic.
