I've been lamenting the death of Pharmacy ever since it was killed and left to rot.
I never took to self care, but I liked the idea of a Nurse having her trusty medkit. You can gift them to friends, or drop them or just overall play around Franklins. Was super fun to roll with Ace in the Hole
I am so back, guys. I've waited literal years for Pharmacy to be usable again!

So I'll preface this - I'm really excited for Shoulder the Burden. I think it's an excellent addition to anti-tunneling tools. And I'm thrilled to have a cultist and an actual evil survivor - no semi-amoral producers this time, no tortured pillow fight champions or numbers guys who were accidentally responsible for war crimes and felt super guilty about them, no, this one is straight up evil. Was in the middle of abducting and murdering Haddie's brother for the Entity and froze up for a second, then steeled herself through and was going to commit, and the Entity is punishing her for her moment of hesitation. She still worships it and wants it to forgive her so it can make her a killer, which means killing the survivors she is now surviving alongside, because she liked the feeling of being powerful and stalking the Entity's realm. She's more deliberately evil than a lot of the killers we have. Hell, she did more to participate in premeditated murder than Susie ever did, to say nothing of Artist or Spirit or Wraith.
Which is why I think it's weird that all of her perks, and quotes, are super altruistic.
She can throw away a permanent health state to give the whole team (really terrible and undertuned) aura reading. She can take people's hook states, which is like For The People Mega Ultra Plus levels of altruism. She has a self-healing perk, but it only works if you heal someone else and then actively get another survivor to start healing you, so it's actually a "don't waste time healing me, I'll heal you and then take care of myself!" thing.
The last time we had a survivor who was meant to be dubiously moral, Yun-Jin, most of her perks reflected her selfishness - profiting from teammates being hooked, staying hidden while other teammates got chased nearby. It feels like Taurie was given her perks at random, if not given perks for a completely different character.
Pillow fight champions LOL that made my day!!
p.s. great post! I’m excited too ☺️(っ'-' )╮ =͟͟͞͞ ⬜

I can’t really disagree with any of your suggestions - seems a generally fair and balanced trade off :)
I do however, in general feel that an overload of aura perks are seriously unhealthy for the game as they make the bar for newer players’ entry into the game significantly more steep.

I took a break halfway through the event and Im going back to grind through all the stuff before the event ends… and it is absolutely miserable.
Ive had several games where the Killer hard tunnels out a player to remove them as fast as possible, often leaving us with 1 Dead at 3 - 4 Generators remaining, and then they just starting hard slugging the entire team or continuing to tunnel but with the next person they hook.
Earlier I had a game where a P100 Wraith hard-tunneled a Mikaela at the start of the game, and then proceeded to slug the entire team, bled me out while doing nothing but ringing the bell and nodding, but hooked me right before I fully bled out just to spend the rest of the time hitting me on hook.
The game before that I had a really good Dracula player but they ended up tunneling 1 player out, slugged 2 AFK players, and was hell-bent on killing me by any means necessary, only to crap-talk in the post-game chat despite the fact I had literally everything working against me.
Game after game after game it has just been miserable, I had been bleed out several times, hard-tunneled before I cant even work on my archive several times (I can handle being chased, just it interferes with archives), and while part of it is a skill issue, I really have no idea what to do, I just kind of feel hopeless.
Hey @Iron_Cutlass I wish I was someone good enough at chases myself to be able to offer better help but, if you ever need a teammate who can be a.. maybe not a sword and shield, but a twig and pot lid, let me know! I will keep boon exponential up and be at hand with for the people solely for the purpose of seeing your objectives done - I don’t mind dying or getting tunnelled (though it will be brief lol) if it helps you with time to do what you need to do :)
-
That’s as good a reason as any!
🔥🔥🧢👧🏽✨🇧🇷🔥🔥
-
I’ll usually always offer my boon and the kill to a killer if either the game is farming, or if I’m the last person and little or no chance to escape or if sometimes the killer was just really good and definitely deserves the 4K I will usually always offer the kill, but will gratefully accept if they refuse :)
-
What I find interesting is that sometimes there will be an argument of not changing the status quo because it will “be abusable” by bully squads (which I do agree is possible) but by not changing things.. it is currently abusable by (not all, but the toxic bully equivalent of) killers. So either way (enabling prolonged slugging of all, or a comeback mechanic) can be abused, but it currently favours killers. And like you quoted, the argument is well that is the game and it’s allowed so valid. But it’s arbitrary - as the game can have anything nerfed, added or taken away and it’ll become the new normal.
My issue is that this abusable mechanic (slugging) of course has valid reasons at times as others have mentioned but it is currently and historically has been a mechanic that takes away agency from a whole set of players. There is little or no absolute comparatively similar mechanic that removes agency from killers (perhaps a momentary stun lock or flashbang when facing walls?) but nothing which will leave them unable to play the game or continue their objectives while waiting 4 minutes until the game ends.
I think it is an unhealthy mechanic honestly. It will further divides between increasingly partisan player bases, deter newer players and decrease skill for those who aggressively utilise it.
@TotemsCleanser said:
Slugging has skyrocketed so much lately that it's only a matter of time before the devs actually nerf it somehow. And then all the aggressively slugging defenders will whine about their epic "valid because BHVR doesn't punish it" strategy being nerfed. But when it happens I'll argue that you only reap what you sow. I'll only feel sorry for those of us who every now and then slug a bit because we have no other choice, since we'll too be paying the price for those who abuse the mechanic.

Myers is probably thematically the closest thing to what DBD represents and gives the most heart in mouth moments.
A category are killers I personally enjoy facing the most and rhough with mixed results, I find their powers the most balanced and conducive to close and fun matches. B are killers that I can enjoy the matches tho vomit lady generally negates my play style, its not overly oppressive when in a team.
C are those killers I don’t really have a positive or negative opinion against.
D killers I generally don’t like playing against
No: I just don’t like playing against these killers - generally tedious or overly sweaty. Also I just don’t like Weskers chase music and the fact that he ‘feels’ sweaty.
… tbh I don’t and have never had a personal issue with skull merchant that much it’s just that most teammates in soloq always gave up against her so they weren’t great experiences.
Spirit and especially Trickster I actively dislike and most of the toxicity I’ve faced in the game has been overwhelmingly displayed by these killers. Most (but of course not all!) of the players I’ve faced with these two killers tend to be sweatier than a rugby sock. 🧦💦

All jokes aside, that might be a good idea! Maybe not tamagotchi but some kind of side game, I don’t know maybe even access to spending bloodpoints on the web or - something? lol
I would even say a way of remotely working on a Gen at much slower speeds after a certain duration of being left slugged but I can only imagine the pitchforks that would come out so yeah, maybe feeding one bit digital pets will cause less outrage lol

I usually play the game in total silence with a very good headset accurate enough to let me hear a survivor breathing.
But today I was only doing the rift for the event so I wasn't playing seriously. I was on Discord speaking with friends while playing as killer. After all, getting only five pallets or a few hooks is easier than winning a game.
For my last few matches of the night, I took Huntress just to aimlessly throw a few hatchets. I didn't even plan to get the golden medals for the rift. The discussion was still going on and I had muted the game. The map was RPD.
On Discord I was explaining some technical issue and how I solved it and wasn't paying attention to the game at all.
After a couple of minutes (maybe a bit more) I landed back on Earth and I realized I had already killed two survivors with 3 gens left.
I have no idea how I did it.
Later in the chat one survivor commented on my good mind games and looping.
Mind? My mind wasn't there at all.
The only thing that I can imagine is that maybe my subconscious mind was playing for me while I was otherwise occupied.
Has it ever happened to you?
probably your muscle memory and instincts kicked in which has mind games baked in - good stuff :)

yes and I don’t even need extended breaks to be bad lol
It used to be that I watched YouTube videos in between matches on bad days. But now, with YouTube ads getting worse and more frequent and my bad days on DBD seeing matches at 4K on record times, its almost as if I play DBD in between YouTube ads some days lol

Aside from maybe removing the way the screen darkens with time as a quality of life improvement, I really have no idea. Some of you guys are talking like it's gonna be a buff to the status, when I think a more likely scenario is a nerf or rework to make it less tedious to Survivors. I personally don't mind the deep wound mechanic but we all find different things annoying and I think deep wound is likely to be something that a lot of other players have grumbled about in feedback surveys.
Please BHVR, just don't do something that's going to make Survivors hate my Legion more than they already do or to make Solo Q a misery. It's true that they're not much of a threat against skilled loopers and their counter play is frustratingly dull for both sides, but the last thing low MMR Survivors would like to see is Legion with a better 1 vs 1 power. I want to see some Legion buffs, but not like this.
honestly your comment is really refreshing.
For more experienced survivors, they kind of know a lot of the macro strategies (don’t keep healing against legion, cleanse against plague etc) so adding extra complexity will be an annoyance but ultimately worked around grudgingly by experienced players.
For new players though.. yeah I think it will severely impact their already slim chances.
one thing I think we all need to understand about DBD is that it is a mature game - 8 years in. So even though nerfs and buffs have always happened, you have a core group of the player base who have a ‘baseline’ which they have acclimatised to and can work with changes (begrudgingly so at times) but for newer players, it will not be the game that the core players grew to love when first playing.
And of course this is for all perks on all sides. My point is not “buff survivor nerf killer” it is that we have to be very cautious and considerate of the effect on the wider player base. Of course, very problematic/weak perks probably should be nerfed/buffed but in general, we should remember what made us enjoy/get frustrated with the game and think of how much more these things can be magnified for newbies who have much more maps, powers and perks to learn when joining. They may not have the patience to overcome overly unforgiving obstacles.
We might argue and say as a mature game it should cater only or mainly to the older player base, but if you love the game you would want it to succeed. We are going to reach a point someday where new blood will be the only thing keeping the game alive so it has to remain accessible.

it might need 2 months before linked accounts can be unlinked. When and for how long has the switch account been linked for?

So, earlier today I got a daily ritual to kill one survivor as Freddy. I tried to go for Devour Hope because I wanted to use an event offering instead of a Mori... totem barely lasts, of course. Coldwind Farm has some really bad totem spots.
I played the rest of the match and made one hell of an effort to stop those gens, because Freddy. Somehow managed to succeed. But the moment I got Aestri down for the finisher mori, my game crashes.
Fantastic.
I know how that feels and it is the worst haha but well done - let’s acknowledge it as you know you did everything your part :)
on a side note, I remember there was this day where I had the ultimate horrible DBD day of basically not escaping for like countless games in a row in soloQ and then finally, FINALLY had a perfect game where I got a few gens done (I think most of the games prior to it were like 4K at 4/5 gens lol), unhooked most of my teammates, saves a few with for the people and got a few slugs up with my boon expo, even lasted 15 seconds in chase (trust me, for me that is practically as rare as a 5 gen chase lol) and got away…
All the way to the exit!
then the connection cut.😔

the wolf, the bats, the hellfire everything honestly. Everything boring about dbd in 1 killer.
so it’s the theme and aesthetic? I mean the hellfire is similar to PH and I’ve seen some killers use it very effectively. He’s still very early days so I’m sure people will find surprisingly newer ways of using him.
bur at the end of the day, with such a large roster of characters and powers, it’s inevitable there will be some that somebody doesn’t like. I personally wouldn’t consider him boring due to his variety alone and there isn’t anything inherently ‘broken’ about him, but everybody’s mileage varies I suppose.

I think this is where the spirit of the game is more important than the technical rule of law. We can defend it and try to shirk it off all we want but the most important take away from me was that the sheer injustice of it made the OP consider whether to play the game again or not. For this and other reasons I very sadly cannot recommend the game to other friends.
Rules are rules of course. But many have an arbitrary justification - you can justify almost any form of grieving if you really want to “it’s thematic to horror”.
This game is a maturing game where new players’ entry level is getting steeper and steeper and even older players will get fatigue at some point. I desperately feel the game should focus its resources on a feature to record games or triggers to capture enhanced data in moments like this to know he the overall health and quality of the game. It’s my sincerest hope that such people who do the kinds of things OP mentioned and get away with it until now can be brought to justice. In an ideal scenario there will be a meaningful anti-prolonged slugging in this fashion by virtue of being restricted by mechanics but it just simply has to go.
The ability for one side to remove agency of the other in this fashion is going to build up an imbalanced level of frustration and will divide the player base further. Things are already at a crescendo in some ways. This cannot be healthy or considered acceptable.
So no, OP, it isn’t against the rules sadly. But Yes, i agree with every fibre of my being that it is absolutely horrible and should be.

I was sure they would be mad, but i actually got a "gg" after the game.
But i made a sport out of making a fun comeback when they act like that. for example "you are bad" - > "I guess thats why we were teamed up against each other" some times even the other survivors end up laughing. :)

Yeah, when I started in 2018 the new player experience was awesome!
Well, except for Old Legion that is.
yes it’s a very difficult one to juggle for a mature game - powers, perks and balances are added almost on the assumption that there is a core player base that are totally comfortable with the status quo and the new stuff is a newer more complex level of challenge.
I think that may definitely be the case for some but it tends to be the more skilled players who at the heart of it, if you take away all perks and powers, they have an incredible level of fluency.
A survivor who can loop very well or stealth (not talking about perks but knows when to jump off a Gen before killer engages and/or work a map) will be able to utilise resources to prolong chase irrespective of their perks and items.
A killer whose macro play and pressure ability is so on point will wear down and throttle progression even without their perks or add-ons, such is their grasp and command over their character or through map knowledge, behavioural predictions and pathing.
Everything else is a facilitation or an enhancement of this. The different methods that exist with perks and powers enables someone who isn’t a natural looper or strong in chase as killer to try to progress through other means until they slowly get better at the core above. But when the layers of complexity (in my opinion the overload of auras) involves drastic deviations from this core, it makes it a very hard level of entry as you can’t easily improve the core that seasoned players have instilled in them. This is what makes it very difficult to get a beer player into it without asking them to suffer before deciding whether they’ll keep playing or get the hang of it.
Quite a bad example but it popped into my head, it’s like someone playing a fighting game like street fighter and you can understand the basic concepts of attack, block, use power. But before getting into a rhythm of doing a few punches and hadokens, you’re gonna get battered to death by optimised techs, toe pokes and light punches and then added invisible powers which aren’t the exception to the normal gameplay but defines the new gameplay.

What a great post!
Killers and Survivors who make this game what it is are amazing. I’ve learned from so many killers who, recognising they’ve utterly outclassed the opposition, will provide looping practice and not just farm. Of course they’re under no obligation to do so but I see it as a wonderfully classy move that someone is clearly better, they can break character for a bit to empathise.
I had a match against a slinger in soloq just earlier who probably could have hooked everyone 20 times each by the time we would have got a Gen done lol but they could recognise there were 1 or 2 babies in the team and didn’t stomp on their fragile hearts. I gave them myself to sacrifice as it shouldnt always be the killer who has to show their goodwill in such situations

…
What?
Where is the list? - I want you to write it. :D
I think DBD should have even more players, but why do you guys think it doesn't?
The only "rules" are: Be open and honest, you are free to write as many reasons as you want, humor is very welcome.
I actually wrote this in the player survey for the question ‘would you recommend to friends etc’ I said I can’t in this current state of the game recommend the game to newer players because the learning curve would be far, far too steep.
When I first joined the game, the many perks and killer powers and add ons , strategies (don’t cleanse against plague, don’t heal against legion etc) and countless do’s and dont’s in terms of ‘etiquette’, etc was super difficult to grasp. The actual difficult in things like looping for example are things I still find difficult but have learnt to somewhat counteract it in other ways (with varying degrees of success).
I can explain to them the concept that look, there are these things called generators and you have to fix them. If you’re a killer, you’ll want to stop them being progressed. There are perks and items and powers that can increase or decrease and can be frustrating but that is the strategy element.
But the overwhelming number of auras and the fact that things like slugging exist (I’m not commenting here as to if it should or shouldn’t or that I don’t understand why some feel it is ‘needed’, but the fact is it does) means I wouldn’t want my friends not in the game to experience these without having to drop thousands of hours (and more difficult hours than my time in the game).
The paradox here being that my favourite game no question is the one that I can’t recommend (in its current guise anyway) to others even though I’m always talking about it to them.

Steam→Library→right-click the game: Properties →Installed Files →Verify the integrity of game files.

Yes, same.
I'm not using any modification, filter, …
It's the plain install.
The most annoying part is that the file EAC points to wasn't modified after verifying the files yet it didn't complain anymore when I've restarted the game.
(Like the Steamdeck, I'm also using Proton, v9 for DBD)
honestly I wouldn’t even know how to verify a file etc lol steamdeck does have desktop mode but I rarely go into except on a couple occasions to do random non game related stuff (and certainly not into any game files - that would terrify me lol)

So like a few days ago, EAC is giving me some error.
This time I took a screenshot.

Naturally, I've looked at the incriminated file and did an sha256sum of it:

I asked Steam to verify the cache and after the operation, I've looked at the sha256sum again:5584785a9887f5159ff5f3f47b15bd42ff97039681804a84e623cfedb9aec64c pakchunk3052-Windows.utoc
I'm almost certain EAC will not complain anymore when I'll restart the game. These issues have started only a few days ago.
What's going on?
I’ve had something similar happen around once a week where it says kicked due to EAC something something (I’ve never changed or modified anything in the game) I update my steamdeck or restart it and it seems to fix itself but not sure what is causing it in the first place. I’m scared I’ll lose all my progress one of these days without knowing what is causing it (I literally play vanilla on steamdeck - no added files and I don’t tinker with settings at all except for in game settings
