Hello, i’ve been trying to complete this challenge, but for some reason it doesn’t work, i used the perk, i unhooked a survivor safely (i got the 500 bloodpoints for that, so i know it was safely) and it dosent count, do i need to take the 4 protection hits as well ? It said « or »... but who knows....
This thread is about the perk, not the challenge, so it's not the best place to ask a question like that. But I can see you're new to the forum, so it's okay 😊 Welcome!
Also, I'll answer your question. The requirements for that challenge are not very clearly worded. You have to unhook four survivors safely, or take four protection hits, or a combination of the two (e.g. two safe unhooks and two protection hits). The requirements for the challenge could be better understood as "on four separate occasions in a single match, rescue a survivor from the hook safely or take a protection hit". So it sounds like your problem is that you only managed one safe unhook. Hope that helps!

24 hour period since your last DC, after 24 hours since your last DC it goes down a tier and that repeats until you either DC again or hit 0 on the penalty bar.
How do we know that?

I'm still hoping for the Siren, although I know it doesn't fit with the teaser. I just don't find any of the other possibilities I've heard suggested at all exciting.

I'll watch it in bits while I queue as survivor.
But that's not my complaint, this is not a summary, it's more like a transcript, you went far to detail about the mcdonalds wifi and all that... I think you can skip those parts or make a more compact summary. I think you can achieve the same goal with half of what you wrote, or even less maybe.
Thank you for the feedback, but there is a reason why I do it the way I do. Including only the most important parts would defeat the purpose. As I explained, this is intended to serve essentially as a complete record of all the information that was shared, so that anyone who reads it will have all the same information as someone who watched the stream. It's okay if it's not for you, but a lot of people find this level of detail extremely helpful, myself included.
If you've ever heard the expression "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" - that's why I include details, because I know that people are going to draw conclusions based off this information even if I tell them to take it with a grain of salt, and contextual details are therefore just as important to include as the main points.

I'm not calling you rude, I'm saying that what you did was rude.
I'm sorry if I'm very direct in what I say, but you have to understand that I took my time in studying if and how there were discrepancies between the information we were given (not to mention to show them), and having you trying to downplay everything to rounding errors, that I implied that someone was lying, or that I could fuel conspiracy theories wasn't exactly a pleasant experience.
Even the fact that you say that my intentions might have been different from how they appeared to you, when I just told you that you misread them, is still rude on your part, I've got to be honest.
But whatever, we are going off topic now, I won't comment any further on this. If you want you can DM me.
Sorry, but at the point where you're quibbling over the verb tense I used to accuse me of further rudeness, it seems like you're just determined to take everything I say in bad faith. I agree, ending the discussion here seems like a wise choice.

I already told you in the past that you shouldn't assume things, that's a bit rude.
As written in the second edit of my previous reply, there's something wrong, either on Almo's statement or in the picture used. That's not the same thing as implying that someone is lying, though.
In fact, I'm simply curious to understand why there's that big of a difference in what we see and what we feel in-game (in fact, I'm more prone to believe that @Almo 's statement is exactly right, but still, the picture says something else).
I'm trying to meet you halfway here. Calling me rude when I already acknowledged that your intentions might have been different from how they appeared to me, and explained that my response had as much to do with concern for how others would react as it did to do with your individual perspective, is rather harsh.
-
It's intended to deliver all the information that was given on the stream so that anyone who doesn't want to or can't watch the stream can read these notes and not miss out on anything important. It will certainly take a shorter time to read through this post than it will to watch the stream, but if reading isn't for you, you can always watch the stream for yourself. Fib, I think it would be better if you let a Dev answer properly instead of speculating on things.
If you think that I make 6% sound more dramatic than it is, then think about this:
My height is 1,80 meters.
If yours is 96% of mine, you are 1,73 meters.
But if you are 90%... you are 1,62m.
10+ cm is not a lot, in your experience?
EDIT: we are not talking about differences of a few pixels, please Fib, understand that.
We could be, though. We don't know how accurate or to-scale those images are, that's my point.
It seemed, from the way you worded your original comment, like you were suggesting Almo wasn't telling the truth. That kind of thing is concerning to me, because every day on the forums I see people misunderstand things the developers say and invent conspiracy theories using "proof" to make them look like they're trying to deceive their players. In my experience, people who are looking for reasons to be upset tend to jump on comments like yours saying things like "you're right, the devs are liars, they obviously don't know what they're talking about, how can we trust anything they say, etc."
If you weren't suggesting anything along those lines, I'm glad to hear it, I just felt the need to step in and provide a possible alternate explanation before speculations got too out of hand.
-
This is why DC penalties are necessary.

that's not really a valid argument, we are talking about more than double the error.
For reference, here's how the two would compare visually speaking
"More than double" makes 6% sound a lot more dramatically large than it is. You should never trust visual approximations when you're dealing with precise arithmetic. Your method is valid as an estimation technique, but not a solid enough basis on which to suggest that the supplied figures are incorrect. For the record, I agree that it looks strange, but that proves nothing when an equally valid explanation is that those visualisations just aren't pixel-perfect representations.

Is it, though?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/372/YJQAABA4ZVO2.jpg
According to the gif posted by @Peanits the diameter of a survivor is just 4% smaller than the killer one.
What am I missing?
Probably the fact that those are only visual approximations. Trying to do any precise arithmetic based on those measurements is like applying Pythagoras' Theorem to a triangle which looks like it could be right-angled and expecting it to work perfectly.
-
You mean the one which barely worked because the only people who got punished by it were those who used the "Leave Game" button in 80% of their matches, and those who only disconnected 75% of the time, or those who did it by turning off the game or unplugging their internet, got off scot-free?
No thank you. I'd rather have the 5-minute lockout for crashes if it means the games I do play will have 5 people in them instead of 4 or 3.

The Survivor's movement collision capsule is what I was talking about. To quote Peanits: "That is the SlashableZone, the thing used for hitting the survivors. This is not used for movement. The capsules used for movement are shown above."
I'm a bit confused. So just to clarify, are you saying that the collision capsules are the "hitbox" which comes into play where hugging corners is concerned (the slashable zone not being relevant in this scenario), and the survivor and killer collision capsules are actually basically the same size, but the survivor one is very slightly smaller which is why looping is a thing?

If believing that players don't have the right to selfishly do whatever they want when they want at others' expense like spoiled children just because they spent money on the game makes me an annoying no-life, then so be it.

Yes, committed. That's what you're doing when you click the "Ready" button. You're telling all the other players, "let's play a game of Dead By Daylight together", just like if you said to a bunch of your friends in real life, "let's play a game of Monopoly together". You don't get to just quit if things don't go your way after that point. That's rude and selfish, and should be called out in both cases.
-
Yes, you do deserve a penalty for intentionally quitting on four other people with whom you committed to playing a match.
Things do happen to people who are reported, as long as they're reported properly. Camping, tunneling and slugging are not against the rules.
I'm sorry you've decided DBD isn't for you, but I have to be honest - you're going to have a hard time finding another successful online game where you won't get punished for abandoning matches and where no one ever does anything toxic or unsportsmanlike.

To that extent, no, however I can say that a similar bug with the servers in which the killer grabs, gets stuck in animation, and gets denied both the M1 and grab because the survivor got to run away is very common. had it myself and seen it a bunch with streamers.
For the record, that's not a bug in the technical sense of something being wrong with the programming on a fundamental level, it's just a problem with latency. But it is something that the developers are specifically working on fixing and we speak.

Ah, I see. "Can" is a bit of an ambiguous word!
In that case I would be against the idea. Ghostface is already fairly easy to reveal if you know how the reveal mechanic works. Making it even easier would be a huge nerf to the killer, which he doesn't need.

I am no programmer, but the solution is quite simple: Make the aim-dressing cone the same size as the hit cone. That way aim dressing only kicks in on confirmed hits.
I have no idea how the developers cannot come up with that simple solution.
Probably because there's a very good reason why the cones are different sizes to begin with. I don't know what that reason is, but they made the cones the sizes they did deliberately so they must have had a purpose in doing so.

But its not something that can be fixed, its just how it works.
You would have to either delete the system completely and improve hitboxes, or make so that the initial detection zone cant detect through walls.
Also not true. You don't seem to understand how the Aim Dressing works. They explained in the stream exactly what they think the problem could be, and how it would need to be fixed. It's essentially just a matter of what order it does things in: right now, it detects the hit, then moves the camera, then checks if there is anything in the way. What it needs to do is detect the hit, move the camera and then ignore any objects which are now in the way so the hit still goes through.

I appreciate the breakdown but can you sum it up in a meme for those of us who don't read?
I'm not great at making memes, but the very, very barebones summary is:
- Hitboxes are capsule-shaped
- Latency is a thing that exists
- Most of the major technical issues players have with the game boil down to latency issues
- The developers are working on ways to minimise the impact latency has in order to improve the player experience

Yes, it does, assuming the Overcharge skill check is triggered while in the killer's terror radius.
According to the Unnerving Presence page on the official wiki: "Skill Checks caused by Overcharge are affected by the Skill Check success zone reduction, making them extremely difficult to succeed."
Source: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Unnerving_Presence#Trivia
Specifically, Unnerving Presence will reduce the size of the Overcharge skill check by 40/50/60%, depending on the tier of Unnerving Presence.

You don't have to, bug reports aren't compulsory. But the more reports they have, and the more detailed those reports are, the easier and quicker it is for them to find and fix the issue.

The only take away I got from that stream is the word latency is every problem with the game. Every question asked by the community had the same answer. LATENCY.
A lot of the main technical issues people have with the game come down to latency rather than fundamental design flaws, yes. Which is good news, because it means there is one major thing that they need to focus on when it comes to technical improvements, and it seems like that's exactly what they're planning on doing.
-
No, as far as I know it always takes 1.5 seconds to completely reveal Ghost Face. When they said on stream that it uses the same mechanic as stalking, I believe they were just referring to the fact that you have to be able to see a certain percentage of his torso, he has to be close enough and he can't be too far away from the centre of your screen.
-
Potentially. You would have to test it. It depends on how low your hitbox sinks when you crouch, and whether or not it still overlaps with the killer's attack cone.
Basically, the killer has a big cone that extends out in front of them. If the cone overlaps with the survivor's "slashable zone" (hitbox) then they can hit you. Below is a screenshot from the recent dev stream that illustrates what I'm talking about.
The survivor's hitbox does get shorter when they crouch, but I'm not sure if it's short enough to be outside the range of the cone. My guess would be not, just from looking at that picture, but as I mentioned it's something you would need to either test for yourself or get a member of BHVR's Technical Team to confirm.

I'm saying that those Survivors played far worse. Only 1 of them (David) shown skill in chases but the other 3 played rather poorly.
There almost isnt a burden of skill on Survivors. As seen they can constantly be downed left and right without needing to be skilled and still escape. Mistake after mistake only to still have another chance after chance.
Meanwhile if Killer makes 1-2 mistakes the game is almost over. Hyperbole, but close to the truth.
The burden of skill should be on both Killer and Survivor. Having it only on Killer isnt exactly fair. Survivor mistakes should be costly, but that just isnt the case.
And that's a relatively reasonable position to take, but it's not on topic for the comment you were responding to.

Why don't Survivors need to play perfectly then?
Skill is a 2 way street for Killer and Survivor. Asking 1 to be perfect and letting the other half ass isnt fair.
I never said they should. All I said was that it's simply not true that the killer in the video played optimally and didn't make any mistakes, as OP and others have suggested.

I have to respectiely disagree he played extremely optimally ending chases within seconds of starting them, which is what you are supposed to do. Throughout the game as the other survivors were going down there was just one or two people doing gens, but they still managed to get them all done even with the huge amount of pressure that was being done. Also when did skill = doing gens the survivors were terrible at chases and the only one I can see that "outplayed" him was the David King, but even then it wasn't really the nurse's fault they got sidetracked because of how difficult it is to keep an eye on people when fatigued. So no, they were not better than him or even as good as him, they got out purely because gen times are horrific.
Skill has more to do with game sense than it does to do with either generators or chases. The survivors were good not because they ran him around a lot, but because they knew how to manage their time and they made the most of it. He also made several significant mistakes - tunneling Claudette was one, slugging every single time Infectious Fright went off and allowing survivors to get up again several times was another. Some of those should have been slugs, but some really should have been hooks.
As I said, he played well, but he didn't play perfectly. Optimal players don't miss hits, or get surprised by DS, or fail to assume that their opponents are pursuing their objective at all times.

Yep, planning on it! I will be out all day today so the post might arrive a bit later than usual, but definitely within 24 hours of the stream.

Most of the things you claim about the game are simply not true, and are just your inexperience talking. Yes, the game is unbalanced, but not for the reasons you mention. I'm sorry to be so unsympathetic, but "git gud", aka "the game has a steep learning curve and you need to work to improve your skills instead of assuming the game is the problem" is not only valid but really the only response one can give to this.
Some games are not friendly to new players. That doesn't make them objectively bad games. If you expect to be able to pick everything up easily and not have to work a lot at improving before you get even half decent at playing, I'm sorry to say it but maybe Dead By Daylight just isn't the game for you.
-
I don't believe it's been officially confirmed how long it takes to decay completely, but I think it's 24 hours after your last penalty expires.
I don't think you're supposed to get a 15 minute penalty for your second DC, though. I would report it as a bug if I were you (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bug-reports) and hopefully a mod or dev will be able to clarify whether it's an intended feature or not.
Also, if you're having problems with your game crashing consistently and are unsure of the cause, I would advise you to create a post about it in the Technical Issues subforum (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/technical-issues) and see if someone there can help you.
-
No, that's not against the rules and therefore not reportable.
For future reference, if you're not sure what is and is not reportable, there's a complete list of all reportable (and some of the most common non-reportable) offences here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system
-
Yes - not because they want to punish you for your game crashing, but because if they didn't treat crashes as DCs, people could bypass the system too easily by manually forcing the game to close, or turning off their machine.
-
I believe it releases on the 18th. You can check the planned release dates of all levels in the current Tome by checking the News section in-game.

*Looks at tofu mode in RE2 and the many, many costumes for pretty much all the titles.
I think it's fine.
And league was an example of a competitive game doing it, not horror. Because someone above mentioned competitive being a problrm for this type of skins.
The game is horror(kinda), but they don't have to horror it up 100% of the time, it will get boring. Or do you think people use dwelf for it's very serious horror themes? Or ashy slashy? Or pacient myers? Or santa clown?
No, I love Dwelf. I said earlier on in the thread that I don't have a problem with these kind of fun skins in DBD. I'm not trying to argue with you or say that your point is invalid, I was just pointing out for charity's sake that League isn't an entirely fair comparison when talking about whether "fun" skins are a good thing for DBD or not, because the two games are so different in their atmosphere and premise.
-
You kind of answered your own question. Making mending a healing action would make it way too inconsistent, and extremely difficult to balance both it and everything built around it (Legion's power, for instance, being the most obvious example).
-
I personally think Dead Hard is a better perk than Sprint Burst, if we leave the bugs out of the equation, but that might just be because I'm personally a big fan of clutch mechanics.
Dead Hard is just so much more versatile, in my opinion. Being able to dash to avoid a hit doesn't just help in the middle of chases. You can dash past the killer to rescue a camped teammate, you can dash past the killer and escape after opening the exit gate, and you can even use it to avoid Trapper's traps (at least, you used to be able to - I'm not sure if it's an intended mechanic or not). It comes in handy in a lot of clutch situations where you would otherwise go down.
Also, your guess is right - for a mediocre survivor, forcing the killer to miss a single hit doesn't make that much of a difference during a chase, but in top-tier play it can give you the time you need to make it to the next loop and waste another minute or two of the killer's time, which is why it tends to be preferred at elite levels.

We already passed the point of no return.
And funny skins are great. Just look at league of legends, one of the most competitive games out there, it has silly skins everywhere, and people love it.
Also, mr. Puddles was created by the comunity and voted for in a contest
To be fair, League is not and has never pretended to be anything close to horror, so they can afford to go all-out with the meme skins in a way that DBD can't necessarily without affecting the atmosphere of the game dramatically.

@Blinking_Bat said:
His commentary in the video did not line up to what was happening in the game lol. He said "this is top tier nurse game play right here" and "I am completely dominating them" multiple times amidst the pretty average nurse gameplay he was providing...
He swung and missed after blinks about 10 times throughout the video. The accuracy of his blinks was solid at some points and pretty bad at others - there are 5 or 6 chases throughout the vid that could have been finished ~5-10 seconds earlier if he was more accurate with his blinks. When he slugged people, multiple times he decided to pick up the one he had just recently downed instead of the person who had been downed longest. He had 3 chases throughout the match where he completely lost the person and abandoned the chase. He made no attempt to play around DS whatsoever and immediately picked up Claudette a few seconds after she was unhooked. He decided to take that chase instead of going towards the player going for the other unhook - that decision alone would have gotten him a 4k. Amidst all the mistakes this man made, he still was given plenty of opportunities throughout the game to get a 4k, but either made the wrong decision or attempted to make the correct decision but executed it poorly.
It seemed like he wasn't thinking about what the other remaining survivors were doing at all throughout the match. He didn't seem to notice when any survivors were healing or thinking about who could be doing gens and where they were. He didn't seem to use Thrilling Tremors a single time throughout the match to look around at what gens were being worked on. It kiiiiindaaaa just seems like he got carried to red ranks by using Nurse.. His overall accuracy with the Nurse blinks shows that he has put a lot of time into her, but his level of awareness and soooo many questionable decisions shows that he has plenty of room for improvement.
Pretty much all of this was what I was thinking throughout the video. He kept saying things like "they're all immobilised, they can't do gens" when there were at least 1-3 survivors who could very easily have been working on generators, and then acting shocked when they managed to complete them. Which tells me that his game sense, not to mention his perception of his own skill, is a bit off. Saying "I'm dominating them, there's nothing they can do" over and over doesn't make it true. And the minute-long rant about DS and how he wasn't tunneling and it went off anyway, after he very blatantly tunneled Claudette off the hook, was just a bit baffling to me.
He played well, but he didn't play perfectly. He got a 2K because the survivors were about as good if not better than him, which is how it should be. Although, to be perfectly fair, it did look to me as though he used Thrilling Tremors a fair bit, especially towards the end.

But do they have every perk unlocked?

Thank you All. I’m still open for more feedback till mods close this thread.
For an update I have met some nice people like those who have contacted me after a match on Xbox and gave me tips on what I was doing wrong.
“Herth man” in specific used voice chat with me in which I believe his group talked to me through him. Coached me on some tips on playing Nurse cause I only used her to level her up and finish a mission on a broken glitched tomb.(The damage 2 Gen in 1 match. Had to look up that I had to hold down the action button till I saw sparks on the Gen to do “1” gen). His group still teased me in game but his talk made me realize his group or at least him had empathy.
On the other hand I realized it does not matter how I play the game after more matches and thinking about this thread and reading the replies.
I haven’t gotten any more trash talk replies to me but the 1 time I played Wraith today someone disconnected in match and they all taunted me and I really gave them a chance to play that round fair and square. I didn’t attack the injured survivor in the case of following 1 back to a hook, I didn’t body block even though it was a better position to be in than a chase, I ignored the hooks I got a bit, and I didn’t tunnel the same person more than the first hit I got on them. Still had the Tbagging and they went further this time they ran around my character in circles at the exit and I just stood there using secondary powers and not hitting them trying to push them to escape cause I admitted defeat because I threw the match for them. Wasn’t really fun on my end cause I was thinking of all the hidden rules in this game.
Even when I sucked at killers the survivors ran around me in circles as I stood there pushing them out the gate or stood facing the wall in the gate opening. I no longer have reactions to this since this is normal in this game. For people to ######### on other people is normal like IRL. Just have to not care and play the game like how I want to and conform to how the community is here.
Even as a survivor it is hard. Had a team and all 3 other survivors disconnected on me against The Pig. The killer (“GIVE x BIRTH”) “gg” me after. Pig said it is normal.
I am thoroughly enjoying the game, though I am sucking at it, now that I have come to terms with the community. Hopefully hard work will pay off.
I'm sure it will! And I think not getting tilted by people trying to bully you is the right attitude to take. Jerks will be jerks, in games and in real life, and it's best to just leave them be and move on. Toss them a "gg :)" after the game, if you like - nothing takes the wind out of a bully's sails quite like friendliness.
