  • The main reason is restrictions are removed, but bad players not. It's like open all the cells in the prison block in movies.

I would laugh if at least one person on the planet thought "Ok, we give killer-players much more control, they will stop camp and tunnel as a powerrole".

  • Can I play in your world, just for once? Because I either get a completely green 10 hours killer, or heavy tunneler/camper and lots of toxicity. I don't mind to die in the end, but I want at least to play a game, not fulfil some sweaty agenda of some insecure kid playing as killer.

And it's more campy/tunnely now, than it was before the patch. How so?

  • Hutress probably.

It's easier to say which killer I totally hate to go against.

  • At first it looks like not a big deal, but I got my first 0K with it since patch release. Funny thing is that on next pages it is promised to be more severe 😊

On the other hand, it's a challenge. Challenges and achievements have to be hard.

  • Absolutely true words "LESS ACCESSIBLE".

For hardcore pro survivors nothing changed much. But for majority of casual players it's a disaster, and I don't think it's a great thing.

I'm not talking about DH, people will learn to live without it. Problem is with huge killer speed buffs (attacks and stuns on one side and gens on the other).

  • Yes for the majority. DbD is one of the games that played by lots of casual players (I think I could go in this category too). New changes put on line casual killers vs good survivors. If you are a top-tier pro gamer, it doesn't changed much for you for SoloQ. You are still a threat to a killer and can compete without a problem (escpecially if there are 4 of you). But if you're average player (even in SWF), you were obliterated before, and now it's even worse. Really unappealing for many players.

  • You absolutely right. The only option is to make camping completely punishable (like for example proximity to hook increase gen repair speed twice, just as example), but at the same time rewards for harassing other survivors across the map.

In the end it will be even more difficult, as many killers would have to increase their skill. But I rather die 10 times to a skillful killer, than sit on a gen and escape or dangle on the first hook till the end.

    • Condemn point on hit
    • Double condemn gain speed
    • Remove lullaby or make it mapwide
    • Double TVs on map
    • Thrice less TV cooldown
    • Iri videotape into basekit
    • No speed penalty on manifestation

No, certain killers actually have to play counter to their kit to get the adept. Like Bubba, Ghostface, and Myers. Stealth killers especially, if the survivor don't see you and you down them, you never entered a chase so you don't get the points for that.

Like I said, watch Tofu's video I posted above, he shows just how damn hard it is to get Leatherface's Adept even as a freakin' Fog Whisperer that had every killer at 4K and around 500+ of every addon since he's been playing since launch. He's literally letting survivors wiggle out, sluging them so they can get back up so he can chase them again, NOT using the chainsaw, etc... and he still doesn't get the Adept.

Yes, it may be harder for Bubba than some others, but it's achievement. Tofu is not lucky, every other streamer got it. Even I got it.

    FYI:

    image.png

There are less people have Freddy adepts (which is basic M1 killer), and about the same amount have nurse adept (!!!). Nurse is just the easiest killer for adept, and base killer too, and still.

Even Evil Incarnate has the same amount of people! And THAT IS a tricky achievement.

I have struggled the most with Nemesis (for some reason) and Billy.

Back to the topic: I don't think adept achievements should be easier. It's achievement. Go big or go home.

I couldn't get Rank 1 Survivor achievement (i mentioned above) for about 6 months, and when I finally get it, it was the most horrible and devastating experience in my life. Killer get Rank 1 at the snap of a fingers in two weeks regular play. Not fair too.

  • I don't miss DH, because rarely used it myself, it did me more harm than good. And in the old times with old DH people died like flies.

I'm more concerned about overall speed buff for killers. Now I can do more mistakes in one match than I could allow in 3 matches. It's insane how easy it become...

Survivor experience gone from terrible to complete hell. It was frustrating before, but now... My god...

Only good survivors will be left, you say, right? As like 10% of player base? So DbD could have the same fate as Quake Champions for example.

Wonder if there's anyway to make only good killers stay. Not an option, heh?

The way I see this patch is an attempt to allow bad killers compete with good teams. Casual teams have zero chance now.

  • You mean spend 5 minutes in match searching, then 5 minutes till everyones ready and loading screen, then find out that you against yet another low skilled kid and what, dc, get penalty and lose all points? Or beg for hook? What?

Maybe better to create absolute miserable conditions for campers/tunnelers, so if they don't like it, they could NOT play the game either?

Gameplay changes would be an issue and a buff to survivors. And previous attempts have been exploited by survivors as well.

They need to adjust the SCORING around camping and tunneling. A killer should not earn 20K and double pips for tunneling every survivor one by one and standing Infront of their hook. Playing that way should net next to no score.

That way, if the killer did play well most of the match but camped their final kill,, they are also not punished for it. Because those tactics I think are fair end game strategies. But should be heavily penalized in the first 3 quarters of the match.

And how many points Bubbas get? Almost none. Does it stop them? No. Points are not the issue, low skill and childish anger are. Camping has to be unviable gameplay-wise, not reward-wise.

  • I wanted them to buff Sadako, but that was not what I meant.....

I played first time after a long break, super rusty, made bazilions of huge mistakes, survivors were great... Nah, didn't help them at all. Scared trying to play survivor....

  • Thanks, everyone!

  • AoT skins is F AWESOME! Super nice! Yui Mikasa is the best, Oni and Spirit too!

But I was laughing before how some "killers" are "threat" to survivors like Jill, Leon and Bill.

Now we have Survey Corps, and it's funny how Legion or Trickster would chase Mikasa or Levi. Don't know who is the killer now 😁

  • Legion. Sorry kids that could be beaten by Claudette. I don't know what sick joke was to made such a "killer".

  • After my exhausting grind and battle for Rank 1 with gallons of blood and sweat, the next time I will even dare to play survivor is when some new achievements arrive. It was pure pain and torture before, but after new update I don't know what reason will remain except log in, do something silly and die/dc in first few minutes. Dubious fun.

  • image.png

    Pure fun tier list

  • 4K would be no achievement, just random match. Yes, maybe survivor's adepts have to be more challenging (definetely not +2 pips, as it almost impossible even with full loadout), but I don't think killer's shoud be any easier.

I loved doing every single killer adepts, it was fun, it has a purpose and it taught me A LOT about proper killer gameplay.

Killer adepts require skill and gameplay, survivor's is pure luck (if you are not 5K hours pro streamer, of course). Some of my survivor's adepts took twice more attempts than most troublesome killer ones.

Anyway, if you struggle, there's always a cheap method: wait until 13th of the month.

    P.S.

Opposite example: getting Rank 1 killer is pretty much equals "play the game as you want", but for survivor it's sweaty fearsome tryhard enduring battle, wearing you physically and morally.

Yeah that’s the link that’s not working. It probably just doesn’t work on Safari on the iPad.

Oh, you should begin from that :) There are lot's of things that don't work on Safari and macOS/iOS. Talking as mobile developer: interacting with Apple is worse than camping Bubba.

  • @dugman said:

Anybody have a clip of Sadako’s lullaby? I can’t seem to find one anywhere. (Usually the wiki has them but the link to her lullaby on her page doesn’t seem to be working.)

Strange, works for me on wiki.

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Sadako_Yamamura

    It's static screeching sounds.

  • Although people could change, which is very unlikely, the main thing is that any ban could be not deserved.

My friend was banned from Dark Souls permanently after picking corrupted item from a cheater. I was very close to get a ban because I tweaked .exe file to support my ultrawide monitor. It's maybe an offence, but doubtly should spread on other games.

  • Explanation is simple: killer is the only role that playing. Survivor is either holding M1 on a gen, or dangling on a hook.

Of course, players of Ayrin-Probz-JRM level ARE playing, but 90% doesn't have such skill and don't want/have time to invest so much to play game. Killer, on the other hand, can play the game from baby-steps (usually that's where they are staying to the end, crying about gen-rush and second chance perks)

  • If I'm in SWF and know what killer I'm against, I'd constantly ping everyone's status. Disguise won't work. Otherwise killer is another Dredge-like piece of meat and claws.

What I was thinking is to make disguise as optional and meme ability, but main thing of Thing is to infect survivors (pretty much like plague). After infection take place, infected survivor don't know about that, but killer could see from infected survivor POV (like Pinhead with chains) and in the right moment activate rapid mutation to turn this survivor into walking intestines and attack+infect another surivor. The mutated survivor is reassembled by Entity in another part of map and loses hook state.

Plus basic way to turn into meat pile with tentacles and teeth and chase survivors old-fashioned way.

Also infected survivor don't know that he is infected, so while doing gens he regress it (but it's shown to him that progress is going), drop pallets (but again without host knowing).

Maybe it better be some deterioration timer, when survivor is fully assimilated, on killer command that surivivor is killed, and you take his place or either mimicking or suddenly transform and attack next survivor.

I'd also love to hear from you, I like playing as her alot as well, but I definitely get mixed results. What perks do you recommend and what add-ons! Genuinely curious

For perks there definetely must be something to help her in chase, as she can't do much. I always take Bamboozle to shut down most loops, but brutal strength/enduring/spirit fury can help too if you want just bulldoze through pallets. Also STBFL is great on her to catch up quicker.

If you slug a lot, Jolt is great, otherwise general regression perk is fine to give her time (her own Call of Brine works great as she can traverse to gen very quickly and Pop it)

Nurse + Sloppy cat give her lots of value, the only problem is with her lullaby.

MYC + Floods of Rage can start a decent snowball

But in general: loopshutting perks is a must. Then just perks to annoy survivors (because she suck at chasing, but can be everywhere)

For addons: great addon with painting, that infect healers with condemn (but require lots of slugging), also iridescent tape is great (still don't understand why it's addon and not basekit). Besides that, brown newspaper is very good.

Also if you want to master her, you need to capitalize on her invisibility burst after manifesting, helps a lot in short visible loops, so Watch/Mirror can be somewhat useful, but not so much. Most other addons ok-ish, but doesn't help reliably. Some gimicky addons can help too (like VCR with Dead Man's Switch perk)

  • The most hillarious in all this censorship is the idea that in the game where people graphicaly impaled, eaten alive, ripped by chainsaw in half, breaked bones, dismembered and all other neat stuff, there is concern that someone OMG could see a bad word.

    The hypocrisy is inconceivable.

If I wanted to harass someone, I still can do it with other words or masking some words (tested it with friends), but for normal conversations, where sometimes words "Jill" and "Leon" are censored, it's only a nuissance.

  • She require skill, but kids like more "mechanical-friendly" killers to chase 1 survivor. But I agree, she is great!

  • Don't listen to most "she is the worst" comments, people just comparing everything with nurse/blight, but at the same time DON'T fool yourself, she is NOT strong in a slightest.

I play her and practically only her since her release. Therefore I try to list things, so maybe you sum it up and make your decision.

    • She is REALLY fun and enjoyable to play. I don't know why still, but she is somehow "comfort" to play
    • She has good perks coming with her
    • She has MANY weaknesses and all that lies on your skill and perks. She is really perk dependant and player skill dependant (you have to perfectly know maps, survivor's mindset)
    • She is very weak in chase. You can use her manifest/demanifest power to win chases, but you have to know invisibility timings by your marrow and mindgame king.
    • She is macroplay killer, which scares away most people that don't bother play strategically and just mindlessly chase one survivor
    • She is a hit/run and slug heavy killer, if you want to compete with decent teams, not down/hook killer. There are some tricky builds for her condemn power, but you really have to change your playstyle for that. I go for just hit/run/occasional slug.
    • She is REALLY perk dependant. I said that and I repeat it again.
    • She needs a BUFF. FFS, BHVR! Every single post and comment about Sadako is basically "PLZ BUFF HER ASAP!" You want a petition or hastag #MakeSadakoGreatAgain? We all love that wet girl, BUFF her already! 😍

There's always one person that tries this idea. This was done once before. It was abused by survivors and is not coming back.

Still no one tell me how it is abused, maybe I, or someone else, would tweak it with another idea. Just an simple example.

If I chase another survivor, I'll be definetely outside 12m (except shack, maybe, but shack chase algorithm is already known by everyone except new players), or if I can't catch survivor around the hook for a long time, I think I should raise my skill more and I'm definetely not belong on this MMR.

Also with paused timer is basically a slugged survivor. I would behave the same as when I slug someone, or is slugging not viable?

    Please, give me example.

As another option, don't show killer hook progress, continue timer if survivor is neaby, or even make it 1.5 faster. And I don't think why insidious shouldn't has cooldown if it is not used for facecamping.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3052861#Comment_3052861

People would just loop the killer near the hook. Giving way to much time to get gens done and get the save. Since the timer was paused.

Yeah, but it's one survivor on the hook, on in chase, so only two left. So you can down the on running around the hook, hook him while third one have to unhook the first, heal, therefore spend a lot of time.

I seriously don't understand how it affects normal gameplay. In my whole experience I don't remember many times when survivors go to next hook stage just by hanging (not counting suicides).

  • @Maelstrom808 said:

Personally I think they should start by changing how BP are awarded for hooks/sacrifices. Currently i think you get a base total of 700pt for each hook and then a 1000pt bonus for a kill. I'd create a scale so that the hook values start small and increase with each hook on a given survivor, and in addition, the kill bonus is larger depending on the number of times you hooked that particular survivor. Emblems should function in a similar way to get iri devout and making it so the more times you hook a survivor, the better your odds are to pip or double pip.

I currently play mostly so that I get each survivor on death hook before I look to sacrifice one (it's a more interesting way to play for me, camping and tunneling are just freaking boring). This provides me the incentive to get away from the hook to let them save so I can cycle through my hooks as quickly as possible.

I don't think this alone is enough to really start a shift away from camping, but in conjunction with steering perk design towards Devour, MYC, and new Monstrous Shrine where being away from the hook is more beneficial, it can push things in the right direction. This is a better choice than changes to fundamental gameplay imo. Camping should still be an option (because that hook-saboing, butt-dancing, body-blocking, clicky boi Steve just has it coming sometimes), but it and tunneling should be the least rewarding style of play.

In summary: more effort should mean more rewards and vice-versa.

Campers don't care about BPs, skill or gameplay, let's be real. Take the most canonic example: camping bubba. There is no fun, no skill, no BPs in any scenario. Good teams will leave at least with one casualty, casual teams will die. No gameplay involved in any scenario. Only sad, angry kids are come to that. So, what do you want to heal with BPs?

Camping doesn't work against strong teams, so it's just scrapping from bottom, acknowledging incompetence.

The only way to somehow rid of it is to make it unviable for all teams, not only experienced ones.

  • RPD is great

It's almost like this was suggested and tried before. It's almost like it was abused by survivors

Oh right. It was tried and abused before.

Maybe it was before me, but how it was abused? I just wanted to know, maybe there's a way to fix it, because I don't know how it could be abused if killer is switching to unhooker/another survivor.

  • Slow sacrifice timer. The closer to hook, the more slow it goes, and completely stops within 12 meters. Also Insidious should work only 10 seconds (no more needed to use it midchase), then 10 seconds cooldown.

  • I'm not only thinking it's ok, I know it's ok and I can give you even two reasons:

    • Disorient surivor in chase
    • Swerve survivor's pathing so he won't be able to do fast vault or delayed before pallet

I don't understand. Like how can I be on super low MMR? MMR doesn't reset and I am always Rank 1 and I do escape quite often, but it is still unbearable with those mates.

That's very bizzare, then. I die a lot, and recently made a super tryhard attempt to get my first Rank 1, and my teammates in general was Ok-ish in general. Very few bad, very few great.

If you interested, I made a detailed post about it, with numbers:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/333343/soloq-statistics-and-soloq-experience-long-boring-post

  • You might get these teammates because you're on a super low MMR. But I'm probably on low MMR too, but with all authority I can say I get these freshmen very rarely. Also as super skilled teammates. All are pretty normal (don't make it easier for SoloQ, though)

    • Add perk/addon titles in addition to images or ability to set perk/addon view in settings (old view/list/tile)
    • Search perks/addons by name
    • Endgame statistic screen - show character names and ping on main screen (so no need to go to settings and see it there to understand who was who and "John Doe" was actually "Feng Min")
    • Ability to separate buttons for: pickup/break/special action, vault/throw pallet/enter locker
    • Ability to bind multiple buttons on the same action in UI (now you need to edit config file in notepad), up to 3
    • Increase range of sensitivity (e.g. I use same sensitivity in all FPS games, but my sensitivity is lower than 0 in settings, so I had to edit config again and play with scaling)
  • Tip 1: find a team if you are not masochist

In a really really theorical scenario yes, the Hag could do this. Nice to hear that Trickster is a killer, I always thought he was the Felix's cheerleader.

I don't know in what theoretical scenario Hag could do, but in my world that's the only thing she does.

Don't know about trickster, but adept had to be got. Maybe he's Felix's boyfriend, but I definetely know that Legion is Felix's brats and he have to give them a slap and send back to school.

  • I can hardly imagine a killer that not benefit from 3gen. Maybe basic M1, but still deadly. 3 gen is bread and butter.

I personally took out Adepts on trickster, billy (mentioned) and deathslinger on rank 1 with 3 gens.

And not mentioning Hag (which is queen of denying whole portion of the map), Huntress and Spirit is a felony. They eat you in a 3 gen like an apple.

This post was made in relation to the upcoming update, which I am eagerly awaiting.

Like your notion about "4 1vs1", that's the most accurate description and the major problem of survivors: each of survivor team's "body part" are acting independently.

But I think everyone is playing with intention of escaping. Main problem is that there are ways that prohibits survivors from just playing (for example, camping), and it's controlled totally by the killer. That's the most frustrating thing I experienced firsthand, not dying.

  • I only can say that I have killer games chill and lax. Meet different teams, hard, new, bully, but can't say some games are frustrating (maybe only when I meet new survivors that are too easy to slaughter, usually let go one or two).

Survivor is more.... frustrating. If you play like "I'll go annoy killer with fun build" expecting to die in first 5 minutes, it's chill ok. But when you try to win for some reason (achievement, challenge, etc), you understand how little mistakes survivor can made and how reliable he is on teammates.

I tried to get my final Rank 1 achievement before survivors are buried, and I finally did it AFTER 6 MONTHS 😖

And I gathered all statistics about last 150 matches, wanted to do post about it later. If interested, little spoiler: in fact campers and tunnelers are not more than 1/3.

I can tell you fresh experience: I never felt so much stress and frustration in any game by a landslide.

    1. Identify 360'ers
    2. Get close and fast hit (no lunges)
    3. Don't turn, step back so he won't disappear completely from sight.

Problem is that killers have huge blindspot right in front of them for some reason.

  • Used Mori only to get achievement for 20 mori's.

Please pick any non-nurse killer and give us the timestamps of when you think a normal M1 killer should find the first survivor, hit them, hit them again, pick them up, and put them on a hook. Or if you're gonna throw out some "U jUsT NeEd 2 PresSurE!" give us the timestamps for when you abandon chase and go chase off gens I'd love to see a winning perk combo + instructions for how to play as trapper and not lose 3 gens on the first chase or play ping pong between 2 gens that are at 80%ish in a losing battle.

Is Sadako enough not-nurse killer? I play mosly her from release. If you want instructions, go to youtuble, see some Otzdarva, Dowsy, RedGamingGears (last one always explain everything he do very plainly), etc. But if lack of skill and ego obstructs that, continue throw out some "I HaVe 2 Cump BiCaSe GiN RaSh SeCoNd ChAnCe PuRks NoT FaIr!!!"
