I mean, I dont use DH to begin with. But hey, you do you.

You might enlighten me how iframes which dont do anything due to the short missed attack cooldown can do anything. Or, you assume that I run DH and want my "OP-Perk" not being nerfed.

Sure I have a DH post about iframes, go look you might learn stuff.

I just cba to try have a conversation with someone who tries to take the p out of actual factual evidence.

If you dont believe it fine, its true but you're entitled to your thoughts but as soon as you use it to take the p and clearly exaggerate it theres no point in a discussion.

I do find it funny how Escaping 3games and dying ONCE and sometimes Escaping 2 and dying once is so unrealistic but you literally have multiple survivor streams Escaping 4-20games in a row which is far above my 3.

Edit: that was also eu off peak time so definitely easier than peak tim, was all in the post.

23k, 21k, 19k and I get 13K????? #########!? I did 4 gens solo from start to finish that means no other survivor did the gens and I get punished for this bullcrap? Does this make any sense to y'all?

    Change the system ASAP!

This happens alot, basically the smarter you play the less BP you get.

Solo gen is more efficient, but you only get about 1250BP. Doing it duo gives you co-OP points and will easily give you over 2k BP in it, use prove thyself and you can get 4k or something stupid.

Same as people who waste pallets when they get hit, they do the bad play of wasting a pallet but get 1k BP for the stun.

I spoke about changing this but was shut down by the forums because we shouldn't punish bad plays

I mean, not everyone is a godlike player like you with 110% escape rate, but the difference between going down or surviving with just I-frames is more luck than anything.

Are you really, really, really close to a Pallet or Window? You might survive.

Are you only close to a Pallet or Window? Yep, you go down.

Sorry we arent all bad players that cant use my brain to use perks for other reasons than the busted and easy use....

But sure whatever you say, I dont fancy wasting my time explaining everything to you. If you dont see the issues the distance creates and the all the uses iframes have you're part of the problem.

You just want easy second chance perks, noted.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2918394#Comment_2918394

This would just kill the Perk. Maybe a Nurse or a Blight after a few Rushes would have a penalty due to a DH which only gives i-frames, but for every other Killer, the Cooldown for missing an attack would just be too short to actually get anything out of DH.

    For bad players maybe yeah...

  • @_AdamFrancis_ said:

I personally don't need it. But with how much killers tunnel nowadays, I run it a lot. Now here's the issue, the skill check inside of the perk lags 1/2 of the time when I use it, resulting in it being wasted. Because of this, I think DS shouldn't have a skill check. Not to mention it hurts bad players, aka the ones who need it the most.

If we make it have no skill check maybe we can reduce the requirements on killer perks too...

I personally dont think it's a hard thing to hit but honestly this game has alot of limitations for no reasons

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

My views on the current Dead Hard are the same as the general player base at this point, it needs changes, it's current state isn't balanced due to how much it can extend loops in the hands of a good survivor

However, i don't think it's current state can be balanced, we can tweak the numbers or remove the i-frames or whatever else, but nothing can change the simple fact that the distance you can get from Dead Hard is simply too good

So instead of nerfing the perk, it should be reworked into this

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dead Hard

    Activatable Perk

You'll go through hell to get your few friends out of a bad situation, When Injured, you can dash forward quickly to knock the survivor out of the killer's grasp

Press the Active Ability button while running within 5 metres of the killer to activate it

If you hit the killer during the dash, you will stun them for 5 seconds, causing any survivors the killer is carrying to fall out of their grasp

If you miss the killer, you will suffer from a 5% Hindered effect for 60/50/40 seconds

Causes the Exhausted status effect for 60/50/40 seconds, you do not recover from the Exhausted status effect while running

Edit: This perk can only be used once per Trial, suggested by @Marc_123

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rather then making the perk a obnoxious chase extender, i instead think it should be one of only a handful of perks that let the survivors go on the offensive against the killer, with a suitable amount of risk (being slower and therefore easier to hit, as well as no i-frames) for a good reward (keeping your teammates alive longer)

It'll probably not happen, but i think that this is the best solution for Dead Hard, at any rate, it'll be less infuriating then it's current state

    What do you guys think?

So you want to make DH an instant save perk? Are people drunk?

Remove the distance and boom. Fix, it's not that hard...

  • @D3spair said:

Let's be honest here, if BHVR is balancing for the Majority of Players which is casual. They would be aware how punishing it is for a Killer to miss your Special Attack ie. Shred, Hatchets, Bear Traps. I'm just so sick of DH dodging my Bear Traps and Lethal Rushes and Blinks. For example, you as a Blight Bounced 5 times in a jungle gym but a Survivor presses E dodges your Last Lethal Rush and makes it to a Window. it's frustrating af.

Yes. DH iframes are completely fine.

The big issue is the distance it currently gives, this corrects mistakes and makes all basic attack killers even weaker compared to the others.

    Iframes stay. Distance goes.

OP has a very valid point. It’s not up to us as players to ensure perks have reasonable synergy with each other. The devs should definitely address this.

I'd rather combos like oppression into overcharge to be work on first.

But in general alot of perks could be made to combo

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

My queues are longer and more sweaty.

I don't know how BHVR did MMR worse lol

Well they didn't change the actual system in terms of what makes players skillful.

In time the SBMM will adjust to what is was before the change. If they really wanted to change how it works they need new criteria instead of just escapes/kills.

I'm still in belief a grade system is better if you remove resets, safety pips and then give killers separate grades

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    Question on title.

So i am seeing some people don't like this and they want this remove from DS. What do you think? Locker play should stay or go?

Well... For me it is fair. Survivor is not doing any objective in locker, so there is not reason to make DS deactivate. And killer has to eat DS early or leave. It punishes killer for tunnel. And plus you can bait killer without having DS (high risk).

No. DS is perfectly fine and this is actually a counter to Pyramid head trails which I like.

I feel anyone that hates on this is relying on the tunneling aspect too much and I feel we should be encouraging not to do that more but removing this would make it better.

DS is in a great spot, it's a perk I always use no matter what. Obviously I'd like DS base but the game is no where near balanced enough for that which is a shame but I dont want killers to have a harder time until it's better balanced

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2917902#Comment_2917902

Well, adding to her RNG, Pig is also weak because she has no mobility. I'd say Sadako is stronger because of her ability to teleport around the map. I'd gladly take the teleport over reverse bear traps.

Oh yeah definitely, I think pig is one of the worst especially due to the rng.

I was just using her as an example that slowdown isnt what makes a good killer, even if sadako got abit more slowdown it wont help her in chases etc. Hence why I said I'd rather those addons base with no lullaby

  • @kate_best_girl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2917890#Comment_2917890

Yeah but she needs game slowdown which condemnation is supposed to be. Even if all the TVs stayed on she still wouldn't be able to capitalize off the teleportation since she doesn't have anything to help chase or distract survivors.

I'd take her mobility over a slightly better condemned, mobility is so huge especially if you can macro your gameplay.

Alot of tough games I have only won due to my ability to teleport causing huge pressure especially on bigger maps.

Like I said I'd only want a better condemned if the tvs stay on. Shed be worse as a basic M1 with no map control

Edit: slowdown isnt everything, her tapes equal the worst experience for pig, think how weak pig is due to her rng and sadako shows you which tv to take it too

  • @kate_best_girl said:

I'd say mine personally would be to add disadvantages to condemnation. A different effect for each stack. like maybe stack 1 inflicts hemorrhage, 2 inflicts mangled, 3 inflicts blindness, 4 slows survivors by 2%, 5 reduces generator repair speed by 10%, 6 inflicts exposed, 7 is normal murder one

Old newspaper and bloody fingernails addons as base. No lullaby.

Maybe make it to picking up a tape drops your item, I know alot of people want a better condemned but I feel that's the worst way to go about it. You want your tvs active for that mobility, the last thing you want is all your tvs turned off as a basic attack killer. (Although they can make it so only when she teleports it turns the tv off, so if you take a tape she doesnt get even weaker)

  • Appreciate it! If I remember I'll come back and share my experience as I'll be EU off peak. My expect outcome is easier killer or just as horrible as normal and survivor can only get worse teammates so will be interesting

  • @Pulsar said:

This is just my own personal experience. I started playing Killer and Survivor again during the recent MMR tests because I can't rightly criticize the system if I'm not willing to try to fix it. I continued to play once it was confirmed that changes were implemented, this is my experience.

    As Killer:

My matches before the MMR changes were very hit or miss. Sometimes, they were incredibly sweaty and extremely unfun. Other times, the Survivors were clearly below my skill level. Post-MMR changes, it feels like the first few weeks of MMR. It is consistently awful and sweaty. This is the least fun I've ever had with a video game. Likewise, my queue times as Killer have gone up for some reason. They used to be instant to 20 seconds, now they're anywhere from instant to 2 minutes.

    As Survivor:

Extremely long queues. Upwards of 10 minutes prior to MMR changes. Matches were completely random. Sometimes we faced a certain well-known Nurse player, other times we faced a Killer with one perk. Post-MMR changes, we have not won a SINGLE match. Every game is filled with horrible teammates and good Killers. The only game I escaped was a facecamping Bubba who just barely didn't get me with NOED. Queue times are still past 10 minutes, our longest queue was 14 and our shortest was 8.

All in all, my Killer games are unplayable so I'm not going to be continuing with that, I'm giving my feedback and quitting, as it were. As for Survivor, my SWF is getting fed up with constantly getting stomped, horrific teammates, camping Bubba's, hard tunneling Killers and two of them are pretty much at wits end with the game.

My suggestions? If you aren't up to admitting MMR was a mistake, dedicate your resources to fixing the game at a fundamental level. That includes camping, tunneling, gen rushing ect. These are all extremely unfun parts of the game that have NEVER been addressed and will need to be if MMR stays.

I'd love if you could edit in your region server and the time you played. I havent played since the changes yet so I cant comment (probably try it in a few days). My games as killer definitely couldn't get worse though

  • Or people can learn to play without a perk to correct mistakes.

DH is the reason alot of killers are made weak (basic attack killers). Saying we cant change a perk (just the distance) because people rely on it too much is stupid an entitlement.

  • @OneGoodBoyDemo said:

This is something i've always been thinking about since 99% of high rank survivors use dead hard.

If dead hard is nerfed, would people replace it with another exhaustion perk or would they use another type of perk?

I still think sprint burst is the best exhaustion perk, a person who knows how to 99 sprint burst perfectly is much more dangerous than dead hard.

I also think Overcome doesn't lose much to Sprint burst and dead hard if it's used correctly. Overcome is a perk that gets stronger each time a generator is completed, which means you can take the killer to an area where he shouldn't be since there's nothing there for him to do. Overcome can make you cross the entire map at times and I also believe it can be more effective on 110% speed killers.

    DH.

Unlike alot of people I understand how to use the iframes to a good use and will still get good value from the perk. Just because the easy distance gets removed dont mean the perks bad, just not an easy second chance.

If I had to pick another BL, it gives me full freedom to run and vault whenever I want and gives me the ability to stay in more unsafe areas such as hills or gens near a drop freely.

  • Remove the distance.

That's all it needs, if you think the iframes is pointless then you clearly dont have much skill in using DH and are using the easy and most broken part of it.

Iframes can be used against all antiloop abilities, trapper, artist, PH, Pyramidhead, huntress, slinger, trickster etc. And can also be used to turn back and go through fast killer abilities like oni, billy and blight as well as just avoiding basic hits.

I have a full post on DH, iv explained alot there.

Ok, thank you!! And just to clarify, setting up an Xbox Series X I can use the same email as I used for my Xbox One?

Yes, all you do is sign in as your xbox one profile. So youd type in your normal email and password you use and it will load up your profile just like normal.

And then when you install and load up DBD all your stuff will still be there :)

Side note for forums: if you click quote you'll tag their reply like this and give them a notification :)

  • All progress is saved to your account, as long as you are using the same one you shall have all your stuff the same.

I'm not sure if certain disc copies have dlcs that the digital doesn't but if that is the case all you need to do is buy the DLC and all your progress will be there

    • Remove DH distance
    • Shrink the bigger maps
    • Reduce the rng of tile spawns (never get 4 LT walls or gyms)
    • Reduce giddeon pallets
    • Make survivor SBMM based on skill not escapes

Here's a small list of the major issues within the game atm. While alot of perks could do with buffs these issues are the biggest flaws atm

No idea if/when it was changed, I'm just saying what I observed teaching a completely new killer the game.

I'm not sure, usually killer is easy at the start especially if you have some awareness or education on the game and how its played and as you go up it swaps over.

I dont know anyone knew to killer, no one wants to play it and I stopped recommending DBD

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916698#Comment_2916698

That used to be the case, but there is definitely a 'new player' bracket.

Got my wife to try the game recently, and her first...maybe 5 games were absolutely with other newbies.

The problem was that she had me telling her what to do as a killer, meaning she won - and suddenly she was facing meta squads.

I haven't seen any official statement that they changed it, but that's why I mentioned playing at a different time because that definitely has a huge impact due to the increased player pool.

Let's be honest theres so many issues with the SBMM, my brother has yet to "win" a killer game and hes played about 100 odd lol. Hes definitely not near a top killer and he dont use meta but hes not bad either so I find that weird.

I hate the system, all of it. Only thing iv probably enjoyed due to SBMM is seeing the same people so often its turned into a meme and we just send messages like "ew its you" "go find your own lobby jeez" "hello there obi screenshot" etc. Lol

  • @CptCaptain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916698#Comment_2916698

Thing is, I've lost well over 30 games in a row. I've barely won any games at all as survivor in the 50 hours or so I've played as survivor and the few times I do "win" are often due to the killer letting me go. Surely at this point my MMR should be as low as possible? It shouldn't take over 50 hours of playtime for me to "find my place", right?

10 minutes ago I played against a killer who was devotion 25 back in 2020 (I got this info from his Steam screenshots). My team had a mix of players with tier 1/2 perks. Needless to say, we got one single gen done before all were dead. This is just absurd.

Well it depends, I have no idea how far in they place new players and if you're being mismatched you wont loose much mmr because the game knew youd lose.

The system is heavily flawed, and I'm afraid I cant offer any suggestions. Maybe try playing at a different time? The time you play can have a huge impact on people you verse etc. Its why alot of high mmr killers will play at peak time.

Also alot of people derank, but the system itself is massively flawed and all I can really suggest is a custom game or swf with other people and practice/hope for the best.

Believe it or not the mmr system was mainly done for newer players, great sign ay lol

  • @CptCaptain said:

Firstly, I have about 80 hours in this game, roughly 60 hours or so I've spent playing killer, then I started getting unfun matches against people far above my skill level so switched over to survivor.

Yesterday, I played 19 games, of those 19 games I escaped 4 times with two of those being pity hatch escapes (as I understand, hatch escapes do not affect MMR) - so, that's 15 losses and 2 wins. Today I've played 14 matches, I've escaped twice and lost 12 times.

Virtually every survivor game I've played has been against killers with over 2,000 hours, some as much as 10,000 hours.

It's incredibly frustrating, unfun and completely demoralising to have back to back games where you stand little to no chance of winning and often barely get to actually play as it seems everyone with a ridiculous amount of hours just hooks someone then stands there until you die.

At what point is the MMR system in this game going to go "you know what, maybe this guy with his 80 hours isn't quite at the same skill level as someone with 2,000 hours??" How much must I lose before I start to see remotely balanced games?

New players arent placed at the bottom of SBMM, unfortunately you will have to endure losing a bunch to find your place

You could end up in high mmr in time, and jeez is that a fun filled adventure!

All in all the SBMM sucks, sorry

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Aside from Circle of Healing and MoM (which got nuked pretty fast), the last Meta-Perk released for Survivors was Dead Hard. Most Survivor-Perks released are either weak or very, very niche.

The only reason why this does not seem as extreme on the Killers side is because every Killer plays different and some Perks can be situational, but good on specific Killers. E.g. Iron Maiden can be good on Huntress and Trickster, but thats about it.

Both sides usually bring strong stuff, but for Killers, there is a bit more variety, because Killers play different. (Of course you can run the same 4 Slowdown-Perks on every Killer, this is also possible)

Issue isnt that there arent no good survivor perks the issue is DH,UB etc. Are so good people always run it, it's why I cant wait for that DH change.

Survivors do have quite a few good and fun perks, but at the end of the day most players will go to the strongest ones just because... and you cant make every perk to the DH or COH level

  • @Kurri said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2914689#Comment_2914689

You're right they did just fix this in the recent MMR changes. Well at least made it better. A lot of players even in the higher ranges of MMR were not having fun, so they widened the scale to add more assorted games into the matchmaking. Now instead of just getting Balanced - Difficult games, you get a range from Easy - Hard games. Since the recent changes I have already noticed a significant drop in the amount of players dcing, suiciding, and going afk in my matches - so the changes they've made must be working.

It might be better for abit, but in the long run it will return back to normal especially at the top/lower end.

The issue is they have just adjusted the cap so people will just get pushed lower and the top will be all the same players again.

The real fix would be a change in the actual system, for example changing survivor so escapes isnt the only criteria

  • You're missing about 80% of the perks from your list

  • I can avoid playing for a month.

I can see the doctor for stress levels and see it improve before beginning the cycle again

  • Is there a reason it has multiple requirements*

Honestly theres no reason, just feel they was scared to make it good

  • @Maxitolliony said:

it shows my time and commitment yes rank 1 is just a stepping stool to climb higher and higher.

I'm not sure about that, I hit iri 1 survivor in the first 6days and mmr has a soft cap.

The games definitely horrible at top mmr for killer no doubt, but saying you're the best while not understanding aspects of the system will hurt your credibility

One of the best? That's a bold statement...

Iv played since release and have a stupid high win rate but I wouldn't even call myself the best.

DH, certain maps and tile setups are the biggest issues in this game atm.

Edit: I'm surprised one of the best players dont know grades arent used for matchmaking and haven't been for awhile now

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

    Let's compare what they have:

    • Huntress has 5 hatchets, and the effects of the power can be buffed directly with various add-ons, Slinger has only 1 shot that injures and deep wounds and has to reload after every shot, and his add-ons don't modify his power wind up.
    • Deathslinger has a max range of 18 meters, Huntress has an infinite range and the shots can cross hills and various obstacles.
    • Deathslinger can be bodyblocked quite hard, and basically nullify the the effect of iridescent coin, Huntress is very hard to bodyblock in all cases.
    • Deathslinger is very weak at camping, Huntress is a monster at camping, especially the basement or hills or open areas, and slugging in open areas.
    • If you miss a shot with Huntress you don't lose much distance, if you miss with Deathslinger it's a massive shift W for the survivors.
    • If you hit a long range hit with deathslinger most likely you won't get the hit because the chain will break, if you hit a long range distance with Huntress it's a guaranteed down.
    • Max charged Huntress' hatchets go at the same speed of Deathslinger shots, and have a bigger hitbox.
    • Huntress' hatchets have a harder hitbox to dodge, Deathslinger shots are much easier to dodge.

huntress can hit over pallets, deathslinger can't when they're injured.

    • Deathslinger is forced to break very tall and long safe loops when dropped, huntress can try to play around them.
    • Huntress has stronger add-ons in general and one that can instadown consistently if you know what you are doing, one that causes exhaustion to counter Dead hard, Deathslinger doesn't have any of that.
    • If you miss a deathslinger shot due to Dead hard it can be a massive shift W, if you miss a shot due with Huntress on average you just wasted a hatchet.
    • With Deathslinger you have a bigger terror radius but no lullaby, Huntress has a 45 meters lullaby.
    • If you have good reaction time you can dodge a Deathslinger shot with DH, same with Huntress but she has 5 hatchets.
    • Staying injured against Deathslinger is much more profitable, staying injured against Huntress can be deadly.
    • Huntress can try to outplay god pallets throwing over them, Deathslinger cannot.
    • Huntress moves just a bit slower than Deathslinger when charging a hatchet, but can move faster right before throwing a hatchet, Deathslinger slows down.
    • Very good Huntresses can throw shots to stop gens with Dead Man's Switch or injure across the map, Deathslinger can not.

The things at which Deathslinger is better are very few, for example he can reel chains through walls, and play a bit hit and run, (which doesn't matter if they have circle of healing or strong medkits), but then what?

    Yes, pain.

Some like sting, degradation, the humiliation or so I'm told

  • I know it was a mistake but...

Again, you are taking those conclusions OUT OF ORDER.

The game is unbalanced, so as a RESULT they derank.

Trust me, I know the games unbalanced I have been here since the start and play both roles (killer much less since mmr) and I make posts on these issues.

It's not even the fact people derank so much, I get it the games unfun high up only reason I dont derank is because it would takes me ages to lower my mmr on everyone now and the fact it's not fair on everyone else.

However when I complain about imbalances those people who do derank will just say their games are fine... well obviously you derank..

It's about the manipulation and lies people create, the system is already flawed and the game has imbalances but people deranking and lying just makes the situation worse...

In my opinion, Pinhead is the absolute worst killer to face in the game currently. If I hear the chain hunt noise at the beginning of the match, I now just immediately DC, I literally couldn't care less, I'd rather move on to another game and not have to endure that torture. Everything about his power is extremely boring and irritating to face, the chain hunts are horribly designed and can completely screw over any team that isn't on comms, and the chains are just annoying. His chase music is annoying and repetitive and the box is just frustrating to handle.

I know there are people who like him for some reason, so I don't think anyone will agree with me, but I just can't stand him. All of you killer mains and swf players, you can't criticize me if you haven't experienced him from solo queue.

Hes pretty miserable to play as well unless you're versing people way below your skill level.

His power has a high skill ceiling and honestly not worth the hassle in comparison to other killers and if you dont get a box or run the wire it's a gg

What a joy where a chapter sucks for everyone involved, yay

  • @Kurri said:

Or you know they know how good at the game they are, made it to those high sweaty ratings, learned they didn't want games like that and then chose to de-rank where they play casually and friendly so everyone has fun.

Honestly I would say these are the good guys keeping the community afloat, and I would sooner take their opinion over anyone else.

The majority of us dont wanna be at cap or verse the stupidly sweaty games that exist, does that mean everyone should just lower their mmr? No if that's such an issue BHVR should fix it, but so many people will be deranking and the claim we cant make changes because of lower mmr which they currently derank into anyway giving them an unfair advantage...

Yeah, I avoid guessing at my MMR for that reason. I'm fairly certain my Artist is higher MMR than my M1 killers because I see (a) a lot more meta perks and possible SWFs and (b) except for one day on grades based mmr which had 2 4 person SWF teams taking me to the Game my Artist games felt normal nearly the entire time while, on some MMR test days, trying out M1 killers I normally don't play was excruciatingly painful.

However, where is that MMR on Artist? Medium? High? Low? It's probably not low because the survivors I face have meta teachables unlocked but it could easily be mid.

People can't say they're high MMR because, unless you're Otz or tournament players like Oracle, who knows?

Well I think its pretty simple to calculate roughly where you are, if you consistently win over 65%+ of your games youd be high mmr.

Although there are some very weird things concerning servers and time played, and it's a huge reason I avoid streamers as they dont get the same experience

Don't take this the wrong way but... how are you only just now noticing this?

The forums have always been this way. Someone who says they only ever play survivor plays 5 games of killer and says it's sooooo easy, why do killers always complain? Someone who only plays as a 4-stack says all the people complaining about survivor are just plain wrong... even though they never play solo. (I remember some people rudely saying that the 3-man lobby glitch didn't exist... while also stating they never played outside a 4-man SWF. ####ing hell, people.)

Everyone's biased. Nothing on these forums can be taken at face value. People's opinions are just that: opinions.

It just ruins the whole system and twists feedback.

You make this sound like this is the fault of the players. It's not. Players have been asking for a casual mode since time immemorial. There's only one mode, meaning all different playstyles have to play together. That's the only option BHVR has given them. So people who want to play competitively are put with people who want to play casually are put with people who want to meme around and practically play a different game altogether. People who play to win are put with people who play for BP are put with people who are doing a Daily/Tome challenge. People who are trying out something new are put with people who are playing at their best.

Sucks for all of us. And it's why people are so often saying, "BHVR doesn't listen to us!" Well, BHVR does listen, they just don't necessarily act on it because player feedback is inherently flawed.

You cant add a casual mode, this splits the community even more. The community is already split to killer/survivor so adding a casual mode will split that into 4 groups. Also anyone can easily jump into a casual mode even the best player and alot of people would.

Iv known this for awhile it's just really bugging me as I'm seeing it pop up alot about real game issues but they dismiss it and act like they arent deranking when they admit it in other comments...

I don't think it's really black or white. Someone who is biased is going to be biased regardless of whether they're smurfing or not and someone who is going to try to see all sides will do the same regardless.

As an example, Tru doesn't camp or tunnel as it can really suck for those on the receiving end. I do the same. However, camping and tunneling are definitely very effective strategies. Not doing so will cause you to lose some games you could have won otherwise. Is that smurfing?

Also, after hitting Iri One quite a few people change out load outs and instead of IW, DH, DS and BT they might run WGLF, MoM, Empathy and Self Care. They're still trying to escape but sub optimal perk choices will lower your success rate. But they do it to have fun. Is that smurfing?

What about giving mercy to a survivor who requests it? After multiple games of being camped and tunneled you might be stressed out and just want an easy escape or Rift challenge. Is the killer smurfing by recognizing that?

On the bottom line, we play this game to have fun and, unless it involves intentionally ruining the fun for other people maliciously, we can't be fun police and say one type of fun is wrong and another is good. As for the data, that's not our job. As a professional gaming company it's BHVR's job to analyze the data, interpret it, and apply it; not the consumers. We're not being paid for that and the only thing we should really do, in my opinion, is keep in mind it's complicated to balance a game, moreso if it's assymetrical, and that BHVR is trying while we offer our feedback.

Playing for hooks isnt deranking. I'll put it in the example you used with true. Let's say true goes for hooks, that's great! Props for him that's the best and hardest playstyle but just because he is doing that doesnt mean he is deranking... however if true suddenly stopped killing people then he is. People are actively making sure they dont get a kill.

It's not about going for hooks, it's about avoid kills at all costs. You dont see true go "oh yes been hooked twice, I wont hook him again or I'll get a kill"

Nah. I do both, my opinion on balance is more well rounded than someone who only does one or the other. You think I am going to go high mmr on an m1? Hell no. I already did with Freddy and it gave me depression. I also play my Bubby Boi at high mmr, so I know the struggle. I know what good survivors are capable of. And I see what you are saying too, there are people who play against potato and act like the game is fair because of it. Conversely, because I play at high mmr too, I know a lot of complaints are exaggerated. Survivors, even at high mmr, will throw the game in the name of altruism. That's facts.

Reality is they cannot balance the game for everyone. The game is absolutely killer sided at lower levels, relatively balanced at mid tiers, and unequivocally survivor sided at high levels. Like it or not, this spread IS balance. They know it which is why they maintain it. That is why most survivor nerfs are specifically to bully squads and killer buffs are mostly placebo. They just want the experience to feel better in hopes that people complain less. I think that they did a pretty good job. They let us keep Nurse, they let us keep facecamping Bubba. If you want to play your killer that is not viable at high mmr, you need to play them at a lower mmr. End of story. Pick a viable killer if you want to compete.

I'm not saying people have to be forced to max, but as soon as you avoid getting a single kill that's misleading and unfair for other people.

I know the games hell at high mmr killer but they wont ever make changes if people derank and mislead everyone. Especially streamers...

These are the people who would say DH is fine and claim they play at the cap but in a different post admit to deranking... it's all misleading and I dont like that, people should just play how they're meant to and give accurate feedback, I hate the whole exaggerating thing... even in YT titles and people cant see past it...

My instinctive response is that these people still have a voice on balance. The distinction that makes players that actively lower their MMR disgusting, are the ones that advertise how good they are at some aspect of the game.

Great survivor main that plays baby killers. Nice job dude 👍

Like, for instance, imagine a killer main that has fifty win streaks that they thump their chest on, then you realize they dodged lobbies if they knew the survivors they chanced on are really good or have too many items.

Kind of stains the rep they’re seeking to attain.

I dont believe they have any opinion, if youre a skillful player you should verse skillful people. If you're skillful and verse weaker people your opinion is going to be very misleading as you're against people you shouldn't be.

Not to mention the people on the other hand who are versing someone who has deranked, they are obviously gonna get the wrong impressions as well because they're versing someone they shouldn't

It just ruins the whole system and twists feedback.

  • Interesting alot of people stop trying and some even begin to lower their mmr on purpose. I understand why people have easier games now....

For a long time i would of personally said nurse but ive come to realise that nurse really only has a high skill floor rather then actually having that high of a skill ceiling and i think nowadays id personally say billy is the hardest killer (including skybilly, curving, etc) but i would like to know who you think is the hardest whether that be blight, billy, nurse or someone else.

Billy definitely, blight and nurse arent hard to play and sure some things you need alot of practice or research in but most is tied to "tech" or high sensitivity while billy... it's hard to curve on high skilled players as they understand it

Trickster is also nasty on console, especially on lower sensitivity but that's more annoying than something to learn. I can aim perfectly fine in every other game or killer

  • I'd be up for it, theres many ideas to reduce the grind and I always like this one, I'd love some creative ones like flashlight/pallet/sabo saves or even ones that encourage more stealth killers like hit survivor while undetectable etc.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Weren't they planning on nerfing the distance?

I am hoping both of these are true, I'm kinda waiting on it so I can hop on and play a bunch of basic killers again and hopefully verse them too

  • Pay to lose*

You can earn most things through in game currency and the strongest killer is free.

But you can Buy ash and be the loudest survivor if youd like

Just went up against a nurse two games in a row. Same build same username. How does that even happen? lmao. She slugged me on the floor and didn’t really care about 2 people dcing early. She was mad about a random bill tbagging at her in the first game

I wouldn't say that uncommon, but I play off peak high mmr so I often see the same killer especially if we finish roughly at the same time.

One time I versed the same spirit 4times in a row, game after game she put better addons on till the 4th game she wanted to facecamp me lol

Since CoH nerf has went through, it seems like the next survivor perk to nerf is Dead Hard. Can the forums get some information on what the developers are thinking about Dead Hard?
