Yeah games are getting worse and worse for this, but even games in the past that was 18+ had the f word and everything in yet you couldn't type it...
A sensitive world we live in nowadays

Question on title. Seriously why? I thought MMR will fix this problem, new players will not face with exp players anymore but looks like it gone worse.
JRM and his team are exp survivors. But Trapper? He looks new and probably he had very bad time. Why this thing still happens? New players should have different MMR cap and they should face with each other.
Because SBMM is based of stupid rules, the players you listed dont escape that often as they usually just mess about taunting the killers.
But the devs also changed the animations so survivors could t-bag and 360 smoother and better, they add safe pallets and allow rapid flashing clicking.
A better SBMM would help, one based of actual skill but then people will still derank and smurf not to mention the game isn't balanced for a well done SBMM anyway.

Developers: Hey! You know Killer Hexes? Those things where only 3 are at all worth the drawback?
Players: Yeah...
Developers: Why don't we give them to Survivors, make them infinitely reuseable, and make them even BETTER than Hexes!
Players: Wait, really? Why?
Developers: Yeah! And you know how healing literally negates a Killer's progress? And how medkits promote tunneling, which Killers get threats for? Why don't we make a Boon that does that 10x faster! In an area of effect! And can be reused forever with 0 cooldowns or drawbacks of any kind! Survivors can literally heal in the time it takes Killers to wipe their weapon after an attack! Or behind dropped pallets!
Killers will either have to tunnel, and get MORE threats, or spend time they don't have snuffing the totem! At which point, Survivors can just re-apply it, meaning removing it is literally a lose/lose for Killers!
Killer Players: 😔
Survivor Players: 🤩
Yes, this is a rant. Yes, I know it's being nerfed (again). Yes, the nerf is the wrong thing being looked at. It's not that it heals too fast (in spite of my snark); it's that it has 0 cool down, infinite uses, and removing it is basically like spitting into the wind; you're hurting yourself more than anything else.
I just hate this perk so much and literally no other perk in the history of DBD has made me want to stop playing more than this one..
You know these are the same devs that had seen the giddeon tilted towards killer winning so they added a bunch of god pallets... that about sums them up

Yep, I'm pretty much on the same page with that in terms of what makes Eyrie pretty good for the survivors. I'm not sure how safe the pallets on Eyrie are outside the main building, but I do know that the ramps in the building not having railings messes me up sometime because I'm a klutz and fall off. 😄
Well most cant be hit over by huntress but you can still see the killer over, not all are big but some are and kinds long so definitely a harder map than ormand loop wise.
And oh if never fell off them 😂 I did try to use balanced landing once, I thought I'd do a little meme and jump over the killers head and dart away but I didnt quite clear the stairs and double staggered and got hit lol
-
Devs said they was gonna change these.... a long time ago, who knows maybe they reduce the grind this year
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
They did not even finish rework all maps (Red Forest and Swamp) yet.
Well they spent what felt like half a year on haddonfield, we have really been lacking on maps.
Still doesnt take away the fact alot of maps are just issues balance wise

I think Coldwind Farm should be next for a visual rework. I think they would look really good if they made them night time maps.
I'd like alot of the strawblock loops or whatever they are changed, atm they're just all stacked high with no gaps and it would be nice to add at least a little gap for huntress/slinger to hit through without being forced to hopelessly walking round multiple times as a 110

Yeah that was the bad thing about evolve. If there was 1 weak link the chain broke. Which is why I laugh at all the survivor threads who claim 1 bad survivor ruins the match. It sucks but it's not nearly as over as 1 terrible medic in evolve or a support that's not supporting /coughcabotcough
Yeah I know lol, DBD is lucky theres no class based system or I can assure you it would be alot worse.
It's like overwatch (haven't played in years) but everyone always rushed DPS yet they was no good at it and him here playing the medic with all gold medals 😂
Good times lmao

The only game I played that was similar to dbd was evolve. Besides that I play a lot of games. FF14, xcom2:wotc, Phoenix point, warhammer 3, halo, evil genius 2, gears of war 5, civ, ark, vermintide 2, town of Salem, phasmophobia, among us.
Evolve was a pretty fun game, often got a trapper or medic trying to DPS though lol

I've noticed no particular difference in quality of survivor team mates during or off peak, with the exception being that i see more swf at night.
I'll take the predictable unpredictability of solo q if it means I get 30 second Qs. I'm kind of over waiting 10 minutes just to get grabbed by a GF and get basemented 😅
Well you also have your mmr, server and if you swf all impacting what you do. I know my killer games are more chill (still sweaty but not as bad) layer on so if I need to play killers I'll try do it as near to that time as I can.
But atm DH, map sizes, tiles and their setup is what holds alot of killers back atm. Who knows all killers could be more viable if that was to happen but we shall never know

Freddy is not as weak as you're trying to portray him to be. He is one of my mains, and even only using fake pallets, I do just fine with him.
His addons aren't pointless, if you decided to use your brain you'd see i mentioned variety, not "pointless".
Agree to disagree again then, freddy is very weak and his addons are basically pointless.
Now if you said wraith, I could maybe agree abit more because his addons are good but not to strong or needed. even then hes just another basic attack killer and his lunge nerf hurt his antiloop but if you think freddy is a good example we're on very different opinions and levels

I’m not saying it doesn’t have features which help survivors, it’s a lot like Ormond that way (bright outdoors with lines of sight and a strong central building with god pallets and a rampart that overlooks a lower central area.) I’m just saying it and Ormond are the same size average size.
Well ormand has issues but it's better than Erie and I simply think that's due to the building being central (blocking alot of sight) and it has so many entries as well while erie has 4 doors.
Also with ormand alot of loops and tiles are unsafe (snow pile ones) while erie are pretty much all safe ones especially when the pallets down.
So medium map size (still kinda big for 110), easily see the killer way in advance, big main building you can just waste constant time at with 0 pallet, and loads of safer loops even against ranged killers (tall loops)

I agree with you then. I think her basekit is fine, and completely reworking that would just be throwing a really big and different power dynamic of the game away.
I think the devs should focus more in making all killers basekit stronger, instead of then adding addons that take things way too much, example the ones you gave. I'd like to see them adding different power variants to addons instead, a good example of this is Freddy with both snares and fake pallets. This would make people use addons for variety instead of making underwhelming killers average and already strong killers too much.
Freddy? You mean the very weak killer with completely pointless addons? Yeah that for all killers would just kill the killer base more
Half his addons dont do anything worth all the BP and even then they only work while asleep and they nerfed his basekit by decreasing movement while placing snares and limit the amount you can place. You also get immunity to falling to sleep when you first wake up..
Freddy is not a good example of a good killer base with addons that just change/tweak his power/the game slightly
-
I assume its remove range/recharge addons? Basically just make it even more hold forwards gameplay so she cant catch up without wasting so much time she loses by default..
Personally if you want to change nurse I feel you should go at it a different way and look more into how long she can hold her ability, maybe even limit her turn after a blink so it gives the survivors more counters in terms of movement and puts a nurse under abit more pressure to do blinks

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/319574/so-when-do-we-get-map-reworks-yes-again
Just for reference, Eyrie of Crows is literally the median map size, there are something like 14 smaller maps and 15 bigger maps with 7 maps identically sized. I don’t really get why people think it’s bigger than most maps, maybe it’s just that it has a bright outdoors so it looks bigger? 🤷♂️
I think its because it's open and you have the huge building. Both of these allow huge hold W before you can even get close or get a shot off.
You cant stealth, and you cant mindgame alot of stuff which just hurts too many killers imo.

MMR really killed the fun in matches. On bright side it helped break my addiction to the game. 😂
We are taking our time in Tiny Tina. Because of my husband's work hours we don't get as much playtime as we want in it but it's so much fun. Not sure if you already know but incase you don't know - if you're on Twitter and follow this account they tweet out codes for skeleton keys, there's 2 that expire today and one that expires on the 21: https://twitter.com/dgSHiFTCodes?t=nqZh-gd37_EfuuEcpvXHJg&s=09
Yeah but I actually loved DBD before it, but mmr mixed with off peak time? Nah I'll pass lol.
And that's okay, no need to rush the game but it certainly was a bunch of fun! I appreciate the heads up on the keys but they dont tend to drop legendary items. Iv also kind of got the best gear I can get if we exclude perfect rolls lol

DBD I maybe only play a couple times a week because I rarely have fun playing it anymore. When they were doing the MMR tests that was the most I played in awhile to try out and give feedback on the tests.
I'm currently playing a bunch of games that aren't like DBD. With my swf teammate I'll play For Honor or Among Us, Hood was just made free through ps+ so probably check that out with him. With my husband I'm playing Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, loving that game so much. By myself I'm currently playing AC Valhalla, was meh at beginning but now I'm really enjoying it.
Yeah I dont play as much DBD either recently, MMR has just made it meh to me for both roles.
I cant speak much about alot of the games you listed but I'm loving tiny Tina's, new dlc in a few days (21st I believe)

Just my opinion but I'd like to get others to weigh in. From my perspective, he's OP because:
- his ability charges up extremely fast.
- he can do 90 degree turns while using his ability (I used to play Oni and I swear this wasn't possible back in 2020. Was this a recent buff?)
- he practically knows where you are at all times if you're injured since the red orbs you omit can be seen by him
So you can't really loop him for that long (unless you're on a map that totally negates his movement) and you can't really hide from him if youre injured. And that's not even considering the perks that he'd have equipped.
Thoughts?
Just play safe at the start, hes a basic attack killer and really easy to loop as it. He only becomes good if people feed him his power early on.
Also he can only flick 90° well hes meant to, so that makes looping certain tiles pretty easy providing you loop them differently to normal.
He can be good in his power, but certainly not OP
-
So what do you do when you dont play at peak time where games are watered down?
Or what do you do as a basic attack killer against safe or god pallets?
While I'd love to spend all day just gaming DBD at peak times with an expanded pool so I get more chill players.... sadly I dont, I'll play off peak time where people actually play sweaty.
I'll have 4 survivors stacking meta and actually know how to loop, they wont just give me free downs... but if you think they're all viable lucky you, I'll avoid killer till I can have fun, verse more chill players or perks like DH are changed.
Edit: no one is asking all killers to be nurse level, just better than they currently are. Alot of issues are maps, tile setups and some perks but apparently they wont change huge maps so...

Even BHVR has explicitly stated this themselves in the most recent Q&A stream. In any game, most are average - why it’s an "average". Very/extremely good players are only a tiny portion. When you factor region and time zones when people play, it is obvious there aren’t enough on for an even match without waiting for hours.
Basically every skill matchmaking-adjacent game has this issue. League’s Challenger players, Overwatch’s Top 500, etc. It’s inherently difficult to solve. The percent of very good players will always be very small.
This is the reason very good players will win almost every single game in DBD ever, no matter what they take or run. They are just outright better than the average player. This is not a balance issue. When one side is a lot better, it is a given the results will be in their favor.
If people want to cite extremely good players as proof of balance or lack of it, they need to cite games where there is an even skill match up - something extremely rare in pub games/more common in KYFs with other high-level players (eg, extremely good streamers organizing a KYF between one another).
"Good/god players will win almost every game." Obviously? The matchmaking does not put them against equally good/god players every single game.
I mean the game is unbalanced, when you have huge maps, completely safe maps (giddeon) and makes that spawn with a bunch of safe tiles which can combine together thanks to rng same as the pallet density yes the game is very unbalanced and that's not taking into consideration certain perks (cough DH)
Fact is if you verse your skill it's going to be a horrible time, and you only beat people who arent as good as you if you end up in one of those maps as an example.
Sure I get at a certain level it may be more balanced because people waste pallets, dont run meta, cant loop perfectly and dont do gens efficiently but as soon as they do goodbye half the killers.
I have been misplaced in matches, and I can do the exact same chase and one game Its a 3-5gen run and others it's a 1gen run.
Game is balanced for casual and inefficient players, while that may be the majority doesnt make it balanced sadly

I play a lot of horror games on the side, but they are not like Dead by Daylight. I would play Resident Evil Resistance, but not enough players with that game trapped behind Resident Evil 3.

I started playing DBD in February of 2020 so...at least 2 years :D
I'm curious about the RE4 remake but not super curious. RE4 was the start of the new gameplay style so RE2/RE3 getting the remakes brought way more to the table.
I suppose if they do a big story overhaul like they did with RE2/RE3, I'd consider getting it once they do a full blown remake of it.
RIP iv been here since 2016 lol
Ah see res 4 was my first one I played, buy it every time it gets released on the next gen. I'm certainly hyped for it I just hope some controls get changed, they was wacky haha.

DBD is the only multiplayer game I play. I generally shy away from multiplayer games because they can be super frustrating and anger inducing and I seem to constantly get my arse kicked by kids who play for 20 hours a day who...oh God...it's DBD!!!
Anyway, I play just about anything that is good. The nice thing about Game Pass is there are a lot of games I may not have considered trying but could because it was "Free" on Game Pass (...including DBD. OH GOD!!!!!).
I just finished RE3make and have been flip flopping between wanting to finally start Dark Souls since it's been on THE LIST for a long time (and with my Discords all going nutter butters over Elden Ring, it makes me want to jump into a Fromsoft game), Cyberpunk (Bought it for $10 months ago and have been waiting for it to stop being garbage on console, which I have heard it has hit that point now), and LIfe is Strange True Colors (Love those games and I was super happy it showed up on GP).
I booted up Dark Souls so there's a decent chance that I will go with that but I don't do a good job of starting games. I pretty consistently start a game, play for 15 minutes, wander away, then come back for 15 more minutes, wander away, then whine about how the game isn't grabbing me (maybe give it more than 15 minutes Tippy? Shut up Tippy!)
Ooo resident evil is always a good one! You excited for res 4 remake?, cant say much about the others as iv only dabbled in them. My misses says good things about life is strange.
How long has DBD been on GP? I own GP but I brought DBD on its console release too many years ago and I'm still here lol

The topic at hand was that a lot of things on the killer side get nerfed, some that should be nerfed, and others that were overkill, like I also mentioned on my first post here.
They could even remove dead hard, and some killers would still struggle against SWF. One perk is not the problem. The problem is a lot of killers being underwhelming because if they get buffed to compete with SWF they just destroy most solos.
But since you think solos are at the same advantage as SWF, ofc none of this will make sense to you.
I never once said solo and swf are on the same level, now you're making stuff up. I just said solo isnt bad because of the 0 communication, its issues are elsewhere (dcs as an example).
And DH hurts all basic attack killers alot especially if there are multiple per trial (usually 3+ if you're unlucky like me) but this is a pointless discussion as you believe DH is fine and make stuff up that I have never said.
I'm done replying though, I dont really want to be going in circles especially when you're making stuff up that I have never said. Alot of killers need buffs yes, but DH, alot of maps and even tile setups stops alot of killers being good at the higher level. Swf just makes that worse, doesn't mean weaker killers dont struggle verse the highest level solos.
-

Where did I say you shouldn't play? I was talking about myself, not your friend, because I value my own time.
Everyone is free to play, but if you're gonna say that you escape 70%+ of your solo Q matches, when that is not the general opinion, I think you should show proof of it.
That isnt the topic at hand. I also explained why there is a bunch of issues with that and I cba to repeat myself.
Topic was not all killers are viable at the highest level, and most of the roster will struggle verse solos that are at the highest level. Especially when certain maps, perks and tile setups are added.
Agree or disagree I dont really care, we have very different opinions on most matters and the fact you think DH is fine just makes me care about your opinion less especially when talking about weaker killers.
Maybe after the DH distance change they will do better but I cant say till that happens.

You mentioned using 2 perks that aren't meta.
And saying you don't provide proof because no one would be happy with it, it's just a lazy excuse. You yourself said you didn't have recordings of your matches, we also asked you for you to stream your game so we can learn how to get that 70%+ escape as solo players.
And no, solo Q is not fine. For all the reasons that have been mentioned on these forums for years now.
If I still struggled to loop at 5k+ hours, I wouldnt be playing. I'd waste my time on something I'm actually good at. Hours can mean skill yes, that's why people would rather have someone with thousands of hours on their team instead of the 15 hours random dwight/meg.
My first post wasnt that, but I'll quote the one you missed:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2907393#Comment_2907393
So just because someone isnt up to your expectation they shouldn't play? How about let people play what they want? If he has fun even if hes not amazing with thousands of hours does it matter? No.
And your first reply to me. But I'm done replying, my point still stands that most killers even against solos struggle at the highest level, either you agree or you don't.

They still said that some ideas from the early game collapse evolved into other ideas etc.
controller is overall at a disadvantage, sensitivity is just awful and should at least be adjustable for aiming vs normal gameplay, aim dressing takes away many valid hits for controller killers, some killers like Blight, Huntress and Nurse are way harder and have a higher skill floor and lower skill ceiling on controllers, deadzones should be adjustable in the settings etc pp
Oh I only heard that they dropped the idea, certainly wouldn't hurt killers to have something early game.
Well I mainly play on controller and while I get the deadzones etc. Would be nice most things just come down to sensitivity and I'm pretty sure most controller users (especially console) dont have high sensitivity.
And yeah I dont even get aim dressing at times, you do a straight lunge and if they do a perfect wiggle you do this weird short lunge lol

When I said wake up can be meta I was joking, because I main Quentin as a survivor. I'm sorry that it was not understandable for you.
And I never said all killers are viable, if you read my first posts on here, you'd see I even made a distinction between killers like trapper and nurse . But cherry picking is better for your "solo q is fine" agenda.
When you say you escape 70% of your solo q matches without meta perks, yes, I will call you a liar, specially when you refuse to provide proof.
No one at 5k+ hours is a casual. Someone disagreeing with you doesnt make them a casual.
I never said I didnt use meta, I said I always used 2 perks and the others was swapped in and out. And I explained youd never be happy with anything I gave you as proof as it doesnt suit you.
And solo is fine when you're high mmr unless you get miss placed or have people rage quit, none of which will change by add perks etc. Base kit for solos.
And yes you can be casual with many thousands of hours, I have a friend who plays this game all the time and has thousands of hours and he still struggles to loop, mindgame or play at a higher level. Hours doesnt mean skill.
And your first reply was asking for stats to where most killers struggle at the highest level as if it's not obvious.
You have your opinion and I have mine.

How many hours do you have, to be calling me a "casual"?
Oh look now only hours matter? Been playing since the console release if you must know.
But a quick skim of your discussions and comments I see you think DH is fine, wake up can be meta, all killers are viable etc.
Funny how quickly you get offended though considering you just always call me a liar and void my opinions. But if you truly think all those basic attack killers have a chance on alot of the maps or even in alot of tiles against highly skilled survivors you clearly arent versing the most experienced players, even more so when DH is free distance and mistake correcting perk.

@Mooks said:
i want to see major gameplay changes: whatever remained from the formerly early game collapse, hatch/moris were still talked about being integrated into the core gameplay iirc, make survivor gameplay more diverse/interactive outside of chases/less one animation at one spot for a long time, less frustrating killer gameplay, get those meta perks in line with other perks (don’t make some perks seem like you should use them to not play at a major disadvantage)
then we need more accessibility and QoL additions/changes (eg photosensitivity issues, disadvantage of controller players)
additionally: Grind reduction, additional prestige rewards, daily system rework
God damn I forgot to add the grind reduction in my post lol.
And sadly that early game collapse has been said itd never be a thing, personally just make corrupt tier 1 base and turn corrupt into a totem blocking perk.
I wouldn't say controller is at much of a disadvantage though except maybe blight? But even then it's all sensitivity which most controller players dont want mega high sensitivity

Yeah totally not believable that alot of killers struggle at high mmr just simply due to them not having the ability to down quickly and easily. Theres a reason why blight and nurse are so common, unless you're really going to pretend all the killers are viable...
Probably a casual who goes down at all the safe/god pallets.

Most killers loose against high mmr solos anyway, they dont need to even be a swf.

I'll post mine:

Ironically enough the first screenshot I took is the one I also pasted on the DBD steam forums to (try) help clear up some confusion regarding the adrenaline perks intended functionality.
I'm very interested to see everyone else's first ever screenshot - if your first pic is something like a loading screen feel free to pick the next one, or post your first few if you like.
Many many years ago, back when people was just starting out and this was my first ever survivor game

You're in what is known as the mmr pit.
So low that you cant win because no one does f all. Your best bet is to swf to high mmr and then you can solo again.
High mmr is pretty boring though just saying
-
Because killers arent judged the same as survivors.
Survivors are balanced and thought of as a casual player base while killers arent, tbh i never liked the idea of adding this in as i dont get why survivors couldn't just count/remember... its not like they do much else in a trial.
Maybe it's a compliment saying killers can count? Who knows
Edit: some survivors still dint even look at the counter, numerous times I see people waiting for the unhook and they're dead lol

Clowns need 0 nerds and a few buffs.
I dont know if you have ever been in smoke that thick but it's quite hard to see and the visuals in this game are very generous in comparison..
I feel you're just mad you lost to a clown, it happens
-
Its pretty obvious most players arent enjoying killer and everyone always compares it to streamers who are very talented, they struggle so what about more casual players?
Theres a reason killer has so little players...
I dont play killer, and I get bored of survivor too as it's so limited in the killers I see. Reasons why me and alot of people play other games

At least in my experience. Nurse and Blight are way too common in my games but I have seen only 13 Spirits since her nerf 6 months ago (yes I have counted). I don’t get it when Spirit is arguably in the same tier as they are. Also Spirit feels very fun and rewarding to play (I am not trying to say that Nurse and Blight aren’t to others, I’m just talking about Spirit).
Does anyone else feel the same way?
Because shes overrated in tier lists, usually tier lists are good killers ranking them against casuals...
I feel the fact she had directional audio (removes alot of mindgames at pallets, windows etc.) Hurt her too much.
I personally never thought she was all that strong, if anything shes just annoying now as I only see blossom spirits... I get she needed a few changes especially to stop the standing still mindgame but not directional...
Shes also 110%, requires full ability bar to use it, and while she has some good addons you can still verse people who just sit at pallets etc. I never liked playing her in the first place, even less now she has directional... especially at high mmr and IW seems to always be used when I play her lol

Please bo wider hit boxes, it's already a pain to get the prompt sometimes to where if you go any closer you can get sucked in

How do you play around Blight with ruin+undying+tinkerer? Tinkerer is braindead and very good. It gives you info for free and if you combine it with right perks it is just annoying.
Yes some Survivor perk are braindead, this is why the Part 1 is for, to help balance them out.
All work on separate gens and know how to loop.
Or you can learn some totems spawns, help you can even spawn on them. I gave you multiple counters to it in my previous comment, 1 killer cannot be in multiple locations at once.
I always find it funny how killer shouldn't be able to use a perk for info, while just in your other post you want kindred etc. As base... that's an info perk and you want it for free and not use a perk slot?
The games a 1v4 not a 1v1, perks that require a combo arent that strong and if you buff a bunch of other perks tinkerer would also be used less.
I also explained how tinkerer is still only good on high mobility, certain maps and when combined with other perks... that's alot of requirements.

I don't agree with the statement for Tinkerer. I swear most killers run Tinkerer and it is such a braindead perk. This is why i reworked Tinkerer so it would be usefull while you would still need to work for that info like with BBQ and Thrilling Tremors.
Tinkerer is bad on it's own, it's only good when paired with other perks and has many counters to it not to mention it's not that great on slow mobility killers or just certain maps in general
Work on separate and multiple gens, he cant be everywhere. Keep an eye out when it gets to 70%, hide and make him waste time if you want. If a killer drops a chase on you die to tinkerer just follow him and hop on the gen he chases someone off. Use a toolbox when you hit 70% etc.
I hate how we call a perk you need to combo with too strong and brain dead, nearly all survivor perks are brain dead. Tinkerer is fine, just people are too lazy to play around it...
-
Tinkerer doesnt need to be changed, it's good.
I'd say the killer has a better range of meta perks than survivor, while alot need to be buffed killer still has a wider range of meta perks used especially on different killers.
Some changes are good, scourage perks should add 4 hooks per perk then even if it's not the strongest effect you still get the passive 4extra hooks.
Edit: another thing they could do is change all perks that require kicking to be triggered on explosion/damaged.
Having jolt trigger stuff like overcharge, or oppression creating multiple overcharge etc. This would really increase the possibilities of perk combinations
