  • So an anti-deerstalker perk? I like it.

  • @ashleyatkinson

Why a bug? Why not give a Tantrum Chase addon?

  • (it's already a cone, if you look up dev commentary and do some measuring)

  • It's more difficult in higher ranks, and more difficult in PC than in console. I'm sure people do it, but I've mostly just had the pleasure of laughing at people failing.

  • Looks like the attack cone hit your butt, so thanks for the video evidence of a legit hit.

  • Not an exploit. Just inventive use of game mechanics :P

The difference is whether the devs consider it an exploit, which they do not.

  • Keep in mind, Ace is also the tallest. He's pretty easy to spot when survivors 'hide'

  • A Pig main's thoughts

    First Changes:

    • The roar is fine as is, it lets a good Pig dictate loops and is necessary for when I'm meming
    • Crouching buff is good
    • Couching speed is fine, though I wouldn't mind an addon to increase it. Pig's already a lil faster than Ghost Face.
    • I'm alright with a buff to box search time, but maybe 16 seconds from 12 instead of 20 - I already get head pops fine, without tunnels, and this would annihilate survivors on maps ranked 1-5 where an extra ten seconds, even unseen, even running in straight lines, would mean death.
    • The RNG is fine. Commentary about how it's inconsistent indicate a lack of experience with Pig long-term, and it's kind of needed so survivors don't say "hey, I just have to do two of these and it's gone"
    • I'd suggest another, lesser penalty. Perhaps a 1-3% increase in timer speed, rather than jumping 30 seconds.
    • Less skilled Pigs, i.e. the ones who wouldn't count properly, would use this information to camp certain survivors - your idea is good on paper, but would be terrible in practice.

    Addon Changes:

    • Combat Straps - Down for the change
    • Razor Wires - Seems good
    • Jigsaws Annotated plan - 'Hate' the key idea, so no.
    • Jigsaws Sketch - Still 'hate' the key idea.
    • Amanda's Secret - Seems fair.
    • Amanda's Letter - Still no. Plus, Amanda's Letter is fine as it is, I love it on Lery's or in the corn.
    • Bag/Crate of Gears - Like I said, the stuff you propose is too harsh. Depending on the day, the totality of your changes would probably bring Pig killstreaks well into the hundreds. These numbers could be modified, and the general ideas are good (except the keys), and it could all be brought to balance fairly close to Hillbilly - if not a lil bit above - if less harsh changes were implemented.

A possible compromise for the Jigsaw Boxes: extend the timer ever so slightly, say to 165 seconds, and require two keys: one guaranteed in the first box, and one in a random box. That way the element of chance inherent to the character and playstyle is preserved, while slapping the RNG whiners with something nice.

  • Every survivor's torso seems to be a bit overlong, from an anatomical standpoint. I went through and measured when doing a commission piece :P

  • This is not an exploit, this is you failing to recognize bait.

The animation can be cancelled at any time, and the only reason it's sticking in your head is because you apparently got wrecked by someone with a lil more knowhow than you - not even more skill, just a lil more knowledge of how things work.

  • The explanation is that the survivor in question would rather project their insecurities upon you than admit they got bested.

  • Sounds like you're a killer main who happens to also be terrible at playing killer.

Camping = gens being done without pressure.

Tunnels = gens being done without pressure.

I don't camp, I don't tunnel, I get my 4ks: 3-hooking people is more satisfying than pretending tunnels and moris are skill, anyway.

  • If you want a realism answer: start jogging, throw a hatchet, then throw a bottle, all while aiming at a particular target. The hatchet is more likely to go off course if you don't slow down.

  • I mean.. killing farmers on a DBP weekend, really. I don't tunnel, I don't stay near the hook unless another survivor is there, etc. I'd say I'm a nice killer overall, I even keep track of whether people are slugged excessively to prioritize giving that person the hatch.

But there's been a couple times when farmers are doing gens, pallet slapping, letting me hook them, and I just.. stop caring about them having fun - lemme tell you, the lil peeps start squawking then.

But I managed three instaheals in one game against a Trapper one time, with Plunderer's+AitH and one brought in. I gave myself to him at the end, because damn that was dirty, but everyone else got out with a key I found.

  • Barb's glasses are a Demogorgon addon, not a map prop.

There's actually a lot of easter eggs in the licensed content.

  • Kids, let me tell you about this magical thing called "copyright litigation", and how it's tied up the Jason Voorhees character so tightly that there's literally no way he can appear, even in cameos, because the rights to his likeness is being appealed by the courts for all eternity..

No matter how business savvy it might be, there's no way for BHVR to touch Jason right now. Victor Miller and Horror Inc. are too entrenched in legal battles, and it extends beyond his standalone game regardless of his fan's preference to ignore that.

  • @TheUnendingNightmare

Yup. The Hex Ruin having more regression on a missed check wouldn't mitigate that the two affected could just do skill checks normally, as we in red ranks do. Missing greats isn't a penalty for the rank least likely to miss greats, and all you're doing is allowing two people to be completely unhampered at a time. Whether you agree or not, the facts here are that what you propose is a nerf. Your imagined scenario of only one or two survivors working on gens has very little to do with reality, considering that a typical reaction to Ruin in high ranks is "hah, they wasted a perk slot" and the survivors pushing through.

Oblivious, btw, isn't stalking. It's a new mechanic which removes the killer's terror radius for affected survivors, which may apply retroactively to GF, Pig, et al., so it would do pretty much what you want without the inane idea of invalidating a previous perk - and would even synergize well with that previous perk.

  • @HuntressIsMyFavXD

Good players don't tend to need NOED, and the most likely scenario for it actually going off is bad players - that said, I had a rather annoying game last night while I was trying to help a survivor friend rank up before reset. Turns out nobody but me did bones, apparently shrug

Plenty of good players do use it, including that Wraith, and I respect the hell out of people who use stuff like NOED and the like without stagnating. It's just a trend I see that many don't bother developing their midgame if they're confident in the endgame.

  • You're just empirically wrong that this version of Ruin isn't a nerf - it's directly weaker, allowing normal play from those affected and those unaffected being faster than what we have now. It would amount to essentially the same gameplay as now, except like the rest of us red rank survivors we'd be doing gens faster with your change.

You 'going for a better Third Seal' is you going for 'a perk that directly invalidates the existence of another' - bad game design, bad idea. You wanna shut down killer tracking? Oblivious does that now.

  • Despite it clearly being stated that this is bait, I do think NOED could use a couple of tweaks so it doesn't encourage lazy play by my fellow killers. My biggest complaint is that NOED allows weak players to stagnate, essentially allowing the absence of the development of skill.

  • Chasing at the expense of hitting other survivors, or targeting only the unhooked survivors: that's tunneling, and it's the 'legit tactic' of cowards. It's gonna cost you gen protection unless the survivors are as bad as the people who think tunnels are smart - down them if they're dumb, but don't risk DS and leave them slugged to pull people off gens.

  • Ruin doesn't need a nerf, and certainly doesn't need to be made as useless as this suggestion. If anything, it needs the buff that the upgrades to totem spawns will provide.

Disruptive Energy is, as @Yung_Slug said, just a better Third Seal. I'd suggest deafness or oblivious being applied, versus blindness, and just removing the 'sensory perks' bit.

  • I've been having a lot of fun running We'll Make It, Botany Knowledge, Self-Care, and Plunderer's Instinct - I've found it a bit weird, but I'm also hovering consistently at Rank 2 with this, oftentimes pipping enough to hit Rank 1 and stay there for a bit. I guess I undervalued healing people previously. shrug

It's also been nice because I'd been running low on items, given that I'm a killer main usually.

  • People tunnel and camp because cowards aren't gonna change just because they're using something strong.

  • Alien. Then werewolf. Then literally anything other than the lameness of 'possessed dolls'.

  • Just gonna steer people away from the idea of taking agency away from players - take your locked perk slots to one of the many threads about survivors getting individual abilities, please.

I'm glad I'm not alone when it comes to not playing Nurse much. That gets embarrassing sometimes, as a killer main.

  • Wrong? Eh, kinda. Justified? Sure, if you like.

Facecamping, tunnels, these are 'legit strats' admitting you're genuinely bad at the game and don't care about BP or emblems. Patrolling nearby, especially if you know the others are close, that's gonna be fine pretty much no matter what.

  • They're not gonna get shot.

Given where they're meeting, they'll hit a known minefield before they get in range of any gunfire.

  • Lost pips, lost BP, lost items: while the recent changes have solved some of this they haven't been eliminated as issues when killers DC. Saying otherwise means you're lucky, not that it doesn't happen.

  • The cooldown is low. The counter to it is that's it's not actually a strong power. It's not best used to patrol, it's better for checking gates than gens if you insist on it.

Demogorgon is yet another killer who can be completely neutered by survivor awareness, he's really not a comparative threat.

  • Kiddo, you don't seem to understand: BHVR cannot make whatever skins they want when it comes to Stranger Things, same as there's limits to Ghostface designs and a current absence of Myers alternates.

  • @Johnny_XMan

    Yup. Exactly what I meant.

  • Camping at red ranks? You won't be red ranks for long, and it's less than believable to claim that you're already there.

  • What kind of content do you make?

If it's animations, make animations. If it's RVB-style machinima, there's a vacant spot for that. If it's montages/play-by-plays, there's a niche for it. If it's anything else, go for that too.

Make what you want, and work to make it the best you can. If it's good, people will flock to it.

  • @βLAKE

QoL does not include cosmetic changes like a mori that's already fine the way it is, kiddo. Alternate traps are only QoL changes for people who lack skill with Pig.

  • Pig main here, perfectly content with the mori we have.

We don't need alternate traps, we don't need alternate moris, just some QoL adjustments and updated addons.

  • Nah. Take a break, get a hall pass, and come back when you know enough to love TrapDaddy all the better for it.

  • Trapper is fun and simple. However, he's not as viable until you learn how higher rank survivors think: learn that through other killers, other experiences, and come back to him with all the knowledge you gained.

  • Keep in mind, the ptb is the 'no consequence zone' where people can dump their arsenal of killer destroying stuff with no consequence, made that much worse because no Demogorgon is gonna have the experience needed with the power to adequately prepare, much less the same level of perks.

I kinda wish the ptb were closer to an online KYF, with everyone starting with access to all the best versions of their stuff for every game. We'd see some real deep dives into how things worked, then.

  • Devour>Haunted>Seal>Lullaby>Ruin>Thrill>NOED would be my list, in order of fun involved - though, strictly speaking, Ruin/Thrill/NOED are tied for the absence of fun from this killer main.

NOED is either a clutch victory or 1+ unearned kills, with a vast ocean of nothing in between. It's very rare that I see a skilled player use it, though it does happen. The issue seems to be that introduction to NOED tends to make killer players stagnate, because there's no activation condition dependant on the killer doing anything well. Same for Ruin, really, if I can avoid playing it I do. Tremors + Pop does nicely in its absence to slow the game down.

Thrill means little to me because my totems don't ever take priority, and when I'm playing survivor I'd rather give the killer those few extra BP.

Lullaby can be fun when paired up with other things in a build, but it tends to survive about as long as Ruin - an average game says 40-80 seconds, dismissing outliers like survivors spawning next to it or it surviving the whole match.

Both Haunted and Seal are pretty easily sussed out/countered by SWF, but it's a treat when they work. My Myers/Bubba builds like them both.

Devour is just fun at every stage, though. I don't really care if I get the 3 or 5 stacks, though it's glorious if I do.

  • Adams often have Deliverance, Megs often have Sprint Burst, Bills are gonna have Borrowed Time and are the most likely to have Unbreakable, Lauries have DS, Claudettes are gonna have Self-Care, Kings have Dead Hard, Fengs have Lithe, Neas have Balanced Landing, Tapps have Tenacity, et al. People who play Ace tend to pop in the current meta, people who play Ash tend to meme, Dwights are either great or awful for the team - there's a lot of assumptions that can be made. I tend toward assuming survivors have whatever loadout is least beneficial to me, and act accordingly.

  • Upstairs has been fun and tense, but newbie survivors have a tendency to cluster there if they're too altruistic. Once people understand its risk, it'll be less congested and then less dangerous.

  • @Locker_Monster

When the side proposing 'change' has been around for less time than you, and seems unaware that what they propose has already been attempted and crashed/burned as hard as people like me are aware of: yeah. Uninformed people aren't particularly worth listening to.

While it would be wonderful to have inbuilt voice comms, and if done well would serve as an excellent bridge between solo and swf while also being good to killers, it would only thicken the toxic sludge that binds large portions of this community together with every version proposed, and there's no proposal for its implementation that adequately addresses the concerns the original beta and other games raise about it.

  • Kiddo. The legacy skins were supposed to be that very certificate.

Don't wear them if you don't want special treatment, just like people shouldn't put TTV in their names if they don't wanna attract a mori. That's just the way it is, and some 'certified item' is exactly what you're getting targeted for.

  • There's only one side to this discussion: the people who understand the harm in-game voice chat would do. Anyone else is by rote not worth acknowledging.

Spam and such are the things I enjoy being able to avoid in this game. Children whining or idiots yelling "but I hit my Dead Hard" are preferably avoided too by any sensible person. There's literally no way to make in-game voice chat non-toxic: look at Deceit.

  • So... you wanna get rid of mostly midrank killer options for nerfing survivor meta, at 6/9 killer suggestions being fun but meh for BP and emblems vs. 5/5 garbage ideas for nerfing survivor that just indicate a lack of confidence as killer? Okay, sure Stacy.

  • The lalas are there, actually. Her song has four different renditions strung together, they're not all hums.

  • 32,000 BP, with 8000 earned in each category, is the best you can get without BP modifiers. You did excellently, but not every Merciless is perfect - perfect means absolute, and without flaw, while you could have received more. That isn't saying you could have done any better, of course - the emblem system, bloodpoints, and kills are stacked against efficient killers.

  • @ShrekIsHot

I was just going off of the current DL, trying to give the last survivor (getting the full detriment/benefit of the perk) the same numbers - keeping in mind that a lone survivor can't ever actually receive the full benefits: there's no one to perform altruistic actions on.

  • Dying Light and Insidious are the tunnel and camp perks. They could both do with a rework.

Nue Dying Light: for every sacrificed survivor, every other Survivor gets a penalty of 6/8/10% to Repair and Sabotage speed, as well as a bonus of 10/15/20% to altruistic action speed.

Remove the obsession, it doesn't eliminate tunneling but it does eliminate the focus on tunnelling.
