i'd love that idea but i dont think its needed. I think just keeping the RTB active without the requirement of a gen popping would be healthier for the game due to it keeping up the anxiety factor with the timer and they still have a choice on how to deal with this, take it off or do something else. otherwise survivors will just do the boxes or help with something else without worry until someone else finishes a gen to activate the timer.

keep in mind that when people are working on gens with an active trap, they have a great chance of death if you start hairdressing them when they start searching boxes. You can punish them for ignoring the boxes heavily.

So it activates on unhook instead of gen being completed? I like that too.

Oh and in the very rare instances i saw someone doing a gen with an active rbt i made sure that person didnt escape πŸ˜‚

  • @Zeus said:

Honestly removing the timer completely and putting incapacitated effect might be an interesting food for thought. No more going after someone with an RBT until they die. Dying to an RBT is also frustrating for survivors so it should deal with that too.

Need to think more about it though. It's just an early idea. Could be faulty but don't see anything from the surface.

If they remove the head pop might be good to increase how long it takes to search a bit too at base. I wouldnt be opposed to that personally.

As it is most of the survivors i face give 0 shits about the rbt so i dont feel bad about running faulty timer + extra box (whatever its called).

So what might be a change is this:

Remove head pop, but now searching a box takes 25 seconds at base. Survivor is incapacitated while wearing an rbt. Change the boxes so that your chances of finding the key increase with each box (they boxes would work more like trappers traps instead of what they do now).

    Box 1 - 10%

    Box 2 - 25%

    Box 3 - 75%

    Box 5 - 100%

You can fill in gaps when extra boxes are created with 20% and 50% respectively.

I'm in reds and so many red ranked survivors still make the dumbest mistakes and half the time you will get matched with low ranks anyways. I don't think you have played solo as much I have if you think solo queue is fine.

When I play survivor I play almost exclusively solo. Yes they do sometimes make silly decisions but not the same level of stupidity as lower ranks. Usually the bad decisions at high ranks are born out of cockiness instead of just inexperience. Like i almost never see someone get to 2nd stage on their first hook. The one time ive seen that happen in the last month we were legit gen rushing the crap out of this spirit and he was hooked in basement. Had 4 gens done by the time he hit 2nd stage and she got her 2nd hit. At low ranks you might sit on hook through all 3 stages and no gens get done. Theres a massive difference there. Its way more likely that a survivor will get to cocky cause they assume that the killer will assume they have bt or overestimate their ability to body block. Theres the occasional potato in reds but thats rarer than people make it out to be.

As for solo que being fine, I think it is for the most part, just depends on the iq level of your teammates πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

  • Solo que is bad because most survivors do extremely foolish things, especially in the lower ranks. Reds its not that bad

Yeah loads of things are causing freezes in my survivor experience...

Gens popping, gens being damaged, survivors getting hooked and unhooked, getting hit with sloppy...

Also i decided to run dead hard one match, that was a mistake, never again until the freezes are fixed.

Anytime a survivor uses dead hard my game loses its mind and more often than not the survivor just disappears

  • I think this means to catch two different survivors with the same trap in the same place...maybe...

  • @Orion said:

I tested this, Feral Frenzy's Killer Instinct is indeed tied to TR. If the survivor cannot hear the TR because they are Oblivious, then you will not gain Killer Instinct.

    Good to know

If I was to make a survivor oblivious, or myself undetectable, would that make me unable to detect heartbeats at all? Or would I still be able to see them in a 32m radius?

Making yourself undetectable will screw you yes.

Not sure about oblivious but i imagine no, youd still be able to see them

It is though, it’s a guaranteed kill for the killer, they just have to get a hit

Theres a lot of things that can happen where the killer doesnt get a kill. All bones could have been broken befire end game, noed could be broken during end game before the killer gets a hit, the killer could hook someone, noed gets broken, survivors get the save and leave, the killer only gets 1 kill (still a loss). At no point does having noed guarantee a victory, its not like all the survivors get nuked once the last gen pops πŸ˜‚

NOED is actually surprisingly good in the right hands. It's gotten its rep as "trash killer" perk because its mostly used by bad players (whether just new or simply just suck) to get the kill they cant otherwise. However, on someone who's actually planning around it, NOED becomes very, very deadly. Demo + NOED + Infectious + Distressing + STBFL = Wiping survivors in 15 seconds in the endgame.

Never occurred to me to use infectios and distressing with it before, ill have to try that. Thanks

  • @MadLordJack said:

NOED is an absolutely terrible perk that only helps you win if survivors try to cleanse all 5 totems. Otherwise, it's just a free kill that helps you feel better about your loss.

Its not a loss if the killer gets a 3k. Your goal as survivor is to escape, not complete the gens

    I wrote and quote:

"This Hex should work like other perks in a way that rewards skills"

I've never said that all the perks in the game reward skills, there's plenty of killer/survivors perks that are straight up base improvements, so I don't get the purpose of the question.

But about those two perks. They don't, and that's the whole point, is an ability style perk, to make survivors last longer. And being this a Hunter/Prey game on where the prey needs to have alternatives, is more than necessary. In this case Dead hard and Sprint burst exist to give a chance to survivors. Other wise bloodlust will end all persecutions eventually, especially on certain maps on where loops suck.

Now, just trying to interpret here, so tell me if I'm wrong, but with the question that you just made, it almost seems like self pityness because you are having a hard time with people calling you out for using NOED, just don't fall for that.

It's a perk, if it is in the game, then, use it, play the way you want. With the salt aside, at the end of the day, nobody cares about it, the perk will keep being the way it is.

In my last 40 survivors matches in red ranks, I haven't encountered a single NOED, and as killer main, the answers is more than obvious, it doesn't worth it. If you get trashed and yo do a comeback at the end because of NOED, even killing everyone, will most of the time not give you a pip in rank 2-1. So the perk is bad, and if someone does a magical comeback with it after getting trashed, then survivors are as bad as the killer using it for not cleaning bones. Just a bad mechanic overall, nothing more nothing less, most people want to change it to make it fun for both parties, because is just one of "those" perks, not because it's unfair.

The purpose of the question was to highlight that noed is comparable to exhaustion perks directly, and that those perks dont require you to jump through hoops in order to use them. They are the same thing. Exhaustion perks increase the length of chases, noed decreases the length of chases but only during end game.

I agree its not a particularly good perk, i just dont see any problem with it as long as exhaustion perks exist. Id be fine deleting both, but its unfair to delete/change 1 and not the other

No, i rarely use noed and when i do its part of an endgame build, ive played long enough to know better than to listen to survivor complaints.

  • @aroell said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2304176#Comment_2304176

You have to be efficient and manage your exhaustion to get good value out of sprint burst, and you gotta time your dead hard.

So the skill comes in after and how you use the exhaustion perk.

Noed the skill is being able to know where people are and get the first hit quickly. Its not like its an auto 4k

    Does Eruption stack with Surge?

Probably. Id switch overcharge for pop though.

    Why overcharge? @TheClownIsKing

  • He doesnt need a rework. Just major buffs.

Put his traps in a locker, he starts with 2 but can carry 3 at a time and can place up to 10. Make tar bottle and yellow trap setters basekit. Disarming a trap requires a great skill check.

That would make him S tier :)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/260542/unpopular-opinion-noed-should-not-be-nerfed-changed

"There are no gen regression/defense/slowdown perks that exist as baseline perks. NOED is basically your only other option if you don't take some sort of gen defense."

The main option on defending gens is your own skills playing the game, not perks. NOED is a perk that rewards killers that are being trashed by survivors, in a normal MMR game on where you get trashed by your opponent, you de-rank, period, you don't get a magical "life savior" to make a comeback out of nowhere, like this Hex.

This Hex should work like other perks in a way that rewards skills, the most basic way should be that the totem only lights up when certain conditions or objectives are met by the killer, example:

    -Hook x amount of survivors.

-Successfully hit survivors x amount of times.

    -Chase survivors x amount seconds.

The list on how devs could make this perk better goes on and on. Right now the perk is only good for making new killers get less frustrated with their first matches and that's it. If you get survivors that do bones, the Hex will be off in seconds after the match starts, so you'll get way more value out of other vanilla perks that come with the game by default.

But honestly this is a well known topic, that is constantly popping in this forum, meanwhile most killer/survivors mains that don't complain about this kind of stuff, only hope that the new upcoming MMR system fix the inconsistency on skills.

How does sprint burst or dead hard reward skill exactly?

  • I think noed is fine as is as long as exhaustion perks exist. If you want to remove one, remove the other.

  • Whispers kind of blows except at the very beginning and during hatch. I havent run it in a very long time

I'm assuming that is where it comes from. Most of my experience is getting a lot of hate during and after matches as a killer and normally just do a GG WP <3 as other killers normally do ( back when i played more survivor ) but now I see it as about even with BM'ing. I was surprised killers BM this much now. They didn't used to nearly this much imo.

Yeah its a newer development with me too. Its like, hey theyre having fun trashing in game, i might as well too. I dont send hate messages or bleed them out on purpose, but a lil love tap wont hurt anyone.

I learned recently that if you stab a hooked survivor while in feral frenzy it doesnt knock you out of it. You can stab them like 8 times before it ends πŸ˜‚

  • If whats the case? Smacking people on hook? I dont see it as a big deal, i lmao every time a killer does it to me. No different than tbagging which 99% of survivors do at gates. Its all in good fun imo

  • On Fred:

Third seal, nemesis, dark devotion and tinkerer. Add ons: dream pallets and the one that makes him invisible till hes close (or the one that spurts blood from all gens).

Basically the survivors can trust absolutely nothing they see or hear.

Well I figured instead of complaining about killers I would give it some rounds to see how bad it is. I got decimated. I think I maybe hit 1 person then got flashlighted like crazy. I even went around the outside of the map and looked behind walls and still got killed for lack of better words. I figured playing survivor all the time I would have an advantage since i know where most people hide but I was wrong.

If you play killer more youll become a better survivor and vice versa. I recommend sticking with it for awhile and when you go back to survivor youll be able to think like the killer better

  • @drpynz said:

I haven't played survivor in over 3 months and just recently started playing survivor again ( killer main ) and always thought the survivors were more toxic then killers. What has happened? I would say more than 50% of the matches I am in I see BM's. I'm not talking about tunneling and camping, i dont care about those things.. im talking about trash talking after the match and hitting on the hook and downing everyone and letting everyone bleed out. What happened? I thought killers had more of a code of honor than that?

Smacking people on hook is fair game after 3 years of the messages i get πŸ˜‚

I dont do those other things, thats trash

  • @DragonSlayerX67 said:

Everytime i try to play killer regardless of if its a swf group i get hate mail from a person who is way better who tells me to uninstall and other rude things fro having to resort to camping and tunneling just to get one kill with the bugged match making or me trting to learn a new killer

Does anyone else deal with this?

Yeah man hate mail is pretty standard. Its almost every match. And youll get it whether you camp and tunnel or not.

One of the greatest mind games the survivors play is getting you to follow their imaginary rules. Dont fall for it

  • @van9684 said:

I see a lot of complaining on here about how awful and difficult it is to play killer, how unfair the game is, yet most of you are killer mains. So why is that?

I played killer only for a long time and it was just too easy. After that initial learning of the game, I never had to get better or develop new skill so I switched to survivor. I also like the teamwork aspect. So, why do you continue to play killer if it’s so bad and makes you angry?

Because when i beat you i know i did it despite bhvr holding your hand

  • @Noz said:

Survivors want 12 hook games, but don't want to 99 7 gens.

Brilliant way of putting it. Im stealing this and pretending its mine fyi. Cheers 🍻

  • Gen rush beats tunneling though, unless the person youre tunneling is awful

  • If you time it right you can hit a survivor just as tgey come out of dh, it looks broken but its not. A lot of tines it happens on accident, like i hit my lunge button 3 milliseconds after you hit the dh button and im already on your ass, yeah youll go down it will look like dh just did nothing

So since DBD fixes everything besides their bugs that kick people out out and make them lose points I’m now a rank 9, I was a 4. I’m getting killers who either camp or tunnel. Is this the new strategy for people who suck? You get no points for camping and tunneling so why do it, it’s not fun for either.

This has always baffeled me, why is it you think killers get no points for camping and tunneling?

Its not true fyi. Youll lose some pip points for straight face camping but if youre the kind of person/in the mood to face camp you dont care about rank anyway.

Also, with the game as laggy as it is right now trying to loop is an absolute nightmare. I know you get it on survivor side too but a single whiff could cost you the game as killer so it doesnt suprise me more people are camping

I don't see how in the current day and age a robot would be able to do all the actions a killer does in a match.

Also, I would not like a robot in DBD, tbh.

Cyborg is probably a more appropriate term, it would look human but be a robot. Then like half of its face is missing showing the metal. All the different skins they could do with this would be cool. Not sure what its power would be

  • Terminator is basically a slasher flick and hed totally fit.

They could do a robotic killer i think. Even the newest chucky was a robot

I misunderstood the numbers. I apologize.

Still, it creates a detrimental scenario to the survivors, especially if those 3 get intercepted. Then we get to a number which I fully understand: the 50% slowdown. Reducing everything by half while getting an extremely precise tracking gives you actual control over the match, something which can be capitalized on.

Not to mention that, if your numbers are correct and it takes 38.1 seconds, it was still one gen. And we can still take spawns and perks into account. Wish I had a time machine, it would make things far easier.

And yes, I think that pulling into the Dream World, which actually happened, is way more accurate than a hypothetical pool of blood.

That 50% slow down was never staying, you saw what they did to his add ons. Imagine ruin + undying + thanta + a 50% slow down. Theres no way that stays.

There were pools of blood in part 3. If were sticking with the remake, you dont know that he pulled them into the dream world. You inferred that (your words). Its not difficult to infer that if he can make a river of blood he can make a puddle of blood. Im not even sure why that needs to be explained. Him making puddles of blood isnt anymore hypothetical than him pulling them into the dreamworld from being awake
