Faced a Legion with two "Mend yourself and get penalized" add-ons
I happened to have Exponential equipped
Placed Boon at far end of map
Get Deep Wounds, run to Boon area
Allow Mend timer to deplete, downing me
Pick myself up, NO PENALTY
Do this multiple times until the other Survivors realize what I'm doing
They start doing it too
Legion can't commit to a chase without abandoning a 3-gen they had set up
Thankfully, Legion realizes what's happening and D/Cs after about 20 minutes of this
And that's how you win in Solo Q

Considering killers got a very popular meta back with DMS+Scourge Hook, dead hard and self-care should be returned to make survivor gameplay a little more bearable and add some hope and fun back.
This is only one very small baby step to helping ease the misery and lack of motivation of survivors.
Survivor morale is the lowest in the history of DBD.
Dead Hard coming back will never happen, that absolute mistake of a perk can stay in the depths of hell where it belongs
Self Care and DS getting reverted would be fine though, especially DS, because then we’ll have a actual anti-tunnel perk instead of the hilariously ineffective OTR

Huntress and Twins
if I had a nickel for every time I got hit by a hatchet that absolutely should have just sailed past me, or Victor flat out missing me but still latching on to me by grabbing a single strand of hair, I’d be able to fix Greece’s national debt 3 times over

The license price doesn't change with the upgrade.
When you upgrade the engine, there is a conversion. Worst case scenario, some code needs to be adapted but it's never very different. It's not like if UE5 was an entirely new engine.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3117550#Comment_3117550
Changing engine, no. Upgrading the version, yes. They've done it in the past.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3117600#Comment_3117600
But was it because of an engine change, or just because they tend to mess-up a map or two after each new release?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3117779#Comment_3117779
It is, they've done it in the past.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3117829#Comment_3117829
It would be surprising. The engine doesn't suddenly becomes slower with upgrades. UE5 is a power-house. It can do way bigger scenes than its predecessors. It implies it potentially can do the same scenes faster.
UE5 is a lot more graphically intensive then UE4, it will absolutely make the game tank on slower machines
a engine being capable of better graphics does not mean that every machine will be able to handle said graphics
-
Considering how unstable DBD can be, I imagine that porting it over to unreal 5 will either mess up a few textures at best, or actually make the game fully unplayable for several weeks at worst
either way, older machines would just straight up not be able to play, which would suck big time

As we saw in the Project W trailer, Ada is seen barricading a door...
You picking up what I'm putting down???
In place of some pallets there could be doorways to rooms that survivors can slam in the killers face. Some sort of bar could also fall from the side of the door frame blocking it after it's slammed, giving a reason for it to be broken instead of just opening it again. It'll act exactly like a pallet in terms of stun duration, and time it takes to break it, but it'd obviously have a different animation (Perhaps the wall break animation?)
Given that RPD is being reworked this could be a fun and unique gimmick exclusive to this realm, Similar to how completing gens open up paths in the meat plant (And in the removed Hawkins Underground Complex).
What are all your thoughts on this?
i could see this being a rework for breakable walls ngl, sounds like a interesting idea

Basically all of my oops moments involve Haunted Grounds, the most embarrassing one was against a Wraith
i cleansed it right as the Wraith was walking past, he uncloaked, slowly turned towards me, and then downed me, i just stood there and accepted my fate
we laughed about it in post-game chat because it was easily the funniest Haunted Grounds moment i had, but i was holding my head in my hands when i realised the Wraith was right there
-
I’ve had several fun post game chats, some have been wholesome, some have been toxic, but my personal favourite is one I had with a Streamer, The map was Mother’s Dwelling, the survivors were a Jake, 2 Mikaleas, and I think a Nancy, I was playing Demo, the match starts out normally, i downed a Jake relatively quickly, then I downed the Streamer, I assume the Jake had something to do IRL, because he DCed on hook, after that, the match became a farming match since I really didn’t feel like stomping a 3-person group, the match went about as you would expect, I showed off some funny shred angles, and then ended the match with a 3 man slug race that the Nancy won, we had a nice conversation in post game chat where we echoed the sentiment that the Jake DCing turned the match on it’s head, but we all had a laugh regardless
-
i know exactly nothing about Wesker but his eyes activated basically all of my simping neurons so i'll probably buy him if he's fun on the PTB
-
A nerf to Thana Legion and Thana Plague is appreciated but i am mildly annoyed that DS wasn't reverted/OTR wasn't buffed to also hide blood and scratch marks, i am also annoyed that they aren't buffing the basekit BT
The patch, like you said, is fine, i've seen worse, but i have also seen better
-
I am a casual player at heart, the only times i DC are when i have IRL matters to attend to, or a cheater is holding me hostage
Maybe it's because i have more of a backbone then the casuals you are describing, but i don't leave the match if i'm not having fun, because that would ruin the game for everyone else
Also, advocating for cheating because people aren't having fun is one of the single stupidest statements i have ever read, in what world is cheating because playing the game isn't fun a good mindset to have?
-

Because bending to blackmail validates its use and makes it an effective way to control you.
The better solution is to put measures in place to limit the nuisances.
also the fact that the devs have never once reverted a patch in the game's entire lifespan
if they didn't revert Binding of Kin or RE despite those patches breaking the game and rendering it almost unplayable, they won't revert 6.1.0
-
The only real problems i have with 6.1.0 are the following
- Basekit BT does nothing
- The killer buffs made camping and tunnelling a lot easier
- DS was nerfed for no good reason and OTR is a subpar substitute (continue huffing excessive amounts of Copeium OTR users, your "anti tunnel" perk is only good at stopping tunnelling when paired with Lucky Break or Overcome)
- Killers still run quad slowdown because there's simply no incentive to run anything else
- Thana's buff made Legion and Plague border on unfair and boring as hell
Everything else was either a good change or a okay change,, i've been playing pretty much exclusively solo queue since 6.1.0 came out and the game really doesn't feel all that different, sure playing against Thana Legion or Thana Plague is more aggravating then before and killers are more prone to camping, but i still escape about as, if not slightly less, often as i did before

If you can't see why OTR is better that probably explains why you're so frustrated with the update.
I’m not frustrated with the update in the slightest, i just think OTR is a poor substitute for DS

Break down, break out and off the record
Breakdown stops hook trading during camping situations and helps create dead zones for some time. If you get off that hook your off the record saves you and you can use it to tank a hit for your savior while helping them get off the hook.
I've used this in solo q and escaped 5 times in a row thanks to it. I've crawled out because no hooks near the gate to put me on.
I'd add Lucky Break to that list, since then you become effectively untraceable after you've been unhooked
a shame that you need to run it in order to make OTR even remotely useful but it is what it is

Sure.
- DS was possible to mess up, especially for less experienced players.
- DS had a shorter effective duration.
- DS only worked once.
- You could slug someone to counter DS.
While i have no disagreements with any of your points, consider the following
OTR can be disabled as soon as you get unhooked due to the deep wounds from basekit BT, making it's "Anti-Tunnel" basically moot
OTR's other effects (IW and Aura-Reading immunity) will do nothing if the killer is already experienced in dealing with IW/you run into a area with no cover (quick edit i just realised, OTR also doesn't hide your scratch marks or your blood, so the killer can still track you, kind of pointless since DS also didn't hide your blood or scratch marks but i figured I'd point it out just to show how little OTR actually does in helping you get away)
OTR's other effects also encourage playing like a Blendette for 80 seconds since they get disabled if you progress the game, meaning that survivors will more often then not do nothing to help their team until the perk ends, or at least a hefty amount of time into it's duration, and any perk that encourages doing nothing and screwing your team over in order to get value out of is bad by default
If you get slugged with DS and the killer knows you have it, you can still try and get away and recover or get a teammate to help you, as soon as you go down with OTR, it becomes useless to you, as the killer can just freely pick you up
-
Every time i see a post asking for a 5th perk slot, i think "Do these people really want to play against Quintuple Slowdown? or Quad Slowdown with NOED? Or Quad 2nd Chance with COH?"
Do you want to live in a world where Quintuple Slowdown Nurse or Quad Slowdown Nurse with NOED exist? Because i sure as hell don't
-
If i said it once i've said it a thousand times, Legacy is not only overrated, it actively screws you over if you wear it because you stick out like the world's sorest thumb
-
@TheSubstitute said:
I have a suspicion that a significant portion of the people complaining are doing so due to a lack of willingness to adapt. For example, I still see posts talking about DS when OTR is now more effective than pre-patch DS was.
Please explain how a perk who's primary effect can be disabled as soon as you're unhooked, and who's secondary effects encourage the person running it to play like a Blendette for 80 seconds, is just as, let alone more, effective then pre-6.1.0 DS
go ahead, i'll wait
-
OTR being active during Endgame i wouldn't mind
DS being active during Endgame however...yeah, no, I've had enough people DS me at the exit gates to last me a lifetime
-
especially now that it has effectively been taken out back and shot
good frigging riddance
-
i've only ever ran one or two slowdown perks whenever i played killer before 6.1.0, and that hasn't changed
in fact, since the game became inherently slower due to the gens taking 10 extra seconds, i've had a lot more freedom with running perks, Lethal Pursuer builds are a personal favourite of mine since they effectively kill immersed Blendettes, a strat that i despise with every fibre of my being

1- How can all survivors agrees do it this? In which secret headquarters they plan these things?
2- Who in the right mind would waste 3-4 hours of their day only to dc?
3- DC's isn't something new. They play against Spirit who is tunneling them early they get hit from 10 meters away then they rage dc, This isn't too uncommon.
4- Is the queue times also one of Survivoes evil plans?
I only wrote this because some Killer mains streamers started to say this. Which is stupid but im not surprised.
Watch a killer streamer sometime and count how many people either kill themselves on first hook or DC, that should give you a idea as to why they think what they think
As for the theory itself, I'm sure a few delusional basement-dwelling survivor mains genuinely believe that they can get the devs to do something they've never done before and revert the patch by ruining the game for other people, i don't know, but personally, i haven't really seen enough evidence to suggest that there is any actual effort to mass-DC/mass-suicide to get 6.1.0 reverted
-
Solo Q is a lot harder since there is now basically no counters to tunneling, DS is useless and OTR is a subpar at best substitute, that wouldn't be nearly as bad if gens weren't also harder to complete due to them taking 10 seconds longer and gen regression perks taking out much more then they used to

A clear way to really punish camping and tunnelling (as promised)
Solo survivors better communication and buffs
gens back at 80 seconds
COH removed or nerfed into oblivion
Could we add a nerf to Nurse’s addons and a buff/rework to OTR to that list?
-
Credit where credit is due, you actually did proper research and provided evidence for why you believe what you believe, genuinely, well done
as for the 3 points you’ve made, I have no disagreements, except with the 3rd one, after all, a system can’t exactly be dysfunctional if it doesn’t exist to begin with

@Bwsted said:
Camping at 5 gens is more efficient than at 1 gen, where it's a last resort.
At 5 gens, camping applies maximum pressure for minimal effort. Simple as. If you want a 4k, that's the nobrainer choice.
[BHVR seal of approval here]
The only time camping is “efficient” is if the survivors are idiots and swarm the hook
if they do gens, then the killer is applying exactly zero pressure
-
I was playing against a Sadako on Shelter Woods, she was chasing me at a jungle gym, and hits me, nothing out of the ordinary, I use the speed boost to run to shack, i camp the pallet, and somehow, against all reasonable logic, she swings, the weapon glyph she summons goes RIGHT THROUGH ME, I stun her, and then continue the chase
she literally did every thing right in that situation and the game robbed her of a down, the glyph went right through me and somehow did not damage me
needless to say, I felt very bad, but couldn’t stop laughing
-
One thing I like about Lery’s is the atmosphere, especially when playing against Dredge, Demo, or a stealth killer, they nailed the creepy abandoned hospital aesthetic, and completing the centre gen and watching the different monitors fall down will never not be awesome
one thing I dislike though, is the fact that playing Billy, Huntress, or, to a lesser extent, Oni on Lery’s, makes me want to gouge out my eyes, I really do wish that the map was not in the map pool if you pick one of those 3 killers
-
It is A choice, but it’s not a very good one, why make queue times 10 times longer for yourself just so that you don’t have to deal with the occasional cheater? The cons outweigh the pros
-
I read the title and saw the first 2 comments, raised a eyebrow and thought “what on Earth are they talking about”
then I actually saw the clip and wondered how in the name of Christ have BHVR not implemented basic server checks to stop stuff like this happening

The issue is, how do you buff solo queue to SWF levels, without also buffing SWF? Every attempt to do so in the past. Has also buffed SWF.
Only way to bring both on the same level, is something the community is against: ingame voice chat.
something as simple as a chat wheel would be a buff to Solo Q without also being a buff to SWF
-
a chat wheel for solo q should be a priority, a lot of the problems of solo q would go away if you were able to communicate with teammates
i'd also buff the basekit BT to 7 or 8 seconds so you could actually get somewhere before it ends
a OTR rework so that it's BT effect for a certain amount of time whenever a gen is powered would be appreciated too, since it's current version does exactly nothing to disincentivise tunnelling (and also gives the killer free STBFL stacks) and actually encourages playing like a Immersed Blendette for 80 seconds, and quite frankly any perk that encourages a playstyle that is both boring to play against and ######### over your teammates should not exist
a small Nurse nerf where she doesn't start recovering her blink charges until she's recovered from the fatigue would be pretty nice, plus a nerf to her range and recharge addons
Revert the nerfs to DS, it does exactly nothing right now, maybe revert the decreased speed boost from getting hit as well
Buff Sadako so that she can go through windows and pallets when she's Demanifested, as well as remove her lullaby, it makes her stealth completely obsolete
that's really all i want tbh

I let the last survivor go in one of 4 scenarios
- The game was a stomp and i feel bad
- The last survivor outplays me in a stupid way
- Hatch spawns right next to them after i down them, thus signalling that RNGesus has blessed them and i need to respect that
- The last survivor does something hilarious
If they don't trust me i completely understand it, but i always let them go, even if i have to forcefully drag them to the exit gates

At that point survivor deserves to escape but if not then noed should also be removed no more free kills either I've seen too many times bad killers winning only because of it. It's not either good for their mmr going up falsely thinking they are good.
Survivors never “deserve” a escape, just as killers don’t deserve kills
NOED also got nerfed, and even then, Small Game exists
and also MMR doesn’t exist, anyone who says otherwise is a controlled operative peddling deception and attempting to sell you snake oil

I play based on what I feel like doing at that moment, regardless of queue times
those tome challenges won’t complete themselves after all

Whether it is or not, it is the principle that it is possible to not use it successfully.
While that is true, very few people actually failed the skill-check in practice, at least in the matches that i saw
Principle is important, but practical results are more important

the one and only time i've been hit by DH now is when a absolute gigachad of a Steve intentionally ran into me and used it because he knew i'd swing on reflex, have literally not been fooled by it at all otherwise

DS and OTR get disabled during endgame because that's when the killer either HAS to tunnel or camp in order to secure a kill if they weren't able to get you to second hook before endgame, OR it becomes completely pointless because you're already on 2nd hook and you're probably going to die anyway
i wouldn't be too upset if they did get enabled during endgame though, since DS does practically nothing right now and OTR is...well, bad at being a anti-tunnel perk (i will die on this hill), and if you got hit by old DS during end-game then it's honestly your own fault because you either didn't get them to 2nd stage before endgame/didn't eat DS early, but that's the reason why it's disabled during endgame
-
bold of you to assume that MMR actually exists
