That would cool but he also has strong zoning for no reason so that definitely needs a cool down too. If you have words otherwise I can show you a clip of zubat zoning a nea.

Also why is it bothering you that we want to have a chance to survive chases. You seem very irritated that people want deathslinger to have counterplay.

Those clips are horrible, as if the survivor would have ducked they could have avoided it. There is no way anyone can argue he doesn't have counterplay, at least not more so than most any other killer. He has no inborn location mechanic, he has no mobility, he can't go through walls, and his gun is basically negated at indoor maps and any map with high walls (which their are plenty)

    Deathslinger isn't a problem.

  • So they just killed flick completely? Or is he only a straight line now?

Yeah seen him on a few streams, chainsaws across the map 3 times in a row then instadowns 2 survivors without even coming close to overheating.

What an absolute joke. There was no point in even adding the cooldown. The balance team identify an issue but then cave in to pressure from the loudest voices online. Its really kind of sad how much control a small number of people have over the development team.

I wouldnt be surprised if he gets some charge time and curve add ons back in the hotfix too.

    Its cowardly.

Quit crying, instasaw is gone, that's all he needed removed and the devs pretty much agree, thank God.

Depends on who you were using it one before. If you were using it on killers that mainly used their power to down survivors. Then yes. Otherwise its a straight up buff on killers that mainly/only used their m1 to down survivors. The change is something like,

"Survivors cant see their downed allies aura unless really close, no matter how they were downed"

"Survivors downed by basic hit are blind (they cant see their allies) and allies still cant see them unless really close."

So if you used it on Billy, Bubba, huntress, plague, Oni. Then I got bad news for you. Less so if its Pyramid head, demo or pig. And everyone else its a straight up buff.

    Gotcha, thanks for the info

  • Wait ... They didn't nerf knockout did they?

i find it highly amusing that one of the main arguements against Springtrap being in Dead By Daylight is that he's from a kid's game, FNAF is many things, a series for children is not one of them

1.The first game, Animatronics possessed by the souls of dead children, if they catch you, they stuff you into a suit, where you die a horrible death

2.The second game, The Bite of 87, where a child's FRONTAL LOBE was bitten off by a haywire animatronic

3.The third game, Springtrap is a murderer who targets and EXPERIMENTS ON children, and now he is doomed to walk around in a spring lock suit, trapped in a coffin of eternal pain and anguish, doomed to never die

4.The fourth game, the Nightmare animatronics, enough said

If the FNAF series is a children's series then I can fly and shoot lasers out my eyes

i would not really change much, the only thing that will make nurse feel like she used too would be to make it that if you hit a survivor after a blink you get a blink back instantly that way if you blink twice and get a hit by the time the fatigue ends you will have both blinks already so it will make nurse feel like she used to in a chase whilst keeping her map mobility the same

This should have been one of her red add ons, it would reward skill and be limited to blink lunge hits

But his work was genuinely genius.

  • I mean, this is a bit silly really, isn't it? It's not the killer itself, it's the person playing.

Like I was a Billy main for a good 8 months- a year when I first started playing, and I had plenty of games where I would allow 1-2 survivors escape when I felt like I was dominating, bit when I played Myers and got my first tombstone piece back when it was way better, and got a direct message asking to farm?

I took almost full advantage of 3 of the survivors naivety, claimimg I made a mistake or didn't know holding down the attack button would make me Mori, etc.

So imo Hillbillies are mostly cool (Chill Billy was even a name going around for a while) and Myers are all snake sneak, dirty S.O.B.'s.

Wrong. Next to Spirit, she is the most unfair killer in dead by daylight, especially for solos. Billy has counterplay, but this killer has none. You are either 1) huntress main enjoying your 4Ks all day long or 2) has never versed a true huntress main

Tell me how looking behind you will beat the huntress when she holds the hatchet waiting for you to get in animation to vault a window or throw a pallet? You are doomed either way. Nevermind if she is so bad they miss 4 times in a row if you are injured, the 5th one she throws way over your head at a loop and it hits you. Yeah, only in this game that happens.

The reload for DS will you give you plenty of time, usually, to run away if he misses. Huntress can quickly pickup another hatchet.

Huntress was released when the state of the game had a million more pallets, the maps were significantly larger, infinites and god loops exists, sprint burst could replish mid-chase, decisive strike was pre-hook defense, and insta-heals existed along with insta-gens. Oh, and at that time she was released, we had peer-to-peer connections which made her hatchets more fair. So survivors have been nerfed into the ground since that time, dedicated servers has ruined her hitboxes, lullaby was changed to be omni-directional, and you are telling me she is still fair and most balanced killer in the game. Give me a break.

Lmao you're nuts. Who TF upvoted this? You aren't even complainimg about iri hatchets. Come on, how low do we have to go now?

I don't understand what you are trying to say, my point is that I would 100% of the time take the antics that go on in DBD over nearly any other competitive game hands down, like I said being held hostage in a game for 30+ minutes and then losing cause a teammate had a tantrum is far worse than someone telling me to kill myself over the internet. Also as a survivour you are the main factor in your score, if someone is trolling or AFK then it is still within your power to earn a black pip and not de-rank. Also with my original post I had no intention of being rude or condescending

Well, you did the moment you discounted others experience with Toxicity in this game. Someone getting doxxed on this game is no different than getting doxxed on another.

And it's funny you even brought up game stalling - look for the multiple threads about how survivors would literally play locker jockey and never leave. If you haven't played this game before end game collapse, I get it, but stalling for 20 mins was something almost every killer in this game has experienced. Ask about Blendette squads and how this game looked before it got a major optimization change. This was of course before end game collapse, but even now, someone just posted about survivors refusing to leave, steal thing the edges of the map, and just refusing to play the game.for about an hour and a half...

I don't even think stalling was originally a reportable offense, but survivor players abused it so hard.

  • Correction: it should be the warden from the 3rd movie.. he's also the director of the franchise, if I'm not mistaken. Iconic horror figure, that guy

I don't think someone calling me a bad word or insulting me based on a skin color is NEARLY as bad as someone on League INTENTIONALLY trying to make me and the entire team lose as well as giving the enemy team a free win is the same, if someone on DBD "upsets" you can literally get up from your PC and go do something else with no repurcusions, not on League though guy says he's going to break into your house **** your dog and then kill your family all while walking into the enemy team but if you leave the game or AFK then EZ ban for you nice 20+ minutes wasted on nothing but free rank loss and frustration just play better next time right? I guess words on a screen that ultimately have no impact on the game is somehow worse than someone actually ruining your game and wasting your time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dude, survivor ques used to take 15 mins on PS4, a survivor being toxic cost you at times, at minimum a de-pip and a 15 min wait.

and btw voice comms exist there, people can send you hate mail much easier on console, and I've been threatened and bullshitted in this game. If you actually ready post you might know it has gone farther than just a text in end game chat, which isn't even on console so your whole argument is a strawmen. But keep being condescending and wrong, you literally are flexing about what community is more toxic. I'm sure that energy gets you alot of positive attention.

Also good for CSGO and League of Legends, I guess?

  • @Hippie said:

I understand what you're saying, but the things I was focusing on with my discussion are more gameplay-related than communication, and even then it's still far worse. People have been doxxed endlessly on League and CS:GO, and the harrassment is through the roof on those games as well. At least on DbD (as a good-natured solo Survivor), I have far more games without bad behavior than with, not to mention the fact that you can only use text chat in the end-lobby. But in regard to gameplay, there are far more opportunities to ruin players' games in the games that I mentioned, and winning and losing matters much more as well.

Much of the communication toxicity on DbD can be avoided by leaving end-lobby as soon as you get to it and disabling comments on your profile. On console, you can simply block receiving mail from other players, I believe. But, take away the communication toxicity from DbD (and ignore the forums, since they are NOT vital to playing the game and are only representative of a fraction of the people on DbD), and you're left with simple in-game behaviors that are ill-mannered and rude, but not "toxic".

Huh, fair points there man. The endless doxxing there surely takes the cake. That said I never was a major fan of any Moba or CSGO, so my personal experience is limited.

Survivors do it to troll Killers, they likely do so without knowing that they are giving the Killer Iridescent Shards.

And? If I buy killers and don't gaf about the lore, that does aost nothing for me. I get where your coming from, but I don't also, because I just don't see why justify it in the first place. It be like saying there's nothing wrong with segregation..maybe it can be argued that their would be less racial tension if folks stuck to their own kind, but is that justification for having the mindset?

Well what else are you gonna do bro? Have a mini breakdown because the survivor is taunting at the gates for the umpteenth time? Sack up and end the match. Only you have the power to.

Just because you have to deal with it doesn't mean it isn't wrong, but if that's trully how you feel, I wonder if you ever gave someone grief for camping, tunneling, or slugging? Jesus, some people can't see the forest for the trees

    Accomplishment:

    1. the successful achievement of a task;
    2. an activity that a person can do well, typically as a result of study or practice.

According to Steam only 3.8% of the players have reached rank 1 as killer. I think that does make it an accomplishment worth going for. Will it mean that you are a stellar killer and will never lose a match again? Obviously not but it shows you've put in the time to work on your skills.

Personally I measure the improvement of my skills by how well I can apply pressure and predict survivors' actions, by not making stupid mistakes and using my power to its full potential. This could result in a 4K but it doesn't need to (however, it's particularly satisfying to be underestimated and then kill everybody).

Basically the most important is your satisfaction with your skills and not other people acknowledging your ability or not.

That's only on steam, but interesting none the less. that's inarguable. Does it say how often survivors reach rank 1?

  • Hmmm... I pretty much agree, but you'll see soon if you say things like that to survivors without calling killers "camping, tunneling babies who only want 4K" Survivors will assign you a religion..

Every time I post anything as a survivor I get backlash and same for many others. Yet when a killer complains about gen rushing or perks that can be circumvented its almost NEVER blamed on them. This forums community refuses to acknowledge that survivors face issues as well regardless of strength or majority or minority everybody deserves to be heard without snarky comebacks. Like yeah everyone can prevent what happens in dbd. Regardless this is supposed to be a community not a dbd trial quit getting down eachothers throats

Dude, you made a post about inf teir 3 Myers slugging. You expected to get a rush of support when really the long and short is your team screwed up big time to allow that to happen. Myers isn't GF, he can't just sneak up on you outside in the open, he's tall and super white with a blue/red jumpsuit, and he's slower for the whole game.. And if you don't know why killers slug, you probably play in low ELO or and area with more bad survivors than good.

You have some nerve trying to force your opinion on people, then to exert that because that opinion was met with disapproval and get betters/ sorry for bad teammates, you decided that means everyone here is a killer main. Grow up, not everyone will agree. Don't need to ######### talk everyone because you didn't get the response you wanted, and technically this thread should be shut down, but the mods have pretty much abandoned this place and I don't blame them.

    "Toxicity"

I've seen it often on this forum and the Steam discussions page: People love to use the word "toxicity" when speaking of various behaviors on Dead by Daylight. These behaviors range from a Survivors spamming the crouch button to Killers hitting Survivors on the hook, even going so far as to label certain things as "toxic" that are part of normal gameplay, e.g. hook sabotaging, "gen-rushing", camping, tunneling, e.t.c..

Now, I am not saying that some of these behaviors aren't ill-mannered or uncalled for. Specifically crouch-spamming, obnoxious flashlight-clicking, facecamping, hard-tunneling, slugging for no reason whatsoever, repeatedly triggering loud noise notifications, e.t.c.. However, compared to other competitive games that I have played throughout the years, "toxic" is far too strong of a word to apply to these behaviors.

I've seen many people say that, "Dead by Daylight has a super-toxic community because the in-game mechanics enable extreme toxicity.". The reason that people state this is due to the fact that they feel "targeted" by the opposite side, whether it be for their name, what perks they're using, or their character, or even what their character is wearing. And honestly, it is easy to feel this way, but it is unreasonable to assume that the other side has a vendetta against you every time they exhibit one or more of these behaviors.

I have had many experiences with all of the "toxic" behaviors on both sides, and while some of these instances (mostly on Survivor side) WERE a case of being purposefully targeted with the intent to "ruin" my gameplay, I would say that these instances only make up about 5% of my total gameplay (counting the time that I spent in Tan and Green rank). And yes, these experiences do suck, but compared to negative experiences in other games, they don't even come close to how negatively a "toxic" player or behavior can affect you in other competitive games.

    True Toxicity in Competitive Gaming

    League of Legends

While I no longer play the game (and haven't played it for about 2 years, and will never play it again), League of Legends was a game that I played avidly for about 3, then on-and-off for a couple years after that. And you have never known true "toxicity" unless you've played League.

"Toxicity" in League of Legends can actually ruin your game. Teammates can repeatedly let themselves be killed by the enemy, thus boosting the enemy team and pushing them ahead of your team. Teammates can also become upset and sit AFK in the spawn platform or disconnect. Teammates can use All chat to tell the enemy team where you and your other teammates are. People can be (and usually are) EXTREMELY toxic in the in-game chat, saying horrible things until you mute them, but once they realize you muted them (because you quit responding, or didn't respond in the first place), they will intentionally ruin your game by one or more of the methods stated above.

Not to mention that these things don't just happen in "Normal" (non-ranked) games... they happen often in Ranked games as well. And losing Ranked games on League actually matters... a lot. I won't explain how the ranking works here, but let's just say that whenever you lose, your MMR can tank easily and you start getting matched with people who are much worse than you, and that further contributes to lost games. Losing a game on Dead by Daylight really doesn't mean anything, as the ranking system really doesn't mean anything in the first place.

Another thing I would like to mention is that you would think that "Normal" games are casual, and that they are a great way to practice new champions and builds... however, the amount of "toxicity" that you will receive on Normal games for trying to learn a new character is overwhelming. Players will do the aforementioned behaviors game after game, even on the casual game modes, and it makes for a very unpleasant experience.

    Counter Strike: Global Offensive

I've played CS:GO for about 6 years now. Not as much as of late, but I still hop on every now and then. And, again, you have never known true "toxicity" unless you've played CS:GO.

As with League, "toxicity" (in Competitive mode) can actually ruin your game. Teammates can kill you at the start of the round and get kicked, forcing you to play with bots that take their place (these bots are finicky and will sometimes not listen to a "stay here" order, and proceed to run out and get shot). Teammates can also shoot you throughout the game (without getting kicked) and also kill you throughout the game (without getting kicked); they can also knife you in the back "accidentally" (putting you down to about 30 HP), throw molotovs/incendiaries at you and your teammates, use smoke grenades to block your view, and refuse to boost you up onto areas that can only be reached by boost... and the list goes on. They can also scream into their microphone until you mute them, and then grief you anyway.

Ranking is also harder to obtain (and easier to lose) on CS:GO, whereas on Dead by Daylight you only ever lose one pip. I personally have been able to stay rank 1 as a Survivor for many, many months now, and I achieved rank 2 Killer while only playing 1-2 Killer games every couple days. Not bragging at all, just making a point about how much easier the ranking system in DbD is versus other competitive games.

Not to mention that being a female on these games is even worse. I am a normal gamer and do not behave in a cringy manner whatsoever, nor do I have cringy material on my profile, but it is nearly impossible for me to use my microphone on CS:GO without getting flamed, mic-spammed or killed by my own teammates, so I have to resort to using text chat (which is more time-consuming and not conducive to fast-paced gameplay) for less-toxic games. And on League, having a "girly" username (or speaking in a "girly" manner, i.e. using smileys) will also garner toxicity. But on Dead by Daylight, there are so many other females playing the game that it is normal, i.e. they aren't singled out for "toxic" behavior, especially in my experience. Not trying to make this a "females oppressed ree" post, just stating that this has been my experience since I've been a female online gamer.

I would talk about Rainbow Six: Siege, but it's basically the same deal as CS:GO.

    Conclusion

In the end, my point that I'm trying to make is that the "toxicity" that players experience in Dead by Daylight is not real toxicity. "Toxicity" is too strong of a word for the behaviors shown in DbD, and I would liken it more to "BM" (bad manners) or just simply being rude. When you're losing a game on Dead by Daylight, you can just let yourself die on the hook and move on to the next game with little penalty. If you're not having a good game as Killer, you can AFK and allow Survivors to open the gates and leave while you watch YouTube or look at your phone. And if you don't want to deal with end-game chat, just leave the end-lobby once you reach it. Nearly every bad behavior in Dead by Daylight can be shrugged off or ignored, but in real competitive games you have to suffer through the game or face a ban.

On a side note, I think it's insane how people actually think it's OK to disconnect on Dead by Daylight... "Why should I have to stick around for a game that isn't going my way?". These people truly must have never played an actual competitive game.

But anyway, that's the end of my post. I got the idea for it after seeing someone on the Steam discussions say that Dead by Daylight's community wasn't toxic, and I realized that it's true! If anything, the only "toxic" behaviors in this game are D/Cs and early hook suicides. If you read all of this, thanks for reading and I hope it brings understanding as to the difference between real toxicity and DbD's "toxicity"!

    TL:DR

Dead by Daylight's "toxicity" is not real toxicity, and is merely bad behavior. While Dead by Daylight is a competitive game, it is far more casual than other competitive games and losses don't matter nearly as much. Teammates on other competitive games like CS:GO, League of Legends and Rainbow Six: Siege are able to ruin your games far worse than DbD players can.

Dude, almost nothing you mentioned here was anymore toxic than what happens in DBD, especially on console. You will get the same words, the same #########, the same TorreNted harrasment (in fact probably more because steam and the like are better able to handle bans) and the same outside and inside behavior.

Sexual harrasment, racial slurs, threats if violence- I'm pretty sure someone even has gotten doxxed

The worst of it is those games you have actually have a functional competitive component. No one takes a DBD tourney that serious, its a niche, fairly casual game.. and in spite of that it rivals the games you mentioned with a much smaller community and a divide that basically creates derisiveness from the nature of the "roles" and your preference for either. At least in those communities, most folks can agree on certain things that need nerfing and what should receive balance changes. Good luck achieving that here.

They had changes planned for flashlights already in development, the m. Cote game had nothing to do with it.

"They also, once upon a time, said hillbilly was a time, strong killer and actually claimed him as a point of balance regarding killers at one point. They said if anything they would only do a add on pass"

I disagree with the Billy nerf but the game has changed significantly. He may have been balanced before but the game has changed.

Ok, but the double pallets? The reworks to infinites? Point is, the devs aren't omnipotent, and surely in there own game they make alot of assumptions and leave alot to be fixed. I think that reason they give is no where near a good enough reason to justify not adding VC. They reportedly didn't want SWF at first in the game, but made the concession eventually

That statement was made last year before the nerf to ruin, map changes, etc. While survivors saw nerfs to DS, unbreakable, and fast vault angles, I still don't think the maps changed so much he needed a long overheat mechanic, but I'm just a day 1 Billy main, who knows of I'm biased in that.

The very fact they changed their mind about Billy at all is testament to the fact they have the freedom to change their minds at will, I just wish they would do so on regards to VC.

It would, but something as subjective as skill caps in a video game should not be called objectively wrong. Sure, if someone says that they used a rope to climb back up the edge of the earth it's objectively wrong.

Well yeah, but that's not an opinion either, that scenario is either a lie or delusion.

I'm just playing devil's advocate btw, hope I don't come across as intentionally argumentative, I just like debating sometimes.

Ah so you really don't wanna listen to the exact ######### reasoning the devs have given on the topic of why comms aren't baseline?

    Okay.

Oh the devs know what's up, it took them almost two years and M. Cote getting embarrassed on stream to figure out that flashlights were OP and double pallets were a bad idea.

They also, once upon a time, said hillbilly was a time, strong killer and actually claimed him as a point of balance regarding killers at one point. They said if anything they would only do a add on pass, and that line aged like fine wine.

Okay you implied that when you said it. That's why there were quotation marks because I took it straight form your post.

The issue with voice chat in places with multiple languages is that not everyone will speak English, or whatever language. If you're in a lobby with an English person, a French person, a Spanish person, and an Austrian person chances are you're not all going to be able to understand each other.

Plus many people don't want to speak on voice comms. I've had friends who've taken months to speak to me over voice despite texting frequently because they've got anxiety.

There's going to be the obligatory trolls there too, not to mention how serious everyone gets.

Adding voice comms will not work. The devs need to buff solo information instead, then superbuff killers. That's literally all that needs to happen.

What? Stop with the logical fallacy for like 10 minutes dude. And lol at quoting me, quotes don't work if you don't use exactly what I've said, that's putting words in my mouth.... Which is weird because the part I was questioning is implying I said I don't want Solo's to work in game... That's literally the point of VC. Also, the best part about in game VC.. you don't have to speak to anyone else, you get the benefit of all the info without having to party up or fire up discord, and better yet you can PLAY SOLO and get better information, potentially.

And trolls? Is that even an issue at this point? Like I'm pretty sure the cream floats and crap sinks, so someone whose constantly trolling their own team will sink to lower ELO or whatever. Another not great argument.

Look, VC exists and there's no going back, and you can't give solo the type of info SWF can provide optimally without wallhacks. It's a pointless debate and endeavor, and just a straight dishonest one currently with the devs, which is why I originally got into this argument with you.

I used to think buffing solo was the way too, but he'll, how couldn't you make survivor SWF absolutely OP if you just straight buff survivors in general? Doesn't make alot of sense, right?

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

"This game SHOULD be balanced around VC now"

Once again can I interest you in the entire ######### continent of Europe?

Dude, this isn't a good point, you can drop it anytime. Language barrier does not stop games from having VC ever, and in pretty miserable ch every game that exists with it, the difference in play with vs. without it is observable.

You keep talking about the entire continent of Europe like other continents don't have pretty much the same issues. In America, we have our neighbors south of the border who have up to 448 different languages, our neighbors to the north, Canada, has at least 60 distinct dialects and languages itself. And as aforementioned, we sometimes get our games with Japan, which is likely for Americans one of the hardest languages to learn and no I don't know anything other than konoichiwa.

    It's not an excuse.

    There.

"Oh so balance around swf even if people aren't using comms" aight hope you don't want solo survivor to exist ever again

What? When did I imply that? You can balance the game around the use of comms because there will be an in game, proximity based VC in a perfect world. Again, you repost a point that has no bearing on reality. So what if Europe has alot of different languages? I literally played games with Germans on VC in this game and we did fine.

I don't even know why you would in good faith argue this point, it's not like we have 30an lobbies and you'll hear a bunch of synchronized squeeking, and at worst with proximity based chat, you won't even hear the other survivors for most of the game unless you're huddled up.

I was responding to someone saying that Bhvr only care about money. They'll do what's in their best interests to keep the money coming in.

Hence why I said "it's almost like Bhvr are a company :0" because that's exactly what companies do.

I agree that companies will do what they will do, what I don't agree with is not holding the companies accountable for mistakes or things they shouldn't do. This game SHOULD be balanced around VC now, as it would make the game much fairer. They take all these measures to nerf things around game mechanics to preserve a sense of balance, but literally one of the things tiliting the scales the most is the difference between vocal information for many.

The issue here is that Europe exists. I live in England and can speak a small amount of German (I can badly say "I've done the gen" or "I want to be healed") but throw me in with someone speaking French and I've lost it. There are, if I remember my school assemblies correctly, over 200 variations of languages spoken in Europe (including the differences between German German, Austrian German, and Swiss German, to use them as an example). Not everyone can speak English and balancing around comms when all I can hear is Russian being screamed in my ear won't work.

How is that a problem that is solved by no VC support? That is literally a personal problem. Plenty of high stakes games exist with VC, it's really not an issue in those so I don't get this point.

  • Yea, and companies aren't at all responsible for their product once the money starts rolling. Just ask Disney!

  • You might as well delete the thread, man. Although I and anyone with good sense and empathy would agree that the scenario you're speaking of is annoying and unnecessarily bad mannered, most of the survivor players here are lacking in that..

I mean, how much self awareness does it take to at least admit "ok, that's kind of a dick move to intentionally stay at the gate to teabag and flashlight at the gate...

Unfortunately, for alot of survivor only players, that's the most expression of skill they get to display, so it's very hard for them not to justify it by any means (be it move the goalpost "Oh I stay to make sure everyone leaves", association fallacy "camping and tunneling = BMing at endgame because RULEBOOK" or implicit compliance "Hey, I do that all the time and I'm not an #########, so you must be the #########")

There are legitimate reasons to stay behind at times... Really only two tbh, when someone is on hook or an injured survivor is in chase by EGC, it makes sense to make sure they get out.

But by this same coin, how many survivors now a days open the exit gates BEFORE they are fairly sure everyone is safe? They 99 the gate to avoid BW, most survivors now a days do this.

In the end, you can pretty much always expect it to happen. They will sit there until the very end of the clock, literally waiting for the teabag and leave before you can even get a hit point. If you're a range killer they'll try to play around your shot, knowing you can't get to them in time anyway, and leave if you approach.

Nah that's weak and just prolongs the game. What are you guys scared your feelings will get hurt? Because that's the message you send. I always show up and escort them out when that happens. Just play along and give them that close escape from the monster they so desperately crave. Who knows, you may even end up bagging one. So now that person creates an opinion based on this wrong information ("we should steal the moon cheese so we can use it to barter with Winnie the pooh for the safe release of the Uyghur Muslim community!")

Wouldn't that opinion, by default, be an incorrect one?

The point was trying to make was that when I call a pinnacle of horror is that its memorable, this something peoples heard about, that's what I mean when I call it a Pinnacle of horror, I am sorry if I said it in a way you don't agree with, or made you cringe, I just think Fnaf was a very huge and memorable point in the horror genre it created something that hasn't truly been seen before in horror in which we as kids back then absolutely adored like Chuckee cheese, when I first saw played it I just felt uncomfortable to be around people in mascots, or let alone Chuckee cheese, anyway if it makes you feel better one franchise that is a huge deal in horror genre was Outlast but I'll cover that in another topic

See, this is a problem with perspective and that's fine. I now understand what you were trying to say, but calling something a pinnacle implies it is the shining example of the genre. And for seasoned fans of horror, it just isn't, but again this is perspective based.

The best way I could put it is the Shinning effect... Anyone who watched that movie back when it came out, and even probably up to a decade or so later considered it one of the greatest horror films ever. As a child I was often horrified by even tomb raider and games of the such, but my biggest game back then, and the game that literally started my fascination with horror, was a little known game made by a fairly big developer at the time, Shivers.

If you looked up a walkthrough of that game now, you would probably laugh, but that ######### was the scariest game in the world to my 5-8 year old self. A few years latter as I get more and more into watching horror movies, playing games like phantasmagoria and resident evil/silent hill, I was told by my mom I need to see this older movie called the Shinning, as it was "the scariest movie ever"

So we went to Hollywood videos, picked up the movie and I think I also rented DMC, not sure.. anyway, I eagerly tool the video to the bedroom where I could watch it with my brother and get terrified while preparing him for the torment I would unleash on him from this new material (as brothers do) and it... Just seemed SOOooo boring.

Like it felt like nothing was happening for the whole first hour really, and I was a kid, so you can imagine I expected some more consistent action, but the typewriter scenes just didn't click, the twins in the hall thing fell super flat for me because it was such a cliche at this point from my perspective, and basically nothing felt as explosive as I thought it should at the time.

Now of course, over time you realize what the story was going for, why it was supposed to be scary, etc as well as the context of was made in that can't really be duplicated. Horror fans were way to jaded to go back to that, and horror video games didn't really exist when it was made, so of course I would be pretty desensitized. Also, this applied to the exorcist as well.

And now I think you can see where I'm going with this.. FnAF was your "Shivers". It was a horror game that introduced you to the concept with a bang. It's funny, because I'm alot of ways , Shivers is very similar to FnaF, except it's in a museum setting and the spirits posses random items made from specific elements, rather than animatronics. And even as cheesy as it seems looking back (and it was even then considered decidedly cheesy, for some good reason) it still holds a special place in my heart. I even revisit the game Evey few years just for the hell of it, although I see that becoming increasingly difficult over time.

Edit; sorry for long post, if you need a TlDr let me know

The amount of toxicity from killers is higher then survivors on the forums. In the in-game chat, you probably think survivors are more toxic because there are 4 survivors and 1 killer in each match so when speaking to them, the killer would often feel outnumbered.

Nice strawmen, I've gotten toxic messages from 100's of survivors, but I rarely get them in tandem from the same group... This is wide spread, and I can tell you from the days I played major SWF all the time in this game- Survivors are WAAAAAAY more toxic in general.

And not to only the killer, to their own teammates. I've seen survivors sexually harass my female friend who played, so much casual racism, people who added me as a survivor, we we're friends (inspite of their Toxicity) and then would catch me in a killer game, playing normal and somewhat friendly only to be teabagged, sent a VOICE MESSAGE about how trash I am and that I play like a #########, etc etc. When I was trying to go easy....

Dude, cut the bullshit. You probably haven't even been here that long, I literally have two years worth of nothing BUT Toxicity from survivors in my inbox, and even my survivor friends have the same. The killer will maybe message one survivor or post in endgame chat, which doesn't even exist on PS4 anyway and can be turned of on PC. This is the gaslighting bullshit survivors do in forum, then have the nerve to call killers toxic.. I'm done.

Firstly man, you need to relax. You are getting way too argumentative over a simple conversation. We can talk or disagree without being combative.

"That's your experience, you're not even 1% of the playerbase."

I quite literally said that was my experience, yes. I also never said I was more than 1% of the player base, you completely interpreted me as saying more than I did my statement.

"You can't claim killers are most of the time angels, when that's just not true, both sides have the same level of toxicity, you can't claim survivors/killer are more toxic, cause that's a flat out lie."

I can claim that as my experience as it is literally just that, my experience. You are interpreting me as saying all killers are non toxic which is not what I said even remotely. All I have said is that in my experience that is generally the case, that's it. Those things are not synonymous

"And I dont know ######### you're talking about, "Bias is disproportionate weight in favor of or against an idea or thing, usually in a way that is closed-minded, prejudicial, or unfair."

You can play both sides, but I know a lot of streamers/gamers that play both sides, yet they still favor they're favorite side cause they're

    B I A S E D."

You literally posted the definition and didn't read it carefully for what it said. "Closed-minded, prejudicial, or unfair" That implies a one sided view point with a lack of objectivity and literally treating one side unfairly. None of which are accurate to what I have said thus far.

As I said, not what bias actually means in the way you are using it. You are misinterpreting the definition you posted.

"Btw when you have any proof that you play both sides, we can discuss that."

    here you go.

    https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198018661768/

I can also stream it if you'd like.

"I can agree with you on that, OP should post the entire game, but saying most killers are angels is just a biased statement."

Because "but saying most killers are angels is just a biased statement" Is not actually what I said at all, it is what you interpreted me as saying.

Holly #########, I thought I was the only Hunk in this community, now I don't feel so alone anymore

You can have a bias while still playing both sides. In my observations of your posts I would say you definitely have a killer bias. Or at least a killer leaning to your views. Which is not to say your positions are unfair. I actually feel they're usually pretty reasonable. But your views are definitely seen from a killer colored lens.

Not that I'm really any better about it. I play both sides. But I certainly see things more from a survivors view point. As much as I try my own bias will always creep in.

Hey, I agree with this idea! It's like racism, we all say we see each other as equal, but only one race can be "Top race" in the back of our minds, and we all think like that!

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1473919#Comment_1473919

If you view my opinions as generally fair then that already doesn't make them bias by definition. Bias by definition would include an "unfair" treatment.

"But once people come to conclusions about something, they rarely have their minds changed."

If I was presented with data and evidence to suggest otherwise I would gladly change my opinion.

"But will probably always see things with a killer slant."

From a killer slant implies unfair preference to one side, of which I do not think I have. Killer slant the way you are saying it would mean that irregardless of data, evidence or anything I would give preferential treatment to one side which is not the case.

Whatever the data, evidence and experience shows needs buffs or nerfs is what I want, I could care less which side it is. All I care about is objective information. I do not view that stance as bias or as a killer slant. It just so happens that in this one case, killers need some help.

I also happen to think a lot of survivor perks need buffs. That isn't because of a bias, it's because there are a lot of survivor perks that are objectively weak.

This, my friend, seems to be a simple case of "Believe her!"

Hey guys its Dabih and I wanted to talk about a subject I wanted to talk about but didn't have the courage to mostly because of what this subject is. And that is Springtrap being in DBD, I know how controversial this is, and how many people hate the idea. But this is something I wanted to get off my shoulders and talk about. So to begin why I think he would be a great addition is because he is a memorable and iconic character in the horror genre, and the Fnaf game is a very memorable, popular, and important pinnacle of the horror franchise. And the fact that the game is painted to some as a kids game is kinda sad to me, the thing is that Fnaf is considered this because of its audience. When it came out it was never intended to be for a younger audience but during the time it was released it was difficult to control what you could watch on Youtube and I think you know the rest of the story. But by then the damage was done and Scott Cawthon couldn't really do anything( meaning: make it more graphic and violent, or swearing/ basically anything to make the game rated M) about it when a great majority of fans of the game were young

I say Fnaf is a pinnacle of horror for its jump scares, all of those who played the original 4 know what I'm talking about there was a level of fear that was within Fnaf that made it very uncomfortable to play, it was just the tone it had. I think it was a smart to create something that we usually would love and make it into something terrifying works greatly and at times you felt utterly helpless also that heightened the fear within the games. The Jumpscares are terrifying for the fact it was right in front in your face made it all the more scary and were unsuspecting. I think the franchise has made its mark in the history of horror.

Now here is a personal level for me why I would love to see Spring trap in the game. When I was growing up in school i would here people talk about a game called Five Nights at Freddys, I was curious and looked it up and to my surprise it was popular seriously back then if you looked up fnaf you would see tons of youtube videos with theories and gameplay, I mean this was the crave back then and still is today(to some degree). A group in my school who were big fans of the franchise had a little get together at times, I was social outcast and me being a fan of the game and actually connecting with people that enjoyed what I enjoyed made me feel accepted. I joined the group and I became happier and more self esteem, we had many great discussions sharing our experiences of the game, they were fun. Overtime I felt better about myself and I didn't consider myself an outcast anymore, in a way FNAF has changed my life for the long run. Even when it became more kid friendly at times I reminded myself this is a game I will stick with for a long long time, because it really was a dark and twisted series. After a while my love for the franchise died slightly, and this when I got into dbd and when I heard someone started a petition to get Springtrap in the game I was down for it immediately. I really want this to be in the game because fnaf was the first ever horror series I actually got into, I mean this was my childhood, this game made me into a huge fan of horror and introduced me to a genre I truly love, and I thank the game for that, it would make me and some other people happy to see the game that cemented my love for horror in general into dbd, and honestly I think if it were ever to come to the game it will show what Fnaf could've been, a darker more gruesome tone than what was given. Thank you that is all I have to say and I know I'm digging my grave but that's okay, I'm willing to admit that I am someone who supports this.

Dude, you literally call FnaF the "pinnacle of horror" and for jump scares no less...

I'm not even going to shot on the idea, been there done it, but you cannot possibly believe that can you? You literally disrespect almost every horror themed director, writer, and game designer ever with a statement like that, and from that point on I believe you lost just about anyone with good taste. So I just wanted to point that out, I feel a bit sympathetic towards your desire even if I don't think it's a good idea at all, bit saying things like that will just turn folks against you, especially in a horror themed games forum... With ties to SH of all properties.

  • @Toybasher said:

Because devs hate synergy I guess.

I sort of understand why but at the same time, if a perk is REALLY good on certain killers (STBFL on Legion) it seems stupid to change it unless it's gamebreaking. I'd rather have perks that are meh but really good on one or two killers than a perk that is just meh all around.

Watch them nerf Iron Maiden to no longer speed up reloading hatchets.

They literally can't, even though the design philosophy stands in the face of it's existence... Isn't the whole reason Tinkerer got changed is because it was good on certain killers (maybe a small stretch..) while having zero function on others?

But then they make a perk that's really ONLY useful with huntress, and then not really because for 1 she's slow, what is she going to do with information that someone is in a closet half accross the map? Unless it trapped survivors in it for some time, somewhat like a real iron maiden, that function is useless to her. On the other hand, reloading at lockers faster isn't a worthwhile benefit for her, it's not exactly fast enough to yank em out mid chase (which might actually have made it good, at least specifically on her..)

Honestly I preferred alot of their old-west style perks. Miss DS only applying to obsession mechanic, I kind of miss old ruin in the fact that there were a few more "breather" games where I could play consistently, allow a fair amount of back n fourth reliably im regards to hooking order, rather than pretty much "every opportunity given to take someone out must be met with extreme prejudice!" Hell, I even kind of wish Tinkerer had it's old functionality right now, especially with all the cooldown mechanics that are now in game!

I suck at chases a often, but I've seen it done (thank you Kindred) and I've made efforts to do it myself with another teammate who was stronger. It works. If you're going to DC anyway - at least let people try.

I think my only thing with camping is when it's done on every hook. It makes it really hard to get any real points. :-( I might change my mind as I improve though. Who knows. :-)

I experienced yet another DC'er last night in game - and this one broke my heart for the killer. They did nothing wrong. They played well and were very fair. Two of us were left at the end and my teammate leaves me hanging on a hook to look for the hatch *cries in her cereal at the memory of abandonment* but anyway... EGC starts. She's being very good and sneaky, gets the gate nearly open - killer comes back and wacks her down.

    DC's.

I was like Wthelk wow, why? I apologized to the killer on behalf of the idiots and let them know they played well. That wasn't fair at all to them - and right at EGC - are you kidding me? Killer still got their points, the only loser their was the teammate.

Lol yes sir, that's not a surprising scenario. Honestly I feel worse for you guys in that situation, by EGC that killer probably maxxed what he could receive in points from that guy anyway, but he left you guys a man short.

The thing is there are a host of players here that defend DC at all cost. They feel justified in not having to go against what ever killer they don't like or certain add ons (mention DC's and Huntress iri heads I'm the same thread, works everytime) and killers dc'ing because they can't tackle looping (Although sometimes when I see a huntress around a tight loop and some ######### running around it 15 times, just to repeat at the next loop 10 feet away for all the gens, I fell bad.... Especially if the survivor was me) or flashlights. Camping is just another excuse for the type of people who don't want to get better at the game.

This game DEFINITELY has a lot of frustrating scenarios and I don't know how long you've been playing, but at some point it does get to us all to a degree. You are coming into it with a great mindset, tho! You seem like the type of person who actually wants to improve instead of complain or ruin others game by being selfish. I think you'll learn looping just fine. If you play on PS4, I could help you learn as well

    Exactly.

This should five people a perspective. I have all the DLC's.

Playing about 8 weeks. Keep in mind I work and am on call on my off days /time often.

My characters: 7 are at 50 - three of those P1, 4 are at 40+ and the remainder at at least 20. Only 1 is at level 5.

How's that for crazy leveling. I think too I have two killers at 5 .

Btw for this that you said "You sneak to a generator and bam end up on a hook 2 minutes into the fame. Of COURSE people are going to get raged."

You are being generous - it's usually 30 seconds in, sometimes 45. So I can see why someone would DC - but my thing is - as someone's teammate - please give me a chase to come get you before you decide to DC. I'm actually not to shabby at unhooking and I rarely let anyone hang for too long. Camping makes it harder, but with two us us - we can distract and get you. Give us a chance. That is what I'd like to say to DC'ers.

This guy gets it. I've said all along the only reason camping is so strong is people do not know how to approach unhooks. Good survivors do it all the time.

Even if you don't tunnel at all a deliverance ds play would be impossible to pull off if he was atleast hooked once. Ds and deliverance and such are like perks that reward a survivor for stalling out their use since they are meh early but really good late. It's not as bs as ds unbreakable but still and also hooking someone twice isn't always tunnel either a lot of survivors just unhook for points and then just run away, like buddy i don't wanna hook you again but ur friends screwed you hard by baiting me to you again.

No I get that, . But this is a scenario where I had already two hooked everyone else, he was the immersed survivor so I didn't get to him until late/endgame.
