As survivor, me and my usual rank 1 SWF got sent back to respective ranks, being me the first one: 13, 11, 13, 15. I repeat, all of us were Rank 1, maybe one of us a rank 2... HOW DO YOU THINK KILLERS ARE DOING AGAINST US...?
As killer, I got sent from Rank 1 to rank 14... How do you think survivors are doing against me...?
I mean, I know it is getting fixed, but in the meanwhyle, ranking up is a piece of cake and doesn't give us a challenge, I'v even got to do 6 adept achievments for killers I thought I'd never be able to get...
This is only an issue if you decided to wait 3 days to play. Which it sounds like you did. Because EVERYONE was sent back. So those Rank 14's are actually Rank 5's, etc.

Because having afk killers or suiciding survivors in half the games is a lot better and really healthy for the game right?
No, but if you can't make it through a 7 minute game without DC'ing then perhaps Fortnite is missing your attention.

You don’t play killer. It’s clear.
The hook sabo’ing is going to break this game for a while. Mark my words. They will change this in the first two weeks of release.
They are making it so it’s IMPOSSIBLE for a SWF to lose.
pallets can save player mistake.
Dead hard save player mistake.
flashlight save
breakout save
DS save
unbreakable save
now fast sabo save
AND they keep their items always now if they escape and get to keep it even if they use it all.
You don’t play killer and don’t understand how this game works.

I can be wrong here, but far as I have understand it:
-Will toolboxes be faster for a short amount of time.
-They will however not so long be usefull as the current toolboxes.
Sounds for me like a killer buff in the most situations.
You’re right. They said the total amount repaired was also dramatically reduced. If the total amount repaired stayed the same relatively i think it could have been an issue. But it’s not.

Devs said that camping and tunneling are not reportable and they will accept that strategy BUT what with survivors side?
Killers now camping and tunneling cause in their opinion that is answer for ruin changes and we can't counter them as well cause nothing is counter camping and tunnel.
- For killers devs changed Borrowed Time, now if killer just follow you, he hit you second time and you are down.
- For killers devs changed Decisive Strike so now they just tunnel, hit you and wait for your DS is gone. Still camping you.
- For killers devs changed Styptic Agent and Anti-Haemorrhagic Syringe so you can't quick react for tunnel or help someone to get up.
Only one Ruin devs changed for survivors side to make them better situation about skill checks and Killers just make a strategy what is just RUIN any survivor points. Even if you are altruistic and you want to help someone who is camped, you get punishment with minus points about not-safe unhook.
For me Devs just don't know what they want... They said that survivors role is helping each other, survivors should play together - but in game if you are not with 3 friends and you are just playing solo or with 1-2 friends your game will be terrible and you have really small chance to make a pip (forget about 2 pips). - please remember that I am talking about altruistic styleplay - of course you can make points when you play selfish, but Devs said that survivors shouldn't be selfish...
And I said that before you ask - no, I am not low rank survivor, I am long time 1 rank survivor who always was going back for random player, and always game was giving me points for that, now I am punished about that and I don't get it... I really don't get it, what is survivor role now? Leaving others and making points on that what you can? Gens, totems, chests, gates? Never risk for other player? This is not cooperation with survivors, this is a war, contest 'Who make more points quickly' so everybody just ######### on that one survivor who is hooked and they just rush gens, clean totems, looking for chests cause that giving them safe points without risk that they will be that one on hook... But where is that going? To campers and tunnelers as 1 rank killer mains and selfish bastards 1 rank survivors who never help you cause points are more important?... On high rank now is 70% to meet someone selfish, 20% to meet someone who just co-op with killer as a survivor to make points and he just giving killer information where are others and only 10% to meet someone who really play like a team. IT'S TERRIBLE! If this game is changing in that way... Sad...
I can’t believe this is a thing. Killers are incredibly weak at the moment and people like you still find a way to complain?

Thats fine. The most dangerous Toolbox is/was the Commodious Toolbox anyway, because it had so many Charges. So less Charges but faster will make them a lot weaker.
That doesn’t really make any sense considering the idea is to push people off gens. Them being done quicker is going to back fire.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/130038/5-minutes-is-to-much
I feel like the first couple of DCs should be quick while excessive DCing are more punishing.
Here's what I'd with the DC penalties
- DC: Warning, get a message about the consequences of DCing.
- DC: 1 Minute
- DC: 5 Minutes
- DC: 15 Minutes
- DC: 30 Minutes
- DC: 60 Minutes
- DC: 2 Hours
- DC: 4 Hours
- DC: 8 Hours
- DC: DC Ban
Escalation will reset after two conditions:
- Play 5 full games (either side) without leaving early.
- 24 hours have passed since the last DC.
No. This will never work. They need a system that persuaded people to never DC, not game the system so they only get warnings or banned for a short amount of time. Honestly, the first DC needs to be 30 minutes.
it appears the DC ban is working slightly. All the people pissed off about it are the ones DCing.
-
@DwightOP said:
Imo the 5 minutes penalty on 1st DC is set to high. It should be more like 1-2 minutes.
5 minutes is too short. The first DC should be 30 minutes. Loading crashes don’t count as a DC anymore. So... the excuses are running out.
-
@johnmwarner said:
Someone mentioned another game does this, and I thought it sounded interesting.
Remove rank showing, but instead above someone’s name show the number of times they have DC in the past 24 hours, week, whatever you feel is appropriate.
As a survivor if I see one of my teammates has 9 DCs today then I’m going to assume they are either a baby who quits as soon as they are downed or playing on McDonalds WiFi and will most like drop mid game... then I can decide to find another lobby if I wish.
If you only have a 1-2 above your name then sure, I can assume maybe you crashed legit or had a super toxic killer and I’ll come along.
Wait. Did you just justify DCing with a “super toxic killer.” You do realize that all rage quits are because of “super toxic killers” or translated as “I couldn’t bully this killer and they downed me so I’ll DC.”
And 2 DCs in a DAY is acceptable? How about we show how many DCs they have in a month and if it’s anything above 2 it’s a problem.

Actually vast majority of post is killers whining about any possible noed nerf and survivors are just responding to it.
Thats clearly untrue. I checked front page yesterday and out of the top 15 posts, 5 of them were from survivors complaining about NOED. The easiest to counter thing in the game. You can pretty much predict when the killer has it.
-
@sebbo94 said:
You don't know if the killer has NOED until he has attacked somebody.
This is going against the design principle of hexes as the developers mentioned they want survivors to know if they are cursed when it comes in effect.
Let's compare some hexes
Hex: Huntress Lullaby: Immediately gives survivors curse information once they hit a skill check (which should only activated after at least one hook IMO)
Hex: Haunted ground: Survivors are exposed, they immediately see that they are cursed.
Hex: NOED: Survivors are exposed, they only get the information when someone is hit.
This is inconsistent information for survivors IMO, which makes NOED frustrating to play against.
If the killer didn’t kill anyone and you did all 5 gens expect noed. Problem solved. Or just cleanse all the totems. What in Heavens yellow Rank are all the posts about NOED coming from.

DCs are a part of any online game . we havent had them since 2016 we dont need them now. its just silly. if you want to DC you paid for the game do what you like. if you want out of that match and want to go to a new one that is your right. you should not be penalized.
No. If you want to play a solo player game where your rage doesn’t affect others then that’s your right. But ruining the experience of 4 other people is not your right.

Why should someone have to sit on the naughty step for 5 minutes just because the developers are unable to create a stable game?
Wait until you’re stuck in a pallet unable to move or caught in a basement bug unable to see.
Players should not be punished for developer incompetence.
Well, not it means you'll wait to die or keep working to get unstuck instead of DC'ing.

If that is the case and you know there is no hope of getting out since hatch is closed, no key, and two gates are next to each other the go to the basement and get another 1k points in boldness.
Beats crouching around for nothing
I have left 75% of the time the hatch is closed on me. This is such a ridiculous argument. You know the hatch will be closed so run to the exit gate near it. Most of the time the killer will run to the far away exit, even if it's next to the other one, and won't have time to stop you from leaving.

@InnCognito said:
You know the reason why Rage quits are a thing? IT is because this game's lack of solid counterplay. Players are frustrated and just BAIL.
1 ) Calm spirit and Spies from the shadows was a good mix.- So that is the only positive there.
2 ) BBQ and Distortion with 3 ticks. NOT a good mix. - Killers will disagree on this one. ;)
3 ) End game Collapse. Player is not going to find the hatch quick enough and the exit gates ALWAYS spawn next to one another. The thing has 3 giant industrial grade red lamps that burn VERY bright and are seen quite a ways off. ALong with a hockey-Rink buzzer that ANNOUNCES the efforts made on the gate. Yeah...
4 ) Slugged survivors. Great. we are supposed to sit around in the dirt and have NO way of getting up. The killer gets to slug us. Not hook us and walk away for a BIO or to surf the interweb. So if they do that. You gonna ban killers for "holding the game hostage?" NO. Probably no. and the response of bringing a Bill perk because its meta now.. Yeah that isn't going to hold up.
Before you all start punishing Disconnects. Why dont you ask people why they DC or pull on the hook in the first place. Its not about bad sportsmanship, toxic or salty behavior. Its about players that are fedup with counterplay going away. If that is the case. We are better off yanking on the hook and moving on to the next match. Sorry.
This is quite simple. They DC because they don't have a firm grasp over their emotions. These games are not long at all. If you can't handle a 7 minute game not going 100% your way, it might be time to go back to Fortnite.
-
@Nurgling7 said:
How is such a short initial penalty a problem?
It's not an issue. They just want to prep their DC excuses ahead of time. I have NEVER had to DC in this game in the months I've been playing it, every day. Not a single time.
-
@InnCognito said:
Did you EVER bother to ask players why they dropped out of matches in the first place?
I would have done a survey on that specific reason. Look, we all know that rage quits get real old. Especially when people bail on matches. you NEVER had that problem until the start of 2019.(March 2019) Go back and look at patch notes, as well as streamers. To see the changes when your servers suddenly saw an increase of disconnects. Check the last 30 seconds that lead up to that point before the player LEFT and consider THAT your "burden of proof".
EXAMPLE, EXAMPLE: Just like a person that would pull security tapes from a shoplifting or THEFT incident. Look at what happened prior to the last 30 seconds before the person STOLE the item and see how they did it. Yes, the act of stealing is WRONG. But instead, find out HOW they did it. So you can prevent it. Just like any grocery store or retail store. I worked in one. The major flaw was. They NEVER put security tag sensors infront of the restrooms. People walked the item right into the restroom, tucked it in their COAT and left.
I've already put my opinion here, MANY times. As to the "Why" players stop trying, give up on the match or they chose to close the program out. I know everyone here thinks this is bad behavior. But again. it is a sign of customer DISSATISFACTION. I'd like to SEE the game continue going and if customers are UNHAPPY, it means that the fate of the game could be sealed VERY quickly. We all know how bad H1Z1 crashed hard. Is it so much to ask that I not be considered a BAD PERSON. for encouraging the health of the community to be helped. Not hurt?
Lastly. I would stand on the fact that UNREAL ENGINE. is NOT a reliable, mainstream ENGINE. it is a tool designed to get STARTUP projects and companies off the ground. So we have VIDEO games. The engine HARDLOCKS 3-5 times a DAY in a 6 hour gaming session.And I am on a Koolance system that keeps everything nice n chill.
Even with "l33t hardware" and some decent investments in WIRED internet. I cannot say for the life of me. That reliability is even in the most expensive CONSUMER gaming hardware. These gamers aren't going to be RUNNING ECC RAM, BONDED internet, RAID 10 or 50 arrays for storage. LET ALONE double-failover redundantly paired hot-pluggable CPUs (yes, on PROLIANT machines, this exists). to keep the machine going. Heaven forbid, people are playing WIFI on a college campus which CRASHES constantly, or at a WiFi hotspot. Those go down constantly.
-----
Anyway.. I am SORRY if I sound like a big-talk bully here. But I've been in the startup business of hosting games and I just dont want to have to sit down at MINECRAFT waiting for another hot title to come out that people gravitate towards. Due to this one losing popularity. Yes, I say that because Q times for "Dah killer" are concerning. Again. Apologies.
Uh, they DC because they didn't get what they wanted and their only way out is to rage quit and punish everyone else. The reason's why don't matter. It's a 5-10 minute game. There is nothing that can happen outside of a bug which prevents the game from ending, to warrant a DC.
It appears the penalty might be doing it's job if all these people are trying to passively defend DC'ing.
If you are on crappy WiFi that disconnects all the time, this is not the game you should be playing.
I have ran DbD on 6 different machines ranging from top of the line, to a crappy $400 laptop. It runs just fine. The only issues I have are the occasional client crash, and I mean occasional. As in once every two weeks.
-
@hex_genrush said:
I could see why they are adding a dc penalty system because disconnects are getting worse and worse but let’s ask “ why do they dc “ well here are a few reasons bugs , bad teammates, BM , not having fun, and really dcing because they want to get out of that match. There’s a leave button for a reason, if dcs were really issue then they could remove the leave match icon and instead force players to pull the plug and wait the loading screen and boot up process.
People get upset they didn't get what they wanted. They're not DC'ing constantly over bugs. Who gets to define what a 'bad teammate' is. You're a bad teammate if you DC. These games last maybe 6-10 minutes most. If you cannot handle 3 other people doing exactly what you want during that time, perhaps this isn't the game to be playing.
DC'ing will eventually destroy this game.

@KingOfBadRNG said:
The most frustrating thing in the game as a solo que survivor is when you get paired with a survivor who does nothing all game.
So I propose a new idea (probably wont ever come to light) the afk crow rework instead of staying in a locker or standing for a long period of time. A crows will instantly spawn when a survivor who hasn't done a objective for 180 seconds notifying the killer of their position.
The timer will reset if a survivor do gens (even if its taped), sabotage, getting chase, running for 10 second, saving a survivor, and cleansing a totem. The crow itseld will restet after 20 seconds of doing one of these objectives.
Maybe the timer could slow if the survivor within the killer terror radius and within a hook survivor radius.
What do you think?
I think you should get out of yellow ranks before proposing things that would hurt others instead of help them.

I suggest everyone facing the same frustrating and broken matchmaking do the same.
I've been against red rank survivors since Rank 12 mate. And I've slowly climbed. It truly is a matter of getting better, but the journey there is stressful and most of the time un-fun. And when i played Killer i had a SWF last second switch to toolboxes and bring a Strode Key.

I've had my fair share of games done in under 5 minutes by survivors rushing the gens optimally but this is just on a whole new level, 4 gens done in about 3 mins exact and Tru3 only engaged in about 2 chases which ended pretty quick up until the point when the fourth popped.The devs always say they want the game to be fun for both sides but the recent patches that have been going through prove otherwise and the lack of bug fixes on the killer side, it seems to me that BHVR doesn't care enough about their killer player base to even mention all the issues that have been present since these patches went through starting from the Cursed Legacy DLC that introduced the sound bugs.
You picked a game where 4 gens were done in 3 minutes and he still ends up getting a 4k as your proof there is a problem?

he meants that obssession doesnt care about dying light because they just need to gen speed themselves and they can feel pretty safe because in early killer dont rly wanna target them cuz he wants gain stacks but in late game if he stack enough there is atleast like 1 person dead if it has lot of stacks and if he chase 2nd person dying light has no use since only obssesion work on gen , this perks is higly overrated only because dying light + thano combo
They shouldn’t feel safe. Slug them. Then they can’t heal or do gens. Someone else has to go for them at that point. The idea that slugging isn’t a strategy is strange considering there are slug perks.
run Knock Out, Dying Light and Thanaphobia and it would slow the game greatly.

Slightly off topic but I really think thrilling tremors would be an amazing perk if it just blocked ALL the gens. As it stands it just tells you which ones they aren't working on. It has a pretty long cd so I dont think it would be OP but every killer might run it. Thus leading to a nerf :P
You do realize tremors does more than that right? It actually stops them from working on a new gen as well. It gives you enough time to hook someone and then find another chase, something BBQ won’t do.
As I’m watching extremely high rank players create builds post Ruin nerf, bbq is rarely used.

Not even the game is good at that, i'm sorry but i'm not leaving this hook's side if all 2-3 of the remaining survivors are just darting in and out around it trying to save while i'm still trying to walk away.
It's not camping. It's common sense. I'm not going to walk to another area of the map that I know doesn't have any survivors.
I’m not sure what you’re suggesting. If that’s happening the game doesn’t deduct points for being near the survivor. It won’t deduct points of survivors are near by. So I feel like what I said stills stands. The game will tell you if you hung around the hook too long.

However the way this community acts in game is as if that's how they want things to be. Like bubbas chainsaw rev that grants loads of camping, or spirit still being able to go half way across the map every 20 seconds. Now I have to abandon people and deal with NOED every single game too, I can't get every totem every round don't give me that bs I get 2-3 myself it takes up time.

But that just punishes players who have a poor connection and also what do you do if someone's connection is slightly unstable and they drop a packet every now and then? Their ping shoots up to 150-200 but only for about 1-2 seconds. Do they get kicked too? It's not a simple problem to solve.
Players that have horrible ping should be "punished" in some way. My understanding is that they are grouped together and don't typically get matched with people who have good pings.
AND this game already kicks you if a packet is dropped. This game has ZERO reconnection / retry logic in it. It just drops the connection and goes "######### you." This has happened to me 10 times since the 3.5.0 patch and I have great internet.
-
As with all Hex Perks, it depends on how well you can protect it. And that's the problem here. Whether you win is almost up to RNG at that point. The totem only needs 3 hooks for you to be able to one hit down someone. That is quite powerful. But alas, once they know about it, it's getting cleansed unless you're lucky enough to be able to 3 gen near your totem. Then it's an instant win for the killer.
That's what sucks about much of the game, it's completely random.

I shouldn't have to completely change whatever build I'm using just to use the meta perks to escape. The whole point of this game is to have fun and if I'm just stuck using a meta build to survive against a now somewhat overpowered killer, it's not fun.
I've been playing for months and old doctor wasnt as bad. I dread any game against doctor because it's so difficult to get out with my own build
Use whatever build you want, and stay out of his terror radius. If you're in it and cannot escape, then find a locker. Run Calm Spirit for a while until people's challenges are done.
I win 75% of my games against the new doctor in Red Ranks, all by playing "stay as far away from that heart beat as possible."

I totally agree that the beginning of the game is where more time is lost in finding a survivor or because of the type of ... killer we are playing in addition to the map sizes that don't help much. Scott's idea seems very interesting, since we include an idea of "End Game Collapse" but at the beginning, giving a special touch with different colors and adding debuff to the gens until a chase begins.
Devs .. since "always" you read our proposals, and the "keep in mind". do you think Scott's idea is good? Better than nothing is. i would to know.. what do u think about this?

I will add some devs /community managers I don't know if they will read or interest them, but I think this is worth seeing and that the design team has it in mind. @Peanits @Almo @Janick @McLean @PatBrutal @not_Queen
Thx.
If they aren't willing to do this, they should at least make Ruin always active. It would slow the game down and make it reasonable again.

Ruins fly. Games are quite short. And if gens are flying, I'll just tunnel and remove one person from the game quickly so I can end up with a 3k.

Did you even ask a question? I don't see how using a macro is really going to matter, as there is hysteresis on struggle. A macro can't make it go faster, so who cares.

Easy.. make GF a tier S killer by not allowing him to be revealed. :)

Wonder why... Almost seems like there is an direct relationship of some sort involved we just can't seem to acknowledge... What could it be... Devs, any ideas? 💡
I suspect it's because the ranks between Killers and Survivors don't match. I'm absolutely awful at Killer and I can win against Red and Purple teams. If they're SWF then there's no chance, of course. BUT, it is incredibly stressful to play killer at the moment, and I have to play ruthlessly which involves tunneling someone until they're out of the game.
