Any of the Bloodpoint Add-ons from any Killer.
Rickety Chain from Deathslinger, Kid's Drawing from Freddy, Padded Jaws from Trapper, Scarred Hand from Hag, White-Nit Comb from Nurse, and Vanity Mirror on Myers (at least Scratched Mirror has some use for Jumpscare builds)

Mate, you don't need people to use Heart Locket if you have luck as bad as mine.
No seriously, this is from my recent past 10 GAMES.
No one used the Heart Locket offering, I just got unlucky 5 out of 10 times in a row.

I feel like Survivor just needs more Bloodpoint gains in general, this one should be a good one to add because it encourages Hook Sabo saves.

The only two things i'd change about Freddy are:
- Remove the stackable Hinderance effect of his Snares. Atm they are braindead to use.
- Remove the slowdown add-ons altogether. No killer should have slowdowns as an add-on. Even status effects caused by add-ons are questionable too.
Also the amount of slowdown isn't really that much. At worst it only adds 9 seconds and that's assuming everyone is asleep and Freddy is using Swing Chains.

I live in a hotspot. Also they have reached 1 million players in one day, I'd say that's pretty mega and a lot of people seem to be playing. Not a huge company but definitely a huge fan base, so what you're insinuating is that dedicated servers are the problem. Do you not agree that more should be done to create a smoother game play considering the amount of people that put time and money into this game?
And more is being done, if you've watched the 4th Year Anniversary.
However, the core of it is, it's still your internet connection that is the issue here. Not the game itself.
Personally, I live in Western Australia (yet I get connected to Chinese servers). I have experienced my fair share of BS connections, but most of my games have been rather fine. That is of course, if my internet decides to cooperate and doesn't die randomly. In which case, I would know that it was my internet, and not the game. I have yet to be disconnected by the server however.

You thought you did something here, this makes no sense. Stop brown nosing the devs, they aren't gonna shag you. You've just literally confirmed that it's a problem DBD has itself.
Oh, I'm not blaming the game here. I'm just telling you the reason why you may have a more "smooth" experience on those other games is because they most likely have servers closer to you, because they're a large company.
BHVR isn't a large company, so they only place servers in hotspots where most players live. Meaning you need to connect to those servers. Meaning if your internet connection isn't good enough, you'll find yourself being Disconnected.
That's why I say it's your connection, not the game. If it was the game, the forums would constantly be filled with people complaining about being disconnected. And while yes, those threads do exist, they aren't as common as the Nerf Topic of the Week.

For Survivor, probably Unbreakable, Tenacity, Borrowed Time and Deliverance.
I know it sounds meta, but think of it this way. This is a build for avoiding the hook as much as possible, it doesn't really give me much help in chase and if I do get to use it is if the Killer slugs me in favour of chasing other survivors. Not to mention Deliverance is cursed to have you always be the first one to be chased by the Killer during a match.
For Killer, just on Hag though I don't consider this to be meta, just "evil".
Thrill of the Hunt, Ruin, Devour Hope, BBQ.
I just have loads of fun playing totem defense and Moriing Survivors when I finally get my 5th stack.

Pretty much... Game is in a pretty good spot, so I kinda have an eye roll at most of the things ppl claim to be unbalanced. Keys and moris I can agree are BS, but you cant tell me its impossible for a killer to apply pressure and that only like 3 killers are "viable". I'm a fan of playing alot of various killers, many of them being low or mid tiers (if you give any value to tierlists to begin with...) and many people THINK what they're doing is the obsolute best they couldve POSSIBLY done, no matter what that is, and them losing must be a sign of imbalance. The killer holding W and vaulting every window a survivor vaults without ever trying to mindgame or split pressure... That guy is very likely going to see his own gameplay as playing perfectly and doesnt know how he could POSSIBLY improve to avoid the obvious "genrush" he's experiencing.
I can agree, gen times could be pretty BS in the past with suped up toolboxes and such...but nowdays, you dont really have much room for complaints.
Yep, which is why whenever I screw up, I always tell myself I screwed up and how I screwed up. It's always good to be self-reflective especially if you're playing a game like this competitively, it can help you patch up your mistakes on future games.
It does get frustrating when one different move could've completely changed the course of the game though. Like that one time I forgot to use Pig's RBTs to stall the game. Could've gotten myself at least a 3k with the kind of Survivors I was facing.

absolutely incorrect, you're speaking for yourself and again it isn't my reality. My internet connection is fine, I play overwatch with no problems, I play GTA online, I play world of warcraft and guess what? They run smoothly. It's the game.
And those games are also backed by major companies who probably has servers in every single country because their playerbase is massive.
DBD isn't, but hey, that's still your internet connection and not the game itself.

Hex: Ruin.

I don't think anyone would be in favour of the change to Judith's Tombstone.
Since it allows Myers to also use increased stalking add-ons to get to Tier 3 immediately without sacrificing gens in the early game.
I honestly think that would be broken. Since you can just use perks like Play With Your Food to also patch up the decreased movement speed.

You cannot see any Killer who has the Undetectable Status Effect.
That includes Pig (Stealth Mode), Wraith (Cloaked), Myers (Tier 1), and Ghostface (Nightshroud).
You're still able to tell which direction the Killer is coming from when the perk lights up, but they also see your aura, so you have to be careful of that.

But NO killer is a "real" killer for these people. EVERY killer is easy mode with their OP broken mechanics... I know I've seen plenty of rants on these forums lately of "Doctor is a no skill killer"...
I remember plenty of ppl getting pissed off about DC punishments, not because of the game disconnecting them and then punishing them for it... but because they felt they should be able to DC against killers they felt was BS or unfun without a penalty and that if the devs want to do something about DCes, they should instead take out all those unfun things. Thing is...EVERYONE has at least 1 killer they dont like going against. Every killer in the roster is hated by at least 1 person for whatever reason. Youd leave the floodgates open to DCes on EVERY match.
I think people just don't want to admit they aren't as good as they think they are as a Survivor.
Now that the balance is more... Well... Balanced compared to how it was in 2017-2018, these players are seeing their advantages taken away from them and they think Killers get to play with "No-Skill" when that is far from the truth.

I've heard "boring" SO many times... I remember finishing up a match as Legion in under 10 minutes with a 4k 5 gens remaining. One of the survivors who just happened to be a streamer was talking about how the match was boring because I used slowdown perks instead of using an "interesting" build. I was left asking them how I could possibly make the build more "interesting". Typically killer perks fall under 3 catagories: Slowdown, tracking and chase. I had no problem finding survivors to initiate chases with, so I didnt really need to use more perks for tracking...and I was having no problem downing survivors in a timely fashion, so I didnt really need more chase perks either. She just said I should use BBQ or something rather than what I DID have on...because somehow that would be more "interesting" and less "boring".
But yeah... feels like "boring" just gets tied to ANY killer you play. I've heard it while playing Bubba and 4ks with only 1 gen done. A survivor said I should use a killer that takes skill. I've heard it as Spirit, in which a survivor pipped up that I have ears. I've heard it ALOT as Deathslinger. Apparently a survivor having the constantly paranoia about being shot at any moment during a chase translates to "boring". I think thats just a word people are plugging in when they dont wanna claim something is unfair.
Yep, just had this lovely message on my Steam profile after a game of Deathslinger that had this in it:
Some people just aren't mature enough for an M Rated game, I guess.

I play survivor more because I got this game for my husband and I. So, it made more sense for me to focus on the side where we could actually play together. And besides, I'm getting close now to being able to prestige one!
Good luck with that! Getting a single character to maxed out Prestige/Perks is going to be quite the BP Dump. I would know, I did the math on it.
@DelsKibara said:
We all know Dead by Daylight is known for it's Grind. It's what keeps us playing the game, it's what keeps us going through the same loops over and over again and it's why we love to play this game getting as much points as we possibly can for every single match. It's why farm games exists and why (some) people love it when they pop up because it gives them a chance to get a ton of guaranteed bloodpoints for everyone involved in the match.
With that said, I think The Massive Grind is going to become a real issue real soon. Especially with new players who are just joining the game and started playing.
I calculated the amount of Bloodpoints needed to get every single character to Prestige 3, Level 50 with all Perks obtained. Prepare to see some huge numbers.
Since I want to talk about new players specifically, I'll focus on the one thing most new players will most likely do when they first start playing the game. Get as much teachables as they can as soon as possible. Because they want to have fun builds, they want to be able to survive against Killers or Survivors who have (arguably) better perks than them. So let's just assume this New Player wants to grind for every teachable in the game. First they would need to level every Character to Level 40 at a minimum.
It takes a minimum of around 1,250,000 Bloodpoints to get a single character to Level 40. Let's then multiply that with every character that is currently in DBD, there are currently 21 Survivors and 19 Killers. Bringing the number to a total of 40 Characters to level up to Level 40. Which brings the amount of Bloodpoints you need to 50 Million Bloodpoints. If you show this to a new player, they would find this to be incredibly daunting and tedious.
But I hear you asking, "Kibara! Not every one of those characters has perks that are worth to grab!" And you would be right. So let's just remove the characters whose entire perk deck are not in the current meta, very situational or are just not worth to grab in general (Bolded Perks are up for debate on whether or not they are worth getting):
- Ace Visconti (Up the Ante, Open Handed, Ace in the Hole)
- Quentin Smith (Wake Up!, Vigil, Pharmacy)
- Jeff Johansen (Distortion, Aftercare, Breakdown)
- Ash Williams (Mettle of Man, Buckle Up, Flip Flop)
- Steve Harrington (Babysitter, Camaraderie, Second Wind)
- Zarina Kassir (Red Herring, Off the Record, For the People!)
- The Huntress (Beast of Prey, Territorial Imperative, Hex: Huntress Lullaby)
- The Demogorgon (Surge, Mindbreaker, Cruel Limits)
- The Oni (Zanshin Tactics, Blood Echo, Nemesis)
- The Deathslinger (Gearhead, Dead Man's Switch, Hex: Retribution)
And with that, we eliminated 10 (at least in my opinion) characters that you don't need to grind for because their perks are (arguably) not worth to grind for. That still leaves us with 30 characters whose perks are definitely worth grinding for though. Not only do these 30 characters have useful perks, some of them are downright powerful that you would be nuts to not get as soon as possible.
You would be nuts to not go for Dead Hard or BBQ & Chili from the start of your DBD Career, because these perks really REALLY help out a lot in escaping, chasing, detecting or even giving you free Bloodpoints.
Now that we have that sorted out, how much BP do we have to spend now?
37,500,000.
That is STILL A LOT of Bloodpoints. And to any new players, if they saw this number they would find that incredibly discouraging. Because they see the cap is 1 Million Bloodpoints, so they would think 1 Million is a lot of Bloodpoints.
Oho, but we're not yet done with the Grind Train yet, my friends. It gets even more exponentially expensive. It's like playing an Idle Game except you need to always be active to gain cash.
Let's assume those new players become regular players, and they want to fully prestige their characters. They see those bloody outfits and they want their own characters to look like that. Well, if they want to fully Prestige their characters with level 50 on all of them, lets do the math again then, shall we?
To get a Level 1 Character to Level 50, you need roughly around 1,750,000 Bloodpoints. To get A SINGLE CHARACTER to Prestige 3-50, you need to multiply that number 4 times. Meaning the grand total amount, the MINIMUM amount you need to spend on a single character to fully max out their levels is 7,000,000 Bloodpoints.
Yikes! That's already around 1/6th of the amount of Bloodpoints required to gain every teachable that is worth it in the game.
And of course, per our formula, we need to then multiply that number by 40 (assuming they want to prestige every single character in the game to it's max level). After that, we get a grand total of 280,000,000 Bloodpoints to max out every single character is this damn game.
That is a ridiculously large amount of Bloodpoints. I've played for 1.5k Hours in this game and I've only accumulated around 100,000,000 Bloodpoints myself. But hey, you can argue that it needs to be that expensive because Prestiging a character is Optional. You don't have to do it, which is why it's so expensive, it shows you're willing to put more time into the game. And I get that, it is meant to be more of a reward system for loyal players rather than an actual grind you have to overcome.
But what if you want to experiment with Perk Builds? Something that is a part of the game, and arguably, half the fun of Dead by Daylight to some people (myself included).
You would obviously need every single perk in the game to be able to actually experiment with the perks you want to play with. And here is where the massive numbers come in.
It takes roughly around 35 Million Bloodpoints to get every single perk in the game, and that is already close to the minimum we need to get for every single TEACHABLE that is worth to grab from the various characters in DBD. Reduce the number you need for Level 50, and you still need 33,250,000 Bloodpoints. (Keep in mind, I am assuming this character is Prestige 3, which means they already need to spend 5,250,000 Bloodpoints already on a single character.)
Arguably, you can be conservative and say that since every Survivor plays the same. You only need to get it for one Survivor and you'll be able to play with every perk in the game as much as you fancy.
But what if you play Killer?
Every killer plays differently, meaning not every build will work for every single one of them. You may need to mix-and-match separate perks to see what works well for you for that particular killer. So, you might end up grinding Bloodpoints to earn every single perk in the game, for every single Killer in the game if you don't have a single main you always play as.
Meaning, once again, we take the number 38,500,000 Bloodpoints (Assuming they start from Level 1), and we multiply that by 19.... And we get...
731,500,000 Bloodpoints.
And that is the best case scenario, that is assuming the Bloodweb doesn't screw you over by eating up multiple perks at once which has happened to me loads of times when I was maxing out Spirit. That is still a ridiculously huge amount of Bloodpoints, especially for Killers.
Now, if we add up every single Survivor as well, that number skyrockets to...
1,540,000,000 Bloodpoints.
Seeing this number and doing the math makes me think that perks like BBQ and WGLF are sometimes Mandatory because of how ridiculous this grind can be.
This reminds me a lot of PAYDAY 2 prior to them adding the Crime Spree mechanic. You needed to grind hours upon upon of XP to get to Infamy-XXV and you get diminishing returns because doing the best heist in the game for XP over and over again will incur you an XP penalty. It was brutal and unforgiving.
With Crime Spree, yeah the heists became harder but the rewards became much more worth it, it became much more rewarding and the time spent to grind greatly diminished making it easier to grind for Infamy-XXV.
But DBD has nothing like that, With BBQ you'd be lucky if you got 64,000 Bloodpoints in a single match. I just cannot fathom how someone, especially DBD Content Creators, could spend that much hours, that many matches of the same game to max out every character in the game to it's fullest potential. It must be a huge feeling of relief when you finally reach there.
After doing the math, I really hope BHVR takes a look at BP gains, or at least the Bloodweb Mechanic. Because right now DBD is incredibly hostile to new players, and it's driving people away more than it encourages them to stay because of that looming grind over their heads. And I think it would be better for the game, and the playerbase as a whole, if the grind was not this huge.
That's all I have to say regarding the Grind in Dead by Daylight.
Thank you for coming to yet another one of my TED Talks, it is now 6 AM and I have not slept.
It will take several days, or even weeks to get one character to Prestige 3-50, not even maxing them out. Especially on the Survivor side since, again, they do have more perks and their BP gain is much lower to Killers.

Yeesh, that's unlucky. I've had 1 survivor turn out that way, think it was Quentin.
At this point I've got 1 survivor left to level to 40+, and only 1 killer to 40. Trying to be as optimal as possible so I can get at least 1 survivor and 1 killer maxed out before I think of doing it to any others. That's taken me 324 hours.
It's like... I'm not mad about the grind, but there are ways BHVR could shorten it a bit. Removing tiers. Upping survivor gains some how. Making "We're Gonna Live Forever" a little more worth wild to take. So on and so forth. It's gonna be a good while before I have that Prestige 3 survivor with all the perks, and even longer for killer. The only reason I put killer off for so long was so I could have at least one half of the game completely unlocked.
You might want to start playing Killer more often because Survivor has more perks, meaning you have to grind much more to get every single perk in the game for a single Survivor.

We shouldn't, but those same people want Killers like Deathslinger to be nerfed because players who play Deathslinger are actually good at playing Deathslinger. Thing is, they are also pretty vocal in the Forums, Reddit, Twitter, Steam Forums... You name it, they are probably there.
Because when they lose, it's not their fault, it's because the Killer is Overpowered or their tactic is "Boring".

Yep, everyone hates the grind, but it is what keeps us playing the game.

I'm going to have to say The Oni.
As much as I love playing as him sometimes, he isn't the Snowballer 9000 everyone makes him out to be. Sure his power combined wiht Infectious Fright is terrifying if he could get near a group of survivors. But most of the time you'll just get one or two survivors if you're lucky. Most Survivors knows that playing against Oni means that you need to stay away from each other, especially the one that's being chased.
-
@StardustSpeedway said:
Man, I love playing both sides. I always focus on the survivor challenges first as it takes long to find matches and find them more difficult to accomplish. I feel the issue that most people have playing killer is they take things way too seriously. Once you stop taking everything seriously and you play on your own terms, it's a blast.
Kiiinda hard when you're rather competitive ^^;
I personally like to play as optimally as I can and try to keep Meme/Farming/Just-for-Fun Games at a minimum because when I play a game, I aim to win, not necessarily have fun during the match. Winning is fun for me. Which is probably why I get easily tilted or stressed when an opponent outplays me
-
Crossplay/Crossprogression wouldnt even work with Mobile.
The progression system is entirely different and even the maps are different since it's basically a more low poly version of what we already see on both PCs and Consoles. It's just an entirely different game so it wouldn't make sense for it to be able to crossplay with other platforms.

It gets tiring seeing the same moris over and over again without any sort of damage on the Survivor.
-
Just had a tilting game in Grim Pantry.
One of the reasons I hate playing that map so much is because the survivors I always get matched up in that map tend to be the best of the best and I don't know why. It's like that map sucks away all of my skill as a Killer and spreads it throughout evenly for all 4 of the survivors.
Killer definitely can be stressful, but it genuinely isn't as bad as what it used to be.

I will be frank, if that is boring to you, most killers find "boring" seeing DS/BT/unbreakable but here we are, still seeing at least 1 survivor using them per match, sometimes it's all 4.
Forever Freddy is now not as good as it was before
Yep, every game as Killer without fail there will always be 2 or 3 people with DS or DH.
(Don't mind the NOED and Bloodwarden, I was doing the EGC Challenge.)
Someone could argue that I still won, so why should I care? Well... When every game you expect to see the same opponents, doing the exact same strategies as before, and always playing in a way that is incredibly predictable... It gets rather stale, don't you think?

Removing 20 seconds is a lot of time in DBD. If it wasn't OP, why does every Freddy use them?
Because it's more consistent than Ruin? And easier to proc?
Lets think of it this way, Pop on Freddy is basically Dying Light on any Killer. It's a "Win More" Perk. If the Freddy is good at chases, he will get quicker downs, the faster he downs people, the more value he gets out of Pop, the more value he gets out of Pop, the harder for the Survivors to get generators done.
Notice though, that for all of that, the Freddy first needs to be good at chases (or rely on Potatoe Survivors). If he wasn't good at chases, or if he spams snares, he most likely won't get much usage out of Pop. Heck, I even recorded myself repairing a generator the second after Freddy teleported to it and Popped it because I was hiding and being stealthy WHILE INJURED.
Though I won't show that because it shows my username and I don't want people in the forums knowing my username, maybe I will if I edit it out first.
-
That's literally just comparing a Promo Artwork with the actual in-game model.
Or you know... Comparing these two together:
If you honestly think the in-game graphics will look anywhere NEAR as good as the promo artwork, you need to play more games. Like seriously, play more games. The promo artwork will always look much more better because they are for PR, marketting, it's there to entice you to want to buy the game/skin.
-
You cannot balance something because you personally find it "Boring"
That would be unfair to people who find playng as and against him fun, like me, I have loads of fun whenever I play against Freddy.
If something is Broken or OP then yes, he should be nerfed accordingly. But he isn't. He is just "Boring" to you.

Exactly. Even if she isn’t running Iron Maiden, getting into lockers against Huntress is a bad idea. She could just get lucky wanting to reload her hatchets and surprise, there’s a survivor in there.
Lord knows I've had that happen to me multiple times whenever I play as Huntress.
People really need to realize that Lockers are a no go when facing a Huntress, especially if you hide after seeing her finish a chase.

Can you really be suprised that a lot of people spammed "skip" when you hint a new killer then start streaming and then show (in comparison to a new chapter) boring content?
Some people were only there to watch the new killer info, you can't blame them.
It was the 4TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY.
Not a Killer Reveal Stream.
They should've known better.
I was honestly there because I was excited to see what other stuff they have to announce other than the Killer, like the Graphical Overhaul and Crossplay.

That's a disgusting group of survivors. What would they do without those builds.
Probably lose. Because when I played that game I thought I was facing Rank 20s

Yeah you can clearly tell the devs know Silent Hill very well. I think it's actually very intentional "lore-wise" as to why James isn't the survivor, even if most people would think it makes more sense. Spoiler for SH2 btw but: think about it. Jame's isn't actually a very good person deep down. He's very flawed. In fact, he's a murderer. He doesn't seem the type to want to survive at all costs. And you can see him manifest some pretty dark thoughts and emotions throughout the whole game. Something almost all killers in DBD manifest, before they turn into what they've become. Survivors who lose hope and faith, become killers. And I think James is quite literally manifested as Pyramid Head and brought into the world of DBD.
That's actually a fairly good theory on why it's Heather and not James. He became the monster he brought to life.
