  • The first infection hit is supposed to apply the Hindered status onto survivors, but its currently set at a baffling duration of 0.25 seconds.

Its got to be some kind of mistake, but as far as I'm aware, nobody aknowledged the issue on the dev side. same for Clown's tonic being completly broken.

  • The Trickster should have a lullaby. He is a K-pop music themed killer after all. He should make noise and mess with sound. But not like this. This current lullaby is pointless and cement him even more as the worse huntress.

  • If a survivor is Oblivious he is not considered to be in the killer's Terror Radius for the purpose of power and perks effects.

If the killer is under the effect of Undetectable, he does not have a Terror Radius.

The Legion's Killer Instinct is tied to their Terror Radius.

So Yes. You cannot detect survivors with your Killer Instinct if you are undetectable or the survivor is oblivious.

  • Trickster does not need a buff. He need a redesign. He need something of his own that Huntress or Deathslinger can't just straight up do better. Something unique to his base power and not tied to add-ons.

In his current form he will forever be a worse Huntress, unless he recieve some massive numbers buff. Then he would just be better Huntress and that would displace the problem instead of solving anything.

  • Its not that survivors are bad, its that everybody is bad. The average solo queue survivors don't seem to do gens and don't understand when and how to make hook saves. Meanwhile, your average killers have so little confidence in their ability to chase or defend generator that they tunnel by default. And because survivors can't make clean saves, they have plenty of opportunites to tunnel.

  • The first thing they need to do is fix the really weird 0.25 seconds of Hindered applied to infection hits. That value make no sense and has to be a mistake. 2.5 seconds of Hindered instead would make it so survivor only get a 130% speed boost on hit instead of the normal 150% and then run at 80% speed for 0.5 seconds.

  • All Kill remain the worst. They just released a stricly worse version of an existing killer. Its like they didn't even try.

There are many rough things about the Twins but at least they are unique.

  • Oblivious survivors are not considered to be in the killer's Terror Radius, so Legion's Killer Instinct does not detect them. Anything tied to the killer's TR wont affect an Oblivious survivor.

The only exception is the Doctor's Static Blast that explicilty cancel Oblivious.

The whole chapter update is such a mess. How does this even happen when Clown got no changes?

Best bet is that its got something to do with the really weird 0.25 seconds of Hindered that Nemesis inflict on infection hits. Its so short it doesn't do anything noticeable. They may have changed something about the status effect that also affect Clown, since his Afterpiece Tonic also inflict Hindered.

  • I'm calling it now. They screwed the decimal point and nobody noticed. It was probably supposed to be 2.5 seconds +1.5s with Licker Tongue. That would make way more sense than a pitiful quarter of a second.

Clowns bottles still have the full slowdown once applied.

However direct hits and walking through the gas for brief moments does nothing.

Moreso it's like clowns power only applies after .25 or .5 seconds of running through the gas.

So what you are saying is survivors are only slowed if they walk trough a gas cloud ? Allmost as if the status only remained as long as they stay in the gas and vanish as soon as they get out of it ? Like in 0.25 seconds ? 🀨

  • @Snapshot said:

I bet this is also the reason why survivors don't get the Hindered status effect off a whip from Nemesis.. They are supposed to slow down but it outright does not work. (there even is an Addon for Nemi which makes the Hindered effect longer, it also does a whole lot of nothing) ...

Well the hindered effect from Nemesis's Infection last for 0.25 seconds, wich is worthless. Could it be what is happening here too ? Could they have made Clown's bottles also only last for 0.25s ? πŸ€”

  • The weird thing about the infection hits is that there is a baked in mechanic to reduce the speed boost survivor get. Infection hits inflict the Hindered status onto survivor wich reduce their speed by 20%... for 0.25 seconds.

So out of the normal 2 seconds of 150% speed when hit, survivor will run a 130% speed for a quarter of a second. Why even bother ?

But on the plus side it mean the mechanic is allready there and can easily be tweaked with simple number changes.

  • Short answer: you are doing it wrong.

I won't bother with the long answer anymore. You probably won't read it or care anyway.

  • All-Kill by far.

I would be really curious to know how this waste of chapter was develloped. My biggest question is: Did they even try ? Did they try to make new and interesting mechanics around the K-pop theme only to decide they didn't work and drop them. Or did they decide from the get go to create a completly uninspired killer power and focus the whole chapter on style without a hint of substance ?

Sadly we will probably never know.

  • Is he tho ? He seem to me like a killer with no special mobility or lethality. His tentacle attack does not even injure healthy survivors, only infect them. And even at max level, its just a wost version of Punishment of the Damned. As for the zombies, I think they will be very map dependant and unreliable beyond distracting survivors now and then.

He is interesting and unique for sure. But strong ? I don't see it yet.

  • It wouldn't hurt to try. Right now Blindness is the weaket status effect, and only really threatening in slugging scenarios. It does no hinder survivors in chase or working on gens.

Even if it did hide the red stain it would probably still be weak and not meta, simply because most sources of blindess are temporary with very short durations, and it would have to compete with the current meta killer choices, heavily revolving around generator slow down and chase enchancers.

  • Why would you expect them to work together after the OoO rework ? If the killer can't see your aura, obviously OoO won't do anything.

  • The first part of the video is pure ignorance of the reveal mechanic on the survivor's part. Thats not how it work and your feelings don't matter on the subject.

The second part is more puzzling, but it actually show 2 things. The "reveal zone" at the center of the survivor screen is larger than you think and slightly oval. Its wider than it is tall.

So in the end its another of thoses video of what not to do against Ghostface.

  • Charlotte got literaly nothing and trying to aim Victor's pounces while survivors try to run around stuff is not fun. Plus if you miss you are heavily punished. Switching beetween them is always awkward with all the various distance from objects restriction and tons of perks just don't work well for them because of Victor not technicaly being a killer.

Last time I played a RE title was the original decades ago.

How is bhvr gonna market the new killer's name?

For eg,if it's MR X they gonna call him what?"the Mr X"?doesn't seem right.

Just a reminder that the Tyrant from Resident Evil 2 is not in fact named Mr. X. Its a fan name and I have no idea where it came from. In the game he is one of the many T-103 model dropped over Racoon city, and the specific one encountered by Leon and Claire in the RPD is code named T-00.

The boss of the original Resident Evil as well as Nemesis where also Tyrants. Less memorable Tyrant variants also appear in Code Veronica and RE0.

So The Tyrant seem like a no brainer.

I feel people would like it better if it was an actual recognized character instead of a name-less shell people can decorate and pretend to be a character

Then again I ask. Would you rather have a heavily watered down Nemesis compared to what he is capable of in the RE games, or a faithfull T-103 who is 100% going to have a Legendary Nemesis skin ?

  • Would you prefer a faithfull Tyrant or a watered down Nemesis is the real question.

There is no earthly way Nemesis would get into DBD with his full arsenal of weapons and tentacles attacks. Meanwhile the Tyrant is a much more straightforward monster that can be included in the game without needing to workshop him heavily.

Also while original Nemesis may have been more memorable than the RE2 Tyrant, I feel its the opposite in the remake. Remake Nemesis feel like a setpiece in the first chapter and then just become a serie of boss fights. He never actualy feel like he is chasing you. Meanwhile in RE2 remake, once the Tyrant enter the RPD he is after you constantly, roaming around and making noises. When you go accross the police station you know its only a matter of time until he find you and you have to plan your path around his presence.

Honnestly the most likely things that is going to happen is that we will get a Tyrant with many skins. But Nemesis being the base kit would just be weird.

  • @SlightReturn said:

Mr. X will be the new killer. In the teaser picture it says dead by daylight X Resident Evil. I know that means crossover but it's also a hint at Mr. X. Leon will be survivor possibly (I hope)

"Mr. X" is not his actual name and he is never called that in any of the main RE games. As far as I know its a fan made name and I have no idea where it came from. The only time I've heard him being called Mr. X was in RE:Resistance wich is super not canon.

The RE2 Tyrant is still the most likely candidate but don't read too much into the X thing.

  • The main protagonists of RE games would feel really out of place in DBD running around unarmed, when they are best known for shooting tons and tons of virus mutated freakazoids.

I guess they could pick Sheva from RE5. That would explain why she never came back. RE4 Ashley and Moira from Rev2 would also make a lot of sense as a survivors.

For killers, the RE2 Tyrant seem like the most obvious and easiest to translate into DBD's simple gameplay as he is pretty much just a big bulletproof guy who can punch through walls. Give him some kind of shoulder charge, a gimmicky tracking mechanic and its done. (Also where the hell does the nickname "Mr. X" come from ? He is never called that in RE2 original or remake.)

That or it could be one of the sharks from RE1.

  • Maybe it won't be OP, but it will be annoying for a while. Killers will adapt, as they always do. But I think we all know what happen when killers are discouraged from chasing.

    IS πŸ‘πŸ»

    FOR πŸ‘πŸ»

You keep bringing this up, and no matter how many times you ask this, it is not, and was NEVER meant to be used this way.

Thats easy to say now that Legion has been reworked and their design consolidated. But at the time of release I don't think anybody knew what Legion's power was for, even (or especially) the devs.

Release Legion was simply a mess. Feral Frenzy didn't last long enough to effectively spread the pain and there where many, many incentives to stab survivors to death as a viable play style even without the poorly tought deep wound mechanic that could be abused with moonwalking and other terror radius shenanigans.

The Legion rework that came months after showed a clear design intent by removing all thoses incentives to use Feral Frenzy in a lethal way while extending its duration to make it easier to spread. It went too hard in the nerf direction and Legion was left in a sorry state for a ittle while, but they've been slowly buffed here and there since then.

This is not a rant againt the devs. This just demonstrate that they are human and faillible. They try stuff with their designs and sometimes it works, others it doesn't.

Anyway its pretty clear now that the devs don't want deep wound depletion to be a viable playstyle for the Legion, wich makes you wonder why Frank's Mixtape and Stab Wound Study still exist. But lets not pretend it was never a thing that defined this killer for months and months until the devs knew the direction they wanted to take them.

Trickster has a 1s cooldown (which is going to be 1,25s according to the last update) between the throwing knives state and being able to M1. So, just like Huntress, it's better to M2 into M1, as you don't have to go through the huge 3s weapon wiping animation. With Main Event you can down a survivor in less than 10 seconds if he's in the open.

Sure, but being able to punish survivors in the open a bit easier than basic M1 killers (and also far worse than the insta down gang) isn't much of an upside. And in its current form its really hard to discuss the usefullness and power of the Main Event, because you are hardly able to use it anyway.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The power is incredible to down outpositioned survivors in the open, but I'm extremely unlucky to always get it in a rock loop I can't even throw daggers lmao.

Any killer can get an easy hit on a survivor out of position in the open. And what is easier and quicker ? Landing a basic attack, or landing 8 knives ? Honnestly in most scenarios, its the basic attack. Thats the whole issue of this killer in a nutshell.

  • There is a crucial difference beetween Old Legion and the other guy.

Old Legion wasn't annoying because they camped and tunneled. Legion was annoying because they could bleed you to death by using either a busted add-on or taking advantage of the way deep wound used to work. Either way, there was little you could do against it, but it was a thing only Legion could really do. It was also arguably more effective than using Feral Frenzy as intended before they reworked them.

The other guy also has a bad power when used as intended. But unlike Old Legion, there is no loophole for him to exploit and get better results. There is nothing that only him can do or do better than someone else. The "main event" is supposed to be his own special thing, but its just terrible when it does not simply go to waste because of the timing restrictions.

Old Legion provided a unique gameplay as broken, exploitative and annoying as it may have been. The other guy just has nothing going for him right now. He is literaly The Worst.

  • The only problem with Ghostface reveals mechanics is you. Yes all of you who keep making theses pointless threads. Nothing is broken, or bugged. You are just doing it wrong and refusing to learn how it actualy work.

Revealing Ghostface is the easiest thing in the world and require zero skill. You just need to understand how to orient your camera and the game give you an audio cue when its working.

Just learn how the mechanic work and do it properly. I believe in you.

Nope not true I've revealed GF by just having him in the corner of my screen and I was behind a rock it's definitely broken I used to main him until I realised why I was constantly being broken out of NS it needs a better mechanic because the game rarely registers that he's there in front of you.

Did you happen to record it ? I'd really like to see it in action because that never ever happen to me. Centering my camera on him however always work (unless he is behind enough cover of course).

There are plenty of videos of survivors failing to reveal Ghostface, generaly because they are pointing their camera the wrong way. But I don't think I've ever seen videos of him being revealed out of nowhere from the survivor PoV. Unless we are talking about PTB Ghostface, who was unplayble.

  • @Trashmaster said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2043807#Comment_2043807

The ghostface doesn't actually need to be in the center, which makes the mechanic even more annoying since it'll trigger when you'd rather not be found.

It's also a total coin flip whether the reveal completes properly or not, and usually the reveal happens when the killer has already been behind some corner for a full second

Where do you get that idea from ? Center of the screen is how it work, there is no arguing about it. If you have somehow experienced Ghostface being revealed while you where looking at him wrong, maybe it was actualy another survivors who revealed him. Or maybe you don't understand what center of the screen mean. Lastly there is always latency. It affect the reveal mechanic just like anything else. That why Ghostface can still be revealed after ducking behind cover sometimes, but its not the reveal being broken, its just good old lag.

I'd be really curious to see video evidence of Ghostface being revealed by a survivor who is not centering his camera on him.

  • The reveal mechanic work. You are just doing it wrong.

You need to center your camera on Ghosftace while most of his body is visible. As in the center of your screen. Just "looking" at him does nothing if he not at the center of your screen. Usualy this mean you need to lower your camera angle a little bit compared to own your normaly play.

Seriously, its not hard at all.

  • On paper its nowhere near OP. Its just an add-on that provide a significant, usefull and noticeable bonus to a killer who is allready strong at base. Also it shine more because the rest of Oni's add-ons just don't have such noticeable effect.

Nerfing it would not be the end of the world for Oni. But its not exactly a super urgent priority.

  • @TAG said:

No it does not. Luck only affects self-unhooking and escaping Bear Traps.

I don't think it affect bear traps anymore since the last update.

Its a truly pointless stat that affect a single secondary mechanic in the game. It should just be removed at that point.

  • I also dislike the idea of Ghostface 99ing survivors and then activating Night Shroud mid chase and in plain view for the last 1%. But only from a design perspective really. It does not feel right.

But in practice, its nowhere near overpowered and Ghostface sort of need it to be a decent killer.

But I saw him. That's my point of this reveal mechanic making no sense.

If you could reveal Ghostface just by seeing him he would simply be unplayable, like on his orginal PTB version. The reveal mechanic is not just to "look at him", you have to aim properly, but its really easy once you understand it.

Now, if you want to make the argument that Ghostface's reveal mechanic is poorly explained in game and that lead you to believe that all you needed to do was to look at him then I'm with you. There are many things in this game that are poorly explained or counter-intuitive. This aspect of the game could certainly be improved.

If you just wish it worked differently, then I can't help you.

He can expose you in less than that amount of time due to busted stalking add-ons. And still, it's not as simple or consistent as y'all say.

Well, if he is using the "Ghostface caught on tape" ultra rare add-on, he can stalk somebody in 1.5 seconds if he is leaning. Wich is the same time as it take to reveal him and thats the fastest stalk possible as his other stalking add-on only apply to stalking while not leaning.

When Ghostface seem to instantly stalk you, its more likely that he stalked partially before and left you alone. So keep that in mind when you see that Ghostie appear to give up on you. Try to force him to hit you normaly right after he's been revealed to reset the stalk bar.

And lastly, yes the reveal mechanic is extremely consistent and easy. If you can aim with you mouse or stick you can do it 100% of the time provided that enough of Ghostface is visible. The only counter intuitive thing about it is that your own survivor model can block the detection. What is not consistant is the Killer Instinct notification that Ghostface is supposed to get when somebody reveal him. Sometimes you don't get it at all.

If you can learn to do 360Β°, chainsaw flicks, or whatever tech is popular theses days, you can learn how to reveal Ghostface. There is not trick to it. Just aim at the right spot.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

I still don't know why it's so darn specific. The entire body of Ghost Face being on my screen should be enough.

When he was released on the PTB his reveal zone was larger and it only took 1 second. He was basicly unplayble, being constantly revealed by survivors who hadn't even noticed him yet.

Its really not hard to reveal him now. You just have to aim your camera at the right place for 1.5 seconds.

  • @CanWeGetANewMap said:

I'm not saying ghost face is OP or something. However, I often find myself staring at his face and not "revealing" him. What is going on? Just watch this video to see how bad it can get.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENasgTdfWxI

That video is a great exemple of what not to do. You just need to orient your camera so that Ghostface his at the center of you screen, with most of his body visible. At no point during that video was that Ghostface ever properly centered. He was either too high or on a side.

Just tilt your view angle a bit, its really not that hard and you know you are doing it right because of the audo cue.

The reveal mechanic work, you just have to learn how to do it properly.

  • At the end of the day Doctor is a M1 killer that move at regular speed. While his power can trap a survivor at a pallet it still take a while to land a hit, and then you have to do it a second time. So even if you consistently apply madness to survivors, Doctor will struggle against decent teams who spread out on gens.

Maybe. Thing is, it's better to have a terrible perk than a must-run perk like old Ruin/Undying was.

I disagree. There is nothing sader than useless perks forgotten withins days. Strong perks can shake the meta for a while, sometimes for the worst (Mettle of Man comes to mind), but least its something different happening. Hex: Undying was a bit too good, but at least it made totems viables for a few months. Now its been gutted and we are just back to the old Corrupt/Pop meta.

  • Ghostface's reveal mechanic is not broken. You are just doing it wrong. It has nothing to do with how your character is facing. You need to have Ghostface at the center of your screen. And it does not work if you can't see enough of his body.

Playing against Ghostface I have no issue revealing him ever, unless he is mostly hidden behind something, wich is working as intended.

Playing as Ghostface, you can clearly tell the difference beetween survivors who understand the mechanic and those who don't. The fomer will watch out for you and reveal you at any opportunity they get from very far away, while the later can't even do it while you are running at them with no obstacles in the way.

I am willing to believe that lag and desynch can cause the reveal mechanic to not work properly, but it is a latency issue, not a problem with the mechanic itself. And I have never experienced this issue in person.

You say that until hes torturing you to make you scream so he can have some sounds for his music.

But that is the thing. If you don't bother reading the "lore", you would have no idea that this guy has anything to do with music. Its just a guy with a colorfull coat and throwing knives. His perks are vaguely celebrity related, but again nothing about music, or screams or any of that.

I have no issue with the K-pop aesthetic, but its just slapped over a very generic power. Its a wasted opportunity.

  • The teasers where way more interesting than the actual chapter. The Trickster is just a variant on the ranged killer idea, but in a way more convoluted way than Huntress or Deathslinger. His theme and abilities have also absolutly nothing to do with trickery (don't get me that lame knife tricks excuse).

I would be really, really curious to know how this chapter was designed. Top down, where they started with the theme and failed short on the mechanics ? Or bottom up, where they made a knife throwing killer and just kinda slapped a theme on it ?

Why is this guy not a stage magician ? He could chuck cards instead of knives and at least the name would make sense with he theme (not to mention it make way more sense to carry around 60+ cards, than 60+ knives!). Also what is one of the most famous magician tricks ? Vanishing from a box and reappearing somewhere else. If only we had plenty of box-like items around the maps to make use of such an ability.πŸ™„

And for his mori he could conjure a box around the survivors and saw them in half. Except the trick is that there is no trick.

But since none of this is ever going to happen (I dare you BHVR!), all we can do is try to think of silly nicknames for the definitly-not-an-actual-trickster. I'll call him the Yeeter, because he just yeet knives around.

  • When it come to stealth, Myers is actually quite bad. He can't go Undetectable once he tier up his Evil Within, after that, all he has is a smaller than normal Terror Radius. He is tall and stick out like a sore thumb with his white mask.

Wraith and Pig can go Undetectable at will, and Ghostface can do it on a short cooldown (even further reduced by his most used add-ons). Pig and Ghostface are also short sized killers and can crouch, while Wraith is straight up invisible at a distance.

Myers is not so much a stealth killer as he is a quiet killer.

What is Mightee One Entertainment, though? Unless that question can be answered, I'd say the chances of a licensed chapter is very low.

A made up company tied to one or both the new characters, like Peak 22 for Dwight. The fact that the logo is literaly "M1" might be a cute coincidence or a not so subtle reference to DBD killers.

  • Just had a pretty relevant game on Haddonfield. I was Legion against a very obvious console SWF team. Individualy they where not very good in chases, but they had the typical OoO calling my whereabouts and would just run away to safe spots forcing me to chase them in unfavorable positions. Also my Feral Frenzy was negated several times by the absurdly long fences making it impossible to approch efficiently from certain directions. And then you add the indoor generators that are a pain to patrol. You have no visibility on them, they often don't make noise from the outside and walking inside the house up or downstairs to check on them can just be a huge waste of time.

Another fun perk of the long fences is that while a hook might seem close, having to walk all the way around some house to reach it mean you sometimes can't make it. Great for sabo squads.

So yeah, in general Haddonfield is a huge pain if you happen to go against survivors who know how to use the layout of the map to their advantage.

  • Can we talk about that Mightee One logo who is litteraly "M1" ? What could M1 possibly mean in the context of Dead by Daylight ? Hmmm, what a mystery. πŸ€”

A K-Pop singer with a blue and green color motif ? Sea colors ? Alluring looks ? Beautifull songs ?

    Its a Siren.
