If you depip from win, it generally means you got carried in that game and did not do your fair share. Or at least that's how it's supposed to be.

If you don't chase, don't do gens, don't heal/unhook others, then it's fully possible you will depip.

And then there's also the unfun depips - if you face instakill meyers, there will probably be no injuries or hooks, limited chases and only a few objectives points. Sadly that's how instakill killers work (same for condemn sadako).

Other possibility is, that you genrushed poor killer fella (there are various reasons why that could be the case)/took too many op things as killer and the game ended way too quickly for you to collect enough points. This is sometimes quite fair, because it's 0 fun for the other side to be fully wiped out - and you should not play in the most sweaty way possible.

I did depip after unhooking survivor and healing two and doing 3 gens. I was bit chased by killer but not much as she tunneled nea almost whole game but I did take protection hits. Everyone got out that match and I earned 25K bp...

  • I agree I did depip after getting 25K bp and escape as survivor... Few times in the past though I have depipped as killer after getting 4K...

I was playing doctor for a daily and I got 4 spicy survivors. 2 brand new parts and an insta heal.

The survivors were Zarina, Ace, Claudette and Meg.

I hook Ace, I go for Claudette. Ace gets unhooked as I down Claudette and something interesting happens. Meg unhooks Claudette right behind me. What do I do? I go for Claudette again since Meg did the mistake of unhooking right behind me for no reason. I hook Claudette again and this Meg unhooks her once again right behind me. I go for Claudette again and kill her.

The next one I find is Ace. I down Ace and (guess what?) Meg did the mistake of unhooking Ace right behind me. I go for Ace again and kill him.

At the end of the match when all gens got done, I hook Zarina and Meg escapes. I got 3 kills out of this.

In end game chat I got called "serial tunneler". I told them several times that Meg was the real killer but they only knew a few words. "Tunnel no skill" and some personal insults towards my family members and that's where I reported them for hate speech.

Moral of the story: don't unhook right behind the killer if it's not needed and don't blame the killer for going after you for your teammate's mistake. Thank you for reading.

I think you did right to get claudette out so you have the advantage to win but you really should go after the meg once she unhooked ace as she should been the one punished and not the one rewarded with escape. I would probably go after meg when she unhooked claudette 2nd time as I think it would be unfair to finish her off when her teammate makes her easy prey and I know it's not fun to be in that position. Debends though how many gens are done but definetely that meg would have target on her back if I would play agains't her.

  • Trapper, sadako, ghostface, myers and pig could use buffs. Trapper should start with more traps or with all of them and one ramdom trap should reset maybe every 60-80s.

Sadako could be buffed to go through pallets while demanifest and her tv:s should have lower cool down when she can teleport back to them but longer cooldown if survivor turn's one off. Current cooldown I think is 60s if survivor turn's one off and 120s if sadako teleport's to one. I would switch these.

Im not sure how to buff ghostface maybe make him even more stealthy he suffers from bright and open maps so he should be harder to spot in those. He is though just m1 killer with no mobility.

Myers should be faster in tier 1 and at least have normal lunge. Scratched mirror myers could be actually scary then. Tombstone piece is maybe too powerful but you can still easily counter it by going locker. But judith tombstone is lot weaker and I think it should not have counters if myers manages to achieve it because usually all gens get done before he does get it. Overall he could be bit faster in tier 3 and have built in brutal streng.

Pig antiloop should get buffed. She however had very good slowdown with traps but still most pigs I see loses so her add ons which buffs her antiloop should be basekit that way she can bit use it too to end chases faster.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

Delete Tombstone Piece and then buff Myers.

Tier 1 is just far too detrimental to him in its current state and maybe tier 3 could use a small boost too. Tier 2 is ok the way it is.

No! Tier 1 could get buffed but tombstones have to stay and judith tombstone could use buff you should be able to mori survivor going in locker.

  • Grabs are not healthy for the game so no they don't need buffs.

  • Noticed this too now. Earlier I though my stats were bugged to not track last kill but in fact it just does not count in the game at all. Actually just the last survivor you get to sacrifice does not count if others leave the exit before sacrifice is completed. I think this is actually reason why I have been depipping more and it's harder to pip than before and just 3K is not enough to pip if last one escapes throught exit before other sacrifices are completed.

  • You should definetely try my winrate is over 60% in those maps and I play mostly m1 killers. But facing good swf is nightmare on those maps.

Survivors that dc are little entitled babies who have never been told no and things don’t always go your way.Do if the game gets a little hard g do or ghrr we m they cry and quit and screw Ed very body else in the game over because they are a special little d sad now flake and they “deserve “ to win.Freaking stupid.

What you call killers who dc? In higher mmr mostly killers dc in my matches. I understand it because it's hard but sometimes it's irritating if there is many cakes and there would been lot more bp to earn potentially.

I do play with a controller. I find it much easier than keyboard and mouse, plus it takes up less space.

Oh so your basically same boat as us console players. Mouse is better if you practise but it's fine to play with controller too just harder. Try tricks I suggest and don't go very big lunges in the open area if the survivor is probably going to 360s.

  • @Unimatrix00 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3256817#Comment_3256817

Well I'm on PC and I find them impossible to hit. I have never once hit a spinning survivor, despite trying.

Do you play on controller? Well there is few tricks you can try to counter them one is wait that they stop spinning and then just hit quick m1 or take few step back and then hit. You should check your sensivity settings too put them higher and if you play on mouse you can just follow them while they spin and hit.

  • You probably walked past pallet when getting stunned by it so you just got punished being careless. It's game mechanic and perfectly fine just don't walk past pallet while carrying someone.

Spinning is only problem for console killers whereas pc killers can easily hit spinning survivors. Solution for this is to improve aim assist for console. Unfortunately it's not only advantage pc killers have.

  • Yeah I wish they add that I sometimes kill survivors accidentally not knowing they were on death hook or they did get 2nd stage on first hook. Counter would help getting 6-8 hooks before killing anyone.

Whats legit about giving up on first hook and dooming the rest of the team? Thats not playing the game normal and no reflection of the current state of the game.

Most survivors dc at death hook though to deny kill from killer and those are exluded from stats. Survivors I play agains't almost never hook suicide. I wish they would do it more to give me easier games.

oh im sorry, do you get your blood pressure while playing survivor and win?

no its always just simple just hide or lose chase

so why the hell does every killer have to get a heart attack to win, look we talked about this in that thread if u wanna keep talking about it go back to it

    tho nice memory and life.

Survivor can be as stressful to win. Killer is more stressful usually but does that make survivor unstressful? Definetely not. But that all debends how you play if you want to win every game as killer and reach iri grade 1 and fear depipping it's very stressful compared to someone who just plays for fun.

  • I think something has been changed in killer pipping it's lot harder than before and it's very easy to depip. I had good game with wraith just recently with 8 hooks and 3K without camp/ tunnel but I still didn't pip.

The dude who got that nurse win streak started out playing nurse on console. The nurse difficulty is HIGHLY exaggerated, she’s is by far the easiest killer to play on PC and Console.

No it's easy to 360s console nurse hit.

I haven’t played much killer since killers were given a little buff. I have definitely gotten very bad for whatever reason. Shouldn’t be rust at this point. I’m not popping at all. Could be a string of bad luck but I cannot even get past silver 4. I keep breaking even or depipping. Did I miss something somewhere? I’m not getting many kills. Maybe two in a match if I’m lucky. Several matches were 3 or four hooks. I just suck now WTH

I was never a very good survivor and made it to iri 1 and I thought that was odd.

I have kind of having same problem I did reach gold now after try harding and using killer I have good success. I either have 0-1K games where survivors destroy me and I depip or 3-4K game where I destroy them and then don't pip because I end the game too early.

  • @Archael said:

I'd like to share my thoughts on dead by daylight gameplay, and how (in my opinion) frustration is created by losing a game. Let's start with the fact that dbd is an asymmetric game where 4 survivors try to escape from a killer who wants to sacrifice them.

    Everyone knows about it.

    So it's a 4v1 game… well, not really.

Survivors' goals are not consistent. Everyone fights for themselves and even if there are altruists here, by the standards of the game, they will be sacrificed, and lost, so we do not play in the 4v1 group, but in the (1v1v1v1) v1 groups. This is a significant difference, directly influencing the game balance - the killer should be as strong as 4 survivors, but he cannot be stronger than 1, so that everyone has a chance to win in an average of ½ matches ... see the paradox?

Survivors should work together in a group of 4, and even 1 player's escape should be a victory for all 4 survivors, so that even that one altruist who has been distracting the killer throughout the match feels that he has done something. Currently, this only happens in pre-arranged groups, and in very rare solo-q cases. This would also mean that the killer must be strong enough to have a chance to kill all survivors, as leaving at least one alive could result in his failure.

Currently, for a killer to win, he has to sacrifice 4 survivors, sacrificing 1 does not mean victory for the killer, but loss for survivor, and if someone is still in that one unfortunate case, he can get very frustrated.

If we assume a 60% killrate for the killer (as officially stated), it means that in 10 matches, 24 survivors will be sacrificed, which means at least 2 survivors per game. This means that for a single survivor to win, he MUST compete with at least two other survivors for him not to be sacrificed… should a 4v1 game look like this? Do these 4 have to compete with each other instead of working together? What about the one who was always working for a team but as a distraction for the killer? According to the devs, he has to die, and if not him, then the one of those he protected (at least 2 deaths per match) and he will lose.

For each survivor to win on average once every 3 games, even 4 games, their survival rate has to be 0.25, but then the killer must have a killrate of 0.42 (0.75 ^ 4). To achieve the assumed 60% killrate, the chance of winning for the survivor is less than 12%, i.e. a statistical survivor will escape from 1 of  more than 8 matches (8.33)... and it is known that some will be below the statistics ... Does it really have to be this way? There is really nothing you can do?

Personally, I think it is possible. It is possible not only to equalize the chances of winning the killer and the survivors (but also to improve the overall balance, but more on that below).

This thread concerns only the problem, in the next post I will write how I see the solution, because the example is not the main thread.

I facecamp first survivor in basement and get another one down who tried rescue which secures 2K. Get third one down later and last get hatch survivors won...

  • @Marius1234456918 said:

The fact survivors can win almost every game if they play swf is just crazy to me. You cant just pick clown or Trapper and have some fun. There are just way too much swf teams who just do all gens in like 2-3 min and then start t baging you and waste you time by not going out. Its just not fun at all if 3or 4 out of 5 matches look like this. Either gen speed needs to be way slower or certain maps and loops needs to be patched or removed.

Survivors are not way too strong 4 man swf is.

At some point they answered in a Japanase Q&A that they want to keep the Depip as something to reward Skill or something like that. But yeah, it is pointless to have Depips when Grades are just a reflection of playtime.

At the very, very least, no Depips should be given when someone DCs and escapes and 4Ks should never result in a Depip. (Even tho it is rare to 4K with a Depip, only possible if you kill all Survivors with Myers, but still)

I think 3-4K should always result in pip as you won and it should not matter how you did it. I recently have had many 3-4K but not pipping and then I get depip when I get one 1K agains't coordinated swf. I don't think I reach red rank this month im only silver 1 and been stuck there for week.

I have for the most part cut back my playing time (since the big balance patch) by about 95%. I still get the itch to play every few days, but end up getting quickly reminded why I cut back my playing time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3252485#Comment_3252485

There are a ton of things they can do including adding Kindred base kit. Honestly the easiest change is that for every solo player in a lobby, reduce gen times by 5 seconds. SWFs remain at the same level they are at right now and everyone else gets a small boost in strength. I don't expect them to tackle tunneling and camping over night. But small incremental buffs shouldn't be too much to ask for.

What about 2 man swf do they get the buffs as well? But I think survivors need basekit kindred and everyone should have those obsession things telling who is chased. Those changes would be big help for soloQ.

  • Windows of opportunity is best survivor perk in game in my opinion so it's good reason to buy character. It helps learning loops and tells areas where pallets are already used. Also it gives imformation, if killer is chasing someone close by. You can also wait when it appears in shrine of secret to get it with cheaper price though. If you don't want to buy it then you have to memorize loops and maps. Very good loopers can do as well without it like probbz, ayrun and naymeti.

  • Survivor: windows of opportunity I just can't play without it otherwise I feel powerless...

Killer: probably pain res or call of brine im not as debendent on perks with killer so hard to decide which one to pick.

Eh, I play mostly survivor and I see surv DCs in at least a third of my games, often on first hook/down, regardless of who or how the killer is playing. And I see survs disconnect at like a 20:1 (and I'm being conservative there) rate compared to killers, which is kind of to expected, given it's a 4v1 game.

So I would strongly disagree that's it's a "being driven to DC/suicide on hook by toxic/unfun play", and much, much more a temper tantrum rage quit issue the vast majority of the time.

Your probably in "mmr hell". My teammates almost never dc but killers dc sometimes when we're destroying them I have caused personally killers to dc few times in october just by looping them and using 99 sprint burst. But when I play 3 man swf our solo teammate dc sometimes probably because my friends are in lower mmr and they dc sometimes when killer hard tunnels.

  • My main is Feng ming too I just like her and she has best cosmetics. I don't have main as killer I play them all.

  • I usually try to rescue without dying but sometimes im left behind then if it's 3 man swf for example even if they could easily saved me. I would only purposelly sacrifice myself if the ramdom would be big reason why we won (looping killer long time).

  • @hiken said:

Nurse, no killer in the game can finish a chase in 20 seconds with you being unable to do anything. literal domination, nothing can be done unless nurse is terrible at the game.

    That's not scary just boring.

  • Scratched mirror myers is scary almost gave me heart attack once. But in gameplay wise he is weak and easy to loop as long ss you see him. He should receive few buffs like normal lunge and bit faster speed.

That was awful. A more extreme case of survivors not even doing their full objective and escaping for free. Keys needed to go, and they still do. Supposed to be "limited time item" but we're kept permanently and open hatch even after the killer closes it.

Nah they're pretty bad item now killers will tunnel you out if you have them or they have franklin's. They should change hatch how it was but it's only spawn when all gens are done.

This doesnt mean anything if you count on that nurse isnt the strongest killer. I dont say weskers cant win against bad people or solo q people. But he dont have anything to end loops faster then break the pallet. Thats makes him in loop situation even worst then clown or Trapper. Hes good in open space but good people dont move in open space anyway.

The stats exluded dc:t which lowers nurse kill rates significantly. There is usually one dc from my team when I play agains't her.

That's so odd to me because I haven't faced one in months. I'm not trying to meme or anything. Every Bubba I have met in the last year has not face camped at all.

I had few months that bubbas didn't facecamp and started to miss them but now they're back so it's just you now. But I say there is still lot higher chance to huntress facecamping you because bubbas usually go for chase and play fair.

  • @Shartley said:

I'm tired of being killer, doing well in a game, and having two survivors left with 3+ gens left. Let's be honest, they aren't going to do gens. Chances are one will hide in a locker, rotating between them to avoid birds, while the other more nubbish player runs around. I'll find one, slug him so I can get the 4k (which i ######### DESERVE in this case), and then spend 15 minutes trying to find this ######### coward that won't own up to the fact that he got owned, in a survivor sided game, and he's going to exploit this bullshit mechanic so he can get a free get out jail card aka hatch so he can feel warm and fuzzy about himself, get a pip and deprive me of a 4k.

Well what do I do half the time? I just hook the first downed survivor to avoid this horrendous slog of bullshit. Why not? There is at best a 20% chance I'll find that hatch before him, so why even ######### bother? Its like BHVR does everything in their power to prevent killer feeling good. You literally have to just absolutely ######### body survivors, or go against such potatoes that it doesn't even feel rewarding. And don't come at me with these dogshit ######### stats about 60% kills I don't give a ######### what people are doing in Ash tier.

Since this is how game developers work these days (players make the game for them, because its questionable whether or not devs even play their own work) I'll propose a solution. When there are less survivors than there are gens after two kills (that's 3 gens for you number challenged folks) crows immediately appear on all remaining survivors, and are audible in the same way they are normally as if afk. Working on a gen, crouching behind a box, hiding in a locker - crows are present and squawking. When the number of gens hits equal to the number of survivors, the crows disappear during and for 10 seconds after repairing a generator. When the gens drop down to less than the remaining survivors (read that 1 generator) the crows disappear. This will adequately prevent the obnoxious stalemate currently in the game, which by all purposes, should be a killer advantage situation.

Killer is already exhausting enough at mid-tier+ level of play. When you do well and play a good game you deserve to be rewarded.

Stop slugging for 4K if you can't take it. It's smart for last survivor hide in that situation and heal the slugged one when you're not around. If you just kill the 3rd one you have still chance to find hatch before last one. Otherwise you're just wasting lot of time to get that 4K. I only slug for 4K when I down 3rd one and see last survivor.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Hatch is indeed like the worst endgame mechanic they could have possibly come up with. "Got a 4k? Nope! We just let the last survivor out for freeee!" The only thing people say against it is, "They probably got a bad team" (Really? Every single time, we're supposed to assume that?) and, "It's to stop the game from being held hostage." (Why not make the anti-hostage mechanic killer favored then? Or at least neutral and not a free escape?) both of which are terrible excuses. My suggestion? The survivors don't want to progress the game, they get their auras shown, cross-map, without lockers or Distortion or anything like that stopping it. I have no shame.

Old hatch was better all 4 could escape with one key with doing few gens.

  • It's proven to be working counter. Myers take lot of time to get to tier 3 with his iri add ons so if your team just minimaze his stalking chanses while looping him all gens should be done easily.

  • @Volcz said:

Oh I know. I can usually just shrug or agree to disagree w/ him. But the topic on Eruption blew my mind. So killer biased he downplays real issues survivors have b/c he can't give them any leaway. & then his chat leaps to defend and I'm like ??? I had to get out of there today, lol.

Damn that is not even killer biased that is like not cabable understanding the other side at all. His counter basically only works agains't new killer who can be looped very long time. But if the skill level is more equal survivor will get downed eventually. And in 3 gen scenario even bad killer can easily get eruption value without much effort.

  • I don't really have main but I play some killers more than others. So probably my mains are, Cannibal Oni, Wraith, Michael, Demogorgon and Pyramid head.

SWF makes a big difference, I don't know if you know. High MMR killers can struggle with solos if they're efficient enough. SWF is like most of what they face though, and it's almost never easy, as most would have you believe. Some killer players like me try to make killers like Pig and Demogorgon work at high MMR; we don't get very far. Even with Blight, being on console mind you, struggling vs even average players is the norm. You are not required to be good at gens AND chase to beat good killers; just one will do, assuming your teammates are okay.

We might as well stop using kill streaks and escape streaks as meaningful evidence. They're the exception to the rule, and good/bad players being thrown into the mix is what makes or break them.

Blight being bad on console is BHVR fault they have optimazed killers poorly for console. Console needs aim assist for hits and smoother movement for killers like blight, oni and hillbilly. Also all the tech should be made available for console like hug tech or Oni's 180s to make things more equal. Console survivors need few buffs as well to spin fast like pc survivors can but those are not as big problems. Other option would be remove crossplay and console players should only play agains't console players.

  • Survivors survival rate is under 40% in most recent official stats. That means most often outcome is 2-3K. But though many matches end up other side dominating so 4K and 0-1K are more common result than you would think. Most my soloQ matches ends just like that. Either it's baby killer and we all get out or it's decent killer and we all die.

  • @Katzengott said:

So you guys really think they exclude games from the stats, where even just 1 surv DCs?

Or kills himself early on the hook?

Yes all dc matches are exluded no matter does the dc happen late or early. But hook suicides do count in stats as those are sacrifices.

  • @Kosturko92 said:

Yes there can be balance around everything, if there is a will

They can nerf hell out of SWF teams in high mmr if they want, and leave lower mmr intact or even buffed.

They have to implement ranking system and put some restrcitions and nerfs the higher you go.

But i guess there is just not enough will power to do it.

    This would be even fun.

Imagine "Dead Hard" Being locked out of your kit if your above Diamond rank for example, and in the same time basekit kindred buff for lower mmr and so on. This is just one example ( doesn't have to be DH at all ), it can literally be think through what to buff, what to disable and so on, to make perfect balance

So basically you would be punished from playing the game which would most likely lead to major playerbase drop and the game eventually dying. Dbd is not competive game it's not two equal players versus each other it's one powerful vs 4 weaker ones but together strong.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3242996#Comment_3242996

    Why is this absurd?

Every single competitive multiplayer game gets balanced around the top players. Not the bottom ones.

According to the official stats, SC is the most used survivor perk. Do you really want to balance the game around players self caring in the corner of the map?

Yeah 99% of dbd players just take self care in corner... Game should be balanced around most players if you balance around the very best survivor teams only having chance winning it ruins the game for everyone else.

  • @Kosturko92 said:

Avrg kill rate is not the measuerment they should be using. Because people at low ranks die a lot, solo quee dies a lot. A SWF team at high mmr that wants to win cannot lose.

    Make a tournament:

    Random map, best of 5.

Killer 3 kills + hatch or 1 escape = Win

    Survivors 3 escapes = Win

    2 kills 2 escape = Tie

Make this and you will see how unbalanced this game is. DBD should balance the game around top mmr, then everyone will eventually have fun, right now no one is having fun.

This is most absurd thing I ever read. You really think people will have fun when game i balanced around top1% of players? That way those players play is not fun it's boring and stressful.

  • No! Use blood warden if it's so big problem for you.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

A 3 gen does nothing if you're good survivors, base regression is 4x slower and even maxing regression perks survivors are still faster so the killer loses the battle in the end.

And removing gen auras will just make alot more players camp and tunnel because they dont know the location of where people will be.

Solo Q is fine, you dont need to nerf killers all we need is better matchmaking and less entitled players quitting and giving up... there are people who give up verse legion... LEGION..

I agree otherwise but soloQ is not fine.

Ah yes, make it so an iri addon can be COMPLETELY un-counterable.

Counter is don't let him stalk you.

  • Looks like the match not happening.
