I had a game a few months back (even made a thread with postgame comments), where I'd brought streamers and another survivor had brought one of those cakes from last anni.

They had a DC on The Game, on an early first down.

I decided 'okay, let me ease up and make sure they get some BP out of this, ditto myself'. Didn't AFK, but I'd injure and then drop chase.

After about 5 minutes, another survivor DC'd, I killed the third one and gave the 4th hatch.

Postgame I got cussed out massively. 'Just end'. 'Everyone report for taking game hostage'.

    It's a lose/lose, I swear.

Those were some very weird survivors usually when there is early dc survivors come to me like please farm. Well last match I had early kill so one came like that but I don't always in the mood but I would still go easy but that match ended then quickly when all suicided on hook. Last one dc:t before I tried to gave her hatch.

You get 2 bonus prestiges on a character if that character was level 50 and P0, P1, or P2 at the time that 6.1.0 released. The character’s level and prestige level right now is irrelevant; it only matters what they were back at that time. So like you said, someone who was P0 level 50 back then could now jump from P12 to P14.

So for example my Dredge who was already P3 before 6.1.0 (and subsequently got bonus prestiges up to P9 in 6.1.0) wouldn’t get anything. My Oni, who iirc was only level 40 (I don’t play him), wouldn’t get anything. But my Feng who I’d kept at P0 level 50 for ages (I didn’t prestige most characters at all prior to 6.1.0, only a few) would jump from P5 (what she is now) to P7. Had I prestiged her prior to 6.1.0 (and I could’ve since she was lvl 50), I would’ve gotten those 2 bonus prestiges already in 6.1.0.

It seems like some people got the bonuses early and others didn’t. Whether that’s intentional, I don’t know.

I had character P3 before update and they still got 2 prestige levels. But my friends haven't still gotten anything.

  • I got the prestige catch up already and seen others getting it as well.

    Stop tunneling your gens.

You need to stop doing the gen at 33% then move to another gen and do that until all gens are at 33%. Then start working them all to 66%, then get them all to 100%.

Thats the scenario you are saying needs to

You can't tunnel gens and if survivors would have to do that there should be 4 gens but killer would obviously kick and make them regress to 0%. But you never lose hooks as killer imagine hooking someone twice but then they would go back to zero hooks if survivors would do certain action.

  • Killer should go easy and maybe do bit of farming in this situation if there are cakes or party streamers so everyone can get some bloodpoints and it's good opportunity for killer to max out all bp categories. It's fair to kill everyone after that or give one hatch though. Some killers just hard tunnel one out in that situation well that is unfair but then better just move to next game.

  • @Tostapane said:

why are you feeling bad for doing your objective? it's like saying that survivors are sorry for doing generators instead of giving free kills for the killer... i can understand if you are against newcomers that actually treat this game like an actual horror game (LOL), but with regular players? not a chance

Killer can win without tunneling but can survivors win without doing gens?

Banning killers for tunneling is outrageous. Expecting the killer to hook every survivor 3 times, up to a total of 12 hooks, when there's only 1 - 2 generators is insane.

Yes — I agree, it's frustrating and no one likes to be in the receiving end of tunneling. I'll be the first to say I hate tunneling, but it's a necessary evil killer's need to bring the odds back into their favor. If you want to see less tunneling, we need to make killers feel like they don't need to tunnel in the first place. Then afterwards, we can make basekit changes that punish tunneling. You need to address the cause before actively punishing something.

I don't think tunneling is bad thing when you struggle as killer but don't do it at 4-5 gens. I personally do more mini tunnel I go after same survivor can hook them twice in a row but not third time or sometimea when someone on death hook I might decide to take him out now but I have multiple hooks and other survivor on death hook as well so bit of tunneling maybe.

But personally worst thing for me about tunneling is when you loop killer very long and he just wants you. Your team fails and come to try stupid bodyblocks or something and they all go down when last gen in is 90% completed... when they could easily finished it and get all out and maybe even get me out. Also when there is multiple cakes in game no-one enjoys if killer super tunnels I can say it's always blight and nurse other killers actually play more fair...

  • @Bran said:

Tunnelling isn't so cut and dry. There is actual definition to it than just hitting the person who just got unhooked.

My own definition of tunnelling is "Specifically targeting a player for a specific reason and ignoring anything else, most likely to be toxic or mean overall".

An example is going after someone who has ttv in their name since they have ttv in their name. Someone who you believed was toxic i.e. flashlight as pallet or t-bagging.

Not an example is punishing an unhook if they were unhooked in close proximity to you. Essentially a bad unhook. Or going after someone who has already been hooked instead of someone who hasn't if you can choose between 2 people to chase when neither has been the previous chase.

Tunnelling or sometimes re-hooking can be done organically and isn't inherently toxic as is.

Tunneling is just simply going after same survivor once he is unhooked.

  • @Draxlore said:

A killer gets to chose who he/she is going after. If its the same person that just came off the hook....thats the killers decision. the survivors get no say in the matter. End of story.

But which decision should be more worth it for killer. That should be going after unhooker. So Ds should be basekit with 3,5s stun.

In that case I would have just started working on guns

If she didn't move by the time a Gen pops then just keep doing them 1 by 1 until the gates are powered

If she still hadn't moved and the gates are opened then she is either afk or not moving out of spite

She was playing the whole time but I was trying the hatch challenge so I didn't go to do gens but I probably should. But I just gave up as I think it was enough time wasted already.

  • @RonMan32 said:

I think CoH should get a slight nerf, not anything close to what most of these killer mains are asking for. Including you. It shouldn't remove the self care ability, maybe just take a tad longer or you lose progress if interrupted like Haemorrhage except maybe slower. Or both.

And in addition all of the other boons should be buffed. Shadow Step for example should also make pools of blood not last as long and make all pain grunting 15% quieter. Dark Theory gives a 5% haste status effect and lingers for 6 seconds at max. So on.

Shattered Hope can get a buff too if "you guys" want. (You guys not being Killer Mains, specifically Killer Mains who have problems with boons. I play both roles. Snuffing it isn't a big deal. Plus Self-Care might as well be a killer perk, CoH is just a better version of doing that. While they're resetting at their boon go break gens.) Maybe it also makes snuffing 50% faster and shows the Aura of the boon-er for the same duration at any distance.

I agree others boons should get buffs. From COH I would want the healing be bit nerfed when someone else is healing you under it that is slightly too fast still. But other than that it's fine.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a survivor DC or give up on hook when the survivors are winning. It makes no sense why they would. If it happens, maybe they have to quit/leave because something is happening offline.

I have seen it happens but not often. Some matches we solely lost because of that.

Idk man, I've had some good escapes by just hiding all match (because I don't want to take risk of Survivors tbagging so I can progress hatch challenge)

I can understand hiding yeah for that challenge but sometimes there is 2 survivors hiding in the end long time and the game does not go anywhere so that just wastes time. When I did that hatch challenge I had huntress standing on the hatch 30 minutes not closing it but standing in the spot where you can't jump in. Good tactic to get one kill maybe but absolutly not worth it if you have life and in that time she could played 2 games and get 4K:s so just not smart.

  • I think it helps on console but sometimes it fails you. Question is does it help more than it does harm? I think it should be stronger on console and made better and you should be able to adjust it. Pc does not really need it though.

  • Your stats pretty much show killer is OP. Over 85% kill rate is crazy. Your survivor stats are above average and you probably play swf with decent survivors which increase your escape rate compared to someone who plays just soloQ. Would be interesting to see what is your soloQ escape rate.

Average kill rate overall is 61% for all killers so killer is not actually OP but they're certainly stronger than before.

  • It should be made to be activate twice. So if you hook everyone once it activates and do that again it activates again. Also it should show everyone auras not just obsession. It would reward going for 8 hook before finishing anyone off.

They need map pressure more than mobility. Killers like clown tell the entire map that they are currently chasing someone, and anyone not in their TR has the green light to rush the hell out of gens. He would need something that offsets that net negative to map pressure more than a teleport or anything like that. Same with pretty much any killer with global sounds like that, with slinger his lower TR helped when he had that, but currently demo is the only one that really has anything to offset the global safety notifications.

And swf easily tell their friend who is chased it just makes soloQ and swf bit closer.

Yeah, had one of these when i did the challenge. Ghostface camping the closed hatch.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3217760#Comment_3217760

Hell, even if that challenge is harder, it doesnt force you to pretty much throw the game for your teammates to get it somewhat reliably. And again, that challenge itself is just massively out of time based on its requirement only really making sense in the old hatch design era

How long did he camp it? I would personally never do it as it just wastes both survivor and killer time and the time I do that I could 4K multiple games and earn lot of bp so is it's even good tactic like killer mains says... Same is when survivors hide they are going to be found eventually but they just waste everyones time.

  • @Desola said:

    Hi, my name is Desola,

I'm just a regular player, no streamer, no content creator and neither do i consider myself a main of either side. I dont run survivor to bully killers or face camp and tunnel on killer (unless they really ask for it with excessive flashlight clicking). I wanted to make this post as an open letter to the Devs

The actual point of this post: i've recently been just trying to work trough the tomes 1 by 1 and found one rift challenge that really is in dire need of an update due to changes.

Tome 2, Page 3 (cant remember the name right now) "Use a key to open the hatch twice"

This challenge is a relic of the past when the hatch would spawn in closed after a number of generators were fixed, allowing for a 4-Man escape without ever opening the gates. The problem is that with the key/Hatvh rework a little while ago the hatch never spawns in closed anymore, meaning its required to be shut when you're the last survivor standing. There is 2 ways to have that happen

    A) your squad powers the gates and your mates open them and run out. The Problem: most killers at that stage either guard the gate or give up, not close the hatch.

When will killers usually close hatch? When 3 survs have died before the gates could be powered. Which leads to the most effective strategy for this challenge being to essentially throw the game as survivor, avoid the killer for the entirety of the game till your whole team is dead, wait for hatch to be closed and go look for it to unlock it while the killer patrols the gates to find you.

Its fairly clear in my eyes that this is a problem since many people will try to play the most efficient way to finish whichever challenge which in this case leads to miserable experiences for multiple players in the same match on at leadt 2 occasions.

    My proposal to fix this?

Plainly, just replace the challenge with another like escaping through hatch or the sort. Any attempt to fix this without changing the challenge would require a new hatch rework (like: hatch spawns in closed when the engame triggers and only actually opens when only one survivor is left) or something like a perk that lets you open the hatch without key.

I know there is more pressing issues like cheaters but i think a small fix like that would be nice

Also if you try to do it beware some killers might camp the hatch for hours so hope the killer has better things to do. Some just want the 4K desberately.

  • @Adjatha said:

More killers should have insta-kills if the survivors choose to ignore the killer mechanics, refuse to use the obvious locker-avoidance strat, and fail to evade the killer in the end game where it's finally charged up.

Honestly, charging up an auto-kill through killer action and survivor failures should've been what the mori rework should've been instead of the 'all four down' cherry-on-the-top thing we got.

Nah only Myers deserves it and has to actually work for it. If you want game to be super killer sided and wait 30 minutes in queque then yeah your suggestion could work.

  • Yeah few times and it shows killer also dc:t.

If you are playing against survivors that are not incredibly bad at the game idk how you can just game with her as an m1, like how on earth do people go down to m1 killers without wasting like 3 gens worth of chase time?

You'll be surpriced if you ever play m1 killer people go very fast down.

This got pretty good reception on reddit so I figured I would drop it here.

    Main points:

    1. Add on strength is included
    2. Playing against a swf with comms is assumed
    3. Killer playing PERFECTLY with their best build is assumed (ie sadako with iri tape, bubba with double chili)

    Tier explanations:

S - The best of the best. These killers will allow you to defeat comp teams consistently if you put in the hours. You can 4k even if the survivors do everything right.

A+ - These killers are very strong and tough to counter. They have some oppressive add ons and can feel impossible to beat in solo queue, or for less skilled survivors. They have counterplay, but it is thin and conditional. They see middling to good results in comp play against the best of the best

A - These killers have oppressive strengths in their specific area. (ie pyramid head at any flat loops, huntress in the open, oni and plague in snowball situations, hag in a 3 gen.) HOWEVER, they are hampered by one of two weaknesses. 1. No mobility or 2. Power is conditional and not always available

B - These killers have defined strengths, and good opportunity for skill expression. However, they also have defined weaknesses that make them easy to bully for an experienced swf. With enough skill, it is possible to consistently win with these guys. But you might have some painful games.

C - This tier is reserved for killers that suffer from m1/no mobility disease. Totally destroyed by normal, good survivor play (spreading out, staying separated on gens, and good looping)

In the case of billy, he is here because of overheat, bad add ons, too many nerfs over time, and being awful on new maps.

D - You will be in constant pain with these killers. What strong add ons they do have are very conditional. You are almost entirely dependent on survivors messing up.

Feel free to discuss! I am willing to answer any questions about placements!

I think Oni is B agains't good survivors unless you are very good at him. As agains't optimally playing swf using map offering you will take lot of time to get first hit and once you get your power all gens are pretty much done. But however good Oni can slug all of them with one use of his power in the end.

  • Well I can say I will never switch platform unless cross-progression is added. I have played too much.

  • @SunsetSherbet said:

Other survivors are to blame for that in the vast majority of my matches. Not the killer tunneling and camping. It's people DCing/suiciding at the drop of a hat and turning a game into a 5 gen 3 v 1

In my matches when im tunneled my teammates came take hit and go down in less than 10s and then killer just continues tunneling. Worst thing was that my teammate went down in pallet when I had still otr on and while I had to drop that pallet my character instead started healing I still wanted to save otr for later hit but now teammate helped killer to tunnel and gave him even free down.

Butcher it? You are vastly underestimating how strong CoH is.

Furthermore, again, 60% is the GOAL for killrates by the devs. I can see why since there a lot survivors can do to immediately lose a game (giving up on first hook, solo queuing (base Kindred when?), or generally just bad luck and having someone die early.) ONE person not pulling their weight can kill everyone else. So yeah, kill rates should be between 2 and 3, typically on the lower side of 2, which 2.4 is.

Both these things were nerfed when base BT was added and buffed. If you want bring perks into the equation, then while DS was nerfed, we still have OtR to ensure the killer has to power through some sort of defense to tunnel, AND had Reassurance added to nerf camping .

I would't use bad luck reason to buff kill rates. Killers have bad luck all the time too losing games.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3214748#Comment_3214748

So... there is no evidence. I'm inclined to think that the tv/monitor or other factors would have a bigger contribution than the actual platform. If there are any actual input delay tests for the game though I'd love to see them.

I have good tv with very low imput lag other games work just fine. Just went down to oni when pressed dh clearly before hit he was even pretty far away. On pc that would not happen I can say.

  • Yeah and I hate that it always gives it on killers I don't want to play. I always get challenge on hag or deathslinger and soon I end up having 3 challenges then not completed. Then I also get dailies which don't seem to work (michael and demo).

  • I used to expect agitation and insidious from bubba but now they only use bamboozle and don't even facecamp. From spirit I expect haunted ground. From Nurse startruck...

Survivor side I expect jake to run saboteur and all you mentioned.

  • @Dead_Harder said:

I noticed i stopped even slightly caring about the daily quests or bp incentives after the prestige rework and bloodweb price reduction (which btw, great job BHVR)

Feels like they did a too well of a job with reducing grind that the incentives for BP stopped working. Any one else in the same boat?

Nah now it's even bigger of deal to earn more bp so you get more stuff. I don't have motivation to play long games as killer when there is no cakes or bp bonus so I end them quickly and play more survivor at days when it's 100% bonus all the time. But when it's on killer I make sure to use it.

  • @Gandor said:

Yes. But I question why they want the game to favor killers. It makes 0 sense to me. Why is it ok for multiplayer game to favor one side? I really don't know what the are the devs thinking

Because then it will be closer in top mmr where survivors escape usually and killer can only get 1-2K and 3-4K if survivors mess up if they don't play top killers.

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3216055#Comment_3216055

Like I said when used correctly it's ok even face camping. But not when it's at like 5 Gens or you have no reason to tunnel someone out ie the one player with CoH.

Banning Killers on those grounds WILL cause them to stop playing. If I was banned for camping and Tunneling at end game and couldn't get it reversed I would quit the game at that point because of the confirmation about it's use and when I wasn't using it as a toxic behavior.

Well even survivor mains have to agree that when all gens are done what else killer is supposed to do than camp. Though sometimes if you play aggressively there is chance you can win in endgame as survivors expect you to camp. I downed many survivors carelessly trying to open exit gates.

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3215942#Comment_3215942

Yea but they have a point though. If they did start banning on Tunneling, camping, etc alot of Killers would stop playing because we have been told it's a valid Strat by Mods and Devs.

There are times where Tunneling and Camping should be used but not during 5 gens left that sort of thing.

Camping and tunneling needs to be made less viable eventhough camping can be weak tactic if survivors are smart. But agains't bad survivors it's good tactic. Had game were my intention was not to camp but I had to do something quickly and left my killer to facecamp and when I started to play again I immediatelly got grap and another down quickly. I resumed to normal gameplay after that but it gave me the momentum for easy win.

I agree, problem is they spend the whole last gen jumping over windows trying to get my attention when I give up at 1 gen left.

I had something like that to happen to me when I played wraith without any slow down and last gen was on shack 90% done I ended up getting kill though and some hooks but they just wanted to mess around.

  • Too many to choose unfortunately. But just had one game lasting very long as my teammates just crouched on corner or something and didn't do gens agains't vad huntress. Well as I was effient ok gens and chase 2 of my teammates managed to escape the ones who hide the most and were not even hooked once.

  • Let's put it like this tunneling fine at 2-1 gens. Tunneling not fine 4-5 gens. Tunneling at 3 gens idk. This is logic I personally try to use.

  • For me they seem to be pretry fine I get hit throught pallets and I get hit as survivor through pallets too. But sometimes when I respect pallets I get somehow stunned even im far away from it but it happens very rarely so I don't complain though.

And why would they nerf Wesker? Because he's fun? The guy you are directing your response to has exaggerated quite a bit. Wesker is definitely not a top 3 killer. Maybe top 7, but even with that statement I would be careful.

Just bored of him and don't find him fun to face at least the infection should be slowed so his tunneling ability is not too good. Killers like oni could use buff for example to start with his power as good teams don't give your hits easily but in most games you get the power very quickly agains't normal survivors. Well maybe just small delay that you get it automatically if you don't get hit in first 30s.

  • @DBD78 said:

"with the right perks I think he has potential"

Potential of being mediocre yes. You can make a case for all killers having potential but some are good and others like Bubba is, not that good.

I think he is decent with right perks and if you know how tocuse his power. Even just facecsmp bubba quarantees 2K agains't effient teams on gens ig you just get one down quickly and with deadlock and noed uou could be getting 3K.

  • @6659Leg said:

Well until other killers are up to par, you'll be seeing wesker for a good while since he's the next best thing if you don't Want to roll with nurse or blight.

Buff other killers and nerf wesker should be solution then.

That debends heavely how bad game. Just had game where looped nemesis long and last gens popped and my teammate could saved me but decided to tank hit for someone who was killed at exit gate who was going to get hooked and just left when he had lot of time to save me. Bad teammates are worser than getting bullied by swf for sure.

  • @Kunuto said:

Well, some people would for sure punish people that did not deserve it, but still, I think the one using such an item also should be able to take it away from whoever.

If the solution is not to use such item then such items are worthless anyways.

Same as if playing as survivor, and the other survivors does not do unhooks that would have been safe and easy. (When I play killer I punish selfish survivors that leave people on hook when they had plenty of room to unhook them, it's kinda funny because often they hide on the other side the map from the hooked survivor, and that is how I find them and then they die)

The dealer of a bonus BP item should be able to refuse any player from getting that bonus. Sometimes people would abuse that sure, but it would still make these items more fun to use. Instead of using one as survivor and then being tunneled down as the first one before getting anything done. It's just a ######### feeling, and one should be able to counter that with cutting off that bonus BP from whoever.

Well only thing I could imagine working fairly is that you only get the bonus as survivor if you are tunneled out and if 3 or more escapes you are the only one getting bonus as killer. Killers would go for hooks and survivors would not gen rush hard. But better option is just to make tunneling and camping unviable tactics and give killer better control protecting gens and avoid gen rush or just more chase power in general.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3213826#Comment_3213826

Do you have evidence of this? Because there should not be anywhere near that much input delay difference between the two platforms, especially since "console" is extremely vague and different consoles will generally have different input delays. You can react to lunges on any platform, but none of them can react to normal M1's, nor are you supposed to. You make reads on when the person is going to swing and press your button when you commit to that guess.

It's my personal experience and many console players agree on it. When I play killer pc survivors can react to just anything sometimes and even baiting out does not work. But when I play agains't console survivors it's easy to bait. When I play survivor and press it before killer hits I go sometimes down.

  • People would use it even if someone was not unsportman so flans could not work like that. Best thing what you can do is to not use them. That way there is no bonus bp for gen rushing survivors or tunneling and camping killers. I sometimes take the risk as killer but then I also bring my strongest add ons like mother daughter with spirit or compound 33 as blight.

Myers is actually pretty fun. His only issue is the early game + he is a pure M1. Besides this, he is fine, different playstyles etc..

Compared to other killers, they should receive changes first.

Myers should never run out of stalk if that gets buffed then he is pretty fine.
