  • Not free survivors can pull of save with bit of coordination.

Good question. The game engine has the ability to detect if you're doing a protection hit. There's also a score event for it.

I'd say have ds only activate after 2 seconds of getting unhooked so you don't unintentionally get sla protection hit and losing DS while the other survivor is still next to you immediately after getting unhooked.

But it can detect any hits as protection when being close to teammates in chase so that not reliable at all. Killer could be tunneling and other survivor trying to help. Read what Reinami suggest's.

It doesn't unfortunately. That is why my suggestion in a different thread was that they remove the basekit BT/endurance, and simply give the survivor 0 hitbox and collision. So you can just swing right through them.

  • Well it's neccessary for many weaker killers and agains't good teams. Maybe there could be limit that before survivors have done 150% gen proggress survivor could have basekit 7s ds. But at 3 gens and less completely fair to tunnel.

  • Do you just want free escape? It's endgame killer should be able to use whatever way neccessary to get kills.

Increase your MMR. When you reach a different level, it wont be that easy anymore.

Does it even affect mmr actually if you intentionally lose some games like for me it seems ramdon I either get good teams after good teams after losing and bad teams after winning. I just wonder does it matter much if you lose or win?

  • @ChuckingWong said:

This is honestly where I am at with playing, especially during events. Survivor, at least SoloQ, is just becoming more and more of a dice roll on the outcome of the match. Very little to do with anything you are personally doing to ensure any fun or escaping. Everything up to ... just chance. There are SO many systems that just are not in place to restrict bad actors on the killer side of things, or even your own teammates, from completely ruining your experience.

This is something that Texas Chainsaw does so much better. Where you can play Solo and not have this MASSIVE reliance on what your team is doing.

On the killer side of things, if you understand how to play the game at a decent level, you have to start restricting yourself if you actually want a challenge. And even when you do, you still win a majority of your games to the point of it being a full stomp. You have to use one of the weaker killers... go in with no addons, maybe dont take certain perks, to really have a chance at losing as killer.

Might be time to revisit TCM, because this game is just going in a direction, especially with the latest killer changes, and addition, that the game is just a bit silly now.

This game is still survivor sided if you're team is decent and does Gens. After all it's 1vs4. Agains't average survivors it can be easy to win on killer but not agains't good teams. Even average survivors still should beat you if you restrict yourself on average killer and don't play close to optimally. Or maybe pc killers can win no matter what. Killer is really clunky on console.

But I agree tcm is better balanced survivors don't have so many chances they die instantly when you get them and it's 3vs4. I almost never lose on family if my team is decent. It's definetely more killer sided than dbd and why would not it be when killer has team instead being all alone. After playing tcm it's hard to play killer on dbd again. Family is so easy on tcm and pressure free.

I win still good amount of my games in victim too with my buddy. But ramdom victims often are worser than dbd so yeah it's good you don't have to rely on them like on dbd. But we often win because family plays unoptimally, example they play johnny and sissy instead hitch and cook.

On dbd I just escaped 3 times a row on soloQ because my teammatew knew somewhat what to do. We got sweaty killers P100 huntress for example and we destroyed her just by doing gens. Then beat even blight who tunneled.

  • It's 1vs4 so the 1 has to had some advantages to make it more fair.

  • Well for me bp is good still as I try to get new killer and survivor to P3. Then I can focus getting someone to P100 but I don't really need it either like you I have earned almost 600 million bp overall well maybe it will be nice to hit 1 billion bp some day.

Congratulations! You have discovered the circular argument. I'm very proud of you.

Also your last paragraph was the whole point of my original post regarding time wasting b.s in game, though I wouldn't call my example a false equivalence so much as an actual equivalence and you failed to actually address what I said beyond the ever tiresome "both sides".

There was no "us vs them" in my original post either, but here's some.

IS IT MORE COMMON FOR SURVIVORS TO GET BLED OUT OR MAKE THE KILLER WAIT OUT THE ENTIRE EGC TIMER?

It's a simple question, which is more common in-game?

Slugging to bleed out is bigger problem and more common for me. I usually force survivors out without waiting. But not always when I don't they have left more than 90% of time and only few times someone has waited the whole timer. Now I could forced them out so not like I had to wait unlike when im slugged to ground 4 minutes and can't do anything.

If it helps you can just skip past the pip thing and it'll have a near zero impact on your game. I have never looked at or cared about the pip or emblem screen. Just skip straight to the interesting part: seeing what your opponent was running.

It's still does not change how frustating mechanics it is. All for literally nothing as grades don't affect matchmaking like ranks so the mechanic is not needed. Grades are supposed to show playtime not how much you sweat.

  • Agreed it needs to go ruins the game for me.

  • No both are fine. With gen kicking you can mindgame survivors often expect grap so they let go of it and you can kick gen. Worst case is you get hit at least. Heal tech is fine like that last fun thing survivors have left. It does not really matter at all. There are much bigger things needing fixing.

I dont think they would nerf Blight & Nurse basekit, nerfing addon maximum, which they already do. God Nurse is guarantee lose to play against, but most are find with basekit Blight & Nurse.

The only problem is its not choosing one out of two:

    1. Should I use strong power, but not able to tunnel
    2. Or I have ability to tunnel, but have weak power

    But rather:

    1. Should I tunnel using strong power
    2. Or I tunneling using weak power.

Most killers' powers are fine by their own, but no matter how strong their power are, they would tunnel with that power because its even more effective because there is no down side. We already see alot of tunneling Blight, or even Nurse. Its more leaning to tunneling part rather than killer's power.

So that's why nurse and blight needs nerf as they're not planned to do that. Both are planned to chase multiple survivors. With weak killers tunneling is balanced maybe even hard.

  • @Crowman said:

The solution is survivors do gens while someone is being chased. Someone being tunneled out at 5 gens is the fault of the survivors, because it's already possible for 2-3 gens to be completed by the end of the first chase.

More fault of bad matchmaking game should put best agains't best. I see P100 killers tunneling on weak soloQ all the time they should be put agains't P100 swf who some reason get often worse killers.

  • Nerf killers who are too good at tunneling blight, nurse etc. Put best killers agains't best survivors so make better matchmaking. Then see if that makes it more balanced ds back to 5s should be done too.

  • @sinkra said:

It's no surprise people are playing in the most effective way possible to win. If it's a problem the blame isn't on killers, it's on devs for making tunneling and camping so effective.

Yup and feels like othet stragedies has lost their effectiveness even more. Before it felt you could won playing fairly without it being that ineffective.

  • Not good I haven't escaped in literal week starting last saturday. If I don't escape tomorrow it will be first week I ever didn't escape since I started playing. Today I had couple chances to end this streak but I helped my teammates which got me killed and killer had tunnel vision on me too looped him 4 gens after first was completed before. I have also played off meta builds and had 3 off days from dbd.

Thank you :) but gotta ask what have nancys done to you :D

Sadly yes and you can only get it with auric cells. Seems best skins are always licenced one oni skin I also like was too recently.

  • @Atom7k said:

Alltough they add new content regularly and the new chapter looks amazing, it didn't even took 5 matches for it to feel stale and boring again.

Why is that you may ask? Well let's look at the current situation. A new player join's dbd he get's maybe 5 starter games before mmr screws him over and sells him out to a killer with more experience then the whole team has. They get stomped into the ground and made fun of in the endgame chat.

I've seen it, I've even tested it with a new account. It's just so disgusting.

If that was your first impression of the game when you started you probably would've put it aside too. Eventually after 2 weeks you even forget about the game alltogether and never play it again. That's what happened to a lot of my friends when I tried to bring them into dbd. It wasn't even my presence that made the match mmr bad for new players. They played on their own more then with me but the experience was the same.

So dbd can attract new players but can't really keep them. This means a constant decrease of players over time.

Now onto the current situation for veteran players. I don't really know how we ended up here but currently I blame streamers partially for it. Popular players like Otz and others made a whole marketing strategy to sell tunneling as a strategy to the average person. Tunneling is normal in competitive dbd but has never been as present in normal dbd as it is today. It was so normalized that people don't even feel bad about it anymore when they made bad decisions the whole match and then "won back the game" by tunneling and camping. That is not what the entity wants according to lore.

People are proud of themself when they won a match against solo-q survivors by tunneling and camping. When has it come this far. It's just sad

So currently active players are beyond annoyed as they have to face killers tunneling at 5 gen's almost every game now. It's tiring, boring and draining. All killer feels the same because they are played the same way with almost similar builds.

So players take a break for a weak, come back to find out it's still the same, go on another break for a month, nothing changes, they are gone for years or even for good.

This game will have a rapid end if the matchmaking is not improved and tunneling is put to an end.

There is nothing wrong in tunneling if you make mistake and survivors get upper hand. It's often only way left to try get some kills maybe win but that requires survivors to do mistakes and then killer also did great comeback. What is not balanced is tunneling at 5 gens that I can agree and it takes all the fun away from the game.

I used to hate Fengs because they were usually the most toxic to go against. Then they came out with the Bunny cosmetics and they somehow became the most wholesome cutie pies that made me want to let them all live.

Even as survivor, I found the Bunny Fengs would usually go out of their way to help someone. They softened my heart and I no longer hate them.

Mikaela is now the object of my hate along with Nancy. Ohhh how I hate Nancy mains.

Do you hate me im bunny feng main but also nancy main :(

  • I prefer 60% kill rate but im 50/50 player now and play less and less survivor. M1 killers are still weak and need more buffs so I think getting it up to even 65% is fine. Survivors have more fun games if not always facing best killers with OP powers they should be nerfed bit.

  • @Xernoton said:

What? He now actually has 3 good addons?

    This is great.

    That's something...

  • I might get this skin but only when it can bought with shards looks sick.

  • Im hoping 2vs4 or whatever just need 2 killer mode. Survivor is just not fun with friends anymore so we need another mode. Well I can always play with my friend killers in tcm but I like dbd unique gameplay.

  • @Scarletprince15 said:

If you do penalty for this, can we make penalty for survivors that wait until the end of the timer on the exits when there's nobody in danger? Or maybe even better; permit the killer to give up once the doors are open.

Give up button for both killer and survivor 😀.

  • Yeah I have waited with my friend ages we just got full lobby but one ramdom dodged us 😢. So we're still waiting...

  • Smaller differences as I though well that confirms game is bit killer sided even in high mmr. Though 4 man would escaped well above 50% in high mmr. I would expect kill rate to be lower around 55-58% overall. SoloQ kill rate I would expected to be even higher.

  • @Xernoton said:

I wouldn't use it and I'd mute it by default. I am not going to listen to some 13 year olds screaming slurs into their vacuum cleaner or telling me about the things they will supposedly do to my family members and I reckon I am not alone.

This however would put me and my entire team at a disadvantage because the game would need to balanced accordingly. It would only open up more ways for solo queue to be awful and destroy any traces of balance that we have in this game. There is also such a thing as a language barrier and background noise. If someone is not fluent in English (or whatever other language would be used to communicate) then the voice chat wouldn't help them at all and they'd be at the same disadvantage as someone, that has it muted. Background noise would also cover important ingame sounds like cues that a killer has fully charged their power etc.

There are a lot of reasons why a voice chat has literally never fixed the solo queue issues in any game. A chat wheel would be way less prone to any of these flaws.

I agree and I think chat wheel would be best option you can then communicate good enough without it breaking immersion of the game.

I wonder why people are not combining it since one of the strong points of DS is the ability to use Dead Hard again. I wonder as much as the players who bring self-care by itself without Botani.

You have to expect killer not to be smart when using ds with dh. I always expect dead hard if I get hit by ds and maybe few times out I have been dumb and hit the survivor immediatelly and they actually got value from dh.

  • @Xernoton said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3648930#Comment_3648930

But i just don't bite the "Killers won't tunnel if they were power role" thing.

Both sides love to win and there are some ways to make winning easier. You are definitely right, that buffs alone will not make the problem disappear. But I fear that as long as there are cases in which tunneling is simply the only option to compete (rare but they do exist) even a 10 seconds DS wouldn't fix the issue. After all, there is no greater advantage than to eliminate 1 survivor.

I'll say something that is a bit controversial here: If DS left the killer stunned for 20 seconds, then tunneling would become the go to strategy for absolutely everyone. Because survivors would force it on the killer (pre 6.1.0 style) and put them at a significant disadvantage that they could only balance out by doubling down and eliminating that survivor. This is of course very exaggerated but you get the point.

This is why I think it needs both incentives not to tunnel and penalties for tunneling. If tunneling became less efficient and spreading hooks became more efficient at the same time, then killers would have a good reason to avoid tunneling.

There was counters for survivors abusing ds like slugging so that was not really problem expect when you could still fix gens ds activate whenever that was case...

  • @Akumakaji said:

My Problem with the game from the killers perspective right now is, how absolutely easy and without consequences it is for survivors to split up and tackle gens separately.

When you startle a survivor and they run away early, its a tough choice: chase them for maybe a minute because of the head start and because it's the first chase, ie all resources are still up, or break chase and have them back on the gen the second you turn your back on them. All the while three other gens are getting worked at.

Spreading pressure is easier said rhenium done and depends on survivors getting spooked when you hit them. Seasoned veterans will jump back on gens the second you give them the opportunity, and survivors who prioritise gens before friends are a nightmare for the killer, who put such immense pressure on those poor sods.

I don't really have a solution, but having three gens popping even after a good first chase is freaky disheartening, because it puts the killer in such a bad spot. At this point, with only 2 gens left and 3 healthy survivors, tunneling is often the best solution: it offers the only way how the killer can pressure the survivors and maybe tunneling will lead to one or two other survivors taking protection hits, opening themselves up for retaliation.

A possible solution could be to penalise the repair speed of be first 3 gens, ie so that the right play wouldn't be anymore to split up completely separately, but in two teams of 2. This would lessen the stress on the killer a lot and might actually lead to some more fun games that don't feel like speed running. After 3 gens pop, this debuff would go away and allow survivors unrestricted repair speed on the last gens.

Compensation could come in the form of hard anti tunneling, ie if the killer downs a recently unhooked survivor while at 4 or 5 gens, they get both, a free UB and an auto DS, incentivising the killer to spread hooks in the early game. Other techniques could be a revival of the old BBQ BP bonus as a basekit mechanic, but only increasing the multiplier while all 4 survivors are alive.

Slowering solo gens speed and buffing gen speed when working together could help in that problem. I've seen many use corrupt invertion it's great perk to avoid quick 3 gen pop.

  • @mikewelk said:

Tunneling is the main reason people give up on solo queue. Some could argue it's camping, but why would you camp if you don't want to tunnel? Tunneling in itself is a viable strategy but it comes to a point where tunneling at five gens, unprovoked, is getting normalized. It kills any motivation to play the game. Tunneling is so common that if it doesn't happen I get surprised that I'm literally experiencing a once normal game of DBD.

Agreed 100% it's too common there needs to be alternative way more viable stragedy for killers. But at the moment feels tunneling has just gotten easier and easier. Ds should definetely brought back to 5s with 80s timer.

This is a change I’m not particularly against, in my opinion Blight, Billy, and oni in power should all have 40m, I would like to see it been made into a pattern. Although I’m not sure on the implications of it, it doesn’t seem to matter that much to weaker, in fact it seems to benefit at times, but Billy is FAR from broken, learning counter play is always important though;)

Oni's power is very limited and got nerfed so no more nerfs for him. He should be buffed to get his power more easily in the beginning of the match.

Yes, but keep in mind the disconnects and suicides on hook.

Survivors don't do that against Freddy. Certainly not as often as they do it with Skull Merchant.

In my matches no-one gives up but skull merchant is oppressive that she wins anyway. I don't remember ever escaping agains't her after rework she has whole map covered with drones and she can now camp every gen instead just 3.

  • @jesterkind said:

Something to remember here is that a fair amount of people still just give up immediately when they see the Skull Merchant, and if the forums are to be believed, more than that number play intentionally badly to be out of the match ASAP. That's going to mess with her kill rate on top of nightlight not being 100% reliable.

Largely she seems fine to me. I don't mind the idea of hacking a drone removing one stack, though, that seems pretty fair- encourages the power interaction a little more without severely harming her ability to get work done.

No she has million of drones she is not fine. She is somehow even worser than before.

Survivors already have basekit BT to prevent being tunnel straight off unhook. There's not really more than can be done for survivors, because the survivor is the 4 man team and the killers main objective is to kill them.

You know that's not true lot more could be done. More was done before to ecourage killers to not tunnel with old ds...

  • 2 killer mode it can be prop hunt too but make the kills count as sacrifices to entity so xbox players get them on stats.

    • If you see a player has a red bar, but it's switching on and off = not as good connection for that player and the opponent
    • If you see someone with a constant red bar = VPN and/or horrible connection for that player and the opponent

Same as we worried about "new players", but only if they are survivors. New killer player? Oh, remember this, this this and that, don't do this and this, also you will be punished by this and that.

It’s a game where you’re trying to hunt and capture the Survivors. You don’t have to be a jerk killer like slugging and holding the game hostage, but you have absolutely no obligations to the Survivors; don’t be a doormat for toxic-minded people who decide how you should play. If you want to keep tabs on how not to hurt someone’s feelings then I’d reconsider playing a role called “Killer” and play Survivor instead so you can cater to them. All you have to do is just play the game and not hold the game hostage or do unnecessary things just because (I.e. like hitting on hook or slugging and not hooking anyone just to bleed them out). The game has 2 roles, you decide how you play them, because on the Survivor side of the spectrum the grass is not greener I can assure you.

You should not either tell he should not play killer just because he plays friendly way. Some people think other players experience that's ok you can do that or not. But I do know that if players think others experience a bit it will make the game better. Now accidental tunneling is something which obviously goes bit too much worrying. At some point you have to think your own experience ofcourse.

I don't tunnel and I still get the results I explained depending on the killer I run.

The thing is, 4 survivors doing gens is powerful and even if one dies, it slows the progress down a lot and snowballs from there unless the other 3 pick up the pace. And in my experience, it's not very often after the first death that they do.

    You're just proving my point.

  • @ChaosWam said:

I agree with the 40/60 rule in terms of DBD strength.

Problem right now as I see it, is most of my games on either survivor or killer are either a 4k or a 0k, it's rare in between unless killers do things the community seems to hates like tunneling, proxy camping, etc. And I don't particularly think it's a perk or killer power issue, I see them as more balanced than they were a few years back.

If anything I think maps need better balancing in some cases.

It's rarely in between if killers tunnel that result 4K most of the time and sometimes 0K when they choose wrong target. More fair but smartly playing killers usually get 2-3K resulting most balanced games.

  • It would help tremendously as it lessens tunneling viability a lot so lot of killers would stop using it and those who continue to tunnel would get somewhat punished.
