Terrible playing soloQ in christmas is worst thing you can do to yourself. Only no life killers play at the moment and you get matched agains't them and when you play killer same happens and only try hard swf:s.

In many maps gates spawn right side by side and killer can patrol then just turning his head that's what you want right?
That's exactly what I want. If I kill 3 survivors at 5 gens and close hatch, why should the last survivor have a chance to escape when they did 0 gens just because I closed hatch? If hatch never spawned and survivors still had to finish all gens, the last survivor would die 99.99999% of the time.
Hatch stand off only exist if killer wants to waste incredible amount of time.
False. Hatch stand off exists when both sides wants to waste an incredible amount of time. The survivor can come die any time and is equally guilty in prolonging the game. Why is it wrong for the killer to want a kill as much as the survivor wants to escape?
Kills or escapes should not be automatically quaranteed it's fine how it is now.
Not automatic in the slightest. As I said in my post, it is merely giving an equal outcome for both sides. Survivor gets an escape when they find the hatch. Why doesn't killer get the equivalent, which is a kill, when they find the hatch?
Also, if I kill 3 survivors at 5 gens, I've already worked for my overwhelming victory. Hatch is a pity mechanism that survivors literally did nothing to deserve.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3614821#Comment_3614821
Great! Then I close hatch and come kill you.
So survivor should give killer the kill. That's not how it's going to work. It's intended killer closes hatch when finding it. Killer already won no need to be entitled for 4K and that's still usually the result what happens naturally 80% of time without delaying the game forever.
If you win 5 gens remaining you are in wrong match you never should be matched agains't survivors much below your skill level.

Fam, if I get 3 kills along with finding the hatch (which is a 50/50), I DESERVE THE FOURTH.
It's so ridiculous that this can even be defended. Imagine if the Killer had a button to press that randomly appeared on the map after 5 gens were done, and there was a 50% chance one of the survivors just had a heart attack and died upon pressing it.
Is silly. I did my job, why does someone get a free escape?
Killer has usually very high chance for one kill in the game so that's already fair survivirs has small chance for one escape in lost game. I think 2vs1 in this game should use some rework. Tcm did that better you can complete objective and escape from exit being only survivor left.

Yeah, he did it alone while his team took the chases and the hooks. Its not really hard to be on a gen while others occupy the killer.
But you cannot simply transfer that to other survivors, because they didnt have the freedom to do that. In the end, the team result is what matters, not who did how much about it.
In end killer gets 8 hooks but 0 kills and if other survivors did something they should at least get 4 almost 5 gens done but still die.
-
I hope 2vs8 that just best mode overall. But zombie tag sounds very fun too.
-
I think it's better now still bit survivor sided but that's fine as most maps are becoming killer sided where soloQ players has no chance.

Yes, i used to play a lot on him and after a series of terrible matches, I still can't find strength to play for him again :D
Tbf, at the same time, he is solo destroyer. If locker rng allows you to have a good map pressure and you know how to use it, solo players just can't keep up with it. But like against good SWF he feels like Tier F killer.
He definately should spawn more lockers across the map, Haddie's calendar should be basekit and maybe increase walking speed while holding remnant. I would like to see some addons buff/rework as well.
No need to increase walking speed on remnant as his only counter is hold W but you should automatically look at the survivor when you teleport to it like hag.

Because we used to have ranks to accommodate matchmaking people of a similar skill level. Ranks were removed in favour of SBMM to make games more “loose”. They never reworked the pipping however and just slapped bonus BP on it to give it some significance
But it still makes players to try hard, feel bad when losing and makes the game hyper competive. Depips should be removed if it's just party game? Im fine doubling or tripling the amount the pips then to get on the red grade.

So, you think that in matches that end with you losing you are op?
I am pretty sure very few players would consider a killer op just because he is constantly in chases and damaging gens, despite not getting a down or a hook. Because chase time is not a metric anyone uses.
But thats basicly what you are doing, you just choose a metric that noone else uses to measure your "effectiveness" and ignore the actual outcome of the match.
IF thats ok for you, yeah, then feel op, but dont think that many people will share your view.
He got 3 gens done alone that would equal 8 hooks on killer without kill pretry much.

It is a party game, not a competitive game. There are no official win conditions. Just escape/kills that highten your MMR. And that MMR just has a soft cap, that’s it. Your “reward” would be prestiging, that’s it. Ofherwise you have picked the wrong game.
Then why depips are still in game?

So at what point did the devs say you must do X or Y? Players surprisingly have agency in the trial. If you play "fair" (completely subjective) your making a conscious choice and should know the risk of doing so. Survivors run a similar risk in that the killer may punish survivors for playing "fair", in this case doing things other than gens. Both sides of one coin, its up to the players to play how they want and hope they have some empathy. Think of it this way, the devs are making a playground and us children can do whatever in said playground till they see us making some kinda problem which they then need to fix so it dont happen again. How successful they are doing that we can all debate all day. Theres a point where the players are to blame and if people keep complaining, the devs are going to end up railroad how everyone plays.
Having a good time is abit subjective but normally for one side to win, the other has to lose.
Tunneling is not problem neccesarily but it's viability is. It's too superior to other stragedies and very simple. So there is no reason to choose other options than being nice or wanting to show skill expression. Focusing on 2 survivors is maybe only reasonable one but why even do that? Empathy is my weakness I would probably tunnel every game without it and take my wins. It's playground with one good toy to choose...

Yes. That would be true. Choosing not to tunnel and slug is a handicap to yourself, but if you have any care at all about player experience, you won’t play that way because it’s miserable to be the victim of.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3613801#Comment_3613801
I am aware.
But isn't that the devs job to do player experience better not killers? What about killer experience if you play fair survivors will play hard and punish you. Gen rush and bodyblock etc which really is miserable experience when you handicapped yourself. That what is usually forgotten killer is player too and just want to win or have good time.
Here's another argument I heard we are killers not survivor friends and killers don't play fair but kill mercilessly. Many take roleplaying seriously and want to get really into the character so choose to play as hard they can some even enjoy it when survivors has bad experience. So relying on killers playing fair is not what should be done and how game should be balanced...
Anyway I think devs should do something about tunneling maybe bring old ds stun back with longer timer 60s is quite short. Then give killers boost they need and some incentives to play more fair way. For now it's like killers responsibility to play fair to offer survivors good experience. Yeah it's boring to tunnel and tunnel but unfortunately it remains best way to win.
So im gonna keep using it when I want to win and play only fair after some wins as it's ok to me get then bullied and have bad games. So I take account player experience I deserve some good games and give survivors some good games. But it might be mistake as if we killers did tunnel every game maybe it actually would be considered problem and fixed.

The “win streaks” don’t carry much weight to me, after seeing the winstreak style of gameplay.
Congratulations, you hard tunneled and slugged at 5 gens using all slowdown in pub matches. More than half the games have people just immediately give up and go next.
Not impressed. Without that style of gameplay, regardless of the killer, the streaks would be nowhere near as high.
So the playstyle is too good? Shouldn't every killer just tunnel/slug every game to win and doesn't that mean with other playstyles you handicap yourself? It's kinda surpricing that tunneling is not more common how superior it is?

Here's an example in a game i JUST played.
So i intentionally was playing nice. Trying to go for chases and go for multiple hooks on everyone. I hook a guy near a gen at like 80%, there were 3 gens left for them to do. I leave the hook, start chasing someone else. The guy gets unhooked right. So i turn to look over, and he IMMEDIATELY hops on that gen at 80%. Meaning i now KNOW he doesn't have OTR, he doesn't have DS, he doesn't have BT, he has nothing. He is still injured, and he isn't healing.
In this situation, i chose not to go for him, because i was intentionally playing nice. I ended up still getting a win that game anyway, and that isn't what is important. The point i'm making is. If i had gone after that guy, and punished him for his mistake there. I would have been called out, called a "tunneler trash killer" etc. So my point is. Why is it ok for survivors to do what the guy did, but the killer punishing that guy is suddenly some kind of grand injustice? I'm merely pointing out the double standard here and wondering why most people aren't seeing it.
If you can do gen you aren't getting tunneled. People with common sense would not call you for tunneling and in this case you handicapped yourself purposelly but you won anyway.

This isn't really a solo queue issue you describe here, is it? It's more the matchmaking that is inconsistent. And honestly, even with tunneling being such a big deal right now I'd argue that solo queue is in a better spot in comparions to SWFs than it was in the past. It's not great but the HUD really helps to keep the overall efficiency of many solo survivors up, which fixes one of the worst issues in solo queue. Objective progression being too slow.
There is not a whole lot that can be done, because as you said any advantage that solo queue players get will also work in a SWF. I think that a chat wheel with some simple comments like "Killer near me!", "Come heal.", "Focus on gens." etc. and maybe some ways for survivors to have more information of each other's positions (no base kit Bond, just something in that regard) would work. But even that wouldn't bridge the difference between solo queue and SWFs completely. After all, SWFs know with who they play, so there won't be anyone that just throws the match, doesn't do anything or is significantly worse than everyone else in that lobby.
Yeah matchmaking is part of problem it should put sweaty killers agains't swf and more casuals agains't soloQ. But instead worse case it puts sweaty killer agains't soloQ and casual agains't swf. I have died 15 games a row in soloQ and still got sweaty blight next game.
I was doing annoying tome challenge by the way managing to lose that many and lot of tunneling happened. Definetely myself I was not in right mindset to play but I just continue play no matter what until I get challenges done.

There's no excuse for it at this point. When I need to grind BPs I just hop on killer. Consistent BPs every single game. Why they haven't made any changes to this is beyond me. I still can't believe they killed prove thyself and didn't do anything to boost how many points you get for repairing a gen. No word on it from the devs either. Do they not realize how low BPs are for survivors in a game that already has a terrible grind? Imagine being a new player with no incentive and no offerings. You'd probably get 10-15k per game as an inexperienced solo player. Does this not seem silly to anyone else? I think one possible thing you could do is give every survivor 1k each time a gen is completed. It would make survivor scoring feel much better. It would also give the guy who looped the killer for five gens more points as well.
Prove thyself was great band aid fix for the problem and instead fixing survivor bp scores unfortunately devs decided to take it away... I thikk my bp scores are almost half less than they used now im lucky to get 20K usually 12-18K normal match. Prove thyself however gave usually chance to get 25-30K.

I must have it done, since I got them all, but I don't know which one this is, can you give me the tome name? There was two tome challenges that were bugged for the longest time for me, one was linked to Spies in the Shadows, where crows startled by survivors just wouldn't count for the challenge, and the other one was Tome 6 Page 1 "Self Preservation". There was a long standing bug report about this challenge and I intermittend tried it again and again, until it finally one day completed. That challenged wasn't helped in the slightest by a very ambigious wording that could be read a couple of different ways. At least with the in-trial counters you can see live when you got a challenge completed and don't have to guess or eyeball it and then find out that you missed the mark by 3s or something.
Exactly that tome 6 self preservation maybe I give it yet another try and get hopefully lucky like you.

This. I am a killer main, but I play 30-35% of my matches as survior, as I would bereft myself of half the gameplay experience otherwise. I still think that survivors are strongest and still the power role, but that obviously depends on your MMR and what opponents you get. My biggest credentials is the fact, that I have every single achievment and tome challenge in the game, be it survivor or killer (with the expection of couple of Good Guy achievments and the new tome page), so I have seen most of the stuff the game can throw at you on both sides.
Speaking of tome challenges do you have prenomination challenge done? It seems to be bugged. It's only challenge I have not been able to do apart from new tome which just came.

@Magothys said:
I just managed to get this. It seems that the challenge technically works, but they forgot to lock it in when you actually reach the 3 skill checks, so when you don't get a great skill check afterward, it resets anyway.
I got around this using a build of Technician, Stake Out, Scavenger, and For the People (Possibly not necessary but I didn't confirm that healing checks don't reset this as well, so it's a way to heal others without encountering checks. Autodidact might work too). Bring a 32 charge toolbox with a 12 charge add-on and the other one that removes skill checks while repairing.
I repair normally until I get 3 great checks in a row, then switch to using the toolbox until it is empty, then recharge it using stake out.
So only way to do it is to stop doing anything with skill checks after you do the challenge that's "great". I did it 2 times as well next time I quess I try that. But does it count struggle phase skill checks?

But thats whats going to happen. Killers will slug everyone and survivors will complain about slugging.
We already had that.
Survivors will jump in locker killer have to wait 60s there and other 3 can work on gens. Counters tunneling but maybe not enough so the timer could be increased to 80s.

@Peanits said:
I can clarify a bit. I'm not sure where the 60% kill rate = 50% win rate bit comes from, but I don't recall it being said by us. We don't tend to talk about "win rates" because a win is still somewhat subjective. Some people count a pip as a win, others if they get 3 kills, some even consider only 4 kills as a win. If we're talking about solely kills, kill rate and win rate are equal. The kill rate is an average, not a guarantee. You might kill 4 survivors one match and 0 the next, but that'll still average out to 50%. (When you average out thousands of matches, that killer's actual kill rate becomes much more accurate.)
Certain things may influence it, like you've mentioned, but it's a bit too nebulous to speculate on. There are also things that survivors may do to inflate that kill rate, like giving the killer a pity kill after a rough match, giving up when the hatch is closed, and so on. They would cancel each other out to some degree, but exactly how much influence each has is impossible to identify. These would have to be incredibly common to have a significant influence on the total kill rates.
Now that you mentioned pipping being personal win condition for many please remove depips... They cause lot of stress for players and make the game sweaty and depip is for many salt to the wound when losing. As grades don't affect matchmaking anymore, they're not needed to be so competive and if it's then too easy to reach red ranks just double the pip amount required to get there then grades really indicate just playing time.
-
I have though about same but well I can't do it every game. Eventually I feel bad for survivors.

Well then that I'd a skill issue on the survivor side isn't it?
Doctor does not have to time anything just spawn it mindlessly bubba on other hand has to time his chainsaw perfectly to prevent unhook. Bubba chainsaw takes much more skill than doctor even small obstacle can make it tantrum.

Just bring two survivors and approach in a way that the shock cannot hit both, when the first one gets interrupted by the shock you walk in and unhook. It is really not that hard man.
Don't expect that ramdom solos can pull that off until it's too late. Doctor needs nerf in this he is in a way better facecamper than bubba and that should not be the case. What I mean that bubba at least takes skill to facecamp.

If they’re standing further away, then survivors have a much better chance of pulling of a save. Sounds like the system is a success to me 🤷♂️
Doctor can just shock threrap and prevent the unhook. You can still camp at least 11s from close and even longer if there is survivor trying to save. So anticamping barely does anything to those who adapted to it. I think the range is not enough and it should fill faster. Doctor facecamping power should be nerfed.

Given the state soloQ is I think people want to play more swf then before and many soloQ players have quitted.

In a perfect world, the ideal match would be one where 2/4 survivors are at the same skill level as the killer, while the remaining 2 are slightly below the killer's skill level. This would, hypothetically, allow for a 6 hook game where the killer walks away with a 2k and two of the survivors escape.
MMR is best when it's strict. At some point, people who play competitively have to ask themselves why they're playing. There's no proverbial carrot for them to chase. They've already proven how good they are. So, if they aren't playing for fun, what are they playing for?
Play to get bp to get your character to P100.
-
@Seraphor said:
I kinda agree with Scott, if only because I play similarly to him.
I like to play fair, go for 12 hooks, allow everyone to get a decent BP score, probably let one or more survivors escape depending on how the game goes. But I can't do this when I'm forced to play sweaty to not lose at zero hooks.
If I'm better than the survivors, I have the freedom to adjust my playstyle and generally me being better than survivors = great game for everyone. If survivors are better than me, either I walk away with a crap score, or we all do because a 'gen rush' situation occurs (naturally, not survivors 'fault').
But, that's such a fine line to walk, it's not practical to expect it every or even most games, and probably more importantly, not all killers will play this fair. In fact I'd say the majority don't.
So in theory Scott is right, in practice, probably not.
Stricter mmr would help you if you let 2 go your mmr will not rise. Especially if you then lose game your mmr will go down and you should face even more weaker players. Scott just want easy 4K:s.

If all those good players that make content about the game are unable to play, because they have hourlong queue times, what do you think how long it takes until they revert it because this free advertisement does not work anymore?
People that have such huge streaks on Blight and Nurse won't care about that, those guys are that good that unless they go against a full one 4 men comp squad they still are more likely to win than to loose. But sure if you try the same on a lower tier killer you will really struggle.
Also I have no clue how the matchmaking is apparently suddenly able to find better matches... Would also be glad to know, or to get word from BHVR what changed.
Requirement for their matchmaking should be face to swf. 4 man swf probably make 20% of the playerbase so there is enough for those blight and nurses. Most of them can at least put a fight.
-
Chasing bubba is always fun.
-
Some do it because gen rushing and some just want to ruin other players games. There are many reasons. But ultimately it is flaw in game. Easiest stragedy should not be the best no-one can defend that it takes just least amount of skill. Gen rushing is same takes least amount skill from survivors.
-
I think I escape about 35-40% my games in soloQ so about every third game. But it is inconsistent sometimes I escape 4 times a row and sometimes die 10 games a row. Usually I can bit carry my teams. But what I think is more important than just escape rate that is you have chance. So many games are just killer stomping us in soloQ 3-5 gens remaining.

I suggested this before, but only after AFK crows start to fly above you. You don't accrue AFK crows while recovering or crawling, so this effectively is still a 90s timer (~30s recovery, then 60s for the first AFK crow). It also still tells the Killer where the Survivor is, so they can't sneak away and hide to recover. If the Killer had to wait 90s before a pickup (especially since they had AFK crows), then the only realistic condition is 'Griefing: Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their gameplay experience'.
Or maybe at 70s they could show survivor aura to killer that he can pick up himself in 90s. For 2vs1 I would half these numbers to 30s and 45s to prevent slugging for 4K.

It's a tough problem to solve. The current counterplay is macro-based, which just doesn't work in a game that doesn't have competitive matchmaking or communication. There's almost always one player running after the killer for whatever reason instead of using the time effectively to crank gens, and the person being tunneled usually doesn't belong in that game in the first place, so they go down in 10 seconds.
There's just no real downside to tunneling early. Only upside. And survivors get nothing for doing the correct thing. Your best case scenario is usually a 3v1 at 2 remaining gens. 1 remaining gen if you're lucky. That's hard to lose as a killer either way. And unless the killer is really bad relative to the person they were tunneling, the survivors get a choice between a 4k and a 3k hatch escape.
If survivors play propelly they should not lose 1 gen remaining in 3vs1. My soloQ mates manage that but they are worst kind of players you see. One goes AFK in corner, one dies at 90% worked gen in under 10s and one player tries to play right but you can't win 1vs1 when 2 players sabotage you. On other hand with my swf we have won 3vs1 games 5 gens remaining. Our solo has dc:t or suicided or got tunneled early.

I would say quality / accuracy of matchmaking.
There’s no reason I should still be getting paired with some of the players I get matched with. The skill gap is mind blowing sometimes, on both survivor and killer.
I will challenge you though. The gap between strong and weak killers is not a problem. It’s how it should be. You cannot justify a killer such as trapper, wraith, pig, or Freddy… being as strong as blight, nurse, or wesker, simply because of mechanical skill floors/ceilings.
There is fine to be gap but it's not fine to be that big ofcourse wraith should not be S tier but he should be very strong B. I think S tier killers should not exist and nerfed to A tier then the game can be balanced properly. Now if we make gens 120s blight would win every game whereas pig would still lose.
I think the game should be balanced more importantly around console players. Add assists and more settings to make experience better. I think overwatch 2 gives console players advantages facing pc players. Very least keyboard and mouse support should be added.

Mine probably 5: 1: 4 my friends don't play much anymore because tunneling and camping are so common and teammates are bad. Last time I played with my friend couple days ago and it was non-stop and teammates were terrible he has not come back since then. We don't enjoy killer either too much because we face best squads most of the time.

When you look at the sheer bloat in the possibilities for things that fill the nodes in survivor blood webs, it's not shocking at all that it can take forever to get a specific item. Think about the number of map offerings, green addons, green items, etc, then compare that to how many you get per avg web and stick a RNG on it.
I wish they'd switch to a system where you get tokens of a given rarity per node, and then could trade those tokens in for what you wanted.
Or you that you could sell items/offerings back and get like 20% of bp you paid from them?

Since BHVR added Anty - Face Camp Mechanic Bubba's pick rate decreased quite a lot. So we have less "Camping" Bubbas in our games. I understand that in end game you can not save Survivor on the hook, but is it very important?
I main Bubba since 2019 and I understand his power very well. At current Dead By Daylight this Killer really struggles in some situations. I would suggest only 1 Change for Bubba (I would love to see more buffs, but I want to suggest the most important one).
Bubba's Chainsaw Sweep movement speed should be increased from 132.25% to at least 135-136%.
This 3-4% movement speed bonus would make him much better at loops and it would reward good Bubba Players if they try to mindgame some Pallets or other stuff.
When I play Bubba Beast's Marks addon is obligatory - without this addon everything is much harder...
Tantrum can happen ramdomly too and even for quite good bubba on new maps with stuff. I would decrease tantrum duration or just remove it and hitting walls should then only slow down bubba. Buffing from 132 to 136 is too much. 134 however could work.
