Uhm... how, exactly ? They frustrate me, the game frustrates me (by putting me against rank 1's) but I can't frustrate the people who frustrate me ? Like I said, I don't have anything to counter them. I can't slow gen speed, I can't put pressure onto survivors since they are gods at looping and they are objectively better than me. I can't do anything at that point. If you think I can do something without camping to put pressure onto survivors, I am open to suggestions.

Slugging helps a lot, dont be afraid to slug whenever possible. If you see 2 people slug one chase the other. This wont stop a legit gen rush but it will slow it a touch

Just checked you're whole quote and you're totally wrong.

You're whole argument is about some specific scenario of "let's say if...." and no, we dont balance around "if...."

EVERY match is a unique match, you dont know what's going to happen so you can say "let's say if....."

And we dont have any proof about the OP's game, so this can be 99% be another fake "gen speed bad" thread.

You just choose numbers that you want to fit your narrative, you dont know what killer im playing, what map it is, what items survivor have, what addons I have, what offering I have, my skill/survivors skill....and even with that we still dont know what's going to happen

I was playing demo once and 4 gen popped in less than 3 min, guess what? I got a 3k.

I asked you a specific question. How do you personally stop a 4 man that splits up. Thats what gen rushing is. There are other ways of them doing it but there not as optimal. You came in talking about how ONLY trash killers camp because of a gen rush. And if youre saying that you must have some magical wisdom the rest of us dont have. So I'll ask again, how do YOU stop a 4 man gen rush?

And no, I didnt just "choose numbers" if you play against these teams you know how it goes because it always plays out the same.

    How often this happens?

I just hit 1 surv, kick the gen and put a portal there (I main Demogorgon) and then I check other gens.

I dont care if 3 gens pop, I will not ######### about it, cause I know im a good killer, and if they escape, o well, GG WP, and I move on, I dont cry about my mistakes and dont blame the game

It doesnt matter how often it happens, when it does it highlights the issues with the game. Its also the point of this thread. And stop being hostile, im trying to have a conversation with you not attack you.

So this is the issue with what you just said. In most games it probably took you 30 seconds to find that first survivor. Lets be SUPER generous and say it took 10 seconds to get that first hit. So were at 40 seconds and that gen probably has 20 seconds of progress on it.

Now you spend 20 seconds finding the next person on the next gen including the time it took you to lay that portal. So now were 60 seconds into the game. Well be generous again and say it takes you 10 seconds to get that hit. You lay your portal down and start walking to the next gen.

2 gens pop and all youve done is hit 2 people at this point. That first person has already sc'd (if they even bothered, they probably didnt) and there back on their gen, its probably about half dobe by now, that 4th gen is at 60 even with you kicking it, its only going to lose 10 secs or so.

But you keep going. You find the 3rd person. No pallets have been removed at this point because weve been super generous in giving you that first hit very quickly, lets be even more generous and say 2 have been. If you hit this person and dont commit to the chase, that 2nd gen we talked about is gone, that person didnt heal with tge gen being that close to done. The first gen is now at about 60 seconds. If you do commit to that chase both are gone and theres only 1 gen left. Because there are still so many pallets out there, if you commit to that chase its going to take you AT LEAST 30 seconds to down that person. By the time you get them hooked all 3 of the survivors are on the last gen. Its probably a quarter of the way done. This is a gg and youve only got 1 hook.

So now what? You just walk away from the one hook you got? Knowing theres 0 chance of you stopping that last gen from being done? Or...do you camp? Gens done anyway at least if you camp you might get one.

Do you want to try a different tactic?

I always find it funny that killers bring mori's always *nearly* lose when they do. It's almost like anybody who need to use one isn't good at the game but who knows being able to take a survivor out of the game for doing the bare minimum just means you're better.

I only ever bring them for fun and dont NEED them for 90% of my matches to win. What ive noticed is that within that 90% the survivors know you have it and become hyper focused on gens, even solo. They want them done as quickly as possible so they dont get mori'd. Even the most potato of red ranks can find a gen and hold m1 and theyll skip totems and chests and everything else to do so when a mori is in play

That other 10% it doesnt help much.

    Thats been my experience anyway

Its so satisfying after you are done, what I did was p3 max the killers I play and then evenly get everyone to p3, just to have a feeling of " I won't lose addons prestiging anymore ", and then just get all perks. Didn't bother with survivors except for my main, since they are just skins.

Overall still kinda excited for a new grind, have been spending the last month or two just getting atleast 30 of all addons + atleast 20 black wards on every killer. Not as satisfying as getting all perks on p3 but still cool.

Yeah thats exactly what im doing. When i play as a killer i spend 10k or so then save the rest. Then when i have a million i dump them into whomever im p3ing. This way im still getting perks for the ones that are already p3 and refreshing their add ons while saving to p3 someone else. Theres 3 of them i have all perks for. A few others are getting close.

    Davids my only p3 survivor.

  • @Exor said:

Yep, I P3'd and maxed out every killer so far, not gonna stop now. It is a bit annoying that just getting all the new tier 3 perks on all my old survivors/killers will take around 4-5 mil bp and then also having to p3 max pyramid head too, thats why I saved up all of tome 3 level 1-3 and dailies for him. Ease the grind just a little bit.

Im so close to having this done. 3 and a half more to go. PH will make 4.

You do you I guess, all I want is that when you get smart survivors you dont cry about getting only 0/1k.

And anyways when you camp cause of genrush when I play as survivor this makes me laugh a lot, cause all this means is that the killer is trash and is getting outplayed, BUT as I said, if you want to do it, do it.

How do you personally stop the teams that are splitting up and working on 4 different gens at the start of the match?

What might go better if youre skipping tracking perks is STBFL. That could be a pretty wicked combo for ending chases very quickly.

  • @ManyAchievables said:

Enduring is generally a great perk on every Killer (except Spirit, Huntress and Nurse lol).

However, I'd honestly use Spirit Fury or Brutal Strength over it.

But hey to each their own

I played a game as Hillbilly and the first gen popped in like 20 seconds. The second gen popped 40 seconds later, so I got someone down with my Chainsaw and hooked them. Two people came to save him, I downed one and the other two escaped. I hooked him, the same 2 people came again and this time, I downed both. The last guy was easy to find and I got a Merciless. I was a "camper" apparently.

So, camping in response to a genrush, is it OK on a moral standart ?

100% its ok. Ill do it everytime

Also quick maths as stated on DBD wiki:

Solo gen - 80sec (without TB)

Being hooked - 60 sec each phase (120 sec total)

So at best we're having 3 people capable of doing gens. Let's consider best case scenario, which is all 3 standing at gens at the moment of 4th guy being hooked. You're getting full 3 gens, and 40sec left. Again, best case, during those 40sec you all meet at 4th gen, take into consideration time needed to get to that gen. At very best you're having 4gens done by the moment camped one dies. But let's be real, it's rarely gonna best case. More probably some survs will check whether it's possible to save that guy, spend time on looking for gens and such.

Dont for get AT LEAST 1 gen popped by the time that first guy got hooked, possibly 2. If 1 isnt done its damn close.

Yeah, thats right. You forfeited the debate when you said BHVR decides what skill is. OOF.

Its their game. They set the conditions for what skills are more important thsn otgers and what they consider the win conditions to be.

Youre clearly a moron that doesnt understand what algorithms can do. So whats the point in arguining with you? Youre just gonna continue stamping your feet screaming "NOT POSSIBLE" stay ignorant.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1344234#Comment_1344234

No, it really is impossible. There's too much player involvement embedded into skillful plays to have an accurate assessment from an AI. Period. BHVR, dev or not, does not get to define what "skill" is. The players are the measuring stick, not them. Skillful is how long you can be chased without using a single pallet, not how many pallets you can use to not be caught.

You're wrong, you will always be wrong. Keep being wrong.

    πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ ok bud. Whatever.

  • I am getting bored with it. Yes.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1344234#Comment_1344234

The first thing they need to do though is clearly define the win condition for the match.

I'm very interested to see what they end up doing with this.

Yup. It would be interesting to see how they define a win if thats the route they go. I doubt theyll ever tell us though lol

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1344049#Comment_1344049

Again - whether or not I'd be "surprised" is of no consequence. With the amount of RNG DBD has *IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR AN AI ALGORITHM TO DETERMINE IF A PLAYER IS SKILLED*. Period. There is no two ways about it. It's literally impossible.

I was trying to put it nicely, but no, its not impossible. You are 100% incorrect. Any situation you can dream up in game can be configured into the algorithm. It would need to be REALLY good and would take a ton of coding and testing, but its absolutely possible. You can see this in a lot of algorithms that are already out there doing irl things that are much more complex.

The hardest part is for bhvr to define what they consider to be skillful and what isnt. Once they decide that then they can program it.

And honestly, doesnt even need to be that complicated. It can be as simple as defining a win/lose/draw condition. Over time, despite rng, tge more skilled players are going to win/draw more than unskillful players.

Eh yeah I know. The idea is to point out alternative methods instead of just DS, BT, Unbreakable every game.

At least try dropping DS, if you must keep unbreakable sure whatever but by explicitly limiting myself from using those perks I instead have to come up with other ways to solve the problems.

I pointed this out with the anti-tunnel builds. The point of them isn't to be a crutch, but to give your chases a win condition.

Even Decisive Strike doesn't stop tunneling, it deters it but it doesn't stop it. The builds I propose STOP tunneling. As in they could attempt to tunnel you and try chasing you all game, but still fail anyways. Particularly with the first build.

Ignore her, this is a good thread

You shouldnt be a killer in the game altogether 🀬 LEAVE BUBBA ALONE

    So youve met me πŸ‘€

  • @Bugcats said:

Why is it that 9.9 times out of 10 every single leatherface is toxic and facecamps/tunnels survivors all game? Is it a psychological condition where everyone who plays him channels his personality in the film and is simply #########? Genuine question.

When im annoyed with survivor ill put bubba on and basement camp. Its a nice stress reliever actually, you should try it

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1343220#Comment_1343220

It's not too early to tell. It's a fact - there are too many variables, most of which are complete RNG, for ANY AI algorithm, period, to determine if a player in this game is good or not.

Are you a good survivor because you ran the killer for 3 gens? Maybe...but what if you only did that by using every pallet on the map and screwing the rest of your team? Does that make your typical rank 20 "good"? Are you a bad killer because you got Blood Lodge, the most opened map in the game, with Ghostface, a killer that relies on stealth and literally hiding behind walls? No, you're not. Are you a GOOD killer because you used an Iri Head on Huntress? Are you a bad survivor because you went against Forever Freddy on Hawkins Lab? Are you a bad killer cause you had 3 people on the hook during EGC, one had deliverance, borrowed time, and all 3 of them had DS? No. You're not.

The game doesn't know the difference, and there's no way for AI to determine the difference. Any seasoned player in DBD can watch someone with their eyes, killer or survivor, and whether they win or lose, you can more or less tell they are good on the game based on reaction times, ability to juke, ability to mind game etc. The only noteworthy thing an AI can determine is escapes/deaths/sacrifices. In most cases, none of these things have a lot of bearing on how good the player is.

This is a fact. It's not an opinion. "Too early to tell" is nonsense. It's never too early to have experience in the game and know BS when you see it. It's never too early for common sense.

Youd be suprised what algorithms can do. It really depends on how much time, effort and know how went into coding.

  • 100% agree, i do it on kilker side too. Not necessarily meme, though sometimes, but i like to mess around with non meta stuff

The keys are placed in boxes at the same time as the traps are placed on survivors, not when the trial starts.

Either way. What difference does that make? 1 box can still have multiple keys

Oh okay I didn't know that part. I agree though I think they need to make some sort of adjustment to improve pigs traps, I don't think a pig should ever have to worry about someone who has an activated trap on but there's so little lethality to them without good addons that that's not the case

Yeah theyre virtually worthless. Virtually. Sometimes luck is on your side

  • @aregularplayer said:

I think the pig thing is, I can't remember who but someone did look into it and found it's not rng based but there's a key to every box, unless you mean in another way

When the match starts each traps key is placed in a specific box, but that 1 box can contain multiple keys. So what the op said isnt correct according to the stuff ive seen anyway.

They really need to look into this. Ive seen people working on gens with activated traps without a care in the world and still get the trqps off.

It's both? Different teams work on different things and they all have a list of things they work on sequentially, based on priority.

Game-breaking bug that prevents everyone from playing? Probably gets pushed to the top of the list.

Minor inconvenience that takes little time to identify and fix? Won't get bumped to the top, but if they can solve it in a few minutes, it'll probably be fixed in their spare time.

Minor inconvenience that takes a while to identify and fix? Probably doesn't get pushed to the top of the list.

Yeah its been 4 years on some of this stuff. I dont buy it anymore πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ its great they reworked some of the maps and tge doc and freddy rework were great. But fixing trapper should have happened 2 years ago. They took tge time to give him a reset trap option but couldnt spend an hour adjusting tge number of traps he starts with? Please

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1343601#Comment_1343601

It's a matter of priority. Yes, something is simple and very easy to do, but that doesn't mean that they will change it right away. Things take time to happen.

Not many people knew about this, but the description for The Legion's Deep Wound addons (Frank's Mix Tape and Stab Wounds Study) were changed because the tag "Considerably" was actually doing less than "Moderately". It took two weeks for that to get fixed after I brought it up to a developer. Why? Because it's not as important as something like a new killer, or reworking existing maps.

Well its funny you say that, because all I hear when people say "skip releasing a new chapter and fix some of these problems" is "tHeY hAvE dIfFeReNt TeAms" so which is it?

  • I work in IT, and have done very very basic coding. Adding prestige blood spatter effects to all cosmetics is tge kind of thing thats harder than it sounds. Changing the number of traps trapper starts with is not. Having his traps spawn closer to tge center is. Reducing the time it takes pig to crouch is not.

  • @Rydog said:

Those first two definitely wouldn't fit in a QoL bucket.

But theyre still just small number changes in the code. Its not some stupid long rework that has to take place

  • When dealing with flashloghts franklins demise is overrated and lightborne is underrated.

  • My biggest concern is what this is going to make matches feel like. Right now there are three types of games I get as a r1 killer.

Theres the way to easy what the hell are you guys doing in red rank matches.

There are matches that are super close and i either won or lost by one or two missed plays. Tgese games are fun but a sweatfest.

Then there are the matches where it feels like I couldnt have done anything at all. They were always going to win.

Im pretty sure the goal would ve for all games to feel like that middle one, and in a perfect world with a perfectly balanced game, tgey would be.

Tge problem is we dont live in a perfect world and dbd is not a perfectly balanced game. I think most people agree you take the best killer (that isnt playing nurse) and tge best swf swat team, way more often than not the swf is going to win.

And so what this means is, the majority of games is going to feel like that last one. It doesnt matter what level killer you are your skill level is always going to be 1 or 2 steps behind the team youre matched against because this is true at tge very top (it will cascade backwards).

Even if that isnt true every game is still going to be a sweatfest. Its going to have zero chill. Even though the potatos are to easy, its still a nice break from the other 2 types. I can play around and do things to mess with them i cant usually do. I get to be merciful where i normally cant. Weve seen this with other games, i remember when mmr was introduced into COD and what a friggin sweatfest that became.

Tldr: mmr could turn the game into a sweatfest EVERY GAME.

Ever since the Ruin nerf I personally think killer has got really unfun/stressful . As now games don’t last very long and the gameplay for killer can be little or stressful as u constantly have 2 get hooks cause pressure or the gens are going to fly by . And when games do fly by there isn’t much gameplay for killer . Only killers that are viable at the higher ranks are nurse, spirit and Freddy imo . The Ruin nerf was really unnecessary as it was balanced

I think reworking ruin was a good thing, but it should have come with other changes as well. That was a poor decision imo. Made even worse by the way they communicated that decision. Balance still isnt where it needs to be but the changes theyve made since then have been moving in tge right direction. Hopefully whatever theyre doing to the beginning of the match is the final piece
