  • I don't think we really should go into Greek mythology mostly due to were having the Greek collection with a Minotaur skin for Oni, a werewolf might be interesting, but I would like something from Outlast though

Every time someone pitches the idea of springtrap, the thread becomes a massive argument about if FNAF is a good game or not. No one wins because everyone's opinion on what makes good horror is completely subjective. Some people think Jumpscares are a pretty good way to scare people, others think that's a really cheap way of doing it. In my completely subjective opinion, FNAF was never scary because of the Jumpscare, it was the feeling of paranoia and buildup due to the limited power and constant looming threat.

Honestly, I think springtrap would make a fine addition to Dead By Daylight and I feel that the "CrInGe" part of the fandom has long faded since it's been 6 years since the first game released.

True and at times I feel like that hate for the idea of him being in the game has died down just a bit but it is still around.

See, this is a problem with perspective and that's fine. I now understand what you were trying to say, but calling something a pinnacle implies it is the shining example of the genre. And for seasoned fans of horror, it just isn't, but again this is perspective based.

The best way I could put it is the Shinning effect... Anyone who watched that movie back when it came out, and even probably up to a decade or so later considered it one of the greatest horror films ever. As a child I was often horrified by even tomb raider and games of the such, but my biggest game back then, and the game that literally started my fascination with horror, was a little known game made by a fairly big developer at the time, Shivers.

If you looked up a walkthrough of that game now, you would probably laugh, but that ######### was the scariest game in the world to my 5-8 year old self. A few years latter as I get more and more into watching horror movies, playing games like phantasmagoria and resident evil/silent hill, I was told by my mom I need to see this older movie called the Shinning, as it was "the scariest movie ever"

So we went to Hollywood videos, picked up the movie and I think I also rented DMC, not sure.. anyway, I eagerly tool the video to the bedroom where I could watch it with my brother and get terrified while preparing him for the torment I would unleash on him from this new material (as brothers do) and it... Just seemed SOOooo boring.

Like it felt like nothing was happening for the whole first hour really, and I was a kid, so you can imagine I expected some more consistent action, but the typewriter scenes just didn't click, the twins in the hall thing fell super flat for me because it was such a cliche at this point from my perspective, and basically nothing felt as explosive as I thought it should at the time.

Now of course, over time you realize what the story was going for, why it was supposed to be scary, etc as well as the context of was made in that can't really be duplicated. Horror fans were way to jaded to go back to that, and horror video games didn't really exist when it was made, so of course I would be pretty desensitized. Also, this applied to the exorcist as well.

And now I think you can see where I'm going with this.. FnAF was your "Shivers". It was a horror game that introduced you to the concept with a bang. It's funny, because I'm alot of ways , Shivers is very similar to FnaF, except it's in a museum setting and the spirits posses random items made from specific elements, rather than animatronics. And even as cheesy as it seems looking back (and it was even then considered decidedly cheesy, for some good reason) it still holds a special place in my heart. I even revisit the game Evey few years just for the hell of it, although I see that becoming increasingly difficult over time.

Edit; sorry for long post, if you need a TlDr let me know

That's okay man I understand it and we all sorta start from somewhere, like my first fascination for horror didn't come from a game, it came from a old kids horror movie called Monster house I think, I just became interested in it but my parents were stricked about me watching it so I never got to see it until my teenage years ( I thought it was decent) but before I watched fnaf came and it reignited that interest in horror and I just stuck with horror from then on, but at times for me horror can become way to extreme the prime example for me is Outlast 2, that was just way too much.

Sorry, But fnaf is not an "iconic character in horror", in fact it's a stain on horror. The only reason people even considered it "scary" was because it was jam packed with jump scares, but that's all it was. There was nothing else scary about it. Not to mention, because of its popularity with pre-teens, horror movies themselves started shifting towards being PG-13 jump scares to cash in on that trend. So let's not try and say it's on the same level as og horror.

I mean it kinda is like there are some parts where its almost rated-R and I understand that it isn't like mature rated quality at times, but then again we got Stranger Things and I consider it PG-13 so at this point I don't think it entirely matters

no im not ppl consider me as a fan of him or something but even tho i dont know whos that person. ppl enjoy fnaf i do cuz of the jumpscare and stuff but thats it fnaf its a jumpcare game you dont know what will happend but since dbd its a survival horror game its a huge different the only 1 thing that could work its the purple man as a killer thats it

Um Springtrap is the purple man, you see when he destroyed the other animatronics, the souls of the kids he murdered corned him and he fled inside the spring bonnie suit which triggered the spring locks within supposedly killing him,

  • @Tru3Lemon said:

i would say its not possible but springtrap in DBD would be wierd in my opinion why cuz FNAF its only a jumpscare game compare to DBD youll always see springtrap and that would ruin the character itself

You know I never considered that but I mean the series means a lot to me, I mean Fnaf made me fall in love with the horror genre and I get why it would be wierd then again we have had some interesting additions before. Also, are you Tru3ta1ent, like the real Tru3ta1ent?

Dude, you literally call FnaF the "pinnacle of horror" and for jump scares no less...

I'm not even going to shot on the idea, been there done it, but you cannot possibly believe that can you? You literally disrespect almost every horror themed director, writer, and game designer ever with a statement like that, and from that point on I believe you lost just about anyone with good taste. So I just wanted to point that out, I feel a bit sympathetic towards your desire even if I don't think it's a good idea at all, bit saying things like that will just turn folks against you, especially in a horror themed games forum... With ties to SH of all properties.

The point was trying to make was that when I call a pinnacle of horror is that its memorable, this something peoples heard about, that's what I mean when I call it a Pinnacle of horror, I am sorry if I said it in a way you don't agree with, or made you cringe, I just think Fnaf was a very huge and memorable point in the horror genre it created something that hasn't truly been seen before in horror in which we as kids back then absolutely adored like Chuckee cheese, when I first saw played it I just felt uncomfortable to be around people in mascots, or let alone Chuckee cheese, anyway if it makes you feel better one franchise that is a huge deal in horror genre was Outlast but I'll cover that in another topic

Scary Stories is still considered a kids book though, the publisher and editor (author had died) during that fought back saying they were appropriate for kids. It's why they're still in elementary school book fairs and kids sections of book stores.

Fnaf is already available in elementary schools at the scholastic book fairs - it's where my nephew got his first one. School library I can't vouch for only because my nephew avoided his since he didn't like the librarian. I'd think by now the parents groups that jump at any chance to push censorship for kids would've said something about the books being in kids section instead of teen/young adult in book stores or being in elementary school book fairs but they've been quiet. Until it's moved out of kids section/elementary school book fairs it's going to continue being considered a kids book like Scary Stories.

huh I did not know that, cool

For those that even know what I'm talking about, this might be controversial as hell. But most of you probably don't know, so I'm just going to provide a brief rundown of what the Stitch wraith is, before I tell you about the idea of its abilities and how it came into the entity's realm.

The Stitchwraith is a sort of mysterious figure FNAF book lore(yes, yes, I know) who has appeared at the end of every Fazbear Frights book. He is a sort of weird robot infused with pure agony that happens to be a serial killer(suprise, suprise) that seems to be dismembering or stealing the parts of other animatronics to build itself to be stronger. Than it disappeared.

You can see how this could fit into DBD lore. A serial killer from a Iconic franchise with a unique hobby that disappeared out of knowhere. This could easily lead to the Fog choosing and sending the Stitchwraith to the entity. Now, into the abilites.

Grim Scavenging: Holding the Power button causes the Stitchwraith to become undetectable. It will charge up like Ghostface's stalking until it glows red, allowing him to hit the Attack button to lunge and rip off one of the survivors limbs and slide it over the Stitchwraith's metal skeleton, becoming more powerful. This can of course be cancelled by being watched for 1.5 seconds or being interrupted. This inflicts hindered, deep wound and broken onto the survivor and removes their ability to fix generators until they can find and attach a prosthetic hidden around the map. This can be done up to 3 times, for both arms and then a leg, before they fall into the dying state. By stealing four limbs and hitting survivors four times(or executing a dying survivor with Rip) will infuse it with agony, allowing it to move faster, kill survivors with one hit, vault quickly, and destroy generators and pallets.

Rip: Survivors that have been downed with Grim Scavenging and hooked once before can be killed with Rip much like a Memento Mori. Survivors will have their spine torn out and used to impale the survivor in the head.

Vexed Talons: When the Stitchwraith has been infused with agony, press the attack button to launch a short blast of Vexed Rage with each swipe, leaving the survivor in the dying state and affected with haemorrhage, exhausted and torment.

Vexed Rage: When the Stitchwraith is infused with agony, pressing the active ability button causes it to go into a rage slashing at everything and moving extremely fast.

    Unique Perks

Demonic Imbuement: Activating the Agony Imbuement causes all survivors to be hindered and makes their aura visible for 4/6/8 seconds

Phantom Pains: Stealing a survivors limb causes all survivors in 20/25/30 metres to scream.

Entity's Mask: Sacrificing a survivor causes the Stitchwraith to be imbued with agony for 20/30/40 seconds.

Appearance: The Stitchwraith is a mysterious figure wearing a cloak. It wears a white mask with features drawn on in a thick, black marker. Most notably two eyes, one of which appears blackened, and a toothy grin missing a tooth, with something appearing to be stuck between its front teeth. It also appears to have blood around its mouth. Beneath the cloak it is nothing but a steel skeleton.

Mori Animation: Levitates the survivor up off the ground and wrapped in barbed glowing red wire, and then have the survivors head torn off.

I guess he could work for a skin for wraith

May I remind you that Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark was banned in 1993 because of the graphic violence it detailed. If they ever shared the FNaF books in school, I'd expect the same reaction.

Well Scholastic also goes to high schools to sell their products at times, and I didn't know scary stories to tell in the dark was banned.

Kids already get games they shouldn't have (I mean FNAF was never intended for a kiddie group) if you're worried about lol edgy fortnite kids rushing in. Even then, they will probably get bored like how a lot of stranger things fans who joined probably didn't stick around when Demo was a thing.

And look. If you don't want him in and you dislike him, you can literally just not buy his DLC, you know?

Slightly off topic but how the books are aimed for children really worries me.

I've read the book, and I'm not going to spare the details, but I really can't understand why it's aimed at children. The games I can understand as there wasn't much gore shown but the books, oh god.

Well I was in school during the release of the books and they had little pamphlets where you could order your scholastic books from, and the FNaf silver eyes book was located in young adult section so yeah

  • true but I've heard he uses a special knife, or he could use his fists one of the two

Okay, time to give what I gave the others.

FNAF characters have no weapons, they literally just scare you and thats all, along with this all the games are set onto a timer, which is NOT how dbd works at all. To add onto this because I KNOW someone is gonna mention it, Pyramid Head was added because the game Silent Hill was and still is, the definition of psychological horror, while FNAF is literally just a game about dead kids souls being trapped inside of robots that yell at you, every killer in DBD has a weapon of some sort that is an M1 and biting a survivor would look bloody hilarious, along with this, pretty sure none of the FNAF characters have claws. FNAF does not fit into dbd not because of the game just being centered around just jumpscares to make it considered “horror”, but because all the ‘logical’ powers any of the robots could have wouldn’t fit into how dbd is played. If DBD was like REsistance (resident evil:resistance) then it would fit, however the game is about killing all the survivors before they escape, not kill them before the timer ends

Uh... they do have claws, and for power the same could be said for Pyramid head, from what I've p0layed he had no power he only just swinged his weapon, so they can come up with something

  • @teamdehn said:

I think a neat mechanic for fnaf team would for all of the animatronics to be on the map spread out and the killer power would be that they could inhabit the body of one and switch between them as the power. But survivors could disable the uninhabited one for a set of time of they find it

Not bad Idea personally I would think his power allows you to see through hidden cameras trough out the map and constantly know of the survivors whereabouts

  • @Veen said:

Tbh everyone can have a killer they don't stand, personally I always found Pennywise stupid as a killer in his movies , but I won't mind if he ever make it into dbd.

Would there be a new map and if yes what would it be? What about cosmetics? Would it be like the legion and have multiple animatronics? I won't ask about the perks or killer power because i will leave that to the devs

Personally I think it would be just a full blown chapter mostly because I heard they aren't doing Paragraphs anymore so maybe, thye might do a collection like they did for SH

We were simply having a discussion regarding the topic NOT a fight.

One of the most dangerous things when reading a post/comment is adding any sort of "emotional context" to it because it can make you read something completely different. At no point in time did I assume @Meatbycicle was angry with me or fighting, they were simply giving their side of the story and showing where their mindset was formed. I appreciate that and can understand where they were coming from.

Even THIS comment is written with a calm mind and a calm voice as I simply want you to understand (at least with us two) no fighting was happening.

The scream movies are partially parody and silent Hill is a video game, but both are still arguably not for kids. The most valid of those would be pyrimid head, but even then...

    @MegaWaffle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1473086#Comment_1473086

As you said the games LATER became targeted towards a younger audience due to the player base it started to garner, meaning the original cast of characters created were not done so under that new mindset.

Its ultimately up to BHVR to add whatever brings in the money and players, and while I would not buy a FNAF chapter/character I wouldn't fault them for wanting to do it as clearly there is interest within the community for this to happen.

First of all enough is enough, I tried to be calm about it but guys, this was not intended to start an argument, an attack on a player base, or whatever you think it is, I just wanted to talk about why I would think it would be interesting to have this character in the game, SO I ask kindly can you please not fight over a opinion I have when I'm okay with negativity , and secondly don't fight over which movies are childish and which ones are not, I've been trying to avoid toxicity, and show maturity with in the fnaf community, but right now its starting to fade, so please do me a favor and stop it now please and thank you.

  • One thing I have to say now to ensure there are no serious arguements or toxicity for this subject is be mindful of others opinion, it is okay to disagree with them jsut don't take it to a level in where you are starting a war, this will greatly hurt the chances of him actually being in the game.

I will give the answer I give to all of the "Lets have killer (insert name here) into DBD." I do not care if its a killer I personally enjoy/know, if its well implemented and offers something new to the roster then let it happen. I don't enjoy Leatherface (wasn't a fan of the movies, and I'm not a fan of the characters game-style, yet I would never say "remove Leatherface from DBD" or "Leatherface shouldn't have been added."

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1473030#Comment_1473030

The game was never created to be a "children's game" and that is simply what people choose to associate it with because children (the ones most likely to follow Youtube creator they enjoy watching) started playing the game.

I use to play Doom and Duke Nuke' em a ton as a child because my Dad played it (and ended up letting me) that didn't make the game a "children's game".

Yeah like when Ghostface or Pyramid head came out I sat there and asked " Uhh... who?" You know I didn't know them and theyu are really good so I'm okay with them being in DBD, and again yes Fnaf was never intedned for kids it just happened through a series of unfortunate events which led it to be called a kids game

  • @bm33 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1473030#Comment_1473030

This. The books are published through Scholastic which is a publisher that only does kids books so it is targeted towards kids. Right now, even if kids play the game, they have the defense all their DLC comes from adult franchises so it's parents fault for letting kids play an adult game. They cannot use that defense if they add in a kid targeted DLC, it will then turn to if it's an adult game why have DLC targeted to kids. No dlc targeted towards kids should be put into the game because it would attract parents groups that will start demanding they make the game kid friendly.

To be honest I don't think fnaf was ever intended for kids it was just with Youtubes like Markiplier and Jacsepticeye who posted gameplay footage of it, and during the time Youtube had very little regulations about it, also game videos were very popular in kids eyes back then.

Oh man, I'm really going to catch hell for this one.

    good luck. good luck

  • I mean to be honest it sucks for both survivors and killers for me as a survivor I get paired with literal rank 20s and when they make a mistake I die with them. But as killer I'm paired with red ranks rarely seeing people of my rank, basically it applies to both sides, until the new update in a few days comes out we are screwed.

My brothers and myself are both running businesses from home, one being a law office, another a major food plant that produces food for all USA groceries.

Its amazing what can be done from home these days, especially in regards to coding.

You could effectively run a gaming studio virtually.

im not a coder/dev yet im working on that part now. i do believe they have computers at home and are working from home now. that being said i do understand its hard no matter where you are working.

Well what I mean is that its a bit harder to come together and work on certain projects you know,

  • Well you gotta realize they are at home, so there is not a whole lot they can do.

  • I wouldn't think its a bad idea, but I don't know. From what I've been seeing as far as killer perks go particullarly the more recent ones, there aren't that great, like only one of them is good and would be used in high ranks but other than that not so much, it really started to show this for pyramid heads perk where forced pennance was changed to the broken, in my opinion forced penance is so bad that I can't even call it a perk more like a common base kit hit for killer. and Tot is pointless because even though you become undetectable, survivors will still know where your at its bad. My point is that they are really starting to run out of ideas, if they want to keep this going they are gonna have to create a new mechanic or something.
