Killers get more BP because they're alone against 4 people. Camping and tunneling are valid tactics acknowledged by the developers. Simple.

I never said it wasn’t a valid tactic. Refer to this comment to see what I mean

Like when there’s an event and there’s 5 double bp offerings up and the killer is extremely bad and no survivors are using toolboxes but we do gens fast, I literally have to go around doing totems or purposefully killing myself so we can get heal points and unhook points/altruism so I can get use out of the offerings and not just have like 15k bp but the killer can just stand there and have survivors throw themselves at him and end the game in 4 minutes and have like 30k?? Lol

None of those games are anywhere near DbD in terms of how impactful losing a teammate is.

Stop being a crybaby or don't play.

Bro what?? Literally at least half, if not all of those games, it’s impactful. A 2v4 or 3v4 (let alone the rest of the lobby) in fortnite, or warzone is incredibly hard. Same with halo, etc. and none of those games trap you into not playing like they do in dbd. I literally just played a match where a guy slugged me and a teammate and bled us out for no reason. He just kept swinging at our bodies on the ground. Why should I be forced to sit there for 2 or 3 minutes? Ever verse a good nurse that you can’t avoid because she can knows how to time her blinks and can go through walls? Not fun. A camping bubba? There has been plenty of times where I lost in halo , etc because a teammate decided to leave. It’s apart of gaming. The DC penalty is perfectly fine the way it is. you’re just looking to cry.

  • @PapiFelixPSN said:

Yup. And a lot of those games have very harsh DC penalties. DbD has one that doesn't punish DCs enough.

Just because you're a child and can't stick your matches out doesn't mean you get to ruin games for others without punishment.

In cod I can leave matches willingly. In overwatch I can leave matches willingly. In halo I can leave matches willingly. In fall guys I can leave matches willingly. In warzone I can leave willing. In fortnite I can leave willingly. I don’t think there’s one in ash vs evil dead. The list goes on. So you’re just wrong. Calling for a 1 month ban, especially a year ban is just outright absurd lmfao

If they don't want to play, a ban won't really affect them, will it? DCing is NEVER ok unless there is a hacker in your game. It ruins the experience for everyone else because you couldn't stick it out.

Like it does in every single other game that is online/pvp..

  • @PapiFelixPSN said:

Or...punish the ones ruining the games against her?

I personally think that if someone DCs too much in a short amount of time they should be banned for a month or even a year. Too many people are ruining games now, it's getting out of hand.

Bro.. what?? Lmfao I’ve never seen an online “pvp” game where leaving a game DIDNT hurt the team you were on. It’s gaming. Relax lmfao. You can’t force people to play something they don’t want to

How in the world did it make sense to INCREASE needed shards to 2,000 from 1,500? Especially after several months ago BHVR DID decrease required shards from 2,000 to 1,500. This was a good change and a much-needed start to making that trade fairer. SURE no one is forcing you to do it but are more options ever a bad thing? No.

So they not only reverted it. They also decreased BP from 150k to 100k? Dude, in the past it was hard to justify me using the Shrine for BP but now it's impossible. That is in no way worth it.

Honestly, you should be able to exchange 1,000 shards for 200,000 BP and thats a LOW estimate because earning that many shards is still a big grind.

Before I was just blowing my shards on BP to reduce the grind but now the gain is just so small I can't possibly justify it. Now the only thing to do is BUY DLC which wouldn't you rather I be spending REAL money on?

    This was a mistake.

Unless I missed something, the shards required were always 2000 and only went to 1500 during anniversary event. That’s never changed so why would it now? What I dont agree with is the reduction from 150k to 100k bloodpoints though. That was bs

The problem with what you posted is that it still doesn't help, sadly. The adjective is the key factor here- "Chris' bad looking face" is leagues apart from "Chris' horrific face", which is yet further from dropping the r-slur on it.

If we are in a regime here that shoots you down for freedom of speech, then fml I guess.

What free speech? You are in the chat of a private business, using the service of another private business, before you come to the official Forums of a private business hosted on the service of another private business. You are subject to their TOS and their rules. They are under no obligation to allow you to speak your mind and can do whatever they want with their rules.

Free speech applies to public bodies, not private corporations with their own rules.

It is not against the rules to criticize the game or anything about the game. They want constructive criticism. You are free to do that on the forum and especially free to do that on twitch chat. They just don’t like criticism on things they do so they ban

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

Today I started to watch Behaviour's Twitch stream, I was very excited. Unforunately, I made a negative remark on Chris' face in a joking manner, and instantly got permanently banned. No timeout, no warning, no explanation. I sent an appeal and apologized, I didn't want to upset or hurt anyone, nor did I think the mods would be so sensitive. The appeal was denied... Once again, no explanation, just silent treatment. And there's nothing I can do about it.

Guys, please be careful about what you write in there. We all went there for some exciting new DBD content, but a lot of us had our comments removed (and I assume a lot more got permanently banned as well). What a great image for your 1st "behaviour Interactive" twitch stream btw.

Don't let this happen to you. I want you guys to have a good experience in behaviour's twitch chat. It's sad that the chat doesn't have any written rules that state that if we write anything in a negative tone that we will get permanently banned, without warning, explanation, or mercy.

Dear mods, if you are reading this, could you please guide me to a place where I can send an appeal over the decision that the Twitch mods made? Unless you are those same mods, in that case you're probably going to delete this post and ban me here too.

I love DBD and I am a paying customer too. I care about this game's future, so it hurts a lot that you treated me like that.

You must be sorta new around here. This is BHVR and their mods we are talking about lol they’ve always been sensitive and have always banned for the most absurd things. All it takes is 1 negative/criticized comment and you’re gone. They only want positive stuff about anything they do, it’s ridiculous

I don’t play survivor that often but I like the new system better personally. I think it adds more tension than simply tapping buttons over and over really quickly. (And I’m saying that as someone who is a klutz who misses skill checks too often.)

Sure more tension because I’m nervous I’m going to miss a skillcheck and my timer is going to be cut short because of it. But other than that, there’s no tension. I just hate how it gets pretty small towards the end. It’s a false sense of hope for another survivor because they think they have enough time to save but then the hooked person misses a skillcheck by accident because they get smaller and now you don’t have enough time to save. I’d be fine with it if they stayed the same big size throughout the whole thing but it’s like they purposefully want you to miss a skillcheck and I think that’s bs

So Mom was changed so now it only takes 2 protection hits to activate

When active you get endurance and while you have endurance your aura is revealed when you are further then 16m from the killer. Like other endurance effects it's lost of certain actions

My first thought was the same as every one elses. If the killer sees your aura then they know they can ignore me untill i lose it.

But here's the thing. You don't have to show your aura. Instead of running away just stick near the survivor you were bodyblocking for. Or don't move if you are blocking the way of the killer completely.

Isn't that a pretty decent anti tunnel perk for teammates? Imagine they are running shack and you block the door. When MoM activates the tunneled person now has two attack cooldowns to get away. That's prenerf DS and it's probably the worst way tobuse the perk

There is no duration either so you can just stick with the tunneled survivor and bodyblock constantly. Untill the killer gives up and the tunneled person can heal you. If the killer comes back you still have endurance. If they don't you'll be healthy and you can heal the tunneled survivor and be able to bodyblock again when the killer comes back

Think a little outside of the box and it really doesn't seem that bad anymore. As long as you don't run away when it's activated the killer won't see the aura. And even if they guess what you are doing what are they going to do about it? You're still in their face

It’s definitely a nerf. You can’t do anything while having it activated so storing it for a good time isn’t possible. It’s just as good as dead hard now

EDIT: streak continued up to 36 (I lost the 37th game)

    INTRO

I'm a 300 hour player (mostly survivor). Since I cannot play solo queue anymore without becoming insane, I decided I would wait for next patch, but meanwhile I've started to play killer on a fresh account, and experimenting what it would look like if I try as hard as I can to be a d*** (mostly by facecamping and tunneling the same player).

Admittedly because it's a fresh account I started with low MMR - I didn't really want to ruin the reputation of my main account just to prove a point - but I don't have a lot of experience with killer so it should not be too far from my "skill" if I were to play normally. However, you will see that skill is not really the point here.

Now let's make it short, I have played 18 games so far, and every single game has had exactly 0 ESCAPE from survivors. In fact, survivors never even managed to complete the last gen, so it was not very close, although they went down to 1 gen several times.

So, that's a 18 win streak - and judging by my last games, there's no sign that it's ending soon. By the way, I'm no small man like Otzdarva, a win for me means ALL SURVIVORS DIE - NOT EVEN HATCH. Of course it's a d*** challenge so I feel like giving hatch would be unappropriate.

Since people will legitimately doubt my claims, I have recorded videos of most of these matches, but I'll make a short summary for each game so you don't have to watch it, and if you're used to solo queue, I'm sure lots of these games will look familiar.

Note: if someone can tell me how to check my kill/escape ratio (which should be at 100%) that would be great, so I can share the proof that there was no other match between them where I could have lost.

    LINK TO VIDEOS

I uploaded everything on Youtube, but for your convenience as said I have a "breakdown" section below where I will sum them up.

Fellow survivor mains, I know it is disgusting, but I HIGHLY encourage you to watch some of these games. Check the BREAKDOWN section.

    STRATEGY / BUILD

Simple gameplay, here are the main ideas:

Step 1: patrol gens and try to find a survivor quickly. This is the most critical step. Be sneaky, don't waste time in loops, switch target if needed.

Step 2: facecamp the survivor until they die (be patient)

Step 3: if other survivors manage to unhook, keep tunneling the same survivor, wait 5-10 sec to bait endurance. When survivors attempt to unhook, avoid hitting them as experienced survivors will try to bait you, ideally, try to grab them while they unhook.

Step 4 (optional): once 1 survivor is dead it's pretty easy to finish the game usually, but if you want to guarantee 4K, camp the 3 gens that are closest to each other, injure survivors so they all make noise, exploit their altruism so you can get them all down, only hook them AFTER they are all down, so they can't get the hatch.

VIDEO EXAMPLE 1 FOR THE "FACECAMP" STEP (from game 2)

VIDEO EXAMPLE 2 FOR THE "TUNNELING" STEP (from game 9)

I also have some particularly obnoxious games that demonstrate the "exploit altruism" step but since this is optional and particularly toxic let's skip that part.

    BREAKDOWN

Here is a summary of each game, with a video link (time stamped directly to the most interesting part).

First game of the show, good to demonstrate the strategy. Started with Trapper as I thought he would be a good facecamper. Found Claudette quickly then stayed right in front of the hook . Nobody went to help her, so she DC'd after about 1 minute (5 gens left) leaving the game 3v1, her teammates were not fast enough with gens and it was relatively easy to finish.

Result: 4 kills, 1 gen left

A slightly better fight from survivors, showing that some are used to facecamping killers. Note that I have now switched to Nurse to increase the chance of DCs (this is my first game with Nurse - hope that it's obvious from the gameplay). I started to facecamp Leon but this time his team managed to distract me away from the hook, regardless I ended up getting a grab on the person who attempted to unhook and win easily.

Result: 4 kills, 5 gens left

Another very altruistic lobby, survivors try very hard to prevent me from tunneling David and even manage to successfully make me lose him, so I hook and camp Feng instead. Survivors try to save her too but this time I manage to down all of them.

Quite a sad game to be honest as I missed almost every blink and yet the whole game still ends in 5 minutes because survivors were too altruistic.

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Not a very interesting game. I camp David, survivors make quick attempts at saving him but soon give up. David dies at 4 gens (!!). From there the game is easy to finish (although it takes me 7 more minutes to find the remaining survivors).

Result: 4 kills, 2 gens left

A very sad game as survivors really try to save their teammate but end up losing everything for it. Very touching survivors and merciless game from me, do not watch if you're faint-hearted. On a side note, I think this game illustrates well how disgusting you can play if you want to deny survivors the hatch: the game is clearly over after 3 min 30 s, yet it still takes me 15 more minutes to finish the last 3 survivors and ensure no one gets the hatch.

Result: 4 kills, 1 gen left

Very poor game from both sides, not much to say about it. Bad SWF, bad gameplay from me (Note: following the previous game, I equipped Whispers to have a easier time finding the remaining 3 survivors - I will later switch to "Spies from the Shadows")

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Another sad game. Hooked Nea right after start, someone DC's 30 seconds later, leaving everybody else hopeless. Survivors acted so cute that I considered letting them win and cancelling the game but eh, he DC'd after the hook so it's not really my fault, and I don't feel like that's what the majority of killers do when playing against me, so no mercy.

Result: 4 kills, 5 gens left

Best survivors I've faced so far, now the MMR finally went a bit up. This is a very telling game, worth watching as a whole (Warning: it is also very triggering, if you're a survivor main)

Here I found Cheryl quickly, but she was clearly a good player, so I gave up the chase and went for her teammates instead. I started to tunnel Kate, but only after a long chase, and by the time I hooked her for the first time there were only 2 gens remaining. From there it should be a loss for me, but as usual solo queuers try too hard to save their teammates and end up losing their advantage. Kate dies while Nancy attempts hoplessly to save her. By the time I hook Nancy still 2 gens remain. Nancy gets saved while I get greedy and damage a nearby gen, gives a fight and has DS which makes me lose time, but still not enough for her teammates to finish the remaining gens.

Result: 4 kills, 1 gen left

A rather easy game. Got Ash quickly, but his team tried hard to save him, bodyblocking, tanking hits etc. I could still tunnel him and get the other survivors shortly after.

Result: 4 kills, 4 gens left

Another sad game. Clearly low MMR survivors, game was already over after 3 minutes when I grabbed the person who tried to unhook.

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Now this is the first truly heartbreaking game. Likely a SWF stack as these girls played very altruistic and 2 of them had the exact same skin, one Claudette even tried to disguise as the other so I would hook her instead when they were all down. Everybody tried to save the tunneled survivor but did not manage.

Result: 4 kills, 2 gens left

Low MMR survivors, caught Claudette in 1 minute, very easy game, except for one thing: I tried to end the match too quickly at the end and almost gave Cheryl a chance to get hatch, this could have ended the streak.

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Regular tunneling game, caught Mikaela, camped her, teammates ended up being grabbed while saving her.

Result: 4 kills, 2 gens left

Absolutely heartbreaking game. Tunneled Claudette but Nea managed to skillfully bait me and unhook her without getting grabbed (which shows just how often solo queue players have to face it). Claudette rage quitted, seeing what happened, survivors gave up and/or tried to act cute.

    Conclusion

I humbly ask you, DbD game developers, to do me a favor and watch some of these games, especially game 14, and tell me if that matches your vision of how the game should be played, because actually, it matches what I've been getting lately as a solo queue survivor.

I trust that you have data that shows that the game is not killer-sided so I will refrain from debating balance, in fact I don't doubt that SWFs and/or the combination of old DS/BT/DH was too strong in some circumstances.

However, what seems clear to me, is that:

    1. The game may be not killer-sided, or survivor-sided, but it is definitely tryhard-sided. I think this echoes what Otzdarva said in a video: "DBD is extremely survivor-sided ?". Basically, your game can be fun under the assumption that people will play nice, but the rules and balance of the game do not prevent you to be extremely toxic. For example, camping a hooked survivor is seen as a d* move by most of the community, and yet managing to land a grab on someone who tries to unhook was multiple times a game-winning move for me.
    2. The game is full of anti-fun mechanics for survivors: very long gens that people don't want to do, one shot mechanics like NOED or grabbing a survivor who attempts to unhook, having to rely on killer's kindness to get hatch, survivor having to wait 4 minutes on ground if killer doesn't want to pick them up (hatch again), etc. Killers do not have to face such mechanics, and most importantly, do not rely on 3 random teammates to play the game.
    3. MMR doesn't work. I've played many PvP games, it seems unconceivable to me to get a 18 win streak against human players. Just think of it. 18 games x 4 kills each = 72 survivors dead. That's a LOT of people time wasted so that just one guy can have fun (me).

So, I don't know if I will continue playing and see if I can achieve longer streak, but ultimately, what has made me stop playing for now, is not toxic survivors, Dead Hard, DS, it is not gen rushing nor SWFs, ultimately the thing that makes me stop playing is just how heartbreaking some of the games must have been for survivors. If you've been in one of these games I hope you understand and wish you a nice day.

You could even try this with the perk “deadlock” and watch as you just casually win every game. Deadlock blocks a generator with the most progress for 30 seconds when a gen is complete. So that’s an easy way to waste a lot of time without putting pressure. The rest of your perk loadout could be “scourge hook: pain resonance” and just hook/camp them on scourge hooks to automatically damage gens. Then maybe “grim embrace” (when all 4 survivors have been hooked, every generator is blocked for 30 seconds). that one might be iffy but definitely could be useful in a lot of situations. Then as your last perk either maybe dead man’s switch or sloppy butcher or whatever you want. Point is, deadlock and even pain resonance are broken for camping and tunneling. You could also either do “save the best for last” as your 4th perk to kill the unhooker or (this one is more for just camping and not tunneling) you can use “scourge hook: gift of pain” and just keep hook trading the survivors and giving them all -13% to repair speed giving you more time to camp out their hook timer. Point is, camping and tunneling is broken especially with certain perks. You’ll win every game

You don't need to see into the future at all. You know the killer to coming towards you, what else are they going to do? Walk away from you?

The killer has one way to go, towards the survivor. The survivors has any number of directions that can go in.

You just need to react sooner as a survivor. Killer wouldn't have that ability if the hits weren't validated on the killer side, they would literally need to be able to see into the future.

Did you really just say that the killer only has one way to go (towards the survivor) and survivors have any number of directions they can go? Lmfao. Every heard of a mind game? Killers go the opposite way on loops all the time lmfao. Survivors also have to go one way lol away from the killer.

Yet again Somebody who doesn’t fully comprehend reading everything before joining a convo.. love it. I said “EITHER you’re biased killer mains or you don’t fully understand the meaning of the term endgame”. 1) who said I was salty? I’m simplyI guess showing them their flawed logic. 2) who said I wanted to “get out for free”? If you actually read what I said, you would’ve realized what I meant. the devs stated they wanted to deactivate it because it was a free escape. “A lose/lose for the killer” but the current deactivation of the perk isn’t a free escape if you get unhooked before once the exit gates are finished and no doors have been worked on it’s no where near considered a “free escape”. That survivor still has to loop and survive until the exit gate is opened and still has to run to the exit gate. It’s not a free escape, it’s currently a free kill because their perk is deactivated. What would make this more fair is if the perk was deactivated once the exit gates were opened. That solution brings more fair counterplay for both sides without totally just disregarding a perk or 2 that the survivor brought in just so the killer can get a pity kill. And just so you don’t bother me with more nonsense that I’ve already explained, I’ll add this so you can read it also.

And to add to that, you can hit another survivor get them scared and push them and get them to run to the door and open it. Or If the survivor gets unhooked and they’re running towards the exit gate, if they open the door and down them, guess what? You can immediately pick them up even if it’s only been 20 seconds because DS would be activated. no it’s not lmao. There are plenty of different ways to counter it on both sides. Killers can slug the survivor and down somebody else in the meantime. They can wait out the timer. They can go and open up the exit gates themselves and just go back and pick up the survivor. And survivors can have time to go save the down survivor and risk getting killed while doing it, or the downed survivor can crawl away. It’s not a free escape nor is it a free kill. If you had the survivor hooked near the exit gates you can open them yourself but survivors may try to heal the downed survivor in that time. It’s much more fair and counterable than a free escape or a free kill. Plus it doesn’t just totally make half of a survivor loadout literally useless

Yes and like I said in my first 2 comments on this discussion I said “deactivated in endgame doesn’t just mean when exits are 99’d/opened” it means that it’s deactivated once the last gen is done. And in the scenario I provided and plenty other scenarios I can provide further, you can see that it was indeed NOT a “free escape” because they would have to loop the killer even after being unhooked until I was able to get away or the does worked on

we are talking about it being a “free escape” when it’s not^^. This, in return just results in giving killers a free kill rather than survivors a “free escape”. So in turn, DS should be deactivated when the doors are opened and not once the last gen is finished. This give counterplay to both survivors and to killers without actually giving anybody a full “free kill” or “free escape”

No one is talking about current DS being a free escape (because it isn't), people were talking about old DS being a free escape, which it was

I've read everything, you're just refusing to acknowledge other opinions and where your stance has faults. This is like talking to a brick wall. Can't reason with the unreasonable.

Refusing to acknowledge other opinions?? Where?? I acknowledge everything and I have a better way to make both sides happy. All you have done is join mid way on a conversation and talk about some irrelevant things so what have you “acknowledged”? Do you listen to yourself? Lmao can’t reason with people who don’t actually read whole conversations before talking.

Exactly. In order to get unhooked, you need another survivor to come rescue you. Teamwork.

The killer has the opportunity to secure their kill, and by downing a survivor they have secured the opportunity to hook them, and by hooking them they have the opportunity to camp them and secure the kill.

Opportunity. DS offered NO opportunity, it was uncounterable at endgame.

You seem unable to understand what the killer role actually is, you should probably play it some time.

The killer hit you twice, put you into the dying state, put you on a hook. That's all that is required to 'earn' a kill.

If the killer then again downs you during end game, that is all that is required to 'earn' the kill, and an individuals perks should not prevent that, only other survivors intervention should be able to prevent that, via flashlight saves, bodyblocking, etc.

This is an asymmetrical game, it's 1v4. Killer is the power role, Survivors are the numbers role. You 'win' via team work, not by being 'better than the killer', because you're not, you never will be, you're not supposed to be.

As the power role, killer is supposed to be the dominating force in a 1v1 scenario. They absolutely have and must have the power to secure a kill in that situation. That's why they have bloodlust (guarantees a chase ends eventually) and why camping and tunnelling will always be valid tactics. These are countered via teamwork, by other survivors aiding you, taking aggro, taking hits, doing objectives in your place, etc.

You haven’t earned the kill until that player is no longer in the game. That is why there is a prompt to “unhook survivor” when you go near that person that’s hook. Idk what you’re going on about but you’re totally going on some tangent about something totally unrelated to what this topic is about lmfao weird

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3104299#Comment_3104299

Mate, this isn't a 1v1. It's a 1v4. Your team could, now hear me out, what I'm about to tell you is something only you'll understand once you've invested at least 20 hours into the game, take hits for you. If you and your team play this game like a team game, like it's supposed to be played, you wouldn't have this problem, but you want to have your free escape that doesn't require your teammates

i can’t believe I’m still explaining this to you. What you don’t understand is that this isn’t about “should’ve done this or should’ve done that” in that situation my perks were deactivated and it was not a “free escape”. So the people saying “it gives free escapes” are wrong because once the last gen is done it’s not a free escape until a door is opened. I know you have one way of thinking but if you look at the broad picture you would understand it

  • @Seraphor said:

Tunnelling and Camping don't exist at endgame, it's anything goes at that point, the killer has no secondary objectives.

Therefore an anti-tunnel perk is not necessary.

A survivor downed within range of an exit gate was literally invulnerable with DS at endgame. Can't pick them up because they DS and escape, can't slug because they crawl and escape. This guarantees an escape for a survivor who decided to bring a particular perk, over another survivor who didn't.

I do think that DS should be back to 5s stun though, and it could even be activated twice for each hook state, in exchange for not working during endgame.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3104259#Comment_3104259

You are not entitled to an escape just because you "ran the killer for 3 gens". You haven't won until you're out that exit. If all the gens are done, then the killer has nothing else to do other than secure his kill. If anything they've earned the kill given that they sacrificed 3 gens to get it. You misplayed by getting hit and downed, you could have evaded the hit, used a vault or a pallet, a 360 juke, etc. You managed it for 3 gens, why couldn't you manage it for another 20 seconds until a gate was opened?

By this logic, the killer didn’t kill anybody so he isn’t “entitled to a free kill” either so why do they get the pity kill? Your logic is flawed and I can tell you only have one way of thinking. It seems like you’re the entitled one. And obviously you didn’t read my previous messages fully because then you wouldn’t have said what you just wrote lmfao. Nice lmfao

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3104259#Comment_3104259

Yes, your team should've 99'd the Exit Gates before coming to get you, that is a missplay

Buddy that wouldn’t have changed anything because my perks would still be deactivated if they 99’d the gates. You obviously aren’t understanding the convo. This is about the fact that once the last generators are completed it is not a “free escape”. This has nothing to do with misplays and even your “missplay” scenario wouldn’t work because my perks are still deactivated lmfao so idk what you’re talking about.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3104181#Comment_3104181

If you looped the Killer for 4 Generators, and then got downed, your team would've had enough to get the last Generator done and get both Exit Gates 99'd. If you still died, it was a missplay on your team's part

i don’t think you actually understood. I looped the killer for 3 gens (the 1st was already done so now 4 are finished). I get downed and hooked and 10 seconds later the gen gets finished, I get unhooked right after the gen gets finished. And get chased and tunneled. There was not enough time for the exit gates to be opened, not had anybody even been working on them yet. And even if there was enough time but they still didn’t work on them then that’s still not a “free escape” for me so therefore my perk shouldn’t be deactivated. It’s not a “missplay” on my team but nice try.

  • people are saying it was a “free escape” pre update. Now it is a “free kill”. The devs changed because they didn’t want a free escape, now it’s a free kill. What did that change? How about just not deactivate my perks. Or deactivate DS when the gates are opened. That has killer counterplay for the killer and isn’t just a free kill nor a free escape for the survivor.

  • @not_requested49 said:

So basically punish killers for NOT tunneling? Thats a terrible idea

It would be much better idea to keep it disabled when the exit gates are powered, but revert the stun back to 5 seconds or make it repeatedly usable

There are no free kills, just like there are no more free Escapes

All of you guys are either biased killer mains or don’t actually realize what “deactivated in endgame” means. It doesn’t just mean deactivated when you’re on hook and the exit gates are 99’d/opened and you get unhooked and are running to the gate. “Deactivated in endgame” means AS SOON as the last generator is done. Ever since this patch I used OTR and I actually stopped using it days after the update because some games i wouldn’t need it to activate because a killer didn’t tunnel but then there was some games where I literally looped the killer for the last 4 gens and ended up dying and being hooked right before the last gen was completed. At this point, the exit gates weren’t even touched yet because it was right after the gen was completed and I was unhooked and tunneled and put right back on hook. Even if I had DS or OTR activated, I would’ve still had to loop the killer after getting hit for a little bit in order to survive long enough for the exit gates to be worked on and opened, or I would’ve had to lose the killer. It’s not a “free escape” at all. That’s actually what’s called a “free kill” for the killer. It should not deactivate right when the last gen is popped. It’s not a free escape at that time and my perks shouldn’t just deactivate for a pity kill.

The devs own words: kill rates are too low. You can’t argue against that, devs aren’t happy with kill rates.

Also the devs own words “we try to balance around 2 survivors dying and 2 survivors escaping”. Data for the kill/escape ratio shows every single killer is at/above 50%

  • @ausanimal said:

The first sign that killers might be the power role and survivors have to work to escape and they quit, but survivors were very happy to run old DS+UB+DH for how many years and lets not forget the classic i used my DS at 55 sec after spend 45sec on a gen the killer was tunneling me, lets not bring up the mori nerf and how killers had to sit though lobby after lobby of people bringing in keys but i guess it was killer sided back then and getting out the hatch with 2-3 gens left was fair.

I get what you’re saying but not everybody used those perks, and not every survivor that ran them abused them. whereas every killer got these crazy buffs. Plus they nerfed survivors way of escaping. Iron will nerf so no complete stealth. Second chance perks nerfed and not useable at all once the last gen is complete. Have you played survivor and looped the killer for a long time only to go down and be hooked, the last gen gets finished, you get unhooked and run a little bit only to get downed again and not be able to use OTR or DS? Yeah, not fun when your perks don’t work for absolutely no reason. Then you talk about keys but they were nerfed and made literally completely useless but the mori nerf is still pretty good and kinda OP. If you get tunneled off hook after your 2nd hook, you can still use DS, you have a possibility of wiggling off, teammates can sabo hook/take hits, teammate can flashlight save or pallet save, etc. the game is not over for that survivor yet the mori totally voids any of that and takes the survivor out of the game.. you speak of all of these “OP” things survivors had but killers can literally walk faster than survivors and kill them. Meaning there is quite literally nothing a survivor can do but die if the killer wanted him to

  • @CosmicParagon said:

STBFL is literally less than a 1/5 of a second faster at full stacks, if you got downed by full stacks post patch, you would have pre-patch too

Not with the additional nerf to the speed boost survivors get. Just like everybody says, “every second counts when playing killer. A half a second could be the difference between you downing a survivor or them vaulting a window/getting away.” Same applies to survivors. So no, you’re wrong. He might’ve been able to get away in a lot of scenarios pre patch.

  • @killer998 said:

No one is saying the problem was solely dead hard and no not every survivor did use dead hard, but 80% of the survivor player base did. A whopping 80% used dead hard including me btw, and literally all my friends on dbd used dead hard. I've a friend who's an insane survivor and one of the biggest reasons he got away with so much BS in chase was, you guessed it, dead hard.

Now he's still strong without dead hard, but when it was there he would take about 3-4 minutes every time to go down unless the killer either had him in a deadzone, or really messed him over. But he'd spend most chases laughing during the chase as to how the killer couldn't get him. This makes him sound like a terrible person, but he's not he just knew how to abuse dead hard to the max.

Dead was not the sole issue, but Jesus was it a big one.

Actually, quite a few people are basically saying it was dead hard. There are plenty of posts of people complaining that killers are op because of all their buffs and there’s always that one guy who says “just learn how to get good without using dead hard” and there are plenty of posts from killer mains who literally say “survivors are throwing fits because they can’t use dead hard anymore”. When I haven’t seen 1 post or comment or anything where a survivor mentions needing/wanting dead hard to be brought back and saying that killers are OP because dead hard was nerfed. So I’m not sure why you would think people on this forum would believe your lie but we all see the same forum as you.

and as to your friend being able to be chased for 3-4 minutes, you do realize dead hard was only a perk that worked for like 2 seconds right? Sure, you can get to another loop and extend the amount of time you were being chased but your friend won’t just automatically become a bot survivor because dead hard was nerfed, he still was able to loop and mind game the killer for minutes at a time. Dead hard just EXTENDED the amount of time he was able to loop/mind game the killer. So in reality dead hard didn’t give him any of his skill.. it just gave him more time to use it. I can tell you don’t really have thousands of hours put into this game but trust me, a decent amount of people are saying survivors are mad because of the dead hard nerf, and dead hard didn’t provide any skill so after its nerf, survivors didn’t lose any skill, they just lost time in chases. Which then impacts the amount of time gens can be worked on, and then since killers can recover faster, killers get kills faster, which makes chases even more faster, which makes gen pressure even more prominent. BUT ALSO now gens take an extra 10 seconds to complete which makes it even more difficult to complete gens on top of everything else I mentioned, Let alone if they use slowdown perks on top of that.

Logged into DBD for today, tried to play killer to work on achievements and challenges. Never get into a match after... 10 minutes or so? Then I made the mistake of playing solo queue in order to work on survivor challenges.

I had fun dying first to a (admittedly half decent) Nemesis, followed by a Feng dcing after I died after getting hooked for a 3rd time. No idea why, she didn't answer me in post game chat. The game was effectively ruined for my teammates because I... died?

This DC isn't the first I've had this patch by the way, I've been running into DCs every 2 to 3 games.

Sounds like this patch is indeed quite bad. Survivors are DCing as these forums say, and the queue times are getting bad as well. Next update should address solo queue 100%, it's a disaster right now.

EDIT: Added clarification, added more to my post.

What is it with everyone's assumption that everyone is angry because of DH's nerf. Getting old.

It’s because killers want everybody to believe that it was dead hard that made survivors live and dead hard only. They don’t want their ego to be hurt. And they don’t want the devs to look at the other actual problems so the devs don’t nerf those actual problems and killers stay OP

Multiple times I’ve looped the killer like crazy only to go down and hooked right before/as the last gen was complete. Got unhooked within a couple seconds and no doors were even started yet only to run a little bit and go down again because I didn’t have OTR. But even if I did, no doors were started and it wouldn’t have been a “free escape” I still would’ve had to loop/run away from the killer until the exit was opened or until he lost me

I've read a lot of discussions here since the update came out and i've encountered this joke many times where killer mains were telling survivors to adapt to the new meta. The new meta is camping and tunneling and getting trash teammates every game. Why are you guys so delusional? The killers are literally running insane slowdown perks even with the base nerf of generators like the crazy 30% debuff speed from just a 1stack pentimento mixing it with thana. I have 4k hours in this game and i play both sides. I used to play survivor with Spotify playing now i'm doing that when i'm playing killer. The problem rn is not that you can't press E anymore, the problem is literally that killers can use their abilities near the hook and tunnel straight of the bat. That 5 second bt doesn't do anything. The only useful perk in the game's entire history was ds cause it actually had some impact on tunneling and now that it's turned into a ######### perk all of a sudden everyone is tunneling assuming that nobody is running ds and every game is just one survivor gone and 4 gens left. And please don't talk about skill here! this game was always casual af. nurse and blight mains saying OUR ABILITIES NEED SKILL! It's just that it has less to zero counterplay. I think developers of this game don't even know how to play their own killers or test anything before it goes to live servers. They just create a custom lobby and bring some useless perks and see if they are working as intended! Playing this game for a long time only has proven that devs don't really understand their own game and it's not an insult, it's a fact. I'll be playing killer until further patches lol.

I’d have to agree. I haven’t played a whole ton since the update came out but when I have there has been a camper or tunneler every game. Literally 4 or 5 gens left and everybody is killed. And then the occasional (like maybe 2 games) where the killer didn’t down anybody until 1 gen left and ended up getting 1 kill. But I was honestly super hyped for this update and it turns out it’s even worse than I thought it could be. I truly don’t even want to play survivor at all anymore. I just played 2 games where 2 people gave up because there’s no chance of winning and just told the killer to kill them and one killed themself on hook and the killer refused to kill the other so he just DC’d. It’s honestly not fun anymore but I’m going to give it a little more to actually see.

but honestly I’ve been trying to get my brother and some friends to play this game and I am 100% not doing that anymore. They’ll hate playing it after this update. Sucks

  • Think about what you just said for more than a second.. “do you think people wanted to play matches that were over in the first couple of minutes because the SWF had perfect comms and they plowed through gens”. ..Are you seriously comparing only some games that have a SWF to all games that have the buffs to killers now? Please lmfao you tried twisting his words and laughing at him but you just made yourself look funny 😂

    @TrustyJoat said:

"Killers are having too much fun. I'm taking my ball and going home."

Jesus, I love this update; it's really pulled back the curtain and shows just how many Survivors have no idea how to do basic things like Loop, Kite, etc. and were just relying on second chance perks to bully Killers.

"I don't want to play matches where effectively the game is over for us in the first couple of minutes because we have little chance of coming back from a mistake due to [STUPID REASON]"

Now put yourself in the Killers shoes before the patch. Do you think people wanted to play matches that were 'over in the first couple of minutes" because the SWF has perfect comms and is plowing 3 gens in the first 2 minutes of the match before the killer can even get a hook?

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, you're going to uninstall and come to the DBD forums to complain about a game you apparently aren't playing anymore. 😂

They got bumped to 6 and kept all of their perks.

Meanwhile a character I did prestige 3x does not have all perks, showing you that I dont have everything unlocked across the board.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/EIFDYYRSILQF/screenshot-1196.png

If you've lost perks after the update I would submit a bug report.

I was confused about that also when I looked at my characters but I realized that it’s because of the “general perks” (ones that aren’t teachables) like lightweight, kindred, etc that I’m missing on those characters

  • @alnic123 said:

I have 2 survivors, David and Dwight that I know i had unlocked every perk in the game to tier 3.

Is this how it's meant to be?

No that’s not supposed to happen. Are you sure you had every perk in the game maxed out? Could you tell me how many pages of perks you had before the update?

  • @alnic123 said:

So I still have to go and unlock them again.. Which would be countless bloodwebs considering there's only 4 per web at most

not sure what you’re talking about but if you got all your characters to level 40 before the update then you unlocked all teachables on them and through the update/prestige conversion those “teachables” that you unlocked are now automatically unlocked on every single other character at tier 1. You then can either get jake to prestige 2/3 to unlock iron will tier 2/3 on every single other character automatically or you can just go over to haddie and go through blood webs normally and hope to find tier 2/3 of iron will in her bloodweb the traditional way.

the only thing that’s different is that in order to find let’s say residual manifest in jakes blood web after the update, if you didn’t have haddie to level 30/35/40 before the update, you now have to get baddie to prestige 1 in order to unlock her perks on other characters. Which in turn takes a little bit longer but also unlocks all 3 of her perks automatically on every single other survivor at tier 1. And then like I said before you can go through other characters blood webs and find tier 2/3 of her perks or you can upgrade her to p2/p3 and automatically unlock them on all other characters at tier 2/3. Which helps with the overall grind.

i will say that this system more or so helps with playing killer than helps survivor because typically you’ll only be playing 1 or 2 main survivors so now it takes longer to get those teachables on your main survivors. It’s the same for killers but all killers are different so being able to automatically unlock perks on every killer is great but not as meaningful for survivors. Still cool though but just a way better system for killers
