Pretty much everything you just stated is either factually wrong or completely contradicts your arguments. Numbers aren't low? Devs want kill rates to be something around 60% as it seems. So by their definition kill rates were too low. Killers cried until they got their buffs? Killers have cried for years and have even quit the game because survivors were getting stronger and stronger with new maps and their precious, now thankfully nerfed, E key. The devs did not make these changes just to please killer players or they would have acted years ago. Also, you just went on about how killers altered the numbers by showing mercy, therefore convincing devs to make these changes. How do those two arguments fit together? Next up: The game should be stressful?! The game was literally designed as a party game. We've come a long way since then but the fact remains. A game that is stressful above all else has no chance of surviving for long. Tell me, who is scared of the killer in DBD? As a survvivor you do gens and try to loop the killer sometimes even running up to them so you have some interaction. Of course you might experience a thrill, but this has nothing to do with stress. Stress means you're feeling exhausted afterwards, not wanting to play again. The number one reason anyone ever plays a game is because they want to have fun in any way. Killers were stressed and therefore left the game. The ones that remained were the sweaties, including the campers and tunnelers, and the more chill sort of players. Even the fact that MMR was added to the game doesn't change the fact that you should be paired with players that are more or less as good as you so that there won't be someone that can loop the killer for 5 gens straight or end every single chase in under 10 seconds. More balanced matches = More balanced outcomes = Less frustration = More fun = More players = More money. At least in theory.

I've never once said that killers are purposefully altered the numbers by showing mercy, I was simply stating that by showing mercy the killers are skewing the numbers. By no means do I think that a killer will join a match just to try and skew number. Yes games can be stressful that doesn't mean that you don't want to get better at the game. Have you ever played cup head? That game can be stressful as all hell no thrill at all but that didn't stop it from becoming a game that people love and enjoy. Just because a game is stressful doesn't mean that it isn't fun. Jump scares happen all the time in dbd, I've seen killer steamers that have gone out of their way to try and scare a survivor. Are horror movies scary? Not all the time but sometimes a jump scare happens and that's the point. Why would you watch a horror movie if not to get scared? Did killers deserve a buff, sure but that doesn't mean that each game should provide them with 4k which has happened in pretty much every game I have played as killer since the patch. If you want to talk about money then the game should cater to new players who will spend much more money than anyone that has been playing for years. Do you think that the $10 you spend on the tome is enough to keep the lights on or the dlc that will be purchased once by a player that has been around for years. New players will bring in much more revenue than any die hard because they will buy dlc and cosmetics that most have already purchased years ago. Fact is most people will start the game playing as survivor so by your statement since the game is now much more stressful for survivor players then why would they stick around? We can already see that survivors are leaving the game in droves or switching to killer by the long match making times. When I play survivor in a group of 4 I find a match almost instantly however, when I play killer I find myself sitting for 5m before I find a match. Matchmaking times will only get worse as more survivors leave considering that most of the games killers get paired with are solo queue matches.

  • @Xernoton said:

Ok, so first of all... Come again? Now it's not ok for a killer to let a survivor they respect live? What about survivors who kill themselves for the killer? I've seen both and honestly this is a much healthier alternative than everyone sweating every single game and hating on the other side. If you want to be stressed by a game, good for you, but many, probably most of us, want to play the game, sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience because life is stressful enough.

I know you might think that's why the numbers are so low that the devs decided to do something about it, but let's be real here. If this was the issue, why now? Why now all of a sudden would the numbers go down? It doesn't happen more often than before, does it? So if it makes any difference at all, this difference would be more or less constant over time, thus not altering kill rates in any meaningful way.

If you can't be happy or grateful for someone trying to be nice, that's on you. The rest of us will enjoy encountering nice players every and now and then.

The numbers aren't even low. Killers were already averaging 2-3 kills per game anyways. The fact is that these cry baby killers complained enough that the devs decided to give them buffs. The reason is because more people would rather play survivor than killer so they have to bend over for the killers to keep them playing. You are playing a game that is literally designed to cause stress and that's why people love the game. Its stressful being a survivor and hearing the heartbeat and no knowing if the killer knows where you are. Its stressful for a killer that is dealing with a survivor that can loop them for 5 gens. If you aren't experiencing some stress while playing that means that the devs have failed. I mean you are running from a killer what's for stressful than that? I've also never seen a survivor kill themselves for the killer yet I've seen a killer lets multiple survivors escape in countless games I've played. Not saying it doesn't happen I've just never seen it and I probably play this game way more than I should.

  • @Grigerbest said:

Roger that! I'm gonna kill every single survivor no matter what mmr, no human feelings, no hatches.

If anything, blame this person, not me!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336609/killers-should-not-let-survivors-win

If honestly, if killer decides to let survivor\s escape, it's his decision and he's aware of lowering his bp reward for doing so.

    I personally, don't give a single *** about numbers or ratings. If I want, I give them a hatch, If I don't - I don't.

Cool blame me for you playing the game as intended. A killer should not let a survivor win my any means unless the survivor is skilled enough to escape.

How do you expect me to track down an off-hand remark made by the devs months if not years ago?

It doesn't make any kind of sense to include it in escape figures, because it's not an earned escape, survivors do not need to win in order to get the hatch.

It is neutral, it doesnt count as an escape, and it doesn't count as a kill.

ahh the standard I'm not gonna look it up but take my word for it. Regardless if a killer drops you on the hatch then they could have gotten the kill thereby skewing the numbers and not providing the system with the proper number of kills that they should have gotten.

He is a grandpa, you gotta talk a bit louder haha

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336609/killers-should-not-let-survivors-win

yep I have no mercy for any survivor. Im "sweating" for the 4ks aka I slug 3rd to catch all. I dont give hatch, I kill everyone. I feel bad for them, usually I often give last one hatch if they were good players and didnt try to piss me off. But rn as I said no mercy, BHVR will get real kill rate numbers from me at least

Yes please do. I've started playing killer more since the update and I don't let anyone escape unless they find the hatch first (which apparently doesn't matter to kill rates). I've been getting 4k all day and I'm pretty good as killer but no where near a pro. Killers just need to stop expecting 4k as a win.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3086051#Comment_3086051

It makes complete sense, it's not a valid escape.

The hatch can spawn at 5 gens, it just requires that 3 other survivors are dead. That's a loss for the survivors.

The hatch then provides a 50/50 hail mary for the survivor. It's not an earned escape, it's a consolidation prize.

That's why it's not counted in escape figures, and why it's MMR neutral. Survivors don't gain MMR for a hatch escape and killers don't lose MMR either.

Like I said, you're literally wasting everyone's time, yours inuded, if you think refusing the hatch is going to send any kind of message.

Where did you get the information that the hatch doesn't count? Have the devs said that it doesn't if so please provide a source and I will gladly start taking the hatch when the killer gives it to me. This still doesn't account for when a killer will open the door and let survivors leave.

  • @FriendlyKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336609/killers-should-not-let-survivors-win

I dunno man. I just came off a LONG losing streak as survivor. Everyone is still adjusting to all the changes from the new patch and i felt bad. I still have lots of flans on my artist so I loaded some up and had a few games where I double hooked and let everyone farm and leave. It felt nice and the survivors sure did seem to appreciate it.

    Must we always tryhard?

yes because then the devs will have correct numbers to look at.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084513#Comment_3084513

You re the one out touch if you think this happens on such a large scale it would change average data even in the slightest. Not to mention it only counts gate escapes, not hatch

Where does it say that hatch doesn't count? Even still that's a kill that could have counted. Play the game as intended and get the kill if you can.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084543#Comment_3084543

Why? The hatch doesn't count as an escape as far as kill rates go, it's neutral.

At that point, it's a 50/50 chance you get to the hatch first anyway, you're not skewing any data.

You're just wasting everyone's time, your own BP, and the killer's good faith.

Where did you see that the hatch doesn't count towards escaping because that makes no sense what so ever? How do you know it doesn't count?

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084576#Comment_3084576

Well I mean, it never gets down to 1 person for me because I always let all 4 out (or 3 if I can legit not remember if you were on death hook), honestly, I'm pretty sure my MMR is decreasing for doing this, and I'm fine with that, more time to be nice for survivors just getting into the game

And you are proving my point by saying that you let all of the survivors escape. So thank you.

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084567#Comment_3084567

But... you're saying take the 4k because it shows true stats, but also don't take it because I camped and tunneled in the process of getting it? I legit can't see where you're coming from

No if you get 4k by camping or tunneling then ok, it just means you are a bad killer. If you are down to one survivor and you just stand there watching while they finish generators or find the hatch then you should have killed them.

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084556#Comment_3084556

Because survivors are always screaming about no tunneling or camping, so I always go for 2 hooks because I want to, but by your logic apparently I'm only allowed to 4k because I deserve it

If you have to camp or tunnel you are not a good killer first of all. I never said you deserve 4k if you can get it you should quit padding the numbers to suit killers so they get buffed every patch like they have for the past 4 patches.

  • @EntityNea said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084479#Comment_3084479

The developers need to look at more than winrate.

If that's all they look at (which i doubt), then this game is doomed

Devs literally said that killers aren't getting the amount of kills they want to see.

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084543#Comment_3084543

That's... such backwards logic, I guess you really can't please everyone

How so? Please tell me how its backwards? If the killer doesn't kill me it tell the devs the killers aren't getting all the kills per game they should be. So please explain?

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336609/killers-should-not-let-survivors-win

How do you waste a killers time if they don't pay any attention to you? None the less, it wouldn't work on me, cause I play doc

Cool if it doesn't work for you but when a killer is trying to give me the win whey they could have clearly killed me ill just stand there. If they try to drop me on the hatch ill sit there until my timer runs out. Most of the time they get bored and put me on hook.

I bought the chicken clown cosmetic solely for the joy it brings me to farm with survivors in it because it's a wonderful pun. I literally play chicken clown with no perks and just the party bottle addon and only go for direct hits on them with the yellow bottles. It makes me happy. I've odne it for years. I also play every PTB as said chicken clown to meme on twitch players. These things make me happy.

I refuse to quit because the devs are only interested in listening to balancing advice from sweat lord killer mains who wake up every morning and look themselves in the mirror and say to themselves "you HAVE to tunnel and camp to win!"

You dont have to tunnel and camp to win. If you do you just suck at the game. Also, you dont have to win every game. You dont have to play to win. You can play to have fun. Remember fun, Jimmy? You used to love having fun.

Well said. Killers must expect 4k every game to consider it a win. I consider 2k a win when I play killer. Although its been 4k almost every match right now.

  • @bm33 said:

If someone DCs it's fine, devs don't count the games where there's atleast 1 DC. Probably doesn't help that survivors DC when they're losing and not when they're winning so alot of 3k/4k matches didn't count towards kill rates thanks to the survivors that DC'd.

I'm not talking about DC. If the killer kills all but the last survivor and then tries to take them to the hatch or opens the door for them then they are letting them win.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084479#Comment_3084479

What's the amount of survivors let go, like.. 0.5%?

Think I'd rather just accept the killer's generosity and not waste their time than slap it out of their hands over a percent of a percent of a percent.

I just had a killer let my whole squad leave the match its got to be more than that.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336609/killers-should-not-let-survivors-win

How do you waste their time? If they are letting you live, realistically the only thing you can do is let the entity kill you during EGC. Is that what you are talking about?

They have to close the hatch for that to happen. So if a killer drops me by the hatch ill just sit there and do something else on my computer until they get bored and close it or put me on a hook. If a killer should have obviously gotten the kill then they should just end the game.

  • What do you mean what? Since the devs are looking at the number of kills per game if a killer is letting survivors escape they are padding that metric. I didn't think that would be hard to understand.

  • @Dunkinspunkin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084356#Comment_3084356

So you're saying you want to hold the devs hostage. Either buff survivors so they have the easy life again or you're gonna take your money and run.

That's not how it works, chief. They try to make a balanced game. You can play it or leave. You got used to your crouch spam and bully squads and now things got a LITTLE harder and you wanna run away scared. Not our prob.

No one said anything about holding the devs hostage. That's such a stupid remark. People will leave the game and then they will sell less cosmetics and dlc. Why the hell would any casual or new player want to stick around to spend money if every game is a loss? Wait until all the killers are running into nothing but SWF. Like I said killer queues are getting longer every day because people are leaving. Less people means less revenue. Please by all means you you keep spending your 10 buck every tome and that will keep them in business. Fact is most games killer gets paired against are solo queues which were already easy to win against.

  • @Mister_xD said:

If it wasn't DH, then what exactly has changed with the latest patch that made soloQ so much more miserable than it was before?

SoloQ has always been a cointoss on whether your team is able to do the most basic tasks required from them or not, that hasn't changed. 10 additional seconds on a gen don't really matter when you are the only one doing them, you won't finish anyway. So that has stayed the same.

And if you're going to point towards chases and people going down immediately now, then I'll simply point back to Dead Hard. The crutch is gone and many can't really play without it, which shows. People that soley relied on chases and ignored away every other aspect of this game are suddenly a lot worse than before, as they don't know how to stealth, do gens efficiently or loop properly (without DH) - which, sadly, is a lot of the players. So the amount of Survivors not actually doing a whole lot for you in soloQ matches has increased due to the DH nerf. They will get back to where they were and be a useful part of the team again eventually, but before that they will, you guessed it, have to learn to loop without DH or adapt in a different way.

Is soloQ in a bad spot? Sure, I'm not denying that. But it has been in said bad spot for about 6 years now and has repeatedly been neglected by the Devs. That is not a good thing, but it is not like that was new with this update either.

And Killers certainly needed the buffs, they were in a miserable spot before as well - and it is not their fault that the Devs don't seem give a damn about the soloQ experience.

Why do people keep contradicting themselves. If solo queue has always been bad then DH wasn't the issue.

  • @Dunkinspunkin said:

Game was survivor sided. Devs specifically said kill rates were too low. How exactly did you THINK they were gonna handle this problem, give killers bots to kill? Nah, the game was gonna get harder for weak survivors. They were very clear about this.

Then they will lose people and revenue. Its already almost 5 minute queue for killer and its only gonna get worse as more casual and new players leave. Queues will continue to get worse until killers are waiting 20 minutes just to get paired with SWF parties. What killers don't understand is that 70% if not more of their games are against solo queues which are objectively easier to win against because of lack of communication and bad match making pairing.

  • This is one salty killer post for sure. If you were decent at killer before the update you weren't getting bullied that much. It must suck to suck I suppose.

  • @Vetrathene said:

It seems since the patch a number of survivor mains have been screaming at the top of thier lungs that it is now impossible to escape. As a person who is usually killer but has been playing more Survivor since the map, and never having used DH whenever I did play before this patch, it seems fine. You just have to work now. I agree solo q is rougher, but its not as bad as people seem to think. Out of the about 20 games I've played since the patch has been out as Survivor, I would say I've escaped close to half the time, and pipped about 90% of the time. Maybe thats not the same for everyone, but it goes to show its still quite possible to do fine as a Survivor after the patch. Adjust your builds, learn to loop and juke, and learn to weigh the risks and rewards of various strategies. Think like a Killer has had to for years, and you too can do great as Survivor.

Except your MMR rating for survivor will be low so of course you will be running into easier matches. When a survivor main complains its because they have higher MMR and are running into good killers that were able to get consistent downs before this update. Now its 4k almost every game. Killer mains have gotten buffs or seen survivor nerfs for the last 4 patches and they are still complaining. Also, stop saying that DH is the reason people are complaining. Its about the base buffs to killer and the fact that they nerfed almost nothing for their perks.

Those would really help solo q, finally someone understands that killer is not the problem, it's the gap between solo and swf

Right the gap between solo and swf is so large its astonishing. Especially when killers will get paired with solo 70% of their games or more. There are a lot more solo queues than there are swf that for sure.

Decided to play a bit of killer recently and I'm feeling a little worried about how it felt. Killer is easier, yes, but I don't feel like it's because I'm playing better or the survivors or playing worse, it just feels like the survivors have way less tools to actually help. Even when just holding w, I seem to gain bloodlust 1 before I catch up to them, which doesn't feel right and seems cheap. Anybody else having this issue?

I played killer all day yesterday and plan to today to see if I can start getting paired against these better teams people keep talking about. I got 4k in all but 2 games yesterday and only one game did the survivors get all the generators done and I was still able to get 4k. I'm not the best killer and it already seemed quite boring before the update and now its just seeming insanely easy.

I'm not a killer main. I can safely say I play at 50/50 ratio. Before this patch, playing on either sides was boring as hell. On surv side it was almost all the time 5min gen simulator and on killer side it was 5 min gen rush stomps and bullysquads with flashlights, DS, BT, IW, DH, Head On, CoH etc... The only way to kill players was to use only certain perks if you wanted to have at least some results it, and even then it was mainly 1-2K's

This patch was good for the game. It has been out for two days. Let's just wait and see how it goes.

Well I can tell you that I've been playing killer all day and have only lost one match and had one match with one survivor escape. Every other match has been 4k and I main survivor. By no means am I an amazing killer, decent but not amazing and for me to go from 2k to 4k every game really shows how powerful this buff was for casual killers. So imagine how powerful the buff was for killers that were always getting 4k almost every game. It would get boring fast.

This has been a problem for a few years now... But the other way around. New killers left because survivors stomped them from the get go. How does it feel to be on the other end of table now?

Most people start as a survivor and you know it. Hows it gonna feel when everyone is playing killer and all you run into is SWF. You will get beat every game and cry to the devs then they will cave and buff killers again. Killer mains are such crybabies.

  • @brewingtea said:

Hey, hey, maybe keep that on the dl

I think its funny that people are still saying that it was just the DH and IW nerf thats causing these issues. Killer got a major buff with this patch and they were buffed or survivor was nerfed in the last three before this.

New players won't know the difference. For anyone starting playing now, this will be normal for them.

I started playing in 2019 and I am sure some changes were going on then that made parts of the player base mad, but I wouldn't know cause changes right when or before I started were not part of my experience. Likewise, players starting right around now aren't going to feel like some injustice is being done to them because what came before wasn't part of their experience.

People can tell them, but ultimately that doesn't do much.

The issue here is that people don't like change. A lot of people flat out can't cope with it, as we are seeing. But new players aren't feeling that change like established players are, and they won't.

New survivors will lose their games to new killers every time because killer is so easy. So they wont stay for long.

  • @Card_Eater said:

It used to feel like a struggle to get 4k and I would sweat my ass off. It was really nice being able to relish a win that I barely got.

Now, Killer feels like easy mode. A lot of the challenge isn't there anymore, and I do not need to put the same effort in that I used to. I seriously have played 2 hours of killer today, and not once did I get anything less than a 4k (barring the survivors I gave hatch to, ofc).

I know what you mean. I don't play killer much anymore because it was pretty easy to secure 2 kills a game and the update has just made it 4k almost every game. I've played killer for 5 hours today (and by no means am I the best killer) and I've had 1 survivor legitimately escape because I always give the last survivor the chance to find the hatch. Of my other games I gave 2 people the win because their teammates were afk and they didn't even stand a chance with out them and I lost one game by my own mistakes because I was playing on Grave of Glenvale and didn't open any of the doors that you can break and I left most pallets unbroken. Game is so easy on killer now yet killer mains are still complaining.

Umm... There is no scenerio where the grind is worse for perks. Old system, unlocking a perk does not give you the perk at tier 1. New system, you get the perk at tier 1 when unlocking the perk and each prestige increases the tier at which it is unlocked at.

If you think the perk grind has increased, you're not very good at calculating costs.

If im understanding correctly (i might not be). You have to have the character for the perk you purchase and then will get the next tier. For example if i purchase CoH at level 1 the only way to get level 2 is by waiting for it to show up in the shrine or having mikaela and then i would have to prestige her.

  • I think it funny how they said they were supposed to lessen the grind on the game and then made players have to buy each tier of a perk from the shrine before you can then spend more shards to buy the next level. That increases the grind by a lot imo.

That could be, I would define new player as someone that is just picking up the game for their first time. Having the advantage of 100% quieter grunts of pain is super useful to someone that is just picking up the game.

New players will not quit or avoid the game because of this update. They didn’t play the game before, so they never relied on dead hard and iron will as crutches. They will continue to buy the game, which is currently on sale

This is not true because I've been able to get a few of my friends to the game. When they started IW was one of the best perks for helping them stay alive. Now they don't need it because they are semi-decent at the game and have put a little bit of money in the game to get perks such as off the record. Which is now better imo if you are able to be healed within the 80 seconds. Proving that a new player will buy perks just to make themselves a little more powerful, whereas the die hard people that have been around for a while will have already purchased this.

I can't speak for the "Will they lose players" portion because nobody knows.

What I can tell you is that this patch is bad for new players.

Thank you this has been my point from the get go.

LOSE revenue? After collabing with attack on titan! LOL

Jesus the amount of people that don't read and comprehend what they are reading is insane on these forums. I said new players bring in much more revenue that those that have been around for a long time. You may spend $40 on new AoT skins but a new player has to buy the game and then they end up spending money on skins and other dlc you probably already own. Please read the post next time.

Meh in my experience, a team of good solo survivors can still definitely win against killers. And killer against them is also not easy. Though I guess it kind of depends how much you utilize camping and tunneling. If you go full camping and tunneling, than killer is rather easy often enough. But still, even a good solo team can definitely do well.

This is why again I said that the problem is that the devs sadly stopped when they should have addressed survivors frustrations as well. I understand that giving solo survivors more information and nerfing camping and tunneling would have been a bit much for one such patch maybe. But they surely should have done one of those things. In my opinion the most important thing to do for survivors is to nerf camping and tunneling. There is nothing more unfun to go against than those strategies.

Definitely agree camping and tunneling are huge problems and they severely ruin the gaming experience.

You mean gain, right? Do you know how much new AoT skins I saw being played? Yea... $$$

Did you read the post? New players bring in much more revenue than players that have been around for years. You spend $40 on skins a new player spends that just to get the game, then there are the cosmetics and other dlc to buy.

4K'ing is easy when it against people that dont know what they're doing but when against people of equal skill it can very easily be a 2k but then you added map RNG, tile RNG, and gen RNG, and suddenly being skillful at something per say clown then 4k'ing suddenly becomes very much uncommon when everything is stacked in the other sides favor 90% of the time.

see this is a huge issue. Killer mains should not expect a 4k every game. They bitched for long enough and now can get 4k no problem.

Wait... "By nerfing Iron Will it makes it much harder to learn the game and mechanics". When you used old Iron Will, it eliminated the game mechanic of the Killer can hear you in pain. How is that "learning the mechanic" when you basically just take it out of the game?

Iron will was the best perk to help learn looping and mind games while being able to effectivly hide from the killer. Giving a new player at least a chance at survival. Now killer will hear you from a mile away and they will have no chance.

New players with 1 perk are gonna play against 293823k hours killer mains? Did I miss something with this patch?

No you misunderstand. I get it though its tough to read. New players will lose to any killer they get paired against because killer is so much easier now. Place a new player with at new killer with only 1 perk each and the killer wins every time. I have been strictly talking about new players this whole time. Reading comprehension is a thing that people on the internet seem to not get.
