  • As a Silent Hill veteran from those days, I'd say a big fat NO.

I agree with @TheShape78 , Pyramid Head only belongs in Silent Hill 2. He's not a monster/slasher/boogeyman, he (and Maria) only "exist" because of James' actions.

IMO Silent Hill 2's story and characters represent the pinnacle of Horror in videogames and the awful movie was already a huge disservice to the franchise.

No one from "back in the day" SH would want Pyramid Head being kited around waist-high debris and have chunks of wood dropped on top of him like the rest of the chumps, only to get teabagged at the exit gates. It would make absolute zero sense.

  • And the same path could be taken with your survivor.

It's been a long time since I played survivor at a high rank, but I could say you may want to go for these teachables, depending on your playstyle:

    "Runner/second chance perks"

    Meg: Sprint burst, Adrenaline

    Claudette: Self care

    Nea: Balanced landing

    Feng: Lithe

    Laurie: DS

    Adam: Deliverance

    "Stealth perks"

    Meg: Q&Q

    Jake: Iron will, Calm spirit

    Nea: Urban evasion

    Feng: Alert

    "Good teammate perks"

    Dwight: Bond

    Claudette: Empathy

    Ace: Open handed

    David: WGLF

    Jeff: Aftercare

Ash: Arguably, new MoM will fit in a "good teammate build"

-----------bond, empathy, aftercare, have slightly different effects and conditions, but you'll do fine with only one of them

  • If I could start over again, I'd make different decisions to prevent an excessive grind.

This is only my opinion and by no means I'm the holder of the absolute truth.

Yes, I'd play Leatherface first, both to profit from BBQ and to get it as a teachable. But here's the spin: DON'T unlock other teachables which will only clutter the bloodweb and make you waste millions of bloodpoints in the long run.

If you're lucky, you'll get both BBQ III and the teachable right at level 35. If not, keep playing until you get both. But remember, don't unlock other teachables.

Then, if the intention is playing Myers with a strong build (and keep some flexibility), I'd level the next characters for certain perks, playing as Leatherface and Doctor (with BBQ):

    "Mandatory perks"

Doctor ------> M&A, hands down the best perk for Myers

Trapper ----> Agitation, you'll save a lot of time while carrying and will always find a hook

Nurse ------> Nurse's Calling, extra benefit from M&A

    "Strong perks, real good"

    Spirit --------> Spirit Fury

Billy ------> Enduring, coupled with spirit fury, you'll eat pallets and ask for seconds

    "Good perks, not essential"

Clown -------> Bamboozle, extra benefit at Evil Within III

Trapper -------> Brutal Strength, for the ultimate pallet eater build

I don't use Hex: Ruin, but arguably you should also get it from the Hag

And remember to never unlock any other teachable. Even only unlocking these perks I mentioned will already need around 7 - 8 million bloodpoints. But getting them to tier III in Myers will take another 3 - 4 million if you have good luck.

If you make the mistake of unlocking other perks, it could take you 150 bloodweb levels (or many more) just to get BBQ III, for example. That's a lot of wasted time and points in perks you'll never use.

I have played Myers at R1 successfully with this simple build:

    BBQ, Agitation, M&A, NC

coupled with Dead Rabbit and J. Myers Memorial as add-ons

With this build, I've only struggled against strong coordinated teams. But the same happens to all the killers (except 2 or 3) so, anyway.

    Hope this helps.

  • Killer: 3-way tie between Billy, Huntress and Bubba

    Survivor: Jeff \m/

Half of these are bannable offenses and virtually none of them are rewarded.

The only - kind of - bannable one would be the aura sandbagging. But it's very difficult to prove, since you don't have access to the sandbagger's POV, and they could just argue it was a mistake and not intentional.

Everything else happens all the time, and yes, it's rewarded. Either with points (unhooks), chase escapes (killer goes for the other guy), points AND escapes (hatch camping), shiny new stuff (item snatching).

  • Yeah let's keep rewarding failure:

    • Doing nothing and camping the hatch
    • Dropping pallets on other survivors' heads
    • Bond/Empathy/Aftercare sandbagging
    • Unhooking people in the killer's face, without BT
    • Window/pallet blocking
    • Item snatching after Franklin's
    • Missing skillchecks while healing others

Why not? They should even start giving out trophies/achievements for all these, like F13's "Chad is a Dick"

    .

  • Huntress and Billy for the ultimate killing machine

  • I don't find relying on add-ons too bad, honestly. Most killers are really good even with common add-ons, which are cheap and easy to find in bloodwebs.

The problem for me begins when the killer is useless even WITH common add-ons, and really needs the pink and purple ones to even pose a semi-threat at high ranks. Looking at you, Trapper.

  • How about Monstrous Shrine forcing 60 secs exhaustion upon both unhooker and unhooked?

Brutal strength gets an additional 2% stronger with every gen done?

Sole survivor will give you 3/4/5% movent speed on 1/2/3 teammates dead?

Windows of opportunity will let you fast vault 1 window regardless of angle, distance?

  • @weirdkid5 said:

Correct. I think it would only be bannable in cases of trapping the remaining Survivors in the basement before the End Game, or trapping the last Survivor in a corner before the End Game.

The other scenarios the game will technically eventually end so long as the other Survivors open an exit gate.

This no longer applies, since collision in basement stairs has been adjusted in the last patch.

  • I don't think this would fit Ghostface, him being a "normal" human being and all.

    Freddy on the other hand...

  • @Peanits please delete this

  • @DocOctober They have received a ton of criticism lately, for sure. I haven't agreed with many decisions they've made either. I've posted my inconformity in a civilized manner and I've already voted with my wallet about some of those decisions.

You said it right, it will take some effort to fully regain the trust of their community veterans.

What I'm just saying is there's no need to get personal or rude with them. It shows a lack of maturity from many forum members, and it only guarantees that whatever is being said just gets discarded and ignored as a childish rant.

    So yes, they count.

  • Say whatever about David.

He's the guy I'll always want on my team.

He's got your back and will throw himself to the train rails if needed to protect his teammates.

A hundred times better than locker Dwight. What kind of "Leader" does that? SMH

I just wanna say how ######### hilarious the OP title is.

I keep laughing everytime I look at the front page. Goddamnit OP why you gotta be so politically incorrect. I love it.

I think being dead and getting your limbs chopped off, as the Spirit had hers, qualifies you instantly as a disabled person. So OP is immersed, that's it.

  • @EldritchElise87 said:

Spirit alternates between being A tier on the same level as Billy in good hands and a dominant force to utterly useless depending on the current patch and how sounds work. Saying that the chase music should go off when using haunting though, but right now footsteps are broken again.

Also on the ptb they lowered chase music for survivors not killers.

    Really, just for survivors?

    Why would they do that?

  • @Someissues said:

ppl play Claudette not because shes popular, but because shes the best survivor in game for hiding

Feng needs more skins, Japanese school girl Feng when

Unless Feng was an exchange student abroad, there's no reason for her to have a Japanese schoolgirl outfit.

    But she's a dropout.

    And she's Chinese.

  • Just read your discussion title, please. Come on.

Harass and reason don't go in the same sentence.

If you dislike the state of the game that much and can't voice your inconformity in a civilized way, just leave buddy. Find another game.

That simple action on its own will bring you better results than calling people names and what not.

And about your statement, I disagree. Spirit is a very good killer. Piggy was fine before the last changes, and nothing is set in stone. Clown is not terrible either.

  • Yes I think I'll wait for the patch.

Right now I'm losing chases intentionally just to be able to hear survivors again...

  • In paper, it would work.

In reality, as soon as the pseudo-chosen ones leave BHVR's facility they'll rush to their computers and start making videos about what's coming next and what not, contributing to the uproar, unreasonable hype, unmet expectations and general disappointment.

All just over some ideas thrown around.

It would only work if they were BHVR's employees, signing contracts guaranteeing no leaks and all.

  • Sounds have been busted for quite some time now. They've acknowledged this fact and said they're working on it right now.

Are you playing the PTB? I can't because I'm on PS4, but I've read that they've lowered the chase music and indoor or behind walls gen sounds/footsteps have shown some improvement.

    edit: grammar

  • Will Freddy's rework have a PTB on its own?

  • @holywhitetrash said:

my god how many times are people going to suggest this non sense, it was tried survivors abused it and then it was removed

LOL. Ease down man, it's obvious OP is a new player, and a new forum member. So new that "babysitting" is used instead of the common word we all use for what's being described.

But yes. There's a search function you can use to read a lot of previous discussions regarding your concern.

You will find them under the word "camping"

  • Excuse me, but when did that even happen? Being met with open ridicule? I've never seen or heard that from them.

You may not like their decisions, I agree though. I happened to log in around the pre-release Legion stream where they ACTUALLY said not every killer was meant to be viable. Give or take words, they said "if you want to kill people pick Billy or Nurse".

At that moment I understood Legion was not my kind of killer. I knew what was their mindset at the time and decided not to buy it. No amount of crying and kicking the wall would turn Legion into a killer I would pick to play, ever. I'm not fully convinced about Plague yet, and looks like not many players pick her so there's not much info around effective ways of playing her, so I'm still sitting in the fence.

And there's no problem, I already play Billy, Huntress, Spirit, Leatherface, Myers, Wraith, Trapper, Doc, Piggy, all of whom I highly like.

Then MoM came and compromised my ability to enjoy playing half of them, and I voiced my opinion a hundred times in these forums. Not a single time I called them any names. I just expressed my dislike at the perk and proposed (along with a lot of players) ideas to change it. Peanits was participating in most of those threads (unsurprisingly, the ones not swearing and bashing them), and never ridiculed any player.

Guess what, they listened and they're trying to rework it and strike balance.

Either way, you choose what kind of person you are, because your actions define you.

I choose to be respectful, and if my inconformity ever gets to the point of going over my head, and there's nothing else I can do to communicate effectively, I'll just leave, instead of becoming aggressive with the devs.

It's a videogame. Not life and death. Not malnourished kids working 16 hours a day. Nothing worth being aggressive over, to summarize it.

Your option a) is for quitters and those who don't want the game to improve. Those people leave without a word and you never see them again.

The most vocal are those who appreciate the game and want it to succeed.

Being vocal does not equal being disrespectful. There's a huge difference.

And those people actually interested in the game improving, may take option B)

  • @Maximus7 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/512134#Comment_512134

It's not about it being a video game; the dev team actually doesn't think highly of their community's members as people. This is shown by their unwillingness to communicate with us or take any kind of feedback. They just do whatever they want and spit in our face.

But keep assuming I can't live without DBD, man.

DbD has a forum, a twitter account, streams, and people whose job is actually communicating with the playerbase.

If you think you've been ignored and their job is not good, stop paying for it and look for a better game. My guess is you've already milked enough hours out of an entertainment product with a price tag around $20 - $80 USD for the full stuff.

No one has spit in your face, ever. Stop it.

  • @Tzeentchling9 said:

Constructive criticism has previously been met with open scorn(remember the Spirit PTB was only 2 hours old) and complete disregard (Plague 4ks at rank 1 and you all need to learn how to use her).

Not much left to turn to after that.

Take option A) if you're really convinced about that. No need to be rude about it.

If half the things that are being said here behind anonimity were said in a real life neighborhood, teeth would fly all over the place.

  • @Maximus7 said:

When being civil has absolutely no impact, people turn to being more direct/aggressive. I went with the sarcastic approach in my thread.

But nobody should be surprised about this. They refuse to listen, we'll call them out for it.

Sure, because we're treating matters of the utmost importance here. You know, we're fixing poverty, hunger, human rights and stuff alike.

It's a videogame. Let that sink in.

  • A few times. But it just resets the progress to the last match played, so no big deal.

    Still shouldn't happen, though.

But imagine the bug resetting your progress to ZERO. Now that would suck.

  • While the Lullaby radius is unaffected, M&A III reduces the TR a whole 8 meters. That means Huntress will have just 12m of TR, enabling you to confuse and/or sneak up on survivors if you know your angles well.

Guys that are used to start running as soon as they hear the lullaby will keep doing the same, so M&A will only work on those survivors waiting for the TR to run or hide.

If you combine it with Nurse's calling III (28m), a lot of healers will be surprised.

  • The perk should be now called "Pick your Poison"

  • Well it goes like this:

Since Non-tunneling DS has no counter but to leave slugs, anti-slugging perks get buffed.

  • @weirdkid5 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/506815#Comment_506815

These people aren't going to see reason man. They take what happens in a video game at the personal level. You can't argue with something that insists legitimate gameplay actions as disrespectful.

Btw, if you sack the quarter back it's disrespectful. You should always let him get the pass off.

@weirdkid5 LOL too bad last season LBs were actually getting flagged for sacking the quarterback.

  • No.

That would just keep promoting lazy game development.

    Fix the maps instead.

  • I just chase/hit whoever I see first crossing my path.

    Then I hook and leave.

And I continue chasing/hitting whoever I see first crossing my path, be it the gen jockey, the runner, the unhooker or the unhooked.

  • @Poweas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/502412#Comment_502412

@Condorloco_26 What if you downed the 'unhooker' right after they unhooked with an instadown killer like Billy and instantly downed the 'unhooked' from some instacooldown.

Then you hook the 'unhooker' and then the 'unhookeds' DS is gone because of your nerf idea? You tunnelled him and exploited a way to remove his second chance.

Your idea would work and I would have agreed with if it, if it wasn't so abusable.

    @Poweas

I know for sure you like reasonable discussions, and my issue with the perk is not tied to "tunneling" at all. It has more to do with the easily exploitable situations that most people here are not even considering. They just don't get out of their dOn'T tUnNeL mindset.

Granted those "2 other guys hooked, still got hit by DS" situations have happened to me quite a few times, playing as Billy/Huntress. All of them in matches so close where a single whiff / hit tanked by MoM has an impact in the outcome, because playing vs teams in the red ranks go like that always.

Guy 1 hooked, guy 2 unhooks and I go after him. Guy 2 downed and hooked, guy 3 comes and unhooks. I go after guy 3, downed abd hooked, and then guy 1 comes for the save. It doesn't matter if healed or not.

At this point, there are potentially 2 guys with DS active, most likely some or all have MoM and BT too, as well as there are 2 potential deliverance guys.

In this situation, if you for the unhooker = DS. Unhooked = BT. Prevent the save and chase someone away from the hook = deliverance. Slug = crawl away from sight, different directions, unbreakable. Throw in an instaheal. You get my point.

The thing is, it's so hard to build any pressure in most maps, and to get it taken away artificially by all those stacked free extra chances just feels cheap, and it's always exploited by teams that know exactly what they're doing. That's the problem I see.

In your example: sure it feels bad to be the unhooked guy. But it's surv #2 who makes a mistake, he's the crappy player. But don't worry, rewarding game mechanics got your back.

Anyway, the killer is now forced to play dumb to not get hit by DS. And the worst thing is even letting guy #1 run free without smacking him won't prevent you from getting hit by DS 59 secs later. So now it's 2 hook chances being thrown away by a perk making up for a bad play from surv#2.

Anyway, whatever. I already know it won't change, it's just another extra chance in a sea of extra chances, and a killer should know that even playing by the made up set of rules, won't be enough.

So play dirty and get hit, play "nice" and get hit too. Pick your poison.

But don't equip iri heads, prayer beads, moris or instasaw, because 3 suckers will DC as soon as they find out.

They'll rework MoM though, which is the worst offender now.

Have a nice day and see you around

  • Because you get hit by it after hooking 2 other people. That's not tunneling. That's just dumb.

  • Getting lots of 3k = depip and 4k = black pip at the speed gens pop

  • Hey guys, Hi everyone.

    I don't like/have time to watch streams/videos.

I notice everyone is talking about "the rift", "the archives", this and that.

Do you know if there's somewhere I can read about this whole fuzz? I've looked into the whole forum for an explanation from the devs but can't find anything (or I'm looking in the wrong place)

    Thanks

  • Besides, that "4%" mysteriously becomes a lot higher whenever the match is completely tilted against survivors, say in a situation where 2 - 3 guys are hooked and you down another one.

I've experienced a lot of self-unhooks in that situation and the match practically resets after that.

There's no need to hand survivors further chances.

  • Pig?

Poor Piggy, her viability is compromised even with her most powerful add-ons. I can't picture her posing an actual threat at baseline vs a good team.

  • Gates open + DS, you go curl up in a corner, because most likely, you'll not be able to down the survivor again.

You can still try though, if you enjoy watching them buttdancing at the gates.

  • Life itself is biased.

The point is not going all the way to the "hard-head" state.
