Yes but you can't have upvotes without downvotes. The feedback is through the vote system. Like Nazzak mentioned, its just a simple matter of upvote = agree, downvote = disagree. Its convenience. What you're asking for is an explanation or reply from people who downvote you b/c you are assuming they either don't like you, have ulterior motives, haven't read your post fully, etc.

Again, I understand your point and I welcome promoting discussion but forcing people to reply to justify their reasoning isn't the way.

u can't just disagree with a massive topic, You need to say what's wrong. No one knows what you're disagreeing with if you just downvote, unless its a small specific topic, then that would apply to both votes

Why can't posters accept that others may disagree with their opinion? A downvote is just a much of voice as an upvote as or a long winded rebuttal. I don't have time or the energy to sit here and argue schematics with a bunch of people who demonstrate consistently they think they know everything.

Consistently repeating false claims over and over again doesn't magically make them facts.

Then tell them that. If you're just downvoting, how are they gonna know what you think? Also if you're going to keep doing that, forums is not the place for you.

I understand. I personally am not against the anonymity being removed - I wouldn't mind seeing who is disagreeing and agreeing. But no one should ever feel like replying is mandatory.

A small chunk of people may be malicious with it but I think you may also just be reading into something a bit too much. Sometimes, people just want to be able to move on quickly but make their opinion known through the vote system.

I didn't say learn to not care what people say. I said learn to not care too much about it (referring to downvotes and upvotes system). If you are in a good faith discussion/debate and both parties are open to changing their minds about things, then of course absolutely listen to what they have to say.

Moving on quickly from a massive topic doesn't help or provide Feedback. Honestly, when creating a Post you should just have the option to allow downvoting. I want Feedback to my massive posts, not a single button press from someone who didn't even read the post and then they just move on.

  • @Volcz said:

I don't think anyone should be forced or policed into having to reply to you in any thread in order to justify their downvote or upvote of your post. They don't have to answer to you. When you post, you are acknowledging you are throwing your opinion out there in a public space & people will likely find something to disagree with you about.

Best advice is learn to not care too much about it. Say what you want to say but don't expect anything from anyone, no one owes you a reply or an explanation.

Then those people shouldn't be on here, as that defeats the purpose of a Forum, to discuss. They don't have to reply, they can continue to spam votes, but the thing is, if they keep doing that without comments to follow, it looks like they have biases or vendettas against certain users, and thats when people who are doing that should be known and disregarded.

Learning to not care what others say about your opinions is actually bad for your conversing skills. If you refuse to accept another person's side of an argument, just continuing to say their wrong or just not acknowledging them, you're reinforcing your own bias since someone opposes your opinion. You should want Feedback, not a downvote that tells you nothing.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I'm not fussed by downvotes tbh. They don't mean anything to me. Having said that, more engagement on here is preferable and i hate the thought that some folks might be too scared to contribute because of downvotes. As someone who downvotes on occasion (but upvotes far more!), I can assure you there is no bullying intent behind it. I see it simply as upvote = agree, downvote = disagree. And on the topic of major biases, I will say that most folks I see with alot of downvotes do tend to hold a pretty strong bias to either survivor or killer. I feel most players here play both roles so strongly one-sided takes will never be popular.

Its hard to determine what you disagree about in a massive post like the Anti Slug and Anti Tunnel dev note for example. Like what part of the expected PTB changes do you dislike? You need to tell BHVR that, you can't just downvote the post and expect them to know whats wrong.

  • @Blueberry said:

Without downvotes, upvotes are meaningless. The context of seeing both is what gives value to upvotes.

A lot of your points against downvotes are around the presumption of "bias" which you cannot actually know. Like just because someone upvotes a lot of posts that want survivor buffs does that make them now survivor bias? No, it does not, it could be just that they literally just logically think survivors need more help at the moment. "Bias" entails an "unfair" preference, of which you cannot know.

By your use of "bias" essentially anyone that's not a fence sitter on every single topic is now "bias" is whichever direction.

Also, downvotes allow people to express their opinion without engaging. If I hypothetically disagree with a topic but I can see most people posting are irrational, should I be forced to have a conversation with irrational people to express my opinion? I don't think so. Trying to rationalize with someone that's irrational sounds painful.

I would say that comes down to being informed on how the game actually works, which isn't the greatest mindset, since naturally low hour players won't understand that survivor is actually better than killer and has been since the game released. Specific killers are problematic, but for the most part all non top 5 killers should be getting outed on paper. The stats are overinflated since Abandoning doesn't count a match towards personal and collective stats. Killer isn't actually better, its just that there are far more survivor players that are inexperienced compared to competent and decent survivors, leading to MMR and killer struggling alot with chases, plus the already ridiculous gen speeds possible. When a new player starts, killer is more easy to play then survivor, most new players will be scared to do anything, leaving you to just find them and kill them with no gens being done.

I should've said it before, but you should also be able to see what posts a user has downvoted or upvoted on their profile, that way you can quickly scan them for lack of worded thoughts and bias, and disregard them for misusing the forums.

Expressing your opinion without engaging is fine if the topic is super broad like "Revert the Pallet Density Update" or something, since its kindof a yes or no sorta post, theres really only 2 stances you can have, so a quick response through voting is warranted and justified. When it's a massive post talking about adding Anti Slug and Anti Tunnel, created by the devs, and people are out here downvoting these massive topics without actually saying what they think is wrong is exactly my problem. Downvoting without explaining doesn't help the OP, and if you keep doing this, you should be disregarded and ignored, since you are just refusing to participate in the Forum at that point.

As someone who only within the last month became more involved in the forum vs only reading, I am often so confused by the mentality here. My very first comment on a post was one advocating for kind discourse vs the belittlement someone was actively doing and it got VASTLY downvoted. I just don't understand the hate just for hates sake…

I think you have good suggestions especially the making the votes able to be viewed. Not sure it would solve the underlying issue, but as you said, at least we'd know who was doing it.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4018259#Comment_4018259

I honestly love this idea and think it would bring some fun into the mix.

I would add and say the posts they have downvoted and upvoted should be on their profile for others to quickly scan them for bias or hate against another user. Would save time for those who actually care to give their opinion and thoughts.

  • @Shinkiro said:

People abuse both downvotes and upvotes. But you either have both or neither, because only having upvotes gives the wrong imnpression when people mindlessly upvote no matter how wrong or stupid the comment is just because they agree with it (and vice versa for downvotes voting against anything they disagree with even if its right).

Frankly if you dont care to actually post then you shouldnt have any influence on the discussion.

I'm fine with both coexisting, but they shouldn't be anonymous, and for that exact reason. People who don't care to speak their mind in alot of posts should be disregarded as not contributing to a Post, mass downvoting killer buffs and upvoting posts about Survivor buffs type of people. Those are people who are usually uninformed, and thus I'd like people to just disregard them when they happen to leave their mark on a post without actually saying anything. People might actually begin giving feedback, where as if you keep getting bullied by a specific user(s), you know its just them and to ignore what they have to say.

It's a little brutal for posts to just get straight up ratio'd by downvotes when they're just sharing their opinion, often in inoffensive ways too. I kind of share the same sentiment that anonymous downvotes and upvotes doesn't promote a very healthy forum culture. It pretty much means if you're gonna go out fo your way to post, you either have to not care about downvotes at all and sort of not care what people think which isn't a great mindset for discussion, or just post things you already know people will agree with. I'd imagine it's not very encouraging for people that would like to share how they feel to see that people find their opinions bad or wrong without even getting any feedback on what exactly they said that was bad or wrong.

If downvotes should be completely removed or not, I don't know. I will say it's interesting to see what kind of posts are put down even if you can't see who is voting down, so it's a way to engage with posts without needing to go out of your way to write something, which I don't think is inherently a bad thing.

Making votes public would force people to take accountability and ownership of their votes, not just throw them out when someone is saying something they don't like without engaging with them at all. This is actually standard in a lot of other forums. It would make votes go from feeling like an anonymous mass of people judging your post to feeling like you're actually getting engagement from real forum members, which is a pretty big difference. It'd also shine a light on people that downvote lots of posts without ever adding to the discussion like you say.

I wanna use this post as an example rq. So this post I made around when Krasue released, and I just wanted to share my experience of never being able to find her. Why is that getting downvoted? What is there to downvote in that post? Its a brief statement talking about me never playing against the new killer. There isn't a single opinion in that post, its just a factual statement from me who's played like 20 hours that week and only seen a Krasue twice. And I know different people can have different experiences, but Downvoting facts is just stupid, I'd really like to see who votes on these types of posts, cus they definitely should be disregarded. Downvoting that was definitely done by people who have a vendetta against me.

I am known for posting very big, somewhat controversial change suggestions, mainly cus I'm a comp player and I am pretty informed on the game's mechanics as I've been playing for 11K+ hours over the past 6 years. Now obviously I can't prove that without sharing another social like Discord, but its true, someone like me actually cares about the game and not just playing it. Also I'm a Game Design student in post secondary who actually wants to work on DBD in a few years, so I do have some elite ball knowledge in the subject.

    @CompetitifDBD said:

Maybe you guys have a different experience, but I haven't seen this killer since day 2 of her release. Did the community just collectively agree she was too broken and don't want to play her anymore?

Thats the goal. A Forum is meant to be a place to discuss whatever Topic is brought up, and quickly disagreeing with a Post defeats that principle. You're not giving anyone any feedback by just downvoting and moving on, you need to explain your thinking. (not to sound like a school assignement or something but thats just common sense and human morality) If I saw people who had little to no comments on their account and a bunch of downvotes, I'd know to just disregard that person since they're not actually participating in a Post. They're making their own Opinion unclear, unheard or just irrelevant by not actually saying something.

Take the devs with the Anti Slug and Anti Tunnel PTB Dev Note. People would massively downvote a huge post without actually telling BHVR what was wrong with those systems. That doesn't help them, that doesn't help us players in getting them to fix it faster for in game. It causes a chain reaction of negative events, all because people aren't giving feedback. Downvoting such a specific and long Topic does not help anyone, its pointless and its literally just used as a tool to make a users opinion seem wrong or worthless. That is not what a Forum is for.

  • @KingOfDoom55 said:

Please give feedback, specifically if your someone who down votes, it helps people understand perspectives of others better to make more universally agreed upon changes

    Rite of judgment:

increase base movement when first using rites from 3.68 to 4.0m

Increase normal rite speed from 4.2 to 4.3m

    Punishment of the damned:

Increase its base travel speed by 6-8%

    Increase its width slightly

    Addon:

Forgotten videotape: increases punishment of the damned travel speed by 6% (was 10%)

    Reasons for this:

While the addon pass was a great change to fresh up the killer, it's main problem is still an issue, that being the speed of its first and normal power use and M2 is that the executioner is still slow and with the recent addon pass, it got even slower according to the changes, which makes the killer even more sluggish to use for chasing, even though it's primary play is for zoning/area control, having increased speed would make this killer better but not too op, so it can keep at least some level of chase when managing trails or vise versa, because as of right now, it's either

A: zone/map controlling killer with little to no chase pressure

    Or

B: full chase with little to no map control (due to focus on getting hits and downs with m1's & 2's)

This would make pyramid head a bit of both without making it too much back into what it was before, but while still making it a mainly map control killer with some slight adjustments to it's chase potential but without it being too strong or unbalanced/unfair

PH doesn't need buffs, infact, his ranged attack shouldn't be as spammable. This is the only part of his kit majority of survivors dispise, because he can just zone you at a loop and eventually hit you with power. Its super boring and unfair.

The should do what they did with Krasue's headlong flight and make it require a minamum amount of rites of judgement, or just give it a flat cooldown of 5 seconds or something.

This PlayStation game has become unplayable: there are players who are way too strong, pallets in every corner of the map, and tons of cheaters. You also often run into PC players using macros to get a wider field of view. Skill-Based Matchmaking is awful for players like me who don’t play very often. When I play once in a while, out of 10 matches I lose 8 and only win 2. To sum it up, when I have a great match where I destroy everyone, the next 8 games are always against insanely strong players. I just want to have fun.

What do any of those points have to do with SBMM?

  • @DxveWolf said:

Since both Kaneki and Krasue got a scamper mechanic, can the Chuck get his manual scamper back, please?? just give bump up his manual scamper under pallet time slightly, like an extra 0.01 secs, so his scamper is on par with kaneki's and krasue's, since to be fair, he got it first and he is also more good looking, please, also can he get an 8.5 m/s dash speed, the good guy must always win

Chucky's scamper was pretty fair when it was there. Never understood why they took that away. Kaneki's is too powerful and Krasue's is useless with the nerfs made during week 2 of her release.

  • @Swampfox said:

Have you thought about it? because of every update that hurts the Killer side of things especially weak Killers this encourages them to use stronger killers or do unsportsman like things like slugging or tunneling in response

Pallet density and Generator repair speeds are part of this problem. skill or not. if it is based on skill how come more powerful Killers have became more popular/adopted recently the ones that depending on how you look at them, take more or less skill such as Wesker or nurse because of their high mobility?

Even I started to use them more often because I am not trying to slug as Billy sure Billy can destroy pallets instantly with this chainsaw but he still has to rev up the Chainsaw for longer than it would take to just break the pallet.

it does not help when the Survivor can just constantly pre-drop pallets and move on to the next pallet just 10 feet away doing this for the entire maps length as three generators can pop in the first minute of the game because of gen rush perks and tool boxes

I guarantee there's at least one peron, running weaving spiders in a third of every game anyone plays and on top of this.

the new survivor has not only a generator perk that can be paired with other generator perks and items to constantly get great skill checks that can complete the generator in half the time by Yourself.

But a perk that encourages you to be stealthy and not even take up chases but also lets you escape from chases extremely easy because you leave barely any trace or tracks to follow or go off of after the Survivor runs away faster than majority of killers to somewhere out of Sight, but can also be paired with perks that do the same thing without any requirement

I could literally run a circle inside of the shack and have my scratch marks disappear before I can Circle back to them because they disappear just around 3 seconds or less thats about the same amount of time it takes for a killer to damage a generator in

I have experienced it multiple times with springtrap. I could be hiding behind a hay bale or object and he hits me right through it. Dont say it doesn't happen because I've experienced it. Weakest killer? I disagree. He outclasses huntress. His kill rate would be through the roof if players didnt always dc against him which makes matches not count.

Are you sure he didn't just throw the axe up? He is the only ranged killer who can do short ranged orbitals over props. He is definitely not better than Huntress, for the above statement "short-ranged." He can't cause harm to survivors from afar like huntress can, his Axe travels slower than hers does when it's charged fully, and he's slower until he loses the axe, which just makes him a regular M1 killer. They each do better in certain situations, but fir the most part, Huntress is widely considered a low A tier, while Springtrap is a low B tier

  • @Colt45m said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4017465#Comment_4017465

The problem with ranged killers is the hitboxes are always bad. Look at huntress. Able to hit you behind a pallet while ducking. Deathslinger who has a bug where survivors cant even see him aim. Springtrap who is able to run full speed while having an extremely fast throw better than huntress. Also his axe goes through objects and still hits you. Like the hay bales on coldwind farm. All valid examples.

That sounds like a ping issue, and that hasn't been a problem since peer to peer connections were a thing, and that was 6 years ago. Right now, projectiles actually sometimes do nothing even when they hit survivors.

From what I'm seeing is you don't like playing pallets against ranged killers because they'll just pull up when you drop, and the awnser to that on most loops with LOS blockers is to predrop. They're all too slow to play a pallet of that size, so they'll waste time breaking.

Well its a bug, its not intentional. Plus the devs are well aware of it's existence, since they stated in a past patchnote that they fixed it.

Springtrap's gimmick is he's faster while readying his projectile, otherwise hes a really weak, short ranged killer, which he is anyway. He's pretty much the weakest ranged killer other than Trickster. His Axe does not go through objects, only Artist can do that.

  • @Zuiphrode said:

Why do people keep making these "throw the trap" suggestions? Cut it out. Stop trying to make Trapper a projectile killer.

Whos everyone? Idk a single person whos even proposed a detailed Trapper Rework on these forums. And theres nothing wrong with Trapper throwing his traps to place them. What, do you want the Entity to do it for him? Do you want to keep spending ages building a trap web by manually placing traps? Things, need to change. Trapper shouldn't be the weakest killer, just for the sake of being simple and easy to understand, thats what a tutorial is for, which atm the game is lacking individual killer tutorials. Hes the Poster boy, he should stand out as a powerful, horror icon in the game industry.

And similar to what @Colt45m is complaining about, theres nothing wrong with ranged killers, especially if their power uses more unique mechanics and hazards rather than just waiting for the killer to pull up their hatchet, or blade or axe etc... This power would require observance, just as current Trapper already does. Plus the "range" is really short, its not like you can orbital someone with a bear trap, although that'd be pretty funny.

  • @Philscooper said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/459021/trapper-rework-detailed-power-concept-and-buffs-add-on-changes-coming-soon

you really dont need all of this.

i have an idea to essentially give him all the traps and be able to just instantly prop up a trap by throwing them with a visible icon where you can throw em onto the ground. (obviously down, not up)

which is way easier to do. then…all of this.

theres two problems. it would overshadow other trap classes like freddy or hag
and they refuse to change the og killers to keep them simple or due to stats, even if their design is completely horrid,

So, essentially all he gets is faster setup and thats it? He's gonna need alot more than just throwing the traps to place them, its still a very useless power against decent players.

Tbh, that simple and easy to understand aspect of killers like Legion, Wraith and Legion should be dropped and instead the devs should make actual Tutorials on how to play as and against these killers.

Thats a discussion for another time, but the idea of simplifying killers to the point their powers suck is just not good, especially for the game's poster boy. Trapper needs to stand out more as a horror icon in the game industry, and making him stronger and a little less basic (like the dudes whole gimmick is placing beartraps, give him something) is the way to do it.

I really love the effort you put into this! It's a cool concept, and I think it could use some tweaks, but I would love to play trapper if this were the case.

I think the tossing traps is a good idea, but I think that clamping should only be allowed on retrieval. Maybe, when tossing a trap, if it hits a survivor they just scream and receive a heavy hindered penalty (deflecting the trap) and then placing the trap behind them where it lands. This way, maybe there could be some dynamic of avoiding hitting survivors, creating a skill expression in tossing the trap OVER survivors, ahead of them, creating a hazard directly in front of them and also not making trapper a directly ranged killer. I think part of the iconic factor of trapper is that he isn't ranged. I do love the idea of tossing traps though, big time saver. I think that retrieval can still apply clamped though, that's a good idea.

I'm excited to see what you come up with for add-ons!

Throwing at an already clamped Survivor wouldn't do anything, at least I didn't plan for it to. I didn't want him becoming a basic short ranged killer. I guess my intended form of skill expression was supposed to be retrieval plays

How on earth is this considered "fixing Dredge's weapon issues"? Can you for reals just move the majority of the weapons AND the arms, so they are off screen? Does anyone actually think it's "immersive" to block about 50% of the important parts of the screen?

Remember that 99% of the important stuff is happening around ground level. And these weapons are covering up around 50% of that area. You can't just say "most of the sky isn't obstructed, so it's fixed", when 99% of the time I don't care about the visibility of the sky area unless it's a multi-floor building or multi-floor map, AND the survivor is in line of sight AND on a floor above.

Tbf, this is not the skin they said they fixed. They fixed the Ghost skin, since that one actually took up half your screen

What you're trying to say in this first question is very unclear. You're wondering why they make skins and new survivors? And you find it weird that just anyone can end up in the fog?

One of the main monetization methods is through creating new characters and IP collection for the Museum of Horror. Making new survivors introduces new perks and playstyles. Skins serve a purpose of keeping all characters relevant and played equally, while also generating income. For example, Michonne, a survivor that is almost never played, despite her being one of the three newest survivors, will likely recieve some attention and use when her upcoming Legendary skin releases in a week.

Now the reason they don't just make every Legendary their own character wirh perks and powers in the fog, like Lisa Garland or Daryl Dixon or even the Murderous Grizzly, is simply cus that would take way too much work and time. The devs average about 4-5 chapters per year, and lately these chapters have been rather lackluster in terms of expectations not being met. Most people want each chapter to have a survivor and a killer, and at least once or twice a year a new map, these past 2 years, half of the chapters we've gotten have been half chapters. (only a single character was added or only one faction recieved content) This is one of the reasons FNAF and TWD didn't do too well for the game generating income and continued/consistent playerbase, paired with the awful state of the game when these chapters released and you've got a million reasons why not to play DBD atm.

Classes are a system specific to 2V8. The main game should stay with their perk system, it allows for more customization tailored to how you play.

Do you like his current power more, or was the old one better?

Is he too weak? Is he too strong? Is he interactive?

Do you like his new add-ons?

Does he need buffs? Nerfs? Changes?

    What do you think?

My personal opinion is that he is not higher than a B tier killer, and some buffs should definitely happen, especially in areas which were nerfed from his original form.

His new add-ons are pretty eh for the most part. There are 2-3 that should have been basekit, some absolutely awful ones (looking at you, Jewelry Box), some that are neat, and some really good ones (Hairbrush, Tombstone Piece, Blond Hair)

If I could do anything about his design, I would give him a few buffs, and further expand his old power by designating more than just one add-on to it, which could give us a neat dual power situation.

    Details here:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/457422/a-middle-ground-for-micheal-myers-power-change-idea

Hes definitely a balanced killer now, though in some situations getting zoned by a Slaughtering Strike pallet break could be your downfall pretty quickly thanks to the pretty much nothing cooldown.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

I've been watching Stalky boi and Scott Jund playing him for the last couple of hours. He seems so much better now. The strike looks smoother, faster, and more efficient to get downs.

Scott's had a drastic change of opinion. He was a big critic of the rework before because of the unnecessary nerfs that came with it, now he's rating Mikey B tier.

Others have been saying hes a low to mid A tier, and I kinda agree. He got some major and massive number buffs, a killer has never been improved so much before in a Bugfix patch.

Hes a monster at zoning, thanks to the break recovery speed and cooldown reduction of Slaughtering Strike. He is back to being a relatively stealthy killer, while also having his basekit speeds buffed even more in Evil Incarnate mode. His power duration is back to a minute, and this has helped alot for using some of that time hooking a survivor and finding a new one to chase with power still. Pair all this with the basekit tombstone and faster stalking, and we've definitely got a way better Myers now, far better than what we had 2 months ago.

Doubtful. I'm pretty sure they present the assets and power for the character and they get approved. Any changes to the appearance and functionality of the character need to be approved. They're not hassling the licence holder whenever they need to rebalance them by altering power numbers or add-ons. Only big things like a complete power rework or changing the character's appearance would need to be approved. Otherwise it'd be an insane amount of red tape for every single change.

Well its either that, or the devs are terrible at recognizing a killer's strength and whether they need buffs or nerfs ASAP, which for some killers they are, but its especially noticeable for new releases

the Blight serum mutates everyone and sure messes you up just look at what it does to the other killers it gives Pig two heads. If the serum was tested on Shape would it be a drastic change or would it would just be Michael Myers covered in yellow goop?

I imagine his clothes tear, he becomes shirtless, bulges of pustula appear all over his body, protruding from his melting and fusing mask to his skin. His Evil and the Blight's Serum would turn him into the true Evil Incarnate, a monster of a man, senseless and unreactive to pain or emotion (give custom sounds when hes stunned or would usually grunt + His breathing would sound like bubbling blight serum)

I’m sure this has been asked a thousand times on here before, but this is my first post and I thought it could be a nice way to learn a little more about some of you guys.

My main is Vittorio and I’m going to tell you why. There is this little hidden gem of a show called The Outpost that ran for 4 seasons and I just love it so much. It truly is a comfort watch of mine and I often find myself rewatching it as I miss the characters and setting. The show is a fantasy / adventure show that follows a character named Talon, the sole surviving member of the Blackblood race, who journeys to a fortress to track her family's killers. Soon, she attains supernatural powers that she has to learn to control. In the show Talon has a ‘creature’ living inside of her called a Kinj and you find out that her particular one is called an Asterkinj which has the ability to open portals to other worlds and planes of existence.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5M1H3II2NOXW/img-0402.gif

When she uses the Asterkinj to open portals it glows blue on the side of her head and it really reminds me of Vittorio’s arcane cosmic ink tattoos. It’s almost the exact same shade of blue and his typical style of clothing is also extremely similar to the wardrobe used in The Outpost. It’s like he was made exactly for me as I just feel like I’m getting to play as a character from my favourite show whenever I’m playing as him. So I’ll be a Vittorio main for as long as I play this game and I’m slowly but surely heading towards P100 with him.

Houndmaster and Ada Wong. Houndmaster cus I love Dogs and how balanced and fair her power is. (unfortunately really buggy though) Ada because shes a badass in the RE series and I love asians.

I surprisingly and thankfully haven’t experienced this a lot in solo queue, but I had a match on Gideon Meat Plant where a Ghoul player would slug people in The Void if they caught them in there, which meant we had to keep going in to pick them up. For some reason the portals were really hard to locate, possibly due to the fact it’s a two story map and it felt like I was the only one actively trying to open more of them around the map so it was such a time waster having to keep going across the map to pick people up. I know the ‘counter’ to this play style is to stay out of The Void all together but that’s easier said than done when you’re playing with randoms and it’s also a main part of the event / linked with challenges.

Do you think this is a fair and viable strategy or should survivors be automatically ejected from The Void after being slugged for a certain amount of time?

Annoying, but also kinda the survivor's fault for going in there in the first place

  • @jasonq500 said:

Will say, Myers breaking pallets with slaughtering strike has become worthless now from what I'm seeing

Literally why use that feature where you feel slowed down and you can just kick it normally which is so much faster especially if you're using brutal strength

I also argue that two of his addon that were once in his kit be brought back (boyfriends memo and flowers memorial)

Like there's no reason that it should have been removed from his kit and become an addon

Literally from what I'm seeing, I feel like this whole rework was not thought out thoroughly because of the changes he had initially

Actually, its better to use Slaughtering strike to break pallets. You're barely slowed when breaking with the lunge and you have a 4 second wait to get power back, which is nothing at all.

I'm sure they cannot revisit him any longer since he is not officially in the game rn.

You're right, the window to change Cenobite is gone now. For the same reason stated with Demo, the license holders need to give their okay when their character gets changed. We can't do that now that Pinhead is technically not apart of the game anymore, we'll have to wait and see if he comes back for him ti get any changes.

Didn't Demo get balance changes despite being in the same state?

He got changed just before his departure, and when he came back he got some minor tweaks. All changes to a license holder's character needs to be ran by them by BHVR, even if it is a miniscule number change. Myers getting buffed only today is probably because they needed to get the okay from the license holders to change him again.

    Hey everyone,

I’m genuinely curious about how both Killer and Survivor mains define tunneling and slugging, as I’ve seen a wide range of interpretations across the community. I'm hoping to better understand where the line is drawn from both perspectives, and maybe figure out where the real disconnect lies.

    Tunneling:

From what I understand, tunneling typically refers to a Killer focusing on a single Survivor—often the one just unhooked—while ignoring other Survivors and overall map pressure.

As someone who plays Killer occasionally, I try to rotate targets and spread pressure as fairly as I can. That said, if I happen to run into the same Survivor shortly after they've been unhooked and they’re in a vulnerable spot, I’ll usually take the down. In those cases, it’s not intentional—it just makes sense in the moment. But does that still count as tunneling if it’s coincidental?

Personally, I believe tunneling also extends to camping a hook and immediately chasing the rescued Survivor—especially when the Killer has a clear opportunity to go after others but chooses not to. To me, that's where it crosses the line into what feels like unfair gameplay.

Also, for Killers whose powers revolve around chase potential, isn't it natural to stick with a target who's looping well? Is that considered tunneling, or just leaning into the Killer’s core strength?

    Questions for Survivors:

    • Where do you personally draw the line between standard play and tunneling?

    Questions for Killers:

    • Do you tunnel strictly to secure an elimination, or are there other factors—such as targeting a strong looper, specific perks, or simply personal preference?

    Slugging:

To me, slugging means leaving a Survivor in the dying state in order to pressure others or control the game. I understand slugging as a situational strategy, but opinions seem divided on when it's "acceptable."

    Questions for Survivors:

    • Do you consider it slugging if the Killer leaves you temporarily to break a pallet, regress a gen, or chase someone nearby?

    Questions for Killers:

    • Why do you choose to slug instead of hooking? Is it to snowball, apply pressure, or are there other strategic reasons?
    • In your view, when is slugging justified—and when does it cross into poor sportsmanship?

    Final Thoughts:

Over the years, I’ve noticed that Dead by Daylight has become increasingly competitive, with many players defining a win strictly as either escaping or killing all four Survivors. But personally, I think there's more to the game than just the final screen.

Mechanics like tunneling and slugging often stir up frustration—not just because of how they affect the outcome, but because of how they impact the flow and enjoyment of the match. When used intentionally, they can create a one-sided experience that removes opportunities for counterplay, especially for newer or solo queue Survivors. At the same time, I understand that these tactics can also serve strategic purposes for Killers, especially in high-stakes or high-rank matches where map pressure is key.

Still, I feel the true measure of a "win" goes beyond escaping or killing. The post-game screen shows detailed stats—how well you supported your team, how many gens you completed, how long you held your chases. I personally see a successful match in the bloodpoints earned, the iridescent emblems achieved, and how effectively I played my role, even if I don’t make it out alive.

I completely understand the desire to win. But what I don’t understand is giving up entirely—disconnecting, throwing, or not trying—just because escaping seems unlikely. Yes, the game has its balance issues (and there’s always room for improvement), but when you focus on playing smart, helping your team, and adapting to the situation—even in the face of tunneling or slugging—the game becomes a lot more fun, win or lose.

Would love to hear your honest thoughts from both sides of the player base. What’s your personal philosophy around tunneling and slugging, and what do you consider fair vs. unfair play?

    Thanks for reading!

I would consider tunneling as unnecessarily forcing a survivor out of the game, even though you don't need the extra pressure to win, or essentially warranting tunneling only when theres only 2 gens or less left and forcing someone out is kinda your only shot at still 4king.

I draw the line when tunneling before at least 2 gens are done. At this point of a match, you not having split hooks and some pressure is your own fault, but you can still recover not playing scummy. Tunneling when its not necessary to win is just annoying and boring for both sides.

As a killer, its the exact same, tunnel only when you need to. I typically don't target specific players based on their hours, (forcing weaklink to die) kinda just the first person whos death hook. Survivors can do alot to prolong and stop tunneling through perks and strategies, like dying under pallets and having one guy follow the tunnelee with hit takes and downs while the other two crank.

Short term slugging such as doing a break action isn't really slugging. Slugging I consider to be when you intentionally leave all 4 survivors on the ground (specifically all 4) to catch the last one standing. Thats what I refer to as extreme slugging, and though if survivors misplay themselves into that situation, its very hard to get out of if you don't have any anti Slug perks.

Snowballing mainly and misplaying on the surv side to try and get a rescue or a do a high progress gen. Mainly just when a survivor sells, naturally the killer will exploit that.

Slugging isn't warranted when you're completely ignoring hooking survivors and looking for all the others, intentionally trying to have them all downed before finally sacrificing them. Though I only consider it extreme and unwarranted when all 4 are alive, otherwise slugging seems rather strategic if 3 or less survivors remain.

I do consider it a bug, because last year the event dowsing rod was common, last year, the halloween items were common, in fact, the halloween related addons are still common:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Y7RZ3M7EQ0H1/image.png

Since those have kept their common rarity, and the offerings+items are the only things that changed their rarity, I consider it a bug.

Every single other event item or offering is still listed as common. Its literally just the Arcane Dowsing Rod, the All Hallow's Eve Lunchbox and the Will O' Wisp that have changed their rarity from common to rare/very rare.

Event offerings are consistent, Dowsing Rod is the inconsistent one

I get that, but its not a bug. The devs did it intentionally for some reason. Whether they thought the items shouldn't be cheaper even though they're time limited or they think they should be the same price as their normal counterparts

Im close to getting my Bill to p100 and i wanna know if when the prestige rewards update comes out in Feb will they be something cool or something meh.

Well we already know that each character will have a badge and banner exclusive to your progression on them.

Hopefully if they can work things out with license holders, we can get a special skin or optional Entity Touched effect to all characters, not Legacy, not Blighted or Void, but a skin that makes the character look like the default and have special miniature auric cell effects swirling near, trying to escape and expel the energy, some penetrate your character's skin, props and clothing, giving you the default skin, but modified to be weathered and essentially the character's strongest form in the Entity's eyes.

Custom portraits would be cool too. They could switch the Character's name in the post match scoreboard to a portrait of the character, which then you hover over to see their name and what not, but more importantly, your custom portrait is visible publicly and not just in your lobby, like with the bloody prestige portrait effect, which should also work in the post match screen.

  • @BorisDDAA said:

If you're talking about the event, yes it's giga killer sided it's not even funny.

No its not. The game mode is pretty much no different to the normal mode. Neither sides participate because they know the abilities are pretty mid and useless.

Going into the void is killer sided, but no survivor goes in anyway, so if the killer is wasting time participating in the event, they're actively sabotaging themselves. The game is also survivor sided as its always been, so essentially nothing changes and the game is still survivor sided in the gamemode.

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: I have several survivors that are purported to have voice lines, but I've never heard them. Alan Wake, Leon Kennedy, Renato and Thalita Lyra - NO voice lines (i.e., spoken phrases or sentences) that I have EVER heard on my PC either in Trials or in the lobby, but they all still make normal survivor noises (grunts, cries, screams, etc.).

I genuinely thought it was a very rare occurrence and I was just missing it until my partner began telling me what Chris Redfield said in lobby almost every match we played.

    PLATFORM: PC

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED: Hit play button on Steam, play SWF as survivors who are supposed to have voice lines.

The Lyra twins only speak when both survivors are present in the lobby, they don't talk in game. Neither does Leon, he speaks only in the lobby too. Alan on the other hand talks both in the lobby and in game, during the same situations as Nicolas Cage, like getting chased initially or getting hooked.

So, no idea what the idea and state of his rework is in the background, so this will take some assumptions:
    1. Main event stays as is
    2. his M2 effectively remains the same

I actually think it would be interesting if Trickster, as 110% killer, would gain 1% haste for each consecutive hit he gets with his blades on survivors. Lingering for 5 seconds, that lingering being 10 seconds if his blades take a healthstate, or loses it when he m1's or misses an m2.

That way, a trickster could reach up to 64% haste if he manages to hit all survivors in quick succession, but generally speaking, he would be able to be effectively a 115% killer once he has used his blades to injure a survivor.

They've said hes pretty much going back to the way he was when he released, with most of the QOL changes They've made to him sticking around like the recoil removal
