  • The hag is short and has a small terror radius, which can be made extremely small through Monitor and Abuse. Using line of sight blockers you can get very close to survivors for a first or even second hit without much of a chase at all. This couples extremely well with Nurses Calling letting you drop a chase and simply find them healing after.

Ruin is a typical must have but don't put too much effort into protecting it. People say hag can protect her totems well but she can't, not to a worthwhile extent. If it's in an easily defendable spot then sure, but in most cases it's not worth the setup time.

For basic gameplay you want to focus on using your traps for shutting down loops. Putting them near pallets and vaults are a given but around corners and in long hallways (between house and fence on Haddonfield for example), or under high drops (below upstairs windows, under holes in The Game, etc) are also strong places to put traps. You can't chase effectively so you need to use traps aggressively.

While being looped it's useful to place a trap next to a pallet, then go around the long way to force the survivor through the pallet. They'll often turn back around after setting off the trap, and drop the pallet between themselves and the phantasm. If you don't teleport, that's a free hit. Smart survivors will leave the loop entirely but that's still useful as youve denied a loop and left it trapped for later.

Hag excels at area control so start learning the map and find a good area to defend instead of trying to exert pressure across the entire map.

Finally, it might seem good to slap a lot of traps down in a small area but don't go overboard, often times in that case if they set off one they'll set off all of them.

@ClogWench most PS4 players have quick killer lobbies

Can't relate at all. Literally stopped playing for close to a month cause I only ever had a half hour here or there and didn't have time to wait for a lobby for 20 odd minutes each time

I should have specified that the second time they were red rank, they weren't using insta-heals or legacy skins at all. I meant they had also used a Rank 20 teammate to bully low rank players. I guess that's on me. See, the point of this post isn't the story but the problem. Crazy, huh?

That's more believable then. Either way yes, you are right that a rank 20 should under no circumstance be matched against a rank 1

  • It's hidden from survivors until the match is over entirely.

Is it though? This community isn't exactly made up of the paragons of humanity. When MoM was intinally released it was every one after another of everyone using it to bully killers.

There's a broad difference between one perk and whats described here. Once I can understand. Twice before immediately getting rid of the game? That sounds made up to me.

  • Perhaps, but the odds of that very specific thing happening, and it being essentially every scummy tactic combined (ie absolute worst case scenario), and happening twice consecutively with different groups, gonna be honest it sounds unlikely.

Dear boy, I'm not a tryhard man, I play with 2-3 friends for fun on Dbd and we communicate the right. You will understand that if in an hour we can play a one game (if we are lucky) we prefer to abandon the game and dedicate ourselves to something else. The problem you say is a fundamental problem that will never be solved, and if this prevents you from playing swf, at this point they will directly take the option of playing with friends and say you can only play alone, don't you think?

No, I don't. I fully think the devs could buff solo players to have the same information gain as SWF, and then buff killers to accomodate.

See nurse and spirit use their powers and right after the blink is finished or during reappearance timing they follow up with an attack... they're not forced to follow through the loops and M1 like wraith and freddy are.... the perfect example is freddy in his current state or even wraith without addons both have powers that dont benefit them during a chase-----> M1 killer...

But then that's still an arbitrary definition cause it's vague what does and doesn't benefit a killer in a chase. Does that mean Trapper isn't an M1 cause he can turn off a loop? Is Clown then not M1 because his power slows survivors in chases?

Obviously we are talking about two different situations, but this is the situation in Europe. If the game has been unbalanced for swf for years, I don't see how they can fix it in the short term, they probably never will. I repeat that the problem I exposed is different from that of the unbalanced game, even if they are connected to each other. The killers leave the games even if there are 3 friends and no objects.

I understand what you're saying. I'm telling you to deal with it. Playing killer is already infuriating sometimes, they hardly need to make it worse just so SWF have more fun

  • Anyone who knows them keeps them, they just become locked teachables after that and won't appear on bloodwebs until unlocked

  • Gonna need some receipts on this one to believe it honestly.

But are you sure about what you say? but are you an Asian type or are you in America? Because here in Europe he finds them right away, maximum 20 seconds if it takes a lot of time. But I personally when I play killer I agree to play with anyone, even with premade, I also have the screen that I played a swf that had 3 insta heal and 1 Green toolbox, and I did 3 out of 4 just because the last one was it is saved with deliverence. Then I play with my friends is True, but we are not bastards that we put billions of objects and with the same skins. Many times they come out even when we are not full swf, even when we play in 2 or 3 without objects. This is easy for them to do because as much as I said 10 times, they immediately find the games unlike the swf and in general the survivors.

Playing from Canada but 10 minutes of browsing the forum is enough to see how many problems people have with long killer queue times. You're clearly an outlier, but since you're unable to see that yourself then this conversation isn't going anywhere.

I exposed my idea, for me the killers come out of the lobby not only because they swf, but because they find the matches immediately, instantly or not. This problem will always exist but the situation that has arisen is terrible, you can't wait 4 minutes in the lobby to be immediately expelled because swf, and having to wait 4 minutes again, and then 4 minutes again. while the killer finds them much more quickly and does not create problems.

You say this but typically killers wait 10-15 minutes for a lobby only to get stuck with a 4 man SWF group and then the killer has a miserable time. At the end of the day it's gonna be a bad time for someone anyway. Only fix is to close the balance gap between all 3 factions.

  • @Zender said:

@ClogWench it’s not about downing survivors with their power but rather about the strength or perceived strength of the power. Also the ability to use that power efficiently and in more situations either makes them m1 or not.

i.e. Nurse can use her power anytime to counter most survivor escape tactics without much drawback, it also gives great mobility. Same for spirit.

Trapper requires you to get the trap, place it, not step in it yourself (drawback of the power) and then the survivor has to step in it.

same for leatherface, it’s an instant down but you can’t touch other terrain (drawback) and you have to get right on the survivor to use it. Promotes camping of hooks.

    make sense?

Dont get me wrong, I understand what it means, it's just an arbitrary and misleading term that gives false impressions about various killers snd is wholly unnecessary

  • @LordGlint said:

@ClogWench The difference would be that those attacks are even recognized by the game as being different. You can just float up to someone as nurse and hit M1, or you can land ontop of them with a blink and hit them, which would reward more points. The 2 hits are abit different, even if they both involve M1.

So then Wraith, Freddy and Clown aren't M1 either by that logic

Guys I don't know if you're lying, but anyway I'm not doing it either. To me personally when I play killer at night, I find the matches instantly, about 10 seconds of waiting, while when I play as a survivor I have to spend so much time to find a game. I am in Europe, more precisely in Italy. However I've already written it, regardless of the reasons, if the survivors can't play swf, everyone will abandon the game forever. In my opinion you are killer men, and you have probably never put yourself in the shoes of survivors, you are probably the first to leave the lobbies as soon as you see the swf, and for this reason you will never agree with me.

Dude typically most players play both roles. You're clearly the outlier considering how many people complain about absurd killer queue times. Lobby dodging has been around since SWF started and the game has a strong consistent playerbase on all platforms so that's not about to make everyone abandon it forever.

  • @se05239 said:

A M1 killer (for me) is a killer that cannot down a survivor with their power, essentially. A killer that need to chase a survivor down.

Examples would be Trapper, Freddy and Clown.

Ah, so killers like Nurse and Spirit who also don't directly deal damage with their powers would count too. Which is why I don't understand why M1 is typically synonyms with weak.

  • I went in to this skeptical but honestly yeah I'm into it

  • @Angelino244 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/582662#Comment_582662

True, but at least make the situation balanced, because the killer finds the lobby instantly, while the survivor has to spend time, a lot of time. I tell you one thing, so why during the afternoon, the killers are content to play swf, while the evening doesn't? Simple, because in the afternoon they too take some time to find a game, while the evening they find them immediately, they can go out into the lobbies as often as they wish.

Killer doesn't find a lobby instantly anymore. Often times you're left looking for a game for a while

  • I think Insidious needs to go since there's 0 tactical use outside camping and while I don't think camping should be removed, it certainly shouldn't be encouraged (especially since it only punishes solo survivors too).

  • @Nhamyr said:

Ok so the forum is basically the same bs than ingame atleast mostly. Instead of giving maybe some helpful advice people just try to destroy your comments. Atleast I learned something from that. And they can if they just take a hit and then go and heal. If 4 people do that it gets really really annoying and maybe you are right it may not be a 24/7 permanent but permanent enough to be a reason to dc and that is enough to call it permanent in this case, maybe not per definition but i really dont give a ######### about that

They can't heal that fast dude. I get it, you couldn't figure out how to stop getting blocked, but in the end that's in you. The survivors do not have the ability to body block you in the way you're describing.

  • @Angelino244 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/582653#Comment_582653

or a temporary solution, let the killers find the matches after 3-4 minutes or more, so let's see if they always come out in the lobby. In that case I will let you know that the killer will be content to play even swf, trust me.

It's pretty easy for a killer to tell if they're facing SWF or not. Doesn't need to be evident in the lobby.

  • @Nhamyr said:

I don't really want to quote everything so I do it rather simple.

    1. they didn't only bodyblock me while I had someone on my shoulder.
    2. I will keep playing the game, ofc you win some you lose some but how the F am I supposed to learn something if they just run infinite loops and bodyblock me around the map?
    3. I know there are a lot more toxic people out there and what they did isn't really toxic but those games are just boring as ######### so I'd rather have them gen rush in 5 minutes and leave the game instead of holding me hostage for 25 minutes.

It's impossible to be permanently body blocked as killer. It just can't happen.

  • @Angelino244 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/582642#Comment_582642

I understand and understand your reasoning, but in the end this thing will not bring benefits to people, because sooner or later people will loose themselves and will no longer play losing a large number of players. You are probably right, there is a fundamental problem, but the game cannot induce you to play alone and without friends, also because the survivor experiences a bad experience alone, other than the killer ...

Yeah they need to close the gap between solo and swf, and then buff killers to keep up with SWF coordination

  • @Angelino244 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/582624#Comment_582624

Then you don't understand the concept, the killer leaves the lobby, not the game! not even time to enter the lobby and Quit. Rereading me maybe I explained myself wrongly, THE KILLERS LEAVE FROM THE LOBBY INSTANTLY NOT GIVEN IN COURSE OR DURING THE OFFERS.

He knows exactly what you're talking about. That doesn't make a difference. Facing SWF is a miserable experience and I don't blame others for wanting to avoid it

  • It's kind of an unwritten rule that a killers basic attack remains untouched. It'd make it impossible to get more than 1 down per charge of his power too

I thought they "fixed" basement blocking by shrinking killer collision on those stairs?

Its not bannable because it cannot happen anymore.

The other posts were right, though.

    @George_Soros said:

You can't even do it now: basement stairs were recently made wider, so killer cannot effectively bodyblock now.

But anyway, now, if it cannot be done indefinitely, it's not "holding the game hostage". It would be the case without EGC.

Y'all missed where he said it was in the doorframe, a piece of the map(not a piece of the basement specifically) that DIDN'T get altered to make room.

  • Sucks that you got matched against people you really shouldn't have had to face, but nothing they did was really bad.

  • That's not perma body blocking though. You can simply put the survivor down and go after the others.

  • Nope. They technically has a natural means of ending the game, through death, so it's not a hostage situation. Holding it hostage only counts if it would force a DC

Like, holy #########, how can you even think that the killer is in control of the game?

Sometimes people are so far deluded you just can't try to rationalize with them. It's really not worth the effort.

  • 20190714_151016.jpg

I haven't played killer much since before Junes reset so I'm at like rank 14 now. Tried to tell me he looped me forever after maybe 45 seconds of chasing on Haddonfield. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but hey, as long as he feels like a winner everyone wins

  • Then let them reword it to say there's a few seconds of no progress too. Overall the game can't afford to nerf Ruin without also nerfing overall gen progress

  • Then it wouldn't be worth using. You wanna take away the pause you also gotta take away the Hex status

  • For online co-op I found Monster Hunter World really good. Overall most of the community seemed really chill, it's a pretty expansive game and I had a lot of fun with it.

  • It's refreshing to see a post with so many people in solid agreement about an idea. Hopefully the devs notice it.

Ever since they readjusted the ranking system, many high skill players are actually stuck around rank 12-15 playing only spirits and nurse in rank 1 fashion. Btw naturally this extends up to at least rank 8 not just rank 1 you fluffernutter. So this comment is completely untrue, and the logic is fallacial.

I dont think anyone here appreciates your unhelpful pessimistic views. Online gaming is fun and you should not suggest her to avoid online gaming because she points out very valid truths about dbd, aka bottom of the online gaming totem pole and we all know it. You should keep it to yourself in the future because no ones asking for your advice on whether to play this or not. This forum, after over 3 years of development with almost no progress towards fixing the core issues of their 1 game mode, needs more real player posts like this. And less pathetic suck ups that would rather say good riddance to the player rather than admit this games endless faults. Admit that a multitude of people quit this game regularly and never come back, instead of wearing a mask that the player base has been consistent. Look how many new players there are recently... so why isnt the player base going up? Everyone that plays is new, because once you get enough hours you become fed up with the inconsistency within the game code and you eventually quit. It's a cycle every time they release a new licensed killer, an entire fan base erupts because they enjoy the theme of that killer (I only got this game because I wanted to play as amanda the pig since I love saw movies). Eventually experiencing the lag, switching, tunneling, camping, dcing, broken lobby's, sandbagging teamates, pallets not working, models breaking, teleporting over maps, never getting hit then dying, having question Mark's over your head when the killer swings at a window then you get teleported back into the window, realizing reporting is just an autoban system with no appeals, you watch a Dbd stream and see how little the devs understand their own game, how they conduct themselves with such narcissism. You need to stop living in fairytale land where we think they did a pretty good job so far. Wake up and give the feedback the devs need to hear to fix this mountain of issues. Stop putting sprinkles on it. It's been 3 ######### years and they've made mountains of cash. For a game I love, it's hard to say it but its time to earn your stay dbd team because open your eyes, the game has been dying, and new killer every 3 months isnt enough life support to keep it going.

Good lord dude chill out. Online gaming is fun but if you think this kind of toxicity is limited to DbD you're living under a rock. Every online gaming community is going to have a vocal amount of toxicity. If someone is that bothered by that kind of atmosphere then no, it's likely not healthy to keep oneself exposed to it. You can call that pessimistic if you like but at the end of the day I don't care about your opinion, I'm just making a suggestion to OP.

Obviously the game has some distance to go but it's easy to forget how far it's come in the last year. Dedicated servers are gonna change a lot and after that they're going to have more time and resources to invest in overall game health.

  • If it lets me see on Ormond then you have my vote.

  • I refuse to use them unless I encounter a previously toxic party. I don't think an offering should have that kind of sway on a match.

It's easy to think that. I wish it was not the case, but if you remember the nerf threads - the Legion patch was a 1:1 copy of them.

They have intended or not, exactly do what those guys wanted.

Imo, if exploits fixing would have been the priority for the devs for looking at the Legion, they would have just fix the exploits, without changing the game mechanic of this killer.

As example, they could have simply grey out 1 knife, if a Legion player had already choose the green, or purple one in his addon screen.

The Legion would have been after that still the same, but without that damn knife exploit.

That would have been a change without hurting the killer.

Because of this, and other examples I tend here to believe the Legion haters, that have claim the Legion patch as their victory.

As long as you have the "us vs them" mentality you're not gonna help anything. I'm done trying to convince you otherwise.

  • If toxicity gets her down that much then online gaming is likely not for her. At least online VS games. Co-op ones could be a fun change of pace though.

They have say to us Legion mains, that we should adapt.

Now... We have adapt and they are still not happy *smiles*.

Okay people spamming the forums about Legion didn't get him changed. His ability being abused and exploited in a way that made the game truly miserable for everyone got him changed. If you think it was people that just didn't like him for no reason then you're deeply mistaken.

So should I just give up according to your theory?

Take my 27$ and 100 hours on legion and just leave the game only because the devs took things too far?

I don't care what legion ill get as long as they are fun to play, decently viable and with a power that is actually worth using and enjoy.

At the moment I am not enjoying this legion at all, should I get a legion similar to Gf in terms of fun and strength I would be satisfied

Boy you're good at putting words in other people's mouths. I'm sure Legion will get looked at eventually, but they're not gonna drop everything and fix him up immediately. We'll likely see occasional buffs and tweaks in patches to come though. But people spamming the forums with threads about Legion isn't gonna speed that up

Keep it up folks and see what happens to the game

Well the game has had a relatively consistent number of players over the last year so it's doing okay actually. Plus at the end of the day it's just a game. If you can't help but take it too seriously then it's probably not a healthy thing to continue playing and taking a break or outright quitting is a good idea.
