I wouldn't really care for this chapter, but it seems to me that it'll be Friday The 13th.
I said before that only F13, FNAF and Alien seem big enough to be the event chapter now. Anything else will surely be a massive down grade.
-
There's no need to for people to sit at the exit doors to deliberately be toxic. If you weren't toxic to them, then they shouldn't be toxic. However I can't say that everyone waiting at a door is doing it to be toxic.
Survivors also are played by humans, who may want to progress in the game by doing challenges or getting more bloodpoints. Unfortunately for you sometimes this requires them to wait at the door longer to get hit out. Could be WGLF stacks or protection hit challenge or something else.
-
Sorry to hear this mate. I understand what you were saying about the fear of posting things. I also feel like that when it comes to saying anything on here. I personally feel like the forums have gotten worse as time has went on (probably alongside the community's dissatisfaction with the current game).
I have no idea what posts you've made or what you've been like to others but I hope no matter what you get over your depression mate. Enjoy your time away and good luck ๐
-
I don't feel like they need to get the survivors from the Scream chapter. I don't think the money they'd get from the community is worth the amount they'd need to pay to get the characters.
-
Massive no. I think this idea just makes it too easy to farm stacks with minimal effort.
No Way Out is good because you got to earn your stacks. I think it's in a good position and shouldn't be touched at all.
-
I'm quite surprised to see even 10% people choose stealth. I was pretty certain it would be 97 - 3.
I also choose style, however my Claudette has a stealth cosmetic. This is only because I don't like any of her cosmetics.
-
I personally think the add-on is just too strong for being a purple without any downside. Especially when you couple it with a bunch of Blights other add-ons.
-
I'd say Hag unfortunately. The devs probably think she has decent counters and isn't played a lot so they aren't going to nerf her.
-
I think the gap you mentioned is just the general balance. Any sweaty side vs any chill side will always be unbalanced.
-
It says exactly what people don't want to hear:
- At the highest level, playing as sweaty as possible, the game is balanced.
People hate to hear it but it seems to be true. It seems like the devs have actually got a perfectly balanced game at high ranks. The tournament that took place a month ago was the early signs of it.
The one thing I like about this challenge is that it is teaching people that they can still win a game, even if 2/3 gens pop immediately.
-
Literally just play the game for survivor. It's extremely easy to get to rank 1 tbh. If your not the best at survivor, just keep playing and you'll get to rank 1.
Killer it's tougher. You need a build with some slowdown and a good killer for getting kills. Find a killer you like and get a good build on them. Personally feel like the best general build is:
- Corrupt Intervention
- Deadlock
- No Way Out
- Pop/Scrouge Hook
Certain killers like a different 4th perk I.e Demogorgan likes Save The Best For Last.
Gl mate and hope you get your 2 million ๐
-
I don't play toxic which is why when I get toxic messages I laugh.
I love getting those messages, especially if they're unique. The two I remember most happened within a week of each other.
- Got a bunch f voice messages because I bodyblocked a hook. Very very funny ๐
- Got someone complaining about me "tunnelling" them and that I'm trash and should go back to Minecraft ๐ faced them 3 times in 1 week as killer and got the same messages each time.
-
A few popular dbd streamers cried that Boon: Exponential was going to be OP but shockingly it isn't. It's one of those parts that isn't good by itself, but in a certain build is pretty good.
-
I'd say:
- Gen
- Healing
- Totem
- Chests
- Chase
Think that's all the important ones. I think anything more would just be too much.
-
Ok I'll try and restrain myself on this but..
Hag is a horrible, boring, unfun and badly designed killer imo. I would love to delete her from the game. I want CoH nerfed, but knowing it hurts Hag makes me happy it's OP in games vs her.
-
SBMM isn't survivor sided. Simple.
-
Survivors don't hate the perk. 3 months ago most people would've been very happy with this change. It's just the Artist that makes this perk broken.
-
Sorry mate I got to disagree with this one.
Your treating every swf as if they are a full team of veteran players. Lower ranks (where the game is considered killer sided) shouldn't be restricted whenever they aren't good enough to use the benefits of a swf. In tournaments they have these sorts of restrictions because they know everyone is a veteran player.
Lastly I believe it kills the variety that of this game. Sometimes swf teams get bored of just looping the killer and doing gens and want to do something differently. Usually this involves them running very similar builds.
They will never be able to buff solo q to the level of swf no matter what happens but I like the direction they are trying to take. Same way no matter what happens they can never have all killers viable at high ranks, no matter how much they buff them. You'll always have the top 5, basically everyone in the middle who'll win most of their matches and the bottom ones that just won't be good enough.
Apologies but I've read plenty of discussions before on swf perk limitations like this and they've never been able to convince me it's a good idea.
-
Do boons need nerfed? No.
Does CoH need nerfed? Yes.

Everything is a trade off. I feel like this would still overall be better. Granted it's a risk thanks to trolls, but so is everything.
Yea I know. Just imagine the forums though if it was buffed like that ๐๐๐ the forums would be covered in DS threads for months
-
I can't watch the videos since I don't have earphones but from what I've read in the comments it sounds like exactly what I feared.
Might be crazy but seems like it could have good synergy with new Gearhead. Reliable information on what gens are being pressured. Ngl I can't remember exactly how Gearhead works lol

Personally I want it to change so you can heal yourself without it deactivating. The trade off being once the heal is completed by you, or you are healed by any other means, it deactivates.
I don't think that would be a good change. You'll just see survivors troll killers near CoH totems and lockers while t-bagging. Just think of the trolling DS users now, but they heal themselves between each jump into a locker.

The main testing didn't take very long, just a few 10-30min sessions. But we also had some fun with it and such. But then I had to go through recordings and make clips and all that. And yes, type out a bunch of stuff. Glad you appreciate the effort!
The main post is definitely a little big, would probably be better if there was a way to collapse/expand sections such that the overall format is easier to follow. But I'm sure people that are interested enough in this stuff don't find it hard to go through, I know I wouldn't.
Cheers. ๐๏ธ
I knew after reading the first bit it was a bit long for me. However after seeing how long it was, the amount of images you included and the credit you got from the comments, I had to give you credit for the amount of effort you put in. This is one of those discussions I might someday come back to read someday if I have any queries on the topic.
It may not have been for me but more of these tests and discussions like this are really good to see. Well done mate ๐
-
I'll be honest I found this very hard too long to read but from what I've read you did a really good job.
Well done on doing a really good test that clears up a lot of things for other people ๐
Also I'd really like to know how long this took to properly test, and especially type out that whole discussion lol
-
I find Blight fun to vs in swf, but not in solo q. I enjoy chases vs him, even with his busted add-ons but solo q survivors being your teammates is just annoying. He's too good in chase and his mobility makes short chases just extremely frustrating.
-
People appreciate the time it takes to master her. I think if they buff solo q and killer respectively, then she would need looked at. Right now though, people would rather the devs focus on other things.
She's a very hard killer to properly nerf without killing her anyway.
-
- Gherman (Bloodborne)
- Safehead or any other boss from the series (Evil Within)
- Lady Dimitrescu (RE: Village)
- Springtrap (FNAF 3)
- Bloody Mary (The Wolf Among Us - personally just really like her design + mirror related power)
Quite tough considering some of the games I'd like a chapter for don't have a specific boss but I tried my best.
-
Personally I believe DS should not be touched ever again
-
Shut Up Kyle!
I don't think I've had a moment like that recently tbh

While I don't like SBMM and think the need to add more nuance to how MMR is calculated they did mention several things in the Dev Update they will be adjusting to try and improve the system.
You weren't suppose to say that ๐๐

There's no reason to send more than one crow to a gen unless she knows for sure you are at that gen, and at this point she is going for your gen and DMS becomes redundant.
She send 3 crows to 3 different gens if she's not in chase for information. Once she hits a survivor with a crow the survivor either leaves the gen or gets injured/downed.
I haven't watched the ptb tbh (seems pretty boring) but if it isn't strong then great ๐
-
No. CoH is busted but that doesn't mean you should bring back a busted perk. Plus I think it would be a nerf to Devour Hope which I wouldn't like.
-
Ok I'm officially bored of all these "game is survivor sided" posts
-
Personally I do my best to avoid the Search And Destroy part of the community lol
-
Wait 3 of the 4 tier lists I saw have Spirit as the 3rd best killer.. but I ThOuGhT ThE NeRf KiLlEd HeR?!?!
The only thing I really disagree with the OPs tier list is Legion being bottom. I feel getting injures so easily is underrated. Also his mend is a good time waste.
-
The meta is the meta. You lost because they ran the meta build, and you didn't.
If you had Corrupt then your first chase wouldn't result in 3 gens being done. Score wise you did quite well for a pretty weak build. No idea what the map was either which also probably made a difference.
Also don't say survivors don't have empathy. Lots of survivors do but like some killers, there are a few survivors that are dicks.

Doesn't necessarily fix the problem, though. We don't want a situation where we're just saying "if you click your flashlight, it's going to burn out, but feel free to do it", we want to prevent something that can be outright harmful and is only good for BM. There's no soft fix to it, because jerks are going to be jerks even if you make it inconvenient on 'em.
So, either you have to change the flashlight visuals entirely, or just slap a cooldown on the thing.
This is like the easiest problem in the game to solve.
A cooldown isn't a good idea because sometimes you blind too quick at an attempt so you need to cancel and quickly go again.
Either way fixing this issue isn't a priority compared to everything else in the game. Is it annoying? Yes but I'd rather they focus their time on other things.

I don't think new players would be baffled by having a limit on how fast you can click flashlights. It's a cooldown, actions in games often have those. Nobody would question it, no more clicky clicky flashy flashy.
I'm just thinking back to the logic that McClean used in his talk about ScottJunds 7.0.0 patch. Specifically in regards to Kindred.
Personally making flashlight charges work like Billy's chainsaw is a better idea imo. You use a lot more charges by clicking a flashlight, than actually using it.
-
It's annoying but I don't think they will do anything about it. It doesn't make sense to a new player why your limited to a certain amount of clicks.
Now if I had to make any changes to flashlights I'd make it so clicking a flashlight uses more charges and holding the flashlight beam uses slightly less. I believe Billy has a similar system with his chainsaw.
-
They've done a great job with getting the voice lines. Credit to you Behaviour.
-
Boons are an interesting concept which gives the survivors a second objective rather than just sit on gens. I bet if the devs recorded stats for the average match length at high ranks before and after boons, they would be longer.
Now that's boons, let's talk about CoH. Yes it needs a nerf and pretty much everyone agrees that it does. Don't lump boons in with CoH (like 95% of people keep doing for some reason).
-
I love how for once the dev team decided to be open about an idea but have just got ######### for it. The haven't always been transparent and unfortunately this thread is the reason one of the reasons why.
This isn't a defense of their lack of transparency since I personally am still hurt we never found out why the early game idea they were thinking about never happened.
The saying "damned if you do, damned if you don't" is the core theme of behaviours transparency.
-
People gotten used to playing a killer, you didn't need to spend much time learning, and still get good results. Now that you actually need to put time into her, people don't like it.
If a new player started playing the game after Spirits nerf and you told them the same thing you tell new players about Nurse, they'll play her a bunch.
I personally really like killer that you don't need to spend tons of time mastering but I like them to be counter able. Agree with the Spirit nerf but I'm a little disappointed in the Freddy and Wraith nerfs. These were my "do challenges" killers.
-
I think this Otz video just proved that the community doesn't really know what way the game is balanced. Maybe it isn't survivor sided, or killer sided.
When you look at this video, the tournament he referenced, other streamers, your own experience.. you'll soon see that there is too many factors to determine what the balance of the game is.
Maybe the devs are the only ones with the proper stats to truely know the balance of the game.
-
Yes you can let go of the gen before the killer hooks the survivor but all the killer has to do is wait a few seconds and then teleport or send the crows.
The Artist for example doesn't take that long to recover crows. She sends one crow to the gen after the unhook, then after immediately after a cooldown. This gives you maybe 5 seconds of time on a gen before you get hit by the crows, then another 5 or so before you either get hit or let go.
I don't mind Dead Mans Switch on Freddy tbh but on Artist I think it'll be really annoying. I haven't seen anything on the ptb so I could be proven wrong (which I hope I am) but I'll see on live release.
-
A game like Madden is obviously going to be more balanced than dbd but that's just because it has far less rng factor.
I don't play Madden but you shouldn't expect the worst team to beat the best team. So depending on who you were playing in your games, the map, the rng of tiles, the perks and the add-ons you were using, you may have had a good enough build to win that game.
Sorry your family left but if you can't handle the stress of the game then it's probably a good thing to leave it. Hopefully the new games are better ๐
-
Well I won't deliberately kill my teammates and won't hide the whole game either but I'll probably not be as risky on certain things.
I.e If I have an escape challenge and the killer is camping when the exit gates are powered, I'm not risking my life for them.
I'm basically of the mindset "If I can get it done in 1 game, I will".
-
It looks really good on paper, but isn't really in practice. 2 survivor perks that are on free characters and 2 killer perks that are actually pretty good.
Can we please just have Flashbangs in the shrine..

McLean easily had some of the worst takes in that video.
His reason for Kindred not being basekit is because "it would be too confusing for new players to understand why it was happening"
If your game is too confusing then you should at least make an attempt to explain it. They have a tutorial section, put a tutorial that explains what happens when a survivor gets hooked.
For a normal game this is not a problem, but for a game like Dead by Daylight that has a bare bones tutorial as it is, it exemplifies the problem of a lack of explanation for numerous mechanics in the game.
I agree with what I said on Kindred though. Tbh I was fully in favour of Kindred being basekit till he said that then I understood why it hasn't been done yet.
I disagreed with certain things he said but I thought Kindred made sense.
-
Unhappy because for some reason console players have the removing chains button on the same button as every other action.
Just shows no one tests these things properly for console. I know I can change my key bindings, but that isn't something I should be expected to do.
