  • Apologies lol I think when I seen some of the other comments and you mentioning what "strategies" would you use, I forgot about the no perk part.

Well the first 2 paragraphs I stand by. Swf = not difficult and solo q = impossible.

  • If your in a smart swf it's probably not too difficult. Would like to try it with mine sometime but I don't think they'd agree to it.

In solo q I'd say it's pretty much impossible unless you become a detriment to your team. Basically you need to be extremely selfish and be stupidly careful.

I'd probably bring Self Care, Bite The Bullet, Dead Hard and Clarvoyance (I hope I spelt that right), all on Blendette. Didn't know what Clarvoyance did until I watched Otz's video.

  • This post reminds me of the time I got slugged by a Hag as the last survivor till I nearly bleed out, then get hooked and slapped till I died. All the while I was singing Yes Sir, I Can Boogie πŸ˜‚

Cheers lol I'd say everyone who normally looks at this have already done it

Wait - Doesn't selecting the epilogue allow the players to select challenges from other epilogues? If so, that would save the Watchful Eye challenge near the top right.

Funnily enough I thought the same thing a few Tomes ago but I was told that it wasn't possible lol

  • Basekit trick blades would be a fun change for Trickster players but horrible to face during survivor.

You'll get downed by those bad players who get lucky with a few ricocheting knives. They spam them everywhere and they get very lucky by some random rocks. So I really wouldn't want it basekit.

  • As someone who got his friends to buy the game and to use dead hard, it is 100% not for beginners.

  • Didn't specify it had to be a killer add-on πŸ‘€ so..

    Flashlights: Piss Off Odd Bulb

    • Increases flashlight beam range by 75%.
    • Increases flashlight consumption by 25%.

Would love a sniper flashlight lol

  • Yes they do. Especially at high ranks people need to care less about winning.

  • No smart videogame company would ban players for bm. Especially something as silly as a t-bag.

That's a buff, and problem is not really a "do bones" or noed but bubba and facecamp.

It's just an example. There's a few other times where it's better to just rush the gens such as someone who's getting tunnelled, ruin, indoor map etc.

Well I wouldn't mind lowering the time to a minute or 90 seconds but I don't think people would be happy with that.

  • I think there's a reason NOED is usually on players that get destroyed.

I don't mind the end game instadown but I think the speed boost is too much.

I also don't like the argument "just do bones" since if a killer is face camping (I.e Bubba) your told to rush gens. So there's no time to waste running around to cleanse all the totems. If he then downs you near the totem, it's impossible to cleanse.

I'd personally remove the hex part of the perk and make it time based. Give the killer 2 minutes of instadown and remove the speed boost.

    ha, yeah!

I actually never made an "I quit" post, which is meant to be part of the joke.

    Well thank god πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  • Good to see you back πŸ‘ dbd is basically the same as when you left. Certain perks OP and other perks are now in the meta.

Either way I'm happy your back 😁 (though if you do decide to quit again please don't create a thread explaining why your leaving. They are the most annoying things to read since we know they'll be back no matter what they say lol)

  • I haven't really thought much about this but what if we had something small like.

    • 15 seconds all gens - Mini Corrupt
    • 4 seconds - Mini BT

Both are pretty bad but better than nothing. I personally don't believe they will add either since they don't like adding things that doesn't make sense to new players.

  • @ActualPainedFrog said:

I know it messes with DS if you don't change your key binds, to be honest, I don't know if I'm just bad but I've been missing a lot of flashlight saves recently as well.

I think if you play in swf and all have the wiggle beta turned off, you'll probably miss less saves. That's what I've been told apparently.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I don't think so but it would also explain why I went from very good to terrible within the span of a day.

    @fulltonon said:

Probably, lately there is unbelievable amount of flashlighters who failed to lightsave, to the point of I gave them free light save.

My friend, similar to me, has used Flashlights and Flashbangs a lot. He said he saw it somewhere (I assume reddit). I noticed that when I went for Flashbang locker saves that I seemed to be late constantly. Haven't used Flashlights in a while but I feel like I'd notice any changes with them quite easily.

I'll probably practice tonight in custom games but I just wanted to see had anyone else noticed it.

  • Unfortunately mate there are scenarios in this game where you can't win. If we saw what happened then we could maybe have spotted something to help you but sounds like you couldn't do anything.

On the survivor side there is another scenario you can't win, regardless of what you do. If the killer has No Way Out and the hatch is closed, it pretty much guaranteed death.

Honestly, it wasn't the small number of changes, it was the restriction on how to change them that got me- I didn't include any addons because I genuinely can't think of any that'd benefit from a number tweak, the problem ones in either direction need more substantial changes.

Also, Tinkerer is pretty much the only problematic Killer perk lmao, not too surprising it got nominated the most.

Hopefully this exercise helps people show a little more lenience towards the devs in future, eh?

Yes I can understand that changing add-ons with those restrictions was difficult but I didn't want people making them too different. Was afraid people would nearly create a new power within an add-on lol

I was surprised to see it the most. I was expecting to see Noed or Dead Mans Switch instead lol

That's the point of the exercise. It's meant to be difficult to get a lot done in one patch. I'm hoping people who gives the devs trouble will try this for themselves and see how tough it is. It was difficult for me to even post this due to the fact I was afraid people would ######### all over the rules. Thankfully everyone that tried it so far has done a great job πŸ‘

    You're welcome!

Yes I absolutely wanted to do a lot more than what I listed but the rules dictated that I couldn't include all of it, so I kinda just arbitrarily chose a few perks that I wanted to be changed. I actually have a list of every perk in the game right now on both sides along with what changes I'd like them to get (if any). It would've been way too much for one mid-chapter patch, but perhaps I'll talk about some more of them that I didn't list here some other time!

I thought about Tinkerer as well, and while I don't think I'd go as far as to say it can only trigger once per generator, I would be okay with something like "Tinkerer can only trigger on the same generator once every X number of seconds (maybe around 45?)" so as to mainly target its synergy with ruin/undying and/or other slowdown perks, but not really act as too much of a nerf if used alone, since I don't think it's a problem at all by itself, only when combined with certain other perks.

As for the "4 buffs 1 nerf" rule, I wasn't really sure whether to count my boil over change as a nerf or a buff since I made part of it stronger but also took away the drop effect - mainly I just wanted to remove the exploitable part of it while still leaving it in a better spot than it was pre-5.5.0.

Dead Hard was something I didn't even want to bother including for the purposes of this exercise since it gets discussed all the time anyways. DS I don't think needs any more changes.

I think your change to Boil Over was a fair one. Either way I didn't mind anyone bending the rules slightly on that one, just as long as they didn't go over board (like what I said when I tagged everyone).

Dead hard will take too much time to rework that I actually added the "rework perk" condition to the top paragraph purely for it. If someone made a slight change to it then I was happy putting it in the perk changes part but a massive rework (like some want for Dead Hard) I think would've taken too much time.

It wasn't 'time constraints' that got me so much as strange rules on how we were allowed to change things. I think a lot more of the balance at the moment should lean towards nerfing perks brought every match, not trying to buff things to match up to them. That's how we end up with broken ######### like Boil Over.

Yes we got Boil Over, which was a terrible change, but it succeeded in the meta being used less. If they buff more perks to be not broken, but a lot better to use I think the game will be better for it.

    @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2786691#Comment_2786691

Honestly no. I wanted to do a lot more on the perk front but thought that Legion in general took priority here. But not being able to rework a bunch of perks and add snazzy new effects was a genuine tragedy.

But hey I managed to sneak in my skillcheck change so that's all that matters

Honestly I was surprised no one mentioned Twins for the rework. I was really expecting someone to come in and say "Twins feel like #########, let's fix her". I'm happy though someone gave Legion some love. Maybe I was too tight on perk restrictions but I was afraid of people going to far one way and redesigning 10 perks lol

You did πŸ‘ honestly was going to add in a "new mechanic" part by itself but I thought that would've been too much for one patch.

  • @Tr1nity @GoodBoyKaru @sizzlingmario4 @anarchy753 @jesterkind

Thanks to all you for participating. I want to know did you find it difficult trying to squeeze everything you wanted to change into such a small area? Do you realise how many things you wanted to change, but didn't have the "time" to do it?

Funny how most of you wanted to give a nerf to Tinkerer. Also don't think I didn't noticed some of you bending the rules slightly to nerf 2 perks on 1 role πŸ˜‰ it's ok πŸ‘ I only added that rule because I didn't want someone doing 3/4/5 nerfs to perks on one role (I.e Nerf Ds, Bt, Boil Over, Dead Hard and CoH).

Once again thanks for participating πŸ‘ hope you had fun

Ye exactly, since i didnt know it was her own I didnt wanted to get to the risk ,but again it doesnt mean to cuck everyone in the lobby.

    True but it's funny.

About 2 months ago I spawned in shack next to a Feng. She had a med-kit and saw the Plague fountain in the corner of shack. I just shook nodding at her as she stood still and dc'ed πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I was dying

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2784914#Comment_2784914

Actually she would, because it glows in a different colour than other people's envelopes and is available to see from the exact second the match begins.

I mean the OP wouldn't know it's definitely Claudettes. She could've just been wanting the points for herself.

  • The Saw chapter is nearly perfect imo. The best for the game arguably was the Halloween chapter since it was the 1st license. I'd say for me it's the Saw chapter.

I'd say the worst is Freddy. He's been a constant problem from being OP to too weak to rework to nerf, after nerf till back to being weak now.

  • Honestly I find it funny take this game that seriously.

Btw i don't think you know how the envelope works lol

If the owner grabs their own envelope, it's revealed to everyone and another survivor can get it. This means that the owner gets more points overall. So if you waited for claudette to grab hers first then you still would've got been able to get it after. There's no way you would've known it was hers though until she got it.

Either way I wish I could've seen her when this happened πŸ˜‚ I just love moments like this where someone, by accident, has great comedic timing.

  • Tbh this would be an extremely weak perk. Also there's Bloodwarden.

  • I'd want FNAF or the Xenomorph. However I think this year it should be F13.

  • Gherman from Bloodborne. Also really like the design of Bloody Mar in The Wolf Among Us.

  • You can't.

Killer won't be fun unless you make it so they can win easily, without needing to get stressed over it. At the highest level, if you want to win, your going to be stressed which isn't fun.

This isn't me saying anything bad about killers, it's just the truth. Playing meme builds is currently the best way to have fun.

  • It's not OP. In a swf, with a build around it, on certain maps it's broken.

  • Well I made a post saying how much I'd want to buff Flashbangs but it isn't a useless perk.

So for survivor I'd say Aftercare to work with Flashlight/Flashbang saves. Isn't really much of a buff but it's something that's annoyed me for a long time.

As for killer I'd say Distressing. I'd make it work so that:

    • Everytime you hit a survivor with your M1 attack, you gain a stack.
    • Each stack will increase your terror radius by 4m.
    • You can have a maximum of 8 stacks.

Think this would create some interesting pairings with Infectious Fright and Unnerving Presence. I was going to make it down based but I don't think that's good enough then.

  • I have 4,500 hour in dbd but I genuinely feel like I play it less than most of the veterans do.

In a week I'd only play the game 4 days (I clicked 3 but meant 4). I'd play for 8 hours on a friday night and maybe 2/3 hours every other night. Compared to everyone else I know, I feel like I play it a lot less.

  • I haven't faced an Artist with it yet but I think it's something that'll be too strong on her.

It falls into the same bracket as most perks like this do. Extremely annoying in solo q but fine when your in a team.

I don't think it should be changed (unlike Boil Over) but I think in a month, after facing a few Nurses, Blights and Artists I may change my mind.

  • I don't really understand it either. One of the only big franchises left that should be in this game.

  • Depends on the killer. Would love to use a full chase build:

    1. Enduring
    2. Spirit Fury
    3. Bamboozle
    4. STBFL
    5. Brutal Strength
    6. Fire Up or Coup De Grace

  • Depends on the day. Currently survivor ques in a two man take me 15 seconds. Usually survivor takes about 5 minutes and killer takes 30 seconds.

  • I don't think Bubba should be reworked. I find him very fun to vs in chase and think he takes a bit of skill to master. Just hitting a survivor at the very end of your chainsaw sweep after moving perfectly around a rock is so satisfying.

His camping is annoying but that's the same with a lot of killers in this game. Basically any good M2 or STBFL and camping is pretty easy.

  • I'm not a massive fan of the 20+ charms per Tome. I never cared about any charms since Tome 4. I will say though as a massive Saw fan I definitely took a look at some of the recent ones.

I would really like some sort of BP increase, shards or xp increase rewards.

  • I think people need to talk complaining about every little thing and be less entitled. Just feel like we shouldn't be focusing on all the little negative things.

Maybe on both sides we shouldn't care about winning every game and just play for fun. As survivor mess around with meme builds and as killer just use perks you enjoy using and don't care about not getting 3/4k.

Also take breaks from the game. If your not having fun, take a break. I've been playing for over 4 years and I've taken probably taken 10 month long breaks.

Thanks for explaining it to him.

Many people ask me what's the point in doing this. It's why I added the 2nd bottom paragraph to explain it. Clearly it isn't properly explained still.

Is there anything in particular I should clarify that would help others understand this better?

It has been lowered to how it is when you crouch. Before this patch you could press the crouch button while being healed and the camera would move down. So I knew immediately it had changed.

When I initially saw it I thought my camera was just at a weird angle with the wall. Then when I turned around I felt weird lol

  • No idea if this is new but I feel like the camera while being healed was lowered more than normal.

Good to have options. This is good for people that have fast killer queues right now. My region won't be that way for another 5-6 hours. Currently it's fast survivor queues.

  • This game is balanced at the highest level. Otzs challenge highlighted something that you are seeming to ignore. This is that:

    • Even if 2/3 gens pop in the beginning, you can still win the game.

You dc'ed once it reached endgame. You should've stayed and you could've gotten a few kills.

Also Scott and Otz don't have survivor sided opinions. They have balanced opinions which is why people like to watch their videos.

Also not showing the gameplay really doesn't help your case. I get that you don't want to because of your mental health, but I assume you've realised texting on here probably didn't help it either. We can't tell both your builds, and what killer you were playing. Depending on what these are, you would've hidden a tougher or easier time vs this team.

I'm sorry you had a frustrating game but you should look at it yourself and try and see things that you could've done better. There's no way you can honestly say you had a perfect game.

  • @Smuk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2769661#Comment_2769661

    Look at few minor things:

Grab mechanic - works horribly and can be timingly abused. Where mid grab animation gets canceled into the attack. This could prevent save or doing gen and give a killer upperhand - issue!

    Grab mechanic part 2:

Survivor which has been downed at the exit gates most likely due to bad manners can be saved to exit by not being able to perform a grab on a guy who tries to revive. By either reviving or faking revive in intervals, downed survivor will slug out - It has not been addressed to this day.

From all survivor perks, 95% of the time DH BT DS IW COH. BT is good perk and I do not see any issue with it.

DH has been β€œfixed” and proven way OP. Up until β€œsoon” nothing will change.

CoH has drastically increased surviving rate and efficiency, as you do not need 2 survivors off gens to perform a heal, but everybody can have an amazing selfcare.

QoL changes or improvements on killer side is almost zero to nothing. Not to even mention it took time, to even fix totem spots, where killer COULD NOT snuff the totem.

The game changes are making mostly useless 80% of killers roster - maps, dh, coh.

If others are having their opinion close to mine it makes it communites opinion which express community dissatisfaction which leads to dying game.

Because clearly, some still struggle with staying or leaving and some have left. Yes people come and go. It makes sense. But once there is more people leaving then coming, that is the red flag that something is wrong. Is it not enjoyable for survivors or killers?

Queue times represent ratio, and killers definitely suffer more. Every nerf tries to squeeze more effort from killers to achieve same result. So for every good result you eventually get punished.

Top part is an issue that someone who does game development can explain why it's a difficult problem to fix.

2nd part is annoying but it's a strategy. You need people to be alive, usually full health, hope the killer doesn't have STBFL and not have any power that stop survivors exiting. It's annoying but nothing that is a top priority to be addressed.

I'm going to be honest. The whole thing now just seems killer sided. Not one of your points is about the other side that isn't your preferred role, which is survivor. Totems being uncleansable? Survivors had it for years.

My point is we all want this game to be perfect for ourselves. People saying they want the game to be balanced (which is 2k at the highest level) are the same people complaining about the games being to sweaty.

Is the game perfect? No. Do I think they can make some better changes? Yes. Will I blame them for me wanting to take a break from the game or fully quitting? No.

I'm terrible at explaining so my apologies if this reads like a mess but I think we all just want what's best for us, and don't think with a neutral mindset. This is what creates the 100,000 threads complaining about stuff, which ultimately leads to us quitting or annoying enough people to make them quit.

How exactly can be community fault?

If the development brings bad decisions into the game, its the community fault cos they dont enjoy the game anymore?

You interpret them as bad decisions but that's your opinion. What makes what you think is a "bad decision" really right? I don't all your views on this game from balance to fun to updates etc. All I know is that we as a community are why this game is so unfun.

This recent QnA highlighted this for me. We complain the devs aren't as transparent, that they don't do as many streams as before. Then when they do one we ######### all over it, complain they aren't answering the questions we asked 50,000 times and saying it was a waste of time.

I don't mind someone saying you've gotten bored of the game. I just hate this idea "the game is dying because the devs did ___ ". I fully believe it's our entitlement, our belief the game needs to be the exact way we want it, that it's dying.

Whilst I wouldn't lump every member of the community together, you have a good point.

Imagine creating a game which you feel is good and understand needs some tweeks, and yet every day you read messages, comments and stuff saying: "You have no ######### clue about your game?", "This game is terrible because the devs suck", "Call yourself devs? You're pathetic!". Whoever you are, you will build a resentfulness. You've built up a game for years and made a success, and yet still berated. I'm certainly not saying that means BHVR ought to respond with jibes - that's unprofessional. But it's clear why some are as they are.

The better aspects of the community needs to make sure that the childish comments the minority make are dealt with.

Literally what I'm saying with the 2nd paragraph.

I also don't mean to lump all good eggs with bad eggs but every person that says "this game is dying because the devs are doing this ___ " to me is part of the problem.

I find these sort of topics hard to explain by texting rather than talking but I hope what I mean came across.

1 … 10 11 12 13 14 … 99
