  • It's better, but it's still a mobile UI. I don't want to sound contrarian. So, I recognize the effort, even if I don't like the result.

We gave them feedback that the new UI was too spread out and the new info could be condensed in the old layout. Now, instead of cluttering all around the edges of the screen, it clutters the left 1/3rd of it.

Again, definitely an improvement, but I hope they don't just try to stick to a different layout just to prove a point that the HUD rework was worth it.

I don't think this patch comes close to the Twins update which was logically the worst one in front of darkness among us

I think it's bad in the sense that in the aftermath of the A Binding of Kin fiasco, BHVR came out with reassureances that things were going to change. And here we are in the very next large patch after that one with history repeating itself.

This patch in isolation might not be the worst (still top 3), but the cumulative effect is what's causing major damage.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

I feel like this should be on the feedback part of the forum

You mean the section devoted to posts that BHVR will ignore.

  • @BattleCast said:

This obviously isn't intentional, but I don't know how something like this got past QA.

There's clearly no internal QA. We are the QA in the PTB and we know how that one turned out.

  • Just puts into perspective when she said it took them months to make the UI. So, they do 3-4 days of 'actual' work in a month (example ptb to release) times how many months? So how many 'actual' days on the UI? And they come up with that end result.

I swear you can't make this ######### up. Hilarious.

  • Oozing passive-aggressiveness. Not really a good way to handle communication. Ironically, coming by a community manager that just yesterday said communication should've been handled better.

Also, maybe don't invest months (suspicious figure by the way) into something nobody asked for and come up with a terrible product, while ignoring the plethora of years old bug that the community has been complaining about.

Plus, this confirms once again that when they pushed this mess to live, they were lying when they said they wanted to hear console feedback. And they wasted our time giving them feedback in the PTB as well. It was already planned, decided and sealed. They didn't give a ######### about what we thought until we raised out voices.

They're digging their hole even deeper, as far as I'm concerned.

  • They got plenty of constructive criticism and civil discussion for the PTB feedback. It didn't cut it. It was straight-up ignored. Only unleashing a ######### storm seems to get a reaction.

As such, your argument is invalidted by empirical evidence.

  • They didn't have time. They were too busy not changing the UI.

Holy ######### now they really say changing a number in the code requires a ptb now. Hilarious.

  • Well, I've already stopped, but thanks for your input.

While true, simply yelling into the ether doesn't solve anything, and that's all the last day on the forums has been, yelling into the ether and offering no fixes or anything, screaming at the devs solves nothing, making it clear the devs made massive blunders and offering ways to fix it is

The yelling is a natural consequence of the talking (ptb feedback) falling upon deaf ears. If you can't be heard speaking normally, then you need to take it up a notch.

  • If colorblind people calmed down, they would've got nothing from this company.

BHVR's track record shows us that calming down is definitely not the way to go.

If you want to be passive and submissive, that's your call.

  • Because too many keep spending money despite any ######### they feed us.

  • Thanks for relating this. I'm not surprised in the least.

One last small thing that I've only seen in one other thread: you can't tell when a downed survivor is being healed. That was valuable information, and now it's just not relayed to the player.

I pointed this out in the PTB feedback, but it wasn't addressed. Heck, the bar itself is very difficult to see and often you can't tell how much time is left, especially in deep wound.

And on a related note, the status effect icon is still a red circle on a red circle. I guess they wanted to make everybody feel colorblind to even the field.

As far as I can tell, the only real change from the PTB is the injured icon. It took them one month for that. Pretty good job so far. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna play some Civ 5.

    1. It doesn't take a month. It's not a university advanced math exam.
    2. If they want to rework the maps I don't have a problem with it, as long as they address the issues of those map. Breakable walls are still a pointless addition. Gideon is even worse gameplay-wise.
    3. People don't play Clown because he sucks and is boring. He was tested properly in the PTB. The buffs are welcome but minor. To your second point, players were looking forward to an overdue rework to make him more and enjoyable and - wait for it - to playing it more.
    4. The DEVS are not getting harsh treatment out of nowhere. They got plenty of constuctive and civil discussion and feedback for the PTB and they simply went ahead and said ######### it. The backlash was perfectly earned, because the measured talking fell upon deaf ears. They even forced on us that narrative that they wanted to hear console feedback before making any big changes to the new UI, which is sketchy as ######### because they didn't and don't have any intention to fix its major issues:
    Untitled Image

Which also means they asked for feedback knowing it meant nothing because their mind was already made.

When the backlash is deserved, then it's not only an option, but it's often the only way to be heard. Colorblind options being a case in point.

    5. Are you seriously suggesting they shouldn't ask their paying customers their opinions on the product they're paying for? While opening up your wallet doesn't give anyone the right to be an #########, you can bet it gives you the right to receive your money's worth. And the consensus on this mess of patch has been here since the PTB.

  • Officially, they only pushed it to live to hear console feedback.

Except they actually already had no intention to revert it:

    Untitled Image

BHVR gave us the good ol' bait-and-switch this time.

  • It's confirmed. It's broken both from survivor's and killer's pov. Maybe it has something to do with the new animations and the models being misaligned with the hurtbox or causing visual desync.

  • Who wants to bet they'll they didn't have time to fix it and it will posponed until the colorblind options?

It doesn't even sound unrealistic if you think about the fact that they weren't able to include the buff to Open Handed in this patch even though it's pretty much just a number change lol

    Touché!

  • That sounds like one of those made-up reasons that one could hear from a movie, where there's nothing realistic but they just throw around a bunch of terms that sound technical.

Not really it will get used with ds so unbreakable will be replaced still right saying it will end up meta doe

Remember ds only deactivates on a healing action second wind isn't so if second wind activates you still have 40 seconds of ds left.. If you go down in 40 seconds of being healthy em you may need to improve sorry :(.

What will most likely happen is while bt is being run killers will adapt by triggering the bt if they cacth the unhooked surv a deep wounds Denys a full heal of second wind youd still be injured when it activates. So instead what could happen is survs find a way to unhook no bt and probably act as a sheild for 20 seconds that way second eind can trigger and your teamates takes the aggro allowing you to get a gen done.

    Thats my prediction anyway

You're better off using Inner Strength if you want a fast heal that saves DS. Much easier to activate and you don't lose it if you get tunneled off hook and put in deep wound or downed.

  • Don't worry, we're waiting the console folks to hear their feedback. Because apparently they have compound eyes that can handle the scattered layout no problem.

  • The branch of doom. You would expect a chainsaw to be able to deal with that. Instead you faceplant everytime.

  • @Zagrid said:

How much backlash are they willing to take is the question.

No one in the community likes this new UI. Or at least the very few that do are in a like 5% minority.

There has never been a feature they have added for no reason that more people have hated before.

So the question is, will they cave?

How much backlash? The answer is a LOT. Like a AWFUL LOT.

Just think about how many ill-advised changes they backtracked on in recent history, without going all the way back to the infamous update where you could stun/blind the killer during pick up. Not many out the top of my head.

    I can only recall:

    • Hillbilly's overheat and they only toned down the numbers, because it was literally impossible to chainsaw in the PTB (i.e. character breaking).
    • Aura update. Actually reverted because genuinely game breaking.
    • Colorblind options. They actually didn't revert anything here but their stance that "it will come when it does". And they were strong-armed into it in order to damage control a massive PR ######### show.
  • They won't revert it unless it becomes a fiasco of the proportions of the colorblind options. They spent time and money to make the new UI. They can't just go to their bosses and say "hey, you know that UI that absolutely nobody ever asked for and we still went ahead and made, instead of fixing the plethora of years old bugs? Yeah, 95% of the players hate it. So, we're just gonna scrap it but thanks for the paychecks". That's not how companies work. Invested resources need to be justified.

They're pushing it to live with the pretext of the console feedback (as if console players have differently functioning eyes, apparentely). Then, in a few weeks, the backlash is gonna get drowned by the launch of the new chapter.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

Well if its to get feedback from console then I can understand. Us on console doesn't have any access to the PTB so I assume most of the info they get from it is told from the perspective of PC and not console.

I feel if its something as big as a ui change then they should get feedback from all platforms not just one so that they don't make hasty decisions and cut it without giving everyone a chance to try it out. So I say send it out and wait for the results.

I mean, just because you play on a controller it doesn't make your eyes work differently than a PC player's. One doesn't even have to have played the PTB to get the feeling. It's not a change to a killer power or controls where you actually need to get in the driving seat to assess how it works. It's an entirely visual change. You can just watch any video of the PTB and get the same feeling as the player.

  • If I understand correctly, you want high skill ceiling and potential for impressive plays.

Then I'd say Nurse, Oni, Huntress and Billy. In no particular order.

  • He was playing survivor. His job wasn't to just give up and feed you a kill because your rulebook said the game was over.

  • No. I already tried during PTB. Unless someone shows me some groundbreaking plays that nobody thought of, then he's simply old Clown just slightly better.

    @CornHub said:

Way too many people are underestimating his new speed boost bottles. People fail to realize how strong a clown with better map pressure is.

His new bottles don't give him any map pressure. He's default cloacked Wraith speed, but only for 5 seconds and at the cost of his anti-loop and having to reload more often.

I'm not sure how you got the idea that I'm complaining about not being able to tunnel someone who unhooked themselves 5 seconds after they got hooked, because nobody is getting tunneled in that situation, just a survivor being able to get away for free.

You don't have to be hiding in a locker, just don't be stupid and play a little safe at the beginning and just immediately rush the hook when they catch someone.

Unhooking yourself means another survivor doesn't need to stop working on a gen and rescue you; you even mentioned this yourself.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1926099#Comment_1926099

I'm pretty sure unhooking a survivor counts as progressing the game to me, so why should self unhooks be treated differently?

That doesn't refute my point at all.

  • @ExcelSword said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1926078#Comment_1926078

Deliverance is the most reliable (but not the only) way to self unhook.

DS triggers currently on self unhooks.

Proposed nerfs to DS will stop survivors from doing risky plays because of DS.

Self unhooking is a risky play currently protected by DS.

Ergo, DS should not trigger on self unhooks.

That is the basis of what I am discussing about Deliverance and their interaction as a whole. And no, Deliverance is not hard to trigger at all, especially if you run BT and just play a bit safe at the start.

Proposed DS will prevent survivors from PROGRESSING the game AFTER they get off the hook and retain DS. The devs told us so much. In none of your scenarios the survivors are progressing the game after getting off the hook.

  • @ExcelSword said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1925895#Comment_1925895

DId they? I guess I should go check the stream again to check this out. I could have sworn they only changed how it can deactivate.

New DS is active after unhooking yourself:

    Untitled Image

Also, I don't understand your reasoning. How is this 'abusing'? The perk is literally working as intended. Deliverance is high risk/high reward. If you get hooked before getting a safe rescue, you completely wasted a perk slot. If they get Deliverance active, then it's meant to have an impact.

Regarding your point 7, there's no reason for you to not slug survivor 1 or at least put them on deep wound. It's purely your choice. If it happens near the exit gates, it means they invested in 3 perks at least (Deliverance, DS, BT) just to get out of that situation. And, also, you didn't hook survivor 2 until endgame. You should be working on that.

  • Crutch is a vague notion that has no conventionally agreed upon definition. Especially in the DbD community where the term is thrown around very liberally as a generic reason to justify a nerf request or as a backhanded insult.

I do think that there balanced and unbalanced, fair and unfair perks, add-ons, etc.

I don't understand where this aggression came from but ok.

Also, I never said anything about BBQ. Not sure why you would have added that.

It's not aggression. It's annoyance with this community. You started your thread by saying that you noticed the threads asking for a SC nerf, then you proceed to make another n-th clone of those. To what purpose? Same as the others.

The BBQ addition wasn't directed at you. It was meant to include an example of another perfectly fine perk that is targeted by nerf requests, only for the other role. Just to get ahead of the inevitable "entitled survivor/killer" main rebuttal.

  • Undetectable is just a label. Its effect is to lose TR and red stain. That's it.

Spine Chill is fine. BBQ is fine. Just play the damn game for ######### sake.

  • That's actually gonna be basekit with the new UI.

If anyone needs an example, just look at the aura changes. It took a literal uproar for the experts to realize it was trash.

Yeah, good example. It obviously broke the game in the PTB. Ignored feedback and pushed to live anyway, only to be rectified after the proverbial ######### storm.

I really hope they will, also I'm pretty sure they will lose majority on their playerbase if this doesn't get a change soon

Their track record shows that it takes some major backlash for them to listen to feedback when they're already so dead set on something. Like colorblind-gate levels of backlash.

  • @CakeDuty said:

They said they took into account that some things on the HUD were hard for coloblind players to see and that was going to be changed before the release. So I'm sure this is getting changed.

I'm not even colorblind and that new icon is actually ridiculous. Straight up looks like someone randomly picked up a couple of colors from a palette and then they called it a day because they were in a rush to go mind their business. I don't believe even for a second that was tested internally before being pushed to PTB.

  • Chain blinding in that situation is done for points, just like giving free hits and healing. If you just want to let them go, then just turn away and leave.

  • @OBX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1924271#Comment_1924271

This is nothing more than the people who made it having a serious case of CYA to their bosses. I doubt they could go in to the boss and say “hey, we just spent a lot of man hours and a boatload of money on this new HUD, but it is an utter disaster. It’s worse in nearly every single way than the current one. Should we start over?”

Doesnt work that way sadly. This manure was going to be pushed out the moment they made it. The “let’s let everyone try it out” was simply a way to appease the bosses and not admit abject failure.

This^. I pointed out this even back then for Billy's overheat mechanics and related VFX.

The new HUD is going to stay. They might fix some colorblind things here and there. Other than that, they'll wait for the live feedback and I a few weeks they'll sweep this fiasco under the rug while hyping up the new chapter.
