Time limited offers is okay, seasonality is fine. The same way as Im fine with stores not having Christmas decorations every day of all years.
You have to demonstrate to me why its bad first. Sure I can agree it would be bad if you prefer it every day, but your preferables should not dictate the rest of the world imo.
This isn't about preferences or seasons
It's about content that was previously available to all being suddenly padlocked behind a month of the year in an obvious effort to drive up sales via artifical exclusivity

Well, thanks you two. While a bummer this is at least now known and no sudden disappointment.
Yeah it's less of a sudden disappointment, more of a slowly shaking your head disappointment. I can't say I was personally surprised by it
That's how it was for me at least
-
I'm sure any post you make will be way more entertaining and less obnoxious than this unfunny dwelf thing they've been doing for 3 years now
So, anything really.

What I would want to know and getting confirmed, though: will the seasonal outfits become purchasable with shards during the last 4 days, or is the 4 weeks thing not a hard timer?

I completely understand that...and yes, we did not want players to expect them to be released for iri shards at the end of December and then become disappointed, whilst I'm not bringing good news, it's something we did want to address as quickly as possible.
So they are confirmed to be auric only at the moment

Just want to make sure, his story does not dominate the narrative in your decision making on this, Im perfectly fine with seasonal cosmetics and some things being auric cells only.
Why though
Like I respect your POV, but why are you okay with this artifical exclusivity stuff?
The game clearly doesn't need it, it wasn't a thing before so why is it being done now?
Also I agree with you abt the auric only stuff, Idm that because at least the content is still available at any time.

Well so things are divided and people can look forward to something. perhaps you prefer Christmas 365 days a year?
The thing is, it's forced artifical exclusivity on content that was already available at any time
BHVR has really went back on their no exclusive content stuff; amazon prime, stuff you need other games for and now this
I get it, it sells but it's a scummy practice

They're now taking away older outfits which previously weren't even time limited. Image source.
What the actual #########, BHVR?
I guess the Feng Min money bucket is running dry

Yeah it's weird how the FOMO outfits are auric cell only
It's almost like they want to pressure people into buying them or something, weird

@Levitika said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3284445#Comment_3284445
"Just don't buy them" is a piss-poor attitude, as it puts the blame on the consumer. It's much like any of the other crap people say in this game. Getting genrushed? Getting tunnelled? Just play better. It's not the players' fault or responsibility to compensate for predatory business practices, especially when BHVR is already potentially breaking the law with their fake-discount crap for linked cosmetic sets (It's illegal to portray an item as having a "discount" when there is no other way to obtain it without said discount, making it artificial).
I don't think it's blaming the consumer when the only actual way to get them to stop these practices is to stop buying into it collectively but that's impossible because some people just buy anyway and don't care
I do think it's greed though, I don't disagree I just think the only way companies learn is when there's actual tangible consequences for their actions.
-
All this does is try to pressure people who would otherwise wait for a sale or get the cosmetics at their own pace to fish out the money for it now.
If you're a diehard main of a character, you'd probably get the cosmetic regardless so it's not your money they are after. They want the money of people who see the cosmetic for a character they like and the pressure of "get this before it goes away" kicks in
The ethics of the practice doesn't matter when they've already got your money right?
Don't forget to vote for DBD In the Labour of Love award!
-
Unfortunately, they wouldn't do this if it didn't work
Think about it, if nobody bought these cosmetics BHVR would probably be forced to go back on it because I'm sure nobody at BHVR wants to make content that literally nobody buys. The "exclusivity" is fake. Always will be
I hate it as well, but when I see them doing stuff like this - I just don't give them my money and advise others who hate this kind of practice to do the same. Some people just buy buy buy though, so they'll never go back on it
This isn't the worst it could be though, I'm sure they're testing the waters
-
I think you might've made a mistake about Eruption?
Their kicks don't apply it to gens but I think them putting somebody into the dying state triggers it right? The perk description says when a survivor enters the dying state

Honestly, do y'all ever think about average killer strength without making Nurse the forefront? It's pretty typical and easy for y'all to ignore the existence of Clown, Freddy, Ghost Face, etc. Why not do the same for Nurse every now and then? Just a thought.
I don't think any killer is arguing that combo isn't strong. Nurse's range add-ons should not have doubled as charged time add-ons, as Otz had to point out for months or years until it got nerfed. But what's wrong with Deadlock or Tinkerer? Tinkerer's nerf especially was complete BS. After Undying AND Ruin was nerfed, Tinkerer should have been fine activating multiple times. We're seeing history repeat itself with CoB/Overcharge/Eruption, where the 1 perk Eruption is the "problematic perk", but we're also calling for nerfs to the other perks in the combo as well? Makes no sense.
What's the metric for killer strength though
How many hooks they can get and still win? How many kills they can get? How long it takes for them to down someone?
Killrates seem to show majority of the roster getting more than a 2k on average.
Trapper, the worst killer in the game has a 56% killrate in the top 5% of MMR Which I guess you could equate to "high level" (Personally, I have no idea if that's what it means)
Obviously, stats aren't everything and you cannot draw concrete conclusions from them of course but what does this mean? Does this mean that Killer isn't so hard if you're willing to play a certain way/use certain perks and so on?

There's a very big difference. The killer's gen defence perks are mostly based on people getting injured, downed, hooked, and kicking gens. The survivor's perks are activated by, what, being injured, vaulting a window, getting off hook which was their fault in the first place. Survivor second chance perks are way more forgiving and simple to execute. They also trump the killer's slowdown, and not the other way around like most people like to believe. What's the top killer perks people complain about? Eruption, Pain Res, Pop even. But they all require a down, so how's the killer gonna get the slowdown from the perk if they're barely downing people because of second chances? They just don't, unless it's against bad survivors who can't give a single 20s+ chase. You can't even use gen defence once they're all done, so that's another crucial way they're different from survivor second chance perks. The devs are only now equalizing that.
I like how you intentionally ignore Deadlock in your comparison
A perk that you bring and have to do nothing for it to work. Like, you could go AFK and not pressure survivors at all and deadlock will still go off and prolong the match.
People are complaining about Eruption because the counterplay to it, is virtually nonexistant. Pain res I don't see anyone complaining about personally and pop is probably the weakest gen regression perk in the game now compared to the others
There is nuance to people's complaints, unlike what that clip you posted would make you believe. It's not just "wah this perk lets killers win so nerf it its bad", Eruption is a problematic perk for a few reasons but if you ask me - it's what I said previously; minimal counterplay/removal of player agency.
Obviously, that applies both ways - people's complaints about surv perks have nuance to them too. I'm not saying otherwise.

This clip describes this cycle perfectly: https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxvpGrZYdxHLr_piz2x9LYuLXcnlQ7vRVu
For the most part I agree with you, but then the random "STBFL is OP on Deathslinger." It was strong, not broken, but that was before his nerf, because now his zoom-in is much too slow for the quick time to down which that build aimed for. And killer can get 4-man escaped against even with gen defense. People will totally ask for a Jolt nerf though. "It's just like Eruption but no cooldown!" is the excuse I'm expecting.
I wouldn't call this a perfect description of anything tbh.
I respect Tru3's opinion as he's entitled to it the same as anyone but he often makes broad generalisations that have some truth to them but it's not 100% of the picture. I'm pretty sure he even admits that what he says is based mostly on his own experiences and what he's seen which isn't always completely accurate to how things are overall.
Again both roles complain about the strong stuff each side has, there's no "cycle". People who play this game aren't a hivemind

The difference being that the survivor meta is whatever is the most broken, because for killer it's whatever is the least weak.
The survivor meta are perks that keep them in the match as long as possible
The killer meta are perks that keep them in the match as long as possible
They aren't so different you know
Besides, both sides abuse broken stuff. They always have, and probably always will because people want to win.

if your carrying someone and you have to hit a survivor to get the effect what benefit is a tr 12 meters out?
The exposed lingers for 30 seconds after you stop carrying the survivor which is why the TR thing is important imo
A nurse can get a hit on a surv in less than 30s and some other killers might be able to as well. Blight probably could but it doesn't work on his m2
-
Binding of Kin levels of horrendous
Buggy unfinished chapter rushed out the door.
New killer with a cool power conceptually done poorly
Vittorio is overrated and people are buying into the marketing BHVR is doing, marketing which shows they clearly didn't have confidence this chapter could do well without.
Map RNG is broken across the board, creating a lot of fat shame spots or putting random clutter in places it shouldn't
New map already had it's offering killswitched and chances of appearing lowered because they somehow made the map spawn insane amounts of pallets
Playstation players being locked out of playing matches, a bug that won't be fixed for another week (lol)

Cool advice

Pretty sure it does but it's 30% of 5 which is only 1.5s diff
-
The lack of a basic attack requirement makes Eruption extremely versatile, any killer can use it
It doesn't matter if a survivor goes down to a zombie, a blight rush, a wesker dash, victor, a guard from knight; eruption triggers off all of them
-
You can't do both at the same time, so I think it has to be one or the other
You either remove chain or drop pallet
I think that's how it works

The doctor's static/shock is a special attack according to the wiki. I can't find anywhere in the wiki where it states that screaming further regresses the health state, outside of regression that is already happening due to Sloppy Butcher.
OP is asking if a survivor being forced to scream would trigger Sloppy's hemmorage effect (Healing regressing when not healing)
When survivors are forced to scream, whatever action they are occupied with at that time will stop thus triggering hemmorage if that action happens to be healing
-
Yeah it does
It does that to all interactions I think, including killer related ones like pig boxes, pinhead box solving etc

Or that killers in competitive are playing against the sweatiest possible 4 stacks who practice together on a regular basis, and they still often 4k even with restrictions on their killer builds. You can never convince many killers that they have a skill issue.
Are those the same kinds of players who if they get outplayed and lose, they get mad in EGC and demand 1v1s
I've seen quite a few of people like that and their behaviour baffles me
-
Binding of Kin 2.0
BHVR was doing so well with recent content lately and then they do this
They release another buggy mess of a chapter with a horrible map, a survivor that they need to resort to cringe thirst marketing to sell and a killer with a fun power conceptually mishandled and bugged to all hell
What happened to Original killer designs? What happened to the people who made the good ones? Are only licensed chapters allowed to be good now?
Dredge is the only well designed original we've had in a long time
-
I nominated rimworld
much more deserving i think
-
Another shard only chapter for me, thanks
I haven't bought an original chapter since Deathslinger and I don't plan to, especially if they are as awful as Twins/Knight have been
-
It probably was noticed
But they aren't gonna delay their content to fix it, they basically never do because keeping to their schedule is important
-
I'm getting Flashbacks to Trickster's release
A power that has it's moments but is ultimately mediocre at what it does compared to other similar Killers (For Trickster, it was Huntress and for Knight it's Artist)
A chapter theme that's not been completely done justice
Also an insanely buggy chapter so far, almost as bad as Binding of Kin

I mean they know their playerbase well, they know a hot, shirtless man will make them $$$
Appealing to a section of your audience is one thing.
Doing it so blatantly just makes BHVR look shallow. Or rather, the people who put forward the mandate for it, whoever that is
I'm not even the biggest Haddie fan, but I still think she's a way cooler character than the new guy. Any feelings of appreciation I might have for the new survivor is lost when I realise BHVR is trying to market him like this.
-
The only character in this game I think the "unappealing to look at" thing might apply to is Twins
And that's only because of the obvious, she has a massive gaping hole in her torso with a little gremlin sticking out. Even the sound that plays when you unbind victor is gross as hell, it sounds like a bone being snapped in half
Also haha guys we gave the male survivor a shirtless cosmetic we're so cool, ok now give us your money you predictable creatures

Hell, is it a mistake if your choice is 'staring contest over the pallet area', 'continue to go around and around without closing any distance', or 'take pallet and move on'? It's not like most killers can actually down everyone before they get to a pallet.
Yeah I mean it's just imo, I think getting stunned should be a mistake and not something you want to happen

in some instances when the killer corners you in a pallet break, a flashlight blind can get you out of the corner especially if the killer let's you chain-blind them. the flashlight blind at pallets only works because killer is deaf during the blind, but some of the updates break flashlights and then blind no longer deafen the killer so the flashlight becomes useless at pallets.
Have Flashlights ever deafened the killer?
I know they added a sound effect that plays when you get blinded but I don't recall ever being deafened by it. Flashbangs are the only exception at one point they had a slight deafen sound effect they don't know
-
Agitation and map knowledge is usually all you need to render boil over virtually useless. Plus Agitation is a good perk without using it to counter boil over. You can slot it into any build and you'll get value out of it every game since you will always have to spend time carrying and agi just feels nice.
Something I like to do is take note of close hooks before I pick up, so I know immediately where to go to not give them any extra time to wiggle. Thankfully a lot of the abuse spots for boil over have been made less annoying over time. Eyrie of crows has 2 hooks in main upstairs and RPD library is gone now.
I play on PC though, I heard boil over was so bad for our controller using friends it needed to be toned down. Annoying perk

How about instead of blocking the Gens effected by Eruption they just not allow Survivors to repair it for 25 seconds?
Like putting the Incapacitated effect onto the Gen and not the Survivors that got caught by it
Or change how Incapacitated works...
No more Gen blocking... there's enough perks that do the same thing... and they don't allow regression to happen while the gen is blocked
It would be less frustrating if you could still do something productive in that time, for sure

Just how I feel about it, no like super logic to it

grabs and downs while they use DH? so you jumped to straight out lieying now. Thats exactly what i said. its not "smart" to press e near a vault, killer HAS to hit you. No winnable situation there. If that is what you consider smart then downing someone while eruption is active must eb 1000IQ mindgames.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3270549#Comment_3270549
your entitlement is showing.
So if I'm chasing an injured survivor and I know that if I lunge, I'll hit them but I also don't underestimate them and I instead wait
They DH in my face and then they go down or they DH then are forced into a medium vault, which is a grab
So no, I'm not a liar. It's basic game sense lol
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3270538#Comment_3270538
You just told me the counterplay is "just don't lunge" and "just don't use certain killer powers". That's exactly the point. It's still miserable for killers.
You're basically telling many killers they should just stop using their power, and just keep walking and walking until they are in point blank range, then tap M1. And if the killer's power is important to the killer, well too bad for them.
It's Pyramid Head's fault for daring to use his power, because it has such a telegraphed sound cue, that survivors can hit dead hard after they hear the sound cue. It's Huntresses fault for daring to use her power outside of close range, because survivors can hit DH after they hear the sound cue. They should have just stopped using their power and just walked up to the survivor instead. And there are many other killers that have the same situation, where they get punished for daring to use their power. It's not ok. It's miserable. But if we're told "it's fine" then Eruption is fine too, by the same standard, that perks aren't required to have fair counterplay.
By all means, you can try to use your power/lunge at someone who has DH
But they might time it right and get away with it
Force it out of them or hit them while they're animation locked
-
@Terion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3270538#Comment_3270538
And what about my vault scenario which you completely ignored because it dont fit your narrative? where is the "counterplay" ?
Sorry I didn't understand what you meant
I thought you were referring to the times where an injured survivor is smart enough to know that if the Killer lunges as they vault, they'll get hit so they wait and try to DH at the vault so you hit them and they get away with it
But like
That's nowhere close to being uncounterable, considering I've gotten so many grabs/downs on survs trying to do that. Sure the first time when I don't know they have DH fair enough but every time after that, it doesn't work.

Give us a visual Q 0.5s before dead hard happens, so killers can have "fair counterplay"
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3270510#Comment_3270510
DH doesn't have a visual Q before it happens. Killers can make an attack when their screen doesn't show a dead hard, and by the time the attack connects, the survivor could have blocked it with a dead hard. If 0.5s visual Qs are fair counterplay, then add it to dead hard. I'm bringing up dead hard because they should be held to the same standard. If dead hard is fine even though it's still super miserable for the killers, and still constantly showing up almost every game, then eruption is fine too.
I mean they are worth comparing but in my personal POV DH has more counterplay because it can be waited/baited out. Once you see the 0,5s animation, that's it - you get the hit 100%. Not to mention if you're, let's say tunnelling someone who's deep wounded; their perk does nothing. It has things that stop it working
Waiting out an eruption is possible, but at least when you're waiting out someone's DH you're still pressuring them, aka furthering your objective. With survivor you have to basically be useless or be productive and then useless bc of incap lol.
-
@Terion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3270521#Comment_3270521
yes exactly, as i thought, you just want it to be nerfed to the ground. Why on earth would i pick eruption when it doesnt set off anyway because now its super easy to wait out? You can just wait it out, take your 10% loss and then IMMEDIATLY work on the gen again. Whole point of eruption ruined.
That's not what I said though.
I'm saying I would agree with your argument if Eruption had a 0.5 visual cue like DH does
But it doesn't
So I don't agree with your argument
-
@AcelynnBen said:

DHs visiual Q is an animation you mostly not see when its used because they are BELOW your camera angle. And when you finally learn to not fall for spin into DH, then you learn too how it can be absolutly busted on vaults and even thrown pallets. Either let them vault and get to the next loop OR hit them for their DH endurance and so they cant use it in the next loop. Still a loose loose situation.
So yeah, if DH is fine, eruption is too.
Give us a visual Q 0.5s before eruption happens then I will 100% agree with you
-
Blinding at pallets is always a bad idea
You lose distance doing it
It's good for points/challenges though or if you're not the one being chased.
