Is it possible to get an ignore user option on this forum?
While most users on this forum are nice, respectful and add to discussions there are a couple less productive, mostly antagonistic members that never contribute to discussions that I would love to be able to put on my ignore list and not have to read their posts.
They added an ignore list, I'm pretty sure?
Also I don't want to double post so I'm gonna quickly say - I'm not really the biggest fan of the new forums at all. Everything feels so disjointed, it's a pain to navigate and idk the old layout was pretty good and looked clean. Not really a fan of how it looks in general
Need more time to formulate more accurate feedback but yeah.
-
I don't enjoy Genlock meta, making solo Q a prolonged chore.
I don't enjoy half of my killer games having DCs/people giving up for little to no reason.
I don't enjoy map offerings, of which I see constantly
And finally, most important of all - I don't enjoy BHVR releasing unfinished half baked content riddled with bugs and season locking cosmetics for no reason.
This is why I feel like the game is in a bad state, right now.
I can't even take solace in the fact that Eyrie of Crows might finally be getting changed because it's 1 horrible map of many. Cowshed probably won't be changed, nor will any of the Badham maps.
-
I'm not sure I would 100% die on this hill, but
Nurse is the only killer who completely ignores all of a survivors method of defence. (Pallets & Windows)
Any other killer you can name, does have to deal with at least something with regards to pallets or windows. Huntress and Nemesis can deal with pallets very easily but that doesn't mean you can't loop them with pallets. Some tiles are impossible sure, but that's the exception and not the rule I would say

Sorry about the no paragraphs I just started typing lol. And thank you for understanding. Its just so frustrating the way the community is. And its like double standards everywhere you look. Its just really frustrating more than anything.
Genuine advice
Just try to do what you wanna do, you bought the game and its your free time. Don't let other people deterr you from doing what you like. I've gotten really frustrated with this game and it's community before. Even now, I'm not satisfied with the state of the game but I still care about it.
Besides, any community that is composed of human beings will have hypocrisy in it. It's just how we are sometimes.
Personally when I play DBD, I just play how I want and ignore the endgame chat/BM in game for the most part. Like the people who are horrible in EGC aren't worth remembering. By the time I'm in the next game I'll have forgotten them and what they said LOL
-
My respect goes out to people who just play killer, maybe it's their main role most of the time but they do it without a chip on their shoulder.
There's annoying aspects of the game; perks, offerings, items, maps and so on but these players understand that it's not the whole "survivor role" that's the problem. It's certain types of survivor players who are the ones abusing that stuff.

I just think it’s a stupid thing to do. And then survivors will team up with the killer when you don’t participate.
It is stupid I completely agree
Thankfully I don't come across Pig that often these days and when I do they're from the tryharding school for pigs so memes aren't allowed. Fine by me tbh.
-
If I'm survivor, never. The joke hasn't been funny for years and I don't respect Pig. She's a character who's been ruined for me due to the people who play her.
If I'm playing Pig, occasionally - if only because I like making other people happy. I'll probably still kill them afterward though unless they're the last surv.
-
This was hard to read, not because of what you wrote but because no paragraphs.
Nevertheless - I understand how you feel like, a lot of people throw words around all the time and don't always take the time to actually yk consider what's being said by the other person. It's just wah ur just entitled or wah ur just xyz. There are genuinely some people who are like that but a lot of people aren't.
Like, tunnelling and camping isn't ""toxic"" by default. The current state of the game leaves a lot of Killer players in a state of mind where they feel like they have no choice if they want to win and there's truth to it. I defend camping/tunnelling because they are apart of the game by design. The devs know about them and do not change them, therefore the logical conclusion is that they are valid. They shouldn't be treated as taboo as they did back when the game was in its infancy, when the pool of players was smaller.
DBD is so big now you don't have to care about your opponents. You don't see this in other games. People in Overwatch or Valorant or whatever COD game is relevant don't care about your fun. They just don't.
By the way, I'm sorry about your loss - I wish you and your family all the best. DBD means a lot to many of us and it's been a good distraction for myself in bad times as well so you're not alone in that regard.

I disagree.
They have to do something about the Eruption, Call of Brine and Overcharge meta that allows killers to go into a brainless cycle of kick 2-4 gens, down someone, repeat and win strategy. Buffing Ruin and Jolt doesn't fix that problem.
Yeah people have started to catch on about what has now been dubbed "Gen locking"
As in, where you have a 3/4 gen and you just do nothing but repeatedly kick the gens over and over and injure/down anyone who gets into the deadzone. It's the perks that allow this to happen and it's not okay at all.
-
In terms of pure motivation and the extent of suffering, Doctor is the most evil of all the Killers simply because he wasn't just about killing people. His whole thing was experimentation; mind control, breaking people's minds and bodies with various methods of "treatment" and I think the worst part of it all was:
He was allowed to do it, pretty much. After what Doctor put people through, being killed as a result was probably mercy
I'm also going to mention Ghost Face, he's technically licensed but the 'character' of Danny Johnson is original. I would say he's one of the most Evil because it's not just about killing for him either. He makes a routine out of his kills, he plans and premeditates everything out and then makes a story out of it. It's why his tome is so amusing to read because he actually loses his cool and it exposes what he really is deep down; a narcissist who can't stand being made fun of.
Trickster's also in the same boat; he got his whole band killed out of jealousy and then went on to capture people, torture them and then make music out of their death screams. Like jesus, that is one messed up guy. His tome however reveals he is just not very good at the whole "not getting caught" part. You could argue Yun-Jin is just as Evil as Trickster because she knew about what he was doing and did nothing to stop him, to further her own selfish goals.
Oni and Knight I would argue are Evil simply due to their body counts and their questionable motives, but they are from a vastly different time, unlike the others who are from a somewhat modern time.
-
I'm hoping they end the year with a developer update for a PTB in jan
The game's in a weird state right now and I know personally I'm waiting to see what direction they're gonna take with the midchapter. I've stopped playing the game as of late due to its current state so I'm hopeful there'll be something substantial
-
Source:
I made it up
-
The 30s cooldown might as well not exist
Every match I play and every match I watch when Eruption is in play, by the time the person they down is hooked and they go back to the gen - the timer is basically gone. Waiting a second or two to re-apply it is a non issue.
Also the counterplay to eruption shouldn't be "hope your teammates don't go down"
That's like saying the counterplay to a SWF should be "just play better" when that's completely ignoring the problem.
-
All the balances changes in the world can't fix just how clunky he feels. It's honestly maddening they've not changed him or improved him at all since his big rework
Like out of any of the Killers I rarely play, Billy is the one who feels the worst to actually try and play. Ghost saws, colliding with the most random stuff, his power punishing you in like 3 different ways when Bubba typically only gets punished in 1 way for messing up (Either cooldown or tantrum).
The consensus seems to be you either play Flick-Billy with engravings or you just play m1lly with a mobility saw that can occasionally get you an instant down. So tedious.
-
Completed it recently, stopped playing after I got the winter cosmetics
Gonna finish part 2 of winter rift then stop playing again
Game's in a horrible state right now
-
Probably because everyone expects Bubba to camp at this point, so if they're playing like that they tend to get 1 kill and nothing else
With the right addons Clown is easily one of the best campers in the game
idk either that or they just like to BM with clown via bottle spam but that's a stretch

Survivors that enter Lockers have no method of avoiding its effects.
This means that if any Killer Power was introduced that pushed survivors into entering Lockers to avoid power effects or remove debuffs, it would be disproportionately effective compared to other Killers.
This could limit Power design of Killers as well.
Maybe it could be reworked to:
Increase Search speed
Survivors are unable to slowly exit Lockers within your Terror radius, and gain exposed if the exit quickly.
Survivors have an unlock prompt when inside a Locker in your Terror radius that allows them to spend time to exit quietly.
This already exists, we have Killers who have aspects of their power countered by Lockers
Survivors can instantly be rid of a crow swarm from Artist by jumping into a locker
Zombies from Nemesis instantly lose aggro to a survivor who gets into a locker
And it's possible to counter Bubba using lockers too, albeit it's much harder
None of these killers run Iron Maiden, I see Bubba's running it occasionally but it's just not worth it. The perk's fine as is.

ah good to know!! it is unfortunate how i found this out through playing against my killer main first, really makes me worried that i won't be able to play normally without the possibility of survivors watching my every move.
Yeah I'm quite annoyed about it because the likelyhood is we're stuck with this bug until next year, much like anyone who likes Twins is stuck with a gamebreaking bug until next year
Maybe they'll do something but knowing BHVR (Especially lately) I'm not confident

if you get 3genned its basically your fault.
Why is the killer not allowed to capitalize on your mistakes? If a killer does a pickup in a bad position you capitalize on it by blinding him and denying him his objective. Same goes with 3gen and erruption.
your argument basically says: we are playing the "team side" of an asymmetrical game. But we are not playing as a team and therefore the game must be patched that way, that even without teamwork we are able to win. Sounds pretty dumb right?
In some maps, yes you have to actively gift the Killer a 3 gen
But in a lot of maps (I'll name a few):
Dead Dawg Saloon
Suffocation Pit
Azaarovs Resting Place
Haddonfield
RPD (Both variants)
The maps have built in 3 gen scenarios that the Killer can decide to just use regardless of what survivors do. If Killers don't, on these maps they typically lose.
So, most of the time it is the survivor's fault - but if the game puts 5 generators on 1 side of suffo pit, what else is gonna happen? The survivors can't force the killer to stop patrolling one side of the map
-
I also made a bug report on this as well
Absolute disgrace that a hotfix added this

Yeah but forget using Demo's extended Undetectable addon when coming out of portals. Now Wiretrap is going to be stronger than ever for survivors or that new killer aura perk with Vittorio.
That's how i found this out
I was using Fogwise and I was seeing a cloaked wraith run around the map

Ffs. Wow. That is so beyond maddening. And just days before the Xmas Event at that and after spending money on winter cosmetics to celebrate. SMH. Between the DLC and cosmetics, I've dropped like $50 dollars over the last couple weeks to not even be able to play the game properly and I for one am NOT made out of money. JFC. Kindred is like a must for SoloQ and so much for playing a good majority of killers with Undetectable being, in so many words, wall hacked. I get DLCs come with their share of bugs but game breaking bugs 3 weeks after a chapter release is absolutely ridiculous.
This winter event is going to be an actual disaster
All of the game's stealth killers have been neutered due to a bug
Solo Q is gonna be even more painful since Kindred is bugged
It's unacceptable, tbh. Forged in Fog is Binding of Kin 2.0 with how broken it's made the game.
-
Okay so basically
If I have Kindred equipped, before the hotfix I could see the Killer's aura if anyone was hooked.
Now, you only see the aura if the person on hook has Kindred.
It's also worth noting that this hotfix broke every single undetectable killer's power and they are revealed by aura perks. I made a bug report about it just now
-
Nah
People can criticise whatever they like
You can't gatekeep criticism
-
I would argue it is more like old Object of Obsession
old Object was a perk that was insanely unfun to go against, had little counterplay for the Killer and it also rewarded SWFs way more than it did solo players.
In the same way the only counterplay to avoiding eruption is be either in a SWF on commms or be unproductive until a teammate goes down/try to be productive and just eat the penalty. It's sort of the same conundrum as Killer's having to make a decision about object users; tunnel them out ASAP or just ignore them and focus on their teammates who are potentially being fed constant info
Maybe it's a bit of a stretch but idk I think they are similar
*Also I'm not saying Eruption is OP, just in need of tweaking.
-
Not nerfed, tweaked to have counterplay
Again nobody can disprove the fact that even if you know a generator has eruption on it, there is no correct play. You have to either stop being productive while a teammate is being chased (bad) or stay on the generator and get hit with it (also bad)
-
Her kit needs a both a good buff and some reworking
That slugging playstyle shouldn't be a thing, imo.
-
Steam charts doesn't factor in Epic or Console. Most people play on Console I believe
The drop in numbers does mean that player retention is somewhat down and I mean, this isn't anything new - when BHVR releases buggy unfinished messes, (See: Binding of Kin, Forged in Fog) people stop playing until they fix it.
-
My theory is after Superior Anatomy was making Wraith and Myers vault so fast that their animations were completely bugged out, they first made changes to the vault animation itself (I might be the only one who noticed this its v subtle lol) but I'm also theorising they are standardising vaults related to powers to not be affected by vault related perks
It could just be a bug, but I think they might be intentionally making it so killers who can vault using their power or vault super quickly have a standardised time, either for bug reasons or balance reasons
-
I think the best application for Potential energy is un-doing instant regression done by killers
Think about it, let's say you charge up potential energy and later on you're working on a generator that's almost done but then it gets hit with something like pain res. You can use potential energy to quickly un-do the progress lost by it and probably finish the generator whereas you wouldn't be able to normally
-
Likely because there's nothing they can say, since they don't make those kind of decisions and outside of correcting the odd bit of misinformation on the subject, can't say much.
I feel bad, because the main BHVR represenatives who respond to the forums likely have 0 say in those decisions, but they're our only way of getting messages from the people who do. Sucks really
-
It does stack yeah
I think it's smth like
Gen regression starts at 175% and ramps up to 300% over the 30s
I think.
A youtuber called Choy has a video about it, search Choy Gen regression and you might find it if you're super curious.
-
Personally I hope that they start month locking their other seasonal collections too
I hope anything released in Spring is locked to Spring
All Fall/Halloween stuff locked to Halloween
All Summer cosmetics locked to Summer
And the best part, all of them are auric only from now on
Maybe then people might realise this kind of thing isn't okay. It's bad enough they release a buggy unfinished mess of a chapter with gamebreaking bugs that won't be fixed until next year but they also have to do stuff like this and act like it's perfectly fine.
It's ok tho the (un)funny twitter guy is larping as dwight again nothing to see here
-
If it were just the new stuff I wouldn't mind it as much, It'd still be kinda scummy but it's new content so it's understandable they want to get as many sales as possible from it
But padlocking content that's been available at any time for years all of a sudden? What's the point other than pure greed?
-
Hell yeah
I'm a joey main bc I dig his style.
I'd main HUNK but his animations are still ridiculous looking and he doesn't have his own voice.

With regards to DBD related stuff you eventually just become apathetic towards it over time

That is helpful advice but when it comes to hypocrisy, there's something in me that refuses to back down and it actually makes my body hurt a little.
Honestly I think everyone is inherently hypocritical (myself included) at times.
It just depends what we are hypocritical about, if that makes sense
Honestly not worth wasting your energy on.
-
As someone who's sometimes gotten into stupid arguments in EGC bc of this game, my best advice is to just say what you want to say and move on. Don't dwell on it or let it linger in your mind if that makes sense
Like for example in my Killer games if some dude gets mad about how i played, I either just say yeah i wanted to win or deal with it. If people get mad about stuff you do like what do they want, you to apologise for playing the game?
Also there's no point arguing with people who aren't actually open to a discussion, you can't convince people who refuse to see a different perspective on things, it's not worth the energy you invest.

No, they dont need to justify it to regulars. If you were a board-member, sure. You can easily get all you need to know from their actions.
Its not normal for businesses to share their marketing strategy like that.
I never said they NEED to my guy
I said they SHOULD because BHVR tries to put across this image that they aren't a scummy company
Besides they don't need to tell us their "marketing strat" it's obvious to all lmao. Artifical exclusivity and cringe twitter marketing. That's all it is

this does not fly mates, You have to demonstrate the scummy behaviour, not bHVR defending itself.
I worked in retail and took marketing as subject in school. bHVR is like a sugar princess in terms of scummyness imo
It's more so that I think we're owed an explanation why they are taking content that was previously available all year round and suddenly deciding to gatekeep it
I don't expect them to come out and say "lol because we want more money" but I mean they could at least try to justify it or tell us why

It's not your job to defend this practice

What perks?
Gen slowdown perks, anti healing perks or save the best for last are usually key picks for a slinger
He's a slow killer that can sometimes struggle with their first down so Corrupt can be good. Deadlock is also very good on him
-
Patience, Muscle memory/understanding the chain itself
And most important of all
Good perks
From my experience good survivors will start trying to dodge the second you start aiming, which often times means they'll lose distance and you can zone them out a bit and get closer
Also don't be afraid to force injuries by just shooting over pallets. An injured survivor is better than a healthy survivor and even if you don't commit they have a deep wound to deal with
