Sry to break everyones hope but Prestige was NEVER MEANT TO GIVE YOU A ADVANTAGE! IT NEVER WAS IN EVERY OTHER GAME SO IT WILL NOT BE IN DBD TOO.
Yes, most of us know what Prestige's purpose currently is, and we know it's nothing new.
So then what's wrong with wanting to break the mold?
Why NOT have it do some more? (Though i wouldn't want like during-Trial advantages.)
Whether they'll actually do it or not is a different topic, and you've clearly already made your bet.
Oh and PAYDAY 2 does do bonuses with Prestiging through their Infamy system, just saying.
I wouldnt mind something new agree. But you cant call it then Prestige, if BHVR and ppl would want extra rewards then this is not called a prestige.
You cant call it Spaghetti Bolongnese with meat and Tomato souce in because you want extra cheese in it, then its a Casio e Pepe (Or just with cheese how most ppl would like to call it). Hope I didnt made it too confusing.
Anyway, I dont get how ppl act like prestiging is impossible, I literally need 1 day to p3 a character. I assume the average player may need around 2-3 days, you need around 5-6million bloodpoints. This sounds much but with We will live forever or BBQ this will go very fast, just take your time.
Ppl are getting just way too lazy and start complaining about everything and this makes me sick, I am so offended by this because a once wonderfull game got destryoed and eaten up slowly by ppl like this (World of warcraft). Complaining about stuff that isnt even a huge problem but make it to a huge problem and so devs will adress it and in the end the game will get just way less enjoyable like that over time.
To make it clear, ppl ALREADY complain how "long" it takes to get all perks or your character to level 50 atleast, now think about it if Prestiges will give you some kind of advantage, everyone needs to level now way more then they already need just to gain that extra bonus, so the debate about the grind of Dbd is too much will get even worse.

But the devs themselves talked about additional prestige rewards in last years anniversary stream..
The devs talk about alot, they said they wanted to add a new early game mechanic, rebalance perks like monstrous shrine, "buff" clown, "Adjust" Legion" and many other things.

Haha well this is just a unfortunate bonus xD
Same goes to ghostface or Myers, jesus or other characters, they are less visable in P3 which is a slight advantage but tbf its not as bad as ppl consider it. Also for me it is easier to find a p3 claudy than a full green or brown claudy.

after being hit with this perk one day 7 times in a match i had to wonder is it too strong, its understandable to be blinded or stunned but why both ? even that's not bad what's terrible is you stay stunned basically the same as being hit with ds or head on , but the gen doesn't even break so you have to waste more time kicking it again. my suggestion is making it activate after the kick so you break the gen get blinded and stunned, but then can be on your way. i think its a perfectly fair and balanced trade that way
What makes it strong? Delay your kick by 5sec? Lel

I think "Hold W" is shorthand to refer to the notion that you buy more time for your team just creating as much distance as you can rather than trying to buy time by winning loops.

Its crazy. They start doing all the moonwalking ######### and hiding red stain to swing at pallet and hope to hit you then see you way off in the distance and they don't like it xD. So now they complain that survivors are just holding W. Its called getting outplayed. Get use to it and deal with it
You are right then I got outplayed. But imagine you run towards a survivor on a gen and the second he also sees or hears your TR he runs straight away from you, you need around 30-40sec until the survivor reaches the edge of the map, so ofc you will hit him and then he runs straight at the other direction of the map and well you need another 20-30 sec to reach him and hit him.
Now what is the interaction which is more fun? Holding W or mindgaming and getting outplayed or outplaying.

Where are they to run to? Where else out, other than the hatch and gates. Until then, they're still in the pen and I have enough patience to deal with that.
As for what I do: I play the game. Afterall, I still get 4ks and 3ks. I lose some, but that's just part and parcel of the game. I don't blame it on a button.
I agree with you but thats not the point. My point is not to gain even more 4ks our of the game.
Here a example: When Legion got released ppl complained about the Killer beeing to "boring" and has no counterplay and requires no skill to down survivors. Ppl started crying enough until the devs gave up and gutted that Killer.
Legion was NEVER op or strong, neither Legion didnt had counterplay... they had infact counterplay but ppl just didnt wanted to adept or in other words it was easier to change the Killer than the mindset of the majority of the community.
Here we have the exact same situation only it is even worse. Holdinw W requires no skill and is very boring to play against, and also it is way too efficient. So instead of convincing thousands of players to not do that becuase more and more ppl begin to realize it and do that too, just change something about it so ppl cant even do that anymore that efficient.

For the health and fun of the game, it needs to be addressed. You can hold w and waste 48 seconds of a killers time without even dropping a pallet or vaulting a window. Factor in picking up the survivor, finding a hook, hooking them, and you just lost 3 gens.
This kind of gameplay is boring for both sides. Survivors should buy time for generators by winning loops and mindgames against the killer. This is more fun for both sides.
Exactly

@KerJuice said:
This can’t seriously be a problem. Cmon now. Are you playing Hag?? Maps have been shrunken down already. There is bloodlust. If you’re following someone that long and can’t catch up, you should at least run into someone on a gen. And if not, that means you’re probably being purposely herded into a killer deadzone, AWAY from gens that need to be done. Either way, break off chase if it’s too long. Be wary of who has Sprint Burst/Lithe/Balanced.
Idk what you are talking about, the maps never got reduced by size. And yes if you hold W against a not mobile Killer you will waste alot of his time.
Here a very simple experiment for you:
Try to make a kill your friends lobby with someone. You guys meet at Haddonfield long fences or Gas Heaven car walls (Or any other kind of very big building or structure) and your friend as survivor will obv just run away from you and you as a normal M1 Killer try to catch up while a timer is on.
Spoiler
It will take for you longer then 1-2min to catch up for just 1 hit.
Now double it cuz 2 health states.

No i understand what youre saying. You dont have to explain it, im saying this is the counter to these killers. This is how you beat them. Trying to loop nemesis/ph is silly because they counter looping hard. Youre asking the survivors to throw the game otherwise. This is the design of the killer.
In all cases, looping or not looping, the problem isnt the counter. Its the match speeds. Sure, holding w is boring, but if the matches werent so short youd have time to chase them.
Try running M/A and Tinkerer on him, should help if its that much of a problem for you
Well I guess this is a other approuch to the problem so I get what you say.
I am already running M/A on many Killers but this doesnt fix the problem at all, neither perks shouldnt be there to fix a problem in the game at all.

@Edgars_Raven said:

Yeah its a counter to a specific kind of killer. Ph is the same. Not sure what to tell you, if you choose to play a certain kind of killer its hard to get angry with the survivors for using the best means to counter it. Its like a huntress main getting mad at survivors for ducking and breaking LOS 🤷♂️
Well but ducking and breaking LOS requires effort and skill, it is also kind of fun and it is your fault if you miss because of that, in that term just get bettter. The diferrence is you are not even getting to use your ability as these kind of Killers without the survivors using anything in return for it.
If I play Oni and I miss my dash hit then I am just well ######### I missed or the survivor just made a really good spin, it is either from both sides a nice satisfaction, you cant tell me that you dont get happy when you outplay the Killer with a nice spin?
Now think of just holding w...

I hear you, Im just saying the issue isnt holding W. If its a problem for nemmy you can cover that weakness with perks. My point is looping ir holding w, doesnt matter. The problem is match speeds
I would rather have fast matches with much real chases than long W matches. Its not only Nemesis who suffers from that btw
-

First you whine about looping, now it’s holding W
lf they can’t loop and they can’t hold W (these being the only options they have in the game)
what should they do? And people say survivors are entitled…………………
When did I ever complain about looping lol?
-
@Sluzzy said:
Survivors have no ways to hide. Maps are already way too small and most loops have been made unsafe. Because pallets are sooooo severely limited, extending the chase is the only option. Killers don't need it any easier with smaller maps. Killers like Blight are too oppressive on even the largest maps.
Killers need a nerf.
I was never mentioning that Blight need a buff or smaller maps. Killers like Blight, Nurse, Spirit or even Oni are totally fine even on huge maps like Red forest. I was talking about Killers that dont have the mobility and has to run just with W.
And the majority of Maps are big maps, we just have about 8 small maps out of 36 maps.
-
@Edgars_Raven said:
You cant yell at survivors for looping then yell at them for playing safe. The problem isnt the survivors, or gens, its that the game has no mandatory secondary objectives. This has always been the issue. Bhvr keeps trying to cover this by adding other stuff in like hex totems, chests, totems, archive challanges etc etc
Ppl who complained about looping are probably Killers who dont even play Killer at a average skill level. I would never compain about looping, infact I would love to get that. I had games where I just wanted to play Nemesis and all 4 of the ppl where just running and not even trying to loop me cuz ofc Nemesis has a strong anti Loop ability, which I agree with but we ended up having a 8min match with just about 3-4 pallets dropped without any real mindgame or other interaction.
-
@Orion said:
It was always a problem. The solution would probably be to make killers less noticeable (smaller TRs, crank up the fog for survivors, nerf perks like Premonition and Spine Chill, stuff like that), so that survivors don't have as much of a warning about the killer's movements.
Just to put this in numbers: with a 32-meter TR and a 4.6 m/s killer, if a survivor (without Exhaustion perks) starts running in a straight line when the killer is 30 meters away, the killer will take a maximum of 50 seconds (no Bloodlust, no movement speed buffs) to reach that survivor the first time.
The killer can, of course, just leave that survivor, but then the survivor goes right back on their gen. And if everyone else does that, the killer is screwed. There's just not enough time to chase 4 survivors for 50 seconds 12 times (that's 10 minutes) just to get the first hit.
I agree with you, you got a good point there and explained it very well! Maybe not the nerf of the perks since, how do you want to nerf them even? But a smaller base TR could also help but therefore the maps need also more vision blocks imp. Maps like Wreckers yard, Shelter Woods etc are WAY too open, it is so easy to find survivors there imo.

I don't think maps need to be smaller, some maps are actually smaller than what the wiki shows (or at least the actual usable area of the map, most maps have giant dead zones that are there for no reason since no survivor will actually go there) look at the example below, supposedly 144 square tiles, but how much will it shrink if we take away all the dead zones? (and that was not the only edge of the map that was a giant dead zone) and that's not even the smallest map, imagine dead dawg salon if we took away all the edges of the map that are basically there for no reason other than be a dead zone with no pallets or anything.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GBA7JIFG7II3/20210609235848-1.jpg
There are more big maps than small maps in dbd, the chances are very low to get these maps and yes IF you get the smaller maps than there is no reason to complain. But imagine you want to play a relaxed game of Pig and you get Red fores... well have fun.

@Jasix said:
Holding W is no more a problem than camping/tunneling.
As a killer I rarely run into survivors who just hold W - and when I do it doesn't deter me really. There are ways to counter W just like there are ways to counter camping as a survivor. It's way easier for 1 killer to counter W than it is for one survivor to counter camping/tunneling. Both are "valid" tactics - not ones I would use, but hey - to each their own I guess.
Like most things on these forums - I think some people are just blowing the topic out of proportion in an attempt to stir up things.
There is no counter to holding w. The only counter is the map itsself and that is RNG depended unless you use every single game a map offering which is very unlikely. Also the reason why it is a problem is because it wastes a massive amount of time of a normal Killer that doesnt has a good movementspeed ability without even using recourses like Pallets.

@Wiggles_Diggles said:
Well...what else are they supposed to do, stand still.
Map size is the thing that needs to be adjusted most and then maybe throw in some super unsafe pallets where some dead zones are. Again are survivors just supposed to stand still?
You know there are Pallets and windows that survivors can interact with, some very kind devs put them in for a purpose :)

Whatever your justification, the way I applied your logic works.
One side refuses to deal with a pretty basic game mechanic, so that mechanic must get nerfed, to the other side's disadvantage. That's your logic with NOED.
So killers should refuse to break pallets to have them break themselves, they should refuse to aim so aiming is made easier, and so on.
yes exactly, sadly this is not just my logic, look at old Legion :)

If you're not saying NOED is being abused, then why draw a parallel with something that was nerfed because it was being abused as justification for why NOED should be nerfed? Seems weird to me.
Anyway, NOED has been nerfed multiple times. It became the first Hex that can be prevented from being activated altogether, which is just insane. All survivors have to do is hold M1 for a few seconds and they even get 1000 BP for their "effort".
I drew a paralllel to it cuz these mentioned things also wherent completly op or busted but still annoying at a certain degree and got changed in a very healthy way.
You are right noed got nerfed back then, so what? Same as Mori, it got nerfed twice, same as Pallets with vacuum, there are many things that need more then just 1 change. Thats the circle of life my friend, everything can change constantly.

@Huff said:

If the killer has NOED, active, then there was probably enough time to do totems, as the survivors would have had to complete all generators.
Anyway, probably won't be getting a response from me. As fun as it is discussing things with actual cool people, being under the eye of such tyrannical authority isn't my cup of tea. So no response from me probably, I'm out while my account is still intact lol

By your logic, if some Deathslinger players don't want to aim at survivors, he should be buffed to automatically aim at survivors and have perfect accuracy.
No that logic is applied already to many other things like DS. Ppl abused the hell out of DS and got free gen progress. So the nerf came in and now ppl are forced to use DS how it is supposed to be. Same goes for God windows, they werent that OP if just 1 survivors used it, but ppl started to realize how strong it can be so everyone ran all the time to it to abuse it, thats why devs nerfed them and now ppl cant abuse them.
Not saying that noed is beeing abused but it is not getting used as a help for "new" killers, it is used to get some ez kills without effort for players that have hundreds of hours.

What will Cope De Grace save me?
First. let me list you the Good..
"Increased Lunge up to 60%"
...Thats it. That's ALL this perk does.
Bad sides about this perk
You can only get this perk to work IF survivors do gens.
Can waste a token accidentally if you're mid lunge while a gen pops.
You only get 5 tokens. I.E Which you can only get if THEY do Gens.
It got Nerfed for ZERO reason,
Half the time. the Extra lunge isn't needed to hit said survivor,
I can list waaay more with how bad this perk is..
Idk what kind of games you have where survivors dont do gens but in that case you dont even need any perks since there is no game progression for them. Secondly, a bigger lunge means alot, on Killers like Wraith, Oni, Myers, Ghostface or Plague this perk can carry you pretty hard. I am too lazy to explain you how that perk works since you seem the type of guy that just watches a quick 10min guide and equipes every perk that video tells you without even questioning it. sry

4 survivors = 16 perks.
Multiple same instances of Ds / Unbreakable = 8. 2 for each survivor.
Yer clearly in the wrong for saying that survivor doesn't have that Heavy of a impact with second chance,
Cope De Grace is FAAAAR from even close.
It belongs in a Meme tier. that is all,
I said it is in COMPARISON not that impactful AS FOR KILLERS jeez mind if you maybe read more carefully?
And Cope de Grace is a pretty decent perk, only because perks that are not busted or meta doesnt mean they are useless, maybe open up your mind abit.

You must have never seen/experienced a match where survivors break all 2 or 3 hex totems you have within the first 2 minutes of a match, and also end up finding out that they have 0 hex hunting perks.
Also, if people just started realizing totem hunting actually has value to it, and maybe started bringing totem hunting perks more regularly, hex perks would be even less of a threat. Can't tell you how many times I have gotten all of the totems broken and escaped. Not as many, but still some, games were even against a killer that had NOED and I denied them their perk. Yeah, it might take some extra time, but gens can fly in mere minutes if the killer isn't pressuring anyway.
I agree with you, typicly you can do totems here and there. And in a game where the Killer is not pressuring then you can do the totems and wont need to worry. But there are some games where the Killer has so much pressure where you cant do totems meanwhile. Cuz there is always someone on a hook, you are getting chased, etc etc. There are some games where you dont have simply time to do totems in the midgame. In a game where the Killer is not having much pressure there I wouldnt complain about noed, I complain however about the moment when a spirit with stridor has so much pressure, every time atleast 1 survivor on the hook and chasing someone and THEN you also get the noed once you managed somehow with a blessing of jesus to finish the gens with alot of hard work and sacrifices. That is the moment when I say, okey noed is completly bullshit.

Oh I actually didnt saw your response, was my bad sry about that. Kinda hard to keep track of all answers beeing 95% of it just memes or triggered killer mains. You are right even though I think noed is still abit stronger then exhaustion perks imo.
