  • I've toyed around with how to rework these so they're not so rng (clutch or useless).

-One is your idea but i mentioned the problem with that.

-Another is improve the totem spawns where they're all in good spots (several of them)

-Move totems spawns on a regular basis (like each time there's a new update or killer).

-Get rid of hexs entirely and slightly nerf them so you have them all game like a regular perk (example: ruin 100% instead of 200% but not a hex)

-Some sort of timer like no hexs can be cleansed until 2 gens are done or some other prerequisite.

Had other ideas can't think of them atm.

  • Evil Dead was more comedy than horror (except the 1st one).

  • This is what the 4v1 Resident Evil Resistance does called "map presets". What happens is (at least with this game) eventually most killers will decide the best/most hidden spots on each map, it will then be meta. Then survivors will beeline to those locations and memorize them.

  • I love Vommy Mommy, i think she's hilarious.

If we're being honest here, many of the survs/squads are not trying to win the game with boil over builds, because they are not effective in terms of winning the game. Like, at all. Any time you spend slugged is time you're not working on an objective.

I don't tunnel, but that is exceedingly effective in nearly all scenarios if you are trying to win. Camping is can be very effective in many circumstances (altruistic survs).

Bringing boil over, flip-flop, etc. to a match isn't a sign you're trying to win, it's a clear indication your goal for that game is to f with the killer.

Boil over would be effective but killers prefer to slug, thats the killers choice. Using boil over not to get hooked is called survival its an actually category for bp.

  • I mentioned I was in soloq, again if you're having problems with swfs doing this, run agitation & iron grasp ez, just like run ds, bt, & unbreakable if you're not having fun being tunneled, camped, slugged, as survivor, lol.

I watched a recent Spookyloopz video where he ran agi, iron grasp, mad grit and stb4l and got a 4k against hackers using boil over, so you killers can do it have faith,

As a side note after playing 20+ matches with boil over, flip flop, unbreakable and power struggle, I've had only one other soloq survivor run boil over, not seeing it much.

  • So now killers are getting a taste of their own medicine and dont like it surprise surprise. I've ran boil over and while I may wiggle off a few times, I usually get slugged to death. And in most matches with it I don't escape nor does my team (soloq). But a few times my team has got out because the killer was new/naive/dumb or whatever the reason and kept picking me up in a spot they failed at previously.

Also as i said awhile back dont like boil over run iron grasp and/or agitation, this is part of the killer getting a taste of his own medicine (don't like being tunneled run ds etc) Another part is being bored to death, with slugging, camping and tunneling being used against the killer's fun. You tunnel this boil over person be prepared for them to wiggle off. You don't camp them while they're slugged they may use unbreakable/no mither or get picked up. You camp the slug, boring for killer, sucks right?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/307243/why-isnt-pinhead-disabled

Sigh. I hate to say it, but this is a player problem here, not a Pinhead problem.

    1. Wait for chain spawn. Dodge chain spawn. Solve box. It's...really easy.
    2. That's a solo queue problem, and the solos I play against mostly seem to do totally fine against him. Against SWFs, he may as well not have a power. This game isn't balanced around solo queue, and BHVR actually expect to buff killers (implied from the QnA) once they give solos their new icons.
    3. This is a legit problem, but applies to a number of things in the game.

People don't have 'fun' playing against him because he requires them to exercise a bit of coordination and play slightly differently. Ditto Demo, ditto Artist, ditto Hag which are - surprise surprise - the ones that people seem to DC against constantly.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but when survivors say 'x isn't fun' what they mean is 'I can't just play how I usually play and still win'.

Cenobite is fine. He honestly needs a buff, if anything.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773758#Comment_2773758

There is an implication. When survivors say 'x isn't fun' what they usually mean is 'nerf x because I don't like playing against it'.

There are tons of things that are unfun for killers to play against and many have been in the game for years.

Again disingenuous, maybe ill just take out fun to play against as some are reading way too in to that. He is BROKEN because a patch or 2 ago it said they fixed the chains attacking when doing the box they didnt.

  • @jesterkind said:

Only one of those is actually a case of him being broken, but I'd argue that since it kind of ends up being worse for him for someone to not be able to solve the box, it's not a killswitch sort of situation.

He wants people solving the box, either so he can interrupt them or so that the chain hunt will eventually start affecting the other three players again. Holding on to the box forever - which is the only thing you can do if you can't solve it - is actually the worst case scenario for him. This isn't like the unsnuffable totem spots, or CoH literally crashing the game, it's more like the bug that Pig's iridescent had; it made the game harder for the killer so it wasn't abusable.

I used to just hold onto the box, but i also play killer and know that would make me salty. So i stopped doing that unless my soloq team is getting stomped, but even when i do hold the box gens still don't get done fast enough in most cases lol. I also know to do the box when i know hes busy that can be hit or missed depending on his addons, how close he is to a hook, etc

  • @Aurelle said:

Just because he's unfun to go against doesn't make him broken.

Yawn, that's not all i said, doesn't help to be disingenuous.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

I agree that Pinhead is not fun to play against. And the main reason why he is popular right now will be the voicelines, many players wanted them back.

However, there is no point to disable Pinhead since he is working as intended.

    2) Is nothing that can be changed right now. Pinhead is a SoloQ-Stomper.

    3) Is unfortunate and should be fixed by BHVR at some point.

And 1)... Chains Spawn in waves of 3. So once 3 Chains spawned, you should start doing the Box. There will be enough to to solve it that way.

I'm glad there's a rational balanced opinion here. Good to know about chains in 3 never thought about that.

  • @SunsetSherbet said:

because your team being bad and unable to coordinate does not make a character literally broken.

My team? it's soloq, there's no in game chat, what do i use emotes. Either nobody goes for box or 2+ survivors go for box.

So the fact that a good player in solo can still die means to you that solo q sucks? So then, based on that am I to understand that you feel the only "good" survivor experience would be one where you never fall?

nope. A good soloq survivor experience to me is survivors doing gens, not hook humping, not immersing most of the time, taking hits when needed if they can, not sandbagging. Killer not tunneling, slugging or camping too much. If only half of those conditions are met even it's fine. Thats it. But yeah I know you're just baiting me, so I'm done have a good one.

  • No, it's a poo train most of the time, it's not 50-50. Of course if you make the standard survivor a 5 year vet things change, but still they go down in soloq, so points stands soloq stills sucks even with one good survivor, and camping, tunnelling etc vs soloq makes it even more unbearable & pathetic.

  • If you're a killer main, don't worry (no offense to soloq survivors intended I am one) most of us are stupid, some of these people are beyond help they just need experience.

4 days. You had 4 days and came up with this

"NUMEROUS audio and visual clues? lol. So basically play in a 4man swf with meta perks on comms or not have fun."

Which isn't even remotely what I said. I have plenty of fun as survivor, and am always solo. I rarely run meta (aside from BT).

Again, there are numerous audio and visual cues in the game itself. None of them require a headset or the ability to chat with your team. I mean hell, there's literally only 1 killer who has the ability to become invisible, and even then you can still spot him and there's a delay before he can hit you after uncloaking.

Maybe watch some Ohm or something, as he also always plays survivor solo and is rather good at noting where the killer is and what their next move is likely to be based solely on the information the game provides. (Which again, is quite a bit of info)

I didnt have 4 days, I have other stuff to do. I didnt see your reply until today and immediately posted after i read it. I havent been sitting around for 4 days to reply to some random person on a bhvr forum.

If a killer wants you dead you're dead for the most part. I've ran 5 gens more than once, i dont use spine chill or premonition im by no means a noob but by no means a god tier survivor either. I have watched Ohmwrecker, if you just watch any streamers videos they pick the ones that make them look good most of the time, you watch any 5 year vet streamer (streaming live) whos a god survivor they go down a lot still.

Ok first of all yes its still viable even if the devs don't want to do anything about it which they have but it backfired.

And now thanks to using perks as a bandaid fix instead of fixing the maps and overall game balance it will continue to stay that way.

And on the topic of saying swf does what they do because of killers shows one of two things

    A.you are one sided

    B. Delusionally ignorant

Because saying that what swf does because of killer just as bad if not worse than saying killer does mainly do to the existence of comms but there are a couple of things you seeming decided to omit.

1.most killer perks and base kit has been nerfed or flat out gutted because of what survivors deemed "is not fun" even stuff like noed still has both a risk and reward element

    2. Almost all survivor meta perks have not been nerfed or even the ones that have the "nerf" in question is an absolute joke.

As for now long as the devs keep being survivor biased it will say in a predicament of"OP survivor perks VS Killer tactics"

Also accusing people of "Oh they just want a 4k" doesn't help rationalize your argument either just to let you know

I'm one sided or i just happen to get out of a match where i was tunneled by a huntress in soloq with teammates who didnt have bt, when I typed that. If i was playing killer and BS happened I would of been bitching about suvivors.

They just want a 4k i said that because i use to run into killers who farmed or let 1 person go, i dont really anymore. You could say cause survivors blah blah but as killer I still let people go and still farm occasionally, I usually dont want a 4k, 2k is fine by me

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2770891#Comment_2770891

Except holding w is easier,so everyone can do it,and just the fact the you can "abuse" loop tiles already proves the one sided sight this game has.

Also the majority of killers are basic m1,no insta down,no mobility,no range attack,nothing...

Yeah i play both sides, so yah abuse loops like i said, but killers can abuse camping, tunneling, slugging. It's not 1 sided. If it's a 4man swf on comms yeah its survivor sided, if its soloq its killer sided. Maps imo tend to be survivor sided, luckily most survivors dont know how to loop.

  • @Travis_Bateman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2770858#Comment_2770858

Its funny you know,Camping/Tunneling/Slugging is skillless and "low effort - high reward" according to some, but they never, ever, talk about Predropping or holding Shift - W (also skillless but also got a low effort and high reward rate).

I prefer a survivor that holds w, easier to deal with than a survivor who knows how to abuse strong loops.

  • Don't remove great skill checks, you can counter it with iron grasp or agitation just like survivors are expected to run bt, ds, unbreakable to counter killer bs.

  • Sounds like the survivor equivalent of dms is op now.

  • viable? more like the devs cant fix it easily too many variables so they let it happen and in some cases say it's viable. Guess what 4man swf on comms with meta perks, blame that on camping, tunneling and slugging. Most survivors dont want to run the same 4 perks over and over, but you know must get the 4k even if it involves taking advantage of an exploit that wasn't intended/thought out and cant be fixed easily.

And you know it's an exploit as they have TRIED to fix it with BT, DS etc. These perks exist because they couldnt fix it properly.

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2763284#Comment_2763284

You don't have to, it's just the easy way, if you don't want to pay attention to the numerous audio and visual cues the game and your teammates can give. Also apparently people don't know how to do hook jumping jacks when they're being camped now, but that's a skill issue.

Yeah i do hook jumping jacks not a skill issue, lol. That's like say if you don't know about something some eclectic group of people know about it's a skill issue. There's no skill involved to tapping a button over and over, either you know thats a sign for camping or you don't. Plus people do these jumping jacks when they're not being camped because they're bored on hook.

NUMEROUS audio and visual clues? lol. So basically play in a 4man swf with meta perks on comms or not have fun. But be warned if you do that killers will cry about it, they want that ez broken mmr soloq win. So good job perpetuating the sweaty 4man on comms meta perk mindset.

  • Never was a fan of having to run a perk to counter bad game design.

  • I think killer MMR would work if there were more killers. Now survivor MMR (cough soloq) is so broken that MMR doesnt even do anything, it's a catch-22 situation.

  • I agree but to be the contrarian, survivors while not as unique as killer have different blending differences like Claudette vs everybody else basically, pain and breathing levels Bill vs Ace, different heights male vs female survivors. Again with blending some outfits only on certain characters blend better than others, but as one gets better at running the killer, blending isn't that big of a deal. I think that's it though.

  • @DocFabron said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/306057/campers-op-perks-and-killer

I... I don't get what you're saying. What OP perks? As for camping, you can get all 5 gens done in the time it takes for somebody to be caught, picked up, hooked, and camped. So punish the Killer yourself by giving him a 1 hook/1 kill.

I hear this a lot, but guess what soloq can't hear you they're not on comms.

  • idk how many of you know about this but if you equip the pride charm on Trickster you will get amazing camping and tunneling abilities lmao.

  • @Junylar said:

If anyone had any doubts, it shows perfectly which side the devs take in this "us vs them" argument. NOED has been the most unfair and hated perk in the game, turning occasional 0k into 2k, 1k into 3k, and 2k into 4k with no extra effort required. CoH wasn't that strong in the first place, if we don't touch the problematic subject of SWF, and they nerf it after a couple of months.

I guess "just to the bones" argument indeed works in only one direction, it's a title of some sort.

The devs may not be killer sided, but this forum certainly is lmao

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Do people still not know how to play against Pinhead?

It's more about the box and not being on comms, the box will literally snowball a game. Soloq, 2 people go for box or no one goes for box, either way not efficient.

  • @KolbyKolbyKolby said:

Do you have tier 3 of WGLF? If you have yellow or green, you can only get 2 or 3 stacks respectively. Maybe you were full up?

    nah it's tier 3 purple

  • Weird I've literally seen countless times someone I unhook with bt get hit instantly and would immediately get a stack and unsafe unhook. I was around when BT was 15 seconds and didnt trigger if out of killer tr. oh well prolly wont happen again.

  • I've been farming as killer half the time for event, equipped bbq, distressing, thrill of the hunt and the bloodlust bp one (forgot name), then I turn off crossplay and tell the survivors in lobby I'm farming. only once in the entire time i've played (devotion 8) did somebody give me a hard time for wanting to farm, so that's good.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2753587#Comment_2753587

If dead hard is a third health state, would you consider bamboozle a -1 health state? Since it shortens a loop.

Or blood favor, spirit fury, crowd control, all exposed perks, etc lol

  • You're not wrong. I've only played survivor soloq since event started and 95% of the games are tunneling camping killers. Mainly tunneling and slugging actually. Normally this would happen like 50% of the time or less for me. So now I'm about to do killer, if it's just as bad as killer, I'm going to farm to try and calm this sh*t down a bit.

Unironically skill issue, get good. If you got stomped, you are supposed to have a tiny chance of escape. That is literally the point. Hatch and keys are no longer busted.

In the words of a BDSM-loving sex demon, β€œNo tears, please. It’s a waste of good suffering.”

It's amazing how many people forget about soloq, what is get good? Run the killer most of the match, but your teammates don't do gens or leave you to die on 1st hook. Also what about get good if the killer is getting stomped all match then gets a 4k with noed? lol just like a killer will say but there's a counter (which is usually 4 man swf on comms running meta perks), there's a counter to hatch, close it you're faster than everybody else especially with noed.

  • I think keys need some love since they're useless for hatch basically. Hatch challenges should be changed to boon challenges. Also maybe make when there's one survivor left, hatch doesnt spawn until killer finds you, then you have to run him for 30 seconds then hatch spawns in front of your face or something idk just thinking of different scenarios.

  • Well it doesn't work very good. Im in soloq and get it like once a day (i play several hours). Just run through them all (traps) dont unhook and let the others unhook. I just find it funny cause last i knew she was a top tier killer. I used to play as her and get 3 gens a lot, idk why.

  • From my experience the TTVs that you actually have to worry about dont play with others hardly ever, except other streamers occasionally. The ones you have to worry about are the well known TTVs that play soloq and will loop the crap out of you. The TTVs that are most common just have random people from their chat with them and arent even on comms.

  • Dragon's Grip has entered the chat JK yeah that perks sucks lol

  • Overcome is great with this build: Overcome, Lucky break, Quick & quiet, Inner healing.

Unless you get injured constantly, you only need to cleanse one or 2 totems, so 3 left for boon meta.

So idea is cleanse totem at start of match asap. Do gens etc. When killers hits you run to nearest locker possible that is out of LOS and just fast enter it (quick and quiet). Killers totally lose you and you heal. Works best on inside maps, not as good on maps with minimal LOS blockers. You can get value from lucky break 3 or 4 times potentially, more than other builds.

  • SWFs also make it fun for the soloq survivor. If you're very lucky they'll unhook you end game or take aggro when you're being tunnelled all game, but usually will sandbag or leave you to die to make sure their buddies get out.
