I dunno if I quite agree with that rather extreme interpretation, but I can't quite put my finger on why their announcement rubs me the wrong way.
I think his lore wouldn't want to him to come out in such a dramatic fashion. I would think he would'nt advertise what he does very openly, unless confronted about it most likely in a pub. Then it would account to "why yes i am gay" smack. I doubt we;'d see David dressing as ugly bearded drag queen on twitch or riding a unicorn float in the Sydney mardi gra.
For me i don't mind what people do in their bedrooms as long as its consensual.
My issue with this is if i tunnel that shirtless David out of the game, (because i hate shirtless inequality) am i going to be branded something.

Just for reference this update is 22 GB and takes maybe half an hour.
That depends on what country you're in.
For me in Australia off peak it's nearly an hour. Then the install, then the generic replacing corrupted files that happens with every dbd patch.
-
Wont this just encourage hate on twitch?
i.e Bubba masks.
-
Why would they kill switch it, they only do that when it benefits killers.
Totems that can't be cleansed prevent the game being played, but not being able to pick up a surv is fine.

I would assume everything that kills does. A kill is a kill, no matter how it’s achieved.
A Hatch doesn't count towards escape mmr though.
-
Run Starstruck more.
Or if it’s a on going thing then slug and camp.
Its a valid strategy to deny a killer hooks, but it’s equally valid to slug and watch them bleed to death.

Just because you don't have more than 1 friend that plays this game doesn't mean everyone doesn't.
I don’t have any friends in dbd.
I play in Oceania which has a lower pool of players.
im also a killer main and don’t need friends only victims.
When I play surv I play solo.
If you think having full teams versing pugs is fair then 90% of pvp games will disagree with you.

Bill deserves the skins.

Yes punish people that don’t want to play solo. Ok
And punish killers who play solo, because you want to play with your friends.

Queue times will sky rocket since people at least duoing up are about if not more common than solos.
Which is why this will never get implemented
Then make it duo only, no more 4 mans.

No one is going to opt to play against swf.
This means people that play with their friends will just stop playing, because they won't be able to find a match.
The game would die.
Think of why killers don't like swfs.
Then think of a way to make it fairer for both parties.
-
I think graphics are the least of the game's issues.
And judging by the comments made on tranistioning it, i'd think they would just leave it for a full reboot, i.e DBD 2
-
Not a pro surv at all, but i've found Sb has actually helped me play better.
Im not running everywhere leaving marks all over, and actually alot of killers seem to just drop when they see a sb used.
Where as if i see d.h used as a killer, i just go well now you're are going to be hooked.
-
I think the curret meta, which is gen related causes this.
Gens regression is either very slow or gens are to far apart to for them to be reliably slowed, therefore Killers need to have decent mobility to counter it.
Therefore we have the rise of Nurse and Blight, and with their high mobility requires survs to use Dead hard.
Until there is some base changes to the game in the form of how gens are repaired and regressed, the most rewarding/value a killer can get is remove survs from the game, ergo, DH,DS, Corrupt.
And CoH has only made this worse, why let survs run off and get endless free heals when you can kill them instead.
TLDR until gen regression exists, tunneling survs will be the best way to win a game.

They work on the matchmaking they just can't snap a finger and have the perfect solution. And the grades are hidden now because they made things confusing especially for new players because like you say they had nothing to do with matchmaking and you can get iri even if you are a low grade player but new people often thought they must be some hyper killer because they are iri
So inorder to unconfuse it they could show mmr instead, but they wont, the complaints about the system being busted would be horrendous
-
When i see them in my lobby as a killer i do watch them. So i can snipe. They want advantages of swfs and coms then are stupid enough to share it, sure ill use it.
Otherwise no.

There are for sure many reasons why not to show. My personal theory is that it would highlight that matchmaking isn't working so good atm and that quick qs get over everything and that it would show that you can hit a wall playing only your Favorit killer if his name isn't blight or nurse
Of course it is, we wont get complaints over mmr if we dont show what anyones mmr is, it's just a way of hiding an issue for them.
-
Write up a list of what we're working on with time frames.
Balancing x perk 5/22
Creating new killer 11/22
Editing x map 6/22- 12/22
adding new tome 7-22
I'm sick of soon, Im sick of the comminuty sharing their concerns at Q and A and the most voted up concerns get ignored, yet something like hiding a crappy icon takes priority.
We got fed its one of our most requested things to remove grade icons, but yet people asked for alot more fixes that would have gotten more requests that got ignored.

@InvadeGames said:
ive never cared about grades. the weird obsession people have with them is odd.
Well it used to be used to show how "good" you are, now its free bp, so it's at least some incentive to rank for some players.
-
When you start a game you check a gen for ruin, and jump into a locker to check for iron.
Iron is really only useful for reloading killers, and Bbq is mandatory for most due to bp farming, i personally use it for info as a Huntress main.
I'd think 70+% of killers dont use iron at all, but the counter to it is to avoid lockers. If you know a killer has iron and you go into lockers, then you don't need to ask for a nerf, you need to go look in the mirror and think about your life.
-
Move to a hook?
-
Make your own fun.
I've just adapted, all the tbagging, macro clicking, and locker spam has just turned me into more of a bad word.
Just treat all survivors the same, as sacrifices for the entity. Do your job, kill them all, no matter how.
-
@Aneurysm said:
PS4 is in an unacceptable state, with you on that.
As for grades it makes having discussions about matchmaking way more difficult because people just don't get it.
DBD player: "This matchmaking makes no sense. I'm in bronze, why am I being matched with golds?"
BHVR or another player: "Grades aren't used for matchmaking. You don't see the number used for matchmaking but it isn't related to grades at all"
DBD player: "Okay but that doesn't explain why I'm being put against gold players when I'm only a bronze"
^^ that is pretty much how these discussions on here go
Then show your mmr instead? No confusion there.
-
It's great for reloading Killers.
But the abuse it can get by survivors spamming lockers is just crap.
They need to introduce a cooldown on survs jumping in and out just to spam screams.

The QoL improvements might be better for existing players.
But "new stuff" patches make money.
They have to balance between them, for dbd to be profitable long-term it has to make money, it's not a subscription service, so once you've bought the game you can choose not to pay any more and still receive a service. Therefore they make no money, unless you buy something "new"
I've ticked over 700 hours or play time, and i've probably spent $40 aussie dollars on dbd. Pretty good value for money.
-
Can't complain about your mmr or grade if you can't see it.
-
Until the developers decide on what metric they want to balance the game on it wil never happen.
top level mmr - low level, swf vs solo.
There can never be any balance.

Ew. I think I would have more fun smashing my junk with a hammer than playing solo survivor. If you play 5 games of solo, I want to say at LEAST one will have the obligatory DC/suicide on hook. If not more, and that's before the solo Q potato throws.
Getting a good team is an anomaly. If you are experienced at the game and playing solo, killer is 100% the way to go unless you enjoy losing in games that are entirely out of your control, and often.
Im a killer main, so when i play surv and die early etc, it has no consequence.

And those already on console? Would you rebuy the game and dlc's, cosmetics, and regrind from scratch? Thousands of hours reset? We're neatly stuck and boxed in...
I sympathise completely but yeah i would.
I bought red dead on steam when i could, so all up with a ps4 red dead x2 i spent $600 aussie dollars for one game, Now my ps4 is a dust collecting dvd player.
-
Survivor.
Just play solo, don't go for anything risky, do gens, do bones, unhook if its safe then leave.
To many survivors try to be heroes and don't realize not everyone can be saved.
Edit: Killer is very hard to start with, Killers are very perk reliant, and many of the must have perks are locked behind a paywall.
-
Just stick with pc.
I bought a ps4 and Red dead redemption 2, just because it was launched as console only, a year or so later it was ported to pc.
To say games are going to be console only is just a lie. Always go pc.
-
-
It should be choose rather than choice, not being clever, just telling you as English isn't your first language.
but on question, Bill and Anna.
-
The worst experiences i geneally find is unhooking with a killer nearby and no B/T. You can't control that and it just generally results in your own death.

I love that the grades are hidden! It was really tiring seeing the, "I'm an ash 4 being matched with red ranks, how is this fair matchmaking?" posts. If they stay hidden like this, it'll prevent any future confusion and maybe people will focus more on the game / match than the grades.
At first when the ranks were hidden during the last tests before sbmm went live, I didn't like it was hidden but this time around it's just been so nice. I could care less about someone's grades and just focus on the match and my mistakes without my inbox being harassed about my grade being relevant to my skill.
But how are you supposed to grade improvement?
Killing, surviving? How to find a measurement of success? What the devs tell us on Q & A 2 kills 2 alive and thats a "Win"
Doing 5 gens solo? Looping for 5 gens? unlocking 5 chests?
Whats the measurement?
-
If you're a genuine newbie ill be nice, If not they can all die, no one ever takes it easy on me.
-
If Survs start playing like that then just play the slug and camp game. Misery loves company.

Valve doesn’t let people make money off of their characters. If bhvr makes more bill outfits, they would all have to be freely given or obtainable through shards only.
Nothing wrong with that, add them to a tome and give them away, if he is one of the least played survs it's not going to hurt the bottom line to give him free outfits.

Not in the slightest...the amount of confused players who believe that Grades are still relevant to matchmaking is very high - it's far less confusing to have them hidden and is something that has been highly requested.
What is relevant to matchmaking then?
Because it all seems like a pile of hot garbage.
And if you hide grades then show us our mmr, how are we supposed to know if we're improving?
-
You can say stuff like that after a game and far worse, and nothing happens, call someone an idiot on the forums and you're getting warnings and mutes.
-
It's the state of the game to be honest.
For killers the most value and pressure they can get is by camping and tunnelling, So that in turns forces survs into running meta survival perks.
Until there is more reward for killers for doing secondary objectives, i.e kicking gens and bones you'll find Killers will just go as hard and fast into making it 3v1 rather than doing other things.
Gen regression is non existent, so why kick a gen, you can't repair when you're dead.
Until the devs give killers more options to create pressure then welcome to d.s,b.t,dh tunnel meta.

Why do you think you can decide what DH is supposed to be used for?
The Distance and the i-Frames are both part of the effect. Both are the supposed effect of DH. And if you want to make one the "main" effect, I would say it is the distance, considering it is mentioned first.
But overall, both are the "supposed" effect. You stating that it is supposed to dodge a Hit is just your interpretation.
And well, they are just saying they are looking into it. Not that they are looking into changing it, this is a difference. However, if they remove the distance, the Perk will be one of the worst Exhaustion-Perks.
Well they said they were looking at that aspect though.

As a killer main i don't have a hate list, i just kill whomever crosses my path.
When i do play Surv i play Bill, i guess a grumpy old man reminds me of myself. Such a shame he has 3 cosmetics.

Yeah typical, hundreds of threads of people posting questions about the game and the staff choose to post in the one that's not game related and in the correct category for it.
Yeah great work, earning your cheques there.

Slug and camp, hook and camp.
Seems like the default answer when "I don't like x"
Seems like adjusting tactics to me. Like running to into dead zones with No hooks, Hiding when bbq will pop, cleansing ruin.
If a killer is behaving one way do not you not adjust to deal with it?
-
I just slug and camp.
You want to play this game, we will all have a crap game then.

The basic premise of a Boon totem is 'set up the Boon, get access to its effect until it's snuffed'. Adding a self-snuff to only one Boon, or one that can't be replicated by other Boons likely to be used along with it, makes the one Boon act differently from the rest for no reason other than dissatisfaction with the perk.
There are ways to restrict an infinite boon (limited set ups per match, cooldown to set up once snuffed]), but limited uses of an active Boon isn't it.
But that's the core issue with it.
Try a map with multiple Coh's it doesn't matter if i snuff it or it has a cd. It's endless. Imagine i could reapply my hexes (albeit in a smaller area) but i could do it at will, It would be cried upon.
Just call CoH for what it is a endless medkit, you have to go and pick that kit up but its endless.

But you can't do that with Dark Theory or Shadowstep, is the point I'm making. You can't make a boon effect that actively conflicts with other Boons like they. It makes one act differently from the rest for no real reason other than the one is inconvenient/annoying.
There isn't a need to do it with those 2 boons.
And i'd say that CoH isn't inconvenient or annoying, it's op and the nerfs that have been hit with it well justified, do not address the core issue most killers have with the perk that it is infinite.
