  • I noticed it when playing last night. It's like the old vaults are back again.

Getting hit through pallets seems to be regular too.

Had a Slinger killer last night after tunneling and camping all of us ( I play solo so not a team) and in 2 mins the game was over and he texted yeee haaww at the end. Now most would say so what but it is just dumb and salty to say something like that after you totally played the game the laziest/easiest you know how. Why not just move on to the next game?? I did without saying anything. I dont get the babies in adult bodies these days. And that is the best of what some of the douchebags say. Most are way worse when they dont win every single game.

How can a killer possibly camp and tunnel 4 survivors at once? And within all of 2 minutes.

You either have absolutely no idea of what tunneling & camping are, or this is completely made up....

I disagree that killer is harder to play in the first place, but regardless your statement is not true. It's an asymmetrical game. Balance is the result of how the two sides perform against each other. It has little to do with how easy it is to play.

Imagine a game of HORSE between Steph Curry and a random guy off the street in which Steph is given the handicap of taking every shot with one hand behind his back. His shots are objectively harder to make, but he's still going to destroy the rando regardless. He has some added difficulty to contend with, but the game's balance still of course tilts in his favor.

Some killers are braindead easy to play and others are quite difficult. That doesn't often match up with which killers are the strongest. Nurse is the classic example of a difficult killer to play that is nonetheless very powerful. A killer like Legion is on the other side, as they're simple to play but also pretty weak.

My statement regarding killer being harder to play isn't in reference to the mechanics or skill level of any individual killers. It's in regards to the whole gameplay experience of playing killer Vs playing survivor.

The very nature of an Asymmetrical 4v1 game is unbalanced at it's very core.

This is backed up by the fact that there are so few players willing to play killer in this game compared to survivors. Hence the massive difference in queue times.

I'm not complaining about that either, as I prefer the challenge and stress of playing killer over the much more casual atmosphere of survivor.

But let's not pretend there is not a significant difference in gameplay experience between the two.

  • Right.... A purveyor of nonsense then.

But n my case nopei had glitches were I had small game completely disappears along with the rest of my perks and couldn't see anything I said fing devour and I was right so n my mind's eye devour of hope made my perks disappear so I couldn't find it and from my experience killers that normally do camp don't run devour.

    Can anyone decipher this?

  • I liked everything about it except the ability to trap gens. That would be ridiculous in a 3 gen situation. Particularly when paired with pop or ruin.

Trapper absolutely should start the trial with all traps in hand. I hate having to always run corrupt, just so I can collect and set 2 traps before a gen pops.

i disagree. i think dbd is actually fairly balanced, def not as bad as people say.

Killer is just harder to play.

If one side is harder to play than the other then that is the absolute definition of unbalanced.

I'm utterly frustrated with this game, players, wait times, match-ups, and last but not least the lack of people working as a team when playing as a survivor.

When I bought this game I fell in love with it and the game play and really enjoyed my time playing. That time has come to an end. Killers are super OP and leave no room for survivors to even get gens done let alone have the chance of making it out of the match.

Match after match I'm constantly pulling teammates off the hooks for them NOT to do the same in return. I can't tell you how many times I've sat on the hook to second stage or even death because teammates don't want to participate!!!!!!!!!!

I've tried so many times to give this game one more shot but I'm done. Way to go devs!!!!

Just out of curiosity, what rank are you?

Here’s one of them. I admit I spent too much time trying to find the downed survivor but she hid in the tall grass and they move so quick downed. Besides that’s it’s red forest. So huge map.

    https://youtu.be/uWFdDlChEME

    Cheers for posting your game.

Pro's: You got your first 2 downs pretty quickly, before any gens had popped. You also managed a 2k with one of the slowest killers on one of the largest maps in the game.

Cons: You almost never used your power. Your power is the single most important aspect of your game as a killer. If you use it improperly, or don't use it, you can expect to struggle. Particularly with Deathslinger as he only moves 10% faster than survivors. You will always be on the backhand if you don't utilise his power.

When you had the survivor hooked in the basement, you probably should have been checking on some of the gens, instead of hanging around the main building.

You admittedly spent way too much time trying to find the downed survivor. To be fair, you probably wouldn't have reached the gen that popped as it was all the way across the map. Don't be afraid of leaving a survivor slugged. It creates pressure by forcing another survivor off a gen to come and rescue (or uses up an unbreakable).

Speaking of pop, you should certainly invest in better perks. All 4 of the perks you had were pretty much useless, and did nothing to further your objective. In my opinion, you should definitely consider getting the following couple of killers to unlock some really useful perks:

    1. Legion - Discordance - Will let you know when 2 survivors are working on a gen together via audio cue and highlighting the gen - Great for finding out where to go early game, and also helps in later game stages when survivors will usually double up on gens.
    2. Doctor - Monitor & Abuse - Drops your terror radius when not in chase , and increases it when in chase - Will help you get closer to survivors before they start to run to pallets.
    3. Plague - Corrupt Intervention - Blocks the 3 furthest gens for 120 seconds at the start of the trial - Makes the survivors come closer to you to do gens. Gives you plenty of time to wreak some havoc!

You already have Nurse. Unlock A Nurse's Calling , as it will let you see when Survivors are healing. You can get close for an easy down.

Get closer to the survivors before lunging. You had quite a few missed hits, which if they landed, could have changed the game for you.

I hope some of this advice helps.

  • Also, the "warmup" start to the trial is a great idea btw. Would definitely help low mobility killers to not have to sweat so much.

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Should there be a system in place for gen rushing to be punished slightly? Like it’s already insane how quick gens go and I know there are perks that can slow them down somewhat but still. Just had a match with a SWF team who just huddled together and was able to do 3 gens before I could even do anything. If they were that desperate to leave the match and not interact with me then go on. Get out of my game.

Honestly I’m not sure what can be done about the gen rushing. Perks help but not much. I was thinking that the game should penalize at least 3 survivors working on a gen together. Perhaps making the entity stop them and wait a bit then let them go back to doing the gen unless it’s still 3 people working on it. Not sure about that but I’m open to options. Even just one survivor working on a gen goes insanely fast.

Dude is there any way you could upload footage of one of your games on here?

You have posted quite a bit about how you can't even catch a single survivor before 3 gens pop, quite consistently. There must be some serious gaps in your playstyle for that to be true, as there just aren't that many good survivors who consistently do that to killers.

That almost never happens to me, and I main doctor (rank 1) and use 0 gen defense / slowdown perks. And I wouldn't even class myself as a really good killer, merely competent.

Instead of starting a bunch of threads about how the game needs to change to suit you, maybe you should think about changing your play to suit the game?

    Just a thought.

  • That would turn it into a super good camping perk.

That's the last thing we need.

If you're struggling to find the last survivor before he gets the hatch, why don't you slug the 3rd survivor?

  • Survivors usually won't expect both sides of the shack window to be trapped. Almost guarantees a down.

  • @Zacharry100 said:

It’s not wrong, devs have literally said themselves it’s holding the game hostage.

The only way to hold the game hostage is when you prevent the game from from coming to a conclusion.

Survivors refusing to do gens, and hiding around the map for 20 minutes is holding the game hostage.

A killer bodyblocking the last survivor in a corner before the egc is holding the game hostage.

Slugging 4 survivors and letting them all bleed out is a dick move, but not holding the game hostage.

    See the difference?

Check your facts before putting out statements like that on the forum. 👍

I play nurse and she's busted, I have 0 muscle memory in her and yeah sure I currently sit at green ranks because I wanna see if I can make it to R1 with trickster but since she's "so hard to play" how come I can 4k with her more easily than for example with demogorgon even with my legendary bad RNG of getting hawkins or lerys every time I play her.

I also don't even game THAT much in general anymore, like 6 hours a day in league/eve online/dark souls 3/dbd, if I was still a gamer she'd be no issue of mastering at all

So if nurse is so busted and easy to play, why do you very rarely see her in any games? (with the exception of the last couple of weeks due to the current rift)

As previous posters have said, your experience of playing her at low ranks is not indicative of how she performs against skilled survivors.

The fact that you suicide on hook against her and are crying for a nerf, rather than learn how to play against her properly is quite telling....

They can still be healed though.. I’ll be very sad to get hit by DS after downing that survivor again from full health...

If they still have ds, it means they haven't been doing gens, totems or healing others. You should have went and interrupted other survivors who are progressing their objective.

Plus you can still slug for pressure in that situation.

Every survivor not doing gens is doing the killers work for them.

I never said that I consistently find gens flying I just said that on the matches where they do then I'd rather not bother. Gen speeds paired with an efficient team is a known problem throughout the community and which is why the killer population continues to go down. I've got far to much time and experience in this game for anyone to be critiquing my gameplay I know how to play well and I could sweat it out to win if I wanted to but the thing is I just can't be bothered to do it anymore, so unlike quitting killer altogether like many have done I'd rather save myself from participating in unenjoyable matches so I don't just stop playing killer and only play survivor.

Even though I was responding to you, I wasn't directly critiquing your personal gameplay, rather anyone who finds themselves regularly in that position.

But if you can’t even hook Someone before two gens pop you’re in a bad spot as killer. That’s what I’m running into

If you actually listen to myself and a some of the other posters in this thread, you would know that you actually aren't. Read some of the earlier posts regarding pressure, 3-genning etc....

  • @Kirkylad said:

I've been playing this game for years and have 1000 of hours in the game so I'm good thanks. There are people who have even more hours than me and play this game for a job yet have matches where they don't stand a chance because of how fast the gens fly. Your ability as killer isn't the problem, having time to execute it is.

Hours don't necessarily correlate to skill in the game. Particularly if you don't use those hours to learn and improve.

There will always be matches that you won't win. That is the nature of competitive games. The point I'm making is that if you constantly find that gens fly and you end up with 0k games, then the issue is most likely to be with your gameplay, not the game.

  • @Kirkylad said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2019610#Comment_2019610

The only reason I keep playing this game is because of the amount of money I've spent on it. Besides in matches where 60% of the survivors objective is done before you get a chance to do 8% of yours means your more than likely to be fighting a losing battle and I just don't care enough anymore to bother when I can just go onto another match instead.

If you constantly see 3 gens pop before you hook a survivor, then you straight up need to improve your early game as killer. As the previous poster said, if you spend a bit of time learning survivor spawn points, then you don't have to play a guessing game on large maps. If finding the survivors isn't the issue, then you need to invest time in learning how to manoeuvre and mind-game around loops.

If you don't care enough to improve your gameplay, then I question why you would want to bother bringing it up on this forum.

This isn't just directed at your post btw.

  • @Kirkylad said:

Its the best option honestly. If you're going against one of those teams that just want to rush the gens and get out just let them. Go wait by the gate switch and watch YouTube until the gens are done then open up the gate. I'd rather chill and move onto the next match instead of getting myself stressed out fighting a losing battle just to not want to play anymore after.

But how do you know it's a losing battle? 3 gens going does not mean the game is lost. There are tons of ways to pressure the survivors, especially after a few gens have popped. Get a couple of survivors down and snowball from there.

Why bother playing at all if you are just going to give up when games don't immediately go in your favour?

As a killer, it happens fairly often.

  • To be honest, I think the first 2 words of your topic say it all. The issue isn't the level of survivors, gen speeds, or map size.

It's your mentality & expectations towards the game.

You shouldn't ever expect the game to play out a certain way, and then get tilted when it doesn't turn out that way. That makes for a miserable experience.

If you change your approach to the game, you might find you getter better results, and more importantly, that you enjoy the games more.

  • @Dragonshensi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2019570#Comment_2019570

I was playing Ghostface and Didnt even hook someone before the three gen. I don’t want to camp and tunnel so it was a wash to me.

You don't necessarily need to camp and tunnel to secure kills. After those initial gens have went, there is only a limited number of available gens left. This means that it's that much easier to find and pressure the survivors, because they will always be near you.

Being a 1 shot killer, all you need to do is 99 stalk a couple of those survivor and they are potentially in big trouble.

As the earlier poster said, it's not about the gens that go, it the 5th gen that is most important.

  • Why bother giving up? You might as well see the match out. You never know how it is going to end up.

I've had plenty of matches where it seemed like I was heading for a 0k turn on a dime.

The early game is always the weakest part for killers. The end game is the strongest for killers.

And if you feel like you can't patrol gens effectively (especially on large maps), identify your 3 gen opportunity and protect that. The survivors will have to come to you.

  • This would be a ridiculous buff to swfs and a massive nerf to solo queue flashlight users. The opposite direction to where the game should go.

  • I currently can't get past the loading screen. It comes up with the error message as posted below. I have tried restarting etc... but nothing is working currently. My internet connection is fine.

    I am playing on PC/Steam.

Yes and ? "People don't quite because something isn't balanced but because they don't LIKE something."

Yup they don't like it, so why force them to play something they don't like ? The game is here to be enjoyed by everyone most of the time. Half the killers are not enjoyable to play against. So they have to be reworked/remove, period.

If half the trials against them there is at least 1 suicide/DC there is a problem.

If the survivor community were as much active as killers are on this forum, and would state exactly the same thing that you then we would be here :

    • DS/DH would not need a change - who cares if you don't like it ? We won't change those perks because you don't like them right ?
    • Instant flashlight addon would still be around - who cares if you don't like it ? We won't change those perks because you don't like them right ?
    • Same for the insta gen addons

And well, Trapper is far from being the weakest and weak lol. Sure it relise on special addons, especially the one that injure when you disable a trap but if you know how to control the map you will get 3k most of the time.

That fact that you insist that Trapper isn't the worst killer/ one of the worst killers, shows your general ignorance regarding this game. Any killer that is both map dependent, and relies heavily upon add-ons to do well at this game is inherently weak.

That is coming from someone who is a Trapper/Doctor main.

The fact that survivors tend to DC against these killers more often than others, tells you more about the survivors than the killer.

Behavior did find a way to stop killer from camping and tunneling at least most of then. It was ruin/undying but survivor did not like to have a second objective so they ask for a nerf they got it now killer are back to the old strat and that was camping and tunneling

In what way did Ruin /undying stop camping/tunneling? 🤔

  • The 3 gen advice offered earlier is a good bet. You might want to consider playing more survivor, it might help.

I really want to know what am i supossed to do?

How are your mind games at loops?

  • @C3Tooth said:

    Gen speed:

    • Make Gen harder to find in open map
    • Add 2nd objective that shift between that and Gen (like collect Gas to Gen for example).
    • Add a start game collapse mechanic

    Camping:

    • Hook system should work exactly like PH's cage.

    Tunneling:

    • Honestly I think the new DS should be basekit (of course survivor objective should be extend in return). Or at least survivors who hooked twice will have their DS until Killer already have 4 hooks. (So instead survivor A dies at Killer's 3rd hook, it should be atleast his 5th)

By making the hook system work like PH's cage system, you would eliminate any possibility of the killer securing a kill in the EGC, as well as denying them pressure.

  • I'm sure they would like it a lot less if they were forced to do it for 2-3 times as long, ensuring that the killer would interrupt them multiple times.

Seriously, just imagine the 3-gen potential of this idea.....

    It's an absolute non-starter.

  • ......because holding M1 and looking at a gen for 80 seconds just isn't boring enough.....

  • Definetely the Midwich one. There are a couple of pallets that aren't too far off of it in Gideon though.

  • It would still be a trash tier perk.

They could make it give the killer a small movement speed buff 3-5% for every survivor currently on the hook. (Only active while survivors are on the hook.)

I don't know if that might be game breaking though.

  • You guys/girls are really weird......

  • @e_j2007 said:

devour hope rarley works for me, but when it does its the best. like moxie said, high risk, high reward. i love how op it is and it makes the game fun for KILLER. now on the survivor side, YES its annoying and toxic, but it rarley works because usually by 2 hooks they have found and broken the totem. think about hex: ruin, for my games, it usually gets broken within the first 5 mins. so most of time it doesnt work because the survivors have usually found it and broken it. so if devour hope doesnt get broken and you get 5 tokens, its the survivors fault for not finding the totem.

    How is it toxic?

  • It's first choice on any of my M1 killer builds. I don't get many Moris out of it, but most games it gives me a bunch of instadowns before being cleansed.

  • Yes but there are 4 survivors dude. That's 20 stuns if they all brought a camera.

  • @REL1_C said:

    Camera has Two uses

    1: Flash

The camera would have to be hold for 3 seconds and then released to stun the killer for a second. The camera would have much more seconds than a flashlight, about 15 seconds default . Each flash will consume 3 seconds. The add-ons would be increasing the seconds, reducing the time to hold and release and making the killer be stun for longer.

(When a survivor charges the camera, the survivor walks 10% slower).

    2: Picture

This idea took me a while but it would be great if it worked. The picture drains every second, take a picture of the environment and when the killer enters the environment you took picture of, you see the killers aura, let's say a 12 meter radius. Add-ons for this will be increasing the aura radius, the width and adding new properties, like seeing the windows and vaults.

(Add-ons like seeing windows will not be consumed every second).

So you would like to give survivors potentially 20 extra stuns against a killer?

You absolutely have to be a troll account.....

  • @Rullisi said:

It can't be that hard to just match skill levels correctly. Let us choose servers, which ones we want to connect to and this will also reduce toxicity if we can opt out of certain regions, less annoying players. There's a lot of great examples of games that have good implementations for these. I don't care if waiting time jumps from 30 minutes to 40, at least I'll know it will be a fair game AT LEAST like it already should be granted that it takes such a long time to find a game in the first place. Just do something.

Bad matchmaking = 4 people angery! 1 is happy.

Good matchmaking = 5 people happy.

To be fair you aren't wrong, yet I complain since I just don't belong in red rank so there should be a fix.

In my experience, the only way you improve is by playing against better players, as they force you to adapt and change up your strategies.

It can be painful and tedious, but you'll make quick progress if you stick at it.

If not, you'll depip and derank soon enough. Problem solved either way.

  • So to cut a long story short, you wanted the hatch. You didn't get the hatch. Now the game should be changed so that you can get the hatch.
