Which, once again, lets me say - 3 Chapters/year are enough.
This is the truth. 4 full chapters with multiple half-chapters make it so there is a lot of content pushed out, with most of it being not as good as it could be.
Exactly. And that the Winter-Chapter is usually the one which has the most Bugs, shows it that 4 Chapters might be too much.
I mean, if this year the only Chapters would have been All Things Wicked, Dungeons&Dragons and Castlevania, you could say that the year was amazing. But Doomed Course really taints it a bit.
-
Yeah, would agree. The last original Chapter before the upcoming one was All Things Wicked. And if we compare all of the contents with each other, the upcoming Chapter just falls off.
The maps - both maps look cool and both seem to be fine gameplay-wise. But, the new map will not be implemented when the Chapter starts.
Killers - Unknown is strong and IMO very fun to play. Houndmaster did not look as strong, but not bad, but she seemed VERY boring to play, at least to me.
Survivors - Sable is one of the most popular characters in the game, while I dont see this with the new Survivor. I think she is hideous and while I understand that not every Character needs to be as good-looking as Sable, Vittorio or Mikaela, I think the new Survivor is not going to be popular.
Perks - On the Survivor-side, the new Chapter might be better, because it brings a good Perk for Survivors. Killer I think Unknown had better Perks overall.
Hype - The Trailers and Teasers for Unknown were EXCEPTIONALLY good, for Doomed Course there was no hype at all, the PTB just dropped and thats it. And while this can be cool as well, I dont think that the rest of the Chapter is good enough to make it not seem lackluster.
So aside from one Perk on the new Survivor, Doomed Course is way worse than the previous original Chapter and considering that it is the Winter-Release, and those are historically the most buggy ones, I dont think we will end the year on a high note. (Which, once again, lets me say - 3 Chapters/year are enough.)
-
I say it for months that there should be an option to turn of Voicelines. I mean, I get their implementation for licensed characters, but it also annoys me that they add them for original characters. But the worst voicelines are those from Alan Wake, this mindless, senseless screaming. Makes me not play him at all, since I always have a "Shut up Alan" in my head.
Ideally, they add a feature to disable Voicelines for each character. Because some Voicelines I really like, but others I highly dislike. E:g. I think Unknowns Voicelines are great, I also like Weskers Voicelines. But I dont like them for almost all Survivors.
When it comes to adding Voicelines to older characters… I hope they will never do it. Especially since some Voice Actors will probably not come back to record those Voicelines.
-
I mean… And? Some Survivors are more popular than others. This has always been the case.

Or any other lame excuse.
-
Maybe SWF who dislikes Trickster? And Vittorio might be Solo, but also did not want to play with 3 Bots.
-
This would not really work. If someone wants to play Killer in 2v8, they want to play Killer and not Survivor. And having to escape 1, 3 or 4 games (what I have read in this Thread) would also not be good. Imagine you have to escape 4 games as Survivor to jump the queue for Killer and you die on the fourth game. Great, now you played the role you did not want to play for 4 games and would have achieved nothing in the goal of actually playing Killer.
Earning BPs as mentioned by @tjt85 would be a better solution, since it would be more consistent than escapes as Survivor. However, this would leave the problem that someone would have to play a few games of the role they dont want to play, just to play the role they want to play.
And this is not really good IMO.

And second, why should I limit myself in that way while others are not doing that?

So are you saying she's not difficult to play? Is that based on your own personal experience?
She is at least not as difficult to play as people claim her to be. Sure, learning her is hard, but actually playing her after learned… There are other Killers who are harder to play after learning them.

Obviously.
I think splitting the player base and allowing people to play normal mode during events is stupid.
However, 2v8 is the only exception to that I think. With that being said I still think it's weird to want to play normal mode over the event while it's active.
I think splitting the player base and allowing people to play normal mode during events is stupid.
What a bad take. If they would not be able to play normal mode, they would not play at all. And this would mean less players playing overall, which would look bad. Let alone that some people HAVE to play in 1v4, simply because the Killer they want to play is not available in 2v8.
And well… It is totally fine to not like 2v8. Saying those are "lovely people" in such a sarcastic tone is really not cool.

Wraith is not OP or anything. He is probably a bit too efficient when you look at how easy he is to play, but this is alright.

Why is her kill rate so low then?
If she's so easy to play well, and so OP, why does she not have the highest pick rate and highest kill rate?
Stats don't lie, most people cannot play Nurse.
Why is her kill rate so low then?
Several reasons:
- free character, meaning that inexperienced players have instantly access to her. Plus the fact that Nurse does not really play DBD; so everything a new player could have learned on Trapper or Wraith will not be transferable to Nurse (unlike for example Billy, who is also not that easy to learn, but can be played as a pure M1-Killer)
- steep learning curve - as said before, it takes a bit of time to get used to her and all those games contribute to her low killrate.
- console players - probably not a big influence, but you can expect many games on console lower her killrate, because she is hard to play on console. And this over all skill levels, a beginner will do even worse on Console compared to PC. And even a good Nurse on Console will most likely be less good than a good Nurse on PC due to the hardware.
- People dont just play to win but to have fun - if you dont just play the Killer which wins you the most games, you will probably not play Nurse all the time. So even if players are good with Nurse, the amount of those players who rather play other Killers is high. Meaning there are less people to increase her Killrate. You dont see popular content creators play Nurse that much, because it is not really exciting. E.g. if you ask me, I would not say that Nurse is my favorite Killer, but probably the Killer I get the best results in. I would rather play Billy over Nurse all the time. Or even some B- or C-Tier Killers, since they are more exciting to play. So the killrate of other Killers is more influenced by good Killer Mains than the killrate of Nurse.
Just saying that her Killrate is low, so Nurse is not busted is just way too easy and wrong thinking. With every other Killer reasons are found or made up why the Killrate cannot be that high, but with Nurse the raw numbers are fact and Nurse is weak because of that.
That every Content Creator who creates a Tier List puts Nurse at the Top and declares her the best Killer is meaningless apparently - even if there is not even any discussion or reasoning given at this point like with other Killers, where you can argue if for example Billy or Blight are better or if Ghostface is better than Sadako or other things like that. The reason why Nurse is always labelled as the best is simply "It is Nurse" and if it is THAT easy, there is a reason for it.
But yeah, the kiLlrAtE.

With the lowest kill rate, becsuse she's incredibly difficult to play well.
Here again - lowest Killrate is the only thing, because with Nurse, Killrate SUDDENLY matters. But not with every other Killer.
Her difficulty is also really overrated. Sure, you feel like the dumbest person on earth when trying her out for the first time, but it only takes a few hours to play her well enough to win the majority of the games. And if you reach that point the only question is how much you want to limit yourself to make the game remotely interesting and not completely one-sided. (e.g. how many Slowdown-Perks do you pick on her, do you use Add Ons, are you slugging a lot, tunneling, stuff like that)

Stats say she's the second worse killer in the game so guess she needs buffs bring back 5 blink nurse
It is funny, whenever Stats show high Killrates, there are mental gymnastics done why the stats are not true or not relevant. But when it comes to Nurse, the stats are the ultimate proof that she is not completely busted.
That every player on this planet who does a Tier Lists puts her into the Top of S-Tier and rates her as the strongest Killer in the game (regardless if Survivor- or Killer-Main) without any discussion or need of explanation seems to not count. They must all be wrong I guess.

Not in any significant way. Her Nerfs were always just slaps on the wrist.
@Pelaan said:
Shes not strong but she does ignore all rules every other killer has to follow
"She is not strong" is objectively false.
@Topic:
Several reasons probably. With Nurse around the Devs can use her against any Pay2Win-allegations - the strongest Killer in the game is free, after all.
Second reason is most likely the backlash. Killers would really complain a lot if Nurse would receive a significant Nerf at some point. Because she is so "skillful" and "hard to play".
And third reason, probably because the Dev have no idea how to change her without her being broken (current state) or super-weak. Because it would have to be a Rework, simple Nerfs will not work since they are either not enough or too severe.

Yeah, those should have been hits. Yet, I still dont think that the Bot was cheating, Bots dont cheat.
There are two possibilities:
- A Bug. It is DBD, after all.
- I dont know how Bots replace players, but MAYBE if the player was cheating before, the Bot has the same values. E.g. if the player has a Cheat to move at 200% Speed and then DCs, the Bot might do the same. But this is just speculation.
My initial suspicion that something was just not understood is wrong tho. (Which is a great example why videos help a lot with stuff like this)
-
Sometimes players decide that the other side must be cheating when something happens which they dont understand. Since apparently the Bot was accused of Cheating, I rather think that the Killer just did not understand something correctly. Because a Bot should not be able to cheat.

This has increased in the past few days. But no surprise, a popular content creator made a video about slugging Singularity and guess what every Singularity I faced was running and doing…
(In general, Knockout has no reason to exist like it does. It is used for griefing and 4 man-slugging and on top of it it is way stronger against Solos than SWF…)
And stuff like this is also why I just cannot recommend the game to a friend anymore. My SWF-Mate and myself are already getting frustrated by playing the game and I really cannot put a friend of mine through this. I mean, how do you want to explain it anyway? It is not even the fact that you cannot win every game, which is totally fine - you can just say "Its fine to lose in DBD, because you can still have a lot of fun". It is HOW you lose. If I would bring a friend of mine to play DBD; they probably would be tunneled or slugged in their first few games and they would never touch the game again.

Pretty sure they cannot do that. They also dont say in Support-Tickets whether and which actions are done, if they would only notify you if actions are done, they would do something they are not allowed to do.
-
Yeah, this can be rough. Today I had a Wraith who sandbagged me while playing Killer in 2v8. Usually I dont really care that much about stuff like that, but I waited over 20 minutes for a game, just to have the other Killer following me the whole time and bodyblocking me where possible.
In the end they blocked me in a Corner (I did not care too much, I just wanted my Billy Daily done at this point, so I know that this will happen, the game was ruined anyway).
The sad part is that this person also waited over 20 minutes (most likely) just to do THAT. I wish I had this freetime to spend it like that.

Report stuff like that, I was surprised I got a notification action had been taken when I reported a couple of survivors griefing us and the killer (not unhooking, hiding in the basement and taking the game hostage) so they do act on these.
I didn't send in footage either but the survivors were not the smartest and essentially admitted to what they were doing in chat lol
That you get feedback only means that someone worked on your Report. It can also just mean that someone maybe read it and closed it without action.
But agreed, griefing should be punished. Just came out of a 2v8-Match as Killer where the other Killer decided to sandbag me the whole game by bodyblocking. Reported it with a video and I really hope that something will be done. (Just imagine sitting in a queue for over 20 minutes just to sandbag…)

Not true at all, I'm getting into 1v4 killer games fairly quickly at the moment
I would not call it quick, but it is quicker than last time to find a game as Killer in 1v4. It takes me longer than usual tho.
And I think the sole reason for it not being as bad in 1v4 as last time is simply that Survivor does not have a massive BP-Bonus for playing 2v8. The 400% back then basically killed both queues for Killer, since it was not enough to make enough Survivors play 2v8, but enough to pull some away from 1v4.
Personally, I like it that way. This makes Killer more viable in 1v4, I wont really play in 2v8 anymore… At least 20 minutes of wait time are not worth it, even if it is usually a Stomp.

Dude, I can’t believe I still read survivors wanting even more buffs to this mode. It’s the most survivor sided mode ever created. Unlimited pallets, heals in 1 second, gens in 30 seconds, still not enough. God.
This is a mode where killer functions as a crippled dog chasing cars. That’s why no one queues as killer. It’s a dumbed version of the game, it’s nonsense.
The only good thing that brings this mode, is the evidence that the game will die if they keep buffing survivors to the extent of killers being a chasing npc.
I mean, do you even understand what you are writing?
You say that nobody queues as Killer - yet, my Killer queues in the mode are AT LEAST 20 minutes. I had 20 minutes when the mode went live and yesterday it was more than 20 minutes to find a match as Killer.
This means that there are way more Killers than needed and not even close enough Survivors to play.

No amount of BP-Bonus will really help. 400% BP-Bonus like last time would probably just make the queue times worse for 1v4, but only slightly amke it better for 2v8.

I never ran into slugging that much in the first interaction because caging was so fast. There was almost no reason not to cage unless you were playing Huntress.
2v8 is fast paced for sure but hooking is so slow and clunky, you literally pause for an entire second after picking up and then hook. Even with the changes there is still almost zero interaction. Survivors never go for saves and just stick to gens.
And the new gen speed/ debugg mechanic just makes the game mode a sweat fest honestly. I never had a problem winning as survivors. I have a video where we got 7 6-8 man outs in a row. Now it’s even easier imo.
I have to admit, I cannot really say much about the current 2v8. I only played one game as Killer, which was a 7K with Hatch Escape and 1 Gen remaining (granted, it was Billy and Blight, so two very strong Killers). But in the first version I had a 7K or 8K in every game as Killer.
And I have had 0 Survivor games so far with the new 2v8. But in the end, they have to try things with the modifier, and if it turns out they are not popular, they will revisit it again.

That’s a good point I never thought about, not to mention the second add on could also affect the kill rates of the other. Seeing an add on pick rate list would be cool tho.
Yeah, a pick rate list would indeed be nice to see. But I would guess that it will most likely align with Add On Tier Lists from Otz or other people who do those.
But I think some visualization for Killers who are in need of an Add On-Pass would be a neat thing to have. E.g. you can imagine how abyssmal the Pickrates for most Add Ons from Pyramid Head are (outside of Range Add Ons).
-
Thing is, data like this becomes more inaccurate the more variables you add, because the number of games is reduced. So while you might have a few thousand games of a Killer, it might only be a few hundreds when you want a specific Add On. And possibly even less if you want a combination of two specific Add Ons.
-

He’s absolutely right. The fun of the game mode was the insane fast pace and high intensity. The picking up to hook is abysmally slow and pace breaking. I slug very heavily now instead of caging immediately. In the past if you ran up to a group of survivors you would down one and take two seconds to cage them and go after the rest. Now you down one and spend 4 seconds to hook them is not worth it. I’ll just leave them on the ground and try and down multiple at a time.
An awful change for both sides in the long run.
2v8 is still very fast-paced. At least the one game I played as Killer (I probably wont sit in that many 20 minute queues to play). And well, that slugging was so popular and that Survivor gameplay was heavily reduced were pretty good reasons to change it.

Would still leave the other delay I mentioned.

They'll also give crazy good bp incentives imo to play 2v8. I'm going to give it a shot like I did last time.
To be fair, the good incentive was to make Survivors play in the mode. It was not there from the start and more of a reaction to the bad Killer Queue Times.
@ad19970 said:
Interesting. If I remember correctly, last time 2vs8 was out, my queue times for the normal 1vs4 mode on killer were still pretty quick and normal.
Since we play on the same Servers, I cannot really believe that. The queue times for 1v4 were not as bad as in 2v8, but the 400% incentive was not enough to bring enough people to 2v8, but enough to move Survivors from 1v4, which also resulted in longer queue times in 1v4 for Killer.
-
To be fair, there is a difference between the Killer Skins and the Survivor Skins for AoT.
The Survivor Skins are basically the original Characters cosplaying Characters from AoT. So even if Yui is wearing the Mikasa-Skin, she is still Yui.
But the Spirit is the War Hammer Titan.
(At least it would make sense for me that there is a difference between those two)
-
I think it is more of a general thing. I also noticed slight Delay with Chainsaw Downs when playing Hillbilly and the Auto-hooking also feels a bit clunky (but maybe this is intentional to give a chance to get a save).
But I would guess that it might be the servers who are a bit janky with 10 players on it. (At least when it comes to my Hillbilly-experience)

"More second chances are why the change was made"
Because as typical, BHVR's answer to making the game more fun for survivors is to make it LESS fun for killers. Not quite sure how they feel that's the best route, but I can assure them they are wrong.
Strange takes.
That queue times were horrible during the first version of 2v8 (they are still really bad, waited 20 minutes for one game as Killer), was because the Survivor experience was bad. So the logical step is to improve the Survivor experience.
Removing any methods to make a safe boils down Survivor gameplay to just Chases (which can be ended quickly if Killers decide to double team the Survivor) and sitting on Gens. With that, survivor gameplay got more attractive.

Circle of Healing was busted nonsense that deserved what it got, and current CoH is perfectly usable.
"Perfectly useable" as much as many other Trashperks for Survivor. As I said, the version right before the most recent Nerf was useable, but IMO already too weak to actually be effective.
But I dont care too much, the less people are running CoH on my Survivor-Teams the better.

Yeah, boons should only have that kind of power if they can be permanently broken, like hexes. Making shattered hope basekit was my preferred solution to the CoH problem before they nerfed it.
This would only be reasonable if
a) The Totems cannot be used for Pentimento and
b) All other Boons would be significantly buffed (with old CoH as well)

I mean yeah the devs clearly hate survivors because they nerfed a perk that gave survivors teams free unlimited healing that only required a single perk slot for one of the 4 survivors. That was so much fun for M1 killers to deal with.
To be fair, Circle of Healing was fine before the most recent Nerf. IMO it was too weak at this point to run it anyway and even then people who ran Boon-Perks and were blessing Totems where not helping a Team.
The current version of CoH is just awful. And with that it makes every Boon-Perk basically unplayable.

Honestly, I think it will always be this way.
Survivor gameplay doesn't change that much, you just have a bigger team with the slightly tweaked effects of different perks.
But killer? Playing killer with someone else is extremely fun, and the more characters they add to this mode the better it will be. Just like the first Lights Out, the killer experience is simply more fun in 2v8.
I would disagree that it was more fun. For me it was less fun in 2v8, since every game was basically a stompfest when I was playing Killer. I did not get anything below a 7K in all games as Killer. With a random Killer as teammate, so basically SoloQ for Killer.
I had and have more fun in 1v4, it feels more challenging and rewarding to win there as Killer compared to 2v8. But sadly 2v8 destroyed the queuetimes for 1v4 as well, so I am really not looking forward to the return of 2v8.

I think lobby time wont be so long this time cause killer selection, cause you have as choise play the original 5 that you already play enough in first mode version or play strong but frustratingly boring Blight, Spirit and Deathslinger (not only they boring but there is a chanse you dont have this killer, cause this 3 are also the most rare and unpopular so there is great change mosty dont even bought them) So game for killers became boring very quickly
"So game for killers became boring very quickly"
This was not really the issue. The issue was that not enough Survivors were playing the mode. Killers were more than enough, otherwise they would not have had 15 minutes queue times.
And while the changes are certainly a step in the right direction, I dont think that it will improve that much. My guess is that queue times for both modes (2v8 and 1v4) will be really high for Killer once again.

Breaking walls they didn't even have to break. Everyone makes mistakes, but you can't run zero slowdown and also spot the other side 40 seconds. You don't have to break walls in Dead Dawg main when you have Bam.
I don't think anyone is genuinely claiming you can play without any slowdown at all and win consistently. It's more that quad slowdown is obnoxious.
You can see the builds here:
The Survivors REALLY wanted to win. And as already said, this is an extreme case. It is not only the 4 BNPs, but also that the Team has a dedicated person for opening the Gates and Luck Offerings so that they might not even have to go for Saves.
Also, hard agree on the last part - nobody is complaining that Killers are running Slowdowns, but nobody needs to run 4 Slowdowns.

No disrespect but I mean isn’t all of this always an mmr discussion? If you play and win and win and win then yeah, you’re increasing your difficulty no?
So if you want to play easy mode but your mmr is in ultimate mode then you’re probably going to get stomped back down to hard mode. Again, if you want to play relaxed, well being in hard mode you’ll probably get stomped back down again to medium-hard mode. This keeps happening until your play style finds the 60% kr equilibrium.
Now if you are in low mmr like I am going for 8 hooks is more feasible. Running meme builds are also doable because Survivors at that low mmr often times give the killer free time by never being on gens.
If you sweat you get put with sweats. Though if you’re chill then eventually you’ll get put with all the cool players.
Exactly. A Prime Example was the Blight-player who lost his Winstreak of almost 2000 to a very strong team which wanted to win the game.
This person was sweating for almost 2k games, every game, bringing the strongest stuff all the time, stomping thousands of pub Survivors. But was getting a Meltdown when he faced a team who did the same (and obviously this was such a big problem that Survivors can do that. Winning against a Killer on a 2k Winstreak is a big bad thing, but achieving that 2k Winstreak should be completely fine, he is just good at the game…).
Same with videos of the specific content creator in OP - he is winning most of his games. But when he loses a game, it is suddenly a big problem.

the problem is that you can't run any other perks other than gen defence. The killer needs more leeway to not have to run gen defence every game. you can literally afk as killer and you'll lose at same rate as if you were playing the game without gen defence.
this is what i mean by killer impact on playing the killer is like 0 at base-kit.

no. the video is saying, killer should not run gen defence, run other variety perks. well here's issue. you run variety perks and you enter the game and lose. killer perks are suppose encourage certain play-style/empower the killer marginally but gen defence perks require you to run them to balance the base game.
you can't even make a tier list of perks in dbd for killer because every perk is like F, C-tier or D-tier for killer and gen defence perk that do anything for gens are like S-tier. that is what tru3 is trying to say when he says. Not using gen defence makes the game harder for you as killer, intentionally. It is like using Weaving spiders and No mither on survivor every game as survivor for every killer perk. a killer perk has to be like Old starstruck nurse-level to be relevant over gen defence with current balance of the game otherwise your running variety for sake variety to make game harder for yourself.
You can. Nobody needs to run 4 Slowdown-Perks. Nobody.

Slightly above average Killer Main goes against a Team which really, really wants to win. This is the expceted outcome and it almost never happens. Most of the time this person wins his games quite easily (which is never talked about).

Maybe the survivors shouldn't make it their life's work to make the killers' lives Hell.
If you really think that, you have a sad life. Do you really think that this holds any value in someones life? To make the life of Killer players miserable?

Every time this comes up, the same counter argument destroys this line of thinking:
Why not let survivors see the killer? If the only concern is that people don't want to play against a sweaty team, then let's just show the Blight/Nurse right in the lobby and let them decide?
Because it's a terrible idea, and those players would just likely never get a match because of it. That's why.
Honestly, they should just introduce this for a week or so. And then suddenly a few Killers would barely get a game, even those of players who dont play sweaty. And whenever someone has the idea again to show SWF in the pregame-Lobby, it can be linked to the time where Killers were visible in the Lobby for Survivors.
