so, back to pre-scamper removal? Since it was 18 seconds, but CD started the moment he used his slice and dice, resulting in ~16 seconds CD

Yeah, I thought it was 20 seconds. I just meant that it will be probably something in the middle. 18 seconds was too long, 12 seconds is too short, so it will be something in the middle.

I dont expect a full revert on that one.

    Legion’s kinda like Plague:

Both have powers revolving around significant stats (Broken, in Plagues case).

But. Legion doesn’t actually have a mechanic that survivors can use specific to circumvent the mechanic like Plague with her Fountains healing through the Broken status.

Plague was penned in for a rework, so who knows if they intend to shift her power into something more encapsulated away from the Broken status.

(As a side note, I wonder if you can use For the People on a non-Broken Injured survivor (against plague, highly unlikely), get infected from Plague, and then remove your FTP Broken status at a fountain)

    No, this is not possible.

You can test this yourself with Deliverance while being infected. You will just remove the Infection, but stay broken until Deliverance is over.

  • I would hope that they make a difference between Deep Wound inflicted by Survivor-Perks and Deep Wound inflicted by Killer-Perks and Killer Powers. So that both can be buffed and nerfed seperately without having unintended changes.

And I really hope that they change the Deep Wound-Visuals to not become darker the longer the Survivor is in Deep Wound. Being chased in Deep Wound and not being able to see anything after a while is really bad.

    Chucky's getting gutted lmfao

They couldnt figure out how to add more skill expression to him so they'll just nerf his CD back and leave him in the dust purely for license lovers to tolerate.

I would not expect the Cooldown to be back at 20 seconds, but I guess it will be longer. Because the reduction back then was very huge, so I would guess it will be something like 16 seconds.

  • It would not really make sense if you are at a much lower MMR when trying out a new Killer. Because while you are new to the Killer, you would still not forget everything you know about Killer gameplay. This would be very obvious with 4,6 m/s-Killers - while you would not be experienced with their power, you would be experienced with everything else. Which would make it very hard for low MMR-Survivors to play against you, since the general Killer gameplay does not differ that much for most Killers.

And while it would certainly feel good for a short time to stomp everyone with a new Killer, it would just lead to more frustration because then you would raise up faster and more, making it harder very soon.

It would also really mess up matchmaking if a new Killer is released, because this would mean that you would end up with thousands of players trying out the new Killer on a low MMR, which would result in horrible queue times for everyone trying out this Killer and in horrible matches for the Survivors they go against.

  • You can expect that nothing will happen to the visual design of the characters. It is completely up to the license holders if characters get Cosmetics and especially the license holders of A Nightmare on Elm Street are not really keen on giving their characters cosmetics. Which is the reason why never anything was released for Quentin or Freddy. The only thing which happend was a visual rework of Quentin, which actually made him look way better than his original design.

You can also be pretty sure that there will be no event. And IMO, outside of the license holders most likely not allowing it, there is not really a reason to do that, since other characters also did not get events when they were reworked.

Snares and Dream Pallets both being basekit and switchable on the fly seems to be a given. New fake objects (namely gens) would be cool too. Basically a better trickster killer than the official one.

I hope they get rid of Snares and Dream Pallets entirely. His power is just way too boring.

I wish they do a partial revert of the previous rework and add a few QoL-changes with it. E.g. I think the clocks are interesting to use, but the microsleep is not. In general, I would like the dreamworld to have more effects than just a filter, hallucinations would be fine.

IMO ideally Freddy is basically not a threat at all outside of the dreamworld, but very dangerous in it. And this is just not the case currently.

    This.

The only one I can think of is The Game, but sometimes not even that map will help against killers like Dracula.

I dont mind The Game too much. I think strength-wise it is fine for both sides, but has outliers on both ends. Meaning that the strong Killers have it really good on The Game while the weak Killers have it really bad.

But overall the Map is just boring, because all Survivors can do is run around safe Pallets and all Killers can do is follow those Survivors and break those safe Pallets. And if they are gone, the Survivor has nothing and a Killer an easy down. I wish at some point they rework the map entirely and remove a bunch of safe Pallets and add a few Windows and weaker Pallets to make it more interesting.

  • Quite the opposite is the case. Modern Maps have really unsafe Pallets. Something like Greenville has lots of Pallets, but not many of them are safe.

The reworked Coldwind-Maps feature very unsafe structures.

But "updated news system" (what I'm about to say is if updated news system means when you can check news in-game), I mean cmon, who cares? Put that time you spent working on that on something else, like that's worrying that they had that instead of something else written there..

but the Dracula one is worrying, hope they won't give him the Skull Merchant treatment

Nah. He is currently overtuned, they buffed him a bit too much. You can expect some minor Nerfs.

(But I also have to agree with OP - as long as Nurse exist, evey Killer-Nerf is a joke)

  • Highly doubt it, considering that they just posted a preview of what they are working on, you can expect those changes (if they will come to the game) only be implemented in a few months.

I hope it's not just slight number tweaks on Freddy. But January almost looks like a Nightmare on Elm Street update in general, planned changes for Freddy, 2 of his Perks and 2 of Quentin's Perks

Freddy is a Killer Update, not Killer Tweaks. So I would expect more than just a few number changes.

  • It will certainly lower the average age of the playerbase.

  • I would say that it is very likely that there will be a solution against slugging at some point. Simply because Killers are overdoing it, nothing is wrong with slugging for pressure or to avoid getting hit by DS or a Pallet Save. And nobody with a decent mindset complains about that (e.g. you wont see many Survivors complain that a Killer slugged when they did not pick up a Survivor under a Pallet when another Survivor was nearby).

But what Killers are currently doing with starting to slug at 5 Gens, like slugging the first Survivor they down and then going for another Survivor or simply slugging the whole team until bleedout is something which is not ok and I am very sure that BHVR will implement something against that. And if this is the case, Killers will obviously complain about BHVR being survivor-sided (even if Killer has just become easier over the years and nowadays you should have your 60% Killrate as Killer if you are somewhat decent), but it is in fact people who overdo it who will cause it.

But apart from that, Knockout needs to be changed anyway. The Perk has no real strategic value anymore and is only used for griefing nowadays. Especially when we consider that more and more Killers are released who usually dont M1 to injure or down people. We got so many Killers with good powers to damage Survivors, sometimes Killers are even going out of their way to slug someone and make them affected by Knockout.

That the Perk also hinders Solos way more than SWF is just the cherry on top.

It's not sweating. It's literally just playing the game. Every bit as survivors running in circles with their exhaustion perk and Windows of Predropportunity is just playing the game. Period. You have nothing to refute that with.

    Those pesky Survivors using Perks!

The difference is, I am blaming the Devs for bringing up such a mechanic in the event. Not the players for using it. You are blaming the Survivors for doing basic Survivor gameplay - looping and using Perks.

(Meanwhile I am neither using WoO nor an Exhaustion-Perk. But I am an evil Survivor, I need to be punished with uncounterable Haunts >:( )

Just like survivors say to killers when they complain about stuff they find boring or unfun, or busted: "Stop taking it so seriously, it's just game".

That's how I defend it. Queue up in non-event mode.

Or if you want to sweat, dont queue up in Event Mode. You wont have the Haunts, but you can sweat all you like.

But sadly we both are forced to play this mode to do the Tomes.

Then before that during the Halloween event last year, it was the reverse. The event was notiously survivor sided. Even the most survivor sided names in the community admitted this.

It doesn't feel good to have something so egregiously one-sided not in your favor, does it?

Except in this event, it's not that way. Haunts are pretty powerful, especially if you never look behind you and just hold W and run straight to the nearest pallet or vault (excessive WoO uses will do that to you), but the smoke bombs are also powerful, and a lot of fun to use. Top that with the fact that there is absolutely no reason for the killer to go to the void most times (which is doubly true cause I think I've only run into a few killers actually using their haunts, and I've played this mode exclusively survivor aside from the one killer only challenge). It's straight up a waste of time unless you're already ahead.

The Haunts have 0 depths when it comes to gameplay. Just hug the Survivor, release a Haunt, press M1. I dont really see how this can be defended.

It works well if you do the Even things and not just play a standard DBD game. Pumpkins give 20 for trick, 500 for normal and 2k for treat with arcane. In turn a gen complete for even is 3k.

"even is 3k" is a funny thing to say considering that you spend 90 seconds on it. I mean, you are obviously right, but saying it in a way as if it would be a huge amount is not really the correct thing to do.

And - you have to be on the Gen to get the BPs. Which is always a little bit sad and I dont really know why they went back to that some time ago. (Because there were times where you got the Bonus-BPs when you just used an Offering)

  • Yeah, it is nuts and cheap. But the same happened with the Anniversary Event.

looking right at him sounds fixable but the game also has no way of knowing if you the actual player is actually seeing his precense.

While this is true, some reveals I got were quite silly. One time I did not even know who the Killer was, just that the Survivor was hooked in the Basement. I was nearby, so I went to shack and were hiding next to it and suddenly I revealed Ghostface without seeing him, giving away my location. He was somewhere on the edge of my field of view.

And yet, you can follow him and look directly at him and nothing happens.

As long as we don't have an unknown situation where you can cleanse still for 3 seconds when breaking LOS

Sure, it should not be TOO easy. In general, I dont think it is too easy or too hard to reveal him currently, it is just that it can be very inconsistent. As said above, sometimes you can follow him, have him in full view and nothing happens.

  • Because he is fine strength-wise. He is not really an A-Tier Killer or anything, but he also does not suck at all. He is not really hard to play, but also not braindead. He is just completely average and this is fine.

WHAT ? I thought 68ms wasn't too much to have an impact in thegameplay… Geez, how many ping have you to have decent ping ?
Thanks for the analysis in slow motion. I'm convinced that kind of miss should be soooo frustrating for the killer as it had surprised me as well .

This is your ping to the Server. But if the Killer also has 100-110ms Ping, the difference between you is quite significant.

Because it is basically Killer to Server and then the Server to you, so the Ping adds up.

  • If you slow it down to 0.25 Speed you see that you are leaving the trail basically right before it hits you. Considering that you both had high Ping, I guess this lets it seem closer than it actually was.

  • @Gardhome said:

It did what it should be, hard counter dance with me and quick and quiet (when this 2 perks get buffed it became very easy to loose a chase with a killer, so predator not punish survivors for playing good cause you not playing good when this 2 perks get all job for you). Untill Dance with me and quick and quiet stay the way it is, predator is health counter for them

    Nonsense, sorry.

Especially against Nurse it shows that Predator can be really broken. As it is repeated ad nauseam from people who defend Nurse, you have to break LoS with her. And people who talk about this all the time act as if this would be easy. But even IF you manage to do that, Predator will lead the Nurse instantly back to the Survivor.

And this goes for every Killer, every smart play a Survivor can do (aside from Looping) will just result in the Killer having the location instantly.

That it needs to counter Q&Q or Dance with Me is also not really something which makes sense. I dont see those Perks at all in my games on either side, at max I see Q&Q paired with Head On. And I certainly never lost Survivors who used those Perks, you act like if you just have to equip them and you will escape every chase.

Eh, I wouldn't say Off The Record is overrated. Sometimes I kinda wish survivors would run it for how many complain about tunneling being so common.

But I agree, neither need nerfs and I don't really think either should be touched as well. I think they're in a perfect spot, especially with them being disabled at end game.

The thing is, OTR does nothing when it comes to tunneling. If you get hit 10 seconds after being unhooked, OTR did not protect you at all, since you would have had basekit Endurance. And being silent while making grunts of pain before is a clear sign for the Killer to hit the Survivor immediatly.

  • Best thing is that people complained because of the poor wording. That the Building actually got weaker because of it was quite clear after a few hours.

  • Both Perks are really overrated IMO. Especially OTR. They dont need more Nerfs. Let alone that if you are hooking people that fast, you are doing quite well anyway.

  • @radiantHero23 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3820504#Comment_3820504

I think no player loses a game because of one thing alone. It's almost always a combination of aspects that lead to a loss.

This is correct. Yet we see mainly complaints about one thing and one thing only. And if it is not a Perk for once, it is SWF, the ultimate scapegoat.

The people who complain about WoO currently will still lose games if it is nerfed and then think the next Perk is at fault.

  • I dont think it needs a Nerf. It is just used a lot and then Killer players think they lose games because of WoO.

  • The thing is, how should this be automatically detected? We have two things from BHVR which work automatically - Bots and the Chat Filter. And both are subpar.

I fully agree that it should be banned if a Survivor rats another Survivor out, especially if the Killer is dropping them. This is clearly working together with the Killer and a bannable offense.

But there are three examples where I think an automated system would be problematic:

Scenario 1 - The Survivor hiding gets found because the other Survivor is leading the chase to them. Without the Survivor in chase knowing that the hiding Survivor is there. What if an automated system detects that Survivor A runs to Survivor B and Killer switches the Chase?

Scenario 2 - Happened to me. 8 Hooks - 3 on Renato, dead, 3 on Vittorio, dead, 2 on Bill on Death Hook - and I find Bill. I decided to slug him to find the Nea, who was hiding most of the time. She was not idle or anything, she did Gens, but whenever an Unhook was done by her, she was hiding, which basically forced me to go after the unhooked Survivor. I always try not to tunnel, but if I only see one Survivor, I go after them. So I slugged Bill and before he bled out, I let him wiggle free. In the end, Nea was dead and Bill did the last two Gens while I was chasing her and while she died. In the end, she reported both of us - the Bill did not rat her out and it was solely my decision to kill the Survivor who was letting their teammates die and I let the Billy escape because I felt bad for leaving him on the ground for so long.

And I think an automated system might punish Bill and myself here, even tho nobody worked together and I just decided to kill the Nea and let Bill go and Bill just decided to not save the Nea.

Scenario 3 - 2 Survivors dead, 1 Survivor on Hook, 1 Survivor hiding. Killer decides to let the Anti-Facecamp mechanic work so that the Survivor can get off the Hook. The Survivor themselves decides that they want to rat out the hiding Survivor.

Now, what should the automated system do? Should it also punish the Killer, even if the Killer did not even want that? What the Survivor did was not correct at all, but it was out of control of the Killer.

You see, it can be problematic to have an automated system. I think the current report system for this is enough, because I would rather see someone not being banned, even if they did something wrong, than someone being banned because the automatic system failed.

(Even tho, I have to repeat - it is a bannable offense and should be banned. Survivors working with the Killer should not be a thing)

Dodging because of Prestige was silly, sorry. Prestige means nothing, in theory someone can own a P100-Survivor without ever playing Survivor. And it is not like P100s were rare nowadays.

It is safe to assume that most games were with full P100-Lobbies when it comes to Survivors, which just the difference that the Survivors were not using their P100s. And in the end, you face the same players, regardless if they use their P100-Mains or the P2-Survivors they are just levelling.

I agree with names and prestige, but the prestige is already gone and the names can be hidden.

And I do think that the killers should be able to see what items the survs are bringing, so I can't agree with doing away with the lobby altogether.

Sadly the information about the item is not used to prepare, but rather to dodge. And this should not be a thing.

  • @Mr_K said:

Yep, this was the next step after hiding prestige. Next you will want default cosmetics until the match starts.

The incremental regress to no lobby continues.

Which would be totally fine if there is no Lobby.

Gameplay-wise there is 0 reason to show names and/or profiles in the pregame Lobby.

  • I mean, Boons are terrible too. Hexes are better IMO, sure, some are also not really worth it, but something like Ruin is way better than any Boon-Perk.

(In general, comparing Boons and Hexes just because they are glowing Totems is pretty much nonsense.)

  • Why? It is a pretty bad comment. Some words can trigger people and really hurt them, this has nothing to do that those people are (or should be) at least 18 years old.

  • IMO Endgame Chat should either be removed completely OR it should be possible to switch the Filter off. I can totally understand the reason for the Filter, it just works really badly. And I would personally just disable it, I dont care what slurs others might throw at me, but I care about seeing my own unproblematic messages being censored for no reason.

Almost as if the nerfs removed the only interesting part about her (her trap playstyle) and just boiled down her kit to “Worse Clown that has to put in double the effort for a third of the reward” or something

Who could have POSSIBLY seen the result of that coming /s

I mean, her "interesting" part of her power was also boring to go against. Because there is no Killer/Survivor-Interaction. The Killer Interacts with the Drones and the Survivor interacts with the Drones.

The changes they did to her just made her another "Place something at Loop and force the Survivor to go away or get a Hit"-Killer. From one boring concept to another.

Strength does not have to correlate with how fun or unfun a Killer is. And Skull Merchant is just another example.

  • I mean, she is still not fun to play against, so...

Coldwind has been pretty ridiculous. The new L wall pallet is decent, but the new theme with Coldwind is that every pallet is useless once it's dropped.

You have to play for the stun at the super tiny fillers, which I don't love because you're playing the ping/validation game, and some killers don't even have to honor those pallets. Those tiles have a small chance of being effective against a small percentage of the roster.

That could be fine if they weren't the only tile on that 1/4 of the map. But it's often harvester, into a knee-high super unsafe filler, into a hill.

"That could be fine if they weren't the only tile on that 1/4 of the map. But it's often harvester, into a knee-high super unsafe filler, into a hill."

This is my big issue with this as well. Especially Coldwind now has super-unsafe Tiles and also almost none of those. And they were replacing Jungle Gyms, some of the safest tiles in the game. And I think it is just a big mistake to replace those structures 1:1, since they cannot compare.

I would be fine with unsafe Tiles like those BHVR is now going for. IF there would be loads of them and not just a sad Pallet in a giant deadzone.

Maps and Keys, outside of hatch access, both do the same thing, they reveal auras. They should be merged into one item and buffed accordingly with the traits of both.

The thing is that the auras of the environment are basically meaningless except for Gens. And IMO Deja-Vu helps with that already enough.

I would be fine with Keys tracking the Auras of players and Maps tracking the Auras of the environment. But I dont see that Maps can become really useful with just Aura Reading.

They also removed them from the window class rooms, but breakable walls were an important balance factor there. Now those room are pretty bad.

Those were examples of good breakable Walls. Sad that they got removed.

In general, I am always for no Breakable Walls and I would also say that BHVR is going to remove them, because the most recent Maps dont feature Breakable Walls + a few got removed.

But I think some of them are fine - e.g. the ones on Midwhich near the Window Rooms. Or the one upstairs on Ironworks of Misery. But it is kinda lazy to just remove them without do any more Balance changes to those areas.

  • Pyramid Head. You basically only have Range Add Ons and nothing more.

  • It is a terrible designed Perk, not just on Nurse. You basically make any outplay the Survivor can do meaningless, meaning every form of mindgame will just be removed by Predator. Unless you do it multiple times, but then the Killer is most likely way worse than the Survivor they are going against and there was some Matchmaking issue.

But it is way worse with Nurse. The way to play around Nurse is to break line of sight, which is parotted a lot here when it comes to the everlasting topic that she is broken and does not play DBD. But this is basically removed at this point. it is already hard to win against a good or decent Nurse, but with new Predator, you cannot even lose her by breaking LOS. And I am very sure we will see the full extend of it in a few weeks when basically every Nurse-player has caught up that Predator is good.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Actually it does. The feature stops face camping, which it was designed to do. It was never intended to remove camping from the game.

If that’s what you want it to do, feel free to start a new topic in order to discuss that and what you’d like it to do instead of how it currently succeeds in what it’s intended to do.

Not sure if you can say it is working, when it fixes a problem which never really existed.

And when looking at the screenshot, there is 0 difference if the Nurse would be facecamping or standing there. And in fact, it does not really make any difference if any Killer is 12m away or facecamping, they are back at the hook when the unhook happens.

  • As others have said - it is an Anti-Facecamp feature. Meaning, it is useless, since facecamping was never done anyway.

Now all you get is a bar not filling up while you see the Killer standing there, close enough to be at the Hook when you get unhooked.

1 … 45 46 47 48 49 … 341
