It should be the players choice to go for stupid plays like that instead of being cornered into only using their power when it's 100% going to not miss ever. It takes the nuance out of it.

The player still can go for stupid choices. But gets a punishment.

  • Are you playing as Dwight? He seems to have some problems with his arm lately.

From the video they showed, it seems pretty hard to actually cause the chainsaw to overheat unless you go way out of your way to do it.

    ^ this.

This Mechanic is most likely for those players who are using the Chainsaw all the time because the penalty is not that big, especially when using Cooldown-Add Ons.

If someone is good with the Chainsaw and does not overuse it in a chase (meaning going for unrealistic chainsaws) they will not have that much of a problem.

And it does not look like it heats up much when using it for mobility.

  • One thing - the Bubba Add On. So that it gets some use instead of just being "Why dont you use Knockout?"

Second thing (and probably more important) - Some Killers can be pretty oppressive with their Ability, like Billy or Oni. Slugging everyone with Knockout could be seen as a problem by the Devs (even tho, I think the problem with that playstyle is Infectious Fright, but whatever).

  • Of course there is. Hillbillys Change does not look that bad to be honest. I am curious about the Add Ons, even tho, I expect Crack Billy and Insta Saw to be gone.

  • The forums will be full of tears until everyone realized that they are not that bad. Of course there will be the usual "Leatherface is OP now" Threads.

    This is exactly it.

They can create more skins at a faster rate since they don’t need to test how they interact in every possible cosmetic combination, or spend resources fixing the inevitable cosmetic issues that have to be fixed every patch. Expect this to be the new norm.

It depends if it is really a win for BHVR in the end. Because more people would have bought the Set if it would be mixable. Even if they only intend to use only parts of it, players most likely buy the full outfit because it is cheaper and it might be work out with future Cosmetics.

But someone who does not like the full outfit will not buy it. And then people who dont like Sets will not buy it as well. So while it might be less workload to create the Skin, the income will most likely be less as well.

I am just wondering if I will get morid for buying and using the Skin. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just had a laurie do that a few games ago. I think she thought she was better than she is and got mad

I did not play much Killer lately because my queues are quite long, but I only had a guy who wrote "A little bit of farming would have been nice" after a game where he got 20k. Which is not really bad, with the 5 Cakes burned, it is a good bunch of BPs. At least he got that I dont have to farm and played nice.

(Not expecting a Killer to farm myself, just not being a dick would be nice)

  • Which got released before Sets were a thing. Maybe Sets needed to be created for the Silent Hill Chapter and BHVR started to use it for other stuff as well.

I mean, I got it, it looks amazing. But I would also be happy about mix&match and I am pretty sure that most players will not use Head Pieces which clip through the hoodie.

  • A Set because of the Hoodie. Even tho, I am wondering if the Head Piece is with part of the Hoodie or without, because the Head Piece is only the Head itself.

But I guess it would create clipping issues with some of Neas Hairs, like the long-haired Head Pieces.

  • Personally, I would call the guy trash who uses Object to run at the Killer to kill himself on hook.

  • Yeah, but Offerings got more rare because of that.

  • It was, it is in the Patchnotes that the Spawn Rate of Event Items was adjusted.

Are you saying that surv's cake spawn ratio decreased and killer's one remained the same ?

Yep. But Survivors get more Flashlights and Medkits now.

  • @CriminalMind_ITA said:

If it's true that they lowered Cake Spawn Ratio..than to me is acceptable

Yesterday i did 6 matches as a killer, farming only

    Bbq+ 4 Event cakes

I earned more than a million BP in less then an hour and have unlocked about 20 more cakes (1/2 cake each bloodweb)

    I mean..it's ASTRONOMICAL

One week like that and i can P3 all killers lol

Well, the Ratio did not change for Killer at all. Killers can still get a ton of Cakes and BPs because of that, while Survivors will not get many Cakes anymore.

  • Did the Killer have Stridor? Stridor counters Iron Will, if both are on Tier 3, the Survivor will make Injured Sounds with 50% volume.

  • From what I have noticed: More Items (aka Flashlights and Medkits), less Cakes.

  • This is most likely because Konami does not want their outfits to be mixed. So nothing BHVR can do.

What difference have you noticed? It felt like I was getting an average of 1.5 cakes per bloodweb before the change. Since the change I haven't really levelled up enough to notice a reduced drop rate.

Usually I got between 1-3 Cakes each Bloodweb. Now it is more like 1 Cake every 2-3 Bloodwebs.

Nurse definitely became worse. Her add-ons are all jokes.

of course she became worse. Which was 100% justified.

  • Wait for the rest of the Add-Ons. One of the worst things of Bubba is that his Add Ons are copy&paste from Hillbilly. But even worse - except for Chargetime, they dont do anything. Cooldown? Whatever, you dont use the Chainsaw for Mobility and his animation is super-long anyway. Speed? What does it matter? Again, no Mobility and you use the Chainsaw when you are right behind them, nobody cares how fast he will be.

Being a unique Add-On at least indicates that his Add Ons will be more interesting in the future.

  • @Peanits said:

I can promise you that it is not intentional. We've changed our process on patch notes lately, and unfortunately some things slip through the cracks. We're working on improving the process and we'll try to make sure they're all mentioned in the future, and I'll see if we can get these ones updated to match.

Honestly, this is kinda sad. Last year the Firecrackers were way more common than the Gateux. This year the Gateux were more common and the Event Items rare. BUT once the Gateux would have been fixed, players would gain more BPs, meaning more Event Items.

Now it is like last year. 3 Bloodwebs to get a Gateu is really disappointing, considering I have fo spend 150k BPs for them. And last game I was the only one burning a Gateu.

  • @CashelP14 said:

Normally I reply to all these individually but seeing 23 notifications is too much lol it is literally knockout on a killer who has knockout as their teachable perk. Genuinely worried after seeing this what they've done to my Bubba..

Maybe wait? This community is always the same - ONE thing is known and they think they know everything. I remember the Freddy Nerf a few months ago. Or that Doctor became weaker.

  • I preferred the previous state. Last year the Items were too common and the Cakes were too rare. This was different now. Sadly the Cakes are less since the Hotfix... Even tho, once fixed, the Players would gain more BPs and therefore more Event Items.

    Well, what a bummer.

  • Its way better than the current state. Current state is copy&paste from Hillbilly (except for the terrible Chili Add-Ons), while only Charge Time is actually beneficial to Bubba.

At least he gets original Stuff.

  • maybe you can use some punctuation it is horrible to read how you write nobody will understand you if you do not use any punctuation marks

    On a serious note:

The cages do the same as before. They ignore Hook Perks, they are a faster alternative to hooking. The Killer cannot B-Line to the Cage to tunnel one person off, but thats it.

  • Honestly, since Day 1 PTB many people from both sides have said that the Cages are unhealthy as they were. Its not about "whining" it is about identifying problems. And the solution BHVR went for is good, the Cages still get their use and still ignore Hook Perks, but cannot be used to tunnel someone that easily.

Players who play PH normally wont feel the change.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

I think it's when your considerably close for moderately long, but I could be wrong.

    Sounds slightly right.

  • Nah, same for me. The Canadian Trapper Mask is also bugged and Legacy as well.

(Last thing I only assume, saw a Hacker yesterday who was full Legacy except for the Mask, so I guess it is bugged as well)

  • Yes, the Hotfix is today.

  • The Aura Read is not that useful on most Killers, most people just put it on for the Double BPs. Not a big fan of this, but if anyone wants to use it on e.g. Hag without any benefit except for the BPs, they can use it instead of an useful Perk.

The Devs were thinking about adding a Bonus to WGLF, so there might be something that makes the Perk better in the future.

  • "I don’t understand why this had to be changed, I’d like to be informed."

Because Pyramid Head has it insanely easy to tunnel. Spawning the Cage as far away as possible does not mean that it is actually far away. Removing the Cage Aura makes it harder to get to the Survivor and despawning the Cage removes the Camping.

With Hooks, Survivors have stuff like Borrowed Time or DS. With Cages not.

These changes should not affect the gameplay that much. But it makes it harder for people who want to tunnel with him.

    As leatherface of curse.

Can be a mori or a sacrifice. Im not sure about bleedout.

Are you sure about the Mori? Wiki says "sacrifice". I have not used a Mori to get my faces, but it would have helped to get them, lol.

  • Never happened to me. Whenever I am connected to a Server outside of Europe, the other players are from Europe as well. So if I decide to play a 130 Ping Server, the Survivors also have around that Ping and are actually from Europe (I ask, sometimes).

For that I would believe the number of Servers is limited so when there is no server available, the game puts the players elsewhere. But that only I was on a Server outside Europe and the others were on the "correct" Server, nope, this did not happen yet.

  • "5. Just hide."

Man, thats fun gameplay! Pressing M1 and then hiding for 2 minutes, because any chase is actually bad for the Survivors.

The Devs are already working on something for early game. But I know exactly that those yellow Rank players who somehow made it into Red Ranks as Killer will keep complaining, because the game can become easier and easier, but it is still too difficult for some.

  • My magical crystal ball says "Maybe".

I hope it is today, but my hopes are not that high.

Thats my point. With as many pallets and vaults and windows there are. If a survivor gets to 2 pallets, its over, you lose 3 gens.

You know that Doctor has a pretty good anti-loop ability? If you are not using it or are not good with it, improve and dont complain.

  • So your first chase was 80 seconds at least. Thats too long, and up to you. Especially with Doctor.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

Old Ruin - if not found early in the game because of bad totem spawns - bought the killer time especially at the beginning of the match. That also allowed for more playstyle variety.

New Ruin doesn't help at the beginning of the match anymore, which leads to more scenarios à la "first hook, 3 gens done".

It's not a coincidence that complaints about tunneling, camping, certain killer perks/offerings etc increased when Ruin was changed. So if the intention was to make killers play "harder" against survivors, then it was a job well done.

"That also allowed for more playstyle variety."

Yeah, such playstyle variety when every Build started with Ruin and PGTW as Slowdown Perks + (most likely) BBQ (if it makes sense on that Killer or not). Adding NOED and we have a Build that can be run on any Killer without thinking about their playstyle at all.

It is good that now players have to decide between Ruin OR PGTW. Now we have more variety in Killer Builds (way too less still, but more than before).

And well, Moris and Camping/Tunneling were also present with old Ruin. Killers are also doing it when 5 Gens are left, its not like they are only doing it as a "last resort". But I know, Killers are the poor little guys who need to be protected.

  • Killers already gain way more BPs than Survivors. A mediocre Killergame is a really good Survivor game. And BBQ-Stacks are easier to get than WGLF-Stacks.

(also, my Killer Queues are already longer than my Survivor Queues. Even in the evening I have short queues for Survivor now, around this time it is instant)

  • I like if. If a Killer is able to put pressure on the Survivors, it is a really strong Perk. And for me personally, more annoying than old Ruin. But overall, it is better that it rewards a good Killer rather than giving a Slowdown withou any effort.

BUt I dont use it, because I dont like to use Hexes. I feel more stressed when using Hex-Perks (even with old Ruin), so I am not really using them.

    Alright, quickie response:

I have no idea what or who you're insinuating, the primary platform that I consume my Dead By Daylight media is youtube and I rarely if ever watch twitch streams covering Dead By Daylight. The only time I ever do that is when a new chapter comes out or there's a dev stream, and in those situations it simply becomes entirely more convenient to watch it live as it's happening than wait a few hours for people to upload videos about it.

The only streamer I guess you could say I watch on a semi-regular basis is Tru3ta1ent because he uploads the matches played during his stream to youtube and I watch them there, so if the answer is tru3 then I suppose you got that right but I don't ever recall him saying that before.

"But the individual Skill of a Survivor should never be ignored. It should never be 100% guaranteed that a chase can end quickly," -Aven

Yeah, I never said it was a guarantee, I did say that generally speaking killers should be completing their chases and getting downs, because they have four survivors each with 2 hooks to cut through before they can be killed. In fact my exact words prior to that were: "an individual survivors capabilities just shy of what the killer can do so that yes, it is possible for a survivor to outplay a killer" so we both agree, even if our perspectives are slightly different.

I'm not going to deny anything else you said after that, especially since you amended that bloodlust is a necessary mechanic and you don't think it should be removed which was my only qualm about what you said, the logic of everything else is fairly sound. Although I will mention I'm slightly disappointed you didn't comment on the "heavier pallets" idea, I personally thought it was the most interesting part of everything that I previously mentioned. :(

Oh yeah, regarding the Heavier Pallets:

I have not watched the video again, I have watched it when it got released. Following Scott on Youtube as well. But since I forgot to answer to this point, I just rewatched it:

Personally, I think that the heavier Pallets are a good idea to make unsafe Pallets more valuable. It would also give something new to an already existing game mechanic.

However, I have a few questionmarks regarding this:

When I think of an unsafe Pallet, the first ones that come to my mind are Hawkins or stuff like the Pallets which are near the Cathedral on Chapel or the one Scott mentioned or the two Pallets which are useable without the Gen being powered in the Basement of the Temple of Purgation. Those are useless, they are horrible. Making them more playable would be great, that is for sure. However, and this is how they are already designed, the Survivor needs to get the Stun, otherwise he will get hit. What about Killers who respect the ######### out of Pallets? This does also happen at Red Ranks and with the heavier Pallets on unsafe Loops, it would make them not really valuable again. However, it is debateable how much of an impact that would be, because in the end it can be smarter to respect heavier Pallets. Just a point I wanted to mention.

What is more important - how long should the Stun be? Scott mentioned 2 seconds more, so 4 seconds instead of 2. Meaning that Enduring would cut it to 2 seconds, which is the current Stun for regular Pallets. But wouldnt Enduring not become too mandatory? I personally like the Perk anyway and use it on almost every M1-Killer, but 4 second Stun sounds a lot, especially when it can happen quite often on Maps like Hawkins.

And last but not least, if this would be implemented, they would need to fix Hits through Pallets so that they actually can be useful. And, equally important, Pallet Stuns need to connect on the Killers end as well, I can imagine it would be very frustrating to get a 4 second Stun while not even near the Pallet on the Killers Screen.

But overall, I like the idea. And it would not make Structures too strong, because if the Survivor stays at the Pallet, it is playable for the Killer.

  • Maybe you should not have tunneled this one person. 6k points indicates for me that they did not that much, meaning that it is really likely that you just focused on them, while the others were doing Gens.

But I bet you played perfectly the entire game :)

  • Yeah, he seems to be a failed design. If a Pyramid Head does not tunnel, it is fine, but it is so easy to tunnel with him. This "The Cage spawns far away" does not matter at all, if you go down in the Center of the Map, the Cage is not far away. And as long as there is no Survivor next to the Cage, Pyramid Head should make it.

In general, it is quite strange that a lot of Perks dont work with the Cages. Like, surely this goes for every Killer that some Perks dont work with them, but not so many.

Also I think his Ranged Attack is as flawed as it can be. The counterplay is not really there, because he has no delay when faking his power. So when vaulting a Window or dropping a Pallet, he can use his Ranged Attack, and if the Survivor fakes it, he can use his M1. Thats...eh. And because his Power is also telegraphed AND has a long-ass cooldown after using it, faking is better than actually using it.

And I think this should never be the case with a Killer Power. Like, Freddy can fake his Teleport, but it is also insanely beneficial when he just uses it. Not so much with Pyramid Head.

And when it comes to BPs and Cages - I dont know how they though that instead of 1000/1500 Altruism Points, 550 Boldness would be a thing. Not only is it a third of a safe Unhook, but it is also Boldness. Which is the easiest Category to fill up. I opened a Thread about it in the Feedback Section, because it should be the same as for Unhooks, and someone wrote that it is most likely less because it is (or better: should) be safer to rescue from a Cage than from a Hook. While I can agree to that, there is no reason why I should be Boldness.

So yeah, I hope they will go over him again. I can see the potential that he can become a Killer where players might want to DC or kill themselves on the Hook, if they end up on a Hook being tormented, because this means that Pyramid Head will most likely have an easy time. And I would like to see this not happen, because in general I like his design. But it is really flawed.

  • Whispers is the best Tracking Perk. However, I dont run it on Spirit, I feel that hearing the Survivors is more important for me. You should test it for yourself if you can use it or not.

  • I dont think you understand how important Movement Speed is. This would basically a dedicated Perk Slot for this Perk, there is no reason to not use it.

  • The thing is, the purple Key can allow even 3 Survivors to escape. Three left, two escape with the Key, last Survivor escapes because the Hatch is open.

I would like to remove the Hatch-Part completely and make it an Add On or give it to the Skeleton Key for 1 Escape or when the Killer closed the Hatch. Something like that.

  • If my friends would be running Self Care, they would not be my friends anymore.

    >:(

  • Either 42 or 69.

Nah, dont know. Could be anything. I would expect 50k/day, but they wrote "one-time".
