  • Even when you would use Dead Hard to dodge a Hit (aka what is not possible at the moment), the duration would be so long that you would easily get Hit by the Killer. So the Perk would be 100% useless.

Dead Hard is fine, its ok that Survivors have strong Perks as well. And if it gets nerfed at one day because Killer Mains cried enough, they would go for Sprint Burst, since everyone would use that and Killer Mains would get annoyed by Survivors sitting on a Gen, letting the Killer get close before running away.

  • Yes, so far, happened only as Killer. But when I play Survivor, I am not playing Solo, maybe this is the reason.

What is kinda annoying is that it happens after already being in queue for a few minutes. So you have to join the queue again, and especially during the day, Killer Queues here are long.

Or killers are ridiculously sensitive. They throw a fit over tbagging. It's dumb, but hardly something worth getting tilted over.

Oh, they are. Killers most of the time act like "Survivors are not scared anymore! They should be, they are running from a Killer who wants to murder them!" but they are also like "Moooom, someone is teabagging me in a videogame! :((". Why should anyone be scared about someone who also throws a tantrum when they get teabagged?

    @Topic:

Yeah, that Freddy seemed to have some problems. IMO there are two things that can be done when one person is afk - either chill and just play normally, but nice so that everyone gets some points (not saying to farm or let the Survivors go, just play more relaxed, he has basically won anyway with a 3v1) or just get the game over ASAP because a 3v1 is boring for the Killer.

Even for the second option, this is not achieveable by trying to slug all 4 players.

I don't see how the gen spreads are good for gameplay. They are so far apart that double range nurse can't cover them. Pretty much the only option that the killer has is to play lame by slugging and camping. It seems unhealthy to me.

So far, I did not think that they were too far apart. But I have only played the Map 4 times since the Update. And there is a chance that two Gens can spawn in the Main Building which is the opposite of "too far away".

  • The Main Building is 100% weaker. Also, they added some stuff, which was needed, because the Map was pretty empty before (which was also a reason why the Main Building was so strong, there was not much to work with when you were near the center).

IMO gameplay-wise it is better. I dont like it visually, it is a little bit too much stuff there, too much going on. But thats just personal taste.

How is it not now a true anti tunnel perk? Id like to go into detail on that as you seem to base your argument at first on.

I agree with the last part however, I think in fact make it 10s of no blood trails and scratch marks. This would definitely be a good change in my eyes.

The middle part is balanced, I like it but I suggested in an earlier comment the trade off that could be made for a longer stun.

Because you can still get tunneled. That you get slugged for the minute or chased for the minute does not mean that you did not get tunneled, just because the DS ran out. Something like increasing the timer would be an option here. Thats my only issue, I dont want to be back on the hook after chased for a minute, yes, the Killers time was wasted, but that does not really change the fact that the Survivor did not do anything else than getting tunneled.

Regarding the Stun, like I said, it is a problem that the strongest Killers are not really affected by it, but changing the Stun Duration would not be a good option. Especially since OPs 1 extra second would do nothing against a Nurse, it would have need to be like 10 second stun, but this is not reasonable at all.

  • Obsession in every game - yes. Should also not be a problem with the Changes for DS, except the Killer wants to tunnel of course. But since you cannot progress any Objectives anymore after the change (Killers like to call it a "true anti-tunnel perk" at this point, even if it isnt), there is not really a problem to "fear" DS.

Regarding a longer stun - no. It is indeed a problem that Killers like Nurse or Spirit dont care at all for the Stun, which is bad that the strongest Killers are not that much affected by DS. However, increasing the Stun would also make it more difficult for Killers like Trapper.

I would rather remove all Scratchmarks and Bloodtrails during the 5 second Stun-Duration. This would also mean that a Killer like Nurse has to locate the Survivor before going after them.

Regardless of one being more easy than the other, you said they were both easy, which is not really possible. It doesn't matter how simple something appears, if it's a competitive situation between two people, how easy it is depends on the other person always.

Also, if you know people who have 10k hours, and are still not even "good", this further invalidates your point that either side is easy.

A game does not have to be difficult for people being bad at it.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1955531#Comment_1955531

If both sides are easy, then surely this is impossible? How could winning as a Survivor be easy, but winning as a Killer is also easy at the same time? You probably just think both sides are easy because you've got 6000 hours in the game, and typically you play people with less hours than you.

Surely you can see that both roles cannot be objectively easy at the same time?

If you come against good survivors, as a Killer, it might be a difficult game, and you need use skill to overcome it.

If you come against a good Killer, as a team of survivors, it might be a difficult game, and you need to use skill to overcome it.

Both of them cannot be easy at the same time, it's literally impossible.

I mean, both sides being easy does not mean that they are equally strong/weak. This would be a little bit too trivial. And I even said that Killer is harder than Survivor, and it should also be more difficult. Otherwise, there would be 0 reason to play Survivor (at least when you dont want to play with friends), because then Killer would be the side with:

    • more variety
    • higher BP-gain
    • faster queue times

when both would be equally easy. Especially the BP-gain would be a thing, because many people defend Killer getting so much more BPs, because it is more difficult. And it is quite logical that the side with the 1 is harder than 4, but that does not make the side with 1 player really hard to play.

And me having a lot of hours does not mean that much IMO. I lose against players on both sides with far less hours. I think after a certain amount of time played the hours dont mean that much anymore, DBD is mostly about knowledge and at some point, you cannot have more knowledge than what the game can provide. (Also I know players with almost 10k hours who are not good at the game)

Or perhaps you're better than you think, and perhaps the killer players complaints are legitimate. I mean, the devs did improve the game in order to be more attractive for killers, such as removing infinites, nerfing exhaustion perks and the planned nerf to DS.

I don't see killer players complaining (much) about trivial things as much as survivors do, such as BBQ+Chili and the easily avoidable NOED. Nor do I see them complaining non-stop. How many threads do we get every week about tunneling, slugging, slugging for the 4k, NOED, nerf Freddy-Spirit-Death Slinger and camping? I would think that the survivor mains complain non-stop.

Could be possible, but like I said, I doubt it.

And well, you see Killers complain about various Perks all the time, complaining about Gen Speeds (which are not too fast), especially focussed on the early game ("Two Gens done in 2 minutes!!!11" *wins game with 2 Gens left*), complaining about SWF. Even tho, I dont say that all Survivor complaints are really justified, e.g. players who simply complain about BBQ or NOED without any reasoning should not be taken serious. But that goes for both sides, even tho the most tiresome are the SWF-complaints, because it always boils down to people thinking that playing with friends activates a god mode.

The difficulty in this case depends on your opponent. Of course it's easy to run behind someone and press M1, as it's easy to hold W and press Space at a pallet. But like everything in life you can master even an easy task to incredible levels. It doesn't matter how easy your goal is, if your opponent is really good you need to squeeze out every skill you have. And if survivors play very good it's necessary to make good decision in quick succession. This makes killer very exhausting, you don't need rocket science but you need to be tough and persistent.

tl;dr the difficulty depends solely on your opponent

Yeah, this is basically the point in every PvP-game. But, this does not mean that own mistakes dont matter. Like, I got farmed by some dude against a Pyramid Head while being tormented, I got downed with Punishment of the Damned and caged. That guy called the PH a tunneler, despite him being so dumb to get me. Same with Killers saying that they got "genrushed", after comitting to a chase for far too long and ignoring others working on Gens right next to them. Both are mistakes, but they try to blame the other side.

So while it is important what the other side does (because, like you said, it requires how much the player itself has to do), the player playing is the only constant variable in every game. And I feel some people dont really think about that and try to blame their own mistakes on the game/the other side.

And trust me, on both sides players make TONS of mistakes. But it is always easier to say that you lost because the others were probably in an SWF or because that Killer tunneled or whatever you wanna come up with.

Not a killer. I main survivor who dabbles in killer maybe once a month. Best not to generalize.

Also, just because you find the role easy doesn't mean the majority does. Not everyone is an elite at video games like you are.

I am pretty bad at most videogames to be honest. I also make tons of mistakes as Killer, still I get a decent amount of results.

Which means, that either I am less whiny than other players, or the Killer players who complain about the game nonstop are even worse than me.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

In b4 @Sluzzy comes in here to state that playing killer is easy.

To be fair - playing Killer IS easy. I know that you Killers like to have a Thread were you can talk about how HARD and SKILLFULL this game is as Killer, but the reality is that playing both sides is easy in this game because DBD is not difficult at all.

It is a complete casual game on both sides. Killer is harder than Survivor, but thats about it.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

You guys really think the people working at BHVR think "hey let's fix killers bugs first because why not?"

Things like survivors making no sounds, grabs not functioning since dedicated servers, killers like Nurse being extremely buggy, autoaim, etc have been complained for years now and we don't even have expectations of those being fixed.

It seems like some people are thinking that. Others also have said that the Desync-issue will be fixed, but Grabs stay bugged.

In reality, it is simply: If BHVR can fix something, they do it. If they dont know how to fix it/need to identify the problem, it will take time. This goes for both sides, but does not mean that they fix it for one specific side.

But I feel sometimes people want BHVR to wait with Bugfixes for one side until they are able to fix a Bug on the other side as well, lol. To grab OPs examples - Fixing of the Autohaven-Bus should wait until they also fix the Desync. Which would be just nonsense.

  • @Karao_Ke said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VT5D2ODEMAIB/my-image-281-29.png

I didn't include licensed killers since I wanted to make a tier list based off of BHVR's originality with their killers (visually).

I think going for this is more correct. Because the original Killers are BHVRs creativity, while the licensed Killers are just what they were in their respective franchise. So their design should not be rated high, because this is just how they look (and how BHVR HAS to do them).

Overall, I think that Spirit should be pretty high, she looks really good. Plague is also one of my favorites. It also depends if you want to take Cosmetics into account or not - with Cosmetics, Legion can become awesome, while Plague will probably downgrade a bit, since every Cosmetic looks roughly the same.

  • @burt0r said:

But hey at least they are probably gonna fix the desync problem as fast as possibly while leaving this for over a year.

And before someone says something like "that's not the same , yada yada yada", it literally is and maybe even more. A grab is, depending on the state of the survivor, worth not one but two hits when they go from healthy directly on the shoulder of the killer.

And is even the same problem of player to server connection but the other way around. The server sees the survivor already leaving the grabable position while on killer side it seems normal and than the server tells the killer "nope, too late sorry buddy".

Well, first of all, if they have a way to fix the Desyncs, it is just logical that they do. They dont really have a way to fix grabs. Its not like they fix the Desync-Problem because it affects Survivors.

Also, the Desync-problem is way bigger than cancelled grabs. Usually, grabs are quite rare, while Hits are the main reason why Survivors are put into Injured or Dying State. Quite logical that those are more important.

    @Topic:

It is most likely a Dedicated Servers-issue and it happens on both sides. As Survivor, you can also let go of the Gen/the Unhook and STILL get grabbed. I even had a situation where the Survivor complained about that, and in fact, it was like that: He wanted to unhook, I get a cancelled Grab (Animation started), then I get a grab, but he said that he cancelled it before. So basically first I got robbed, than the Survivor got robbed. Yay.

And since it is a Dedicated Server-Issue, I doubt it will be fixed anytime soon. Look at Dead Hard, they announced a few months ago that they are reworking it from the ground up to work on Dedicated Servers. This is long after the implementation of those Servers and it takes quite long - for just ONE Perk. Imagine how much effort it is to make grabs work (or not work, when the Survivor lets go fast enough) - it will tage ages, I guess.

My bad, didn't see that one, server hit validation sucks big time

Yeah it was also disabled in the same day within a few hours after it's release

Nope, it was active for a longer time. I think you missed some news. It was re-activated in December. But like I said, I dont know if it is currently active, someone said it got disabled a few days ago, but I could not find anything official (nor do I care, because it does next to nothing anyway).

  • Like I said, I dont know about currently. There was a thread saying that it was deactivated, but I did not see anything official about that.

But yes, a Hit Validation-system was implemented, a few months ago already.

  • ?

Hit Validation is active. Or at least was, dont know about currently. But it is so generous that it does not really matter.

  • Killers Ping should be visible in the Lobby. BHVR released a Hit Validation, it does next to nothing (I guess 1 out of 20 times a Hit does not connect), so next step would be to give the information of Ping to the Survivors so that they can at least see what will be going on in the game.

Rank shown in Lobby, they removed it because it was a Bug and also they did not want to implement it because Lobby-Dodging would increase. I liked the information, it basically gave me an information how much I have to try, e.g. if I saw another Survivor who was Rank 18, I knew that I will most likely not have time to search Chests or stuff like that.

But I totally understand why they removed it.

  • Honestly, it is not a big deal. It is quite rare, and if someone DCs, they sacrifice all their BPs they earned AND get a penalty. If they were in a SWF, all of them will have to wait.

Of course it sucks if that happens, but given how rare it is, there are other things that should have higher priority. In my 5,5k hours in DBD I have seen a DC for Hatch like 3 times.

  • I would not say it is drastically easier, because Killer is also easy as hell. But it is easier than Killer, yes.

  • @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/228364/killers-should-be-immune-to-flashlights-by-default-except

If you're using lightborn why in the world would you care? Flashlights are easily avoidable and more often than not you will catch a flashlighting survivor faster than one who runs away during a pallet break because they're losing seconds to get a blind

    ^ this.

The "best" ones are those who try this injured without Iron Will. Basically a down for their 500 Boldness-Points.

  • I dont think it is dying and it will not die anytime soon. For it to die, it has to become way worse over a longer period of time AND there is competition.

However, the game was getting better and better in 2020 and then it started to drop with negative things back to back:

Halloween-Event 2020-->One of the worst events ever. 2019 was already a letdown because you only had the Serum in the Rift, in 2020 there was no Serum at all. The most important event for a Horrorgame was no Event. Devs somehow made it enjoyable due to daily logins and the reduction of price for the Outfits, but it was no event.

Twins Chapter-->One of the worst Chapters, so many oversights - Twins not ready on release, Lockers counter Victor, insane camping potential... All oversights. Basically surprising how that happened after Blight.

Christmas Event-->Again, big letdown, just small login rewards, which were basically poor over the whole month. Codes were either for Charms (which are rarely used), Frosty Eyes (which were given out for free during the last years) or Sweaters (which was nice, for people who collect them)

Midchapter 18.5-->UI-Changes, Animation Changes, big criticism, messed up Desync, broken Emblems... A LOT.

In between: Shitstorm because of Colorblind Settings (which the Devs are working on, but due to poor communication, nobody knew about it until a person with a big number of followers called them out in Twitter).

All of these things really put a negative mark on the game, if lots of bad things happen in a row, this can damage the game. Like I said, it will not die anytime soon, but if that continues or major things are broken for a longer period of time AND there comes some competition...

As someone already posted a picture above it is very possible to pip and you can also die and not depip if you played well enough.

Yeah, and I already said that there is luck involved. You have to be good at chases AND have bad teammates to get their work done to also get Objectives.

And this for quite a bunch of games to actually get to Rank 1.

  • Thats new:

    Here's the video evidence,

I saw video where some trappers would place a trap in front of the hatch to trap a survivor using a key on it, so I always been curious if you can body block for the same result, and it definitely seems like it!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ7dJ-zrWq8&feature=youtu.be

I have no 100% evidence that the key Dwight had wasn't a green one, but the fact he was running towards the shack, that he tbagged and ran straight for the hatch and stayed there the whole time really makes me believe he had a purple or pink one, try it out yourself in future games to see if you can body block the hatch from survivors with keys and let me know if it actually works or he just had a green key.

Two months ago it was not possible. I guess its a Bug.

  • I like to watch Umbra and Tofu. In general, I like streamers who are just chill while playing the game, I dont need to see someone crying for minutes after they died in a game or a Survivor escaped.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I hit rank 1 again and I am terrible so, it doesn't mean that much.

With the bugged Ranking System? Then you must be pretty good. Not gonna lie, I have seen exactly one Rank 1-Survivor since Rank Reset and that was a Hacker.

    @Topic:

The Rank 5 and 6 Survivors are probably better because those are Red Ranks who either deranked to purple or did not manage to Rank up.

IMO the Ranking System does not mean more now, because when you die, you will have to get 3 Iridescent to rank up in Red Ranks. Can happen, but that is more luck than skill. Benevolence is quite easy to get (two safe Unhooks and heals and you are done). But you also need to have really good Chases and also hope that your teammates are not that efficient on Gens so that you can do Gens yourself to boost Lightbringer.

And this means basically that you need to escape, otherwise you blackpip or even depip. But escaping is not the hardest thing to do as Survivor.

  • Honestly, cant blame them. Event Offerings dont work on some Maps (Midwich, Lerys), so you dont even get the BPs from them.

Hits look absolutely horrible, yeah, this should have hit, but it does not make it better at all to basically have to guess if the Killer hits you or not or to predrop every Pallet.

And then, you cant even really pip up due to bugged Emblems.

So as Survivor you have - already small BP-Income compared to Killers (even smaller when Offerings dont work), really unfun games due to horrible Hits and not even any Rank Progress. Yay.

  • @Blueberry said:

That's just an untrue statement. If it's impossible how am I staying at rank 1 even?

I mean, the only Rank 1 Survivor I have seen was a Hacker. So you must be a god at this game, because most of the time dying lets you depip and surviving might only grant a Blackpip instead of a Pip (even tho, this is more rare).

Usually I make Rank 1 around 2-4 days after Rank Reset, currently I am barely Rank 4, since every Death is a depip (and most of the time would have been a Blackpip, since I am missing out 1 or at max 2 points overall).

    @Crowman said:

You can pip as a survivor without the unbroken emblem. I just did it.

While this is true, there is a lot of luck involved in that one. You have to get good Chases AND have teammates not being so good on Gens to do Objectives your own.

Unbroken is the last Emblem. They changed it to alphabetical order (for whatever reason..).

Erm, no. If you read my post you'll see most of my complaints are bugs. I'm fine with putting time in to learn a new killer but the amount of issues with nurse make it not worth while.

Even completely bugfree it would not be worth to learn Nurse. You can have almost the same results with Spirit, which is way easier to learn. Even if Nurse would be bugfree, you would still feel like a total fool when starting to play her, trust me.

Not saying that those Bugs should not be fixed, they 100% should. But I highly doubt that the experience for someone who plays Nurse for the first time would be that much better.

  • So you decide to play the by far hardest Killer to learn in the game and realize that it does take more than a handful of games to be somewhat good with her?

At this point, I dont know anymore...

  • No worries. I also dont want to give too much ######### to the Devs with that, in retrospect it is easy to say that some things were not optimal.

But yeah, because of some platforms, we always have to wait on Updates. This is also a point why PTB-Feedback will (most of the time) not be in the Live Version of the game.

  • Did I say that?

Even tho, I think that BHVR has overdone it with the platforms, I mainly stated that this is the reason why Patches need some time to be deployed. Different platforms have different restrictions which result into delays.

But honestly, we see quite a bunch of problems which happened because BHVR wanted to release DBD on every platform in existence. Game runs poorly on old consoles (which run games with way better graphics just fine), poor optimization are the big things. Smaller things like not being able to change Adepts are also a point.

Not saying that players from different platforms should not get to play DBD, but if you want to run before you can walk, more and more problems will pile up. (e.g. instead of fixing problems on PS4 and XBox, they released on Switch and Stadia..)

  • PS4, PS5, XBox One, XBox whatever the newest one is called, Switch, Stadia, Steam, Windows Store.

  • This happens when BHVR releases a game on X Platforms. Which should not have happened in the first place, but now its too late anyway, lol.

  • This is not really a Leatherface-problem, you can facecamp with every Killer and will make it really, really hard to get people off the hook. Most of the time at least one person will die, either the person hooked first or someone who traded hooks.

Leatherface is just a Killer with very good facecamping ability. But that does not mean that the Killer itself should get nerfs, rather the mechanic should get looked at.

  • This is correct, Nurse is not balanced. But people will defend her, just because she is difficult to learn, which does not mean that she is balanced.

There is just no real reason to learn Nurse, because you can simply play Spirit, who is almost as good as Nurse. Or you go full ez mode and play Freddy. Back in the day, Nurse was the only Killer who was able to compete with true infinites, Double Pallets and all this stuff.

Nurse how she is should not exist anymore, they should increase her Movement Speed and lower the strength of her power. But this will never happen, this would be pretty severe changes for a Character, even more than the Freddy-Rework.

But yeah, she is not balanced, not at all. Being hard to learn (and because of that played rarely) does not mean that something is balanced.

  • I doubt that you sacrificed 30 Jakes in 4 days. Jake is quite a rare Character, having even 30 Jakes in your lobbies sounds like a miracle.

Jake is simply the hardest face to get, because not many people are playing him. When switching in Lobby was possible, I always switched to Leatherface when a Jake was in the lobby, since this is gone, it has become a bit harder as well.

My best guess would be to play more Leatherface when a Jake-Cosmetic comes out or at the latest, when he is featured in the Archives.

(My last Jake was an Object-User I facecamped with Leatherface... At least I got it in style, lol)

  • Not really IMO. Yesterday I had a game with 3 Iridescent and no Unbroken, because of the Bug. This was barely enough for a Pip (12 points), but if I only had a Gold in one of those Emblems, I would have blackpipped. And without Unbroken, you have to have 3 Iridescent to pip up, this does not have anything to do with skill, this is also a big portion of Luck involved.

Also, this happened before Rank Reset (posted in another Thread as well):

    20210211005913_1.jpg

I got Unbroken, because I escaped, but the game sitll said "Nah, you did not pip", despite being enough points to pip. Should have played better I guess.

  • Mostly because of the Unbroken-Emblem, I guess. I always miss out by one or sometimes two Points for a Blackpip or Pip, so because of the missing Unbroken I either dont blackpip or dont pip. I just made it to Rank 4 with 3 Pips I think, which is taking quite long already.

Also, sometimes I get the Unbroken, and then this happens:

    20210211005913_1.jpg

This was before Rank Reset, but you can clearly see that I pipped up, but the game was like "Nah".

  • Only the most biased people would actually think that Iri Head is balanced.

  • Imagine dodging people because they wear the same cosmetics.

  • I mean, you should know that this Add On is one of the most broken Add Ons in the game. Personally, I only use mine for Keys, but would never think of using them in any other case, since this Add On should really be changed.

  • Nope, works only once. If you want the Bonus-BPs, you need to get another Hook.

Tbf in their QnA that said they don’t want to change the map much in the gameplay department

They will. You will see breakable Walls next to Windows, weakening those Loops once the Wall is broken. You will see shorter fences. You will see less Windows open.

I dont think that they will change the Pallets tho, since those are not that strong. Windows are the problem, but not the Pallets.

  • There is not really anything you can do against a good Nurse. Luckily most Nurse-players are not good, which is what "balances" her - she is broken with her abilities and the only thing that does not show it on a regular basis is that players dont bother to learn her (there is not really a point in learning her for a few weeks when you can just buy Headphones and play Spirit or just play Freddy).

But LoS-Breaking is something that might help, because the Nurse might start guessing where you are, which can allow for some distance. Also, if you see that something is working against her, dont do it all the time. E.g. running at the Nurse while she is charging her blink looked promising? Great, but dont do that all the time, she might adapt and simply blink while looking downwards at some point and you get hit.

So, yeah.. atlernate your strategies, break LoS and hope that she is not good (hoping that the player who is playing her is not good speaks for itself how healthy Nurse is, eh? :D )

  • 4 Realms left to rework (Swamp, Haddonfield, Coldwind, Red Forest), so I guess it will be reworked in either Chapter 19 or Midchapter 19.5, if they keep their current speed of reworking Maps.

  • Yes, can confirm. Did not work on Midwich.

Did also not work on Lerys yesterday.

Not sure about survivor queues, but in my experience (EU, PC, crossplay on) killer queues in the morning take 30min+, about 10min in the afternoon and a few minutes in the evening. Midnight is almost always instantaneous. I guess it just greatly depends on the time of day you play, and maybe your rank? Like someone said, with crossplay off you often get into a game very quickly but it's the same survivors over and over again. I've made a couple of friends this way haha!

Yeah, it depends on your area and the time of the day and also your Rank.

Like, I have long Killer Queues the whole day except for the evening, then they are instant. For Survivor, I have instant Queues but longer Queues in the evening. However, my longest Survivor Queues are not even close to my regular Killer Queues during the day. PC, EU and Crossplay on aswell.

However, I have seen Streamers in NA who have really, really long Survivor Queues during the time they are streaming, which is the reason they mostly stick to Killer. So the region seems to be pretty important.
