You actually think reversed controls are a good idea? there would be more disconnects against clown than Legion, Nurse and Freddy put together.
Honestly I haven't seen the video, so I'm going just off of what I've read here...
I like that idea. Saints Row 3 had a boss fight that pulled that gimmick, one of my favorites in the series. Would love to see it in pvp. So he hits you with the fart jar and suddenly down is up and up is down? That sounds like fun to play against and with.

The true value of DS was and still is guaranteeing an obsession in the match to deter tunneling someone straight out of the game.
Not sure how some people can't seem to comprehend this.
With the DS nerf there are now more games without an obsession and that's a problem.
I tried. He is completely incapable of that level of comprehension. He's firmly decided what he thinks, and no amount of logic or reason will ever make him second guess it.

If I see someone being tunneled in mucho team I kill myself at first hook.
Then I sincerely hope we are never teamed together when I am playing Survivor. Can't abide selfish people who don't know the meaning of teamwork.

you have to keep in mind that killers proxy camp someone unhooks and the killer immediately goes after the survivor sometimes its not even 10 seconds of a hook. when a survivor is hooked that's 3 people on gens then someone has to save the survivor so its 2 people on a gen and some survivors are not in a team so there are times where multiple survivors stop what the are going to unhook so no-one is on a gen
That's why I bring Kindred. Most underrated perk in the game.
As for proxy camping? If he's watching the hook he's not patrolling gens. If you unhook someone and know the killer is there and don't have BT, the least you can do is take the protection hit so your teammates live.
And yes, I'm aware that sometimes you get crap teammates who will farm you, unfortunately there isn't a fix for that that doesn't punish everyone else.

Omg who’s the dramatic one here :D
please tell me what tactics and tools you use to stop tunnelling, I’m really interested.
We all have played killer here and know for a fact that if you are determined to remove a s specific player from the match ASAP a stub from DS won’t stop that.
If I see someone's on my team being tunneled, I run after them, try and take the protection hit, or pop gens to get their attention. If they are downed I try to save or delay the killer enough for them to wiggle free.
Don't you?

And I stand by what I said. Only difference is that unlike you, I understand that if a killer has every intention of TUNNELING, even if the survivor has began to ‘tap’ a gen, the intention is there and therefore it is guess what? Still tunneling.
So if DS is suppose to punish tunneling, then the timer should not deactivate. Unless the survivor has made progress on their objective, which is what has been pivoted as the only pre-requisite for it to work. Hiding and getting to a safe spot does not count as “progression”.
“Go ahead and tunnel” actually it’s more of a joke, but I can see that aside from not sharing the same views we don’t share the same humor. So I’ll leave you with this. You do you and I’ll keep doing me. Cuz at the end of the day we both know that this isn’t the end to this discussion. Tunneling is still being abused till this day, even with DS. So I’ll go ahead and have a conversation with non-biased players who understand both sides. Thanks
Ah yes, the classic "if you don't agree I'm right you must only play one side" argument. Fun stuff.

I took matters into my own hands, I flipped to Lucio and stick near the middle of the team due to his aura effect. Lucio not meta? Whatever, peeling for your healer has apparently never been meta. 🤣

IKR? Support main since launch here (makes sense, my wow main was priest and resto druid). When I am tunneled in OW though, I just put up the standard "no protection no heal" sign, i.e. switch to damage boost. :)

I knew it was going to be bad but not like this. Apparently killers don’t have the Trickster with overpowered meta perks yet so the amount of slugging and tunneling is now an epidemic with all the meta killers and meta perks. Have only seen one Trickster today. Decisive strike can now be exploited by killers and it is a major issue.
Can’t play with the new character because killers see no obsession and that means tunnel each one down. Slugging is running rampant in a majority of matches.
The killer objective is way too easy to do for majority of matches. DS now needs some desperate buffs to make it fun when using it. Survivor agency should be as important as killer agency.
I Missed you :)

No one is talking about ‘potato their way” to a stun. But nice way to again change the argument that was actually being had.
Guess I’ll just potato to a tunnel since the devs just made it easier.
Here is what you said:
"The difference is that the killer’s next move is going to determine whether you can use DS or not. Or should the survivor just wait what 30-50 seconds just to make sure the killer isn’t going to play like scum? No thanks."
So to you, the difference (and clearly problem given the numerous complaints you have lodged here) is that you now have to pay attention to the killer's next move, which means prior to the nerf, you wouldn't do so, which is root vegetable thinking if I ever saw it.
Go ahead and tunnel. I don't care. It's a valid tactic as per the dev team, so have fun. If you can catch the Survivor 4 times, they deserve the sacrifice. Or, if they are smarter, they'll use their perks, surroundings and teammates to deny the sacrifice. Just that simple.

How can you compare looping to camping and tunnelling. Looping generates points for both players. It’s one of the most part of a trial.
Tunneling is depriving a player out of taking part in the match. It’s not fun to be tunnelled and it’ll more than likely leave the player earning little to no blood points.
Why should I have to completely stop playing survivor because rank 1 killers won’t stop tunneling.
You don't have to completely stop playing. Nobody is stopping you from playing unless they are at your house unplugging the controller or hacking you, being over dramatic isn't going to change the facts.
Tunneling has existed and will exist in every multiplayer game that isn't a 1 shot insta-kill scenario. I get tunneled all the time playing support in Overwatch, and playing Survivor here. I deal with both the same way, change tactics, use the tools provided in game, and work with my team. The new ds still works the same in instances where you are being tunneled.
Also in this game particularly being tunneled out means losing 4 chases. You say looping is one of the most fun parts of the game, well there's 4 opportunities to loop your heart out. Bring ds and you get 5.

At that specific point tunneling is what it is: tunneling.
You can keep twisting the story but it ain’t going to work. Especially when I was the one who tested it and I meant to tunnel the survivor out, I wasn’t trying to avoid them.
I'm not twisting anything. I can only go by what you type, not whatever thoughts you may have had at the moment.
I expect smart Survivors to pay attention to their surroundings and yes, pay attention to what the killer is doing, to determine whether or not it is a good idea to do something to remove ds. It'll take more thought now, rather than just always being there to use, you've got to plan out when you need it and when you can just hop on a gen/totem/heal a teammate. If your major complaint is about the thought required, I don't know what to tell you. I guess sorry you don't get to potato your way to a stun anymore.

I don't bring DS because it really does not stop tunneling at all ds is useless because after dsing the killer he/she gets pissed off then tunnels you more and your lucky if he doesn't camp you that why I don't I don't bring it
but sometime when there Obsession killer play more fair may not tunnel that person fresh off the hook
but to me ds was never anti tunneling perk it was I'm going to piss the killer off perk so if I want fair game on both sides why run it.
Ds totally stops tunneling... When used correctly. The problem is people expect the perk to do all the work. You gotta manage the stun time, get to a teammate or good loop, or even just hide.

Sure your argument works for coordinated SWFs but regardless of the match result the amount of people I see just get run down off hook and removed around 3-4 gens left just because they are the "weak link" in solo queue is just wrong. They barely get to play the game and survivor queues are so bad at night that they probably wait like 7-10 minutes for that experience.
Why aren't you helping them when you see them get tunneled? You don't have to be in any sort of swf to see a teammate getting chased and either try a save or at least to take the protection hit so they can make the next loop.
Survivor queues are long because there are less and less people willing to play killer. Balancing the game around the worst Survivors would be the best way to make sure that trend continues unabated.

Too bad there's no patch for human stupidity. I'm sorry you get ######### teammates, really I am, but I don't want a game balanced around the stupidest players.
-
@Crypticghoul said:
Tunneling just needs to be looked at in general by BHVR. It's stupid that the only things deterring tunneling are good will and the fear of the survivor MAYBE having two perks (BT, DS) that extend chases off hook. There should really be a non-DS base kit tunnel deterrent.
There is. It's called teamwork and is available for free on all Survivors, doesn't even take a perk slot, just people willing to work as a team to win a game.

No it doesn’t, but the one where (yet again repeating myself) the survivor manages to get to a safe spot and the killer tracks them down, ignoring the rest can and does.
As I said in an earlier post, I tried it and I didn’t even need to wonder if they still had DS because they had already been on a gen for at least a few seconds after I didn’t see them, when they were unhooked.
It is what it is. You can continue to say that it’s not that common, bottom line is DS was changed under the same circumstantial scenarios even tho many of us never even got to see DS as a stun, because it was that easy to counter. Now they have just made it even easier to go the scummy route should one choose to.
Ok. I agree, sometimes you can be rescued, get where you think you are safe, and get hit... So? What exactly makes that different from old ds? Y'all are acting like the sky is falling over nothing.
As for your example of actual game play. You hooked a survivor, they got free and managed to progress a gen, so you weren't tunneling, why should they still get the benefit of the anti-tunnel perk?
-
@NekoGamerX said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2063840#Comment_2063840
because then some killers don't tunnel sometime. I mean I never use a obsession perk I shouldn't have to what will it hurt if there be obsession in match even and there no obsession perks in play?
just admit it you and all killers like it when there no obsession so you can blindly hard tunnel and camp the first survivor you see when there 4 or 5 gen still left just so you can have an easy game.
I never camp, but I will totally tunnel in almost every match. I have no problem admitting it, hell check my post history and you'll see one of the only threads I ever started was specifically to point out that tunneling is good. Obsession or not, if I see a weak link, I'm going for it. Nothing personal, just 1v3 is a lot easier to win than 1v4 is.
As for the rest? I don't see why either side should get an advantage they aren't willing to bring a perk for. I don't expect gens to regress at ruin levels unless I bring ruin. I don't expect an obsession unless I bring an obsession perk. Just that simple.
-
I've never had someone make a meme just to stawman an argument, it's a brand new day.
You claim ds is useless just because you can get an obsession using other perks. That appears to be your entire argument.
I never said ds was op, or to "git gud" I merely pointed out that the fact you can use DS solely for the obsession benefit means it is not useless, as you claimed. Is it going to proc in every single match? No, are you going to get Slugged in every single match? Also no, yet people still bring ub for the times they are. If you don't see the use, don't bring it. Won't affect me either way.
-
@Chatkovski said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2064097#Comment_2064097
I don't understand the usefulness of all these numbers since this is not the gen tapping trial here (which is probably legitimate, I read an interesting topic about normal VS Ruin regression speed). So I am repeating myself.
- You consider DS to be used to punish a killer who is tunneling.
- Quick interactions are perfectly achievable when faced with a killer who is tunneling. Knowing how to manage both is precisely what we call playing well, not playing stupid.
- Since the killer is tunneling, performing these interactions does not justify deactivating a perk serving to punish the killer who is tunneling.
And this is true no matter what you think of gen tapping, whatever its reality, whatever its usefulness. I'll say something absurd to be understandable: DS shouldn't punish gen tapping, even if gen tapping didn't exist.
DS is used to punish a killer who is tunneling, not to arbitrarily punish a Survivor playing correctly despite facing a killer who is tunneling. And a killer who is tunneling a survivor who gen tap, is still a killer who is tunneling a survivor. A killer who is tunneling a survivor who is unhooking another survivor is still a killer who is tunneling. A killer who is tunneling a survivor who heals another dying survivor for less than a second is still a killer who is tunneling, etc.
What you want, and what currently is, is that a Survivor that the Killer is tunneling can do nothing but... be tunneled. Now, so that DS is not unnecessary and even harmful, the survivor has an interest in the killer tunneling it. It is absurd, the objective is precisely the opposite: that the killer does not do that, and if he does, that he be punished. And I'm not even talking about the impact of that nerf when the killer is snowballing: a survivor with DS isn't allowed to help the team.
It's always that with the killers: heads or tails, you should always lose against them, and if you lose, it is necessarily that you are stupid.
This nerf is abusive, and it is certainly one of the worst in terms of game design. I stop here and will not answer any more. My opinion is pretty clear: DS may deserve a change, but definitely not this one. Gen tapping may deserve a response, but not by disabling a perk used to respond to tunneling.
Hit the ds stun first, tap the gen during the window after the killer has been stunned

You call my argument weak, when you yourself have no argument. Other than pinning this to a rank 20 which I am not, nor are the people that I have played with that this happens to. Nice try tho.
The situation where someone gets rescued, and then runs to a gen with 0 progress and just taps it. That's not something that happens.

But I’m still right that equipping DS does nothing in most games.
The benefits you mention can be gained without equipping it.
So in other words it’s pretty pointless to bring DS in most games.
So by your logic Inner Strength does nothing. After all you can use self heal or get healed by a teammate, so it's worthless, right?

It doesn’t matter how often it happens. I assume probably a lot, considering most survivors want to work on the objective once they feel it is safe to do so.
Also, nobody asked how many times DS was abused, because it wasn’t that common for some killers who knew how to counter it. But here we are now.
It does matter. If you are tapping, not working on, just tapping a 0% gen Ds or the lack thereof isn't the problem, your inability to understand the game mechanics is. I get you had to come up with a situation where you felt you had an argument, but the situation you did come up with can only be described as some newbie rank 20 nonsense that Survivors don't actually do in games they want to win. The fact that you had to come up with such a ridiculous example honestly just goes to show how weak your original argument is.

Yeah but this whole thing started with the effectiveness of equipping the perk DS. So you agree that equipping the perk DS is pointless in most games?
Not at all. It's a 5s stun against a killer who finds you right after you are unhooked. That alone makes it a good perk, the passive bonus of having an obsession to make the killer think twice about how he plays is just icing on the cake. The active ability is in fact, so good that it created the entire passive benefit of survivors running obsession perks. I can't think of a single other perk that has done the same. I run it every Survivor match.
-
@Mugombo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2064413#Comment_2064413
So you clearly agree that the passive benefit you are on about isn’t gained by just equipping DS. It’s gained by having an obsession in the game which can be done in many other ways.
I never claimed it was exclusive to ds, just that you received a benefit. There are multiple ways to get an obsession, which is why there is no need for BHVR to make an obsession default in every match. If Survivors want there to be an obsession, they have plenty of ways to make that happen, all thanks ultimately to the power of DS.
-

Of course. Doesn't change anything however.
Again, you equipped the perk, you got the benefit. Sure, you could have used a different one for nearly the same result, and you would have still benefitted, that doesn't mean you don't benefit if you equip ds, just that you have more ways to gain that passive benefit than just equipping ds.

Which one is it because I know damn well 0% is that... zero, nada.
I never said a killer shouldn’t be able to stop a survivor off a gen, I said DS shouldn’t deactivate if that killer intentionally sought them out. And I also specificed that im specifically talking about touching a gen, at 0%.
How often are you tapping gens at 0, and why?
