People abusing DS was the game. See how not great that sounds? Everything can be "the game" if you make it, doesn't mean it's beneficial or balanced.
Right here, where you compared different movement speeds to ds being abused.

So what, you don't think it's fair the killers have different movement speeds now? Talk about an entirely different conversation.

It still doesn't change what I asked, and it still sounded condescending, at best.
Again, 30 seconds against most killers. Against high mobility killers it may be closer to 20. That's the game.

I said 30 seconds against most killers. You respond by stating it doesn't give you 30 seconds against 3 specific killers, so it seemed you didn't understand the word "most"

DS still does it's job poorly yes, since people say it is an anti tunneling perk, when everyone who knows the game enough knows it isnt.
Also it's she.
But it is.
If you are tunneled, you hit it, and get a 5 second stun, which translates to about 30 seconds of running away in a straight line before most killers can catch up to you, more if you play smart and run to a good loop.

It would help since I wouldnt need to use a perk slot for kindred and I would be able to use a healing perk, since some people seem to think that would be helpful
I carry kindred and still have room for inner strength. Why don't you?

Or like I talked with you before, make solo Q more on pair with SWF, example making kindred base kit. You didn't have an issue with that.
I still don't have an issue with that, but it won't fix your problem. It won't "make people heal you" as you asked for. It won't stop you from losing if you have bad teammates, it'll just show you them being useless while you sit on the hook
-
@Marigoria said:

That's like just telling killers to play survivor if they dont like going against SWF. it isn't a productive discussion. Like it isn't when devs tell the playerbase to play another game.
Not really.
You seem to have a problem playing games where you are not fully in control of your own success. Killers don't have that problem.
-

I'm pretty adapted, I'm rank 1 all the time, just not right after rank reset. It still makes bad team mates not enjoyable to deal with. The game is a 4v1, it shouldn't feel like a 4v1 as in 1 surv vs 3 survs and a killer.
I shouldn't be left with my staff in my hand and nobody to protect me when playing Mercy in Overwatch, sometimes you just get bad teammates, again if it's that big a deal to you, there's a whole other role without any teammates to worry about.
-
Seems to be more related to the pallets than the perk, so you're probably good. Hopefully if the issue is the perk they'll temp disable it rather than ban people who may not have known about the bug.
-
@Marigoria said:

There were already potatoes in red ranks. 99% of them exist there because they got carried by SWF.
And then there's the 1% that refuse to adapt to the situation, and instead want the devs to fix it for them
-
@Marigoria said:

The issue isn't climbing, I'm rank 1. The issue is game enjoyment. Why should I lose, not because of my skill, but because other people are bad?
Because they are your teammates, and this is a team based game. If you don't want to have your success partially determined by teammates, play the role that doesn't have any.
-
@Marigoria said:

The same way perks are programmed around bad survivors/killers.
Example: Old ruin being changed because skill checks were too difficult for new players.
Which is a change I do not believe should have happened. Lead directly to more potatoes in red ranks.

as someone else pointed out, you said:
"Yes, and how that is going to make people with DS heal me in solo Q? "
"How is that going to make people heal me"
You've gotten answers and solutions and don't like them because you yourself have to do something, but you want everyone else to cater to you. You're not interested in solutions you want everyone else to solve the problem for you.
That was me :)
And yeah, also about where I decided the cause was lost. Expecting the devs to program around bad teammates is ridiculous, and apparently the only solution accepted by some.
-
I play both, probably 60/40 killer, though on weekends when my friends are free we'll do our own comms-free swf (4 different systems, none of us on comms because we're too old to ######### with discord/team speak/etc) so it's probably flipped those weeks.
-
@Marigoria said:

Of course they have free will. The killers have too. That's why perks need to encourage team play. New DS doesn't. That is the issue.
Plenty of perks encourage team players, one that doesn't isn't really a big deal. The only people who will refuse to heal you just to keep their ds aren't likely to be team players in any other way, changing the perk won't change that.
-

Yes, and how that is going to make people with DS heal me in solo Q? I feel like you missed the point on what I was trying to say.
Just because someone isnt being tunneled, doesn't mean they wont want to save their DS.
"Yes, and how that is going to make people with DS heal me in solo Q? "
"How is that going to make people heal me"
That's the issue. You can't make people do anything. They have free will, and can choose to heal you and be a team player, or be selfish. If you want something to make your teammates do what you want, multiplayer may not be for you.

You mean like slugging a survivor and letting them bleed out? That's not holding the game hostage at all.
You're right. It isn't. As stated repeatedly by the mods and devs here, the bleed out timer makes it so that the game isn't being held hostage, because it has a specified end, that end being when you die. It's still scummy to do, but not taking the game hostage.

Exactly! If the killer wants an easy game I give it to him/her. And then, I find a better killer to have fun. Yesterday a huntress tunnel a surv twice and then I run in front of her to let her kill me. She didn't know what to do :D. She slug me and finally when she hooked me, I killed myself. 1 min. later I was playing a very good match against a good bubba.
You do realize that will just lead to them tunneling more, right? I mean it works so well for them, why stop?
-

I'm in eastern europe servers. If you don't play there I can´t explain it to you without being blocked here (3 times yet). But now, I let the killer kill me and continue with the next match, and I have fun
I remember now, you are the one who said your tactic for dealing with tunneling was quitting on the first hook, which yeah, definitely don't need a perk to do that.

And now you can see more prove thyself than DS. I'm not saying it doesn't do what it has to do, I'm saying the perk is trash now.
If the nerf to it that made it so that you couldn't use it to get progress without a care is so bad as to make it trash, then I have to wonder how often you are actually tunneled to the point where you need a perk to deal with it.
-
@Northener1907 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066543#Comment_2066543
Because it is, let me explain.
Old DS was also not perfect perk but 60 seconds protection was not bad. But it nerfed now. Now if you wanna protection you have to be useless.
And people keep saying it is anti-tunnel perk. No! It never was anti-tunnel perk. Because if killer tunnel you DS cant punish him. Killer will get just one stun and that is nothing actually. If i get out one survivor i will take risk and i will get just one stun for 5 seconds. And then i can keep chase and kill this survivor. If we wanna this perk really " anti-tunnel " it need buff now. Make stun time longer and make killer blind and make it for all hooks. And then it will be really anti-tunnel and killer will get punish for tunnelling. If killer wont tunnel perk will be useless, so fair. And if survivor do gen, heal or another stuff that mean surv is not tunnelling and surv will lose ds power for this hook. But for now it is just forcing you to be useless. And i saw so many killers just acting like leave and when survivor start something coming back to tunnel. Killers abuse it now. So that perk is waste of slot for now. If tunnel problems get more they will need buff it.
So basically you want a version of ds where it does all the work for you, you don't have to worry about when to use it, or what to do after using it.
That's not how perks work.
-

I dunno. It's just been happening a lot recently, might just be bad luck.
Start playing doc. They hide, you laugh.
-
For total totems, sure. For remaining totems? Not something I agree with. I think that should be rolled into a perk like small game or detective's hunch. Everyone gets the notification when a hex is broken, so even as solo you can see what's going on already. Maybe add the notification when dull totems are broken as well, that way you can count those yourself if you don't want to bring the perk.
-
@Raccoon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066155#Comment_2066155
The perk now requires more situational awareness and its misuse/inability to use now falls squarely on survivor decision making/agency.
If you cut all the foolish nonsense about how gen tapping shouldn't count as progression (lol) out of this topic, people are literally knowingly deactivating their DS within its active time frame and then complaining that said deactivation has lead them to a position of weakness/losing.
It's pretty amusing, as it exposes a crazy lack of game sense and understanding regarding new DS.
That does appear to be the primary issue.
Old ds was there for you whenever you needed it, no thought required.
New ds has to be managed like any other "second chance" perk. You have to know not only how to capitalize on the stun, but when to try and keep it, vs when to leave it alone and take the hook.

Honestly, I think just that would be a massive improvement.
I was looking at perks that could be easily implemented to base kit without making it too much. Maybe Kindred, Buckle Up (the amount of times I go to a random to get them up and they aren't even recovered is way too much. This is not an issue in SWF specially on voice chat. I don't think it would make it too much to be able to see how much someone is recovered without having to be right there).
I'm fully on board with making kindred base kit, and not just because it frees up a slot for me. Thing I see a lot is people demanding buffs, and not actually having ideas on what to buff, they just want to throw the word around like a cure-all. Glad to see you aren't like that.
Kindred and Buckle up both seem like they would be good additions to basekit without being something that breaks swf play to the point where the killer may as well afk the whole match. Honestly that's probably enough. It won't fix selfishness and stupidity, but there's not really a way to fix that without putting the Survivor experience "on rails" where all the major decisions are made for them.
Most of the Survivor games I play are as solo, even when I play with friends they are all on different platforms so our communication consists of messages in a group chat before and after matches. That's why I don't take people seriously when they claim solo is absolutely hopeless, like that other fella was. I win (3E or better) over half the Survivor matches I play solo, and am in red ranks, so it's definitely possible.

@Marigoria said:

That's where I have an issue. Why is solo Q always being neglected? I would consider myself better than average (at least I hope so, I have a few thousand hours in this game), and I feel like sometimes it doesn't really matter how good you are in solo Q if everyone else is below average.
Even in red ranks, a lot of people got carried there by their SWF, when they below in greens/purples.
I have said this before and I'll say it again: IMO solo should be buffed to be comparable with SWF, and then balance everything accordingly.
All these problematic perks, are really only an issue in SWF.
What specifically would you propose to "buff" solo queue players?
-
When it's down to 2 and they do that, it's because each one is hoping the other is caught and hooked first so they can hatch out. Likely not so much a swf thing as a solo Survivor thing, as there are a lot of people who play Survivor and think that since they didn't queue as a team they don't have to play for the benefit of the team they are in.
-
Here's a novel idea.
Don't use DS unless you know you can get away, or even better, save for after you've been hooked twice. That way, the killer will be surprised when you do hit it. Also don't do what a Survivor tried in a match with me last night and waste the stun timer tbagging. Use the time you get wisely. Perks are not there to replace smart plays, but to enhance them.
-
@Marigoria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2067550#Comment_2067550
So a perk makes someone obsession, which should be a thing in all matches anyway.
What if they tunnel me again after second hook? Where is the DS there to help me? It's gone. Not much help in anti tunneling is it?
So it's only useful to you if you can use it every time?
Seems like a lot of people want a button that they can press to stop all tunneling, instead of having a perk that they can use intelligently to get away from a tunneling killer (which is what ds actually is) maybe it's a vocabulary thing, where people believe "counter" means something that always works 100% without further input needed.

First, I play solo so I have no one helping me so there goes that argument. Plus, I rarely stay on the same gen because of killer pressure,,,you know the way the game is meant to be. When a killer hooks one survivor because they didnt like how we pallet stunned them or lead them on a long chase so they tunnel like its cool. I cant kill a killer theres a big difference. Tunneling is lazy game play to remove someone,,plus its kind of stupid because I will struggle on the hook (where I normally do not ever) simply to waste the tunnel/camping killer while gens are being done around them,,,so it really makes no sense to tunnel or camp for both sides.
Whether you queue solo or with friends, if you do so as a survivor, you have 3 teammates, that's just how the game is designed.
And again you ascribe a motive that just doesn't really exist. Killers are very unlikely to tunnel just because they got stunned, believe it or not people who play killer tend to understand the mechanics of the game just as well as, if not more than the average Survivor main. They tunnel to build pressure and get better odds to play against.
So three things.
1 please recognize that as Survivor, you play on a team, maybe if you are a team player, they will be as well.
2. Don't take it personally that the killer realized 3v1 is a lot easier than 4v1 and so tunneled a survivor out. By all means do everything you can to stop it, being taking protection hits, flashlight or pallet stunning the killer, or just leaving extra scratch marks to confuse during the chase, but please stop taking things personally.
3. Always struggle, don't just ######### on hook, that lowers your score and helps make your team lose.

Also, I find it funny that in these insane scenarios, it ALWAYS has to be the guy that just got unhooked that taps the generator, never the one that did the unhooking, that would make too much sense for the guy without DS to tap it, to save the guy with DS his protection.
Or even tapping the gen after hitting ds, when you've got an opportunity thanks to the stun and could reasonably get a tap off on your way to a better loop or teammate.

Why would you tap a 0% progressed generator right after being unhooked though? What's the flawed logic there? It's still a tap, it still gives a tiny tiny bit of progress. 1 second of progress is still 1/80th of a generator, which is 1.25% progression on that particular gen
If you want to see how this particular strawman was filled, just go back a few pages, you can stop when he admitted it was just some BS he made up :)

I believe the last remark I had for you was the laugh I got at seeing you resort to "killer main" bs when you couldn't adequately defend your argument. Now here we are full circle with you trotting out the idea of Survivors being such potatoes that they tap gens that have 0 progress. As far as your personal preference on whether or not I comment? Sorry, public forum, that's how it works. But hey, keep bringing out the same tired strawman over and over, it's fun seeing you repeatedly lose the same argument to different people.
-
First you would have to convince quite a few killer mains and people like me who play the full game, and honestly I am not convinced. Every killer, with the possible exception of Trickster has more than a few great 4 perk builds. The only place they consistently underperform is against super sweaty swf squads, and frankly an extra perk slot isn't going to trump the comms advantage.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066504#Comment_2066504
I understand that my "tapping" argument is different from OP's but if you understand that, then you would also understand that tapping a gen for 1 second, while it was sitting at 0% (meaning not one soul worked on it) isn't considered in any way shape or form progression. That is absurd.
You may want to look at it from the pre-requisite lense of what "deactivates" DS, but facts are facts, I am pretty sure the team would have escaped without that survivor's 1 second touch on that gen.
If the gen was at 40% (sure) if the gen was at 50% (most definitely) people on here think 0% is actually progressing the objective. Which I just have to laugh at.
That man is gonna run out of straw eventually.

usually the killer always goes after me first, what should i do instead of bringing vigo's shroud? When I do gens that I just spawned right next to with two or three survivors, the killer goes after me first
I'd ignore the shrouds entirely, go with bp offerings instead and don't sprint burst at the beginning. Start off walking, keep quiet until you see the killer, and hit the gen after he passes. He'll likely get back to it last, so you will have bought yourself good time to fix the first gen.

The game is being talked about a lot. At least by dbd players but you could be right the game could fall down in flames soon enough. I personally don't want it to not because I want to play that but because I want BHVR to have passion in dbd again and feel a need to try harder in this game
I have no idea how home sweet home will do, that was the other fella. I didn't enjoy it myself, but others might, and I honestly hope it does well. I agree good competition will force BHVR to do better.

It wasn't the fact that they couldn't attract any players it was the fact that they couldn't advertise the game that well plus it was on the discord store when that was a thing and barely anyone knew about it. If it was on steam it may of had a better chance of surviving. I don't know all of the logistics behind it but I'm assuming that it being on the discord store rather than steam had something to do with the life of the game as it wasn't able to attract in as many players. Some people don't play games that are exclusive to anything other than steam such as Epic Games Store for example.
Aot of people dislike epic due to their chinese connection (though they still have literally millions of players). Discord on the other hand has a massive built in customer base already without that downside.
The best advertising for games is word of mouth. Look at Among Us for example. I've never once seen an ad for that game, yet literally everyone I know has played it at least a few times, including my sweet old granny (seriously)

Imo, the only reason last year died was because it stayed exclusive to discord for way too long it didn't have the player base to sustain itself and they ended up losing money so they couldn't make any good or big updates.
So it died because they couldn't attract enough players to be profitable? That doesn't do much to instill confidence that it was any good.
