If he is going to the 2 stage/dying you should save him when you are 100% going down, this will remove a lot of pressure cuz if you dont save him 2 people are gonna be on the hook, if you save him the killer will have to choose between you and him
If he choose me, the one guy escape, if he choose him my teammates probably are gonna get me up on the ground and the guy if good can escape, like we have 2 exaustions perks that you can use when you get off the hook DH and SB, Just by the little boost is enought to go to an loop
And even if he chase the guy and my teammates dont get me up, it still extended more the chase that its much more worth it then just let him go to the second stage/die
If he is going to the second estage/dying saving him have not downside at all
Fair enough, if he's right about to go to the entity it may be worth it. I didn't see that part in your initial post, and so I had a flashback to many solo Survivor games where I've been on first hook and watched a survivor being chased head straight for me with the killer at his heels.

I want to be able to play the game. Not sit on a hook or sit on the ground. It's abundantly clear that you don't play both sides.
I do, I just don't expect to be able to tell the other side not to do things I personally don't like.
Same in any other multiplayer game. Tunneling exists in every pvp game, it's only here I've seen it complained about so much. If I'm tunneled out quickly, I don't blame the killer, I look at my own plays and my team first to see what we could have done better.

What chase? I had no ability to start running earlier or do anything to extend that chase because I was... you know... ON A HOOK
So you were unhooked and your teammate had time to run, decided not to stick around and take a protection hit for you, but you had no time at all?

I only agree with your anti-camping idea because I've been saying that for years.
But you're suggesting perks from Jake to avoid being tunneled... You shouldn't need perks to avoid being tunneled.
I'm not looking for invincibility. I want the killer to be actively seeking out other people. Spread the pain. Don't focus on only one person.
You want to be able to decide for the killer who and how they fulfill their objectives. That's just not going to happen. It doesn't exist in any other multiplayer game, why would it here?

Yeah that’s true, but that’s having an obsession in the game is helping against tunnelling. Not DS.
Still DS, just benefiting more from the passive ability than you are the active one.

Yep. Because when I get knocked back down within 3 seconds of getting off the hook, that's MY failure. Yep. ALL mine.
I mean, it literally means you lost a chase. I don't know why you want to pretend otherwise, but it's not like the killer can just snap his fingers and you appear on his shoulder, he still needs to catch you and knock you down.

I shouldn't have to run a obsession perk just so there obsession in game I don't use any meta perks when I play I still win matches
fun you say don't cry here ( which I'm not ) I'm express my opinion that what people do on forum so get a clue.
"I shouldn't have to run a obsession perk just so there obsession in game"
Why the hell not? You want an obsession, run an obsession perk. Why should you get the benefit of a perk without anyone on your team using it?

@Breque said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2060662#Comment_2060662
Nah it dont, in an chase you can do a lot of things that will desactivate ds, if you are being really tunnel what the game basically does is, Ah it would be good to you to do that just as like, healing your self in the middle of the chase/healing someone that its 99% in the dying state, gen tapping, unhooking someone, but if you that we are just going to disable your perk so play like an bot pls (:
The only thing that really does make sense is cleanising totens and sabo hooks
If you are unhooking people while being chased, you suck as a teammate. That's a textbook unsafe unhook. Why would you do that?
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2063708#Comment_2063708
Because the killer can still tunnel them. Why should they be allowed to tunnel of DS is supposedly an anti tunnel perk now?
Why can't the Survivor use DS before he taps the gen? If the gen is at 0% as you stated then it won't make a difference game-wise, so why not use the better tactic of hitting the stun before you worry about a gen that isn't even regressing?
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2063630#Comment_2063630
If a survivor taps a gen that is at 0% they aren’t contributing to the team.
If a survivor taps a gen at 0% they are just waisting their own time, why should they get anything for that?
-
@twistedmonkey said:
The DS timer lasts 60s and in that time a kicked gen will regress 15s.
I see this as a non issue tbh for how little time it will save tapping that gen. If you end up in a chase after an unhook and manage to use DS other gens should be popping anyway.
That's a really good point.
Also, nothing stops the Survivor from tapping the gen after using ds to stun the killer, just a matter of changing tactics.
-
How about instead you have to spend as much time to stop regression as it takes to kick the gen and start regression?

1 our of every 9 games, you get tunneled is pretty bad.
I think what is worse is the 2 out of 5 games that hardcore camping occurred.
Just over 10%
That's it?
That's the big issue?

@Mugombo said:

How does equipping DS stop you getting tunnelled?
By giving you a 5 second stun on the killer and bringing you from dying to just injured if he does tunnel. So you can find a loop/hiding place/teammate to help get away.
Are you new?

i get that there are time where tunneling is needed I'm talking about tunneling when the game just started and there are still 5 gens left
If the kiler is able to tunnel a survivor out completely before a single gen is done, I have to wonder what the other 3 Survivors were doing that whole time. 4 chases, 3 carries to hook, that's a decent amount of time, definitely enough to finish at least one gen.

People was using old ds because he was punish killers because for tunnel. But now noone using this perk because everyone know it is not good perk anymore. You can use this one time. And if you use this perk you cant do anything for minute if you dont wanna lose advantage. So DS is waste of slot now. And people are not using this perk anymore. And killers knows that. And now killers tunnelling harder.
It was always a one time use, the stun was always the same duration. If you feel it's worthless because you can't do objectives and keep the protection, then I am not sure you understand what tunneling is.

Okay why don’t you play as survivor and bring the perk every game for 50 games. Out of those 50 games how many times would you actually get to use DS? My guess would be about 5 of those matches. Why would anyone bring a perk that is only used in 5/50 matches when you can bring perks that work every game.
So then you aren't being tunneled even close to 50% of matches? So there is no tunneling problem then, and it's all being overblown? Well that's a relief.
-
The exit should be just past the gate. There's no real reason for the little "end zones" to exist, once you have the gate open and crossed the threshold, that should be it.

I never really used DS recently, I never really had to. However it shouldn’t be down to a single perk. Just the same 5 gens shouldn’t be finished with with everyone having under 10k points.
2 a level perks, a few lesser perks, 3 teammates.
It's never down to just a single perk unless you are the only one left alive and are playing a very low level Survivor.

The issue was I had no relieve moment to breath. After all Im just a casual player. Have a chase, do a Gen, a unhook, a Totem, then may be a chase and die. Get constant chase makes the tense too high.
If being chased is that stressful, maybe Survivor isn't for you, or perhaps you are at a rank that is not commiserate with your skill level.
Going back to my earlier comparison, I don't find much fun in constantly running back from the spawn point in Overwatch, I play support to heal people, not just run from the enemy, but sometimes that's just the game.

So you play both sides, and still think one side should be restricted with fake rules on how they play? Why?
Yeah, both sides complain on the forum, that's what game forums are, complain zones. What does that have to do with whether or not killers should use a tactic the devs have repeatedly said is valid?

Match 1: as Meg (Speed build: Lithe, Fixate, Urban, Tenacity) vs Doctor.
Get hit, Lithe, Get hit -> 1st hook.
Get unhooked, Teammate takes hit, Get hit -> Saved with flash light, Get hit -> 2nd hook. (didnt have chance to use Lithe)
Get unhooked, Lithe , Get hit -> 3rd hook.
Lucky the last Gen almost done by the other 2 survivors. 3 escape.
Match 2: as Clau (Heal build: Autodidact, WGLF, Botany, Empathy) vs Pyramid head
Get hit, Get hit -> 1st hook (no Torment)
Get unhooked, Teammate takes hit, Get hit -> 2nd hook (had Torment)
Get unhooked, BorrowedTime, Get hit -> Final judgment
Lucky other 3 survivors almost done the 4th Gen. Then they escape through hatch with key.
Not every game I was able to survive this long.
The only way for another teammate to take heat off of a tunneled one. Is to body blocking, taking double hit, forcing killer to picking teammate to hook. Tunneler will tunnel no matter what. The help from teammate can only prolong the chase killer on me, not giving a chance to self healing.
So both matches listed here your team won. What exactly is the issue? You're winning and still want to dictate how the other side plays?
I just think it's ridiculous. There is no other pvp game where one team feels like they can tell the other how to play. If I'm on the Overwatch forums and say "hey, don't focus fire the support until the payload is at least at 50%" I would be laughed out of the forum, yet here Survivor mains (because people who play both sides know better) consistently seem to believe they can tell killers who to kill and in what order.
-
16 perk slots on the team.
6 possible obsession perks.
But you want the benefit without having to use any of them.
-
There isn't anything to fix.
The devs have repeatedly said they consider it a valid tactic. The only ones who disagree are people who believe they should be able to put rules on how the other team plays.

Survivors are dicks to I'm a killer main (twins) but the tunneling is just as bad as those click clicky flashlighter , D's abusers, or pallet camping Jane's, especially when it's done for no reason
Tunneling is never done "for no reason" it's done to get 1 of 4 Survivors out if the game as quickly as possible to help the killer win.
The behaviours you want to compare it to don't complete or forward game progression for their side, but the killers entire job is to kill you. The Survivors literally are his objective. Tunneling helps complete his only real objective. If you get kicked off a gen that's 50% complete, do you run across the map to find one that hasn't been touched yet, or do you return to the one you had halfway done? 1v3 is much easier to win than 1v4 is, as long as that is the case, tunneling in some form will exist. It isn't personal, it's the math of the game.

There are very few instances where tunneling is "okay" like when 3 gens done in the first min or two of the game and the killer is getting worked. But then again killer mains have just told me when I was starting this game,,"You dont like getting tunneled then git good" LOL. Like being good has anything to do with avoiding tunneling. I still dont understand why killer mains dont take their own advice?? Get good and stop those gens and the progress??? Why is advice good only one way?
Why are Survivors allowed to play their objectives however makes sense to them, yet you want to tell killers how to play theirs?
To be tunneled means you lost 4 chases in a row. What skill is the killer not showing there? Where are your teammates to help take the heat off of you?

Yeah, I just don't get it. I mean I do get it. From what I can tell is this, BHVR "profanity" filter isn't really a profanity filter, its a censorship filter with tiers.
From what I can tell, the more you swear or trigger the profanity filter (I am also guessing this takes into account your chat history before today as I haven't sworn once since the patch) the less you can say. So basically, the more you swear the less likely you'll be able to use the chat at all.
My problem is this, its an 18+ game. I swear all the time. Censoring me for swearing seems kinda crazy in my opinion. And censoring me to the point where picked me up is censored is even more crazy... like what is wrong with any of those words under any context?!?!
Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.
Or to put it another way, the chat filter is buggy as #########. Hopefully they fix it soon, because it's worthless as it stands now.

Oh no! Someone lets out their anger instead of keeping it bottled up? THE HORROR!
If you aren't able to move in the dying state, you should put in a bug report.
If you don't like not being able to do much when hooked, dbd may not be the game for you, or at least not as a survivor. Being hooked is part of the game. Whether the killer hooks you and sprints across the map, or hooks you and stares into your eyes, you still get the same options while on the hook.
If it upsets you to the point of breaking things in the real world, that's not "letting out your anger" that's a destructive behavior pattern that you should have addressed by a professional, or just learn healthier ways to express negative emotion.

Nah, transfer the damage hit to the unhooker should be enough.
So take the agency away from the killer due to the Survivor's bad play? I don't think that's a good idea.
-
Because the Entity said no.
Seriously though, he's got enough in his kit, he doesn't need to be able to show up at the gate on people, gotta give the Survivors a chance to get away. With gen teleport it's a 1 in 7 chance to find a survivor (base) the gates would be a 1 in 2, or 50% chance, which is just too much for his base power. Maybe if it was a pink add-on, but even then I feel it would cause issues.

I mean, the game allowing it is at fault. It's punishing you for an action you dont have any control over.
How do you suppose they should fix it? Not allow you to unhook a survivor if the killer is too close? Would just encourage camping. If your teammates are going to go for an unsafe unhook, that's on them, it's unfortunate that y'all have to pay the price, but that's how being on a team works.

The forums are heavily killer biased. I'm not even surprised by most of these responses.
Don't work yourself up over it. Most people around these parts will argue with you about any negativity, no matter how true, towards killers.
I feel like if the forum was biased towards killers we wouldn't see the multiple threads per day asking to nerf NOED, spirit, freddy, bubba, camping, nurse, etc. Just as if it was heavily biased towards Survivors we wouldn't see the threads asking to nerf dead hard, gen speed and pre-nerf DS. Seems more they are fairly well balance between sides, and those who assert a particular bias primarily have issues making intellectually honest arguments and would rather feel the world is against them then try and see the other side of the argument.
Though I do enjoy being called both an entitled Survivor main and entitled killer main on the same day, so that is always fun.

At 250 matches, the sample size has a margin of error 95% plus or minus 5.96%. So the sample size is statistically significant. It's the same way polling works for voting, they don't sample all 328 million people, they poll several thousand and use statistics to determine for probability.
So from that, killers are getting 4ks at 63.64% plus or minus 5.96%.
Statistically significant as an evaluation of the 5 people involved, as it is your individual skills and playstyles that are the primary variable. If I play 1000 matches, all analysis of those matches would show is how I did against those opponents and how well I could expect to do against other opponents of roughly the same skill. It won't and can't apply to the average player, because I am not average, and am either going to be below or above the average skill level. Same here with 5, we don't know if the 5 of you are the best Survivors ever, or the worst, without more people to account for the skill variable, it is only a measure of your collective skill vs killers, not the average skilled player against average killers.
That's why they poll 1,000 people, instead of polling 5 people with 1,000 questions.
TL:DR your methodology accounts for the skill variable of killers, but not survivors, as it's the same 5 Survivors each time.

I don't see why it needs to be fixed. There are 5 different users, including me, that are keeping stats of their games and all 5 of us are matching up on stats. Killers are getting 4ks 60% of the time for me, others are seeing a closer to 70% 4ks. In a game that should be balanced more toward 2 kills/2 escapes, that's pretty horrendous stats. Between all 5 of us, we have over 250 games of stats recorded.
5 people is a really small sample size, and only speaks to your own skill/team skill relative to the killers you are facing. The current mmr sucks, we all know it, so I'm not sure what your anecdotal evidence shows other than you die just over 1/2 of the time.

I can tell you first hand that it’s a total nightmare to deal with. It’s a semi regular strategy in my region of Australia. There is little the killer can do when every chase is being prevented from ending in a down.
Fair enough, I don't play swf, and haven't encountered that more than a couple of times, so I can't say.

I actually don’t think the OP is referring to a chased survivor getting into a locker.
I think they’re referring to when SWF behave like trolls by having most of the team running head on, and chased are instructed to run past lockers that have teammates hidden in them.
That... Honestly just doesn't seem that bad either. I mean, taken to an extreme where they aren't even trying to win, sure, but other than that, decent tactic when you're being chased.

At that point though they've kinda earned the stun by ducking you.
