  • Zarina looks very cool. Also Felix, but I just play female characters so idc about him xP.

  • It´s supposed to make more fair and balanced games.

In theory. Most of my games as surv are a chain like: killer stomps us - we stomp the killer - killer stomps us - we stomp the killer -....... Always a stomp. Don´t see the balance.

  • In case of Spirit, celebrate a well deserved nerf.

Blight, although he is powerfull, I´m not asking for nerfs on him. Nurse is godlike in higher levels. But not al the nurses I face are godlike so idk.

  • Same experience. And essagerate increase of DC´s in game. This can´t be normal or understood like rage quits. Some times people that dc were healthy and with no hooks.

I think this must be another BUG of the game. Game state is absolutely ridiculous.

  • @latinfla4 said:

Eventually the sbmm data will force the developers to buff lower tier killers. What do you think? Without variety I am sure more people will get bored with the game.

I will use trapper as an example:

Have trapper be able to carry 2 traps at base.

Apply deep wounds to an injured survivor stepping in a trap (how are they not downed seriously)

    Increase his setting speed time

Take the rng out of the trap equation...they cant get out the first 3 or 4 times by themselves but it shortens the time for the next attempts.Any more after that they are released automatically.

Three qol changes and you cant say those changes make him overpowered.

    Absolutely not

Yeah but she shouldn’t even have more than 100 pieces before other characters have even 50, because thats just absurd

she doesn’t need to get a skin in some sort of way every other patch

I get your point. All characters should have good stuff.

But, considering she is a base kit surv since the beta, and she is 2nd most player survivor character in DBD (1 -Claudette, 2- Meg, 3 -Feng Min), art team should give her at least 1 or 2 really good skins. She has nothing really worth to get at store.

  • @iCologne said:

I always wonder why the skins are that important to the people cause they do nothing. Well, of corse it's nice when the character you play looks cool but it doesn't give you anything. It would be very interesting if they would change that (as far it is possible). The only skins I really do like are the dark skins on each survivor cause you can hide better - but the rest is nice, but not really need-able, or am I wrong ...?

    Cheers, - iCologne -

Personally for me is very important the esthetic of the characters (although I know it doesn´t affect much to gameplay).

I only play the characters I visually like, and I only play female survivors (Meg, Nea, Nancy and Yui for the moment). Neither I care about the camouflage. I prefer colorful and shiny clothes rather than dark ones indeed.

  • @Hoodied said:

She doesn’t need anymore skins she has over 100 skin pieces in the game overall if we consider all dlcs and store cosmetics, along with rift cosmetics

She may have tons of skins pieces but the point is they don´t look good. She has very bad hairstyles, many ugly caps and not too beautiful clothes.

Compared to Nea, Feng Min, Kate or Claudette, she has nothing worth to buy.

  • I don´t really like the aspect of new pallets. BUT.... I think they are more easily recognisable and that´s quite good for looping. We all know sometimes it´s hard to distinguish some elements on DBD because of the shadows, similarity of colours, etc. So although I liked more the art of old pallet, I feel like this new model is better for gameplay.

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

YES! I believe they're vastly overpriced...but who would you most like to see as a new Legendary Skin for Resident Evil's Jill Valentine?

Maybe is not possible, as it´s part of the movie and not of the videogames, but I´d absolutely love to have the Alice Skin from the movies RE1 or RE3.

I'd say that the Deathslinger would win.

Now, before anyone starts saying to me that Legion has the upper hand, think about the lore behind the characters. The Legion members are, of course, a tight-knit group of teenagers. However, their only confirmed kill is that guy in the store, and he was quickly attacked by Frank first, and the job was finished by the other three, all with knives of different kinds. They could have an advantage in numbers, but that would most likely be all they'd have.

With Caleb Quinn, he's an experienced bounty hunter and ENGINEER, meaning that he could most definitely be carrying more than just his speargun at all times, perhaps with extra gadgets or other tricks up his sleeve. To go along with that, his aim is pretty much dead-on, and his gun would give him a bit of a range advantage, both at long range (spear) and at close range (bayonet). He could easily take them out by aiming for the head, or setting up calculated traps for the Legion to run into. Not only that, but he would most likely have more hand-to-hand combat experience with his time as a bounty hunter.

If u are assuming on a combat they would use more things than their powers (u mentioned traps), also legion member could carry a fire weapon.

But if they faced with their powers in game, slinger has not a chance. In best case scenario he would let one out with his harpoon and wouldn´t have time to reload and have a 2nd shoot before the other 3 members are on him.

Vs huntress it could be a different story.

  • @Rivyn said:

One issue I think the devs run into is the dcing. I'm going to guess that a good amount of her 'wins' are because one or more of the survivors simply dc/die on first hook when facing her, instead of actually playing. Makes data gathering pretty difficult.

If she has the ranking 1 on players DC it must be for some reason, don´t u think? Which killer has more proxycamp tunnel potential than spirit?

Spirit is the killer I hate the most in the game by far. And I recognise if I go against a proxycamper tunneler spirit most of the times I just point at her repeteadly and accelerate her victory. I mean....spirit already has big chances to win even playing fair. Not need to cheese their games more.

  • @CornHub said:

I want answers. The devs have shown they aren't afraid of handing out nerfs & reworking killers yet people believe they're hesitant to touch spirit, why? Am I supposed to believe the devs are willing to kill their game over a killer supposedly having no counterplay?

What's more likely, some people are getting outplayed by a killer or the devs have some secret pro-Spirit agenda & most of them are collaborating to prevent any change to her kit?

Good question. Spirit should be nerfed on her own, not dependable on a perk. She is amongs the top 3 killer of the game, but on difference to blight or nurse, she suits well on any map.

Spirit is extremely powerful. She can handle sweat SWF. But against Solo Q is just an abuse. Worst part is that Nurse or Blight need hard training to master them, while spirit is relatively easy to make her shine.

Besides that, she is optimal for camp tunnel due to her insane movility and easiness on tracking wounded survivors. If she is tryharding, and spirit players usually do, she is almost unberable on Solo Q. She requires nerf ASAP.

Like as if Wraith needs ANOTHER speed buff.

I understood that he proposes speed boost for killers out of their power. So it would´nt affect wraith, spirits, blights and even nurses.

But it´d do well on pig, trapper, clown, etc.

  • And survs should spawn next to the killer. At the bassement.

Jokin aside, I don´t think it´s a bad idea. It´s the most vulnerable stage of the game for killers and it would be a good buff for assasins with no movility.

    @JoByDaylight said:

If this will ever be a thing. The devs need to fix the difference between solo q and SWF first.

This would make solo q unbearable.

But I agree with this man. Solo q is hard enough already. They have to buff solo Q before balancing the killers propperly.

  • @Tactrix said:

I think that you should be able to crawl to a gen and do it while you're downed, the tradeoff would be that the whole time that you're on the gen your bleed out progresses 50% faster.

What is more, if killer is carrying u and he passes next to a generator, u should be able to repair it at 200% speed because of the adrenalyne rush. And when killer hooks you close to a generator to protect a 3 gen... ¡no fking way! Surv should be enhanced to work on that gen also while fight for his life (with speed progress bonus of course).

  • DS is op, they said.

  • The Legion. It´s easy to guess. Deathslinger hasn´t got a machine gun but a harpoon. If he´d be lucky and hit one target, he´d have the 3 other legion members on him. It´s an unpaired fight. RIP Slinger.

  • Recently I have seen some games vs huntress camping first hooks. And it just works. Even if teammates would be repairing, at some point teammates approach to try rescue and end up wounded or in dying state. They were felt very disgusting and cheap games. On SWF this strat is less effective as they can communicate they are being camped and not even try unhook or coordinate for a propper rescue.

On solo q, camp tunnel just works extremely well. I have to say also that many killers intentionally try not to abuse this tactic. I encourage u to play nice vs those killers and not gen rush them and recognize their playstyle (giving them the item, congratulating them at end game chat, or if they have played very nice u can even give them a sacrifice).

  • @Pukenplag said:

Oh dear, after all this time I spent here, I finally have to make my own NOED post.

I do 2 gens. I chase the killer for 3 minutes in total. I rescue 5 survivors. I see a totem next to us while Meg and Yui do the last gen. I begin doing it. It lits up and I'm happy to get NOED out, but all of a sudden Pig comes out of nowhere and downs me. I don't panic, the remaining survivors know precisely where NOED is. But I was wrong. They triggered EGC and ran out. To clarify, Pig went to the completely wrong gate on the other side of the map. Therefore, they had more than enough time to both rescue me and get rid of NOED. But no. After getting injured ONCE and doing all of that, I die on my first hook due to that one stupid little perk.

And no, in solo q, doing bones doesn't work. there are 5 of them, and you have to do gens since your team is usually gen-phobic. Doing only a part of them also isn't an option. Your team mates won't even touch totems.

Why can't something be done about it so people that have straight up never been seen by the killer/ never been caught won't die on their first hook?

Let's face it. It's cheap. It usually gets the killer at least one kill. And a lot of the time it's purely unearned.

Oh did I mention this Pig got 360d 5 times in a row? Yeah, she definetly that NOED kill.

I know that feeling. Looking for bones is much more easy to handle on SWF.

If u are playing solo Q u can be happy if u or your teammate clean ruin undying relatively soon.

As Solo Q, u have no time to explore all the map looking for all bones. Let´s be realistic. And the search also becomes inneficient because most of the times survs will explore already explored areas and we don´t have the count of totems. SWF can count the totems without using a perk.

So....again....what is unbalanced is the solo q. Weakest role of the game by far.

  • Got to say that is very disgusting when a Bubba is camping on early game (mention apart for insidiuos bassement Bubbas).

But I have to say that I like playing vs Bubba. I used to hate him a lot, but now I usually have fun with Leatherface. It´s a character that let u loop if u have pallets and / or windows. And at the same time, is exciting because it´s a one sot character. 1 mistake and you are out.

I have no precise statistic, but I play on red ranks, and have to tell you I dón´t see a big proportion of Bubbas abusing camping. They can camp at some stage of the game of course, but not facecamp at 5 gens. My impression is it that happens more on low ranks that can´t loop very good.

  • There are no maps ffs. Saloon disabled, the game disabled....and now RPD. And in a short time, Hawkings will be gone.

I´m not a fan of RPD, but we still need maps variety. It´s ridiculous.

  • @UncleStabby said:

I tried to be a good sport. I never camped, never tunneled. I juggled gen protection and chases, I played non-meta killers and ran more than just one overpowered build I tried to create a challenging but fun match for all my survivors.

    But you ruined it.

You and your stupid keys, genrushing tactics, and copypaste builds and playstyles.

Today, I declare this solemn vow. As of this moment, I will camp, I will tunnel, I will slug every last survivor for the 4k if need be. From now on I only care about MY fun! Not yours, not your team mates! I'm going to enjoy myself no matter what 'scummy' tactics I must use to achieve them. There will be Anti-Loop. There will be BBQ, and there will be moris. There will be no more mercy, no giving the hatch or the gate. I don't care if all three of your teammates dced on you, I will STILL chase you down and hook you, and smack your hanging body.

I look forward to more years of selfish enjoyment, just as you have.

On the other hand, I´m pretty tired of sweaty camper tunnelers. I don´t mind slow my game as surv if killer is playing nice, and evading tunnel at early game. Sometimes I even treat myself or give him my item if he has been considerate with survs. I think good manners are important although we are rivals in game.

But I can understand your point. I like playing vs Piggy, Bubbas, etc. But low tier killers are very susceptible of being gen rushed if they extend on a chase or don´t proxy tunnel camp.

In my oppinion, and I have said it more times here, is to create another game mode for DBD. One mode not focused on the actual metagame (genrush vs tunnel), and more centered on killer - surv interactions encouraging distribute the hooks rather than hard tunnel. Killers would enjoy the chases as survs do if they weren´t so worried about gens popping.

People defending DS = bad loopers.

    See how easy this is?

Just because you got downed after being unhooked doesn't mean you got tunneled. It USUALLY means you're just bad at hiding, and bad at looping. TWO different elements that would have saved you the trouble in the first place, where you're running DS to fix your weakness.

The game shouldn't force the Killer to go easier on bad players just because they might run the crutch perk DS. Borrowed Time gives you 12 seconds, that's MORE than enough time. Do you honestly need 60???

"Proxy tunneler" doesn't even make sense. You're just vomiting out random combinations of buzzwords you hear other people say when they die.

    Holy actual #########.

This is prime Survivor posting, ladies & gentlemen.

I know well what I´m talking about. So don´t come here to vomit me all your #########.

And there are killers exceptional designed for tunneling (like spirit, nurse, wraith, etc).

If a killer is trying to tunnel doing the proxycamp, there are situations where u can do very little as survivor (good looper or not) . As a survivor, i have given 1 free hit and even 2 free hits to killer so he stop chasing the tunneled guy. A BT will help u if killer is camping, but not much if he is proxycamping, because by the time he comes back inmunity will have expired.

So I think the message you have written talks more about you than what is talks about me. If u are one of the detractors of DS I can have an idea of what kind of killer u are.

  • People complaining about DS = tunnelers.

A lot of games I wish I was wearing DS. The amount of proxy tunnelers these days is extremely high.

I also agree with some people that said self heal shouldn´t deactivate your DS, or you shouldn´t leave scratchmarks on floor for a short time. When u are facing a tunneler is very risky trying to cure the unhooked guy, because killer will come back in seconds. So if the DS user is able to scape, and try to stay safe with a selfcure, he is eliminating his only life insurance. And that shouldn´t be like this.

Breaks my heart to see someone with a Meg pfp hate Spirit. I love both of them as they were my first survivor main and killer main respectively.

I like the art concept of Spirit. I like the killer and her mechanic. It´s just that is too abusive to play against, specially on Solo Q. Also, a big proportion of spirit players is hard camp tunnelers. Spirit is great for that. Great movility and good track on survs (specially on injured ones). Thtas why I hate her.

Cancel that. When they fix the sound steps bug she will be broken again. She already is.

  • @GannTM said:

I remember back when there was at least one thread every single day on the forums that had something to do with Spirit. It was quite repetitive but ever since Spirit got bugged to where she can’t hear footsteps in phase, then the complaints are so rare to the point that everyone almost forgot about her.

So I just want to ask, why did people all of a sudden stop complaining about her? I assume it has something to do with the fact that barely anyone plays her anymore but what exactly has caused all of it to stop, for now at least?

In my personal case, don´t see much spirits nowadays. But spirit still the killer I hate the most. She still needs a nerf propperly, not dependable on Iron Will. That was not an adequate nerf.

Regardless of which side you play you can end up in the red ranks with your eyes closed, unfortunately. I've been a red rank Killer before and I promise you I am not that. And if I'm being extremely honest I'm not a red rank Survivor either.

I don't take the game overly seriously. I'll play extremely altruistically, I experiment constantly with weird or 'useless' perk builds. I wear some pretty obnoxiously bright cosmetics (though with the lack of fog these days outfits don't really matter). If a Killer is really struggling I'll help my team escape and then throw myself on hook. Or if my team is being bad mannered and bullying a Killer I'll throw myself on hook. I have more fun supporting my teammates and interacting with the Killer than I do 'trying hard' so... I'm decent as a Survivor. Good at times. But never great... And I honestly can't remember the last time I was above a purple rank. 😪 I live in the red ranks and just... Hate it. LOL

I don't think that there's really any reason to ever be toxic. Not for perks or being outplayed especially. And if someone is being rude in game I wish people would just write them off as immature/pathetic and move on. It makes me genuinely... Sad? Disappointed? Both? That I have a handful of friends who won't even try this game because they have heard so many bad things about the community.

I play very similar the way u do. Add me to play together sometime =D

    Steam code: 139525206

  • It´s a lot of time that I´m stuck at level 4-5. And let me tell u I´m not even interested on reaching rank 1. The further u get the more tryhard becomes the game (hard tunnel and camper, full gen rush, most of the games u play vs top tier killers with metaperks, your teammates will let u die if there is risk on rescue so they gain points on survival category...).

I guess also is easier at SWF than at solo queue.

  • There should be more sexy killer fems, like Susie.

The tactic doesn't work against any good survivor team, swf or not. The only thing is potatoes are in red ranks so they get mixed in with everyone.

A team of good solos still have the advantage against killers. For example I have a group I play with where one of the players is deaf and no one talks to each other or co-ordinates anything. For all intents and purposes we are on the same ground as 4 solo players. When a killer is camping we all know what to do.

I've play solo as well and when I get matched with others who know what to do the result is the same

Like I said, the only ones falling for campers are people bad at the game or those who refuse to change their playstyle. Camping is not the issue the players are. I don't like it but I can't make people play the correct way or the way I want. I can only encourage.

You can't fix unskilled or unwilling with game changes, the community has to do that. As long as survivors are unwilling to work with killers to find a common ground, not happening.

If u are playing with the same guys, although there is no communication, you are more close to a SWF than solo queuers as u have experience together and created a playstyle. So that´s not a quite good example.

On the other hand, this strat indeed affects more to Solo Q players. It´s pretty obvius. If´m on Solo Q I can´t be never sure if killer is camping, proxycamping, if he has moved to another area, if my teammates are going for rescue, if they are repairing while ruin is active and what´s the percentage on the gen they are fixing....etc. A lot of information survs don´t have and in many occasions provoke bad decissions. If it wasn´t so effective killers just wouldn´t over use it.

Idk the solution to this. I think the community should insist the devs on this aspect of the game. If they are not willing to change nothing, at least they should create a new game mode for people that desires another way to play, that is a lot of people indeed.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2449628#Comment_2449628

I don't play to win either, but that doesn't mean I act like everyone else should. You don't push your playstyle on other people just because that's how you like it. It'd be like someone saying "stop playing for fun play to win."

Playing to win is completely understandable and reasonable as long as its within the confines of the rules.

I don't like it either, but I understand that's just how it is, people are allowed to be competitive against other people, not just bots (although a better bot mode wouldn't hurt just sayin).

Unless you want to split the community between casual and competitive ques, its not happening, and even then there's no way to enforce people won't try hard in the casual que or use it for practice, so really there's no real solution afaik.

"I think many killers would be able to understand the situation. And eventually, stop that "bully" strat. I can accept it like a situational strat but not as the way to go since the beggining."

Understand what? That people don't like getting camped? They already know that, but it gets them wins so they keep doing it. So stop giving them wins. Its not a bully strat just because you don't like it. Otherwise doing gens quickly is a bully strat for the survivors. I don't agree with either of those.

Furthermore on that point, its not like survivors are running around "hey guys lets not do gens too fast killers don't like it." Both sides need to agree to either play for the fun of everyone or to play to win. Right now the majority survivor mentality is "We play to win but the killer has to play for our fun."

That's not even remotely fair to the killer so they just don't follow the rules. A good first step would to make something that allows both sides to have fun, not only expecting survivors to be worried about. You want killers to stop camping and tunneling, stop slamming gens and t-bagging/clicking would be a nice start. You want hatch for a rough game, give the killer a sacrifice for a rough game.

But that's not what (most) survivors want they just want their fun catered to, and that's not right. All these post I see complaining about camping, I never see them consider "yeah maybe we should go a little easier on killers as well."

"That's not even remotely fair to the killer so they just don't follow the rules. A good first step would to make something that allows both sides to have fun, not only expecting survivors to be worried about. You want killers to stop camping and tunneling, stop slamming gens and t-bagging/clicking would be a nice start. You want hatch for a rough game, give the killer a sacrifice for a rough game".

U have mentioned somethings I already do. If killer has had a bad game but focused tried chases even gens were popping, more than once I just went to loop with him till time expired or he took me down. And I´ve given the kill to a killler that, being able to tunnel, has intentionally avoided. Or the medkit, etc. It´s a way to recognise his good manners.

it´s true that survs can´t pretend killer play fair and them go full repair or unhook someone on his face. I´d encourage both sides to play more deferential to the other side. We are not playing vs bots. And survs cant play surv if there is no killer and vice versa. I think trying other players have fun is also nice and necessary on a game. I have fully enjoyed playing against a Blight that was outplaying all the team and playing fair at the same time. At the end, the most skilled guy won, and I´m happy with that.

You don't need to camp them 4 minutes. You only need to proxy them into second hook state then tunnel them off.

This tactic is just an abuse for the Solo Q where average skilled killers can easily get a 4K. Let´s be honest. Killer mains know it perfectly.

This technique is not so effective against good SWF.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2449580#Comment_2449580

So because you don't agree with someone else playstyle you call them a "bully", shame, and report them? I think the real bully here isn't the killer.

Its not abusive or cheap, its just boring for you. Understandably so, but you're not entitled for the killer to play your way the same way they're not entitled to you playing their way.

I could report you for throwing the game and working with the killer for playing into their hands, but I don't. Survivors who play into it are just bad at the game and don't know any better or don't care about anyone else's match but their own. You're making the situation worse for your entire team by throwing yourself at the camper, and you're encouraging their behavior.

I don´t play to win as I just said. For me as important is the victory as the way u get it. If everybody would step un in front of the killer and do nothing, I think many killers would be able to understand the situation. And eventually, stop that "bully" strat. I can accept it like a situational strat but not as the way to go since the beggining.

If my teammates wanna report me for that they are entilted too. But I think we shouldn´t just play for winning. There is a training vs IA 100% Win rate for that purpose. I also encourage survs playing with fair killers to be congrat them and rep them +. Even if we have been demolished. Recognising and encouraging that mindset.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2449565#Comment_2449565

The thing is though, if more survivors did that then killer camping would go way down and you'd get more interactive matches. You're encouraging the very behavior you dislike.

I don´t see it that way. My way of protest is not keep playing by his bully rules. Survivors fun is not hold m1. So I pass quick to next game hoping for a better killer, and report that guy on game and on his steam page if he has. I know this strat is not reportable but I do it to show my dissagreement with this abusive and cheap strat allowed and encoouraged by developers.

I disagree, I find gen speeds a bigger issue as that actually causes an imbalance in the game, camping just annoys some people.

Honestly if you nerf gen speeds and are worried about camping becoming stronger just increase hook time by the same % and the solution we already have still exist with the same efficiency as before.

While I agree, camping isn't ideal, I wouldn't consider it a big problem. I just play around it and expect my team to do the same. Whether I'm the one on the hook or not. I get more annoyed by my team not doing the gens while I'm strung up.

Camping doesn't need a "fix" because we already have one. As is, camping is a problem that can be solved right now by more survivors just playing differently, gen speeds are not.

Survivors are choosing not to use that solution and then complaining about their misplay.

You can't fix players deciding to play poorly.

If more survivors didn't yolo for the save and reward the camper, we'd see a lot less of it. Camping only works if survivors play into it. If I see a camper I'm doing gens, if my team does the same, we win easy. More survivors should do the same and camping would go down or only exist in low rank/skill matches.

Instead they reinforce camping by playing right into it. every camper that climbs is due to survivors letting them. Ironically part of that is due to the entitlement on the survivor side such as "wow you really didn't save me". You're not entitled to a save if its a bad decision for the team overall.

Its a team game, not a single-player one, sometimes you have to take the hit.

Don't get me wrong, if there's a way to encourage (not punish) killers not to camp more, then absolutely go for it, but its not a super pressing matter because we already have a easy and reasonable way to deal with it. People are just choosing not to do it because of peer pressure, entitlement, and bad habits.

Pharaprashing you: "If more survivors didn't yolo for the save and reward the camper, we'd see a lot less of it. Camping only works if survivors play into it. If I see a camper I'm doing gens, if my team does the same, we win easy. More survivors should do the same and camping would go down or only exist in low rank/skill matches"

U have perfectly described a boring game. Not everybody plays exclusively play to win. I play for having fun. Winning is the complement. I don´t want victories where I let my teammates die so I can selfishy scape. Maybe that´s your idea of a victory, I find it very shameful and honorless instead. Like hard tunnel victories. I prefer die than "winning" like that.

I tried to play nice and "survivor friendly"... But it just doesn't work. I can't afford 4 people to sit on gens. Survivors are not playing "killer friendly", they are just pushing gens without even healing. Especially these SWFs are completely destroying me.

Maybe it is also because I play weaker killers like Trickster. Sometimes it takes a lot of time until I manage to down a competent survivor. And if they run to the shack, I am usually just forced to give up the chase, because the gens will be flying.

Anyway... I just start to hate this game.

I´m one of the survs that complaint about proxycamp tunnel. Personally, I find this option very cheap dirty if it´s applied regularly. Situationally on a hard game, I can understand it.

I think I can understand your dilemma, because if u try to play survivor friendly victories are very hard if survivors go for gen rush (extremely hard for low tier kills). Piggy, trapper, clown have a short range opportunity playing survivor friendly if survivors go full repair. But, top tier killers with good perks don´t even need it. If they do is because they want the ez way (nurse, spirit, blight, etc).

Particularly, I just hate this proxy tunnel camp vs gen rush matches. Because it´s a play vs it´s counterplay (both strats are most efficient strat....it´s simple). It´s a dev´s mistake desing these boring cheap non interactive strats as metagame.

I refuse to play these games. U are going for hardtunnel a teammate, I´ll bodyblock and point killer with finger until he kills me. Idc ranks or BP. If they wanna ez win I give them ez win (Congrats, champion!). But, on the other way, if killer is playing fair and avoids tunnel, I´m not going to gen rush a guy that is playing nice. I´ll just do secondary things or just run around exposing for a chase. Good manners and empathy to teanmates and rivals is important also in videogames.

In my oppinion, most ez solution is creating a casual mode or a new modality where proxycamp tunnel and gen rush won´t be best strats in game and game mode encourages to play in a more interactive way.

I've always been a Survivor main. I've played Killer and I've had phases where I leaned in that direction but for the most part I've always enjoyed playing Survivor more and have developed my DbD skills more in that side of the game. Recently I decided I'd play 40 rounds of Killer (I did about 10-12 a night) to get a feel for the current Killer atmosphere and then 40 rounds of Survivor to compare the two experiences. I decided to share my takeaway.

These are my personal experiences and my opinion, I did this experiment for fun and hope that it's an interesting read at the very least even if your experiences/opinion are different. 😊

    1. Toxicity - We all have it about the same. Honestly this is what shocked me the most. I was definitely expecting to see a higher rate of 'toxicity' as a Killer purely because there are 4 candidates for showing bad manners per match. But I saw it at about the same rate as what I see as a Survivor. I got a few click-happy flashlights to the point of just spamming and I saw a few tea-bags at the exit gate/palette drop. I got 3 rude messages (none reportable). It was by no means the majority. As a Survivor it was the same! There were a few Killers who were genuinely toxic (I watched a Killer down the last Survivor at an exit gate, carry him past hooks with the obvious implication of hatch. Find hatch, drop and kick in his face, then carry him to basement and slash him over and over. That is my definition of toxic, not just 'slug is toxic'.) I got 5 rude messages, only 1 of which was reportable for profanity/slurs. On both sides the majority of players played the game and then went on to the next.
    2. Killer: Game Balance - I enjoyed it. I played 25 rounds as Trickster, 10 rounds as Legion, 5 rounds as Hag (who I hate playing so I wanted to force myself to try her again). I got 3+ kills on all of my games except a very small few (I can't find my note on the specific number! 😔I'd say it was 5-7). The majority of rounds were 4k and only 3 rounds that were 0k. Two of those 0k rounds were the aforementioned flashlight bullying, palette drop gloating rounds. One was definitely not a SWF but I just played like a potato, only got a few hooks, and ultimately lost due to my terrible decisions. The flashlight groups were both either on PC or Xbox and I did wonder if they were a SWF. There were definitely some challenges, I had some good chases and got outplayed, but I felt like I was punishing as a Killer even though I was primarily on a brand new Trickster. Obviously I was playing faster Killers so gen pressure and patrolling wasn't problematic and I absolutely loved filling people with Trickster's knives. On all 40 rounds I purposefully avoided true face camping (not to be confused with patrolling when you know someone is near) and I only slugged during 3 man unhook rushes. I played the game in the way that I consider sportsmanlike.
    3. Survivor: Game Balance - I enjoyed it... Mostly. I escaped 12/40 rounds. Far less of a textbook success rate as a Survivor than as a Killer. This is not a 'killers ez' post so if anyone does read/respond please don't take it there. Again, this is purely my experience. I saw a lot of tactics that I consider extremely boring (face camping is making a comeback in a big way lately) but we aren't going to argue the validity of these tactics as the devs themselves have said face camping, basement camping, and slugging are intended gameplay styles. It is what it is. I still love the Survivor experience and getting chased and prefer it to Killer even if I 'win' far, far less.
    4. Technical Issues - I'm not sure... I'm a PC gamer so reliable and high performance internet is a must for me. DbD is literally the only game I play on my PS4. And I'll admit I mostly play on Wi-fi because I forget to drag a cord over about half of the time. That said I noticed some lagging and rubber banding whether I was playing wireless or not. On Killer I mostly encountered some momentary freezing while on Survivor I mostly suffered stuttering and rubber banding. The only thing that seemed to consistently be problematic was Dead Hard, weirdly enough. The game would freeze for about a second every time I used it. It seems like both sides are suffering performance issues right now and that's super disappointing.

This might not have been the most thrilling read but the reason I posted this is to support my takeaway message. The experience is similar for us all. We all face frustrations in performance issues. We all have ideas for how the game could be better balanced/more fun. And we all encounter the pathetic minority who lash out at people and vent their anger in unkind ways. We share all of this in common and a love of this game. It's the latter we should be focused on.

I hope people will keep that in mind and that this infamous divide between Killers and Survivors can at least lessen some, though I know this isn't a magic post that will do that. I just hope it gives some people some food for thought! It seems like the "Survivors r toxic/ez" and "Killers r toxic/ez" posts are just an exhausting, nonstop constant these days. The finger pointing and animosity is so engrained in this community that even people who don't play this game will cite the community as a reason they avoid it. That's tragic and needs to change.

Remember that there are other gamers on the other side, who just like you have their frustrations but also their love of this game. Be kind to one another! And as always, happy gaming! <3

Sorry maybe I didn´t notice. Did u mention the ranks u played as surv and as a killer?

Ver interesting post. Thanks for your effort.

might not result in how we want though

Imagine people waiting too much for a match and in the end they found themselves at casual matches not to wait So same hardcore player will come there and play it there

can't be sure the player will think it is casual match so no need to be haarcore player so they might just do the same thing there in casuals

Talking back again against smite 10 queues: they are not much longer than what we actually have in DBD. So that shouldn´t be problematic.

And regarding the "sweatness" I would create a different modality as i mentioned that encourages distribute hooks and interaction with killer more than with gens. Random presets or perks for survs, a choice between 2 random killers... or imagine that: 3 survs 1 killer vs 3 survs 1 killer. Where your team has to repair the gens of the other side or capture a flag). Imagine collaborating with your killer bodyblocking other survs (that´d be hillarious).

The other side of the story:

I guess you should just hope that you are not the first survivor to go down.

Trapper games are like that in red ranks. Trapper carrying agitation, noed, and just trapping bassement until he catches up someone.

    Yes Sir!

I'm pretty sure the people that face camp don't care about negative emblem progression or rank. Its something that does nothing but ruin the game for survivors and discourages them from playing the game. Now if there were penalties for face camping that were more severe maybe we would start seeing less of it.

I agree with u. There are some players that really don´t care about bloodpoints, ranks, or emblems.

I´ve played with a facecamping tunneling Blight (imagine facecamp with best map movlity of the game btw), with more than 50 steam pages reporting him negative for this behaviour. This guy was proud of it. They just wanna ruin others experience. Solution for him is not dpip or BP...is temporary ban.

  • I also think this tactic should be more punhised. I know when I find 1 of this killers what I´m supposed to do is let my altruism aside and full repair gens. But.... I don´t play a team game to let my teammates being bullied while I click m1 for an eternity. That´s not how the game is enjoyable and funny (maybe for mental killers only).

I can understand a face camp when is neccessary (u have looped a Bubba a lot, gens flew away and that´s your reward) Worth and desserved...But.... Facecampe early game when match is far from be unresolved is a different thing. It´s like when u were playing football as a child and someone said "This is my ball and nobody including me is gonna play".

  • @LeFennecFox said:

Well if they add MMR then you should have competent teammates at your level and a killer at your level making the game at least possible.

I certainly do. i usually play with good players. What tilts me is when a killer is just proxy camping a teammate not letting him play (ignoring bodyblocks, chases, eating Ds and keep tunnel on, etc.), and just forcing survs to let him die and full repair gens. I can´t with that. Just prefer die, not even try,

    @BabuDweet said:

Splitting up the player base is just not the way to go. I understand your frustration honestly cause I too play solo at red rank.

However, yano it can be flipped that the killer doesn't wanna have to deal with good loopers while gens fly a lot their games which can force them to tunnel and camp (not always the case)

This game just cannot fully provide for both sides so just best to leave it how it is. No competitive or causal modes, it wouldn't work.

    @StibbityStabbity said:

Just curious, but I have seen two posts talking about splitting up the player base.

This game now rocks traffic that is up there with MANY games that already have casual, ranked, multiple game modes, etc. How is this ONE game such a special snow-flake that splitting up the players would be so detrimental when it doesn't hurt them at all?

Statistically, it would still be a 1/4 split. Each mode would likely have 20% Killers and 80% Survivors. It would be VERY unlikely that ALL Killers or ALL Survivors would part into the different modes and create an imbalance.

When the game was smaller, I could see that argument having some merit to it, but it seems like no matter how big the game gets now, that reason will always be brought up. I don't get that. I also don't think this game is so particularly special that it can't support two modes based on whether or not people want to be competitive.

Now, as far as people asking what a Casual mode would entail and not coming up with much, I entirely agree on that point. It would likely have to not affect rank, not reward BP the same as ranked, and completely throw matchmaking out the window for the most part. However, for the most part, the difference between a Casual and Ranked mode would likely be pretty minimal.

Concerning splitting the queque, why not? I mean.....DBD has about 60-70 k player and only one game mode. Games like Smite (5vs5 moba on their most) have about 20k players and has: 7 casual game modes and 3 ranked modes. Most casual and popular mode runs in periods of 1 minute. Most popular ranked mode queues run every 2 minutes. All games matchup is concerning a MMR system and u can have diff MMR on differente game modes.

When u play on ranked games people play usually according to the metagame and picks the gods they are good at (like metaperks in DBD). But, when u just wanna play a casual game, usually is for proving new characters or builds or just have fun on a "low tactical" game where people won´t complaint much about about your perfornance (there is no ranking in casual modes although the matchups are organised in base an internal and hidden MMR system)

On DBD a casual mode would be great for focus on playing chill, meme builds, and low tier killers. I agree with somebody who said maybe rules also could be different and encourage a different playstyle other than gen rush vs camp tunnel. If killers proxy-camp tunnel is because game rules encourage it. So let´s change that with different game rules that encourage splitting the hooks and more focus on distribute the hooks, have more interaction with killer than with gens, etc.

I mean....c´mon. We only have 1 game mode. Let´s give it a try to other game modes with different meta games. There are people don´t wanna go full tryhard every single game. Besides that, it can be hard for new players to get in the game and get experience on DBD mechanics (loops, mindgames, strats...). Casual modes also would give an accelerate learning to those players that want to step up their game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/274961/can-we-have-a-casual-mode-pretty-tired-of-tryhard-tunneler-camper-champions

I'm actually over these pointless, whining threads. If you're so sick of 'proxy-tunnelling' (sorry bud, going for a kill every now and again is quite viable; when I need a mission done I'll see it through a couple of times) and 'pseudo-camping' (as others I have seen have put it), run the right perks to address that and don't be what you say: a 'fun-at-all-costs' Survivor. I've had plenty of run-ins with pain-in-the-ass, toxic Red Rank Survivors since rank reset when I'm a very low rank at the moment, as I've recently moved over to Xbox and I play very inactively. So much so that, amidst that horrible lag and those frequent glitches, teleportation issues and yes -- occasional 'exploits' on my opponents' end -- playing for 'fun' and just messing around rather than going for 4ks head-on has been rendered almost impossible unless I dedicate a 3-gen bracket to legitimately going out of my way to hook 2 Survivors twice. At least. I can't just have fun; God forbid I be 'nice'.

And as much as it may contradict a thread I've made recently, I'm getting fed up of treating every SWF I come up against like they are deserving of respect and a fun game. Because so far, every group has been the same: triple flashlights (annoying, but I just make sure to be a pest to them), quadruple BT and oftentimes triple DS -- which is ok given how it counters many 'irritating' Killer strategies -- and the constant tea-bagging all the while. If you're not on a last-gen console, then you won't know how painful it is to have these things -- especially with the unforeseen freezes and lag spikes -- happen to you on not just a regular recurring basis, but dozens of times every game. The actually decent and fun matches I've had recently have been 4ks, which is often the ones I'm not having so much fun in, but luckily enough I received games with Survivors who are just nice and fun like I am. For reference, those 'fun' games in question are ones I played today with PH and Demo for the first time, with only 2 and 3 perk slots respectively, after I bought them yesterday. I'm having a fun time so far with them both, and I'm getting a good grip on their gameplays.

On the whole, though, this really comes down to you dealing with your own issues. Take the initiative. You mightn't like having to resort to running certain perks, but count yourself as one lucky person. Most of us Killer mains don't get that liberty. If you don't run certain perks 90% of the time, say goodbye to even decent pipping, because a majority of your matches will be just plain toxic. Even given the horrible experience I've had as of late, I've never acted or even once thought it was my opposition's fault. It always comes down to my own rejecting to play certain builds, Killers, and add-ons and/or strategies. That is, I'm afraid, the end of the story.

But whatever, you do you I guess. That's just my two cents.

In which proportion do u go against sweaty SWF in comparison to random solo q players? I don´t play killer often, but i heard killers say that most of the times they play vs solo q randoms. And even if sometimes they face SWF, a good proportion of this groups are just fooling around not going for gen rush. I think t-bag and clicky clicky must be something usual on this type of games, but many of this guys are still playing unneffectively.

Solo q is the weaker role of the whole game. Solo q < Killer < SWF. But don´t forget most of the games happen on Solo Q, where every killer can certainly work.

Isn't that what you should do though? Shouldn't you be efficient?

Granted, I come from a very different school of thought, so I'm probably missing the point entirely.

We have seen efficient gameplay in tournaments (where u only see spirit, blight, nurse going for sweaty tunnel) and survivors gen rushing the gens.Is the more effective way to play? Yes. It´s boring and repetitive as hell? Also, yes.

it´d be nice if there would be 2 different queues. Because nowadays a high percentage of the games is people playing most tryhard as possible and sometimes u just wanna chill, focus on chases or meme.
