this is the repeated justification people are using but if that was really the case they could just remove hindered from the debuffs Vigil interacts with. It's also not a good justification anyway since RNG is a defining factor of this game, I have used The Plague as an example a lot because she totally destroys an entire quarter of survivor gameplay, if you bring a medkit and a healing build against the plague you're just perkless and that's somehow fine but Vigil VS Clown and Freddy isn't?
No? You are talking about two separate issues that are both a problem, but are not connected to each other in any way.
Vigil could be fixed by removing hindred from it's effects. It could also be fixed by excluding killer powers and addons from interacting with vigil.
Or the third and best option, in my opinion, is just reworking the perk, because it messes with exhaustion balancing, some killers powers, weak killer perks that get even weaker because of it and even currently needs to be looked at for every new killer release that bases on some sort of status effect influenced by it.
It's really not that hard to see, that vigil is not a healthy perk for both sides. It may even played into the decision to nerf sprintburst.
-
Vigil makes it hard to balance exhaustion perks and is unique in its weird property to fck over specific low tier killers like clown.
It's as healthy as original tinkerer.

UPDATE GUYS I GOT TO PLAY AGAINST TWO SEPARATE JUDGEMENTS NOW
(they were new but it was still really fun)😄

I haven't even played survivor since the update so your def not the only one. I've yet to play against Judgment.
I was so ready too, i queued for five games everytime fully ready to face it. I lost hope with every game i queued...

@Rock_KBob said:
That's so odd because I've been seeing them nearly constant. Of the approximately 10 matches I played last night, all but one game were Judgement players.
Can we switch pretty pls?

Yeah, so as Judgement you don't bring hook Perks.
But Survivor doesn't know who they are up against and half your build is ruined by the Killer you get.
That is true, but also true for many other killers.
Healing builds are useless against legions and plagues.
Hook/Unhook perks are less efficient against pyramid head.
DS suffers against final hook mori mechanics.
The problem is bigger than this killer.

I think it was already rather obvious from the start that a very hard, very rewarding killer where you need a lot of time investment will satisfy a subgroup of the playerbase, not everyone. But that is okay, it is another niche that is being satiated. Nothing wrong with 1-2 killers like Blight and Judgement existing that have a very high skill floor and ceiling.
Yeah i know, but i was so ready to face it.😭😭😭
-
I was so stoked to play against good judgements, but no one wants to play it. 😭

I genuinely hate how they feel the need to refine or improve things that literally EVERYBODY loves. Everyone likes the little "bum" sounds the ready up button made, it was the perfect size then they shrinked it for a patch, then they quadrupled the size, made it bright red, and removed the bum sound.
Same thing for Wesker people were literally praising BHVR for how fun he was to play as and against him, along with the amount of skill expression required to play him with a low skill floor and high skill ceiling. It really disappoints me how we feel the need to ruin good things.
I have no idea why they do it. My best guess is they mean well and fck up.
-
Crayon Eater, when played well, is high A tier. The issue with him is, that his skill floor is extremely low. My cat could play kaneki and 4k most of the time.
-
Gaming companies seem to have a sickness. They NEED to improve perfectly good stuff like the UI, some killers (wesker cough cough) or perks.
No one asked for this. No one wanted this. The singled out person who pushed for this needs help. I am sure the professionals at BHVR are capable of caring reliably for their peers.
-
Judgement also does not get to activate any hook related perks. It's a tradeoff.

Crying about a bottom tier killer says alot about your survivor skills. I bully Legions on the daily.
The restrictions on Frenzy are outdated, when you consider the killers we've gotten since their release, like Blight and Ghoul who have no tracking restrictions despite their greater mobility. Seeing scratch marks in Frenzy does not make Legion stronger in anyway, just less unfriendly to play as.
I personally do not enjoy playing against them, so i don't wanna see them as often. I'm kinsa trash as surv, so what

which makes Distortion really not a great stealth perk anymore… hence why they shouldn't be using it. also, Smoke Bombs are horrible. the only routine use that i get from them is to obscure ranged killers vision briefly, almost never are decent killers thrown off by them.
And they block aura reading. To quickly shroud your aura from BBQ they're great.

Few years ago it was fine and dead hard was the insane one, the goalposts are moving. I can bet a year from now on lithe will be the insane one
Sprintburst was never fine. It was on par with old dead hard and even easier to use back then.

Insane? I see we're getting our talking points from the content creators now. SB was a solid good, but nothing so over the top in needed to nerfed. Did it really bother killers that much just to put in a little effort? Anyways, 40 seconds of exhaustion for 2 seconds of haste makes a trash perk. At least Drama gave you a chance at something extra.
It's not trash, just not the best choice anymore. It's an excellent exhaustion perk for beginners now, that gets outclassed by better perks scaling with your skill as survivor.
-
Because SB is insane?
It's a nerf long comin and very much justified. And i say that as a nonstop SB user for the last years.
-
They shouldve just added elusive for ten seconds on top without syncing the two effects imo. Let's see how it plays out in the next weeks.
-
Leave legion in the gutter where they belong. They're just not munching on crayons, but they're close.

Yeah distortion used to be a good shout, but now it's really not helpful for new players trying to avoid chase. I find it's good to have an experienced player running it because they can call out aura read perks and add ons, super useful info for new players.
Yeah that's also a great option to let two people run it, a newbie and a vet.
-
@DodoSwarm said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4111189#Comment_4111189
The problem is Distortion got gutted badly for pure stealth, it requires the weakest link to actually be chased directly in order to void any more than one aura read which is unreasonable when there are tons of killers running consistent aura reads. once the new player ends up on hook its likely a tunnel out
Thats why good players need to take agression. It's not a guarantee, but even if the two uses if distortion are not sufficient you can opt for fart clouds if the killer is far away.

@DodoSwarm said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4111186#Comment_4111186
heavy stealth was nerfed quite a bit though both through direct perk nerfs and the extreme increase in aura reading over the years so its kind of just wasting perk slots unless they have enough game knowledge to know when they are hidden IMO
The biggest thing any newbie needs to understand is distortion. And ofc a vet player needs to take chase a lot.
-
Let them run heavy stealth builds exclusivly on survivor. Oh and let them play killer.
-
Focus your hatred on the killer that beat you. Crayon consumers are the problem, the map is only a secondary issue.

Its quite satisfying since they added opening chests with a key lol. I remember when bringing a key prettymuch made everyone think "he's gonna let us all die for hatch isn't he?"
I've always got flamed for bringing a key because nobody uses brown keys and knows they only for aura reading :(

I really hope BHVR manages to find a middle ground between keeping the game a gem and improving it with QOL, fun new features and interesting chapters.
I love this game and this community. I want it to thrive and do well, but we've been burnt so often lol

So dear Mandy you said you are not liking slugging, yet Forced Hesitation will be even more stronger now since Vigil will be useless now and slugging killers will enjoy it more now)))
Because forced hesitation was never the issue with slugging? It's always been coulro.

Really? All I encounter is sweaty killers playing like their life is on the line with 3 random jubjubs for a team.
Also analyzable.
-
@Piruluk said:
I dont want to play survivor because they lack agency(one weak player autolose) and has no comeback mechanics also there isnt any MMR so you get players who can last 5 seconds in a chase and refuse to touch gens
And those are the best kind of players. I would like you to try something. Your objective going into a soloq match is not an escape or looping the killer for a long time. It is an analysis of the creatures you play with. May it be the killer or other survivors.
Try to analyze why the doctor you are playing against always gets stuck at that one corner in a jungle gym. Also, why is he nodding at seemingly random moments? A truly marvelous being!
Also, that bill seems somewhat weird. He is doing gens, but for some reason he always visits the toba landing main building for a while for sightseeing before returning to his busy work. Is he under the impression of being some kind of tourist? Is he interested in the culture of this foreign planet and how a crashed spaceship integrates with it?
The actions in connection with the endless possibilities of intentions is one of the things that makes soloq for me so enjoyable. I feel like a visitor in the cinema of character.
Quanton himself is sonewhat of a quiet observer too, so it really fits my roleplay.
-
As survivor i used to bring blight vial, a BNP and the rusted coin. Nowadays i bring nothing to not get spotted instantly in my fart cloud.
As killer i use the blight vial too, the progress flag and a killer specific charm like a beartrap for trapper or a crow for artist.
I especially love when i'm fooling around and some survivor points happily at the progress flag it always warms my heart.🦝
-
Knight does create unfun situations very often, that is true. In turn, he is one of the few unique powers we got in the last few years thqt did not feel recycled. I'm torn about it.
-
So basically, dead by daylight was not intended as a game that should have a server where the killer and the survivors play on. It was intended to be hosted by the killer.
After the introduction of dedicated servers it got pretty clear very fast, that the devs had a hard time migrating the existing mechanics to the new server architecture.
I'm guessing they used known paths to introduce new mechanics too, so as of today there are still many mechanics of both sides that the server does now have full authority over.
It's an architectural issue, that is not easily fixable in an existing, productive codebase.

I just don’t enjoy 1v4 as much as I used to because I’m high mmr so I go against the same strong killers everytime I log in. I get happy when I see a Huntress or a Ghoul nowadays lol
Maybe my mmr is not that high, but i vs a wide range of killers in my soloq games. Of course theres the occasional nurse or spirit, but mostly it's a mixed bag with wacky plays all around. I'm a lucky quanton.
-
It's power creep you are feeling, but jason being ranged was definitly intended.

A big problem is that if a perk isn´t op the community often sees it as trash.
Example:
A perk which gives you anti slug.
First question. Is it better than Unbreakable?
If the answer is yes it is freaking op but if the answer is no why shouldn´t you bring unbreakable.
Yeah, thats a great point. If a perk is good at anti tunnel, is it better than OTR and DS? No? Well then it's not worth bringing.
-
I think the killer has a high learning curve and has a high skill floor, comparable to unknown or pinhead for example.
But the power goes through walls and pallets, has no range requirement and no clear counterplay beyond obstructing the own position.
A clear case of a killer with no counterplay that is very weak, but also very strong in the right hands but easily countered.🫠
-
I love 1v4 because it is the most balanced mode for players with a bunch of hours.
2v8 feels terrible for me, because the casual players in this mode are no challenge in chase ror and as survivor i run the killer for minutes. Except for the time where both killers chase me. Then i go down instantly because you simply can't loop against two killers.
I acknowledge, that 2v8 is a great addition to dbd, but 1v4 is the bread and butter for me.
-
"Please play different so i have fun."
Sounds like a request, not an order.
-
We've got another one boys! Sofareks would be proud of you joining the syndicate soon.
I love billy so much he's hella fun with a very high skill ceiling. You will feel like a god the first time you manage to hit an S curve.
-
I think the judgement won't be a killer for me, but i'm really excited to play against it! It feels like a 50/50 killer coming after nurse and henry, i love those as survivor.
-
We are all creatures of the fog connected by a thin but nimble string that is the internet. Just ignore the other creatures if you prefer to. If you can't do that easily pretend it's bots. If you can't do that easily log off for the day and play some minecraft, i can recommend the Matcha Flavoured Datapack.

You know i play that lobby with default meg, naked ace and the obligatory sable
