Actual garbage from the part of the dev team that is hellbent on balancing around rank 20s. I thought maybe the reasonable voices that are still left had won out. But I guess not. Just keep alienating the skilled players and vets who put in the effort to learn counterplays and whatnot. That has never gone poorly for any game, ever. It's pretty clear that the OGs on the dev team are being drowned out by the new voices who are, quite frankly, clueless about how this game is played at a high level.
It's also pretty pointless balancing around rank 20s when they don't do anything else to make the experience any less crap for new players. The grind, the matchmaking, the lack of a practice mode or anything but the most basic tutorial should scare off any sane newcomer anyway.

I don't know why certain game devs do this, they know a thing doesn't work or people are displeased about it/think it's dumb af (Billy's roar for example, I find it hilarious but dumb, but the fact that it goes off even during Stealth add-ons/tinkerer, aka completely ruining the stealth you're going for, is...asinine) but they put in anyway because...we already did the work and we don;t want to admit it doesn't fit with the game we're trying to make or is extremely bad/flawed, so here you go anyway!
Like they may make little tweaks to try to make it look like they're listening, but they've already determined in it goes (even though a PTB is supposed to realistically be about testing things to see if they're fit to go in or even fit with that game at all, not to mention finding bugs and testing bug fixes) but instead the PTB is usually: "Look at this thing we're going to immediately add as soon as the PTB is over and if it doesn't work right attempt to hotfix later"
Like it's not even just BHVR that does this, LoL does it a hell of a lot. To the point one of their patches was the buggiest patch in all of LoL history (which is frankly, saying something) (should start from the patch I'm talking about, if not go to about 16:51)
https://youtu.be/x6w34cZS7fs?t=1012
Like, what's the point of having a place where players can test things out if you're just going to implement them when you originally planned to anyway?
The biggest thing LoL and DBD have in common though is their absolute spaghetti code and loads of bugs, plus their determination to release things exactly on time even when they really really SHOULDN'T, and that's really really sad.
Agreed. And as for the roar I'm pretty sure it's because of the stealth addons, with their current theme of "stealth is fine if the survivors are informed about it happening first" i.e. trail of torment
-
We should also make sure players strike a balance between M1 and M2 by having a separate overheat mechanic for the mallet. Okay not overheat because that doesn't make sense but maybe if you use your basic attack too much the mallet gets sticky and has to be washed. Constant micromanaging is what makes a killer truly fun and balanced.

Ok that's Cool and all
But where's the problem in that?
They want overheating to happen. People didn't like it, said it was unnecessary and unfun, but they've already put effort into making it so it's gonna happen anyway. See also: the stupid roar. They've already recorded it, so into the game it goes.

Presenting the guy in charge of balance. He has the final word on any and all changes

Its (framerate - lag too) gotten worse on console recently. To the point that I get weird whiffs at close range or survivors vanish somehow plus aim dressing becomes really apparent when the survivor moves even a little to the side.
They'll get around to us console plebs one day, I'm sure. But for now, repeatedly nerfing and unnerfing billy has to come first. It's just too important to worry about anything else.
-
They DC on loading screen even on console when the survivor queues are like 15 minutes sometimes
-
They really should stop releasing new killers until they sort out the ones they do have. Nurse is buggy, Myers has issues with stalking wrt the servers, GF has the same stalk issues and is just janky in general, oni seems pretty bug prone and spirit gets screwed by the sounds never working properly. And now plague joins the gang.
-
I'll give it a try. I want to get my teeth kicked in by a legacy nurse.
-
@ Antares2332 said:
I have played with the plague and I think they have solved the problem with the angle of the vomit but not the sounds of the survivors when they are infected
Well that's something I guess. Wish they would put things in the patch notes when they fix them. Maybe they fixed it accidentally.

What's needed are more killer obsession perks that disadvantage the obsession. Survivor perks that make you more likely to be the obsession like OoO or ones that make you into the obsession when used like DS or FTP seem to be trying to give a downside to compensate for the potential strength of the perk, but aside from rancor there's no popular killer o-perks that make that worth considering. STBFL gets you left alone. Dying light buffs you. PWYF means that the killer will deliberately prolong chases with you etc
More popular killer perks that make being the obsession not ideal wouldn't have to be as obnoxious as rancor or old dying light but might encourage some thought going into use of the survivor equivalents rather than literally no consequence 99% of the time. If not in perk form, then some inherent base advantage + disadvantage to being the obsession that might appeal to some but not all survivor players.

People actually dc if a Pig doesn’t let them boop? Every time I think I’ve heard the dumbest reason people dc, I’m always surprised by something even more dumb.
this has only happened a couple of times so it's not some widespread thing but enough to get on my nerves, I play survivor as well so I know having a teammate RQ at five gens is the worst.
-
@AvisDeene said:
People who do that are just entitled. I love to boop the snoot and if a Piggy lets me, I let them Kill me at the end of the trial. It just makes me happy to find players who play for fun and are not always looking to sweat.
I do normally let them live at least for a bit when they do it but not right at the start
-
Mine have been pretty good, I just had my first really bad one
I would almost always either farm or at least give hatch in this case but I don't know if that's gonna screw them more with the new system, so no mercy I guess
-
Discordance T2 is the one true discordance and anyone who thinks otherwise is a vile heretic.
-
If you're very good at hiding/blending then object of obsession with stealth perks is extremely irritating.
-
You've finished the rift already??

There's no way iri head isn't getting nerfed when it's her turn. They'll probably change it to an instadown after a certain distance, like slinger's but more useful.
The other iri add-on will probably be something like
- increases speed to 115 but hatchets can't down (deep wounds)
or
- turns off the lullaby for X seconds after a down with the hatchet
or
- reveals auras of all other survivors outside of the terror radius for X seconds after a down
Also they have a thing atm for addons that mimic base perks so expect a weird addon that reveals you when you go into the basement or something.

Yet that's what happened. Red ranks /cried for the queues to be opened so they could go up against brown ranks for easy matches vs inexperienced players and short wait times to the detriment of the health, well being and future of their -own- game. hmmm. sounds like red rank hand-holding to me which has been pretty much the way it's always been with everything so yeah I'm going with the consistent proven time tested pattern that's been developing for 4 years.
The main people complaining about the previous system were the ones who were getting screwed by it the most, which were killers from all ranks except red who got high ranked survivors anyway. The new system doing it in reverse, i.e. pairing rank 1 killers with rank 20 survivors, is obviously a sign that the new system isn't functioning correctly.
Suggesting that high ranked killers lobbied the devs to create a new system because they had the foresight to know that it wouldn't work in this specific way that would enable them to have some games against noob survivors until it was fixed sounds like a massive level of conspiracy and intrigue - and a lot more effort than just using a smurf account.

It's quite simple really for those with even the smallest amount of foresight.
Here, let me break it down for you.
- Red ranks are now allowed to bully Brown ranks. Rank 20 through 17 on an ongoing and consistent basis with all their characters because MMR hasn't worked.
- This is our NEW PLAYER BASE who have the potential to invest MONEY into our game which the developers need to add new content.
- Without these revenue streams from potential new players who are now being alienated from unfair matchmaking there will be no new content and no reason for new or existing players to stay around which in turn cuts their revenue streams off too.
- This means even less content, less matches until you have your empty lobby simulator you've always wanted in a sad little forgotten game in an even sadder, more forgotten corner of the internet.
All because Red ranks wanted short wait times with easy matches so they can bully new plays killing the game in the process by cutting it off at it's foundation.
What part of that do you fail to grasp.
MMR was not implemented so that red rank killers can destroy rank 20s. Portraying the current issues as a deliberate joint effort between veteran players and the devs to sabotage the game is nonsensical.
-
Swf can be countered to an extent Unbreakable can be countered to an extent (but can turn a loss into a win and is possibly the strongest survivor perk) DS -is annoying as ######### and can punish you for doing well but can still- be countered. Unbreakable and DS together is not counterable in any meaningful way and the best hope is the devs removing the ridiculous synergy it has.
-
I think it's strong enough that the gas messes with the survivors' vision, so bring affected by it should actually give the survivor haste instead of hindered

Yeah, copy and paste is just too intensive for a forum moderator, not like it's part of the role or anything
They're mods, their job isn't to explain whatever BHVR is currently up to it's to stop people advertising hacks, going too far with insults etc

We HAVE to do something!
-
Lerys is so bad right now. I was even having terrible frames as survivor. Another one dc'd after about 20 seconds and it was unplayable for the killer too so we just farmed. Think we need a road to 5 FPS
-
Name checks out
Nah I'm kidding, you are right. It's especially annoying when a lighthearted thread turns into the usual survivor vs. killer stuff. Or even better, into a DS/noed argument. People get rightly pissed off at the state of the game but also...just chill out for 5 minutes
-
From when I started (just before spirit's release) to around ghostface's release I played lots and often, I was hooked instantly. Since then I calmed down a lot and will play maybe a couple of evenings a week, sometimes with fairly long breaks from playing at all - usually when pissed off with it or distracted by something else - but I always stay up to date with what's going on.
-
I really don't care. Visible MMR would serve the same purpose as visible rank, to screenshot and put on here as a supporting document to why your opinion is correct. As long as it works properly soon, I'm happy enough.
-
When they get facecamped with devour hope, which I learned today is how the perk is actually used
-
It's not even the scummiest hex
-
Blendettes. I used to just mori them but now I can't even be bothered - also I can't mori them as survivor
-
Yeah I got my -escape with a used up item with open handed challenge-after a huntress with nurse's reached me just after I'd finished healing with a medkit, which is a good enough reason to dc I guess

I don't think "small pp" build can apply to me when I'm a woman.
Also, I do none of those things you mentioned, so uh ?
I guess you're one of those that are too immersive to ever have to use DS.
Oh I am like turbo immersed, I blend in nicely with all the rainbow coloured bushes and rocks in this game
"It's not just a phase, mom!"
Anyway I didn't give the combo that name but I don't think it's meant quite so literally. It's not about the small pp between your legs. It's the small pp in your heart.

@skarsguts said:
I gave in and unlocked Unbreakable yesterday because after 700 hours, I'm tired of being slugged for reasons not even related to DS. Now I will always run DS + Unbreakable.
Just like how I wouldn't have paid 6 bucks for DS if I didn't get tunneled game after game after game.
The way killers play causes survivors to run these things - so unless killers are going to stop playing like scumbags, no one should complain about survivor 'meta'.
Oh please. I play solo survivor mostly and you don't need the "small pp" build to escape any more than a spirit needs noed and stridor to stand a chance of doing well. People mainly run it because they want to be able to play like a complete moron without being punished for it. Zooming over to the killer after being unhooked, then going for a flashlight save, doing gens in front of them and jumping in and out of lockers - I don't need to wait til the endgame screen to see what they brought.
Run it if you like, but acting like those two perks are a necessity is ridiculous.
-
Fully support this. A nice message can make a lot of difference to a new killer, especially if the other messages they're getting aren't as nice

Sadly there is lack of empathy in this game, most people just play one side and barely touch the other side, I usually say "if you hate playing against X killer play as him and you will find a lot of things", I just hope that people stop being that biased and learn that the other side has issues, instead of being toxic they can just either empathize with the other side or just not being rude.
I think playing both sides is healthy but doesn't always help, I've seen people who do and they do the exact things they (heavily) complain about when they switch over i.e. you might have a meg ranting about being 'tunnelled' for being hit twice in a row and last week she was a bubba with an ebony moriing right off first hook.

Survivor games feel pretty consistent, killer seems pretty random but I haven't played 10 games with any specific one yet

Play to escape as survivor, play to kill as killer. The rest should come naturally. That's my guess, anyway.
I like giving the last survivor hatch or door especially if they're clearly new or a bit crap, but idk if that's really doing them a favour anymore.

His stream is just 3-4 killer games going against potatoes mostly. Must be his region, platform or most likely the time he plays the game at.
3 minutes into the game and they do no generator in one game I saw..
In any case pretty boring stream in my personal opinion.
Running agitation today? You seem a bit hostile...
