When matchmaking, ignore the rank of the lowest survivor if the SWF has more than 2 players. This problem would literally disappear overnight.
They changed it so that matchmaking is based on the highest rank in the squad, then sneakily changed it back, although the people who do this type of thing noticed

It's a party game, not an esport. This game is not balanced and never will be balanced. If you want to be competitive go play starcraft 2 or rocket league or other esport games.
Enough people treat it as one

Also slightly off-topic but I think they forgot about plague when they added the cankers you can harvest for the survivor rift challenge, bc you can puke on & infect them although they don't look infected...so probably not intended

I've been getting a lot more salt as plague recently...

You didnt mark if you had fun in the game!
Probably because it only goes up to 5, and this game was at least a 7

I watched a big name stream yesterday. This man has well over 5k hours but would be matched against brown rank players pretty often. This suggests that BHVR already removed every criteria for matchmaking other than getting the Survivors into a match asap. Since the qeue times are still pretty insane (except in the mornings, where I get instant lobbys in EU) there is apparently a significant shortage of players qeueing as Killer.
Which to me is kinda bafflin. I´m a Killer main (also play and enjoy Survivor regularly, like in every session I also play Survivor games) and overall it´s a great time to play Killer. Key spamming and Object aside ( seriously it´s gotten out of hand) the game is better balanced than ever before.
So if it isn´t a balance issue, my guess is that many players are deterred from playing Killer because of the unbelievable amount of BM and toxic behavior that is to be expected from many Survivors. People that have been playing DBD for long enough got used to it, but it makes keeping new Killer players less likely on top of the significantly higher skill requirements compared to Survivor.
So maybe qeue times would improve a little if people would be less spammy with "gg ez baby killer, ***, slurs" and all the good stuff you get to read 75% of Killer end game chats.
The times when I get the quickest killer queues/ longest survivor queues seems linked with getting the worst survivors (i.e. late night on weekends) Most survivors I otherwise get matched with usually are pretty friendly post-game but at those times it's salt when you win, salt when you lose, salt when you draw.

I play her a lot bit I suck at her
-
MYC in particular discourages tunnelling much like DS does, it's just a carrot instead of a stick. You should generally be happy to see even if it makes unhooking pretty stressful.
-
It is a decent perk though (not just on her) you hear injured survivors that would be out of your range otherwise, and iron will is annoying in general
-
I also went ps4 to steam and I miss my perks 😭 this time around I'm gonna be more discerning with what perks I unlock

He's not the worst killer as everyone says (Myers, Pig and Trapper are way weaker imo), but saying he's one of the best is simply super wrong. His mediocre 1v1 and no mobility makes him C tier at best. On maps like Cowshed and The Game where you have 200+ safe pallets Clown can literally do nothing.
I honestly never understood the point of Clown as a whole. For me he was always an easier Huntress that you don't have to be that good on aiming.
All of those three are better than him, the only killer I'd say is worse is wraith, and that's without decent addons
-
What the others have said, also you can still hit a survivor that's right in front of you after slamming, just quickly go M2 M1 and it's just like a regular hit

Imo some addons are OP, no killer perks are and as for killers at base...mostly fine, some are pushing it.
The issue is you can take one of the stronger killers and put on perks and addons that they don't actually need to do well to make a ridiculous "I'm actually terrified of losing" build.
And yes survivors can and do also rack up their advantages in the same way.

Head On + Quick & Quiet is pretty OP...
BUT I'm still awaiting the day that survivors figure out the true wombo-combo: Diversion + Red Herring.
Their pebbles will blot out the sun (er, moon) and we shall fish in the shade.
Their tactics will evolve from run and hide to Perch & Destroy.

Ahhhh pebblefish I adore it
On topic: buff spirit
-
They don't put any particular thought into how killers will work on console imo, although you're expected to pay the same price for them. Cyberbullying the devs until they give in to m&k support or becoming a ximmer might be the most viable options, sadly
-
Most of my memey builds are on freddy and spirit, bc honestly you'll probably 4k anyway
Freddy: pill bottle addon, any pallet addon, agi / mad grit / iron grasp, forced penance
Spirit:
anaprayer beads addon, any speed or duration addon, hexes TOTH / HG / ruin / devourSpirit: any addons but I'd go prayer beads again to scare anyone with oblivious, furtive chase / nemesis /myc/ rancor. Make the survivors play hot potato
Doc: sniper addons, I forget their names but the tape that turns it into a beam and green range. Hexes TOTH / HG / undying / retribution Defend totems obsessively, ignore gens and any survivors that haven't tried to interfere with them.

I haven't had any fun against the new killer either. They slug, stand over the body, send out Victor, and I can't even get to the person to try to get them up before Victor is on me. They're hooked, I'm downed, repeat. Meh. I've just added them to the list of killers that aren't fun to play against. I still prefer them over Ghostface.

Did they nerf devour hope somewhere?
Bugged it, with 5 stacks you have the green/ebony restrictions too afaik, i.e. they have to have been hooked twice
Wrt the changes I'm fine with them although they're kinda unimaginative, which is why I'm perplexed that it took this long. Why does increasing the hook requirement by one literally take years to do?
-
The game is completely hostile to new killers, they're thrown against survivors with hundreds if not thousands of hours of playtime and who have all the good perks unlocked, while they're expected to take them on with what, wraith with monstrous shrine and bitter murmur? I switched to pc last month so I'm starting from scratch and there's no way I'd've stuck with it if I were actually new. Survivors in red and purple ranks right from the start, including smurf squads with one player on their rank 20 alt account. How many games like that will new killers endure? It's not even that there are no low rank survivors, because now I'm back to purple the game is giving me rank 15s, because of course it is.

It varies a lot for me, during the night I get super fast survivor matches and my killer queues are longer, then during the day it's reversed.
Weird, I get the opposite and we're both UK afaik

The decision to buff/nerf things is a combination of statistics and probably picking things at random out of a hat (unless you have a better explanation for gearhead)
Contrary to popular belief, the devs don't rigorously patrol the forum, the subreddit, twitter replies etc ready toleap into action whenever some random survivor main calls something "boring"
"We've got a code red Mathieu, xX_t0x1c_pRinceSS_Xx just described trapper as 'boring' AND 'annoying' in a DBD PSN group"
"May God have mercy on us all. Christmas is cancelled until trapper is made fun for ALL survivors. I want him to start with 0 traps, I want padded jaws basekit, I want him able to get caught in his own traps while placing them and I want these things done NOW"

I've been thinking about this for a while now and honestly, if Blood Favor also blocked pallets that are dropped, that alone would already make it worthy of a hex perk. Hell, you might not even have to change any other aspect of the perk as long as it did that. I understand why the devs put so many restrictions on this perk. It was meant to deny survivors of the strongest defense tool they have against the killer, and there would be no way to balance that without it being a hex perk. As it is now though, it has too many restrictions for not nearly enough reward, and the real nail in the coffin is that it indirectly helps survivors by saving the pallets for them later. Unless you're playing Nurse or Pyramid Head, it is far better to get rid of pallets whenever possible.
If it blocked all pallets (dropped or not) and windows on the map for maybe a reduced duration and reduced cooldown it would be pretty cool. Kinda insane too but it is a hex after all

sometimes you must take it to make sure others aren't misunderstanding. this is called trying to help and i don't care too many think that free speech is a license to make anyone listen to them and when they don't get the response they want they cry the first amendment. this is the problem i've seen happening for the last 30 years and I'm tired of seeing the decline of understanding and learning.
It's weird when people being up the first amendment in online contexts. The internet isn't a US territory for one thing.

I had the same afk wraith twice in a row -.- stuck on a flashlight and spine chill after that just in case. When they buff him I hope they also add some mechanic to boot him out of cloak if he just stands around doing nothing.

Used to be, I could De-pip/De-rank to the more comfortable ranks playing killer as long as I had my Mori's. I could 3k the survivors after 1 hook each, and let the 4th get the hatch, and at red ranks that was frowned upon and rewarded with a de-pip. Say what you want, but at least by playing this way I earned decent BP and by de-pipping, gained what i was truly after: the fun ranks of DbD. I'm not talking "fun" as in "easy", I'm talking "fun" in that its no longer a sweaty slog-fest against team after team of DbD's most competitive players and SWF groups. Alas... those days are over now that mori's always guarantee a black pip at the minimum.
So, unlike the Pussy tactics described by OP, and without resorting to truly Pathetic and Cowardly DC'ing, I've taken it upon myself to embrace the losing/meme builds and have fun with trying to beat survivors with them, until I de-pip to where I want to be. I'm talking "Burger King Myers", "3 Iri-Hatchet Limit Huntress", "1 Blink Nurse". "No insta down Bubba/Billy", "Scrapped Tape/Sniper Doc" and my favorite so far "Stereotypical Gamer Blight". These builds up the ante on the difficulty for the killers, and are fun as hell to play. They reward decent BP while have little success, and every game actually won with them feels well earned.
I take umbrage to your comment that killers like me are "depipping Cowards too afraid to face their own ranks." and ask you... If you play at the top ranks of this game, do you actually never feel frustrated or burned out by it?
As for Killer mains Like myself, Use these builds, have fun, and only get serious when you feel comfortable. This is a game, and you still have control over how and when you rank up.
My old method for depipping for adepts was no perks no addons pre-rework bubba with haddonfield offerings
-
Telling them not to isn't gonna work, sadly. But you have a point, killers who tunnel the first survivor into the ground when there's no obsession have no right to complain about DS
-
@Yords said:
Yeah, they can be either very un-altruistic, or too altruistic. There is no in between. I have literally had a match where everyone went down to a demo AFTER I cleansed NOED. One wanted flashlight saves, the other one wanted sabo plays, and the third one just went down easily and was on the hook. I went down due to the the killer having mcdonalds wifi... I promise.
They can be both too - take a protection hit when the killer has two metres to carry you, then when you actually could wiggle off it's time to get in a locker for no reason
-
Hard to say, I get found a lot first but I also run around like an idiot straightaway. Your hearing problems could play into it, they should add the visual cue that mobile has as an option, but accessibility seems pretty low in their priorities, sadly :/
Edit: with problems hearing the terror radius both stake out and diversion work kinda as a visual clue
-
I've been using it a lot BC I had nothing else on blight and it's pretty terrible thanks to all its restrictions
a) it's a hex
b) it has a cooldown
c) it has a very limited range
d) basic attacks only
If some of these things were adjusted there might be something to work with but right now it's only useful against survivors who waste their hit boost to throw the pallet. And then it goes on cooldown anyway. And then explodes.

It is working, but it is supposed to let killers with 200ms ping still get hits, so don't expect hits through windows to disappear.
That's the opposite of what it's supposed to do
-
I totally forgot about the perk after it came out and got battered by a 4-man squad, two with deception and two with head on. I was very perplexed 😭
Despite that ordeal, I think the perk's fine. Pebble is kinda crap in comparison but I'd rather see pebble improved than deception nerfed
-
Also a solo survivor and I lose enough teammates to DCs even with them on.
-
Noed can be annoying af yes, especially when you're solo and die to it after cleansing 'only' three or four totems yourself (go team!)
But also if like 10% of the effort that's been put into complaining about noed on this forum was spent on cleansing dull totems it would be the most useless perk ever, literally worse than monstrous shrine.
Incidentally I don't run noed but as I don't have many perks in general I've sometimes been using thrill of the hunt on its own because why not. As it comes with a built-in totem counter, the amount of games I have, win or lose, that finish with 3, 4 or even all 5 totems undisturbed, is ridiculous. And that is why noed works.
-
Not that many killers have killer instinct and this doesn't really affect other killers apart from legion (you can occasionally find a survivor in a locker if they're close enough to a demo portal but that's rare)
This would mostly just be a legion nerf, which isn't really needed. They have less tracking ability using their power than spirit does using hers, so any survivor in an area with multiple lockers could just vanish whenever they like.
-
What streamer was it anyway?

I hard disagree.
My Myers runs Rancor/Nemesis/Furtive Chase/Deathbound. I get compliments.
My Pyramid Head runs Nemesis/Dark Devotion/Ruin/Blood Warden. They seem to like it.
My Blight runs Hex: Retribution/Thrill of the Hunt/Undying/Discordance. They really want to cleanse those totems...you know?
My Trapper is meta but...I normally play him to destroy, not to play. (I play around anyway but don't tell anyone.)
It's all in the execution. Of course, and people will be executed whether they like the builds or not.
Approve of the weird totem build, have had a surprising amount of survivors die desperately trying to cleanse my thrill of the hunt/haunted grounds combo on sniper doc
-
A lot of people do feel the need to run perks like DS, especially considering what often happens in matches without an obsession. I don't have DS anymore since switching platform and there's usually plenty of examples why. As usual the solution to problems with game design is a perk. A perk that comes with licenced DLC. And is prone to abuse and ridiculous synergy. And often feels mandatory.

@EvanSnowWolf said:
This is what happens when Survivors act like jerks to Killers. When you outnumber them 4 to 1, you are already at a huge disadvantage in terms of queue. Maybe you should quit the BM behavior and asking Behavior to stomp on Killers and their ability to play with constant nerfs to how they are run and you won't have such a long queue.
Or you can keep pulling your endgame collapse gate antics and enjoy your hyper-long queue times. It's up to you.
Yeah survivors who do things like that then complain about queue times and only facing freddy or spirit...
as for the issue itself possibly increased bp, -and- increased xp for shards for playing whichever role is currently needed, and maybe some charm for playing whatever is needed often enough idk. Something more enticing than BP alone anyway.
-
I'd prefer something like a weaker base kit DS for a short period after getting unhooked, with a stun lasting for a shorter period, maybe revealing the aura of any survivor who unsafely unhooked you. I.e. something that's "anti-tunnel" but not locked behind a cash-only dlc
-
I've thought about it before, I think it'd be cool. He wouldn't be the first killer who can go through walls, and it'd be a big buff bit still wouldn't make him anywhere near as insane as her. Might make me feel actually semi-nervous going against a wraith
-
@PlantCollector said:
Claudettes/ Blendettes, by far.
They are either useless or toxic.
Also lets keep on making cool looking outfits for this character even though everyone is using the P3 outfits so they can blend.
I always appreciate a Claudette dressed normally/brightly.
I dislike Quentins. They're usually arseholes, insist on one-upping the killer by being uglier than them, also never fully recovered from the disgust of seeing lobbies full of them back when wake up enjoyed a few weeks of being a meta perk.
-
Pretty rude just handing out that title without going against me. My crowning huntress achievement is hitting a survivor 50 metres away while aiming at one right in front of me.
But more seriously who cares that your rank 17 opponent is bad? It'd be weirder if they weren't.
-
Yes you do have to rely on your power a lot as a 4.4 and should be using it in chase pretty much whenever you can. Don't even phase for the full duration as spirit unless you're just travelling to another part of the map, short bursts get you it back even quicker. Chases as spirit shouldn't be lasting long at all unless the survivor is pretty clever & has iron will.
P.S. I love you Komodo16!
-
I actually find the video kinda endearing although I don't get the point it wants to make. Should devs make an effort to become gods at the game by playing it every second they aren't working on it? Like never mind sleep or or having any hour of your life that isn't dbd-focused...
Losing the lullaby interactions with doc isn't as painful as when they stopped snapping out of it working with nurses' calling anyway </3
