I understand that but Sprintrap is the main bad guy of the entire series he'd make more sense than Freddy since he's just another victim of Springtrap. though I could see Freddy maybe being a legendary skin
That's completely fair. Freddy has been the icon for the series. Its in the title. Also this is subjective but I believe Freddy (and the original 4 all together) have more creepier designs than Fnaf 3 Springtrap. Imagine seeing Bonnie's uncanny face in the distance while doing a gen. I'd be so for that.

Since Security Breach released could this give a bigger chance that William Afton will arrive in the realm soon and if he did do you think he'd come in with a legendary skin that turns him into Burntrap?
Fnaf 1 Freddy should be the killer. Not Springtrap/William Afton. The series should be represented by its older games.

I'll start by saying that I'm not trying to throw any shade here. People come and go over the years, and I really don't expect anyone to catch every single thread we've responded to or remember every time we've answered something. I'm willing to bet there's a good chunk of people who weren't even around last time we talked about it, but we have indeed brushed upon this in the past.
First of all, I just want to clear up this idea that we are only thinking about this now that SBMM is a thing. I can safely say that it is not the case. Over the few years I've been here, there have been loads of conversations about not only this, but many other hot topics that for one reason or another have to get shelved for a while (whether that's time constraints, bottlenecks, bigger fish to fry, etc.).
We shared this statistic because it gives something concrete to aim for. Previously, we only had ranks 1-20 to work on, and due to the way ranks worked- and since there's not a whole lot of granularity when you only have 20 ranks to work with- players of wildly varying skill levels ended up lumped together. I think anyone who's reached rank 1 on the old system knows that it's not necessarily purely about skill. Just by virtue of playing a lot, many people would end up climbing to rank 1 even if that wasn't where they were most comfortable.
As a result, the data wasn't very reliable and the gap appeared far smaller than it really was. Does that mean the gap didn't exist? No, absolutely not. Sure, we could feel a difference playing matches, but I think we can all agree that blindly aiming for a target that you cannot see is not a good idea. Doing so makes any change we could do very risky, as it could be totally overkill and buff Survivors way too much, or not enough and still leave solo Survivors behind (as well as wasting development time that could be spent on other issues). Even after the fact, it'd be hard to say whether or not the change was effective because we don't have anything but our gut feeling to determine if it worked.
With SBMM, on the other hand, we're able to see much more accurate info on just how big the difference is at different skill levels, and more importantly, we have something we can monitor to see how effective any changes are. It gives us a tangible goal beyond "This feels a little better I guess." Now if we do a change, we can see exactly how much the gap has closed (whether it's gone, unchanged, or smaller than before).
But moreover, the main reason we shared this info- both the statistic and the mechanic- is to be more transparent. I think anyone who's been around for a while can vouch for the fact that we normally don't talk about mechanics like this so early on. It's something that people have been asking for and it's something we've been pushing for as well. We genuinely believe it's better to be open about it and frame the things we're suggesting with reasoning rather than dropping it as a surprise with no context.
On a personal level, I find it a pretty disheartening that when we do push to reveal things earlier like this, it's often met with conspiracies, fearmongering and passive aggressive jabs at the team. I always get excited when we're able to good news like this with the community, especially when it's a big topic like the SWF gap. But it's really disappointing to see something that people have been asking for somehow get twisted into something negative. Even still, I stand by the fact that it's better to be transparent and share these details than the keep them locked away until the last second.
Mad. Respect.

I believe someone from BHVR confirmed that the original IP holder denied permission for the voice lines.
I would really need to see a source for that.

Dang is the community about to embark on a major DBD research? I'm totally all for that.

I think it's more with regards to the fact that Hellraiser now has a different IP owner who okay'd the voice lines.
Maybe, but we will truly never know. Pinhead uses his actual VA now which could indicate legal issues. It could also be just a detail by BHVR.

Maybe is this the reason why the voices are back too?
Boss Protocol stated on their discord that they have no control as to why the voice lines were removed.

I dont want to take it even more far, but are you guys considering removing the Rainbow-Flag-Charm since people are getting harassed for using it? I personally got often facecamped and insulted as many disgusrting things just because I used this charm.
With that logic I am kinda worried that we could lose it aswell.
Removing would imply that Dbd is a safeground for homophobes.

The skinned faces didnt look that good anyway. They were mere texture changes.

Killers are so upset their awful cosmetic is being removed that they've started comparing t-bagging to LITERAL racism, AND it's getting upvotes.
Be angry at yourselves, it's killer mains that are targeting black folks with this cosmetic but y'all so angry that BHVR is actually doing something against harassment that you're jumping through as many hoops to try and paint it on survivors.
Shameful
This sums up the anger from the community.
-
They should also remove the sea-theme cosmetics, so that bait like this wont be thrown out.

How's everyone doing today? Is the framerate better after the patch?

Just wanna add this: Even if it was ultimately supposed to be a linked set, they're still charging like it was a 3 piece set for something that is literally 2 piece. They shouldn't get away with something like that

What if he keeps the generic theme and everyone else gets their own theme?
Then it can be his theme.
Trapper represents Dead by Daylight's original premise so the OG chase themes will fit him perfectly

This whole thread is essentially a mini-forum inside of the official forum lol Anywho Scott just released a video that apparently makes the game 120 fps on PC:
Are the devs aware of stuff like this? Do we need to get another large gaming figure to comment on the poor framerate for BHVR to take action?

yes. but most of the time you won't even notice the cooldown.
While that can be true if Ghostface can turn it on/off when there's no cooldown then Wraith's/Pig's power will be more obsolete compared Ghostface.

I'm no game developer but given that they have neglected the performance issues on consoles for so long perhaps the game is beyond repair? I really think this is the case but BHVR won't admit to it.
There's truly only so much you can improve upon a 2016 game. Then again Fortnite was 2017 and to my knowledge there's a myriad of new content being released so often

*ghostface presses a button
His stealth power has a cooldown to it. That's the caveat. Amanda's has a transfer time and so does Wraith along with a sound indicator. These need to exist for game balancing

Yes, I'll never understand what the point of this was
Turning off your terror radius is a significant power to have as a killer. There must be some caveats to not make it too powerful.
-
Checking on this thread every now and then. A bit side noted but is this the largest thread this forum has ever had? Maybe it could mean something to BHVR.

Any kind of buff towards Trickster. Being so slow and ineffective is a pain to killer mains and survivor mains since being weak encourages area camping. Everyone would benefit.
-
Oh.
Oh ######### yes.
-
Survivor Perk: Finishing Touch
Once you are chased by a killer for 40/35/30 seconds, Finishing Touch activates. A pallet stun will last up to 5 seconds. Has a cooldown of 120 seconds.
"Here it is... my finishing touch!"
-
I just so happen to like playing as a female. That's all.
-
They needed to fill that gap from Twins to the RE announcement. The marketing must stay consistent though so BHVR must've worked around time constraints. Such as no teaser trailer and shadow-dropping a new killer as an update. They at the very least added new major content even with the price of being delivered differently.
-
According to the feedback Trickster needs at least one of three things:
- A buff from 110% to 115%. The community leaders might be tired of hearing this one but it's possibly to most effortless (but appropriate) buff he could get. He could have the mid-risk, low-reward ranged power while keeping the speed advantage that the game is built around. A compromise that could help him differentiate from Huntress.
- A rework of the laceration feature. Landing knives doesn't feel rewarding. Even if you down a health state, the effort of achieving that goal doesn't feel rewarding either. Instead of changing the knife count, maybe there could be separate mending for each knife. Or laceration starts to decay after a long period of time (i.e. a whole minute). Giving a setback to being struck by knives can add into Trickster's pressure as a whole. Survivors can make a choice to mend away knives if they want, or they could be more cautious if they still have laceration. Either choices will waste time for survivors. (And honestly the image of a victim painfully pulling out knives from their wounds seems like such a thing Trickster would do)
- Have Main Event activate by command. Main Event sheer throw rate can help Trickster easily down one person quickly even through both health states. If the players aim was precise (Which Trickster mains will no doubt practice on) then it could potentially down/injure multiple survivors. The real issue is that you can't use Main Event in the situations most fitting for it. Just imagine you and another survivor are on a gen. Suddenly you see Trickster with Tinkerer appearing from a corner. Main Event activates. Injuring you and downing your friend. That honestly sounds terrifying.
It's okay if people don't agree with these summaries. Just some food for thought to anyone on the team. I love Trickster so much. I'm half-Korean and never expected representation like this in a video game. His design and lore was executed so well. He's missing the few notes from a perfect song.
-
Have the devs confirmed the license killers could get chases themes? We all now the OC killers will.
Also unpopular opinion, but the vanilla chases themes already fit Trapper very well and they belong to him.
-
Nobody has mentioned that this could lead into potential perks in the future. Imagine a perk that slows the struggle process based off of tokens. Removing the skills checks as an added bonus.
-
(But seriously though please buff him BHVR)
-
You and me friend. Thankfully there's a demand for it but it's not loud enough.
