Feel like last year, it was easy to get cakes on survivor. Especially when u get so many bloodpoints in 1 match. I still have over 1k cakes on my gabriel, but that's because I actually did p100 in one go during anniversary (never doing that again).

Really? Hmm, interesting. I remember being frustrated with medkits etc. getting in the way. I'm pretty sure that I would get much more on killer in a single prestige.

Also off-topic, but seeing Gabriel profile picture always brings a smile to my face. He's such a good boy :)

Its not discrimination. Its just good business.

I mean…. the bundle with 2 Mikaela skins in it… she's popular, those skins will sell well either way. I personally do love her and her skins.

But let's take Jeff or Adam… their skins must be selling less. Imagine if they put their skins in a bundle. Now that's when people would say, "hmm it's discounted, so why not".

I myself have bought Felix's Gold and Silk cosmetic recently, because it was discounted. Usually I wouldn't since it's a set, and I personally don't find it that appealing. But the discount incentivized me to buy it. I am susceptible to that, and others are as well, I'm sure. I would love bundles with male suvivor skins.

I personally think that that would be a part of good business. Put discount on what sells less.

At least the hiding places should get better, so I can also hide myself with Jeff or David. It has been overdue for years. 80% of trees are too slim for male survivors. Filler loops and other stones/bushes of low height will perfectly hide any female survivor besides Jane and Haddie (and the Elf), but any male survivor will stick out their head above.

There are also generally cute/sexy male survivors like Felix, Steve, David or Renato, but for some reason, cute female Survivors are more popular than guys with a sixpack. Even though the community is thirsty for shirtless XXX.

If I remember correctly people complained about Haddie's lack of cosmetics because she had interesting lore and wanted to play her but she was missing her green cosmetics from the beginning. The first purple outfit after release was a set and the other one was a prime reward. So there was basically just recolor if you did not want to spend money (purple outfits were usually AC only back then).

True Haddie is not the only forgotten female in dbd but the most prominent as Zarina, Yui and Elodie all had their full cosmetics on release and also got pretty decent stuff afterwards. They mainly suffered from bad cosmetics and a bad release schedule later.

In addition, if you only promote certain characters through cosmetics (Feng, Nea, Kate, Mikaela) then those will get played more naturally. This means more money which means more cosmetics fotör these characters. Repeat till eternity.

Yeah, this abundant promoting of the most popular characters is strengthening the imbalance between the pick rate of survivors. Honestly there's no justification for Nea getting a Deep Rift outfit two rifts in a row. As much as they look good. It could have been Jake. It would have been his first Deep Rift outfit (I'm pretty sure), and he would get some needed love finally.

And…. Meg gets a recolored outfit in almost every rift, it feels. Why not Claudette? Or Jake? I would love to see those.

Fun fact about Chris: he was teased to be the RE1 version in the very first trailer he did appear with Jill, Leon, Claire and Nemesis.

    https://xxboxnews.blob.core.windows.net/prod/sites/2/2021/06/DBDxRE_keyart_wlogo_nolegals_1080p.jpg

But for some reason and without saying a word, on live we got the body of RE1 Chris (less buff than his RE5 version, with his STARS outfit) but with the face like his RE5 version. I literally never understood why they did this without even saying a word…

Yeah, that was really strange. Although his RE 5 face didn't get translated well into DBD. It's quite off, especially from the front. I'm still waiting for them to fix it.

It's literally wasting money on something unnecessary...

It gives me joy, makes me happy. Definitely not unnecessary (for me). I understand that a lot of people don't care about cosmetics, and that's fine. Cosmetics are made for us that do love them though.

  • @Chiky said:

cosmetics are just cosmetics... who cares. They are keeping the male/female character ratio pretty fine

I care. Cosmetics matter a lot to me. And when we have to wait for ages for male onesies, casual clothes for Gabriel, or sale bundles for male survivors, and none of those are coming, then it sucks.

  • @DerpedByDave said:

At first I thought this was a troll post but I think you're onto something,

I think if the game had some kind of balance detection system that can detect if your a killer with trap setup or poor traversal on a bigger map, when these certain conditions are met the "entity" could decide to interfere and apply a form of corrupt at the start of a trail.

Tho survivors would never stop complaining about this,

I honestly would not have issues with basekit corrupt, as a survivor player. I think that it would actually give killers the opportunity to chill and not bring 3-4 slowdowns, and/or tunnel/camp hard.

  • This screenshot is from a today's match. As you can see, the issue that I reported 3 months ago STILL hasn't been fixed.

The status of this report is set as "acknowledged", and it still hasn't been fixed after 3 months. May I ask why this is taking so long?

I did a clean reinstall for this Midchapter, too. I would like some answers, please.

Still awaiting for a survivor to get Trickster like cosmetics….

Oh wait I have to be a murderer and a villain to be a pretty/cute male that's how it works.

ALSO THE MALE RIG IS ABYSMAL, FIX IT.

I would love such cosmetics for male survivors. I want more hair style and color variation, too. Like, give us pink haired Adam alreadyyyyy 😔and blonde Jonah.

  • @CrypticGirl said:

I actually have to wonder who's really doing the discrimination here. So it's true that they're promoting a lot of female character skins because it "gets them more money." But guess what? You see a lot more female Survivors being played than males. I know I do. When I play a male Survivor, I'm usually the only male on the team. When I play a female Survivor, it's a full team of girls.

So I say if we want BHVR to show more love to male Survivors, we need to show more love to them ourselves. Play them more.

I thought the same thing when people were complaining about the lack of Haddie cosmetics. I hardly saw anyone playing her. I still don't, even now. The lack of cosmetics shouldn't be a reason not to play a character. If we really love a character, we'd play them regardless of how many or few cosmetics they have. But apparently we don't love those characters enough.

Well, for me cosmetics do matter. I've got finally got interest in Adam, since they've started giving him fun outfits. Before that, I just found him boring. I used to find Zarina boring, too, and that's mostly because her outfits just didn't cause that "oomph" within me. But she's been slaying with outfits for the past year or 2. Her style is very distinct, she's got a really good vibe, and now I really, really like her. I get bored of a survivor if I don't have at least a few outfits on them that I really like, because I love and enjoy changing cosmetics quite frequently.

I do play a lot of male survivors, actually. But a lot of people don't. Now, imagine if dev bundles offered male survivor cosmetics at discounted price… People would get tempted, because it's cheaper than usual. And then they would give a chance to those survivors. Instead, they have featured Mikaela twice, one of the most popular survivors in the game. I love her, she's one of my favorite female survivors, but she does not need help with sales. Especially not so much to be featured twice within the span of 5 weeks.

Now, if they offered me a Haddie bundle, I would be really tempted to get it.

  • Also, I really don't get why this week's Dev bundle has 2 Mikaela skins. Like, there is no way that Mikaela's cosmetic sales are generally bad, that she needs this help. Just, no way.

If anything, the devs could use these Dev bundles to boost the sales of male survivor skins, since they in general sell less. You're better off leaving people buy Mikaela's skins at full price (people will buy them at full price, no worries), but discounted bundles would really help out male survivors (especially someone less popular like Jeff or Jake).

In my opinion, using Dev bundle discounts mostly for female survivors is feeding greatly into further spreading the imbalance of the popularity between female and male survivors. The bundles are a perfect opportunity to get those male survivor cosmetics sell, yo. Why are you not taking it?

These bundles are a perfect opportunity to popularize male survivors (killers are a different story though, since people choose them based on their power, rather than appearance/voice/cosmetics).

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

The male survivors do feel like an afterthought a lot of the time, not going to lie.

I love and play all of the survivors, but mostly males. I am very close to having my 2nd P 100 too (I have Ace, and soon Jonah). I've bought a LOT of auric cells a few weeks ago, anticipating a weekly bundle that could catch my eye…. and still nothing. I bought Felix's outfit recently on a sale, and also David's outfit from the last week's sale. I bought the charm bundle with David's figurine.

I have the money, but BHVR is not giving me what I want. Male survivors' outfit are most likely selling less than females' in general, so having these weekly bundles as a chance to sell those male survivors' outfit (by creating a discount) seems like a great opportunity. I don't get why this hasn't been happening at all.

    Resident Evil survivors

At the release, the faces of Jill, Claire & Chris were not true to the original. After some time, BHVR has adjusted Jill's and Claire's face, to much more closely resemble the original faces (from RE games).

Guess who still doesn't have his face adjusted: Chris Redfield. A male survivor. And he doesn't have his iconic BSAA outfit, for some reason. When can we expect Chris Redfield to have his face adjusted to look like his RE 5 self? And when can we expect his RE 5 outfit on him? (currently, the outfit is only worn by Felix Richter)

Something I've noticed without slow-down is a good amount of the time gens go pretty fast, hoping they add a secondary objective to slow stuff down.

I feel like having Corrupt Intervention would solve so many problems… I've had troubles of not being able to find survivors at the start, so I lose a lot of time while gens get done. Corrupt Intervention helps a lot with this.

  • I absolutely agree! I have been really enjoying this Chaos Shuffle mode. It's so nice knowing that the killer you play against almost certainly doesn't have 3 or 4 slowdowns. It's so nice knowing that the potential SWF you're playing against doesn't have guaranteed Dead Hard, Windows etc. It's pure randomness, and it's fun for all! :D

Also, some perks that I've got, that I rarely use, have surprised me in good ways. Like, I basically never use Eruption, but I've got it a few times now through this mode, and I've had fun with it!

I think that having this as a permanent game mode would really help people chill, and not be so tense about winning.

  • I got the crimson banner before the totem badge, for some reason. And I just got the totem badge a few hours ago, finally. I'm still missing the last banner, even though I've watched enough on Twitch for it.

  • Same here. I was the only one in the match that didn't get any perks. I changed my offering either in the private lobby or the lobby with others, so that might have caused it?

IMO all stuns, not only DS should remove killer power, not by disabling it, but removing power tokens

Huntress and Deathslinger don't have tokens… Disabling M2 and CTRL takes care of that.

  • Have you done a clean re-install of the game since this Midchapter patch? I've heard recommendations of doing that, to help with some issues. Thankfully I uninstalled and re-installed the game at the day of the patch, and I haven't had too many issues.

  • @Xernoton said:

Once again, they nerf the wrong thing. The duration was fine. If anything they could have increased the stun time even more. But get rid of bodyblocking with DS.

Yeah, aggressive use of DS has been silly. This week I've had teammates who threw just to DS the killer. I unhooked a Feng with Borrowed Time and Babysitter. She had incredible protection from that and could have left the hook, I was even catching the killer's attention. Instead, she stayed at the loop and walked, and did her best to bait DS. And she did.

I also had a Feng who got downed after being unhooked. The killer chased the people who were trying to pick her up. I managed to get to her, and would have picked her up, but she kept interrupting the heal. She wanted to DS the killer so bad. In the end, the killer picked her up after her DS timer expired, and then she DC-ed, I'm pretty sure.

I also had a Steve who could have picked me and another person (we were downed), but instead he just stood where killer could see him, and then proceeded to enter the locker and pull off the DS followed by Head On.

Anyway, I agree, you should lose collision with the killer when you have DS, or something like that, so the killer knows it's better to leave you alone, and also that you can't bodyblock for others.

  • I hope BHVR will start considering the entire range of killers (weakest to strongest) when changing perks. In this case, Decisive Strike can't cover them all just by changing the stun time. 3 second stun means the tuneneled survivors suffer. 5 second stun means the weak M1 killers suffer.

3 second stun + disabling M2 and CTRL sounds like a good idea. A Trapper wouldn't even go for setting a trap after being DS-ed, he would try to get an M1 down. So he wouldn't be hurt by the disabling of killers' powers. On the other hand, Huntress, Nurse, Blight, Deathslinger etc. don't care much about the 5 second stun, since they can use their M2/CTRL to quickly nullify the DS value. They precisely would get in control with this disabling of killers' powers, since they would have to walk and try for an M1, until they can use their powers.

Parts of killers' powers that are outside of M2 and CTRL don't matter, in my opinion. Those happen naturally, and are not really under the control of the killer.

What about stepping in Trapper traps?

The rest seems OK and I really like that idea. I would not make it longer than 10s though.

I don't think that's a big problem. Except for the killer shack (with basement) being completely shut down by traps. But that's another problem.

  • @Quizzy said:

Somewhere on here a dev said it would be too complicated to disable a killer's powers and there would be issues with monitoring how it would effect strong and weak killers.

yeah, I read that post from the dev. And then I heard someone elsewhere suggest to just disable the buttons for killers' powers instead - M2 and CTRL by default. That simplifies the whole thing tremendously.

  • @Ohyakno said:

That sounds like a nurse problem. Are you advocating for 5s stun on top of disabling killer powers?

Nope, I've commented before on a few forums threads that 3s stun + disabling killers powers for x seconds would be good. But if killers' powers are not disabled, then any second stun is not gonna cover tunneling by all sorts of killers.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/413338/evil-incarnate-achievement

It would prolly be better to change this achievement/trophy, but sadly that is not an easy thing to do at all.

I agree. It is an achievement that punishes both the killer and the survivors. I actually faced a double iri Myers today. One of my teammates gave up on hook, so he couldn't get the achievement (in case he was trying to get it, I forgot to check).

  • Guys, do you think survivors will ever be able to find the totem featured in this picture? sorry, it's kinda funny xD

Seriously though, totems should be hidden away.

  • This could be a possibly acceptable nerf (not really) if we still had the old CoH, where anyone could heal themselves, but with the current boons, this would destroy them. I almost never see anyone run boons nowadays.

  • I agree. I would LOVE to have outfits with these designs. They look very good, and are only available to a small portion of people. I would pay for them!

  • I'll just throw this in:

Billy shouldn't be able to just camp in endgame with his chainsaw being constantly revved up. There is no counterplay to that. With Bubba you can at least trigger his chainsaw's cooldown, with Billy you can longer do anything. Unless you are a highly organized 4-man swf, where one can unhook after another one takes the hit, and then you can pull off a flashlight save afterwards.

  • The Haddonfield map is currently too small . It's not even funny. No map should be that small. Coal Tower has the perfect minimum size, in my opinion. No map should be (much) smaller than Coal Tower (excluding 2-storey maps).

  • Yeah, I would love to see rifts as ways to help bridge the disparity between the frequency of cosmetics that the more popular survivors get, and those that the less popular survivors get. Store releases are one thing, and people usually use real money to buy them. And more popular characters will sell more. But at least the rifts soften that because there are multiple reasons to buy rift passes. Just having recolors of cosmetics for Haddie or Gabriel would be warmly welcomed.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3708144#Comment_3708144

I'm not an audio engineer myself, but I do actually work with some truly exceptional audio engineers, and have learned enough to know how little I know. I am mostly regurgitating information I've gotten from them here, but just to debunk some misconceptions, turning up audio is definitely not as simple as "opening the file in audacity and turning up the volume".

To change the volume you can try to raise or lower the gain a small amount and avoid any distortion, but it isn't a guarantee, and the further you push it, the more likely/more severe the distortion you can get. Even small adjustments can screw up the waveform.

You can try to normalise the signal by finding the maximum(or minimum) absolute sample in the waveform and then scale the whole waveform so that those limits value hit the dBFS (decibels relative to full scale) ceiling/floor of the system to avoid distortion, but even then it can create a result that doesn't sound right or butchers certain frequencies.

I imagine this is likely the issue BHVR hit, and sadly the true best way to fix it is to record it again but louder. You can try and correct it with software, but there is only so much you can do.

Edit: Ofc in this brave new world of AI, it might be possible to create an AI that can basically record a new version by basically impersonating the survivor... but you'd need to teach it somehow.

Thank you for sharing this info with us. I didn't know changing the volume could have such complications.

  • I've come across a Twitter post that expands on this, and shows how there's been a lack of varierty in characters in recent rifts. Very good points made, and worth checking out, in my opinion:

    https://twitter.com/dvveet/status/1783921546408468948

David, Élodie, Jonah and Vittorio have not been included at all in the last 5 rifts !!

Not to mention that David has not been in a rift ever since he was revealed to be gay. Thankfully, his long store cosmetics drought seems to have finally ended, but he's still nowhere to be seen in rifts. Our first official LGBTQIA2S+ character.

Rifts especially are chances for you to give less popular characters skins, since there are many cosmetics in the rift, and a few cosmetics for unpopular characters should not affect Rift pass sales that much.

  • @Mooks said:

I am pretty sure I read an official statement that they tried to do it but it was harder than they anticipated. Dont know if they dropped it altogether or just postponed it indefinitely..

I would guess sounds in this game are already very prone to being buggy and just running them through some software would result in some unwanted sounds and they also need approval for all the licensed characters…

As to those phantom skillchecks… yeah annoying but they are kinda a feature currently and you should always be aware that letting go of a gen has a chance of notifying the killer. And regressing the gen.

I don't agree about the unhittable skill checks being a feature. There is basically no counterplay to them. Due to bad luck you alert the killer and/or ruin an almost done gen. The only thing you could do is wait out a skill check if you urgently need to let go, but sometimes the skill check won't appear for 20+ seconds. And then when you do let go, it appears and bam! -10% off a gen. Very annoying for a lot of us.

  • @ChainsLogic said:

Playing Jill is an actual detriment when playing survivor lol.

Yeah, and it's such a pity… We could have more variety of survivors if they were equally loud.

  • I agree that Soul Chemical and the Summoning Stone were really fun, unique addons before, and now they are boring. I REALLY hope that you give them back their original functions.

Also, could you please do something about the Blight's iridescent addons? The combo is way too strong.

  • I mean, they just switched engines, so it was expected that a lot of bugs appear. And even after fixing a lot of the PTB bugs, new ones were likely to pop up. It'll take some time, but they'll iron out the bugs as they get used to Unreal Engine 5.

I heard today a recommendation to freshly re-install DBD, that it helps with certain issues. Thankfully, I intuitively did a clean re-install for this update, just in case.

  • @Peanits said:

As others have mentioned, there is no cap to healing speed or any action speed for that matter, but because they increase your speed and not decrease the time it takes, stacking them has diminishing returns.

To give an example, healing takes 16 charges, and by default you heal one charge per second. With a 100% bonus, you heal 2 charges per second, shaving the total time taken down to 8 seconds (half the time!). Meanwhile with a 200% bonus, you heal 3 charges per second, only knocking it down to 5.33 seconds. That first 100% bonus saved 8 seconds, but the second 100% bonus only saved an additional 2.66 seconds. With a whopping 400% speed, your healing time would be reduced to 4 seconds.

While it's possible to get a really high healing speed by stacking perks in theory, there comes a point where it's not really worth stacking any further, and where trying to get the various conditions to be active at the same time is more trouble than its worth (and often out of your control).

Thank you a lot, Peanits, for your input! I really appreciate your time and the examples you gave. I now understand much more how well things go together, and what I can combine for good results (and when it can be redundant). I heard before that the healing speed was capped, so it's great to now finally get an official confirmation that it's not. 😀

  • @crogers271 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/411962/maximum-healing-speed

I don't think anyone answered the group healing question - to my understanding there isn't.

I think the hypothetical fastest possible heal (injured survivor to healthy) would be 1.439 seconds - that would be two survivors starting a heal simultaneously with the following perks

We'll Make It, Botany Knowledge, Desperate Measures (all injured), No One Left Behind (gens powered), medkit with addons, downed survivor with leader, in a boon - that 5.56 charges per survivor, or 11.12 charges per second.

Beyond the math though it is worth noting that because the percentages are additive, it becomes harder and harder to notice. On their own, We'll Make It saves 8 seconds while Botany Knowledge saves 4, but if you have We'll Make It and then add Botany Knowledge, you save only an additional 1.6 seconds on the heal (from 8 to 6.4).

Thank you very much for the in-depth clarification! :D

And thank you everyone else too <3

Knowing bhvr and this team, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't respond and don't release this skin until much later when other slice of life new skins are made. It's jonah. They literally do not care for him. But if it was Feng, Sable, Mikaela or other popular survivors, you'll see it released very quickly.

I really hope that someone DOES respond, because I love Jonah, and I have bought all but the newest outfit for him (I'll get it as soon as I can). I love this "unavailable" outfit, it looks reallyyyy good, I would love to have it.

    Please, devs <3

  • !Solutions! to Tunneling and Gen Rushing: (yay!)

    • make Corrupt Intervention basekit - that way you're not likely to lose 2-3 gens before you can hook your first survivor
    • if a person has been hooked 2 times, and no other person has been hooked, then that person becomes invulnerable and loses collision with the killer until the killer hooks another survivor once. This only works in this specific scenario - that way 1 survivor doesn't get an awful bullying experience, and the killer doesn't get massive advantage of 3 v 1 at 4/5 gens left.

EZ solutionz. Now all BHVR needs to do is implement it. You're welcome, folks 😘

I don't even think we should be thanking them for reverting the changes when they never would have happened if they'd consulted with literally anyone who plays the game, like you said.

I know what you mean but, they could have just pushed the changes to live, with some number tweaks to try to alleviate the problems. If would have been a bad play, in my opinion. Them instead reverting the changes was probably a harder decision given the amount of resources spent on the PTB stuff, but a much better one. So, it could have been much worse, but thanks to BHVR's willingness to revert, it wasn't. :)

Demogorgons. I used to play him a bunch and feel like I got pretty good with him, so I kinda enjoy judging how others play demo. Most demo players neglect one aspect of his power, either his shred or his teleport. When I see a player that know how use all aspects of his power well it excites me cause it's like "oh nice! someone who realizes his full capabilities". I always make sure to let them know they played him well at the end of the match.

I used to love playing Demo, I used his portals a lot. I love what you wrote here, because it really does sound cool and challenging to play a Demo to its fullest potentials. I too usually just witness Demos who just focus on shredding or the portals. However, about a month or 2 ago, I watched a streamer face a Demogorgon who used both shredding and portal travelling really, really well and tactically. That Demo also almost never M1-ed. They were very good with their shreds. I felt huge respect for them. :)

I definitely want to give Demo another go. <3

I love facing The Xenomorph, especially when it’s in its bipedal form. It just takes me back to Alien isolation and I just love Xenomorph’s in general. It could be the weakest or strongest Killer in the game but I just love the aesthetic and vibe of it. I think they did a great job bringing it to the game outside of its power. I’ll give credits to the flame turrets and tunnel system though.

Seeing a Xeno's aura (usually Kindred) in its bipedal form is very cute, I have to agree. xD There's something adorable in the way it walks.
