haha Huntress' tantrums are the best XD

  • It's been almost 2 months since I've reported this, and it is still bugged.

  • Today I had a game where my teammate rescued me, and they had Babysitter. It still shows the old general perk icon.

It's been 1.5 months since I've reported this. Why isn't this fixed yet?

  • It's been 3 weeks , and this is still bugged.

  • @Peanits said:

First, I just want to make it absolutely clear that this is not intended to 'solve tunneling'. This change is solely to make the perk provide more consistent value when it activates, not bring an end to the entire tunneling playstyle. I wouldn't recommend approaching this with the idea that it will end tunneling entirely as that is not the purpose behind the change - you would be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Secondly, regarding disabling Killer powers: I see this getting suggested a lot, but this is not an option. It's one of those things that sounds really simple on paper, but once you start drilling down into it, it turns out to be a whole can of worms. Each Killer power works differently from one another, and there is no one-size-fits all solution that can apply to all of them. Each power would need to be considered on a case by case basis to determine what should happen when they're 'disabled'.

For example, even if you disable the Killer's power button to stop The Nurse from blinking, there are multiple Killers who may already have traps set up around the map - would these also need to be disabled, or are they okay since they were already there? Some Killers also have passive powers/mechanics, such as The Cenobite's Chain Hunt, which would also need to be considered. It would also limit the possibilities for future Killer powers since we would always need to worry, "But how would it work if it was disabled by this one specific perk?"

To be frank, this would be unsustainable. With over 30 Killers in the game and more on the way, having special conditions for each one would require far too much ongoing support just to make that condition feasible. To give an real example from the past, the original version of Tinkerer used to increase the effectiveness of all charge speed add-ons. Even with only a handful of Killers in the game at the time, it ended up being very confusing for players to keep track of which add-ons it could affect, a nightmare to balance because those add-ons could be too strong with the perk or too weak without it, and an unreasonable amount of work to upkeep as the game grew. In the same way, this would require quite a bit of additional work to be done for every Killer just to support one perk. It's one of the reasons that perks typically don't interact with powers, and the few that do are gradually moving away from that (e.g. Adrenaline waking up Survivors).

Don't get me wrong, it's a neat idea and the intention behind it is good, but it's way outside the scope for a single perk and could quickly turn into a confusing mess.

I think that just disabling the power buttons (M2 and CTRL by default) would be okay. Chain hunt is not the killer tunneling, it's just a natural thing happening. Already set traps are also not a problem, in my opinion. Just disabling the key bounds to the power would be good. I hope it's feasible. :)

  • I agree with the OP. I've actually suggested this multiple times. DS being at 3 seconds stun is worthless against killers like Nurse of Huntress. DS being at 5 seconds stun is too punishing for weaker killers (in case they were not trying to be toxic by tunneling). Neither of the options is good globally. 3 seconds stun + disabling killer's power for x seconds is a much healthier solution. Yes, it requires additional coding, but I feel like it would help the game a lot.

  • I definitely agree that BHVR seems to have been very caring about adding LGBTQIA+ representation into the fog. David's story is beautiful, it feels very real, genuine and relatable. I haven't read the Legion comics yet, but from what I've heard, it seems like Susie's character has also been shaped up with care. I too prefer the representation coming in slower, but with care and thought.

I am really hoping to see some trans and drag queen representation in the following years, too. Tubarao is a great addition, but an original trans character would be warm welcomed by many, due to creative freedom on the lore and cosmetics :) I know that to a lot of people this isn't important at all, but to many others, it means being offered a safe home, that feels warm and recognisable.

I (as a gay man) personally didn't *need* David to come out as gay, but I do appreciate it a lot. It feels really good having characters that I can relate to. For many others, David's coming out meant a whole world. Things like this can change people's lives for the better, sometimes significantly. I think that BHVR recognizes that and has been working on integrating that into the game as naturally and genuinely as possible.

I just hope that there will be no more instances where a LGBTQIA+ character gets ignored for a long time (like David got ignored for a whole year after coming out. No new cosmetics, no mentions or celebrations).

  • @TieBreaker said:

I don't think the tombstone add-ons are ever going to get changed. They can't make them weaker if there's an achievement for killing all four survivors with it in one match. Which is a shame, as they are essentially supercharged tunneling tools and make the AFC mechanic completely useless.

The killer body blocking survivors in the corner thing won't get changed as BHVR has said that it should just be reported, so they don't plan on doing anything about it. So if you can't capture footage then you are just kind of screwed.

They can always change the achievement. Multiple achievements (and their requirements) have been changed in the past couple of years (due to hatch/key changes, and due to Stranger Things "withdrawal" from the game). The tombstone addons simply need to be reworked into addons with new functions. But to be honest, Myers basekit needs to be adjusted, too. Without strong addons, he is quite weak, and with certain addons he is too strong.

Body blocking possibility (where a person is trapped and prevented from moving or doing anything) can and should be addressed. I gave 1 easy solution to it. Even if BHVR doesn't feel my solution is the best, there are still other solutions out there. It would relieve the report quantity, and make things easier and less frustrating for everyone, in the long term.

  • Thank you so much, Reinami 💛

  • Wow, that really sucks... I had no idea about this giveaway. The last few Alienware giveaways related to DBD were just some decorations you can use inside of alienware app or something. If i knew about this giveaway, I would have participated.

But @Alen_Starkly that is what Rookie Spirit does and even better.

I think what bHVR needs to do is take all these beginner friendly Generator helper perks and then use Deja vu as the minimum standard and then buff them accordingly-

    • Technician
    • Poised
    • Red Herring
    • Repressed Alliance
    • Visionary
    • Fast Track
    • Counterforce
    • Rookie Spirit
    • Corrective Action
    • Inner focus
    • Fog Wise
    • Friendly competition
    • Trouble shooter
    • Deadline

It feels like bHVR's plan is to make good perks for beginner players, but advanced players dont use them so they would not inspire beginners to use them either. I think instead of developing character perks for survivors as, one competitive, one wild card and one beginner. they should do one competitive, one wild card and one solid foundation perk.

Solid foundation perks for Survivors are, Deja Vu, BOND (god yes), Windows of Opportunity, very good at enabling play at all skill levels.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/407276/visionary-buff

that is another perk. the perk is called Rookie Spirit.

Rookie Spirit does something completely different, you guys. Rookie Spirit shows you any regressing gens aura, and only in white.

My suggestion for Visionary is that all the gens within a certain radius around you you see (current effect), but you see their progress by the intensity of redness on them (like Wraith's iri addon, or Legion's iri tape addon). If it's white, it's around 0%, if it's red, it's about to be done, if it's pink, based on the intensity of the pink you can estimate how progressed it is.

Quite different than what Rookie Spirit does.

With Rookie Spirit you can only tell that a gen is regressing, but you have no idea if it's at like 5% done, 60%, or like 90%. You could, if only 1 gen got damaged at once, and someone was actively working on that gen at the time, so you saw the progress on the HUD, but that's too many conditions.

You are complaining about the event that has the purpose of helping people unlock more cosmetics in pass because your feeling of progression or w/e satisfaction factor is not getting fulfilled for personal reasons.

This event will last for few days. If you don't like it, wait until it's over and come back later.

What I wrote is NOT about me, yo. It's about the whole community, BHVR as a company, as well as how much players engage with DBD. Please do not comment on posts if you do not care to thorougly read through the text. You are twisting what I'm trying to convey here, and I do not appreciate it.

  • @Wampirita said:

I think it's perfectly fine for people who play casually but still want the rewards. You get them earlier, some people will get it later, you don't lose on anything and got nothing to prove by complete it early

My sister plays DBD very sparsely and has always managed to complete the rifts naturally (since the first major buff to it a few years ago). If she can do it at her pace, then anyone who plays a decent amount can.

More points that come to mind:

    1) Maxing out the rift is a good incentive for people to play DBD more. It ultimately benefits BHVR and has a pontential to earn them more money

    2) If you really cannot max out the rift because you really play that rarely, then you can always buy the missing levels with auric cells. I buy missing levels in Fortnite and I am perfectly fine with that. I complete the battle pass, AND I support a game I love.

I feel like it's a fair trade: you give a company (e.g. BHVR) playtime and money, while in return they give you rift rewards etc. If BHVR is fine with their newest rift practices, then good for them. But I feel like they're mismanaging this and missing out on both playtime and earnings. And less playtime means people gravitating away from DBD for other games, they invite friends to play DBD less, they promote DBD less and engage with DBD content less (streams, twitter posts, merch, etc.)

  • @Green_Sliche said:

Please disable this event for OP only if possible. Thank you.

There is nothing constructive in your reply. I presented a thorough perspective in my post, gave a lot of info. My intention is to make the rift more engaging and fulfilling for people.

    How this is bad lmao?

Not all people are playing DbD all time. Not all people have that much time to finish rifts. QoL changes for rifts is one of the best things BHVR keep doing and you really complaining about it?

I really don't get it lol. How it is bad to get costumes faster than before. If you can't find challange in DbD, you can create challanges for yourself. Or you simply can play different games until next rift or event.

I wholeheartedly suggest that you read the original post on this topic that I wrote (aka scroll up). It seems like you didn't read through it thorougly. I explain my whole perspective there 😉

All of your questions in your reply are answered in it, you just need to fully read it.

  • For real 😥 There is so much good going on for him, if only people weren't so blind. Hopefully they open up to his awesomeness in the near future. 😎

  • As always, thank you so much for these! They are really helpful and will be used for the anniversary offerings ☺️♥️

  • I love:

    • Skull Merchant (lore, music, vibe, design, cosmetics, even the power idea (drones)) sure, she needs adjustments to make her fun to go against, but she's awesome imo
    • Jonah - one of the most handsome men in DBD imo, and the cutest. Awesome cosmetics, cool profession. Very misunderstood by many people who are blindly hungry for hating :')
    • All indoor maps. I genuinely LOVE them as both survivor and killer. Very cozy, and interesting loops that you can't find in regular outdoor maps.
    • Bloodwebbing - it feels sort of like doing a puzzle - which nodes can I claim, to make the entity consume large chunks of nodes at once, while I also get the things that I really want :)
    • The Swamp - just like the OP, I like this map on both roles. Cool dark atmosphere, uneven terrain. Very interesting main buildings (ship, pantry) imo, I also like that the totems and the hatch can spawn in the whackies places xD
  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

It's alright on its own, though the Hindered is definitely the main draw of the perk if you're using it by itself.

But the 50% Haste REALLY shines if you use Fixated with it since that gives you a combined 70% extra walking speed while shining a flashlight which is almost as fast as running (only about 4% slower than survivor running speed). Run flashlight addons that increase the length of the flashlight beam and you can flashlight killers without losing much distance at all, on top of slowing them down for a few seconds.

The other thing you can do with this combo, is gimmick builds like this one: Champion of Light + Fixated + Sprint Burst + Built to Last. With this, I would use the flashlight to cover distance at almost running speed while recovering exhaustion at the same time AND leaving no scratchmarks. And you can either do this in chase to get SB back mid-chase, outside of chase to cover large distances without wasting your SB, or to quickly cover a distance to hide from the killer without leaving scratchmarks (since technically you are walking and not running) while again preserving your SB. Since this uses up a lot of flashlight battery I threw on BTL as my last perk so I could refill the flashlight when needed and have it last for the entire match. The first match I tried this build, I finished the last generator with the killer on their way (who, unbeknownst to me at the time, had NOED and would've instadowned me) but I was able to slip away without being found since I could go at almost running speed without scratchmarks AND even if he had actually found me I then still would've had SB ready despite quickly getting far away from the generator. It was fun.

Wow, this is actually quite amazing! Thank you so much for taking time to write your opinion on this and even suggest ways to use it. I really appreciate it, and am looking forward to trying it out! I love fun, unusual builds 😀

Everyone else, thank you also for your feedback, I really appreciate it! ❤️

  • Bubba - when we take the camping and other memey/toxic things away, he is very fun to go against. Very fun, and there is a lot at stake while being chased by him. Many people seem to have dropped him with the introduction of the anti-facecamping mechanic. Hopefully we see an increase of Bubbas who focus on chasing, and/or scary undetectable builds. I love the thrill :3

Freddy - mostly because I *adore* the aesthetics and the feel of the Dream World. I go against Freddy so rarely now that whenever I do face him, I avoid waking up, because I want to relish the dream world state as much as possible. I'm sure people don't play him much because he is sort of weak, boring to play, and has mostly boring/useless addons. He has so much potential and I am really hoping that he gets some love soon (and keeps the dream world! <3)

Deathslinger - although this tome has brought many people to play as him for the time bring. He needs some love to make him feel a bit better to play (probably less crude ADS). Otherwise, very fun imo.

  • Could we please also get a shirt for SABLE when she gets released? I know it's like 2.5 weeks away, but I'm sure people would love to buy it, especially since it pairs so well with her goth aeshetics :D

I was grinding Archives and grades just for the event, and then we got told it got cancelled... it literally destroyed my mood and fun

Same here. I was so prepped for the Lunar event grind, and then....

  • Gabriel's Fire Moon Festival outfit got unlinked by accident with the Midchapter release. It was so cool! The clipping wasn't that big of a deal and would only happen when crouching, I think. It's such a big waste to have it linked. :(

Plus, many people will REFUSE to buy a cosmetic just because it's linked. (or has a backpack that cannot be toggled off)

  • This has happened to me too, today! I reassured a person, they got unhooked soon after, and then they got hooked again a bit later, and I could not reassure them again.

  • I feel like survivors last second switch because of Lightborn (and Franklin's). Especially Lightborn. Want to have a fun match with flashlights? God forbid the killer sees 1 of you has a flashlight, it's insta slap-on-lightborn and ruin the fun for survivors. You brought a flashlight for fun (instead of syringe, BNP), and you get no value from it for the entire match. It feels awful. That's why I too have to last-second switch every time I have a "blind the killer" challenge. It sucks.

  • @Nathan13 said:

It just seems really silly to me. I understand why it doesn't work with like Blastmine or something, but flashbangs are functionally identical to flashlights.

Champion of Light already doesn't work with saves, so no worries there, and the extra speed while aiming a beam can net you virually the same distance at a pallet as just dropping a flash bang and running can.

Plus, Alan as a character is familar with flashbangs and uses them in his own games, it would make sense for his perks to have synergy with them.

What do you mean, "it doesn't work with saves"? Where did you get that from? Is that just a restriction that is not officially stated anywhere?

  • Really good arguments, thanks guys! You definitely mentioned some things I did not consider.

  • @Emeal said:

Your post made me realize that I've advocated for a 90% Lightborn perk effect in the past. It's time for me to reconsider that stance. I believe there are two key questions at play here: 'Does gameplay function properly when perks like Lightborn and Distortion are in use (Yes/No)?' and 'Do these perks have other considerations?'

To the first question, I'd answer yes; while aura perks may be interrupted by Distortion, finding Survivors at generators remains feasible. Lightborn doesn't significantly alter gameplay either as there are many options other than flashlights for stopping the Killer taking your survivor team-mate. As for the second question, I think it's worth considering Lightborn as an accessibility feature for players less adept at dodging flashlight saves. I don't see Distortion user often, and I gather that being revealed might not be ideal.

The main point, however, is the help the game offers to beginners or those seeking assistance. I'm curious about the angles we're presenting to individuals who may need help mastering these aspects of the game with these suggested changes. That's what I'd like to understand better. I'm of the opinion that assuring beginners or anyone with hardships with this, that they'll improve over time without any game adjustments is a promise we can't necessarily guarantee. Instead, I'd prefer to offer a more immediate solution, encouraging them with, 'Don't worry about it; there's a perk for that. Use it and enjoy yourself now.'

Anyway I hope you find my thoughts on this topic valuable.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You made some very good points. I agree that Lightborn and Distortion can be helpful when someone is trying to get better at DBD. But also when someone's had rough matches and/or is tired, and just wants a few matches with a more chill experience :)

  • As always, thank you for this, cutie! ❤️

I highly, highly doubt that's the case. At the absolute least, the Anniversary event would have to be retained. They'd be stupid to cancel it for any reason.

My guess is that they have something they've allocated the manpower they would normally have on the Lunar event to something else, and that most of the events are still safe.

But even if it is a new game mode or something like that, it won't be enough to offset potentially getting rid of most of their regular events. I expect (hope) the Lunar New Year event will return next year.

Still, bypassing the Year of the Dragon feels like a real missed opportunity for some really cool stuff.

I see where you are coming from, but please think about this: the devs did not announce that there would be no Lunar event this year. They only briefly mentioned it after someone from chat asked about it. And they just said 1 sentence, and then brushed off the subject as quickly as possible.

There has been no official statement on the Lunar New Year event not taking place this year. They haven't made a single comment in this forum post. They haven't made a single comment on my post about this in the Feedback section of the forums. Doesn't that look like they are ignoring this completely and are just hoping we stop asking questions as soon as possible? The whole thing was done in the background and they don't seem to want to explain anything. Complete lack of transparency.

I wouldn't hold my horses on the Anniversary event and other events happening this year. Hopefully they still are, but based on the lack of transparency from the devs on the Lunar event removal, anything's possible, sadly.

(Unless they want to comment on this thread and clarify things!)

Good point, they should remove all gen regression, slowdown and blocking perks so killers no longer are forced into using them

Now I see that I have poorly expressed myself in that reply. I meant it sucks if killers need Grim Embrace specifically to block all gens and prevent gen rush. Gen regression perks are good in general, of course. But Grim Embrace seems like an emergency button. WIth basekit Corrupt Intervention, killers would have a perk slot for something else - info perk, random unexpected perk, blind or stun or haste perk. Variety, you know.

  • The Twins have been bugged for almost 2 months (even on the PTB). BHVR still hasn't fixed those bugs...

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3639014#Comment_3639014

12 seconds is a very very small amount of time. Keep in mind that chases are balanced around lasting 45 seconds, and after a killer has downed a survivor it will take them

    • 2.7 second wipe animation
    • 3 second pickup animation
    • ~8 seconds to walk to a hook
    • 1.5 second hook animation
    • For a total of 15.2 seconds

My point here isn't that it counters that or anything, its simply a time estimate. 12 seconds is LESS TIME than it takes for a killer, who has already downed a survivor, to pick the survivor up off the ground and hook them, which is a fundamental thing that happens nearly every single game and multiple times at that.

Grim embrace isn't meant to have a "counter" so to speak, it is a perk that actively encourages the killer to spread pressure and hook multiple different survivors instead of tunneling someone out. Therefore, if you hard tunnel someone out, you aren't getting value out the of the perk, and you may as well just have 3 perks. Thus the "counter" to grim embrace, is that in order to use it effectively, multiple survivors are going to get hooked and thus will have more time in the game of having 4 survivors in the match.

Would you rather the perk not exist at all and we just continue on with the meta of hard tunneling someone out of the game as fast as possible?

Do you honestly think killers won't be doing the following: bring Pain Res + GE, then tunnel someone out of the game, then use the remaining 3 stacks of Pain Res and GE to prevent the remaining 3 survivors from finishing the gens?

We all know what many killers have been doing despite Pain Res change that encourages you to hook 4 different survivors. In case you don't know, I'll let you know - hook the first survivor on the scourge hook, tunnel them out of the game, then use the remaining 3 Pain Res stacks in 3 v 1 to make their match miserable.

  • @Peanits said:

Hey folks. To shed some light on this (no pun intended), we needed to make this change to support the new modifiers feature and the first modifier, Lights Out. Modifiers are optional and run in addition to the regular mode rather than changing normal matches, so they need their own buttons to queue up as a Killer or Survivor. There sadly would not have been enough room on the main menu to squeeze two more buttons in, so this was a necessary change to support the feature.

That said, we have noted the feedback about requiring additional steps before you can play and will pass it on to the team.

There is a whole right side of the screen that you could perhaps use for the limited time modifiers?

  • I hate the new menu with passion. Having to click twice to see where the incentives are it's obnoxious. Before it was elegant and you could see and easily access everything. Now it's contracted and you have to reach really high with your cursor for anything.

Yes, objectively it's small effort, but through repeated action this become very tiring.

Yeah that's a bummer, I was hoping for some kickass killer cosmetics in the theme of Year of the Dragon. And to further expand the hoard of items on my mains :(.

Yeah, I was looking forward to some dragon themed cosmetics. Maybe dragon fireworks.

The more I think about this, the more it irritates me. It's not like the anniversary is getting skipped or something, but it's the little things that keep the game fresh (relatively).

If BHVR is looking to cut some of the smaller events, this isn't one I would want to see go. Especially if they are going to replace it with uninspired stuff like the summer bbq.

The thing is, what if they are removing ALL events we know of in 2024? Meaning, no anniversary event, Haunted by Daylight, or Bone Chill this year. Instead, we will be getting random hit-or-miss limited time modifiers?

I've been saving shards for the anniversary cake offerings, but what if there will NO anniversary offerings this year? They honestly could be removing all of the events for some reason.

  • I've seen it spawn in the middle of stairs on Hawkins, on a stream today. Couldn't be interacted with, as well.

  • @Vlarian said:

I agree on some of your points, as I think BHVR really dont know what they're doing at all, but I dont think base-kit corrupt intervention would be good idea. I think it would be lovely for m1 killers, but the root of the problem is theres a whole bunch of killers with powers that shorten chase, and a whole bunch of killers who don't, and those who don't are at the bottom of the food chain. I'm not a game developer, but I'm sure they can implement some sort of mechanic that acknowledges the desparity between ghostface and wesker, and helps change the game (IN SUBTLE WAYS) that helps both types of killers become closer in power.

I mean, stronger killers will get a down sooner, which means Corrupt Intervention would deactivate sooner as well. Basekit corrupt would aid stronger killers a little. Meanwhile, weaker killers (especially those that need time to set up traps) will take longer to down a survivor, so Corrupt would stay up longer. Basekit corrupt would aid weaker killers a lot. I feel like it balances out sufficiently. If not, then the devs could tweak it a bit, like you suggested.

Grim Embrace on the other hand benefits stronger killers a LOT, because they can down fast and keep gens for popping for so long, while on the other hand weaker killers will benefit from GE much less, because it takes them time to down and hook.

That's why I see basekit corrupt intervention as a really good balancing solution, while GE has made strong killers much stronger, and weaker killers only a little bit stronger. The imbalance between strong and week killers has become biger than ever.

  • @Rumble said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3638976#Comment_3638976

You need to remember, many killers cannot easily apply this so called pressure as you say, they did with old ruin but as usual nerfs. The only killers who realistically can apply pressure are mobile killers, most aren't that, also with basekit hud it's easier to stay on gens when somebody is in chase. Not to mention windows making it easy to chain loops, if you're not an anti loop killer you're screwed. Yes, you can leave loops but then it will be the same cycle. 1-2 gens on average pop and the cycle repeats itself. Now the k is forced to slug and tunnel somebody out.

Yeah, but this is not the way. Nurse and Blight will be obliterating survivors left and right now with Grim Embrace. They did not need any help. And survivors cannot play around GE.

Baseit Corrupt intervention would have been a much healthier solution. Instead, they introduced a solution that's gonna make solo Q miserable, and Blight and Nurse unbearable.

Also they should nerf Nurse and Blight (we'll see how blight feels now), and buff weaker M1 killers. And what did the devs do?? They butchered STBFL (used by weaker killers, and not Blight/Nurse). And you still cannot prevent 2-3 gens from popping during your first chase as a weak M1 killer, just by using GE. 'cause you need to hook to activate it. Rip weaker killers. But hey Nurse and Blight got buffed again (with GE).

Imo, so many wrong implementations with this patch, that hurt M1 killers and buff S-tier killers. And make solo Q miserable. And the Lunar event got removed. Rip fun, I guess.

  • These days I've been playing Legion, Skull Merchant, etc. and most of the matches I just go around the whole map and patrol. It's so exciting finding survivors, chaining hits as legion (including maps like Family Residence, I swear, I crossed the entire map multiple times as the Legion the other day, and had so much fun. It didn't even occur to me to sit on a 3-gen or around a hook).

I LOVE going around the map, patrolling gens, and finding survivors, and chasing them. Why are the devs now discouraging that? That's very sad.
