I don't know about you guys but i'm absolutely slaying with chucky. i'm completely destroying survivor group like i've never done before with any killer. he's super strong and fun to play. i feel bad for the survivors sometimes and give them the hatch. complete dominance. love it! He's a noob stomper too.

Every time I play against Chucky/Tiffany as Survivor, our entire group gets destroyed. Yet when I play as him, I can't even get a single sacrifice! This after 2,300 hours of gameplay and nearly half as Killer. He just seems too slow in chase, his Hidey-Ho power is too short and not completely undetectable, and Slice-and-Dice only scores a hit (not a knock-down like Oni). I can get at least one sacrifice with virtually every Killer in DBD except for Chucky. Maybe I'm not using the best perks/add-ons but he just seems like a straight forward M1 Killer with no ability or power. It sucks because I love the Killer (especially his voice lines!) and want to be at least mediocre with him but I just get completely owned with a few hits and maybe a hook or two. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I've been through my highs and lows with this game. I've been here since 2017, I've gone through my frustrations (there's been so, so many), I've gone through the euphoria, I've gone through times where I'll play nothing but this game and times where I don't touch it for 2 months.

I've never really felt like I do now.

I know what burnout feels like, because my god do I burnout a lot doing everything. But right now I just feel... empty. I have no strong feelings towards DBD at all. I look at it in my Steam library and can't bring myself to feel angry or excited or anything. Every single game of DBD feels the same, no matter who I play: killer or survivor; solo or SWF; wraith or pyramid head. The game feels so unbelievably stale- ironically, the balance and meta shakeups seem to have done nothing but ensure the meta lays in a more boring way when it's settled.

To give you an idea of what I mean, every game will go one of three ways: The NBW Core, The Training Montage, and The Three Gen

The NBW Core is exactly what it sounds like: it'll be a Nurse, a Blight, or a Wesker, bringing their most snoozefest add-ons and quad regression. Which is fine the first few times. When I've reached game 25 of the week on Survivor and haven't seen a fourth killer it's a little bit of a problem. But that's okay, we'll nerf Pig.

The Training Montage is a bit of a pun: it just means tunneling. You'll be tunneled at 5 gens, tunneled at 4, tunneled till death do us part. Camped as well, but they'll be hovering just outside the anti-camp range for maximum efficiency. Props to those that bring a map offering that's open as hell to really stop any incoming rescue attempts. Nothing says playing a video game like preventing people from playing the video game.

And The Three Gen. Find a 3 gen, do not lose the 3 gen, usually as a Snooze Merchant or Knight but honourable shout out to the Demo's and Xeno's I've seen who like to adopt this.

And then as killer, you either play fair and receive a barage of toxicity from people pent up from their last games and taking it out on whoever they can because nobody in their personal life likes them enough to put up with their insults, or you don't and receive a barage of toxicity from people pent up from their last games and taking it out on whoever they can because nobody in their personal life likes them enough to put up with their insults. You can stack quad regression on a stupidly strong killer and ROFLstomp Solo Q, or you can go for a slightly memeier build and try to have a fun time and in doing so envoke the ire of every deity known to history, all of whom have focused their eternal wrath upon you in this one moment in the form of the four Survivors you're about to face.

Maps feel the same. Adding new variations doesn't fix the fact that fundamentally they all feel like they play the same.

Chases feel the same. Reach a loop, use power/comp drop pallet, leave loop, W key, repeat.

Builds feel the same. At least before the first shakeup everything was so busted that you could whip out an unexpected perk and change the tide of the game, on either side. Could get a clutch PR/DMS/PGTW that saved the game or an out of nowhere UB saves from a slugfest. Now you still can but it's not as exciting because you don't really have a middle ground anymore.

DBD at the moment feels like the epitome of stomp or be stomped. There's no close games, there's no exciting nailbiting conclusions, there's no last second finales or critical moments that pull a game back from the brink of the end.

There's just nothing. There's no emotion, no joy, just pumping out bandaid fixes to fundamental problems that don't help that much in the long term but buy these limited time cosmetics!

It's grown almost too large and the team seemingly hasn't grown with it. There's almost an intrinsic disconnect between what needs to be done and what is being done, with some important features staying on the backburner as a low priority for literal years now while something trivial that nobody's asked for is rushed out underbaked and bugged as hell. There's a licence speedrun to get everything possible crammed into the game instead of fixing the fundamental issues at the heart of DBD, exposed as the padding covering them has been chipped away by poorly thought balance decisions and awful player attitudes. I can't bring myself to be excited for the new chapter or new Trickster changes. I can't bring myself to be excited for anything. The last brand new, large-scale game system to fix a genuine issue was the Endgame Collapse in patch 2.7.0. That was mid-May in 2019 and we're almost halfway through our fifth patch cycle since then (7.4.0).

I'm completely apathetic towards the current state of DBD, when I used to feel so incredibly passionate. I'd hyperfixate on every tiny aspect of this game and now I can't bring myself to feel a modicum of joy or anger or wrath or distate. I don't feel anything.

Does anyone else feel this way?

This is how I became with Diablo 4 . . . only one month after release. The same with WoW, Call of Duty MW2, Wreckfest, Age of Empires 4, etc. But Dead by Daylight has stood the test of time and I'm still playing the game after 2,200+ hours. DBD just offers the most variety and entertainment over any game on the market in my opinion. πŸ‘οΈ

Same. I won't even enter a match without my Scratched Mirror πŸ”Ž Myers or Amanda's Letter πŸ“œ Pig.

  • 1.) Legion πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ€

    2.) Wraith πŸ’€

    3.) Ghost πŸ‘€

I hate Legion's anti-loop, anti-hold w, anti-vault, anti-hide, and anti-heal powers. Wraith and Ghost make you play extremely cautious and slow.

  • I always let 2 Survivors escape after sacrificing 2. I play sweaty until I get the sacrifices but I never camp, proxy camp, or tunnel. If I see a Survivor going for a save, I let them go. In addition, end game hooks seem cheap to me so I typically back off at 1 gen remaining. My goal in every match is to earn a Pip while having fun. The "2 and 2" play style is great for earning a Pip while keeping your MMR down. However, there are still occasional matches against good groups where I'm unable to get two sacrifices.

  • Its sad that the Trapper decided to troll you in end game after using such a noob perk. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

The shoes with wings is the Haste status effect. Endurance is the other one.

Undetectable is exclusive to the killer, survivors can't get that status effect.

Thank you! That makes sense as I couldn't understand what undetectable would mean for Survivors, lol. Glad to know that its Haste and Endurance.

Thanks all for the prompt response - much appreciated. πŸ‘οΈ

  • @dbdthegame said:

    That's Endurance, not Undetectable.

Yes, you receive the Endurance perk as well (thats the shoe with wings icon) but if you release a haunt inside the Void, you also receive the Undetectable icon.

I highly doubt we'd ever get Naughty Bear as a Killer (it'd be hella dope though) so i'd at least settle for a Naughty Bear costume. No idea who it'd be for though. I just want Naughty Bear in the game somehow.

    Wish granted . . . only 4 years later.

  • Great ideas! I think the snow ❄️ could replace the blood / track marks with foot prints when Survivors run. And the fog 🌫️ can be extra heavy to reduce visibility - the Survivors wouldn't know which direction the Killer is approaching with the terror radius and the Killer wouldn't be able to see the Survivors from a distance. Weather would provide another random element to mix up the gameplay.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/394982/tunneling

Alright, so lets do some math here.

    • Match starts and the killer has Lethal and picks a survivor and decides to hard tunnel them immediately.
    • Survivors often spawn on the opposite end of the map as the killer and generally somewhat spread out to take at least 1-2 gens immediately with the 3rd taking a few seconds.
    • Average map size is 100x100 square meters, so in order to cross the other end of the map, assuming killer spawns around 16 meters into the map, and objectives spawn around 16 meters into the map, it will take the killer 14.8 seconds to reach the survivors.
    • Around 32 meters in the survivors should start hearing the terror radius and should be able to start reacting to them
    • Let's assume you have terrible reaction time, and don't start running away for about 3 seconds, meaning the killer is now 22.2 meters away from you.
    • Lets assume you are really bad at the game, and don't use any pallets or windows, but just shift +w away
    • The killer gains 0.6 meters of distance and needs to get within 3.61 meters to do a lunge at max range.
    • It takes the killer 30.9 seconds to hit you.
    • You get as peed boost, giving you a distance of 14.4 meters.
    • The killer takes 18 seconds to catch up and hit you again
    • The killer is in hit animation for 2.7 seconds
    • The killer picks you up for 3 second animation
    • The killer walks to a hook taking ~10 seconds
    • The killer hooks you taking 1.5 seconds for animation

Now, you have been hooked 1 time, and the total match time as been:

    14.8 + 30.9 + 18 + 2.7 + 3 + 10 + 1.5 = 80.9 seconds.

Even if the killer stood right on the hook, and you used AFC to unhook yourself, and let the killer hit you twice without moving, and then hooking you again. It would still take another:

    7 + 15 + 2.7 + 2.7 + 3 + 1.5 = 31.9 seconds per hook.

How exactly are you "getting tunneled out in 2 minutes with 5 gens remaining? What are you doing to go down so fast? What is your team doing such that after 2 minutes of the killer completely ignoring them they haven't completed at least 3 generators?

    Lol, smack down! πŸ‘ŠπŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ

  • What does the mechanic actually do? I've seen the meter on the bottom while on hook but I'm not sure what its supposed to do.

  • @Deathstroke said:

Is it in game now? I played couple games today didn't notice it. 2 on survivor and 1 killer game didn't camp though just chases. If it's on game I have to test it on bubba.

Exactly. Several matches now and I don't see a single change to the game. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

  • I just hooked 2 Survivors in the Basement for the "Buried Underground" Tome 15 challenge and neither registered. Its still showing 0 / 10.

  • Balanced Landing πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ - I have this perk on all my Survivors. I play the vertical game on all the maps (a few are very flat however) and I love the fact that there is no delay when falling from heights AND the sprint burst as soon as you touch the ground. The perk creates more distance from the Killer than vaulting through a window or over a pallet.

  • @BowlofTofu said:

So, the last few weeks I havent won a single game as Killer. None. 0 kills, 3 hooks a game is what Im averaging.

Usually by the time I get my first down, within the first two minutes of the game, two or three gens pop one after another.

Im not the best killer in the world, but it feels like no matter what Killer I am using, from Pinhead to Xenomorph, Trapper to Deathslinger. Anyone. I cant. Get. A. Kill.

Ive tried tunneling, but there's so many instances of Endurance now thay it feels pointless to me.

My General build is Deadlock, Jolt, Save the Best for Last, Scourge Hook Floods of rage.

I thought I had plenty of slowdown, but Gens just fly left and right with all this. I have no idea what Im doing wrong, cause I think im decent in chase and in looping. Ive gotten use to the floodlight that comes out of my face for some stupid ######### reason, and hide it before trying to hit but nothing. I get stunned, blinded, flash banged, etc etc etc constantly.

At this point it feels like playing Killer is just a fancy word for playinf Victim. I have no control or power its all in the Survivors hands now. They have can have 16 different perks to go against my 4 and most of them are just speed buffs to everything they do. And its just...demoralizing.

Its to the point when I pick Killer my first thought is, "guess its time to keep losing".

Then I play Survivor and I have a 75% escape average. Like, what? Im not even afraid of the killer, its more my team mates im scared of cause if they ######### up I lose.

At this point im ready to hang up the killer mantle for good and never look at them cause I dont like feeling like im loading into a game to be bullied and harrased by 4 people who are vastly more powerful then my supposedly supernatural killing machine.

I hear you! I noticed that I'm lucky to get a single sacrifice these days after 2 years and 2,000 hours of gameplay and using my best Killer. I'm running 3 gen slow-down perks yet Survivors are repairing in nano-seconds. I'm guessing the Survivor player base is just much better than when I first started playing DBD, as I doubt there are any noob players anymore.

  • The Shape πŸ”ͺ (Scratched Mirror πŸ”Ž Myers)

One of the most iconic killers of all time, I love the Scratched Mirror perk that allows you to hide around corners and walls. Its worth it for the jump scares alone!

It's cool getting Entity Hungers every other game when a game is 100% unwinnable. It's just silly.

I'm guessing you are a pretty good killer and thats why you were matched against this seemingly super squad. You were playing as a Pig (not a top tier Killer) against four P100 Survivors and yet still scored over 28K (even though all four escaped). I'd wager that you likely don't main as a Pig but your overall Killer matchmaking rating is probably much higher than P12.

What is something that at the start of a match that makes you just say well I'm screwed. For me no mither even if one player brings it I already know the match is going to be over in a second. No mither is a perk I just don't get the point of your basically permanently on one hit all for the sake of a whimpy iron will and infinite unbreakable which doesn't make sense since the killer will most likely accept the DS and just go after you again.

It is that one thing in a match that I know I'm done for and if it's an Oni yeah the match is over.

Please don't remove the best feature of this game. Without map offerings, we would all be subject to RNG and the horrible corn map Hell! 🌽

Midwich was actually my vote as well. I think that's actually my favorite map as survivor and killer even though most people hate it.

To me I feel like many maps layouts and tile settings are all nearly identical and just reskins. Midwich with its layers actually plays out differently and gives it more depth while actually feeling like a different map.

I also find it to be one of the more balanced maps as well. There isn't an abusable main building, loops feel like actually a fair 50/50, pallets don't feel excessive, the map isn't too big and you can't see each other a mile away so hold W isn't as encouraged.

Bonus for being a good map for quite a few of the weaker killers as well.

I love Midwich and RPD. πŸ‘οΈ Two best maps in my opinion and I always look for map offerings on them both as Survivor and Killer. I wish they had an Indoor Map Mode with 24/7 Midwich and RPD. That way I wouldn't have to waste thousands of Bloodpoints for the offerings.

I kind of feel disappointed that I went ahead and went through the blood web and unlocking as many tickets and ect for each survivor just to find out that you can't use them now. So, Pretty much I wasted more blood points than I gained LOL. I figured at least what you had accumulated would still be usable until you ran out even after the event. You should get something for them in return, they should have a recycle or something. I mean You couldn't progress through the web with out picking these up anyways on some branches. They should have just gave you a couple free tickets each day you logged in instead of using points to unlock them..

You can still use the Firecrackers and Festive Toolbox, just not the tickets. The tradeoff is that the tickets are the cheapest item in the Bloodweb and can be used next year, if you are still playing!

  • βœ… Favorite: The Shape, Demo

πŸ”ͺ The Shape: With Scratched Mirror and Lunge perks, Meyers is overpowered. The fact that you don't need to level up and can see Survivors within a 32-m range PLUS you are basekit Undetectable makes for a deadly combination. Its hilarious to hide around a corner in Midwich and watch Survivors running up the stairs towards you with no idea that a jump scare/hit is about to happen.

πŸ¦– Demo: Using the Lichen perk you can see every Survivor on the map when traveling through portals. Plus the ability to warp around the map within seconds and be able to sneak up on Survivors with Undetectable is awesome.

    🚷 Least: Cannibal, Wraith, Huntress

Cannibal is too loud and sticks out like a sore thumb as he rumbles around the map. Wraith and Huntress just seem too boring to me.

We have Halloween, Christmas and Chinese New Year close together but there is a huge time gap between these events and the Anniversary Event. While it's obvious why that is the case I would love to have more big events to fill up the gap. Blood HUnt and Double xp are simply not enough. It doesn't even needs to be as huge as the 4 big events since they obviously need time to create but atleast something. Maybe a special tome to get some skins or time limited side objectives that give more BP. Would be nice

Since the map shrunk in size a potential 3 gen is almost inevitable. So the goal as survivor on RPD should be to identify the 3-gen and tackle it ASAP.

I wish they wouldn't have re-worked RPD to reduce the size. I liked the way the map was before the change.

Map design is the worst part of dbd. God windows, hook deadzones, Strong loops connected to strong loops. Terrible maps are the reason killers camp and tunnel. Why would a killer go for 12 hooks on badham? They wouldn’t. Certain maps incentivize camping and tunneling. I know the DBD devs don’t care, but maps should seriously be reworked. If not, have fun dealing with survivors complaining about camping and tunneling forever. Im sure that will be fun :).

The exit gate locations need to be reworked as well on all maps. They are too close to each other and nearly impossible to escape from in end game without having Sole Survivor (50% gate opening speed boost).

We see Mori's get used and there's obviously some mori's that are outdated like Trapper or Wraith for example. Mobile has different mori's for them so why can't we purchase something more brutal for them.

Survivor's need some different emotes as the point and come here ones are kinda old now. Maybe add in some that tell others to get down killer is coming or maybe something like stop wait a second just to add some variety.

I agree, especially with the emotes. I also think voice emotes would be cool to add - whispers of course. Although I would probably spend too much time spamming the voices and annoying the other Survivors.
