I've been trying to get the 4 basement sacrifices challenge today and I was about to get it.. And then 2/4 of the survivors DC'd.
They did the usual "GG EZ" "TOO EZ" responses in the post-game chat. One of the other survivors was actually reasonable however, which I appreciated.
My point here is that these types of people ruin the game experience for killers/other survivors. I don't like using basement builds or being overly sweaty; i'm not a super competitive gamer and I like to just try my best and do obscure builds. But this level 4 challenge forces me and everyone else to play scummy basement builds. I had Iron Grasp, Agitation, Mad Grit, and Ruin on my Trapper, with the Iridescent Stone and Stitched Bag addons. It was on the Badham Preschool map, and the basement was in the school.
The game was going really good for me, since these idiot survivors kept stepping on every trap that I put inside the building or around it. They got ruin very early but it didn't matter.
I managed to have all 3 of them downed in the basement (killed one earlier in the game in the basement), and as I was going to pick them up, 2 decided they would like to DC.
The green name is the nice person, the black are the others. You get the gist.
Im personally tired of camping kilers. I usually DC too. It seems there's "Lots" of challenges that inspire camping because it's happening all the time anymore. Sorry, 1000 IQ play by BHVR adding challenges that make you tunnel and camp.
It wouldn't be such an issue if just 1 in 10 randoms I play with knew how to deal with it.
Typically kilers that camp though are just bad and know they can't win chases so they just camp / stay close to hook and it's very boring.

This game has never, and at this point fair to say, never will have even the most very basic of display options.
It does not support any type of disability such as color blindness or vertigo.
Hell, you can't even adjust the brightness to account for having a different monitor than the ones the devs used.
They would need to restructure the core game mechanic around not using FOV as a key component. Not happening
You can however, go into your video card's control panel, and select the scaling option which WILL add the black bars to the side, and won't require you to change the desktop rez before hand. oh wait. That won't work either because the game doesn't even let you select the resolution you want to play:
(although you may be able to enter the desired res in the .ini file -gameusersettings.ini and maybe it'll stick. Not sure tbh.
I think you're boned dude, sorry.

From what I've read so far, you refuse to take part in any thoughtful discussion around your points, and you'd rather defend your right to automatically have the power to say someones point is completely moot because.. you disagree with it?
That isn't how change happens, nor is it a great way to debate your own ideas. It just makes you look like an idiot with staff come into these discussions for feedback, and see the way you lash out at anyone for daring to disagree with your opinions.
There's been plenty of thoughtful discussion here and some points I just don't want to discuss. Offering up your unwanted thread summary analysis and opinion on my responses while replying with 0 relevance to the original discussion, is also not how change happens. It's how forum posts get derailed and locked.

You don't understand the line between fact and opinion. The difference between acknowledging there are issues with matchmaking in the game, and believing that those issues are justification to quit a team game. The first is fact. The second is opinion. And you are so arrogant, that if people say that they don't agree with the opinion part of your post, their discussions should be dismissed as not understanding the reality of the situation. Your opinions are not fact.
But you won't engage them. Despite doing so frequently. The only troll in your thread is you.
The fallacies you are engaged in are called 'Begging the Question' (Assuming you are correct as part of your argument) and Hasty Generalization (You frequently discuss only your experiences, rather than bringing up a wider range of evidence).
Everything I've mentioned regarding the bugs, matchmaking, ranking etc. is documented by the devs themselves in their release notes / known issues. How is that in any form, a generalization.
So I'll ask you another way and we can call this a day.
If you are stuck in the basement, unable to move, and have to sit there and wait out the game, you feel that's OK and the game is ready for a DC penalty even under those circumstances, am I right? Even if historically, it's happened EVERY release.
It's not arrogant to not want to get into a discussion with a person who has such drastic difference of opinion. It's not arrogant knowing that it would lead to an exchange, just like this one where 2 sides see so far apart, it's better to just agree to disagree.

"I do not care to engage in discussions with people who deny actual factual data." : but where are the "facts" ? I mean if you tell me that your fact are the info you give in the main post ... I am sorry but there is no fact, at least nothing that fit with the fact definition
Ok man, sheesh. Let's try this another way.
So you are saying matchmaking and ranking are OK? (even though the developers have said themselves, otherwise??)
So you are also saying DBD is in a state that it could be used for competitive e-sports? (Please answer with a link, to a major DBD release that did not have a 100 percent game-breaking bug mass-affecting it's players)
If you reply with YES to those 2 questions, then we just disagree too much to have a discussion. Nothing personal.
Facts my man. In just this last release, can you imagine how many people would be absolutely irate if they were banned for being stuck falling through the floor (the basement bug) as was mass-reported by hundreds of players. EVERY release has had one of these.

Ruin is never a problem with good survivors. How bad survivor's deal with Ruin is what makes it a powerful perk.
If everyone knew exactly how to deal with it, killers would never use it. (and I don't mean destroying the totem)

"Yes, that's my goal. To make people look like bad guys." : so what is the point to make suggestion / feedback if whatever someone is not agree with you, he is bad and he need to be flame ^^ ?
"You just compared DBD to CS:GO. You invalidated your own arguemnt in one sentace as it shows your lack of knowledge of video games and the development process." : Ah :). So the problem is just a problem of reading and understanding .... Ok i will make it differently as it is either a bit too complicate for you or my senteance weren't clear (if it is the case i appologize). So i didn't compare DBD to CSGO , i use CS go as an exemple of punnishement for dc in a game with a rank system. By that you can see that your whole argument , and your attack is pointless.
" . No need to continue and please don't confuse people making themselves out to sound ignorant and ill-informed, to me doing it for them." : confuse people ? I mean .... If i take ONLY one exemple : you are the one who don't want a punnishement for dc because the killer is suppose to have the uperhand as he can dc... Should i tell more or is that enough ;) ?
Feedback to the developer was my intention, as I've already stated.
I do not care to engage in discussions with people who deny actual factual data.

If a survivor DC's after the match starts, it continues for the other 3 people." : but if killer dc, the game is over and survivor win ... So no the control is not in killer hand. Also as explain before the killer will be punnish for this ...
"However even conceding the killer argument and what level of control they have, the other 2 points are more than valid enough, as I stated earlier." : which two argument you have bring before are valid ? I break down all your argument ...
"Not sure why I'm here at this point. My feedback was for BHVR. So sorry but i get the feeling you are just trying to attack to try to make me pass for the bad guy ...

If a killer dc, the match end and you escape with bp, the item you got and in the worst case a black pip. In two words : you win.
So yes killer don't have the final world as the result is the win of the other side if he dc. Also if you put the system to punnish, he will ALSO be punnish for that.
Care to explain me SERIOUSLY why dc punnishment shouldn't be in place with that argument ?
Does the match go on when the killer DC's. Nope, There, explained. That is the ultimate control of a match. If a survivor DC's after the match starts, it continues for the other 3 people.

Well then you should probably not make posts anymore if you can't handle people disagreeing with you.
You always do Gens, a killer wanting to farm does not mean you have to join in, a survivor wanting to farm does not mean you have to join in.
A survivor staring at the wall ruins the match, a killer staring at the wall ruins the match, both have equal control.
The DC penalty will come back, if you have issues that make you crash so many times that its an issue, then fix your stuff instead of attempting to play the game.
I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. I have no problem with people who think the world is flat either. Good for them.
I'm just not interested in discussing it.
"The DC penalty will come back, if you have issues that make you crash so many times that its an issue, then fix your stuff instead of attempting to play the game."
Yes, infinate loading screens, basement bugs, getting stuck in pallets, infinate mending legions, random computer restarts, the latest getting stuck crouching bug, getting matched with rank 20's constantly while in red ranks, getting stuck in tome farming matches, not having a wiggle bar, not being able to interact with objects as killer and survivor, not being able to pick up survivors and LITERALLY COUNTLESS other game breaking bugs, are all my fault and I should fix my #########.
Get outta here troll.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/114386/why-the-dc-penalty-should-not-be-implemented
"One player has absolute control over the match. The killer." : wrong , the time management is in survivor side not in killer side. The killer can just influence it at some point but it didn't have the control.
"They DC, the game is over for everyone." : and with the dc punnishment he will be punnish as you will get your reward : the bp you earn, the item you get and keep your pip in the worst case.
"They decide to farm, then that is the match you are in." : this sentence didn't make sense.
"they want to facecamp a single survivor, they will likely be able to." : small correction, facecamp didn't exist, we talk about camp. A killer can camp but there is perks to counter it and the gamecore to punnish him.
"If they wanna go afk staring at a wall - that's that." : so ? Were is the problem ? What is the link with dc ? I mean if he is afk , get your point and leave. You didn't even need to give him point.
"4 other players experience, dictacted by one." : no that is wrong for two reasons :
=> the experience you get , you acquired it through playtime. You can't erase who you are because of someone else.
=> It is YOU who choose how you want to play. The only thing that will change is how the game will run and how you will be able to adapt. You are not to do so ? Well bad for you, you didn't respect the basis of survival.
"Not Possible so why try to force it on people who are paying you for entertainment." : you paid to play a game with rules. By paid it and accept the contract with behavior, you engage yourself to respect them. If you can't , maybe you should change game.... For a solo player game for exemple ....
"So many people experience bugs each and every day." : bug ... Only part where i can say YES. Yes there is bug but if you manage to get bug nearly each game and so not be able to play at all ... Ask yourself some question .... I mean imagine play another ranked game and make the same thing (exemple : cs go) ....
"I don't know how you guys keep track of active issues, but there seems to be a disconnect in the company between the person that decided the game needed a DC penalty, and the person actually keeping track of the bugs/current state of the game." : could be, but to actually have made some test to "force some dc" ... I NEVER get any punnishement (lobby where handle with some people i know in order to avoid to totally gamethrow games).
So far, i am sorry but i see no valid reason to be agree :
=> Crash ? Ok but again if you play without crash again, you will not suffer from it.
=> KILLER BEING THE MAIN ROLE ? A good joke but not a valid argument as explain
=> Others survivors ? Could be but do that justify everything ? No.
Look I'll deal with your first line because honestly at this point this thread seems to be troll magnet.
Look, I'll play killer, you play survivor. I'm gonna DC 1 minute in. You're job is to prevent that. When you can explain to me how you'd do that, than I'll concede a killer doesnt have the final say on the match. As you said yourself, 1 person makes up an entire side. Thank you for helping me? I think?

I dont agree with this at all.
They DC the game is over, yes because one the 2 sides completely dropped, what else would happen. (The DC penalty also goes for them btw, so equal punishment.)
They decide to farm? ermm you dont have to join into that at all, to gens and leave. They want to facecamp a survivor, they will likely be able to...yes and get no points whatsoever and everyone does gens and leaves, how does that mean they have control?
If they wanna go afk stare at a .... ok lets reverse this:
If the survivors want to farm but the killer just kills them, fine, die on hook, moving on to the next game sooo survivors controlled that in the same way the killer controlls it in your scenario.
If the survivors choose not to run away and just die right away on the hook, well there ya go, guess they control the match now?
If the survivors choose to stare at the wall well there ya go, guess they controlled the match again...
DC penalty is a good thing, the only thing we do need is give the survivors some way to bleed out faster without it being unfair so as to not be stuck with a slugging killer just waiting for everyone to bleed out
You literally backed up all my points. I can't tell if you're trying to help me or not. You trolling bro?
Yes, when a killer DC's, the game ends for everyone.
If a killer decides to farm, then yes, like you said do gens and get out, because the killer has decided the game at that point.
"Claiming it should not be done because of bugs is just skewed beyond believe"
Yeah, we're definitely done here, This game is still in a beta state, by every definition of the word. Go read the tech support forums, or um, patch notes? rofl.

I wasn't trying to debunk anything. I don't argue with people who think the world is flat either. The detachment to reality they suffer, makes it pointless.

That is Begging the Question. You are assuming that the bugs and the lack of solid matchmaking are a strong enough evidence. I completely agree with both premises. I do not believe the lack of solid matchmaking is in any logical way related to DCs (Though, the DCs are causing it, as described below). And if you are experiencing bugs so frequently that you crash every game, don't play and screw over your team. I can't count how many times I have seen Exhaustion come up for Dead Hard, but then I still get hit and spasm on the ground like I am having a seizure. I didn't DC because the servers screwed me, I stopped running Dead Hard. I have a bug folder for this game more than 20 individual events long, and yet I never ragequit over them.
The disconnecting issue, however, is costing them player base fast. Games are taking minutes to get into at all ranks, and matchmaking is putting us against people from a random mix of ranks, just because there aren't enough players anymore, and people getting tired of the ragequitting is a huge reason why. Watch streamers, play killer. It is rarely someone who was just standing there, walking into a wall, or not moving. It is usually the person you beat fair and square disconnecting as you put them on your shoulder or get to a hook.
"That is Begging the Question. You are assuming that the bugs and the lack of solid matchmaking are a strong enough evidence."
I didnt read past that. There are 0 assumptions here. Matchmaking, and a long list of bugs are indisputable. Furthermore my own experience in seeing other players and infinite loading screens, extensive waits during matchmaking only to be against rank 20's as a rank 1, is incontrovertible proof.
-
@BastardKing said:
I disagree with the premise. The game is over for everyone if a survivor DCs too. Killers do not get emblems, so they will likely black pip at higher ranks, if that. They lose out on a lot of BP, and their add ons can't be carried to a new game. And they can't even choose to just go get a better game. The survivors are now stuck in what is likely a losing game, because an early DC is going to be a death sentence against a decent killer. They will likely depip or black pip, and lose their items, and get very few points. And they can't even choose to just go get a better game without depipping twice and losing all their points.
Without the penalty, the only one who gets to go enjoy a new game is the one who threw a tantrum. The ones they screwed over are stuck in a game that has had its value removed. If anything, it should be more severe, except dedicated servers do kick people randomly. I have seen both sides suddenly walking into walls.
Additionally, as someone who plays survivor and killer, survivors can do all the stuff you said killers do. Stand and face the wall? That is called make yourself die on first hook. Try to farm? You can try to farm as both sides, and if the other side disagrees, you just don't get to farm. Survivors can deny killers farm, killers can deny survivors farm. Face camp a single survivor? Hook rush, or gen rush.
I see no point in arguing which is worse, 1 survivor DC'n or a killer. While a huge portion of the game is taken away, chases can still occur, points can be had, the basic game functionality is still there. You sound like you have an issue with the ranks and how DC'd are handled which can be addressed by BHVR so they don't affect killers / survivors as much. It's just not debatable that a killer has the final say on a match.
Again, I think you're missing the point. The game is not in a state that is anywhere close to being able to ONLY punish people who rage DC. It's never been in that state.
But let's cast aside my first point on the killer. The last 2 points are facts and more than enough on their own merit, to prove the game is not anywhere near being ready to punish DC's.

Okay is it just me or are survivor main killers the best? Even if they like survivor more and but they play killer more often they always seem to be way less toxic. Like they’ll still tunnel and camp if a survivor is asking for it but otherwise they tend to play in a way that’s fun for everyone, plus they actually understand what it’s like when like half of the team DC’s with like 4 gens left and they end up just playing and chasing the survivors, helping everyone get points (without farming, mind you) and maybe let them go too. They’re also waaaay nicer about endgame chat and might even give the other survivors tips or something (more if the survivors are actually new). Idk, I at least play like this when I play killer (usually purple rank for killer, red rank for survivor) and I’ve seen a few others like this. It’s just way more fun with everyone being nontoxic OR both teams being really toxic, so it’s just generally a blast to play.
I find killer far easier to play when I've played survivor for 3-4 days straight. Playing killer exclusively or for extensive period of times is only for the most masochistic of people.

The main reason people DC is because this game has a lot of unfun aspects to it. Unfair maps, killer addons like iri head, etc. How come the devs don't focus on fixing these things first? I understand that maps can take awhile to fix, but iridescent head has still been here for years? Keys and moris too? I think if devs were to focus on making their game more fun then their would be a lot less DC's/killing self on hook. It also doesn't help that you are forced to play ranked mode, and there is no casual mode for players.
Because promoting is much more difficult than punishing. Promoting takes developmental talent, well thought out ideas, proper testing, proper implementation while punishing is not only easier, it caters to the mob with pitchforks which is how this community has been trained to react.
It's so obvious to anyone with just a little bit of corporate software or IT experience to see that internal politics and lackluster management are to blame. Too busy or distracted putting fires out to figure out ######### keeps causing them.
I'll wage a year of my former salary that after every single project meeting they have, there are a handful of people who walk out who have absolutey no idea what's expected of them.

I think I get you now. Your more of the IDC may as well add it while I'm more like IDC avoid it.
I see what you mean tho. I just personally think people need to grow up instead of having the Devs hold there hands.
yeah pretty much but nearly any half decent gaming monitor comes with a built in crosshair. It's just a fact of modern technology.
The immersive argument by the devs is such rubbish and again, points to an ego problem.
If I want to reduce the immersion and turn on crosshairs, why would they care? Other than now the game is designed COMPLETELY around NOT having them, it wasn't initially when they made that decision based on "immersive feelings" they had. So they can't use that argument.
It's like someone telling you a joke, then saying you have to laugh how they want you to laugh.
If they reduced hitboxes, added a crosshair and an option to toggle it off/on..... guess what? The game is gonna be filled with 2 types of people.
People who don't care about immersion and want to win with every advantage available to them.
People who want a serious challenge and that immersive feel, and will trade a "win" for a better experience.
Oh look, thats EXACTLY how it is now, just with a ton of BS looking shots that appear to hit thin air 99 percent of the time.Crosshairs are everywhere in your game. You can't detect 'em, you can't track them, there is literally 0 you can do to stop people from using them. Why do you guys pretend like they don't exist. Just like voice comms. Just like brightness controls on monitors..etc..etc...etc..
And for the record, I can't think of a better feeling than having normal or just slightly above normal sized hitboxes for huntress, with no crosshair.....and getting a 4k against a good team. I used to love the no crosshair mods for instigib matches in all of the Unreal games. It is a completely different experience in gaming, but you can't force it down people's throats.

I actually am cool. I play on both playstation and on PC. I just think it's a joke people actually cry for a cross hair on a game that does not need one.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/930338#Comment_930338
No I could care less actually just that its pathetic to really want one. This game is not a combat shooter or even one that needs something similar to a cross hair. Literally I rarely ever see these complaints except by newer people to Huntress. Funny they want one for her, but not Plague.
Those are options not a requirement. It's fine though because at the end of the day I highly doubt unless you do a 3rd party thing you'll ever see one. The Devs really want to keep the game as immersive as possible. At least for newer players and a hub overlay like that would definitely ruin it.
I'm pretty far from the ideal customer. I dont buy cosmetics enough to he considered a priority nor does everything they do make me happy I quite often complain.
you're missing the point. A crosshair offers a distinct advantage. Newer players definitely benefit, but so do the Rank 1 huntress mains. No one is arguing that.
The devs have designed the hitboxes, around NOT using crosshairs, when in reality, a significant number of players do. For the devs to think people wouldnt use every advantage available to them, was likely do to a big ego in the game director department. Yes, in a perfect world everyone is honest and noone would do something to get an unfair advantage. Unfortuantely this is NOT that world, no matter how much a dev or game director wants it to be.

More like just install the program or get a better monitor that has the option. DBD dont need to HD your hand. Neither is it a FPS game like CoD.
Welcome to 2019 where games like Dark Souls tell you to git gud n00b. We shouldn't have to hold your hand like a Mario game.
So your saying your fellow gamers should "get a better monitor" or "install a program" to do what is natively done in the game engine on which this game is based?
I couldn't care less about it being fair or not in this discussion. It's the fact that they left it out and programmed the game's hitboxes etc around NOT having one, when there was absolutely NOTHING they could do to stop people from just putting a little DOT on their monitor, turning it on on the monitor itself, or using another app.
You sir, are the ideal customer for a company like BHVR and why game developers get away with pretty much anything they want. So yeah, welcome to 2019 bud.

Also I play Huntress without it.

So you're telling me that if I'm having internet issues and I disconnect from seven games in the space of an evening (which has happened to me once before, because after the first two or three times it happened I tried several different solutions in between games until I found one that worked)... I could be banned from rejoining the queue for an entire week?
Something is very wrong here.
Sigh.
You guys ever get into an argument with others while your friends there to back you up, and then you have that one friend that tries to burn the other side with something clever, but ends up saying something so stupid and just ends up embarrassing themselves and you?
Fibjean, you are that friend right now.
Listen bud, if you don't have reliable internet, that's very unfortunate but you should be considerate of other players and not make them suffer your poor internet as well.

I'm going to take an educated guess here that the devs implemented the matchmaking ban at a certain time yesterday, but the DC tracker was actually including DC's that happened before the matchmaking ban went live.
Thus, if someone had DC'd or crashed in the day/hours before the ban system went live, they already had strikes against them, thus leading to their first ban being an escalated one.
I DC'd once for a legitimate reason AFTER the matchmaking DC ban went live, and my first timeout was 5 minutes.
So someone forgot to sync or reset the timers, or just f it it's too much work to do it correctly.
How close am I? @not_Queen @Mathieu_Cote

THE TOMES/RIFT HAVE RUINED THE GAME. INSTEAD OF THIS GAME BEING ABOUT PLAYING THE GAME, IT IS BASICALLY ALL REVOLVING AROUND COMPLETING CHALLENGES IN THE TOMES. IT'S KILLING THE GAME. INSTEAD OF FIXATING ON PLAYING THE GAME, I DAILY FIND MYSELF INSTEAD FIXATING ON HOW I AM GOING TO COMPLETE THE NEXT CHALLENGE. THIS RESULTS IN ME BEING A BAD PLAYER AND RUINING MATCHES FOR MY OTHER TEAM MATES AS I CHASE THEM AROUND ATTEMPTING TO HEAL THEM, OR TRY TO BLIND THE KILLER BECAUSE YOU ARE FORCING US TO DO THIS TWICE IN 1 TRIAL.
ENOUGH OF THESE FORCED DO THIS IN ONE TRIAL SHENANIGANS. IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO REMVE THESE IN ONE TRIAL NONSENSE CHALLENGES THAN I AM NOT INTERESTED IN PLAYING THE TOMES/RIFT ANYMORE.
IF HOWEVER, YOU WISH TO BE LIKE
"HEAL 10 HEALTH STATES"
"TRAP X SURVIVORS"
"UNHOOK X SURVIVORS"
THAN FINE. BUT ENOUGH OF THIS "IN ONE TRIAL" BS. IT'S RUINING THE GAME AND CAUSING MATCHES TO BE ABOIUT NOTHING BUT FINISHING THE TOME INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME. IT'S BAD FOR THE GAME, AND NEEDS TO GO.
I'VE BEEN STUCK ON THE SAME DUMB "HEAL 2 SURVIORS FULLY IN ONE TRIAL WITH BOTANY KNOWLEDGE" CHALLENGE FOR OVER A MONTH. NO ONE WANTS TO BE HEALED AND CHASING THEM DOWN JUST RESULTS IN LOSING THE MATCH.
GET RID OF THIS GARBAGE.
I did like 6 or 7 challenges to at least give it a chance and each time it felt like I should be earning a paycheck, just like the daily's and the end of a grind for all perks on chars. I don't care about the cosmetics, and the janitor or security guard or office secretaries husband they hired to do the voice acting, literally makes me want to reach in my computer with a white hot bobby pin, and slowly melt a hole in my onboard soundcard's processing chip.
That feeling of tediousness and overall burdensome game time is not at all what I'd call fun. If I wanted to mindlessly grind away at a game while screwing over other players, I'd go play WoW.

Amazing confidence in your programmers, that for the first time, the got it right and couldn't possibly have made a mistake in their programming.
Instantly accusing your customers of being dishonest or going absolute "that's not possible" mode is the last thing you should be doing with all things considered. Didn't even make a recommendation to use the bug reporting feature so the devs could look into it. Just "nope, that didnt happen, our game would never do that"
-
The bug penalty system is now live, and also bugged.
Oh the irony is off the scale on this one! You put in a system specifically desgined to punish people who get hit with one of your bugs, and you can't even do that right....

Solos shouldn’t be down a perk just to be closer to SWF.
Small changes across the board actually address issues whereas large changes create new imbalances.
That honestly is an entire other discussion and the solution to that is very simply to put voice comms in the game which BHVR have flatly refused to for some completely absurd reason im sure, so there isn't much to discuss.
Edit - Didn't see your last comment, hopefully you catch this one but....my only response to that this game simply went in a direction that it's base mechanics conflicted with, and somethings will need to be ripped to the bottom, or else they will never be truly resolved. The devs trying to base the game mechanics around variables they have absolutely 0 control over (voice comms for SWF's, brightness controls, crosshairs sounds etc etc etc) are to blame, imo. For example:
DEV: HAH, I released an offering that let's me change the brightness on the map
AVG. Gamer: Turns up gamma and brightness
DEV: BLAST! FOILED AGAIN! WHO THE HELL DO THESE PEOPLE ARE TOUCHING THEIR BRIGHTNESS CONTROLS YOUR ALL GOING TO HELL!
I'm embarrassed for them.........

“Killer can you go to the opposite end of the map and count to 10 please”
The killer is a killer and not your friend but someone trying to kill you under the entities rules... that’s something that’s fundamental to the game... all that’s needed to be done is that the survivor who got farmed was given the fair chance to get up... they’ll have 60 seconds (32-40 to be picked up) - that’s more than enough time... if the killer is able to come back and pick them up - put them back on... that’s hard luck... that’s the same amount of time as missing a stage on the hook which there is no blame to the killer but the other survivors not picking up the downed person.
Yeah I’ve played survivor since 2016... granted I was salty/mis-understood decisions killers made earlier on especially given how survivors were way more op back then... but then I learnt you can be good enough to play survivor without band-aids/crutches given how strong survivors already are... you can use stealth, pressure, and jukes to be resourceful enough to get the save you needed to. The only thing that can’t be countered is a face-camping bubba but that’s part of his power. If leatherface says no - do gens then you win. If they do that over 100 games... you won’t be doing that for 100 games like them... let them get bored of it.
And last time I saw a face-camping bubba was when people were getting the jake faces early on... doesn’t happen anymore unless someone wants a change in how a match gets played/curious how fast gens can go/testing how effective camping is without BT/DS.
Since the change to kindred I've been running it non stop for the last week or 2. I've never noticed just how proxy/campy killers really are.
From my experience in red ranks, a majority of all killers who don't have any real mobility, camp and proxy. I honestly think it's because they don't have confidence in locating another survivor and don't feel like looking / patrolling the gens.
So, now we have a start to locating the possible root of the problem. Killers have tracking problems locating other survivors, and instantly have an incentive to stay near the hook.
Instead of changing BT/DS, how about giving a better incentive than a minor adustment to bp's and the few perks which only trigger if you're far enough away (which is realistically still in proxy range), how about something like BBQ built in. How about it last longer and require a counter perk like distortion to hide aura's, not lockers. How about the min range of BBQ be lowered so the overly altruistic survivor's who stay close to farm can be the ones who take the heat, rather than the killer being called a proxy/camper etc. If all 3 survivors want to rush to the hook right away then camping and proxy is the only thing the killer can do and rightfully so.
Obviously there are ton's of issues on high mobility killers with the above changes to BBQ. Maybe killers need to be grouped by mobility, and have that being a deciding factor for built in BBQ..i dunno.
Constantly doing minor changes / nerfs / buffs to individual perks to address the problems with both abusing BT/DS/Camping/Proxy is not going to get to a solution for the base problem and that's having a reason to completely leave the area.
-
Maybe the size of the DS skillcheck box should be get smaller, according to how long it's been since the killer hooked you. At 45-60 seconds for example, you'd need to hit a "great" skillcheck.
Also, 3 DS's pe rmatch and after that the killer is immune or maybe knock 15 seconds off of the timer for other survivors when the killer is hit with it.
-
She is pro-gamer and therefore would be the first to die due to lack any type of real world coping skills, and is the only survivor for whom the "no voice comms" actually makes sense, because irl she would have 0 communication skills. 😁

"We prefer to analyze a character for some time after release, before buffing or nerfing them"
Or in layman's terms,
"Thank you for alpha testing our product and doing our jobs for us. In return, We appreciate customer's like you who don't desire to purchase a finished product: please accept our massively overpriced cosmetics and the fact there are key features that adversely affect all aspects of the game which we will continue to ignore, as a show of our appreciation".

All I meant was that stories/videos of what somebody did with some killer is irrelevant as it is not facts which comes clear with your "i am quite sure that" without seeing any stats or did you?
that's why I said "I" was quite sure and not it's a statistical fact - Considering he was nerfed quickly, the success the high hour killer main streamers had while playing him (which is a fact), and the other factors, I think it's a safe bet his success rate was higher than normal before the latest hotfix. A hotfix that took a week somehow to make a minor control change, all the while racking up the sales as one thing is for certain: not a single person was saying he was weak or not fun to play. Being able to basically sprint and one shot around nearly any structure in the game? I'll take 2 please haha.
But to be frank, my point is that BHVR released him at a higher tier without debate, and then as they have done in the past, waited longer than a week and reduced him drastically. That is also a fact.
The final fact, is they have a history of doing this, and it's a real dirty thing to do to customers. On accident or intentional it doesnt really matter. As a customer, I'm going to say they are either inept or just greedy bastards.
Imagine leasing a car only for it to get painted another color 3 weeks later by the company that owns the car. Well, yeah, it's their car and they can do with what they want but it's not what was agreed to. It would never stand up in court but since this is software, and the people that create the consumer protection groups have no idea how to protect a person, companies can get away with this crap. Just because you can't pick it up and put it in your hand? Kinda shows how little they value their own product at the same time imo.

The very, very simple fix/change for No Mither, which in essence will fix the Oni problem as well, is to simply start the trial healthy. After you enter the dying state for the first time, you are broken for the remainder of the match and will continue to leave blood as normal. You can only pick yourself up 2 times during a match, and it does not stack/work with unbreakable.
The killer won't know that you have No Mither and go looking for you right away, and you won't leave blood until you're downed the first time. The killer also may not even know you have no mither until the 3rd hook as you might have used deliverance....

So I do have a question regarding the video below. At roughly 55 seconds in, it looks like he's still doing a 180. There is uneven sensitivity throughout the attack, but you can clearly see where it starts and where the attack ends and it's maybe just slightly shy of 180, but easily exceeding 90 degrees. I'm just confused by this since it looks like you still have more control on pc if this is any metric to go by.
The difference is that you turn in place now once you start the lunge rather than being able to do the full rotation while still moving at sprint speeds, like this total BS of a hit: The vid below is basically just a killer, who once he gets his power, can sprint around anything and 1 shot you, like seen below. This level of killer control is fair against a rank 1 full SWF, but completely broken against most players.
https://clips.twitch.tv/PopularWrongDonutAllenHuhu**no idea why the clip won't play embedded but the link is (https://clips.twitch.tv/PopularWrongDonutAllenHuhu) just remove the ()
I'm sure the initial stats for Oni showed something like a 80-90 % kill rate / 4k. Scott only lost 1 match (no 4k = loss) since Oni's release so his percentage was ~ 99 percent kill rate with him.
Scott is dead right though, BHVR is outright pulling the wool over everyone's eyes.
The game already has enough b tier kilers, who would buy another one at this point? But an S tier killer who is also fun to play.....yeah, people will buy that up.
How can people be so naive to not see exactly what BHVR is doing - it's beyond me. BHVR will never, ever see another penny from me without some form of full admittance and apology, and then a pattern of new releases that show they have changed by no longer using a bait and switch tactic to cheat their customers.
Sorry if I offended you BHVR, it was "not intended".
-
Nevermind that missing something like that during internal testing, was the equivalent to building a house and overlooking that it was missing electrical outlets from every room before moving in, the incredibly insignificant change needed to correct this in the game code itself, disqualifies your response that they didn't have time.
-
@Janick said:
The flick is gone, it was never intended in the first place.
So you guys missed it completely in internal testing and for the entire time it was shown on the PTB, yet still released it.

You made nurse super unfun, and now you took the most fun part from oni away (his movement).
I'm speechless at this point. People couldn't even test him really, survivors just recently slowly started to find new counterplay and juke at corners and BHVR is changing him left and right instead of waiting a bit and let it settle down for at least one full season.
Did what again? Released an over-tuned killer/perk and when the sales slowed down, nerfed em? Is that what you meant?
Because yes, they did again. Many people, including me have posted numerous times that this is what they do.
People need to learn to not buy DLC's until at least a patch or 2 has been put out so they know exactly what they are actually getting with their money. Unfortunately there is very little consumer protection and software developers can weasel their way around anything because of a "EULA".
"oh look here on line 734, in paragraph 212 on page 923 it says we can change our software to not even resemble what you paid for if we see fit"
dirtbags gonna be dirtbags though.

I'd just change it so multiple challenges can be active at once, I think it's weird that we have to select them and only be allowed to complete one at a time.
What would you change or would you not change them at all?
The voice acting is terrible. Sounds like it was done in a high school media class.
The challenges make players act like complete spuds because they think they have to do every one in their very first match every single time. This has ruined countless good games.
The challenges are ill-inspired and the rewards are lackluster at best. Believe or not, some people just don't want to play barbie doll dress up with their video games and cosmetics are for 5 year olds.
While the art is top notch, the delivery of the art is a steaming pile of dog turds. The only good thing is they didn't ruin it with their terrible voice "acting" and I put that in quotes because I honestly don't think the person reading actually knew he was being recorded. I wonder if they just stuck a tape recorder under one of the lead devs beds while he sat and read the other developers bed time stories before tucking em in.
What an absolute insult to complain that you only have so much development time, and then you sink countless hours into literally, FLUFF like the archives, mean while, people are still falling through the floor of your game, you still lack basic core PC gaming features, and the last time you released a major or minor update that was "stable" was....never?
But you guys just keep telling em you're happy as long as you get cool new dress up clothes and they'll keep obliging with as many Barbie and Ken costumes as they dump on you.
-
@Peanits said:
Not yet. We'll be enabling them sometime after the hotfix is out on all platforms that'll be using the new system (Steam, Windows Store, Switch). We wouldn't want to start the test if people are still falling through the world, since they could be left with no option but to disconnect.
There has been "gamebreaking, legitimate reason to disconnect" bug in every major release and most of the minor ones.
Are you going to improve your hotfix response time, do more strenuous testing of major releases (IMO, best option) or suspend the DC penalty at every future release? The only other option I can see is that your customer service department get's wrecked with tickets.
Why have you never made public how you test releases internally? How many people are involved. How long is testing done for?
Development and testing are 2 different parts of a project for a reason. A game that has been out this long, should be SOOOO far past alpha level bugs like you guys put out, every, single, release.

Jitter and terrible hardware are the biggest issues. Higher latency on a solid PC+connection was not unplayable. Pings up to 150-200 are fine and most wouldnt complain on the small delay. It's consistent and predictable and many players can account for it after just a small amount of online gaming experience.
A lobby with the killers latency graph including 10-20 seconds of jitter/latency history would have changed everything.
When a player attempted to flood their connection to cause lag, aka lag switch, if the proper GM response was taken, it would have also changed everything.
People who can see a killer has a jittery/laggy connection, simply would leave the lobby.
Once enough complaints were lodged against a player, a simple action like being banned from playing killer for x amount of time, would combat the lag switchers.
If you look at the cost of the dedicated servers, + the programming and support, I'm nearly certain the above 2 actions would have been both more appeasing to the player base, and cheaper on the wallet.

@JoakimGrDay said:
This is even approved from a friend of mine, he says he use his bad internet card which makes him lag in-game as a killer. Therefor the killer won't be updated for the 4 survivors. So the mapping for the killer is just "fine" but when there are literally 4 other humans who has to suffer because the killer can't pay his stupid internet.
Don't hit me with your toxic killer views. It's an obvious thing. A better thing would be if the killer got corrected by the 4 survivors not the other way around. It's 1 killer, one human. And there are 4 survivors, 4 human beings who has to suffer for this 1 humans bullshit.
Dedicated servers do NOT fix latency issues related to a players connection. They compound it. Dedicated servers resolved players running the game as killer on a PC that is not powerful enough.
Their bad connections, are still bad and the latency is increased due to the killers connection now ALSO having to go through the dedicated server before it reaches the the other players.
The use of dedicated servers should have been used to supplement the players who were running on PC's below the specs, and still wanted to play killer. Players should have an option when they know their PC is crap.
Before dedicated, I knew when a killer was on a good PC and internet connection. Most games, were absolutely fine.
The need for dedicated servers for a 5 man game is laughable. It was a much better experience playing when connected directly to a killer with a good PC/internet.
Dedicated servers will never fix a killer with a ######### connection. Only if their hardware is inadequate. This is PC multiplayer gaming 101.
