Now that Distortion being nerfed to be only relevant in blocking aura inside chases, Should Sole survivor be buffed to make survivor immune to aura reading when not in the chase?

    Sole survivor buff:

Gain a 60/66/72 meter within which you are immune to the Killer's Aura-reading abilities when not in chase.

When you are the Last Survivor Standing, you benefit from the following effects:

    • Increases your Repair speed by +75 %.
    • Increases your Gate and Hatch Opening speeds by +50 %.

Increases your chance of becoming the initial Obsession by increasing the default value by +100 %.

The Killer can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

The idea is to remove the scaling for which your teammate have to die to gain benefit from the perk and put drawback where the aura reading is only blocked when outside of a chase.

    No.

First game and i already want to stop playing killer again, please behaviour fix swf so it isnt as miserable to play againts

They aren't that common, best thing you can do is just take a deep breath and move on. Also, during the game, don't let them get to you. Just get whatever you can out of the match, then move on to another match.

maybe I will get Ban for posting this but I don't know how to report this.

You literally griefed your teammate by going AFK. Killer picked you up, you didn't struggle free, so he could just go around to find the last guy. If anything, you should be reported for this clip.

    Incomparable.

Basekit Borrowed Time was to prevent camping and tunneling.

"No Way Out" is for people like you, who have a hard time seeing the difference between needing more skill, and thinking there's something that needs to be fixed (spoiler: git gud).

The clip you necro'd this thread with:

Your argument is basically base kit x isn't necessary since you can run x perk. This is fully comparable to the Borrowed Time example.

Basekit Borrowed Time was to prevent camping and tunneling.

What does the Borrowed Time perk do? Let me link it for you. It does the same thing as base kit Borrowed Time but better.

"No Way Out" is for people like you, who have a hard time seeing the difference between needing more skill, and thinking there's something that needs to be fixed (spoiler: git gud).

Literally have the guy get stuck on terrain twice, then pretend like he didn't have a chance, plus what @cclain said, there's perks to help open the gate faster.

More skill isn't going to make you walk to the gate faster. This is already a near optimal example with only 2 seconds of time waste. Under normal circumstances, the killer isn't going to walk in a straight line to the correct gate. They're going to check the closer gate and look around for the survivor. Also,

if he was playing a standard m1 killer, he would have to hit the survivor. This gives them extra time (2.7 sec) to open the gate + escape with injured speed boost. Also, I already said that this isn't a large map. On larger maps, he wouldn't have even been close.

You wanting them to be compable, still doesn't make it comparable. Sorry to break it to you.

Basekit to prevent tunneling & camping =/= Basekit to reduce the risk of Victims escaping.

The first is to fix how Killers play in a way not intended by the devs (tunneling & camping), the other isn't against the intention of the game, i.e. Victims escaping.

    Just. Run. "No Way Out".

jesus lord allmighty . Can you guys the developers of Dead By Daylight please take a look and potentially remove map offerings ?
as a high MMR killer the only correct plays i have are to bring my own map to potentially win a 50/50 vs their maps or bring a sac ward . Can i just go back to being able to bring bps / cakes as offerings and still enjoy this game . I can't tell if it is the increased bps all around or a more conpetitive mentality but map offerings are present in 90%+ of my matches . They cause dcs on both sides and just unfun scenarios . I can send myself to certain maps with a killer and built to have the easiest more free win of my life . I don't do that because it is boring but there is nothing stopping someone from doing so. I got over 7400 hours in dbd but the " map offering " plague that is current dbd is trully making me despise this game . I can send myself to hawkins as skull merchant or have quad balanced landing on toba landing / erye as survivor . 99% of those bad matches that stick with you for being terrible have a map offering involved . Anyone that defends it at this point is doing the same as me and using them every match . I gave up bringing bps and im sorry for anyone who actually doesn't bring them for that 1/10 match in whoch nobody burns a map ( i will be nice those games ). Anyhow i could go on for this about how outdated and bad map offerings are . The ammount of dcs on the loading screen on both sides is insane and i don't boame the players for doing it either . The dcs on loading screen for certain maps must be 80%+ but i'm not sure if they can see that data . Anyhow this could be a regional deal but i believe high mmr period will have map offerings this often since they can sway so much in your favor . I hope more people feel encouraged to spam this feedback until it reaches their ears .

    I don't like map offerings

Bring sacrificial wards or your own map offerings.

With a supposed 7400 hours on record, you don't really need BP offerings anymore, let's be honest. What could you possibly need BP for so badly, that you absolutely have to burn an offering? Alternatively, try to relax and have fun. Burn BP offering, put on a meme perk build, and just kid around. Oh wait:

    As a high MMR Killer

One of these mysterious high MMR Killers, that somehow know their MMR. I'd like to know my MMR, how can you tell what yours is?

1/10 match in which nobody burns a map offering

Very typical for a salt post, overexaggerate the problem to convince people to "spam this feedback".

Let's remove Borrowed Time base kit since you can just run Borrowed Time. Same logic for why it's a bad argument. People shouldn't be forced to run a perk to counter something uncounterable base kit.

    Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and hope we can have a good time.

My question is directed against the hostage situations of games and the server shutdown after 1 hour.
Why isn´t it possible to leave the match after an certrain amount of time maybe 15 minutes.

To be honest games which are over 10 minutes are kinda rare and if all players have fun the game can go on but after 15 minutes players should be free to leave so they can´t be hold hostage.

    Sorry for my horrible english…

    No.

  • @adsads123123123123 said:

Not blocking the exit gates leads to the same situation as hatch stand off. It varies depending on the map but if the hatch spawns far away from the exit gates, which is guaranteed to occur on certain maps, e.g. The Game, Lery's, and Badham, the survivor can wait at the gate to start openning it the moment hatch is closed, which allows them to open the gate before the killer can reach it. Steps:

    1. Survivor waits at gate for killer to close hatch
    2. Killer closes hatch
    3. Survivor immediately starts openning gate
    4. Killer walks straight to gate
    5. Gate is already openned by the time killer arrives

The killer cannot make it to the gate even if it they walk directly to it (with 4.6 m/s). The only counter play is to wait on the hatch without closing it until the survivor gives up. This is a hatch stand off. Example:

    https://www.twitch.tv/seth_kills/clip/RoundSleepyPterodactylBabyRage-XqTPKnL3dyuTbl3Y

He got blocked for 2 sec but it didn't matter.

The gate should be blocked for 15 seconds the moment hatch is closed. It won't be like No Way Out where it is only blocked when the survivors touch the gate. This change will only impact people abusing this strategy. There will be virtually no impact to survivors looking for hatch as normal since survivors typically attempt to open the gate in last 20%-30% of the end game timer and running to the gate takes more than 15 seconds most of the time, so the gate will already be unblocked by the time they reach it.

Literally just use "No Way Out"

  • @coldflame said:

as the title says. while a perk is in the shrine of secrets, you should get the effect owning it until it leaves the shrine. If you buy it, you instead use it at level two until shrine resets or you upgrade, etc.

It's a good way to allow newer players to trial run perks, especially if you don't have someone to suggest what's good to you and what's not, and it would open up room for soft counterplay as you at least have a 'more likely' selection to try and guess what will or won't be brought into the match, as well as lightly changing the perks you do see from week to week.

This should probably be in the Feedback & Suggestions section of the forum (https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/categories/suggestions).

That said, I agree with this as a concept. It makes sense for people to be able to try out perks, before investing shards into them, without having to look on the Internet to learn about how it works.

This could be fixed by allowing players to try Killers and Victims in a bot-match to see how their perks and abilities work before committing to a purchase.

  • @Idles said:

I can understand it in theory, but it's implementation is horrible. Sure, it's to stop the rage-quitters, or punish them, which I agree with, but it also punishes people who don't want to deal with obvious hackers, the very toxic side of the community that lives to ruin other people's experiences, or natural issues like having your internet cut out for whatever reason.

My first game of the night ended because my internet turned itself off and I had to unplug the adapter thing and plug it back in for it to reconnect. Now I have to wait 6 hours to play again, because apparently BHVR didn't design it to recognize a natural issue like internet problems is not the same as someone clicking on 'leave game'. On top of that, the timer never resets properly. Because it's been about a week, and three times I've had it instantly put me at 6 hours for DCing. One time was from dealing with a toxic team and I just wanted to stop playing the game. One time was to test it if it even reset. And then tonight- each of which was more than 24 hours in between each other.

i genuinely think the whole time-out is such a bad design/decision, and should either be removed, re-implemented better with actual A.I., or have the time-out be ten minutes at most. Because let's face it, the genuine rage-quitters oftentimes don't want to play anyways if they get to that point, so doing this to everyone else who may not be quitting for that reason is not exactly a good thing.

Soorey for this being more or less just a rant, but it feels like a kick to the dick for someone who's spent money on cells, killers, and who bought the game.

It also punishes people who don't want to deal with obvious hackers

Obvious hackers is subjective, and even if they are obvious, these are extremely rare. I have only ever seen one case that MIGHT be an obvious hacker, and even then I wasn't sure.

In contrast, as a Killer, I've been called a hacker, when it can easily be explained with game mechanics.

The very toxic side of the community that lives to ruin other people's experience

If you're talking about Victims working with the Killer, then you report those Victims, but don't quit and expect no penalty.

Natural issues, like having your Internet cut out

That cannot be worked around, because if it was, people could literally just turn off their Internet manually and claim "my Internet cut out", to avoid penalty.

    6 hour penalty

You don't start at 6 hours, so you've disconnected multiple times in the last few days.

You complain about toxicity, yet you clearly disconnect frequently. That in itself is toxic. Toxicity isn't solved with more toxicity, and that's even taking your word for the game actually being "toxic" and not just because they didn't play how you wanted them to play.

One time was to test if it even reset

You left a game, just to test if it had reset. Bro. Can you imagine being any of the other players in that match?

Have the time-out be 10 minutes at most

Nope. Clearly longer timers are necessary with people like you.

Somehow who's spent money on this game

Everybody have spent money on this game, that doesn't give you any special rights.

You make some good points, I was trying to think of some new concepts that can sort of revolve around the world itself when thinking of the powers, like being able to create and repair hooks as OFC The Entity is who creates them.

As for the killer think of it more as not exactly The Entity itself but more something it created in its own image to do its bidding, unlike the other killers who just do what they are told given that they are trapped in the same twisted realm this killer is a creation made by The Entity to torture the survivors in its own ways and can be directly controlled by it and so can actually accomplish things some killers aren't able to.

Small bit of lore surrounding it I thought of is like "The Entity having tried and tested numerous indviduals lured into this world by the fog had become increasingly displeased by the performance of some so has now brought forth a being made from a manifestation of its own anger and need for sacrifices. The Manifest is the Entity unleashing its wrath on the elusive survivors that continue to outwit these merciless slashers that it expected more from." So basically the killer in question is a creation made by the Entity that using only a small portion of its power, intended to make survivors stay more on their toes and still give them some chance.

"The Entity having tried and tested numerous indviduals lured into this world by the fog had become increasingly displeased by the performance of some so has now brought forth a being made from a manifestation of its own anger and need for sacrifices. The Manifest is the Entity unleashing its wrath on the elusive survivors that continue to outwit these merciless slashers that it expected more from."

    I kinda like that idea.

There are also examples of Killers being resistant to the commands of the Entity, like Trapper. If one or two more Killers get some lore surrounding not quite following orders, I could see it paving the lore-path for 'The Manifest'.

By all means, don't let my previous points stop you from thinking more on the concept, it seems there could be something to it.

"They introduced a K-Pop Killer (Trickster)"

"They added Nicholas Cage as a Survivor. Yes, the actor."

I was playing Chucky and using lethal and rat poison… and it was rediculously easy. And they want to nerf distortion?? I mean I hate distortion but I don’t really see another way to counter a killer being able to seeing through walls and follow every move you make. I feel like all the aura perks need a rework.

    Rat Poison

12 yard radius limit + 5 second duration (+2 seconds with Lethal Persuer) requires an addon and a perk. It is a strategy, just as much as stacking gen block/regression perks would be.

The Distortion nerf is minor, it's just making it more fair. Instead of countering auras constantly, it requires Victims to actually engage in chases, as opposed to how it was often used (in my experience) to just hide with.

My post was for both topics, both the game and the rift, but answering your question, the game let's say that compared to how I played it some time ago it seems to have improved a lot in terms of the variety of Killers I find in front of me and the number of games I win or lose... and of course since my friend and I play in 2 sometimes we find random incapables or imbeciles who die in two seconds, this can be annoying at times... I understand that many will be new players... however do not tell me how and why, sometimes the Killer does a sort of "favoritism" on some survivors... letting them escape or farming them for the rest of the test... this can sometimes be fun or frustrating depending on the situation, overall I find the game slightly improved (with its bugs) but "slightly" improved.

    Variety of Killers

Yeah, many new Killers came out in the last 3 years, some better than others (subjectively).

    Favoritism

That's something that will happen. I experience it, too, I have no idea what it's about. Who knows.

    Bugs

Bugs still happen with varying regularity. I experience funny bugs (like Victims T-posing at random times), and on a less frequent occurances gamebreaking bugs (like huge patches of the map missing texture and objects, making Victims, but not Killers, able to run outside the map), but seems to happen mostly after major content updates or patches.

  • @Jarred2504 said:

Would be a rather unique killer in design and lore as for once the killer would not be a person or being from some other world drawn into the Entity's nightmarish realm but actually a killer made by the Entity itself, sort of a full physical form.

Variety of designs to go by but there be some cool artwork people have made before

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/MXGPZFPIFU2U/image.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7XRPWW58R9NA/image.png

Could perhaps have shapeshifting abilities like The Dark Lord and like turn into a spider or scorpion form given the Entity reveals itself with arachnid type legs.

The killer's main ability is it can repair sabotaged hooks and spawn up to 4 cages (like the ones in 2v8) around the map which serve as extra hooks and are like scourge hooks. Additional ability is when a survivor is unhooked from either a regular hook or the cages, the killer can then teleport to that hook/cage within the next 8 seconds.

I like the idea, and the concept art, too, but I can't help but feel like it wouldn't make sense lorewise, unfortunately.

I could be wrong, but I've gotten the feeling from the lore, that the Entity could be capable of this, but doesn't want to. The Entity's goals and machinations are beyond our comprehension, but one thing I seem to understand is that the Entity gets some kind of thrill out of watching his little kidnapped puppets play out their roles on the stage it created (the Fog), but not be part of it itself.

As for the Main Ability, it seems a bit too weak, compared to the power level it should have. It's the Entity in its own world, it could kill anybody it wanted instantly. Spawning hooks sounds lackluster. Plus half the ability is useless, if Victims aren't bringing sabo perks or toolboxes.

Shapeshifting doesn't sound intriguing, either, especially so close to the aforementioned Dark Lord's ability to shapeshift.

I would love to see the hypothetical character concept closer to a spider, than what's present in the current images. A scorpion and spider mix makes sense, but a figure I'd feel more like: "That looks like a spider or scorpion, but that's probably only because my mind tries to ascribe something familiar to this horrid abomination I am witnessing."

I don't want to play on pc yet because cheaters run rampant there when are the devs going to deal with them I don't experience many but it's not fair for the pc players.

It's happening right now. Some hackers get banned. Holes get patched. New or old hackers buy new accounts and find new holes to exploit. Just gotta deal with it being a thing. It isn't exclusive to DBD, either, hackers exist in any game; nothing digital is beyond hacking, that's the simple truth.

  • I find myself agreeing with this idea.

The fact that it's only a 4% chance to unhook to begin with, it's so extremely rare to see anybody manage it without the mentioned perks. So; sure, might as well get rid of it to stop the self-unhook suiciding that seems so rampant lately.

  • I got 30 rift fragments. :| That's worth 3 rift levels. I'm already like 150, so each level only gives like 5000 BP.

    Hand Eye Coordination

You must play Survivor and hope that by chance your Killer just so happens to be a Vecna, this could take hours or literal days and weeks depending on your luck and is the first massive issue with this achievement.

After this, you have to hope that you roll a 20. This could never happen, thus wasting all that time queuing, or your teammates could roll 20s, locking you out of the Hand or Eye of Vecna.

Finally, once you manage to roll a 20 and get the Hand or Eye of Vecna, you have to pray that the Vecna is worse than your teammates, or that your teammates are just overall better than the Vecna.

The amount of RNG and luck needed for this achievement is beyond stupid…

To make matters worse, there is the Rightful Owner achievement, which requires the Vecna to 4K whenever someone rolls the Hand or Eye of Vecna and "retrieve the artifact", meaning that if you even manage to get the Hand/Eye of Vecna, you are likely to be tunneled out so they can "retrieve the artifact".

    Hemophobia

This achievements requires you to be playing on Crotus Penn Asylum (one of two maps on the realm, meaning that Map Offerings do not have a consistent way of getting this map) and you must escape without being injured.

To put it bluntly, the only way to get this achievement is either by sheer luck, having an awful Killer, or the Killer is AFK for a massive duration of the match.

    Outbreak Breakout

Other achievements for a map are often "repair the main building Generator and escape"… how about "play on this particular map that a lot of people hate, open the Exit Gates and escape TWENTY TIMES."

Both Exit Gates are opened by another play and you escape? Too bad, that wont progress the challenge since you need to be the player to open the Exit Gate(s). And the fact you have to do this 20 times to get the achievement.

    Left For Dead

You must, as the final Survivor alive, repair a Generator and escape through the Exit Gates… Sounds simple right?

Repairing the final Generator is not only a waste of time since Hatch spawns in, but Hatch being closed before you finish the final Generator locks you out of this achievement.

So you have to pray that your team sucks just enough to die at 1 Generator remaining while also being good enough for that 1 Generator to have a decent amount of progress, you have to pray that the Killer does not find Hatch, and then you have to pray that the Killer does not find you or lets you go as the final Survivor.

This achievement USE to be easier to get back in the day but direct and indirect changes to how this achievement functions has made it a living nightmare to get.

    Hand Eye Coordination

Agreed, the conditions are very tight. I haven't even started to hope to get it, it just seems too unfeasible.

    Hemophobia

I actively tried to get this. I got Chapel 4 times in a row. When I finally got Asylum, I was absolutely ridiculously lucky, with the fact the Killer was almost always away from me, seemingly doing very poorly. My teammates managed to unhook each other, while I just focused gens, and just skipped right out that gate the moment I had it open. First try, but definitely pure lucky.

    Outbreak Breakout

4/20 so far, despite trying my best to not get caught. I also didn't realize at first, that I personally had to open the Exit Gate for it to count, but I sure as ######### learned it the hard way.

    Left For Dead

I somehow managed to get this achievement, before I paid any attention to them. I don't know. I must've just been really sweaty try-harding.

    @ohheyitsbobcat said:

I'm not sure if this still works with Left For Dead but it doesn't need to be the final gen but just a gen after everyone is dead. This might have been a bug and has since fixed but I remember seeing people mention this was how they got it. Last alive, pop any gen, killer closes hatch, escape through door. It didn't have to be the final gen, any would work as long as you finished it after everyone was dead. Here's hoping it still works that way.

I also have a couple challenges to add that I didn't think were great. You got most of the annoying ones though, I agree 100%

    Skilled Huntress on Console (Old)

This used to require 100 downs from 24 meters which was an insane ask. I believe it has been since been lowered to 20 but that was fairly recent; maybe this year. I got this when it was still 100 and it was a pain, even trying to farm it didn't make it any better. It's still in the top 5 rarest trophies I have.

    Taking One for the Team

Requires you to take 250 protection hits from recently unhooked teammates. It's not difficult but can easily be one of the most grindy things in the game.

Edit: Honorable mention also goes to old Evil Incarnate since people could dc and ruin the entire attempt. Now with bots it's far easier; especially if you use the Meat Plant backpack strat™.

    Taking One for the Team

65/250 currently. I consider it just a sort of passive progress achievement. No use in actively farming it, while there's other achievements to attempt.

I know i said this before but im tired of seeing survivors doing the same strategy

Jump in locker>killer attempts to grab the hiding survivor> survivor drop flashbang>killer cant do anything> easy save

Also flashbang can hit killers who arent even looking around flashbang, it can hit you behind you, under you, or if you are looking up the flashbang still hits you.

Either make lightborn longer or remove the radius so the killer has to look at the explosion to get blinded

Locker + Flashbang is frustrating, but it hardly ever happens.

In my experience, it happens only with bully squads, and those are a bit more rare lately.

My main argument for why flashbangs shouldn't be nerfed is the fact it requires skill to use, outside of that particular scenario. I've had plenty of flashbangs whiff uselessly by me when chasing or grabbing Victims, so it seems balanced to me.

    Yeah, I said it.

Let’s stop pretending that the biggest problem in the game is anything besides how rampant tunneling is.

Just look how miserable chaos shuffle is for survivors currently. Extremely low chance of getting anti tunnel, meaning that if the killer wants to tunnel you out immediately they can VERY likely do so.

You should not NEED to run anti tunnel to have a playable experience.

How do you feel about this perk? What are its strengths and weaknesses? When do you like to run it? And Survivors, how do you feel playing against Distressing?

    I love it.

    • Strengths:

Can be combined with Doctor for increased Static Blast radius, very effective on any map.

Can be combined with Legion for increased Terror Radius during Frenzy, meaning you get Killer Instinct at a greater distance (I recommend using an addon that increases Frenzy duration, if you use this perk on Legion).

Can be combined with Terror Radius effect perks, like others have mentioned: Coulrophobia, Unnerving, Overwhelming Presence.

Give extra Bloodpoints in Devious Category, can be combined with Killers with low Devious BP generation, for when you want to run a BP match with a particular Killer. Combine it with other BP perks generating perks like Beast of Prey for more BP in Hunter Category. Thrill of the Hunt is okay, too, but not that great. I personally use Discordance + some kind of aura reading perk to easier find Victims to chase around, pretending I'll hurt kill them and totally not let them go at the end.

    • Weaknesses:

It's weak outside of the particular circumstances mentioned above. It affords no benefit (except BP) to Killers that have no benefit from a greater TR. In fact, it would probably be negative on most Killers, because you don't want to give Victims more of a warning than necessary.

How do you feel playing against Distressing?

Because it's so rare on Killers that aren't Doctor, I am usually confused at first, until I realize it's Distressing

I then force myself to more or less ignore the TR to focus gens, because TR going crazy now means nothing, as opposed to normally it would mean the Killer is close.

These add ons are probably the most boring ones to go against, when I play Myers even I don’t find it fun. I really wanna see Myers reworked or something and we need to revisit the add ons. Theres also that mori achievement which is so obnoxious to get because survivors can constantly hop in lockers.

Not that I blame survivors because I don’t like being tombstone’d at 5 gens because thats some BS.

These addons are probably the most boring ones to go against

Hard disagree. I find it to be lots of fun. So it's clearly subjective.

Additionally: "X Killer is so boring/terrible/unfun/bad to play against" is a thread that's made bi-daily on this forum. There's always going to be somebody hating a particular Killer and they REALLY need the World to know how they feel.

when I play Myers, even I don't find it fun.

    Then don't play him. ezpz

I really wanna see Myers reworked

I don't. Love him the way he is.

    Achievement is obnoxious

Outbreak Breakout. Some achievements are obnoxious. BHVR can't win every single time they make a new achievement.

Not sure what part of my comment made you think I was "speaking for the community." I can recognize what the community values are without saying "everyone in the community feels this way." You're free to disagree, but I'm also not putting words into his mouth lol

You speak about being disingenuous, yet you sit there and attempt to convince me, that "and does not align with the values the community of this game shares" isn't speaking for the community. I see you're simply projecting.

And you're just lying outright, when you say you aren't putting words in his mouth, when you're saying:

    Categorizing these people as "baggage"

Despite none of those words were used by @Ohyakno.

You're literally making up things, acting indignant about the meaning you ascribe to it, then pretend like you didn't do that.

as the title suggests, it should be reverted.

Why? Because it was meant to combat camping and tunneling but it really doesn’t do that much in these cases.. in fact, if anything, it encourages both sides to play in a lame way..

as of for killers, it’s almost feel like you’re being heavily punished for doing your objective and hooking survivors, therefore in most cases it feels better to just slug.. not to mention that these extra 10 seconds hurt the good killers who play fair without tunneling or slugging more than those who do.

And as for the survivor side, we can’t deny that nowadays it became a priority to finish a gen before going for the hook-rescue because you have plenty of time to save them. Which in most cases leads to survivors greeding it and getting their team to second stage and tunneled out of the game very early on.

how do you guys feel about it?

I'm gonna have to disagree. As a definite Killer main, I don't see the problem with those extra 10 seconds.

as of for killers, it’s almost feel like you’re being heavily punished for doing your objective and hooking survivors, therefore in most cases it feels better to just slug.. not to mention that these extra 10 seconds hurt the good killers who play fair without tunneling or slugging more than those who do

This appears to be entirely untrue. Nothing is taken away from you by hooking, as you aren't supposed to stand there and wait for them to die. The extra 10 seconds got put in to combat camping/tunneling. You are meant to hook and go hunt for the next guy.

As long as they're on hook, even if they aren't dying right away, means one less Victim to mess around with gens.

Which in most cases leads to survivors greeding it and getting their team to second stage

This happened before the extra 10 seconds, so that's no argument here. Didn't happen all the time then, and doesn't happen all the time now. Just gotta deal with the team sometimes being uncoordinated. I've had my teammates go to second stage before, because I thought another guy was going to get them, but then he didn't. It happens.

Do you like the Wizard of Oz because that's the best straw man impression I've seen in my life. I'm sorry not everyone has the same desire to see superfluous blood and gore but still would like to play the game all the same. Categorizing these people as "baggage" because they'll "find something else to be put off in short order" is completely disingenuous, a slippery slope fallacy, completely unwelcoming, and does not align with the values the community of this game shares.

Categorizing these people as "baggage" because they'll "find something else to be put off in short order" is completely disingenuous, a slippery slope fallacy, completely unwelcoming, and does not align with the values the community of this game shares

I disagree. Also, don't start speaking for the entire community.

Just because you disagree with him, doesn't mean you should start putting words into his mouth. He never mentioned them being "baggage", his assertion that easily offended individuals would find something else to be easily offended by isn't unreasonable, at all.

It's becoming more and more that people start slugging at 4 or 5 gens remaining for several minutes or tunnel and/or proxy camp for the most part. This was in the Chaos Shuffle game mode and some players just keep ruining the fun for everyone involved. It's like this community is allergic to fun.

This game mode is supposed to be fun, refreshing, NOT in the meta and it's supposed to bring out different playstyles, yet people do boring stuff and it just sucks. Slugging has become such a big issue in many games now, I've seen many people complain on many platforms and it's just ruining the game I loved for so long and put a lot of money in.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KJX8DFSIQ2UO/deadbydaylight-win64-shipping-a2cetgcdsw.png

Eh, I'm gonna have to take this with a grain of salt. I've run into groups that were borderline throwing themselves on me, ending with me having slugged them all before I had a chance to hook anybody. I didn't have fun with it, as it was just all too easy, and needless to say it barely gave any Bloodpoints.

Also, what @danielmaster87 said, we can clearly see the Killer already had 5 hooks on you. 5 hooks and 1 gen down? That's pretty bad. So if anything, if sounds a bit like this is one of those salt posts, where you're just upset at losing, and you try to paint a narrative about people 4-man slugging all the time, despite it being something I have only ever experienced being able to do once as Killer, and never having experienced it as Victim.

  • I highly recommend parting up your text a bit and using some commas, it's a bit hard to read the wall of text you've written here.

    Example:

Most of the time a rework simply takes a killers power and tweaks certain variables, like adding status effects, or number changes etc. But what skull merchants main problem seems to be is, that people arent fond of her power in general.

For example at first during her PTB, the drones were interesting to sneak by with their scanlines, until you realised how they could be used (camping gens etc.) and then they got "tweaks" to be more of a loop denial chase power with stealth, and it kind of ends up just being something you accidently step on all the time, and just isn't that engaging.

In fact, even playing as her, she doesn't really have any particular abilities even with a big power claw. But one thing is for sure, they can't just take her power and give her something else that isn't drones. It's already set in stone, that she has drones.

I think the key to making her more enjoyable is, to change what kind of drones she has. For example, she could deploy little skull spiderbots that roam the map, searching for survivors, alerting her of their location if scanned, can be disabled if snuck up on, and latch on if you fail the little minigame thing.

But because she will have no control over how they roam, she could either have a second ability to "command" them to check various places, or simply give her some kind of lunge attack that can break pallets/walls, so that her claw feels more like a powerfull weapon etc.

Maybe they can come up with different kinds of drones in her addons, like full sized robots with skulls, that chase and damage survivors, but shut down after an attack. Theres plenty of ways to "rework" her into something more interesting, as keeping her current power as just stationary drones, that are mostly just used to camp things and no chase power beyond these placeable things is; probably what's lead her to become so negatively recieved, besides some not being fond of her being sexy, rather than scary (which I liked her for anyway). I say ideas for Skull Merchant, but maybe we can make this a spot to place all our ideas for BHVR to look at, and consider. So what are your ideas, or do you like this one?

To address the topic of your post, I like it, just flying drone skulls is interesting of itself, but the novelty passed surprisingly quickly for me. I like the idea of skull spiderbots.

You talk as if my team is very coordinated and skilled and plays at their best, no I play soloQ and you know how miserable it is.

So it's great that the killer leaves you in a dying state for 4 minutes, you can't do anything, you can't play, you just crawl very slowly and that's it.

Nah, bro. The Victims had a "chance to escape" when they entered the game. If they play so poorly, that there's still 4 gens left, when there's 2 Victims remaining, they don't deserve to be given second chances, just because… What… It sucks to lose?

Just hook the survivor don't leave survivor in dying state and that way you get kills, if you leave them in dying state intentionally for a long time then you are telling me it's a free escape while you literally had a chance to hook survivor , so my suggestion is literally dedicated to such a playthrough that you are advocating.

According to your logic we should remove Noed and Deadlock because it rewards the killer for his failure "The killer had a chance but the killer failed"

You absolutely do not require Victims being "very coordinated, skilled, and playing at their best" to do more than 1 gen. I know random soloQs can be bad, but that's because some people go in there without caring terribly about the base framework of the game, and simply try some silly plays for fun, which unfortunately sometimes go awry and impact the entire game for the other Victims.

So it's great that the killer leaves you in a dying state for 4 minutes, you can't do anything, you can't play, you just crawl very slowly and that's it.

Never said that. Bring counter-perks, as has previously been suggested by @Unknown2765.

Just hook the survivor don't leave survivor in dying state and that way you get kills, if you leave them in dying state intentionally for a long time then you are telling me it's a free escape while you literally had a chance to hook survivor , so my suggestion is literally dedicated to such a playthrough that you are advocating.

Slugging one of the two Victims is often in an attempt to find the last Victim. I'm not sure what you're going on about getting kills, it's obviously still to get kills. Bring perks.

According to your logic we should remove Noed and Deadlock because it rewards the killer for his failure "The killer had a chance but the killer failed"

No, if I was advocating for removal of second chances through perks, that would be an argument, but I'm not. There are comparable perks to NOeD and Deadlock for Victims, like 'Sole Survivor', 'Left Behind', and 'Fast Track'. All perks benefit from the game going sour for the Victims.

    BRING COUNTER-PERKS.

Are exit gates too fast or a maps too big? Sometimes even with killers with fantastic mobility, exit gates feel near impossible to control sometimes without the assistance of perks.

Would it be too strong if exit gate times were dependent on how many survivors are alive? 1 survivor alive = current exit opening time and with each survivor alive add an extra 2-3 seconds? It doesn’t need to be Slow like Remember Me as making it too strong would buff that perk, but it would benefit on bigger maps, I find the Greenville square gates literally insane because they are so so far apart. I can imagine it’s frustrating to balance these type of things with maps being different sizes too, because slower exit gates on Midwitch would be awful but idk I feel like it’s an issue, anyone else?

    20 seconds.

But I'm gonna be honest… Sometimes it feels like 10 seconds.

Overall it's not a problem tho… Especially when there is 1 survivor left. (After closing a hatch)

The hardest part for survivor players - repair 5 gens. Opening the gates shouldn't be as hard as that. :D

I feel Grigerbest, that sometimes it feels like 10 seconds. That's why I run 'No Way Out', significantly reducing my stress about checking gate switches, by giving me a notification when they try to open one, and giving me up to 60 extra seconds of additional searching before they can even start to open it. It has kept many pesky Victims from escaping.

Ontop of 'No Way Out', I'm hoping to see 'Blood Warden' in the Shrine of Secrets soon, for even more "no escape"-ism

  • @Boons123 said:

This is the kind of situation where the match becomes a sure loss as the killer refuses to hook the survivor and leaves the survivor in dying state to search for the other survivor just because the killer is greedy to get 4K.

If a team has not repaired 4 generators and 2 die, the remaining 2 are left with nothing but to hope that the other survivor dies so that this survivor can find the hatch.

-So my suggestion is when there are only 2 survivors left in the trial, these 2 will gain the ability to recover from dying state more than once and their recovery speed will be increased by 100% and after recovery they will gain 10% speed and endurance for 12 seconds.

So you won't be left in dying state for 4 minutes.

-Generator repair speed increases by 100% so they can finish quickly.

So the last two survivors have a chance to escape.

The goal is to give the survivors a chance to escape, this does not prevent the killer from killing them, however it prevents leaving the survivor in a dying state for a very long time.

Nah, bro. The Victims had a "chance to escape" when they entered the game. If they play so poorly, that there's still 4 gens left, when there's 2 Victims remaining, they don't deserve to be given second chances, just because… What… It sucks to lose?

Then what about the Killer? So if Victims manage to repair 3-4 gens, so there's 1 gen left, should the Killer then be able to down Victims in 1 hit? Teleport hook? It's only fair, it sucks to lose, you know?

Your suggestions sound like the petulant whining a child makes, wanting the rules of the game changed to favor them, because they are a sore loser. Just accept you can't win every game, and if the Killer wants to slug for 4K, it's their risk to do so. It's not risk free.

Every single game I play as killer seems to be against the same perks. Lithe, Windows of Opportunity, Adrenaline, Sprint Burst, Unbreakable, Background Player, Flip Flop, Boil Over, flashlights, brand new parts, styptics.

Every time I do, I remember that these are the people complaining about killers slugging for the 4K, but they're content to make every single match the same stale, miserable experience. Unless I'm running an S-tier killer I'm just supposed to play along with their cookie cutter builds.

I'm so tired of it. Game's not called "Survive By Daylight." When I see people posting complaints about slugging or tunneling or camping but this is the "meta," this is what we're up against if we're even slightly above wood tier? Killers are making the game "unfun" for you? Really?

I hope they make Tombstone Myers basekit.

    "Victims complain about slugging":
Yes, simply don't care about it. If you see a thread complaining about it, just reply with why slugging should remain as it is or similar.

    "Against the same perks":

It is called 'META', meaning "Most Effective Tactics Available". It's an age old gaming tradition to min/max for efficiency. Simply try to pick perks that counter-META.

What I'd also love to see, is the exact opposite. Please let us see the Rift reward screen, without having us automatically claim it, at least the Bloodpoints. I don't want to claim the BP when already near max, I'd rather keep it in there for later, when I actually need it.

Ever find urself in hopeless when u can't repair any gens along with other survivors? All the best u can do is hide and hoping killer not find u and when they do find the third one, u better hope the killer hook them quick if not then they gonna coop together to find u and kill u. Since there is no perk that hide ur aura against survivors then locker is ur only chance to escape against 2 killer in the match but u can only stay there for 1 min before getting idle crow and there is nothing u can do but get out and interact with something, that is when the dying state killer sees u because they refused to die by that long time 4 mins bleeding out so another killer will let them bleed out for 1 min or more then let them struggle to be stand again to find u. Here is my solution, since the locker is ur only chance to hide ur aura from both killer and survivor:

First solution is the changes for idle crow: increase idle crow timer to 4 min 30 sec so that u can stay in locker and be safe because those guys will not see u. Even if they play hard ways like that, they can look for u in the entire map without even know where u are.

But when u stay in locker in 4 mins 30 sec or more, 3 idle crow will instantly spawn on ur locker and gives killer loud notification not one like before. This still prevent the game holding hostage without any toxic gameplay.

Second solution is create a perk that hide ur aura from survivors entire match so killer can't take this opportunity to use another survivor to find u

Rise ur thumb if u like this post

Had to rewrite my reply to be less mocking of this idea, because this is just ridiculous.

No, absolutely not a good idea or solution for anything.

Victims are not supposed to help the Killer find other Victims, that's why the report option to report players for "Helping Killer" is available. Literally just report them.

When your playing Killer, High MMR is so frustrating, my gaming session is filled with VAC Banned players every other match which leads me to believe these people are possible DBD Hackers, Im led to believe they are hacking when we get into chase and it always seems like they can read my movements thru walls. Now I play survivor and im well aware of the red glow from killers and im also aware of using holes in loops to see where the killer is and when I play survivor I admit its pretty easy to prolong a chase around obstacles however, I have no idea in the heat of a match who is a subtle hacker and who is legit. I have been pretty successful in my reports against subtle hackers from the feedback I've been recieving from BHVR but this is getting very old fast. I hate MMR. Im at a point I only want to play survivor because of the MMR all of my killers are stuck at. I typically get 2-3ks in my killer matchs and I have even noticed some of the survivors I go up against are in Comp Teams or Big name TTV's….im so tired of playing these super intense matchs and its so much chiller as a survivor.

Are there any plans to make Killer a little less stressful? Again, the hackers hasnt been addressed and im guessing most likely never will so whats the plan?

"Make killers less stressful" = Stop checking people for VAC bans, take a deep breath, and just have fun chasing, hooking, and killing.

"Address hackers" = If somebody off-handedly seems too suspicious, then report them, but don't overthink it. Just report and move on with your life.

I am curious what Killer you play, because sometimes the way to stay ontop is to play something a bit meta. There's a big difference between Trapper and Doctor as an example.

Doing poorly in a match or two doesn't matter, just let it slide off you, like water off a duck, and move on to the next match, where potentially worse Victims will be ready to be stripped of their lives.

PS: "Big Name TTVs" I wish that was me, I'd love to be able to tunnel/camp some Big Name TTV.

It's basically impossibly to loop in this game anymore unless you are against a baby killer. Every map has been nerfed, every killer has an anti-loop power, every pallet is unsafe. The only way to win as survivor now is gen-rush and hold w long enough to let your teammates finish the gens. If you try to loop most of the time you'll go down faster than if you just held W. It's just sad what this game is turning into.

"It's basically impossible to loop now"
Nope, still entirely possible. Just because the loop eventually ends (by being caught), doesn't mean you weren't looping the killer.

  • Nah, I'm trying to get the Racoon City RPD achievement: Outbreak Breakout

"Open the exit gates and escape from Raccoon City Police Department 20 times in public matches."

Imagine trying to do it WITHOUT map offerings? No, mate, that would literally take years with the amount of different maps that exist now and having to not die as well.

Also, if I can't use map offerings, I can't play Trapper. I need my Midwich offering, don't you dare touch my Midwich offering! 😫

  • Please, OP, work on your sentence structuring. It's such a dense wall of text, it's really hard to read. Part your text up a bit, use a bit less conversational language, if you're also not going to part the text even a little, and last but not least, cut down on some of the unnecessary filler text that doesn't add anything to your overall topic.

Here's an attempt to boil down half of your text to be more managable:

"I haven't played in the last 3 years because of the constantly changing meta and the basic imbalance of the game between Victims and Killers, the constant grinding to prestige characters and unlock new perks.

However, a friend told me that because of cross-play he wanted to play DBD again. Back when we last played, he played on PS4, but he didn't feel very comfortable and always wanted to switch to PC, so I explained a bit about how the game works and more.

Mainly we played the limited time modes like 'Lights Out' and 'Chaos Shuffle', but lately we've also been playing normal games. I abandoned the game a while ago because I didn't know anyone to play with. Playing with this friend of mine I rediscovered a bit of the desire and the "fun" from playing Victim. Playing solo-queue 2-3 years ago was just making me nervous, but playing with someone to collaborate with, getting more in tune with the game, made me rediscover that feeling of not being alone that I always had in solo-queue.

Among other things I found the progression easier and even faster, even if I hadn't played for a long time I always followed the changes from the outside, and tried the PtB on steam every now and then to preview the new changes, but I admit now leveling up and getting new perks is less frustrating than before.

Not only that, I also found doing the "Battle Pass" of DBD easier, less frustrating, and more rewarding both on the free and premium side. It's another aspect of the game that I never liked, and never made me want to invest time and money to complete. BHVR also adds "Event Tomes" with new events, containing challenges and extra Rift Shards that help you speed up and reach higher levels.

I'm happy that now in there's free rewards in the pass, and there is a balance in terms of rewards and in game currency that you can get, like now that after 15-10 levels you can get 250 iridescent fragments which in my opinion helps new players quite a lot to unlock new characters, and the fact that you can get many more outfits in the free pass. The free pass also offers interesting and unique rewards, like the two new outfits for Yui and the Spirit which are really interesting and unique, both in terms of animations and visual effects. I like the idea of the 'Deep Rift' to encourage people to do more levels after passing level 70. For another 15 extra levels of rewards and then for a total of 200 levels if you still want to do more levels and receive some more Bloodpoints to level up the characters unlocked in game.

Overall I'm satisfied with what I've seen, and maybe I have a little more desire to go back to play… Maybe not like before but with my friend, yes."

I hope this might help you.

To address the topic of your post itself, I'd like to hear what you think of the game itself, and not just the Rift Pass, DLCs, and Store content. You didn't mention anything about game mechanics at all.

We need this to be bannable. I wish dbd had the option like Fortnite to record previous matches(idk maybe you all do) but this tunneling and slugging has gotten out of hand. And no I’m not going to run anti tunnel build. Shouldn’t have to. The game is just not playable as a survivor. Tunneled out at 5 gens slugged at 5 gens, it’s so gross. You can definitely tell the kiddos are on this game. Also that’s another point to mention. You should probably add some verification to prove that the players are 18+. I loved this game but now, idk anymore. Literally there was a streamer (not mentioning them) that had a title on their stream as slugging in chaos mode. And literally bled everyone out. At 5 gens…. Dbd / behaviour / devs please make the QOL adjustments for us solo enjoyers. It’s just not fun anymore…..

You absolutely ooze concentrated salt, friend. Not just in OP, but every reply of yours through this thread have been salty.

Tunneling and Slugging should not be bannable. There's no discussion to be had, because the idea of it being used as a weapon by even remotely competent bully-squads is too easy to imagine.

"I'm not going to run anti-tunnel build": Then suffer. Suffer, and stop whining. Counter the meta, and meta can (but doesn't necessarily) involve some tunneling and slugging. Bring perks.

  • That sounds weird. Perhaps open another support ticket and ask for a valid reason for why you have to rebuy them, then post results back here.

felt and I’ve taken the break but now it’s just even worse. I’m getting thrown in matches with players that have very little hours. And I escape often so I’m sure my MMR is not that low. They need to update their matchmaking. I would rather wait much longer for better quality matches than going in a match and it be over in 2 minutes because players are giving up, sweating so hard, or do not even do the objective. Sometimes I feel like it’s unsportsmanlike to just go hide in a corner. Why play the game if you’re just gonna hide. And that’s without distortion

"Sometimes I feel like it’s unsportsmanlike to just go hide in a corner."

    That's because it is unsportsmanlike.

If a fellow victim is still alive, and you decide to just hide and let them die on hook? That's unsportsmanlike. Last teammate dies, despite your efforts? Fine, rush to find hatch, but don't hide in a corner. That makes no sense.
